    This is my very first Resident Evil game, and while I think that it's a pretty fun experience overall, the game itself has some major flaws.
    It mostly suffers from pacing issues, and it feels like it doesn't know what it wants to be, it mixes action and horror in such a bizarre way, but it's not a good action game nor a good horror game either.
    I absolutely adore the Eastern    This is my very first Resident Evil game, and while I think that it's a pretty fun experience overall, the game itself has some major flaws.
    It mostly suffers from pacing issues, and it feels like it doesn't know what it wants to be, it mixes action and horror in such a bizarre way, but it's not a good action game nor a good horror game either.

    I absolutely adore the Eastern European/Gothic Horror setting with the vampires and the werewolves, it's excellent. Most areas are incredibly detailed, the atmosphere is disturbing, and the buildings look very beautiful.

    I have to say, the gameplay mechanics are better than I expected, the game is fun to play, the guns feel and sound satisfying, and there is a good variety of tools to use.

    Ι found most of the characters to be quite annoying, except from few of them that were lowkey entertaining, the Four Lords are overall intimidating and pretty much the highlight of the game.

    The writing is very amateurish and straight up bad, there aren't any peaks in the story and it's very short, personally it took me around 8 hours to finish it, and I think some areas should have been expanded, especially the castle.

    Lastly, the dialogue is very cheesy and sometimes the game takes itself too seriously for no reason, which hurts the overall tone, specifically in the second half of the story, there are some questionable moments that take away the immersion completely.

    I really appreciate the effort that was put into the game though, the Dimitrescu Castle looks great, there are many areas to explore, the environment looks really nice, the village is cool and there are many things to do in it, decent amount of details here and there, I honestly enjoyed it a lot, it really is a well crafted game after all.

    Final Rating: "Decent" ~ 6/10.    … Expand

    This is a game of two halves. The first side of the game is great. The castle area and the haunted doll house were very well designed and atmospheric. The second half of the game was very linear and quite boring especially with the big fish area and the factory area.     It is very obvious that some places are put to lengthen and this is very annoying.Its kil my game focus and its kill my motivation to see whats happend in end.Also this game not even scary tho.

    Disappointing game
    Do you still remember Dead Space 2? Because that's how this game seems to me.
    Everything that was too scary and violent is removed and it degenerates into an action game with a scary element.
    I can also play CoD in zombie mode.

    It's the same **** all over again. A mix of RE7 and RE4 with an uninteresting story, a lot of meaningless events, fantasy scenarios, generic enemies and boring villains.

    It's fun to play and the graphics are great, but the game, despite clearly trying hard to stand out, ends up being somewhat forgettable.

Lets dispense with the LOL STEP ON ME MOMMY stupidity - shes barely in the game. The game has been speedran(runned?) already clocking in at just over an hour.     + I liked the puzzle element of having to find the boss treasures after you defeated them
    + Shooting is alright even it feels like most guns are lacking "punch"

    - The story is really bad even by RE standards , It doesn't feel like Resident Evil , Ethan is still in between of being a character like any other and being an avatar for the player thus making him nothing and the pacing is erratic thus villains don't get the necessary screen time to be more memorable like RE4 for example where they had the codec calls
    - The cinematic/scripted sequences hurt the game incredibly and strip control away from you constantly . Plus they make replaying the game a pain
    - Boss fights are for the most part pretty bad
    - The tight FOV from RE7 didn't gel well with the over the top action
    - It's never scary or tense
    - There is hardly any audible music in a series known for it's music
    - Some nods were okay but the boulder thing was cringe . It was Capcom's "How do you do fellow kids" moment

    The overwhelmingly positive reception and the ending implications of this game leave me worried for the conclusion of the trilogy which to me might be even weaker than the RE4 to RE6 one . Village is not a bad game but merely an average one that tried to please everybody and ended up being passable in everything that it attempted to do    … Expand

    The game can be boiled down to one thing - Lady Dimitrescu.
    She is the selling point and goes up and down on 9gag. Nude mods and memes sell this game.

    The rest is weak action horror with a few pretty parts. Nothing more. 6/10

    The level designs are for the most part ok and atmospheric but boxy. Massive let down if you're expecting a truly creepy and enthralling horror epic however. It fails to be that. Certain areas and bosses are totally lackluster (the puppet level comes to mind. What a let down!) and the Merman, Lovecraft level which was totally just a run through with a boss chasing you. All empty and boring stretches of nothing. While action packed if you like FPS and definitely taking a more RE5 approach, it's tedious right from the start once you realize the extremely small amount of effort Capcom put into this.

