    Good mechanics, good visuals, awful monetization. The latest update decreased the amount of currency you get in game so you're inclined to purchase some with actual money. The game is always online, even in single player, so you can't escape the updates.

    As much as I wanted to like and love this game, from the moment I started playing it I was met with disappointment. Although the graphics look really good, they are not that ground breaking or revolutionary, the previous Gran Turismo Sport looked just as good, the car line up is exactly the same as GT sport yet the cars are way more expensive.

    For the first week, many players realized that this game was extremely grindy, meaning you had to play and absurd amount of hours just to get credits and unlock/purchase new cars, upgrades etc. But not everyone has insane amount of hours to drop on a game. so naturally everyone started looking for ways to get credits faster. This greedy company decided instead to reduce the amount of credits earned per races and push their microtransactions to the front page, even after the game was already $80, to make matters even worse, their ingame roulette tickets give you the impression that you could win awesome prices such as high amount of credits, car parts or even expensive cars, however the system is so rigged that always gives you the lowest and cheapest reward. How fckd up of a company do you have to be to manipulate consumers this way and to force microtransactions? I'm off to playing something else, they really messed up this time.

    So, I was genuinely enjoying the game, but after the maintenance today, the devs revealed their true colors - and while yes, I'm upset in the moment, the current state of the world never ceases to rear it's head in every single facet of my life, and video games should be the last place you constantly see economic greed to this degree. So, just for people who are unaware, they shut the game down for, what I believe is around 15 hours and counting. The reason for this is because the in-game currency can also be purchased as premium currency. The amount is frankly insane too. Well, apparently after the latest patch, someone figured out how to cheese the currency, so since Sony/polyphony/whoever wasn't making as much money as possible, they shut the entire game down to fix this, rather than any other issue that would just be patched in, like usual. This really started to get worse in my head when I thought about the fact that you can't play the game offline really at all (barely any circuits and some music rally stuff.) The reason is because the in game currency affects the devs pockets, so we aren't able to play offline due to that. Everything in the world not only depends on money, but truly revolves around it more and more blatantly to the point where everyone just directly admits to it to your face, gives you the finger, and says "deal with it." It's frustrating and depressing that this, and so many other promising things (I have a lot of hobbies and interests) have just been only about money, and not about passion or anything else, and I swear it wasn't always like this.… Expand

    First time I’ve ever made a meteoritic account. Absolute garbage from Polyphony Digital. Terrible push for micro transactions. Always online single player and 19 hours into server upgrades it’s still completely unplayable. Absolute joke. Absolutely dishonorable.

Its not free to play. I just spent over a thousand dollars on a fanatec bundle and accessories and now they pull off this **** Making sure none of my friends buy this crap.     So they’ve just lowered (cut in half) the payouts in the races to make your pay more within a $70 game, wtf? Sony is pushing it to make people go to xbox.

    You didn't even have to try for us to have loved GT7. We all wanted to love IT. You just had to do the absolute minimum. Instead you went out of your way to lure us in with trailers and hype and scooped us all up in your net of lies.

    Nerfing the payout for races to kill the grind, LYING about being able to sell our cars, even doubles and triples of the same car, creating fake scarcity for car supply to induce fomo, the god awful gacha roulette which doesn't even pretend to be remotely randomized...all for what? That's right, to see how many people say "screw it, I really want this $20 mill credit Ferrari and don't want to complete 400 races to buy it, let me get my credit card." Because getting $70+ from each of us wasn't enough. And thanks to your forced always online game mechanic, which serves literally no purpose, I got to spend my one day off this week staring at a black screen informing me your servers are down. I'm assuming you're beefing them up for the influx of chash deposits your expecting after update 1.07.

    To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. To say I'll ever buy another Gran Turismo game ever again would be a lie. I hope it was worth it. Good luck s̵t̵e̵a̵l̵i̵n̵g̵ making a ton of money from this one.    … Expand

Kazuno Yamauchi is so shameless that he criticize players for repeating racing and lower game rewards in order to force everyone accept microtransaction. He didn't even apologize for this lengthy server maintenance. UR just a CLOWN, Kazuno Yamauchi.

