For those who claim it's a DLC, that can be said about a part 2 of any game because they always pick up where the prequel left off: The Last of Us, Uncharted 2 (which is the best one in the series), Mafia 2 and so on.
    Santa Monica Studios, and Cory Barlog, thank you all for making two amazing games that have changed my outlook on video games. You have set an amazing standard and I'm forever grateful. You and NaughtyDog are in the pantheon of video games producing.     Tambien me di cuenta de que hay gente que le pone 0 XD y con argumentos nefastos, que personas lamentables, es decir, obvio no te tiene por q gustar el juego, pero no podes decir que es un juego horrible, por ejemplo, a mi no me gusta para NADA el The witcher 3 pero sé perfectamente que es una obra maestra, por favor, sean objetivos. Pero bueno, es por eso que nunca hay que guiarse por el "user score" que tiene metacritic, eso lo aprendi despues de ver el user score que tiene TLOU2 (si ya se, la historia es horrible pero sigue siendo una obra maestra de juego)    … Expand

    Gráficamente es muy top aunque tlow 2 tiene un motor muy bestia , juego imprescindible si eres usuario de Sony, muy buena historia y personajes carismáticos .

    Does what it does correctly, but the hand holding is inexcusable. Devs need to stop catering to the lowest common denominator and realize that most people can actually grasp very basic logic in puzzle solving. Prompting the player literally seconds after a small challenge presents itself is baffingly bad.

    Where's the RAGNAROK though? That is the ending of the game, and the ending of the norse mythology chapter? Is this a joke? What an underwhelming and rushed ending! The characters, apart from Atreus and Kratos don't even get a proper send-off!
    Where's the epic boss fights? You can't seriously make a God of War and think that 3 humanoid bosses are enough? Where's the BIG BOSSES?? wtf

    Metal Gear Rising, Vanquish, Devil May Cry, And of course God Of War the old titles

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. GoW 2018 was amazing in many aspects, while lacking in others. Story was great, depth of character was great, combat was great (perhaps not ideal fo h'n's fans) etc. It lacked enemy variety, boss fights and half the realms. Ragnarok provides on most.

    However, it feels like the devs tried to fit so much in a game that it ended up feeling sloppy or not as polished as its predecessor. I liked some side quests, they were decent. Berzerker fights are an adequate replacement of the valkyries for example. Though the squirrel was incredibly boring and out of place. This isn't Marvel. 2018 was a drama while this one feels way lighter. A similar example is Lunda, the new dwarf. She feels really superficial, forced and there is nothing to create a bond between her and the player. And that could be a summary for the whole game. Freyr is shallow and cocky, 'Tyr' was pathetic and really contributed next to nothing, the guy who used to be the boar (WTF santa monica) was so out of place and of no actual importance, Thrud is boring and in general all character have only one side and that's it.

    As far as the story is concerned, it feels like it was written not because the devs had something in their mind but because they had to release something about ragnarok. The game tries to touch so many things though it ends up not actually touching most of them. The guy who was the boar. Why was he important? why couldn't he be just a regular guy and he had to be the boar? The shrine at the end of the game. WTF does it show that's so important? Why and how did Faye opposed her people? How by hidding their future she allowed them to shape it (regardless of them doing exactly what she hid from them). Why doesn't Atreus share the fact that he saw his father die with Kratos? Also, in many occassions people reffer to the prophecy while appart from Faye being a giant, Atreus being Loki and Kratos dying in the end, nothing else was shown.

    Although the worst part must be playing as Atreus. The most indifferent character ever. Archery rarely does any good and, while holding only a bow, most of the times you end up spamming melee attacks. He goes to Asgard and uses Thor in fetch quests that actually have little meaning. This guy killed his two sons and yet Thor doesn't do anything while they go on missions together. Odin, the all-father needs the help of a teenager to unravel the secrets of the mask. The BOY does so in a matter of seconds while Odin has been on it since the dawn of time. How does the fire giant screws over prophecy and becomes ragnarok by sheer will and the blades of chaos? How does the Ragnarok being comes to end? How did Angrboda shape the ending as she said? What happens with the giants trapped in the marbles? All this is bad writing.

