    This is truly a next gen, from the graphics to the no loading between levels and switching between maps while playing. The only little nitpick is for me is some action you need to do are sometimes not very clear and a indicator that an enemy is behind me would have been nice, but this is just nitpicking. Thnx Insomniac for making very good games

    Spectacular game that really showcases the PS5 and DualSense and is just tons of fun to play. The visuals are stunning, the gameplay is smooth as butter, there's a huge variety of weapons, and the pacing is damn near perfect. My only complaints are the very low difficulty (I don't play a lot of shooters and I had to adjust the difficulty to "Very Hard" over the course of the game to getSpectacular game that really showcases the PS5 and DualSense and is just tons of fun to play. The visuals are stunning, the gameplay is smooth as butter, there's a huge variety of weapons, and the pacing is damn near perfect. My only complaints are the very low difficulty (I don't play a lot of shooters and I had to adjust the difficulty to "Very Hard" over the course of the game to get even a slight sense of challenge), some minor control quirks (e.g. being unable to switch off the hover boots mid-jump), the lack of enemy variety and memorable stand-out boss fights, and the servicable, but somewhat forgettable soundtrack.

    Insomiac surpasses himself again, each installment that he makes of his games is one more step towards perfection, a game with a lot of charisma, personality, but above all made with a lot of love for the fans. Compulsory purchase for those who have a PS5.

    Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is graphically eye pleasing, STUNNING, fun, and satisfying game, with a heart-warming story. This is one that all ages can truly enjoy, with lots of replayability! Highly recommend

    Gameplay and graphics are absolutely outstanding as they usually are for Ratchet & Clank games. Voice acting is great for the most part, and the animations are nearly perfect. The only tiny things that bother me is the "decent" story, "decent" writing, and the fact that Ratchet feels slightly overshadowed by Rivet. I would've liked at least one more planet with Ratchet, considering thatGameplay and graphics are absolutely outstanding as they usually are for Ratchet & Clank games.     This game is, without a doubt, essential if you own a PS5. The visuals are just stunning. Perhaps the best looking game on PS5 so far with Demon's Souls. As of everything else, this game shines as well.

    The gameplay is tons of fan with incredibly good variety of weapons, great use of DualSense and way better abilities that make the gameplay tons of more fun than the other of the series.    This game is, without a doubt, essential if you own a PS5. The visuals are just stunning. Perhaps the best looking game on PS5 so far with Demon's Souls.     Also, for the fans of the explorers in games like me, I must say that it felt way more open to exploring and I loved that. But, this created another problem as well: Some bugs with textures, which are minor per se, but they is a fair amount of them. Bus don't appear only on exploring, but you experience them while playing in general. But, nothing is game breaking, and they are extremely minor in a sense where you don't mind at all.

    As of the story, it's simple and nothing special, but it's charming with some funny moments and characters.

    Another thing I want to point out specifically, because I found it as an amazing addition, are the mods and cosmetics Insomniac added if you collect side items making them way more important than just to 100%.

    I love the R&C games, and this one is not a exception.
    It's a hella fun jump n run / 3rd person shooter with gorgeous Pixar Film-like visuals.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Such an amazing game, I platinumed it three days ago, and I keep thinking about going back and replaying it again and again, I never felt that way before, and its such a beautiful game, probably the most beautiful on PS5 so far, the ray-tracing is spectacular, voice acting and animations are superb, and combat and weapons are incredibly fun.

    The only reason I didn't score this at 10 are because of these slight gripes I had with the game:

    - Enemies are not varied enough, mostly same robots (they're more varied later on, but look essentially the same) and Thugs-4-Less guys from beginning of game, mini-bosses also get repeated a bunch with no difference (juggernauts) or minimal difference like the pirate juggernauts but they have too similar of move sets (stomp then beam, rinse and repeat).

    - Omega weapons were disappointing, thought there would be a big difference between level 5 and Omega, but the difference is just in power, no cool effects added as far as I know.

