The combats of the game are designed in the best way and in the most balanced way and have so many details that they do not feel repetitive for a very long time.

The Voicing, Perfectly designed sounding, so that it strongly immerses you into the game and immerses you in the game story and action.

The music of the game matches the game process in the best possible way in every moment, and the music of the game is also fantastic.

This game is by far one of the greatest in a long time. From the story to the action there's not a single unsatisfying part in this absolute artwork of a game.

When God is war first came out, the graphics and story line were brilliant, now with Ragnorak they have got even better,. You won't want to skip anything! The boss fights are amazing, the smaller battles just as intense in parts. Swap from insanely hard to easier play, if you get stuck! Even as a dedicated gamer, some battles 1st play so intense, it will take several attempts! With all types of weapons from ice swords to plasma beams to long greatswords. The game has everything you can think of!
    Best game of all time.
If you enjoy a full action storyline game, every moment played, you won't be disappointed.
Hopefully God of War 3 will be made.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Cons:
-The title of the game is Ragnarok, however Ragnarok is only the last 20 minutes of the main story, 99% of the game is more about Fimbulwinter
-"Giant stuff" aka we writers just do whatever we want whenever we want, and we don't have to make sense or be consistent, or establish anything prior
-The camera, way too zoomed in for the combat
    -Plotlines that go nowhere
-Random characters suddenly dying all heroically with 0 prior development, or being introduced with no reason or purpose, go nowhere, serve nothing
-The 2nd fight with Thor was underwhelming as hell, with less epic and scale than the first fight. Literally everything was less. Didn't live up to the incredible hype built up around it at all, like c'mon, it was supposed to be the titans of the verse clashing
-Generally the invasion of Asgard is lame, all the cool stuff happens in the background while you're running around killing same old tired enemies in small arenas
-Freyr's character is just terrible, he's more marvel than the squirrel
-The new Valk queen has much smaller moveset than Sigrun, not nearly as developed
-Atreus’ movelist is not developed enough, it starts off fine, even good, but becomes stale starting from mid-game. He has 1 weapon that has smaller moveset than 1 weapon with Kratos, even though Kratos has 3

-Angrboda is black for no reason. Kratos and Atreus are not a counterargument to this, for a simple reason that Kratos ISN'T norse, he's a Greek immigrant, it's not like they took a norse character and made him Greek, while Aterus is obviously half-greek because his father is. It's a fundamental difference. There was needed an explanation on why Angrboda is black, some south African god immigrated to Scandinavia and mixed with giants just a generation ago or something. I'm not against them taking creative freedoms, including with heritages of characters, but there has to be a reason and a purpose. The way it stands she's just black out of nowhere for no reason. The same is true for the Boar
-Angrboda, she's also a plot device that just appears whenever and wherever the plot needs her
-Sif has an ugly square face(personal gripe i admit)
-No breasts in the game. This can be a valid complaint, the franchise used to deliver on this front. I don't understand why they stopped? Because they were trying to make the games more mature? Then well deliver it in more of a mature way. I personally didn't like how old games approached nudity and erotica. There was a space for improvement, instead they just completely removed this side of the series(Have Atreus make Sif hold a door while naked, but also not let her die - progress!)

-Mimir unironically turned into Memer, character regression
-Kratos might as well join the avengers at this point
-Kratos:"To win in a war you must be ready to sacrifice everything!", literally 15 minutes later "I was wrong, we won't sacrifice these randoms". I get the idea, but the pacing, the execution.. it just doesn't work
-Marvel type of dialogue all throughout the game
-Tyr was ACTUALLY ALIVE, for NO **** reason, just WHY?
-Freya is annoying as hell, even her mid-combat dialogue, she backseats all the time, with very annoying mannerism. She's also old and ugly, which doesn't fit because she's supposed to be the goddess of fertility. I also don't like that she forgave Kratos, but i was on Baldur's side in their conflict in the first game. To the end she refused to understand him, which is one of the reasons why he ended up dead, her allowing Baldur to try to kill her was her fundamentally misunderstanding what he wants from her. The game never calls her out on this

