    Judging FF16 on its merits! Story is great. Battles are awesome. The music is fantastic!!!!! Most side quests focused more on worldbuilding. It's definitely light on the RPG mechanics but its doing its own thing like every other entry in the series. A must-play experience in my opinion!!!

I don't think they will ever eclipse these, but Final Fantasy XVI is the closest they've got in many years with matching the sheer quality of them. It is graphically amazing, the voice acting is superb, and it shocks with it's dark moments in the storytelling.

    I won't go into too much    I've been a Final Fantasy fan since FFIV, and my personal favorites are VII, VIII, IX and X like many.... I don't think they will ever eclipse these, but Final Fantasy XVI is the closest they've got in many years with matching the sheer quality of them. It is graphically amazing, the voice acting is superb, and it shocks with it's dark moments in the storytelling.

    I won't go into too much detail on gameplay, or mechanics as many reviews have already, but the pacing, the lead character and supporting cast are well integrated into this medieval Valisthea. I love what they've done with the Gameplay, it improves on FF XV fighting, with a Devil May Cry esque style of play switching between Eikons at the touch of a button, utilising more move sets to beat your foes.

    I can't believe we're still in the era of people reviewing 0/10 when they probably haven't even played the demo let alone the game, and quite frankly even if they didn't like the game, nothing is worthy of a 0 - my most hated games will still be a 3 to 5 out of 10.

    FFXVI's combat and story far exceeds expectations, Side Quest are boring somewhat but luckily OPTIONAL and the story does have "funny haha" moments in the middle of serious set pieces. 10/10

    My Game of The Year so far. Great combat, great story, great visuals, greats music, awesome action sequences and cut scenes. Final Fantasy successfully reinvents itself once again. Highly recommended.

    La historia de este juego es increíble, los personajes están muy bien cuidados, el combate es una delicia y la banda sonora es brillante. Clive es de los mejores protagonistas de los videojuegos en mi opinión. El juego está lleno de momentos épicos, también algunos donde puedas soltar alguna lágrima.

    I thoroughly enjoyed FF16. It is refreshing to see Square-Enix get back to making bangers. In my opinion, the game delivers hard on the combat, story, character development, soundtrack, and graphics. It is not turned based and I am ok with it.

    Je suis conquis par ce jeu magnifique. J'en suis actuellement à 20h de jeu, l'histoire est palpitante, sombre et captivante. Le gameplay est addictif et pourtant je suis un fan du tour par tour. Certains combats m'ont donné des frissons. Les quêtes annexes certaines sont vraiment intéressantes d'autres beaucoup moins. Niveau graphismes bah on en prend plein la vue c'est beau.

As a fan of the franchise since it was on the NES I can tell you this game was awesome, the fact you can play the beta and pick up the story along with keeping currency was an awesome take, the game play isn’t as boring as people make it unless you use multiple assists to make it easier with one hand. The story is articulate and a wonderful masterpiece especially looking at the open areas. This game is GOTY with nothing coming close to it.… Expand

    Amazing story! Side quests can fell a bit massive at some times, but the pieces of story they gave you is so much worth. I do recommend this game to anyone who likes an action gamez in the likes of god war.
    And the story just shines , what an amazing ending, it has been a long time since i played something like this

    It's an amazing entry to the series with cinematic Battles, Cutscenes and loveable characters.
    The world is open with a linear type level design which I really enjoyed.
    The Story is amazing with a sense of Game of Thrones influence and the side quests are sometimes tedious, but added immersion to the World of Valisthea.     So many hours and so much fun. I cannot stop playing this game. It is thee best game of 2023. Story, Characters, Performance, Music, Combat etc 10/10. I haven't been this happy playing as I have been with this game. Thank you PlayStation and SE.

Innovaton there is a 100 ! Here is a mistake , for the other poor graphics it is ok , here why so much ? Wheres the roots ? To resume , ff16 is AWESOME and no less than a 100 !     gameplay is way better than ff15, more like DMC style, and the music is stellar
    Clive is such a great protagonist as well, you can definitely relate to the moments with him, the cast is also memorable.

    Excellent game. I never finish single-player games, but this one made me keep wanting to play and find out what happens next. Awesome story, combat, mechanics, music, and everything else.

    The only issue I currently have with the game is the frame rate in certain areas, which hopefully they will patch eventually.

    I didn’t think I’d be writing this, but this is a surprisingly awesome game after all the mediocre to bad ones recently. I’m impressed. Keep this up! While it may be more of an epic action adventure than an RPG, it is an amazing one as such and deserves the name final fantasy!

It has a great combat even if it's sadly a bit on the easy side, great boss battles, AMAZING soundtrack and a gripping story that keeps you on the edge. Pacing is very inconsistent with sometimes going from set piece to set piece back to back and then doing filler stuff for 10 hours after that though. Despite it's issuesIt's possibly the most complete new AAA game that came out this year.     This game is a huge step forward compared to FFXV. The combat, story, world, and exploration is so much more refreshing and better. My only complain is the quest system and how it feels dull. They added some cool RPG mechanics similar to the Witcher and Diablo so that’s a plus.

    All the characters were so important, excellent game, I recommend everyone to play it, impressive soundtrack, the only bad thing is having to beat the game to choose the maximum difficulty.