    - Protagonists repeat dialogue too often, I don't need to have Clank and Rivet say the same story lines over and over again just because I temporarily exit and come back to a place when its needed, like in Arena (from Arena to vendor and back), and I don't need Clank or Ratchet to constantly remind me that I got to go to the mission points when I just want to explore first, it gets annoying.

    - UI and game explanations need slight improvement, like show that you can buy all upgrades for a weapon by pressing triangle from the weapon selection menu of Upgrades, and it should be explained that the more damage you do with a weapon, the faster it levels (tested with Ice and Topiary).

    This is definitely the best Ratchet and Clank game though, and I absolutely loved jetting around with the jet boots, I really hope they're in the next installment, and I can't wait for more!    … Expand

    This game maintains the greatness this series established long ago. It features the usual hectic combat, ridiculous upgradeable arsenal, and witty humor. The plot alternates with another dimension, where you meet counterparts of all the main characters, creating a charming intergalactic adventure and adding to an already likeable cast.

    I never got to play any of the older installments in the series, but after playing this epic sequel to the 2016 game, I wanna play the old ones right now. This is truly a fantastic exclusive for the PS5.

    Best looking game you could play right now on any platform. Super fun and intense gameplay. Tons of accessibility options. Majestic graphics and Ray Tracing, even in the 60 FPS Modes. Great story and Amazing characters. Decent length (15 hrs for the main story). Very replayable.

    Fantastic game that is probably the best looking game ever released. If you're a fan of previous R&C games you'll feel right at home. The gameplay is very similar to the previous games which is not a bad thing. Lots of guns, enemies, and amazing set pieces. Highly recommended for PS5 owners.

It took me almost 20 hours to platinum- so it is on the shorter side, and I definitely would’ve loved another 10+ hours of this game. Also the best part of this game are the visuals- this is the best graphics I’ve ever seen on a console game. It’s truly stunning. The most memorable one by far is the Ryno 8: the fact that it can create a portal and send items from other Sony IPs into the Rift Apart world is super creative and imaginative.     Rivet is another great addition to the series as well. She has an enthusiastic personality and a nice change of scenery from playing as the regulars all the time.

    Last but not least are the graphics. Oh my God are they fantastic. From the beautiful scenery and lush particle effects, to the ray traced character designs and gorgeous flora and fauna. R&C Rift Apart is a beautiful display for the next generation of gaming and an exciting start for what's to come. A great future is ahead!    … Expand

Many characters go through personal troubles in a very teenage-angst kind of "oh gosh oh gee I just don't know if I can do it" kind of way" which can, very often, outstay its welcome. The humour of the originals won't beAn excellent Ratchet game, easily one of the best in years. Old school fans, like myself, will take problem with the extreme kid-centric nature of the game's writing. Many characters go through personal troubles in a very teenage-angst kind of "oh gosh oh gee I just don't know if I can do it" kind of way" which can, very often, outstay its welcome. The humour of the originals won't be found in this but, the game is much more "quirky" than it is comedic. But the game exudes so much charm, endless detail and love for the franchise and the pastime of videogames itself that it can coast on that alone. Although I really do wish they would return to the dry wit of my childhood.

    The presentation is incredible, the gameplay is easily the best it's ever been and it made me excited for the genre of video games itself. It actually made me feel (a bit) like a kid game. Highly recommended.    … Expand

Insomniac are amazing , released spiderman 2018 , milea morales 2020 with a spidermam remaster , and now ratchet and clank. All in the pendemic without crunch. Chapeu. If i have 1 negative thing to say is the lenght. Its not that short , butIts a beautifull game that let you smile all the way. Fun for everyone .     I went into this game not fully knowing what to expect. I'm not really big on jump n' run games. But something about Rift Apart just intrigued me.

    The things that caught my interest right of the bat when I saw the Reveal and the State of Play, was the interesting usage of the Playstation 5's SSD capabilities and the gorgeous graphics.