    Finally, the armor sets are so few and all so **** ugly! 2018 had some ugly pieces but some were ok. In ragnarok it's like they held a competition in the office and the 10 ugliest armors would make it in the game.    … Expand

    This game should have been advertised as a 30$ DLC instead of a 70$ game:
    - Minimal amount of blood and gore - Too sterile, no sex scenes etc. - Recycled animations - Same repetitive and brain-dead puzzles made for toddlers - Same repetitive and mediocre combat mechanics - Same boring single dad simulator - Boring and spongy enemies    You already played this game back in 2018.
    This game should have been advertised as a 30$ DLC instead of a 70$ game:

    - Minimal amount of blood and gore
    - Too sterile, no sex scenes etc.
    - Recycled animations
    - Same repetitive and brain-dead puzzles made for toddlers
    - Same repetitive and mediocre combat mechanics
    - Same boring single dad simulator
    - Boring and spongy enemies except for some bosses
    - Buggy at launch
    - Old-gen holds back it's potential
    - Feels more like a movie than an actual game
    - Extremely linear story and level design
    - Holds your hand all the way through
    - Bad pacing
    - Slightly improved graphics
    - Black-washing
    - Woke libtard soy writing

    This would probably have been more like a 3/10 if not for the following circumstances:

    - I'm sick of lazy game development and cash grabs
    - I'm sick of woke storytelling and race-swapping
    - I'm sick of micro-transaction gotcha mechanics - even though this game has none of the sort.
    - I want to counterweight the fake 10/10's

    The gaming industry is in shambles and we need to push back against this and tell the truth about new games and corrupt reviewers who shill for a review copy.

And the only thing worse than their characters are their designs. Gone are the days where Gods were designed to look powerful and threatening, fitting for the stories told about them and are replaced now with „realistic, down to earth depictions“ yay...

    And that’s all excluded by the extremely rushed writing of the game. A character that tries to kill you for over 3 years starts siding with you within the first few hours of the game. The actual Ragnarok event only last for at most 1 hour and a newly introduced character gets so little screentime before he sacrifices himself even thou there was more than enough time for him to get to safety too.

    God of War is dead and whatever this is isn’t God of War anymore, it’s the MCU‘s version of it with the plan for Santa Monica Studios being to be like Naughty Dog.    … Expand

    If you rate the 2018 game as 10/10 then this game is an easy 10/10. It does everything the 2018 does but butter, the story, the characters, the dialogs, the graphics, the enemy variety, the bosses, the movement, the gameplay, the combat (especially the combat is moreresponsive, a few milliseconds of optimization makes the a lot of differencei the combat, this is a pro gamer opinion)

    This is a perfect sequel from every point of view,libera of the saga i can confirm that this game has changed compared to the god of war 2018, whit the addition of several new characters that make the experience simply fantastic, whit a variegated bestiary compared to the first,a more of the same absurd is perfect!!!

    The intro is amazing, really fast pace, it doesn't waste time to get the story going. The environments is vast and beautiful. I only wish this game was built for the PS5 as some of the textures and graphics looks like a PS4 game which it was built for that first. If you loved the previous game this is must, its a must buy!!

    This game is a masterpiece like the previous one. All these Xbots gamers are trying to review bomb it because they are overwhelmingly jealous that Xbox has nothing to offer but Gamepass with hardly any new Xbox studio titles. If you loved GOW 2018. You will love this one. It's amazing.

    Almost like Last Of Us 2 two Year's ago that Game get's a lot of Hype from Sony. Played it a few Hours and i was bored pretty quick. I'm not a Sony Hater or something, i had all Playstation's from 1-5. But it is impossible to ignore Sonys Media Hype for there AAA Games.

    Heimdall's character should have been better. His voice actor was amazing. Thor's character was like a lapdog for Odin. He didn't play a big role; he was just doing what Odin told him.

The areas don’t feel as fun to explore as they did in the last game, and the amount of stuff to collect is extremely tedious. Some areas are really wee designed for exploration, and some are. By far the worst part of this game is the menus. What the hell is this cluttered mess? On top of thatThis game is pretty damn good, but disappointing. The story is great but the free roam is lacking. The areas don’t feel as fun to explore as they did in the last game, and the amount of stuff to collect is extremely tedious. Some areas are really wee designed for exploration, and some are. By far the worst part of this game is the menus. What the hell is this cluttered mess? On top of that there are a lot of mechanics in their game that you interact with through the menus, so you better memorize this mess. Combat overall feels better than the first with more balance between each weapon. Boss fights are also greatly improved in this game which is much appreciated. However there is still a lot reused. I was fine with it for the first half, but when I found my sixth Ancient/soul eater I got fed up a bit. There is a lot to love about God of War Ragnarok, but there are enough shortcomings to prevent me from loving this game as much as the previous one.     Please make your npcs shut the hell up. This game is literally hand hold simulator. Deveiopers treat u like baby. They do not believe the player can solve simple puzzle or notice any detail on screen!

    Simply phenomenal. It somehow manages to improve on everything from God of War(2018) and offers some of the best story telling in gaming with just incredible presentation, animations, voice acting, soundtrack, gameplay, etc. I could rave about everything. I think this is officially the best God of War ever made and it’s not close.