-Odin kills Thor for literally no goddamn reason, a plot contrivance in attempt of portraying him as completely unlikable intrinsic evil. The entire situation is a plot contrivance, it's just trash. First Kratos and Thor are fighting and even when it's clear that Thor won't be winning Odin doesn't interfere at all, even though Thor is his best shot at getting rid of Kratos, he just lets Kratos defeat Thor and spare him. What was the plan with coming RIGHT AFTER the fight and starting to nag on Thor, even though Thor just lost? Clearly the best course of actions would be to interfere before Thor lost and tag team Kratos. Generally Odin was turned into senile old ****** the last stretch of the game for the sake of the cheap plot the writers wanted to tell
-Why did Odin not tell Heimdall about the Draupnir Spear? Why did Odin allow Heimdall to leave Asgard even though it was the safest place possible, and the risk of him failing was Ragnarok itself? Why did he even allow him to carry the ******* horn with him? Obviously because writers wanted Ragnarok to happen, and didn't know any other way to do it without turning Odin into a ******

    Pros:
They're obvious, i mean i gave the game 6/10 even though i complained about it non-stop above. The 2018 was great, so with that kind of foundation it was never going to be trash

Sometimes a game is both good and incredibly overrated. Like GoW 2018, production value and story are top notch but the combat holding it all together is functional but gets stale quickly due to lack of options for player expression. Enemy variety is better here though, so that helps. Nothing like how **** insulting it was to the player's time and intelligence fighting elemental troll #37.

This game may be good for a first play through because of the initial impressions, but the game is not inviting to play multiple times because of the boring and tiring parts with Atreus. The story left much to be desired with simplistic explanations and lack of explanations for other parts of the story. The potential of Ragnarok was thrown away, where did they put the gods in the game? We only faced three and even then we only killed one, the fight against Thor and Odin together did not cause the same destruction as the fight against Baudur in the first game, which is incomprehensible in my point of view. They left Kratos' future open because they did not leave him with motivation to move forward, he became the king of the 8 realms, but what comes after? We want the god killer back. (Atreus does not have the personality to replace the god of war, he is a very good boy). Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. God of War Ragnarok was a game that completely sold me in the beginning but later lost me a bit towards the end. The whole game felt like trying to cram in every story element meant for 3 games into one game. As the game progressed, it was rushed and came to an unsatisfying conclusion to the Norse saga.

While outstanding, the gameplay is still almost the same as the 2018 version, and although the devs mentioned that they will keep the same engine, it would've been nice with upgraded gimmicks of puzzles, attacks, etc. However, the gameplay is not much of an issue since the gameplay for God of War 2018 was good, and bringing something good into another thing remains the same.

The most important reason why I gave my score is because of the story. For a game adapted from Norse mythology, the story is very small and lacks the variety of the original myth and the number of characters. We only see a handful of Norse gods and we get to fight only three of them. The Ragnarok event is also underwhelming. Although the story gives a reasonable excuse as to why it ended so quickly, it could have stretched out the literal war against the Aesir. If the game took some of the minutes given to Iron Wood and put them into Ragnarok, it could've saved it from being this underwhelming.

In conclusion, while the game aspect of God of War Ragnarok was great, the story and the pacing really made the experience very mediocre. With the lack of pacing and good storytelling, this game makes the Norse saga as a whole more of a long DLC of 2018 than anything. I would've greatly preferred this saga be a trilogy than a duology and I expect this series to do so in the next saga.

Kratos´s and Freya´s character arcs aren´t great. The latter is too generic and fast paced, the former is messy at worst and did something pretty outrageous considering what went on the first game and who he is. This game had more enemy variety which is good, the combat is still great , the graphics are great, the story pacing is all over the place. I adored the "first" God of War game released on the PS4. I was praying that this game would be my GOTY when it eventually came out. This has to be part of the reason why I was pretty disappointed when the game was released. The game I envisioned and the game that came out were two very different things, in gameplay and narrative. I completed the game in two sittings, which I entirely expected to. The first section of the narrative was everything I dreamed of, a clash I had waited years for, seeing characters only ever mentioned in the first game. That is why I was so disappointed when it came to the rest of the game. I entirely expected this to be the second entry in a trilogy of games, but it feels like they kneecapped their narrative with a rushed ending that felt entirely unearned, at least to me. I really wanted this game to be a 10/10, but personally, it let me down. Just not the game or narrative for me. Expand

I can't help but tip my hat to the entire Santa Monica team. The deeper you delve into the game, the more you'll be drawn into the stunning story of a father and son against the backdrop of perhaps history's most horrific war. Throw in some casually endearing humour, great and fluid gameplay, and wrap it all up with an amazing audiovisual experience. [Issue#323]