    Capcom once again just makes another over the top and way over staying it's welcome sort of game. Went on for too long in my opinion which is mainly the fault of the boring and slow cutscenes. Ethan Winters is a boring character. The dialogue is cheesy and lame. The plot is predictable and the ending a let down.

    Wait for a discount to play this and wait for real horror developers to release something more worthy of being a horror title.    … Expand

    I enjoyed the first half of the game the second half was a major disappointment but here is the problem it isn't a resident evil game I would of give it a higher score if it was a new IP it seems to play more on fantasy than horror go play resident evil 2 remake if you want a true resident evil experience

    I have recently played RE8 Village, and although I liked the game in several ways, there are other points that make me hate it quite a lot. I’m old enough to know about the former "Biohazard" first person shooting games and the not so bad "Umbrella Chronicles", which gave us another side of the story at Spencer's Mansion. Knowing all this I must say that having all the resources and technology from these days, why don’t give the player the choice to change their view? Why a first person camera?.

    Ethan Winters is a faceless character that never makes you get into his story, looking for his disappeared girlfriend Mia. (RE7). The feel of that game isn’t the essence of Resident Evil, but that is another tale.

    RE8 VILLAGE plot is in the air, playing with european myths and literature, vampires, werewolves, monsters from the lake, etc... and Chriss Redfield attached to the story in desperate intent to turn this into Resident Evil, sorry but I don’t bite it.

    The main facts and several parts of the story seem to be inspired by SILENT HILL, a father who is looking for his daughter in the middle of a strange place surrounded by demon-like creatures, but in this case all without salt and pepper. Maybe you can't find the resemblance with the old KONAMI title, but the truth is that this plot is weak, and certainly isn’t polish.

    The good stuff, all the artwork is fantastic, even addictive, like Lady Dimitrescu and her castle. The game is fun but is it really a Resident Evil game? .

    I can't give it more than 5 it would be a treason to all that deep plots and amazing characters from the main RE franchise,    … Expand

И это всё еще не объясняется нормально, в седьмой части был хотя бы адекватный сюжет, где можно было хотя бы в него поверить, но в этой части игры это просто из ряда вон выходящее.     Visually it's a master piece. The characters have lots of personality and que gameplay it's very good. I didn't line que much the final moments with the werewolf hordes, too much difficult spike for my taste, but, overall the game was very good.

    This game is average Ethan is still a man child, and rose is ugliest most stupid baby/teen she acts like a 10 year old when she's 17 **** years old ,ass character she's deserves her bullying. Enjoyable gameplay like re4 but ammo is just handed to you much better than re7 please go back to survival horror or at least re4 gameplay.

    Great visuals but game is overly difficult even on normal. Cant get past the beginning. Sucks as I was hoping to enjoy this game. Luckily only paid $20 for it.

    The AI is incredibly stupid in this game. When I was on the ladder, the monsters kept attacking the air and they couldn't even attack me. The story is complete garbage. The dialogue in this game is cringeworthy with horrendous voice acting. This game lacks the attention to detail you would expect in a AAA game. There are too many puzzles in this game. The puzzles are terrible and kill the pacing. The developers added so many puzzles in a pathetic attempt at making this game long. The game manages to still be too short.

    The multiplayer is not available yet. The developers delayed it til summer. I'm getting sick of this annoying trend of developers delaying the multiplayer and waiting months to finally get it. I'm at least glad these developers are listening to my complaints and adding modes like Mercenaries. It's too bad that the mode is boring, slow paced and lazily designed. You can't even play with your friends in this mode. I recommend you wait until this game is like $20 and has multiplayer before picking it.    … Expand