    I still wasn*t sure if it was worth taking the risk to spend 80€ on a game that I usually would avoid.

    But in the end, I did... And what can I say except... wow.

    This game is an absolute masterpiece from a technical standpoint.

    Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart does not only look absolutely gorgeous but it also has that incredible polish to it that you would expect from a first-party sony and insomniac game.

    The overall gameplay and the combat is pretty much flawless. The combat is fluid. It offers a lot of variety in movement and action. The movement rewards quick response time and decision-making which is definitely needed at times when you play on the highest difficulty.

    I didn't expect the game to be this much of a challenge. It isn't comparable to other games that are known for their harder difficulties but that isn't what this game is about and I personally really enjoyed the difficulty balancing.

    I haven't even come around to test all of the weapons. So there is enough variety to keep it fresh throughout the playthrough.

    The graphics are definitely one of the key selling points. The game not only looks and sounds stunning but it also feels like it. The world-building in most of the planets was simply breathtaking.

    Insomniac once again brought their A-Game and managed to bring out a 60FPS mode that also includes Ray-Tracing without sacrificing much of the visual quality except resolution.

    I never played a Ratchet and Clank game before so I wasn't at all familiar with any of the characters. But man.. You just immediately love all of them. Each of the characters is just filled with charm and love.

    Creating a game where you play as 2 characters can often be very divisive. But in Rift Apart's case, it worked beautifully. Rivet is such a fun and likable character. I might have enjoyed playing her more than Ratchet. But both are just awesome. Dr.Nefarious and Pierre are some stand-out side characters to me.

    Story-wise the game achieved what it tried to achieve. It's not a deep immersive character study with bolt and realistic themes. Those kinds of themes are what I usually look for when I pick out singleplayer games. I still very much enjoyed the story even though it is the polar opposite of what I usually play.

    The game is pretty much a flawless experience. The only thing I might have wished for is a tiny bit more enemy variety since they did kind of became a little repetitive throughout the story (especially the bosses).

    I'm all for quality over quantity obviously. I would rather play this than another Assasin's Creed that goes on for 100 hours with bland repetitive gameplay. That being said I still would have wished for at least a few more story hours. The games quality 100% deserves it's full 80€ price tag. But a 10-hour story campaign is definitely a bit short for that price.    … Expand

    This is not just a game that demonstrates what next gen has to offer but a game that tells the story of a franchise as old as Ratchet and Clank in a funtastic way. Every planet, every character and every set piece is crafted with such perfection that it would be really a huge loss for those who miss this game. Nothing can stop Insomniac now.

It has very tight and fun gunplay, a great variety of weapons, good comic relief, and some exploration as well. The game itself is about 10-12 hours long, with a challenge mode unlocked (new game plus) after you beat the story.

    Visually this game is stunning. After playing it in fidelity mode and performance mode, I came away very impressed with just how smooth this game plays. Personally, I do not believe that this game needs 60 FPS as I really could not tell the difference between the two modes when it came to how smooth it looked. So I played with the best graphics I could, and they were incredible. The amount of things going on in this game at one time, and for there to be no framerate drops ever is worth the price of admission. It delivers on the next Gen graphics and next-Gen speed. My PS5 can be turned off and I can be playing this game with 20 secs of turning it on, less than 10 if in rest mode. No loading and no lags. I will say that I did experience a few bugs, the most common was the game not closing the menu on the guns after I previewed weapons, but I am sure that will be patched up.

    I do not have a lot to say negatively about game, however, I was disappointed with the way the new character (Rivet) is used. I understand that they wanted you to feel like you were using Ratchet, his name is on the game, but I feel like they missed an opportunity to put some new mechanics in the game, give her some guns that are unique to her, give her her own puzzles to solve. Overall she is fun like you would expect, I just feel like they missed a great way to refresh some things in the game world.

