For me the trust in Sony as a publisher is gone and the brand Gran Turismo is burnt. This should and will not be forgotten!

I grew up with GT, it helped shape my love for cars. The game has a lot of what i remember and love. The thing that kills me and brings my score, is you have to spend more money to get cars. Its a terrible layout. Not worth your time! you are better off not even looking at the game for what it is now.

$70 for a game littered with microtransactions? Always online, then they reduce the winnings from races to force you to use real money for cars. This is completely unacceptable and Sony needs to know this. Hit them where it hurts, don't support trash like this.

I was also able to complete the café missions within 5 play sessions, and now the only thing to do is to spend hours replaying sectors of tracks in Circuit Experience. This is hardly a campaign.
Why has true racing vanished too? Every race is a catch-up mission with the first place car starting half way around the track. I would like to win on merit, not by being able to catch them.

Honestly this game is way to greedy , even most of the trophies (achievements) are tied with extremely expensive cars ,which either take insane amount of grinding or insane amount of real world money. For me the game is great (even though it lacks content for the time being) but the way it does NOT reward you for the time , is a reason of its own to never touch the game

Poor graphics, poor controls, pay to win. 650 cars in Gran Turismo 2 back in the 90s and now we have a game 23 years later that you have to PAY REAL MONEY for most of the good ones? The game is a scam and sony crossed a line. They changed the amount of credits you earn for races to make sure it takes hours upon hours to buy a single car. They cheated costumers by giving reviewers a version of the game with no micro transactions and better earning races, then flipped the switch when it came time to monetise. This game doesn’t deserve your money.

I purchased this game after reading critic reviews, thinking at the time that they would be accurate. Not only were they not an accurate account of the game, but 2 days later the game was patched, making it even more unplayable.

I've been a Gran Turismo, and general racing game fan, since PS1. I've played essentially everything. This is by far the worst, most shameless, bastardization of, not only the GT series but all racing games on any platform. Period. Allow me to elaborate.

Most reviews on this site highlight the ridiculous microtransaction issue and nerfing of "in-game" rewards to make the grind even more idiotic. However, there are several additional glaring faults with the title that I would like to highlight.

First the "online-only" issue. Yes, the game, like many others, is now online only and all you can do offline is play terrible music rally races with electropop versions of classical music. It's an insult to the very idea of a simulation to even have this nonsense in the game, let alone make it the only offline possible play. This is a problem because of point two.

Two: Frequent and oddly timed outages. Maybe it's a release thing, but the game feels like it's been offline a lot, and has had at least 1 full day blackout. Also, the regular maintenance, if you live in North America, is in the middle of your prime gaming time after work. That said, even when you do get online there are several issues; keep reading.

Three: The "campaign mode" is sad compared to previous games. You are locked into playing a linear series of races where you earn cars based on themes, starting from awful little Japanese hybrid compacts, that have no business in a racing game other than a plug for Toyota's next line of gutless, ugly, and boring commuter cars. You eventually evolve to better cars but there is little choice and you don't earn enough money to purchase any cars you would like for these races. You're stuck driving the reward from the last race, or Cafe Book as they call it. You also almost always need to immediately upgrade these cars to make them competitive for the next races wasting your hard-earned cr. upgrading cars you randomly are assigned.
For instance: In the Mustang Cafe Book you're awarded a mustang from the previous book to compete. It assigned you one of 3 randomly and you need to sink cr. into it to make it competitive. You then can earn the Mustang you actually want but will need to sink cr. into that to use it for the last race. You cannot sell cars so you cannot recoup costs or modify your collection to focus on the cars you want.
Finally, the Cafe Book campaign doesn't allow for any deviation from the linear progression. It's boring and locks you into a loop where you're forced to proceed and spend cr. on unimportant cars and upgrades just to progress.

PS. Polyphony, no one buying your game wants to race one of two pickups, 400+ cars in-game, there is no need for 3 mandatory pickup truck races.