The village, which is introduced in this long-awaited title, located in Romania - with its utterly incredible atmosphere and vibe; Terrifying, yet, of course, beautiful and gorgeous setting - sets up a perfect opportunity to create, what could have been, an absolutely unforgettable grounded, survival horror experience and introduce an interesting and believable story, along with interesting villains and characters. However, now judging how this game was designed and made in mind, Resident Evil Village was destined to miserably collapse and fail in those specific departments from the very start, while shining in very few.
    There are, indeed, some slow paced, terror-inducing, atmospheric exploration sections that shine the best in Resident Evil Village, and roaming around in the village - which acts as a central hub - searching, gathering resources and collecting items can be, of course, a lot of fun. However, the game is more action-oriented than it suits Resident Evil, while - without spoiling anything - indescribably cheesy, corny, unsuitable, flat out bad and ridiculously over the top story and plot-twists; Ridiculously over the top action gameplay moments, even for a mistake that is an action oriented Resident Evil (which are a lot, with last sections being full-blown Call of Duty and Metal Gear-like moments and experiences) and cutscenes; Also, very unrealistic, unbelievable, cheesy and extremely cartoony villains, characters and moments, utterly dismantled the overall experience of Resident Evil Village for me. If you want to experience the peak of what Resident Evil is, as a slow paced, grounded survival horror experience, where Resident Evil shines and works the best, and what Resident Evil should be, I would recommend Resident Evil 1 Remake. You might say: "Wait, but there are some over the top enemies and moments even in that game, too!" Well, that is true and not true at the same time. There are concrete, acceptable and established points in every franchises' universe, you can and absolutely should develop and expand on them, however, if you entirely cross over those said points and boundaries, you leave the zone of "unbelievable," if we can even call it that, of course (zombie invasions, tyrants, mutants - but still just enough to be believable and to be enjoyed - no flying dragons, no "possessed" dolls, no destructive robots, etc. And, thankfully, more realistic, scientific and materialistic, grounded approach to the story and core gameplay) and enter the zone of, what I would call, "just flat out crazy and ridiculous" (which Resident Evil has become majorly since Resident Evil 4, though I would say Code Veronica started it all).
    Resident Evil Village had moments and sections where I enjoyed it and where it was almost correctly done, however, summing up everything I mentioned above, overall, I did not like the game and, sadly, I do not even want to call this Resident Evil. Personal verdict: Not the worst thing in the whole entire observable universe, but not a good game by any stretch of the imagination. Do not buy.    … Expand

    not so great..this is my second Re game the first was re7 witch was awesome and made me buy re8 but the latest one is a big disappointment.. it's only worth a 4 score because of the beautiful graphics and detail.. the rest is filler!!! This felt more like a tech demo than a game! RE7 bio in vr is the best!!!

    Finally a return to the quality of RE4/5!!! Had great time playing it and although not as good as 4/5 it is a huge improvement over 7 (let alone 6!)

    I really didn’t like the idea of that story. This is not Resident Evil anymore! It should really be named after something else even the characters . Talking about characters , Chris Redfield doesn’t look and feel nothing like old Chris anymore.

Sure, the atmospherics were great combining soundtrack with the environment but gameplay is king and that’s wherein the problem lies. Why is it that more and more games are relying on graphics to disguise the lack of quality gameplay ?Oh, what a let down, another game which puts graphics over gameplay. What was once a fantastic video game series has become a shadow of its former self. Shortly - this game is **** Whole promo with this big vampire lady made me very curious (of course) but it turned out that she exists only in 15% of whole game. Other characters feel like some random questdillers from WoW, I knew nothing about them, IFirst of all, I am not the greatest fan of RE universe, so any point that I found bad in this game I considered as BAD, without any excuses. I played with Russian language, and that was the worst voiceover that I heard, so I decided to replay the game fully on English (easy replay cuz this stupid 70$ game is 8 hours long…)
    But I was surprised that in many scenes acting was SOO bad, so it felt like they hired some first year students from theatre academy to play it. Another point - this game is 8 hours long. I just can’t understand why RDR2, TLOU2 cost same price, but the quality and length differs so much. First part of the game had beautiful cutscenes, but at the end… wtf was that at the end Capcom, u ran out of budget or what?