    I earned my Platinum trophy this morning, and still want to get back into this world and play some more. In the grand scheme of things that it was it should be about, do you want to keep playing this game? The answer to that is a resounding YES! 9/10 See you in the next dimension!    … Expand

    This game is just soooo much fun. That is what it is all about and it nails it perfectly. Completed the story last night and now going for 100%. It is a great game after a long day to sit back and just enjoy gaming! Alot of games now adays miss this but Ratchet and Rivet, I mean Ratchet and Clank....knocks it out of the galaxy.

    Very fun game! Impressive graphics, likable characters, and addicting gameplay! Although the story is relatively short, there are varying difficulties, side missions, and numerous collectibles which offer great replayability. Would definitely recommend this game!

    Let’s start with the graphics. Similar to Returnal, there is a lot happening on screen. Environments are dense with characters and particles. It really makes the worlds that you visit come alive. Each planet is unique in its art style as well, so you always treated to different experience. Character is detail is astounding for a game that has released so early in the next generation development cycle. Ratchet, Rivet, Kit and Clank are all extremely detailed. You could easily mistake this for an animated series! I platinum trophied this game on the 4K fidelity settings. Many gamers now scoff at 30 FPS, but for the added bump in visuals it was worth it. Which ties into performance…

    Overall, I didn’t notice any slowdowns. There are some huge battles in this game, but even at 30 FPS they all played out perfectly. Really not much to say, it runs brilliantly.

    Gameplay wise, I found it super enjoyable. The shooting mechanisms are great and I really love the use of the Dualsense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. Each weapon has been designed to be unique so you have so much choice at the end to tailor your style. Sometimes I found myself stumping on the jumping mechanisms - particularly double jump. This was mostly due to the hover ability being used for X as well, but once you get used to it mistakes went to a minimum.

    Story was fantastic. It was uplifting and fun. It may not be as deep as other games, but it doesn’t need to be. The added graphics really makes you appreciate the cinematic scenes more than ever and it draws you in. The ending was very satisfying; it had some really nice touches, but you’ll just have to play it to find out!

    Overall, I loved it. Yes £70 is quite expensive for a game, but in this case I thought it was totally worth it. It’s a brilliant example of what the PS5 is capable of and it’s a captivating story. I wish it could have been longer, but only because I didn’t want to finish it. There is a new game plus for those looking for replay ability. The developers Insomniac have done a fantastic job and I hope we get to see Ratchet and the team in future sequels.    … Expand

Insomniac games has become one of my top 3 favorite studios after the Spider-Man games and now THIS.     Rift Apart is a great video game of the Ratchet & Clank saga, among the 3 best games of this, frenetic, fun. It takes the best and captures it here, although, it feels like it lacks more madness in terms of history, but insomniac games played it safe and gave us a very good video game to start PS5

It really looked unique. Immersive settings, explosive combat and shooting ( I can't stress this part enough!), and enjoyable progression system. Add to all that, fantastic character buildings and dramatic cutscenesI had just played Ratchet & Clank 2016, and it was great, a week later, I played this game, and... Wow! I really didn't think they could upgrade that game on so many levels. It really looked unique. Immersive settings, explosive combat and shooting ( I can't stress this part enough!), and enjoyable progression system. As far as some criticisms: the game feels pretty linear, the game is relatively short, it has a lot of minor glitches, and it’s incredibly easy (I recommend starting off on a higher difficulty). I think it’s biggest downfall is that once you beat it and platinum it, there’s very little reason to ever return to it.     This is my first R&C game. I ignored previous versions of R&C as it always looked too childish for me. However i am really glad that I decided to give this one a try. After playing so many unforgiving and dark games it was nice to play something that not only made me feel like a kid again but also felt like I was playing a quality Pixar/Disney movie.

    Not a complaint, but a fully open world version of this game would be unbelievable. That said having a bit of a longer game would be really nice. i beat this easily under a week at 98% on normal difficulty.

