Ghostrunner is one of the most polished, gameplay-focused experiences in the cyberpunk genre. It is more than an enjoyable and decent challenge, especially if you're an avid gamer. If you die, it is 100% your fault, so you must try every single strategy that comes to your mind to break the loop. But once you master all the elements of the game's combat, it becomes very satisfying. And I think that's the peak, priceless moment of this amazing game.

It may have a half-baked premise, but don’t let that put you off of Ghostrunner. The gameplay far outweighs it, and once you get your head in the game, it’s so utterly rewarding. Hard, yes, but oh so incredible when you grasp it. Lose yourself in the visuals and synthwave as you rise to the top.

I found joy in Ghostrunner where some would find frustration. The precision that is needed to meander through waves of enemies and platforming challenges sometimes seems overwhelming. However, when you finally overcome that tricky section you have been dying over and over on for a while, the feeling is magnificent. The PlayStation 5 updates really enhance Ghostrunner, especially the Dualsense controller, I do feel this is the best place to play this unique title.

While the fast loading times and updated graphics show off the beauty of Dharma City's neon-grunge aesthetic and keep players in the action, it's ultimately the same experience. Screen Rant's first Ghostrunner review perfectly sums up the PS5 version's experience, in that it's "Sometimes Fast, Sometimes Slow." Ghostrunner is a great game that provides a proper adrenaline rush when everything works as intended, but those hoping for any significant changes in this next-gen version will be disappointed.

The new Ghostrunner game can be a pain in the stomach sometimes, but at the same time it's one of the most unique first person action games that offers tons of fast-paced, fun gameplay.
  6. Ghostrunner offers a nice cyberpunk adventure for patient players with it's fast action and next generation updates. It's not for every player, but it's definitely an experience that should be tried.

At its best, Ghostrunner provides truly thrilling action that feels alive. Rough level design and a few too many mechanics that don’t always fit together get in the way a little too often, though. There are definitely players looking for just what Ghostrunner offers, but they won’t find a smooth ride.

I have been playing video games for 5 years now. Despite this, I can say without a doubt that this is my favorite game ever. Thank you developers!

Worth My Money: Yes, it's included with PS+ Extra.

What I Like: Has tons of style, but also substance. The mechanics are really tight. Chaining moves together is so satisfying. As far as PS5 ports go, it's one of the few games so far that has a good ray tracing mode, but I still prefer the 120FPS mode.

What I Dislike: AI can display erratic behaviour sometimes which can be frustrating, even with the instant respawn. Not the biggest fan of the skill system. Boss fights are extremely underwhelming. Quite a short game with a predictable story and anticlimactic ending.

How It Stacks Up: I like it more than Mirror's Edge, which was about momentum and puzzle solving. This game is more about precision platforming and optimizing routes. It is a mix between Mirror's Edge and games like Super Meat Boy. In terms of ports of PS4 games go, this one is quite good and benefits greatly from the increased performance. Worth checking out since it's included in PS+ Extra and is a small download. You'll know after the first 30 mins whether you'll like it enough to see through the 7 hours it takes to beat the game.

Completing a run is very fulfilling and it might take 50-100 trys but when you complete something in this game it feels great. Im running my game on performance mode and have not had 1 issue. Great music also. Expand

This worthless game is so hard that you can't even skip its steps, don't buy it at all and it's not worth playing.