    And finally, what is this game? A horror? If so, it is not scary, the only one part was scary for me, everything else was so lame so I was yawning the whole time. If not a horror, so what, a shooter? This game had worst gun shot sounds and weirdest animations, and I received no pleasure while shooting. Even at the end. And, I forgot, the main plot twist was so obvious at the beginning, so my final feeling about this game is - disappointment.    … Expand

This game has Terrible puzzles to the point you don't even want to play it anymore..Ethan is a horrendous actor, (or whoever wrote and the voice actor) . It just feels like a chore, where it's not even worth the hassle of doing some puzzles. The lowest part of the entire series. Good for what it is but so much wasted opportunity big vampire lady should have had a bigger role and no not because of all the mommy crap and the 3 sisters should have been more interesting the whole thing just repeated the same **** as in 7 except much cheaper and way too easy I get the whole trying to make it less scary than 7 for the softies for some reason everyone thought 7 was terrifying when VR was mediocre and broke immersion when ever grabed but this killed the game for me I completed it in 9 hours it felt like I was speedrunning it felt like a small indie with few objectives kill a "boss" if you can even call them that I guess for most people they get scared and overthink which is were the false sense of a challenge is and im not a big horror guy either half the time im to scared to walk down the hallway but not in resident evil 8 I was in 7 but as the game progressed got more comftable but anyways in 8 with the bosses as i was saying if you take it slow as theres not realy any grabing scenes like there were in 7 you dont have to worry about geting close its like call of duty zombies just walk backwards alittle and its litterally following you ready to die like it was just handed on a platter the only good "boss" fights were the last 2 the rest was a joke even the story how the woman was your wife ect and hisenburg being into games its the exact same story from 7 and in the same order just less fun but most people seem to be obliviouse to this because most people that matter end up being youtubers that are never very good at games and tend to be overwhelmed by anything more than tetres there fore capcon listened to them simple people and brought nothing new to the table… Expand

Not like 7 was. 7 had the slow brooding atmosphere and dense horror aura. It's was bleeding survival horror from it's very core. 8 isn't like that at all. It's an action shooter mixed with Amnesia/Outlast Style horror. They tried to make it work with mold and how the EVE virus function's overall. But... Werewolves, vampires, whatever stupid doll horror movie's there have ever been, Terminator 4 Dawn Of Fate or whatever, Retconning the origins of spencer's research, full blown re4 style action sections that feel so out of place and tacked on. All of it feels like a stretch for the lore. They really need to take the series back to it roots. Imagine zombies, hunters and survival with the RE Engine!!!
    8 almost had some great puzzles but, of course they were made too simple because capcom doesn't understand it's core fanbase. Money Money Money. There was a great piano puzzle that would have required actually thought and research for a non musician... but of course you can get past it by slamming every key until it gives you the answer. I was almost stumped because I got Treble Clef and Bass Clef mixed up in my head. But no... I noticed it was giving me the answer when I picked the wrong note to many times. Sigh... The generic doll horror movie sections was another wasted opportunity for great puzzles. I was getting a lot of old school silent hill vibes. But it was tedious and extremely straight forward. Not a terrible section for a horror game overall. I got scared. It was tense. But the potential... Again... A lot of work went into this game and it for sure has cool part's. It's just all rushed as a whole and feels very hollow for an RE game.    … Expand

A trilha sonora é interessante. Enfim, dou nota 4,0/10 no geral. Mas ainda sim, bem melhor que o jogo anterior. Obs: Ainda sou da opinião que a Capcom deveria acabar de vez com a franquia, pois eles estão sem ideias e cagando pra ela, isso já está mais do que notado. Praticamente estão fazendo dinheiro com o nome "Resident Evil" e só, que foi de uma franquia notória dentro do cenário Survival Horror para ser a franquia mais incompreensível.     Where is the plot? Are we babies? So, so, so boring. I just finished because I could not belief it was so dull and nonsensical. I could not relate to any character because they were flat. Last game I am playing of these company even if they give it for free. Yes graphics are really nice, congrats.

    literally no music,dumb AI,repetitive puzzles,uninspired level design,generic plot and characters.

    I enjoyed what RE7 did and how it set up a new sequel. But... Everything about RE8 Village bugs me. Every. Single. Thing. I don't like it as a Resident Evil fan, and I don't like it overall even if I wasn't an RE fan. It's a boring and pathetically dumb slog, and completely frustrating in every way it can be as a long time Resident Evil fan. I finished the whole game,    Not Resident Evil.