    Second (and most important), is the ability to travel between different “dimensions” and worlds within a level with no loading times at all, which offers the user a very immersive and exciting experience, specially at pursues and fast paced levels.

    The game also takes advantage from the PS5 Dualsense haptic feedback: the player can feel almost all vibrations like steps and, of course, the shooting of the various weapons at disposition.
    Shooting works excellent as did with Returnal; the player is able to choose between 2 modes for each weapon depending on how soft or hard pushes the R2 trigger. For example, there’s a gun that activates a shield while pressing softly R2, and then turns into a powerfull blaster pressing R2 fully.

    Let’s talk about graphics now. I’ve been playing the ps5 since launch and I must say that Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart is the best looking game so far. Not only cutscenes looks beautiful but also gameplay is extremely good looking. Player can choose between 3 different graphic modes: Fidelity mode at 4K and 30fps; this is the worst mode you can choose, since the game feels clanky and bad at 30fps. There’s also Performance mode and Performance mode RT which runs at 60fps to the cost of less resolution (actually the difference in resolution is almost imperceptible, so I’d advice to play either at Performance or RT performance mode).    … Expand

    The game is more comedic and very entertaining. We all liked Rivet here, who became another waifu. The most curious thing is that the game is only for PS5, and it is something that I did not like, due to its very high price. I settle for an enjoyable, comedic game, and with the same villain who is only here to rule the world.     Wow. Insomniac might be one of my favorite developers right now. Between the Spider-Man games AND R&C, they have a pristine resume. This game is so close to perfect I’m still fighting internally about bumping the 9 to a 10. As someone who isn’t well traveled in the R&C series, I felt right at home the entire game! It’s hard to do that with a series as old as R&C, making it inviting toWow. Insomniac might be one of my favorite developers right now. As someone who isn’t well traveled in the R&C series, I felt right at home the entire game! It’s hard to do that with a series as old as R&C, making it inviting to newcomers and old fans. I only have 2 complaints that hold it back from a 10 (both of which are easily fixable with a later patch) Occasionally Ratchet or Rivet would momentarily get stuck in the geometry of the environments when using the rocket boots, not gamebreaking at all but it would halt my pace randomly & leave me confused for a few seconds as to why I stopped in a wide open field. The other issue is during the Clank sections, it didn’t happen at every Clank level but in half of them I ran into a weird graphical glitch, it’s a little hard to describe but the entire background would get these black “scratch” looking things that would flash VERY quickly & hurt my eyes. It would be all over the environment too. The only way to get through it was to either physically walk Clank into them so they’d disappear (they’d reappear if you got far enough away) or try to complete the section with them giving me a headache. Did anyone else run into this?? Aside from those minor flaws, the rest of the game is so incredibly polished that I was actually stunned most of the time I was playing. Last time I experienced something so meticulously crafted with love like this was both of The Last Of Us games. The attention to detail is just.. immaculate. Every environment is gorgeous, all of the characters are charming and heartwarming, the story is extremely engaging till the end & has so much heart & genuine stakes. Dr. Nefarious remains as entertaining as ever & EMPEROR Nefarious is just as intriguing & is one of the best villains I’ve seen in a while, he’s actually intimidating! His accent & demeanor are badass too. The Dualsense feedback is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced playing a game, Rift Apart is THE new standard everyone else has to catch up to. One of the best games I’ve ever played hands down. If you’re fortunate enough to get a PS5, play this game. You will never regret it. I really hope Ratchet & Clank doesn’t take as much time off as they did with the PS4 era, because I’m BEGGING to see more.… Expand

    I’ve been a big fan of this series for almost two decades; and for me, this is a complete return to form for my favourite galactic duo.

    A Rift Apart has stunning visuals, immense set pieces and locations teeming with life and discovery and in my opinion the strongest supporting cast of any game in the series. That’s not to mention that the series returns with all of its signatures in full form, like over-the-top weapons, awesome gadgets & unique puzzles.