    Buying a game for $70 only to not be able to so the most basic of things in single player because the servers are down is anti-consumer and unacceptable. I'll never buy another Gran Turismo again. Honestly feel swindled.

    I am playing gran turismo since GT5 and I am totally disappointed. False advertisement and a long list of very bad decisions for GT7. The Playstation Store mentions that cars can be selled but that is not true. At the moment it is not possible to sell cars, they can only be deleted from the garage. Furthermore, the microtransactions are completely destroying the game experience. Since theI am playing gran turismo since GT5 and I am totally disappointed. Since the last update you earn even less credits in races than before so that you are even more forced to buy credits with real money. At the core GT7 was advertised as a car collecting game which I expected to get for a full price game. But after a few hours of playing you realise in which direction it goes, a real car collection can only be realised if you spend real money. Another negative aspect is that you are forced to be always-online in order to access the majority of game features, otherwise you won't be able to do anything. PD totally messed up the game and lost its reputation. It will be really hard to restore the trust of the majority of fans, this is really a shame!… Expand

    Always online single player game is mind blowing to me.
    Micro transactions are bad but dont affect me since i dont use it.
    Not being able to sell cars is ridiculous and pathetic way of trying make people buy credit with money + their "generosity of giving cars in game" makes no sense since its only to watch them in your useless garage. gameplay is great, fun driving, really good    Always online single player game is mind blowing to me.

    I've experienced many terrible games but this is the first one that has made me sign up to various review sites to voice my frustrations. I loved the Gran Turismo games as a kid, sitting with my brother and choosing and tuning cars and seeing who could set the fastest lap. This game feels like the antithesis of those games. I am actively discouraged from purchasing and tuning cars by theI've experienced many terrible games but this is the first one that has made me sign up to various review sites to voice my frustrations. I loved the Gran Turismo games as a kid, sitting with my brother and choosing and tuning cars and seeing who could set the fastest lap. This game feels like the antithesis of those games. I am actively discouraged from purchasing and tuning cars by the huge grind involved to get them. I worked out that to acquire the cash for my favourite car and enough cash to tune it would take over 24 hours of solid gameplay. I can manage 2 hours a night of play at most so I'm looking at being able to play around with one car every 2 weeks. Some of my other favourite cars are locked for purchase full stop unless an invite is randomly acquired, absolutely disgusting. How dare they charge any money for this game when the economy is quite obviously entirely based around Pay To Play. Such excitement for a new iteration of this series and for the first time in my life a game has managed to make me feel completely heartbroken.

    All of this on top of the fact that Online is required to play single player. The first week this launched I was unable to play for any extended period as due to issues with our internet caused by Openreach it was dropping in and out.

    Booting up GT7 is akin to attending the funeral of an old friend.    … Expand

    Paid $80 for an unplayable game. Don't even know why it needs to be always-online when 90% of the game areas are single-player focused.

    Also they've introduced poorly weighted prize draws and micro-transactions to buy in-game currency.

    All of these boardroom decisions clearly marks the end of a great legend.

I remember watching my father play Gran Turismo when I was just a little kid and I’ve been playing since, and GT7 is not only the worst rendition of the franchise, but one of the worst games I’ve played in the last few years.

    Terrible pay to win tactics ruined the game. Waste of my money to buy the game in the first place, I wish I never did. Not to mention you need to be online all the time to play it even though it’s a single player game. I save your money and buy yourself another game. 100% NOT recommended. Avoid avoid avoid.

    First of all, i was very sad about these big spaces... emptys. With the driver view, it is not a big problem. But with the exterior of the car view, all is empty and very frustrating. But I was happy to discover GT on PS5. I like big collections of car. My objectives were to collect them all and eventually, platine the game.     Won't go any higher than 0 until they "fix back" the money winning system. They basically killed all the way there was to win "some" money (we're not talking 500k money in 10 minutes, more like 100k in that time) just so the player can spend more of his own money on micro payments ...
    Not even speaking about the cars you can't sell, the AI on a railway whether you're there or not, or the    Won't go any higher than 0 until they "fix back" the money winning system. Now it has microtransaction and they completely ruined any feisable means of grinding to acquire some of the better cars. I thought playstation would be better.     Dont bait and switch your fans! Why is a single-player game only online? There are plenty of games that can implement an anti-cheat while remaining offline it makes no sense. There are reports of people losing all their save data as well so there really is no point at all.