Four: Yes there are more issues! The 3 types of car dealerships. The used car dealer is back, which should be a great thing but there is a limit to what it carries and it doesn't change stock very often. The bigger issue is that many, about 1/3 of the used cars, you earn in later Cafe Book races anyway. So if you do get jazzed up to see that R34, for about 300,000+ CR, it doesn't matter, you'll earn one later, plus if you do buy it, there is no alternate reward, you just don't get a car for winning the race. The brand dealership sells new cars, however very few offerings are actually new, all are usually 5 years old, and there is a lot of recycled GT concept garbage from older games for stupid high prices. The last dealership is the legendary car dealership, which has the cool old and unique cars you probably bought GT for. These are your AE86 Treuno, Lambo Countach, McLaren F1, etc. etc. Guess what? The prices of these things are through the roof, The GT500 Supra Race Car is 92 000 000 cr. At the price of 19.99 USD for 2 million cr. this is $920 USD, actual money! Now the cars you can afford in real life, you ALSO can't afford in games! The joke here is for $920 I can go pick up and Xbox, Forza Horizon 5, and a racing wheel, which I literally did do, and yes it's better, but I owe it to you, the reader to inform you of a potential mistaken purchase of GT7. But I digress...

Five: In-game I bought a Focus ST - not super flashy but I actually drive a Focus ST in real life. Well let me tell you, the simulation stops there. Being an FF car in GT7 means that you can't make a 90 degree turn at ANY speed. According to GT7 I shouldn't be able to pull into my own driveway or drive in the rain. I'm honestly miffed.

There is more wrong with the game than I have here, however, I'm at the Metacritic character limit. My advice to the consumer is to go get Forza, Asetto Corsa, or NFS Heat and avoid this disappointment altogether.

So when servers go down for 24 hours, you can’t progress in any of your single player content, which is where 90% of the people who pick this game up play according to the trophy list. The sport mode (online races) has regularly not given me credit for poll positions and winning races. You now have to tune cars yourself to get them in regulation for races for sport mode. This is kind of fun at first but you may waste hours on a car that just isn’t capable of being competitive in the class it’s in regardless of how you tune it. GT sport at least did the tuning for you so you didn’t waste hours and credits attempting to get a car to be competitive, only to find out it’s just not possible with the current car you have. Main complaint for me though, is the always online addition. I get that for multiplayer game modes, but why when the servers go down on the games end, is it not designed to still work and let you play single player content? Just a dumb design. The game will essentially be dead when servers turn off. There will be no way to play this game in the future like there is for the old GT games of the past. It’s pretty sad. Expand

I play the game only as a single player but you always need to be online (DRM) and the other day for 30hours the game was unplayable due to a badly tested patch and the lack of a rollback scenario, only because the game is a "game as a service".
The whole microtransaction crap was introduced AFTER the reviews for the game where out. As a consumer and (former) fan of GT I never was informed by this toxic practice. It's clear PlayStations arrogance we saw at the start of PS3 is back in full force and I don't like it.
I will not buy any PlayStation games anymore on release as the company can't be trusted. I paid a lot for the collector's edition, on my first day they broke the game events by removing the dirt tires, after 1 week they finally released the patch, but now they reduced the race prizes, and to make matters worse, the servers are offline for almost 2 days , I paid for the game and I just can't play it, even single player.

This game shows, that its not save to wait for the first reviews. The developers can ruin the game later down the line. In this case it only took a couple weeks.

What were already miserable payouts before the patch, is now a laughingstock. Its practically impossible to earn credits and have fun at the same time? Want that 13 mill jaguar? Have fun playing half an hour races that pay 70k.

GT7, however, already started out as mean with its rewards (chiefly the roulette spins that just happen to give you the lowest reward 90% of the time), and with the latest patch, they turned the game into a total grindfest that also tries to tug on your FOMO strings (e.g. the system of invitations: brief windows to buy expensive cars you most likely can't afford)... unless you'd like to buy some in-game currency *nudge* *nudge*
