Nov 21, 2024Sure enough, while it doesn’t seek to reinvent the roguelike wheel or provide an especially captivating story or cast of characters as Hades does, [REDACTED] nonetheless provides enough clever adjustments to the formula while embracing some incredible combat fundamentals to come out of seemingly nowhere and secure its spot as one of my favourite roguelikes of the year.

Put up with the steep difficulty and slow progress and you’ll experience an immensely enjoyable game, one that is cram-packed with slick combat and brilliant characters.

Proof of this is [REDACTED] a fast-paced and frenetic game, whose experience takes us to face not only abominations, but other survivors, and even an infected version of ourselves. The gameplay is solid and fun but some areas need more work.

Nov 4, 2024Redacted has all the addictive core elements of an enjoyable roguelike: a good variety of weapons, abilities, and synergies with a well-polished presentation. The racing rivals and random events keep runs feeling fresh, although its comparatively short runtime and relatively lacklustre melee combat prevent it from being one of the greatest.

It's a rougelike with a rough exterior that once you crack through the dizzying first several hours, you'll have a lot of fun experimenting with mutated destruction.