    Simply said fighting heavy, unresponsive and unnecessary cumbersome /artificial difficult which slows down enemy engagement. Weapons don't have weight, lock on is bad, you constantly get attacked from enemies out of view, the enemies do not flinch - The Draugr / boss encounters being the worst offender for enemy health, damage and arena and (mini-)boss design and layout. Even standard enemies feel "spongey" and damage you receive seems way over-tuned, leaving you in defense / reaction mode most of the times (at least above normal difficulty; haven't tested below).

    When I think about it, the gameplay is somewhat reminiscent of Dark Souls but in a bad way, as the latter has not that many unblockable attacks and encounters feel better designed (thus feeling better IMO). Bottom line, from a gameplay-perspective, the mechanics are not as sophisticated to stand on their own and, thus, are not on par with other hack-n-slay-games, e.g., DMC, Bayonetta or even old GOW, as well as DS, though this may be intentional. IMO this game feels frustrating for the wrong reasons.

    Further aspects relevant to the (lowered) score, in short: The game crashes on PS5; the performance (FPS) is not great / stable unless on performance mode which does impact quality a great deal; the map design is visually great but gameplay-wise repetitive; the gameplay basically hasn't changed much / at all from GoW 2018, which is probably due to the same weapons, I wanted God of War but this has too much (God of) Junior in it, while Kratos doesn't feel powerful at all.    … Expand

    This is the best game ive played in many years as single player story games lover. What a opening fight with Thor, the graphic, the haptic feedback, the sound and music. all the different realms are so unique. Enjoyed and enjoying every moment. This how game suppose to feel. Unforgettable.

    The level design isn't as good as the last game, sometimes the pacing is off, some plot points unfold in an unsatisfying way and the ending seems rushed and lacks the epic and brutal fights, which we know this series for.     Xbots giving this a zero really need to get a life. The level of quality here is second to none. I don't consider this a sequel but rather the second half of a duology. Therefore I wasn't expecting radical changes to the game. It is evolutionary in all the best ways. Because this is essentially a ps4 game the graphics on Ps5 aren't as big of a leap that many had hoped. But they areXbots giving this a zero really need to get a life.     Probably the best game I have ever played so far. Great story telling. Gameplay and combat are both engaging and rewarding. I can’t get enough of this masterpiece. Bad ratings on this game are hilarious and ridiculous. It certainly seems these trolls don’t have a life. Will it be our game of the year? Possibilities are high!!

    Picking up a few years after thr events from God of War 2018 and bringing a really satisfying conclusion to the Norse-Saga. Do not want to get into spoilers, so i'll keep it short. I've finished the story and am on my hunt for the last few trophies.
    Gameplay got improved upon in every way!
    The highly sought after enemy variety was more than taken to heart and they delivered!

    The gameplay is a massive improvement over the previous one and adds a lot of quality of life stuff: - Timed puzzles are drastically reduced - Fights "feel" smoother, I didn't have nearly as many problems with enemies off screen - Boss battles are tough, brutal, but doable - The ultimate    Sublime. That's the word I'd use to describe this game. Other words: powerful, emotional, fun.

    The gameplay is a massive improvement over the previous one and adds a lot of quality of life stuff:

    - Fights "feel" smoother, I didn't have nearly as many problems with enemies off screen
    - Boss battles are tough, brutal, but doable

    As for the story, wooo-heee can I not talk specifics. I'll just say that few games have writing this good, this impactful. The creators really did their homework on Norse mythology and it shows that they wanted to make a game that FEELS worthy of being set in that mythos.

    La evolución de Kratos es sorprendente, en el primer juego de lo notaba como alguien cansado de la vida que encontró un rastro de esperanza en su hijo, Atreus, ahora habiendo evolucionado ambos se puede ver como Kratos es más expresivo, tanto en su relación con Atreus como con la de sus amigos, nuestra curiosidad e interés con sus vidas, siempre manteniendo su sabiduría y cautela por delante, este juego es simplemente perfecto en todo aspecto, no esperaba menos de Santa Monica Studio o de la saga de GOD OF WAR, gracias por esta experiencia.    … Expand

    I can't help but tip my hat to the entire Santa Monica team. The deeper you delve into the game, the more you'll be drawn into the stunning story of a father and son against the backdrop of perhaps history's most horrific war. Throw in some casually endearing humour, great and fluid gameplay, and wrap it all up with an amazing audiovisual experience. [Issue#323]

    Thanks to an amazing cast that’s doing an outstanding job, a compelling story told through the eyes of multiple characters, and top-notch combat, this epic and heartfelt journey strikes all the right chord. It’s impossible not to recommend God of War Ragnarok, but just in case you had any doubts, I strongly advise anyone mildly interested in gaming to play Santa Monica Studio’s latest masterpiece.
