I can't say anything that hasn't been said dozens of times, but I'll share my thoughts nonetheless. Twenty years ago I bought a Playstation 2 just specifically to play Gran Turismo 3. Twenty years ago I bought a Playstation 2 just specifically to play Gran Turismo 3. I mowed lawns, I washed cars, I shoveled snow, I mulched, I weeded, with one singular purpose. I wanted to play Gran Turismo 3. I wanted to be able to get a feeling of all those cars I spent hundreds of hours dreaming about. When I finally got the game, it was everything I wanted it to be. It was everything I thought a game could be. I did all the licenses. I spent hours agonizing over tune decisions and grind strategies. I ran the Clubman Cup so so so so so many times. I had the ludicrously overpowered Pikes Peak Escudo. I ran endurance races fully in A Spec because I got so much genuine joy and satisfaction from finishing a long race. I felt like my heroes on TV at LeMans. I felt *immersed*. I know what doesn't feel immersive. It doesn't feel immersive to drive each car for maybe 12 minutes. Throwing in enough upgrades to blow the doors off the field, because how else are you going to cover a 45 second gap *in two laps of a 2 mile course*. How is passing 11 cars and like they're on lawn mowers The Real Driving Simulator? How on earth could they possibly have come to the conclusion that this is the best concept for Every . Single. Race. Every race. Every single one. It doesn't make sense. It feels willfully ignorant and deliberate to have absolutely no acknowledgement of any series races at all. Nevermind all the mtx. Nevermind the inability to sell cars. Nevermind the credit nerfing. Nevermind the 'real life car pricing' that says a Honda s2000 costs *a hundred thousand dollars*. Nevermind that a roulette 'prize' can be the chance to spend *fourty real dollars on one car*. Let's say the game gets a free pass on absolutely every single one of those things. And let's pretend those are every single one of the shortcomings. Let's set all those examples aside. The fact that a fully fledged, numbered Gran Turismo game. A game that took *nine years of development* to release, and the closest thing to a career mode has you changing cars LITERALLY every 12 minutes. It's just inexcusable. I think I talked myself into returning the game while writing this. Idk what else to do, all my enthusiasm for this game is just dead. Expand

Unfortunately, all of that is ruined by the micro-transactions and the currency system implemented. I’m not exaggerating when I say it is awful. There are no races that net you 100k and if they come close to that amount, it’s a 20-30 min race. But most races don’t get earn you more than 30-50k. Now, that being said, some cars (all the good ones) cost over a million. The most expensive I’ve seen so far in the Legends shop being 18.5 million in game credits for the mclaren f1 and there are many others over the 10 million credit mark. Now, are we expected to grind away at the same races over and over again for *literally* 60-100 hours for one car? I guess so. BUT, polyphony and Sony have a way around that: Micro-transactions! That’s right, that $70 you paid wasn’t enough to get even close to driving most of the cars in game, pal. Now let’s do some basic math. If GT7 charges $20.00 USD of your hard earned American dollars for 2 million in-game credits, you’d pay $185 USD to buy that one car. How wonderful is that? I might as well start saving up for a real life mclaren F1 at this point instead of being able to get all the cars in-game. Oh, and let’s not forget the upgrades for the cars that should normally cost you 100-200k in game credits to get up to speed and competitive. Then, there’s the car invitations. I love these things. Let’s say you were rich out of your mind and spent all of your hard earned (or mommy and daddy’s hard earned) cash, and you had the in game credits to buy that 3.6 million dollar Ferrari. Well guess what? Too bad. You have to be “invited” in the game to buy it. Because money wasn’t enough, you to have to grind it out until the game decides you can buy it. Oh and let’s say you get an invitation to buy that 4 million dollar car and you don’t have the money (you never will, you’re almost always floating around with 200-400k at most), we’ll again, too bad. You have 2 weeks to buy that car or the invitation is gone and you won’t have the opportunity to buy it again. Yep. I hate this game. Luckily, I have a gaming PC and will be buying forza Motorsport 8 when that comes out or stick to forza horizon 5 for now, unless polyphony decides to FIX THE FREAKING GAME. greedy people, unreal. I was pleased when it went live and the graphics were as amazing as it promised, the sound of each individual car was realistic, you can hear the Vtec kick in as the S2000 hits high rpms. The modification function was ok, don't really get why in some vehicles you can only install a front and side skirts but zero rear diffuser options? But the general experience was good and I was pretty happy and excited. However, the longer than expected update duration knocked me out of my excitement I gotta say. And after seeing the details of the update, it all made sense to me, why I was unable to sell my extra Honda Civic to make earn some credits, and why the legendary cars were so expensive, it is disgusting. I'm very disappointed and after a decade of waiting, I felt like I was lured into this web of deceit that aims to pressure me into using their micro-transaction system to save some valuable time. If I want to grind for hundreds of hours and suffers the finanical burden of paying for a car with lots of money, I much rather do that in real life. Video games should be where I can do that with ease and live out my fantasy. Expand