    The concept of travelling through dimensions via rifts is executed beautifully in both cutscenes and gameplay, showing off the potential of the PS5’s new ssd to instantly load entire worlds with effectively no trickery or loading screens.

    Suffice it to say that this game was an absolute joy to play through and 100% complete, I had a grin on my face practically the entire time and not a single moment felt wasted. I wholeheartedly cannot wait to see where insomniac take this beloved series next!    … Expand

    As a lover of Ratchet and clank I can say that this game is wonderful in many aspects, the only flaw is the combat, I expected something more but it is still very acceptable.

This game is easily one of the best and graphically impressive games I have ever played, This is easily the best platformer I have ever played, The story is also amazing but sadly short for $70. If you really love platformers go for it, it won't disappoint you, but if you are looking for a nice game I would rather wait for the price to go down a bit.

    -This is the game of the year so far... it's really that good.
    -The haptics and adaptive feedback make this game more immersive for example there was one scene where ratchet typed on a keyboard and you could actually feel it on the dualsense
    -I absolutely love Rivet, she makes the game a bit different.
    -I'm giving it 9/10 just because the price is too high, even though the graphics are justifiable but in my opinion, the game (story) is too short for the price. (Note that the R&C games were always shorter).    … Expand

    Insomniac have done it again! They have crafted another amazing adventure in the franchise! The game is funny and the combat is really enjoyable! I love it so much that I am already replaying it. If you have or are waiting to get a ps5, get this game immediately I can highly recommend it. One of my top favourite Ratchet & Clank games.

    Maybe the best Ratchet yet, feels amazing, looks amazing, a great diverse of characters, monumental discoveries that willhave hug eimpact for the franchise going forward. The dimensional shifts wer eused very well in my opinion, setpieces amazing, animatiosn asburd. If you own a PS5 YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS GAME.

All of these are brought together flawlessly to create a very enjoyable playthrough from start to finish. The main reason people enjoy Ratchet & Clank games is obviously the gameplay but in this instance, Insomniac Games has surprised many people (including myself) with a thorough and detailed story that is not seen in many Ratchet & Clank games. Without spoiling the story, the game focuses a lot on mental health and how to deal with your emotions and no, it doesn’t come across as forced or fake at all - I would actually say it’s the complete opposite and comes across to the player as very authentic which many games struggle with and ultimately loses the connection with the player. The gameplay is very well refined and overall is a improvement on previous entries, however I feel like it does get slightly repetitive in the last few hours of the game. Most games in this genre do struggle with similar issues which is understandable. I encountered very few bugs/glitches in the game and when I did all I had to do was restart from my previous checkpoint if my character got stuck and at one point I had to restart the game because the weapons shop froze, I was also very fortunate that I didn’t experience any crashes. Overall this game is definitely worth the money and in my opinion it validates the price increase in Sony’s first/second party games. A technical and visual masterpiece that shows what the PS5 is truly capable of, this is why we need exclusive PS5 games.… Expand

    This is a great game. Not just a great next gen game, but a great game all around. This is not my favorite ratchet and clank (I think some of the humor of the past wasn't all there), but this is definitely up there. I definitely recommend it if you have a ps5.

    One of the first real reasons to buy PS5. This intergalactic adventure of famous series is full of great gameplay, inventive game design, gripping story, and great characters. It's a game for everyone who owns PS5. Actually, it’s a game for everyone.

    What’s so good about this installment of Ratchet and Clank is that it is a true labor of love. There is no other way a game can feel so good, play so well, and take you on an impressive adventure all without that special ingredient to keep it going. The definition of a next-gen title, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is a must-play that will leave you super satisfied and hungry for another big game like this one.

    The experience is so captivating, you’ll probably want to blast through the entire 10-15 hour story in one go. But the final is really disappointing: basically, the entire game is just a warm-up, while the important events will happen in the next one. [Issue#254, p.36]