The only reason it doesn't get a much lower score is because it's a video game with good graphics...
    But seriously, I hate everything about this. I hate the story, I hate the characters, I hate what the devs did to a pretty decent setup. I hate the clunky combat, even after using cheats to unlock powerful weapons with infinite ammo. I hate the nonsensical plot and dialog. I hate how they hyped up characters that were barley in the game. I hate the mercenary mode. I hate how it doesn't feel like a survival game anymore because they killed off all the actual survival gameplay mechanics. I hate level design. I hate that it has no good music whatsoever. I HATE IT. I can't really think of ANYTHING I enjoyed about it to be honest... and I tried to. It's a whole lot of wasted potential. This game deserves a much lower Metacritic score but the marketing and the hype drove up the score because... boobs I guess. Capcom completely misses the mark on what a fun game should be. I play video game to have fun, but this game didn't allow me to do that at any point in the entire campaign. The entire experience felt like a tedious, uninspired chore and I ended up just very pissed off and disappointed by the end of it. This game doesn't deserve to be called Resident Evil. It's a sad pathetic husk of a game wearing the RE name like a thin veil covered in crap.    … Expand

Rinse and repeat for two hours before I decided to just opt for a refund. No idea what I was doing wrong. I’ve heard others say it’s pretty easy. One of the biggest issues I had was picking up items. Sometimes I would be standing right next to it with the icon highlighted, but it’s like the button just wouldn’t register. The start of the game was also confusing and didn’t feel like RE to me. Controls were clunky, which I guess is to be expected. The enemies also felt more out of something like Devil May Cry or even like the orca from LotR. Main character seemed lame. His reactions just didn’t make sense, especially considering he’s been through this before. I didn’t play 7, so maybe that would help. Also had problems seeing because it was too dark.    … Expand

The revolation that Ethen is a molded creature and thus can't die and has been dead since the beginning of 7 takes away all rlthe stakes of these games. that his daughter rose who is a reincarnation of evalyn who is able to control molded creatures the same mold that the t-virus is made of basically makes her a god who is able to control army's of the undead in resident evil a series well known for happy living people. All this being cannon and tied to the series as a whole has lasting ramifications and basically **** on the series as a whole. By introducing imortal molded beings all you need is some mystic magic mumbo jumbo and boom you can create your loved ones who are dead from mold that can't die. Way to go Capcom you made resident evil six look good with this one. The voice actors apart from two are awful the narrative is insulting the puzzles can't really be called that and could be solved by a five year old it's rediculiously easy even on the hardest mode it never truly feels terrifying apart from that monster baby bit. It may have good atmosphere but you will find yourself lolling into a state of ease with not much challenging you. It's a shame really I think that there is a good game underneath all the **** bug you have to dig really hard to find it. Re:8 ruined 7 games not counting the spinoff so that puts the score to one and I give it a point for that god damn monster baby scaring me stupid so a Two! And I gave re:6 a three so yeah **** this game thanks for destroying the lore of one of my favourite game series I'm done with this series it's dead now… Expand

    Sorry, in meinen Augen war das nichts. Die ersten Stunden machen noch soweit Spaß, aber ab der Hälfte geht die Spannung flöten und die Story wird einfach nur noch lächerlich. Gerade die letzten Stunden sind reines geballer. Das hat dem Ganzen dann noch den Rest gegeben und ich war richtig erleichtert als der Abspann lief. Schade.

    The part is far from called Resident Evil, almost devoid of horror, and the game has become more action-packed and boss battles are less bad than I expect, so I see this part as less quality in all respects compared to Resident Evil 7

    Being forced to play the mercenaries game mode has taking this game from sold 9 game to a 1 such a bad game mode then it’s just full of rng. And make it worse every time you die you have to go through the annoying task of doing load out again. How can you make such a good game then do such a bad job with this Game mode. Idiots

Now, my point is that the mandatory mercenary mode for platinum is horrible and disgusting. Anyone who has guessed to make it mandatory for platinum must be immediately dismissed from the company.

    The game is just great! The plot is addictive, the management is generally pleasant, in some parts it's creepy. Passed 4 times to collect all the trophies (played on PS4)! BUT!!! Why was it necessary to go through the stupid S-rank mercenary mode to get platinum????? Only because of this low score!!!

That adding that the graphics are really not that good...
    Apart from this, there is no Resident Evil feeling... at all...

    PS5 is too weak to run this in 4k 60fps with ray tracing. Drops frames constantly. On Series X it runs a buttery smooth 4k 60fps with ray tracing and HDR. Never drops.a frame ever.