Really good game, but as a player from GT1, it's unbelievable that they raised the price for cars and reduced dramatically the winning money for races so you are forced to buy for extra real money virtual cars. This is really really bad, above all for someone that in GT6 and GT Sport have them all already, and bought the 25th anniversary edition. This is a reason to stop playing and go back to GT Sport. The sound design is incredibly accurate and crisp, with wonderful tones that makes the engines sing. The dynamic time and weather are really the icing on the cake and so is the level of love for detail that the developers have including in the cars. It is simply above par from a gameplay point of view and marvelous in everything it does. However, I am going to recommend that you don't spend any money on this and here is why.

If you have limited time, you will not be rewarded at all for placing what little time you have as an investment into this game. There is a car scarcity, so they are reflective of real world prices (which at times can be outrageous). So, if you like to collect all the cars it is a hard pass. The campaign is incredibly short, as are the missions, and the license tests. There is a disturbing lack of content in Gran Turismo 7 and it suffers greatly due to this absence. Content, meaning cars, races, campaign, series, and events. This is compounded by all of the single player content that is locked if the servers are offline. The last outage spanned thirty-two hours, shortly after launch, with absolutely no feedback from the developers to the consumers. Inexcusable, really. It is truly a disappointment to write this after almost a decade of waiting for this game to come out, especially after all the gameplay improvements and additions.

Lastly, I just want to say that I am disappointed in Polyphony Digital. After a long run of very successful games in the series, fan dedication, and support overall for such a classy, innovative, and inspiring racing simulation, that they would be even more predatory in their pursuits. Firstly, they left the store out of the review copies, which would have shown their practices to be predatory, and have a negative impact to the image of the game. With all the events of the past two years in mind, you will spend no less (if you are very very lucky) than eight hundred dollars to buy one PlayStation 5 and a copy of Gran Turismo 7. To add insult to an already agonizing injury, they would like to cut the prizes that you receive for winning races, and entice you into spending more money out of your pocket on microtransactions to buy a digital car in a video game. The greed shown here is astounding, to say the least. Not only that, but I am sure that in the future, you will have to pay for the learning AI. I have seen mention of this, I cannot remember where, but I am sure it is searchable if I had more time right now to find it.

After purchasing seven main entries and GT Sport, unless there is a turn around from an ethics standpoint, I can not justify buying another game from this developer, or recommend anyone else to for that matter. This made me physically sad to write this, I am going to get some fresh air. Cheers.

So much work to be done to get a promising game to where it should be. Micro transactions are a bad joke... Waiting until critic reviews are out to introduce transactions is a common yet low move for the developer. This industry practice needs to stop. This is false advertising and should be treated as such by industry watchdogs.

All cars should be reachable in a full priced game without needing to do hundreds of races to get 1 rare car. This is not a free to play experience, someone tell the developer, I think they missed that meeting... Roulette spins are very obviously weighted towards the low end prizes, should be actually random. Reducing race payouts, limited stock cars and legend cars are all clearly trying to drive players to purchase with real money.

DRM needs to go! Always online mode for any decent content is ridiculous. Arcade and Music Rally are not worth playing on their own, might as well just lock people out during maintenance. Bring back local saves.

I'm a huge fan of car games, especialy simracing games and at first glance gran turismo 7 is a great addition to the franchise. It has loots of good points like the amazing cars handeling and sound, great customization and nice graphics. But it also has major flaws. The game can olny be played online so when te servers are down you're basicaly screwed. Since the 1.07 update it's very hard to earn large amounts of credits and the majority of the cars are very expensive. You can't sell cars and the microtransactions are very present and at your disadvantage. The roulette tickets are broken and give some useless parts or small amounts of money 95% of the time. The campain is very short and beacause of the cars performance limitations you can't play whith the more powerful ones without detuning them. There are only 34 playable tracks at the time. The multiplayer is broken and you don't have full control over your server ( rammers and dirty racers are a real problem ). To conclude gt7 is a game that has an amazing potential but needs to be improved drasticaly.

I don't think I'll ever win that many credits, and if I was to buy the credits through the playstation store that would be £159.90. £159.90 for a single car! This is insane.