    1.08 came out with only new bugs and all the cr farm halved. Said that we don't want people to make microtransactions, won't price the car base on real money, and released an 18 million F1??? What is it? Even with paid cr this car is too much. I'm just too disappointed on this, I'd love to play GTS with a free car every day rather than this **** GT7 just made me sick, piece of ****

    As a hardcore Gran Turismo fan, I am thoroughly disgusted by the use of DRM in single player mode (of which is incredibly short!). In addition to that, the way that they dramatically lowered how much money you earn for each race in order to push you towards their overpriced micro transactions is something I did not expect from Sony and Polyphony.     After you complete the menu you get to grind and grind on low paying races or play championship races that pay little for the time involved in buying a car, turning a car, then racing for 10+ mins. They want you to pay for microtransactions. Game is just worthless. If their server goes offline you can't single player mode. If you have no internet you can't play the game.

I extremely regret purchasing digital edition. I want to sell it, but cannot. I decide the future, never buy Polyphony product against their policy.

    I have purchased every single GT game since the first one on the PS1. I paid $90 for the 25th Anniversary Edition because I was extremely excited to pick up the next numbered game. Played the game for about 3 days and loved every second of it. The graphics are gorgeous, the music is awesome, the cafe menus are a pretty cool way of giving us car history while knocking out a couple racesI have purchased every single GT game since the first one on the PS1. The graphics are gorgeous, the music is awesome, the cafe menus are a pretty cool way of giving us car history while knocking out a couple races here and there while making a decent amount of credits to buy new cars. Until the most recent patch came out and essentially destroyed my interest in playing it ever again. Polyphony and/or Sony’s greed got the best of them and they lowered the amount of credits you get from races making it damn near impossible to get the cars you want unless you either dedicate your life to playing this game from sun up to sun down OR you can pay the exorbitant prices for the microtransactions. In addition to that, the “always online” requirement is probably the worst thing here. During the maintenance breaks I am unable to play anything besides the music rallies. NO SINGLE PLAYER RACES AT ALL!!!! Why did I just spend $90 on a gahdamn mobile game with predatory microtransactions? They essentially took one of my most hyped and anticipated game of 2022 and completely **** on it. I will no longer be playing this game and will now start playing Forza.     Polyphony Digital has made the in-game currency hard to earn as a means to force players into microtransactions. Cars are only available at certain times. The game only works if their servers are up and running. If they turn the servers off, your game will not work.

    From the always online to the multiple built in microtransactions/gacha mechanics, and now the fact they nerfed credit gain on several races to make cars even harder to get cars without paying, I feel scammed out of my money and have 0 motivation to play this. Should have been a f2p game.

    Sad to see a Sony studio stoop so low. These levels of greed are what you would expect from EA or Ubisoft. I have no interest of playing online but I can't even enjoy the single player campaign if their servers go down. Predatory micro transactions are also out of control in this game. Lesson learned, don't pre-order games until they've been out a few weeks since you cannot rely on early reviews .

This is obviously made to appease to the younger drifter/street take over crowd, and is not what prior Gran Turimos were based on. I could go on, but if you're looking for a legitimate Gran Turismo experience, it's not here.… Expand

And forces them to either stay bored grinding the same 5 races over and over or open their wallets and buy credit packs on the PS store.

    It's obvious that they're preying on people who love this series and cars in general. 1 car can cost over $20 if you get tired of doing the same **** constantly.    … Expand

    GOOD- Graphic detail; huge garage; basically a GT!
    BAD- No qualification (you start in end of race),
    all the patches are to increase micro-transactions (lowering prize and augmet price of car).

    after the patch I would not buy the game anymore.

    The game is exceptional in every way. The graphics, gameplay, tracks and soundtrack makes up for a Gran Turismo masterpiece. However, it’s absurdly hard to make credits in-game, forcing you to spend (a lot) of money in micro transactions to get more credits. This game costs $70!!! It shouldn’t have such mechanic. Therefore, I highly advise all not to buy it unless they change it.

    Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]