    Resi 8 versucht alles gleichzeitig zu sein und alle Fans abzuholen. Erst mal das Dorf wie in Teil 4, ein Haus/schloss wie in Teil 1+2, dann noch ein mr x/nemesis-Ersatz, ein großer Fisch wie in Teil 4, Action Geballer wie in Teil 4/5/6. für mich der schlechteste Teil der Reihe, weil er sich nicht entscheiden kann was er sein möchte.

    Bardzo się zawiodłem na Capcomie. Po latach uznali że w Polsce nawet lokalizacja w postaci polskich napisów jednak się nie przyda co mnie rozwścieczyło zwłaszcza że gra to sequel a część 7 była po Polsku. Nie pozdrawiam capcomu i nie polecam do widzenia.

    Worse Resident Evil game. 7 was awful with terrible writing and bad jump scares. 8 somehow manages to make 7 look like gold with it's awful writing, bad plot, and blatant rip off of other successful games

    Chris Campaign can only be completed in less than 20 minutes which is misleading. The game was advertised as no loading but yet we have loading screens. Feels more like a generic horror game than a true Resident Evil.

    RE7 in VR was one of the best gaming experiences of my life. Removing that feature for RE8 is a complete fail.

    Далее, с первых же минут происходит лютая дичь. В ходе прохождения мы попадаем в зараженную деревню. Как мы туда попали до конца игры не понятно. Что происходит тоже не очень ясно. Игра очень скучная и однообразная, совершенно не тянет на 5000 рублей. Будто это не AAA проект, который делали много лет, а низкобюджетная стрелялка. С самого начала и до конца не могла отделаться от ощущения, что играю в копию Evil within. Диалоги скучные, Итан озвучен на каких-то придыханиях и звучит неестественно (в русской озвучке). Мат в его исполнении звучит неуклюже и смешно. В течении игры с каждой минутой нарастает чувство нереальности происходящего. Будто бегаем под воздействием галлюцинаций. И самое важное, что отличает игру от предыдущей части : она не пугает, не держит в напряжении. Итану или его семье не сочувствуешь, потому что все его действия настолько глупые и нелогичные, что становится смешно.
    Всего игра заняла 11 часов, что очень мало, по сравнению с другими ААА играми, но стандартно конкретно для этой серии. Удовольствия от прохождения не получила, не советую никому приобретать игру - смотрите прохождения.    … Expand

    the ending made me hate this game so much that i don't even want a sequel or dlc or even to play the game again i feel like i wasted 80 dollars because of the ending I'll never forgive capcom and the epilogue made me even angrier because now resident evil is going to be futuristic garbage.

    There is no place of medieval things like castles, vampires, gargoyles and dragons in the game that calls itself "biohazard" and centered on artificially cultivated pathogens. The game contains no music, no characters, no graphic. Characters here seems like made of clay. Resident Evil 7 had great music, plot, characters, animations. Even graphic in it is    Dark Souls 3 with sniper rifles

    Similarly to Resident Evil 4 back in the day, Village will attract a new generation of players and redefine the franchise for the modern age. I guess it’s time to stop looking back and counting on the series to return to its roots. Capcom is well aware of those roots and willingly draws from them to create something new but still infused with Resident Evil’s spirit. Village is not perfect, but neither was RE4, and once again it’s easy to turn a blind eye to the flaws, because overall it’s an amazing game. [07/2021, p.56]

    Resident Evil Village feels like such a culmination. Bringing together elements from the franchise all the way up to now and crafting what looks to be the next step of survival horror, it embraces every aspect of the franchise. While the insidious dread of Resident Evil VII is missing, there are still plenty of scares. The monster designs are fantastic, from the generations undead, the fury of the Lupine beasts, to the towering monstrosities. It's well worth delving into the concept art and 3D models to enjoy them fully. The story is just the right amount of silly with the terrifying, and the odd dash of the surreal. The combat is smooth and fluid, best evidenced in the addictive Mercenaries mode. All of these elements added together make quite possibly the best Resident Evil to date, and a foundation for a fresh new generation of terror.

    RE: Village is a mixture of almost all previous Resident Evil elements, making the most of both survival horror and puzzle intensity, but with the primary stage being left for the more action-like nature of Resident Evil 4. It has some great story moments, sprinkled with a few lacklustre characters that are still overshadowed by its most notable characteristic – most detailed environment to date.