There is no stuttering, just some consistent frame drops out of combat when your in tight spaces with lots going on. Everywhere else is impossible to notice pretty much. It's very pleasing to the eyes, motion blur is terrible for my eyes and I have no issues. I gotThis game is way better than FF 15 in every way possible. Combat is better than Remake, I said it. I went into this game hating it from the reviews and I was 100% proved wrong. I wanted to hate this game and return it immediately but to my shock this game is a solid 9/10 and it's totally new which means in 2023 it's a 10/10 masterpiece that surpasses Elden Ring and GOWR. I played all 3 and this game is much better on your first playthrough. GOWR is second, Elden Ring is 3rd and TOTK is 4th. I'm very unbiased as far as games go, I played every From Software game along with Elden Ring and I quit 70% of the way through because it was too much of the same thing. I finished GOWR and it was amazing but it was stale from the first one on PS4, I needed something totally new and FF 16 gave me that on a silver platter and I couldn't help myself it hit the spot man I'm telling you. If it's got my eyes glued to the screen because of the story and gameplay then I guarantee it'll have everyone glued.… Expand

    This is one of the best video games in very long time. It's more similar to FF7Remake, than 90s FF games and that's how it needs to be. This is what modern FF is and if you don't like it, move on to somethin else.

    Having finally played the game, however, I can safely say that Final Fantasy XVI lived up to my expectations for the most part, and it even exceeded them in some areas; the story, for example, while not perfect, is arguably my favorite in the entire series, and the characters are fantastic too.
    The gameplay is basically Devil May Cry 5 but less complex... but I love it nonetheless. The RPG elements are toned down for sure, but the action combat system and abilities are very enjoyable.
    Also, the visuals are gorgeous, the music is epic as hell, and the boss fights... OH. MY. GOD! The Eikon bosses and the final boss in particular are probably the most spectacular bosses I've ever seen in a videogame.
    Unfortunately, however, Final Fantasy XVI has some noticeable flaws as well; first of all, the game runs at below 60 FPS, which is borderline unacceptable in my opinion.
    The mandatory fetch quests are my biggest problem with the game because they slow down the story at times.
    Lastly, the world is kinda empty; it needs minigames and more content, but that's not a big deal for me personally.

I’ve played a lot of FF games in the past but this one had a different impact on me than the others. I hope this style combat sticks around because it was a lot of fun and you could make some seriously crazy, powerful builds. The battles, when I started I was like "well, it's OK", then I battled the first boss, i just thought "Holy cow, wtf was that", everything it's just epic. Song, scenario, story, actors.     Game is fantastic.
    The story is really good although the side quests can draw the game out too much.The combat is fun albeit a tad easy, but thats okay because its still fun.

    Overall its a nice departure from the same boring turn based and I hope all the FF games are like this,Im over 100 hours in and havent even beaten the main story yet!

    Review update to clarify some comments i have seen against the game:

    Story being slow paced: did harry potter movies were always fast paced? Lol? Is called building up the story, characters etc. And final fantasy 16 did a good job at that.

    Predictable story: i admit that when clive was about to being killed at times, it was predictable that he was going to be saved. But is obvious that will happen, he is the main character! They never die unless context is given for his death. (Something the last of us 2 failed to do).

    Not the same as other ff games: i have been checking out the scores of other past ff games, and the only that is well received is final fantasy 9. So is not true that ff 16 is bad when compared to other ff games. However i do admit a change is never well received by others (zelda becoming open world and no more good history, i will never play it again)
    So ff16 being different should affect someone depending on how much of a fan he is to the series. I never played a ff game before, but i have played nier and dmc 3, and ff16 is similar in gameplay.

    No open world: is up to you to decide, i personally hate them because i am fan of games with a history and character development, good voice acting, and music. I dont have time to explore every inch of a map.

    Side missions being boring: at first yes, but once you reach the capital the side missions get more sad and add context to the story and how people are mistreated.

    Score is a solid 9. Is way more elaborated than those recent crappy zelda games, i promise you that.

    9 out of 10, not less than 8 Buy it! Support yoshi p, he and yoko taro are what keeps the game industry alive!

    Played the demo and have NEVER played a final fantasy game before. First, the writing, narratives, and cinematics are wow, awesome, best i have ever seen in any video game i have played. The gameplay seems simple though, problaby repetitive, and the enemies are easy to kill. The music is wow, awesome. Will not better than nier automata, but is very nice.

    The plot is very interesting, but too pretentious for my taste.

    Mmmm idk, i give it a 8. It costs 70 dollars, but botw costs 70 dollars too and it is the same game lol. Mmmm if you have a good surround system and tv then yea buy it!. Else just watch it on youtube. But again i played the demo, maybe the game picks up better in gameplay and enemy difficulty after the demo?

    The combat, story and music are all en pointe. The side quests you may feel are basic at first but stick with them? they really build the world, characters and give you access to items you wouldn’t otherwise get! The boss fights are epic and the ability to respec is appreciated. The characters are really great and the voice acting is superb.

    It helps to go in with an open mind, don't expect the FF of old, it hasn't been turn based in over two decades.

    People complaining that they wanted an open world, yes there are video games like that and they are great, but WHY SHOULD FFXVI SHOULD BE OPEN WORLD?! it doesn't need this if you want open world go and replay Elders ring or whatever.
    People complaining about graphics blurry...... Really? did you ever played Undertale? great game no graphics whatsoever, if you want graphics go watch a movie then.
    People just want to hate this game because It's easy, Xbox fans maybe hitting the 0 zero score just because of that, but hey It's only exclusive for 6 months!, you will play it too Xbox lover and you will fall in love just hold your hate a little bit more.

    It's an amazing Final fantasy game. Story, cutscenes, voice actors and music are amazing. It's a must buy game if you have PS5. My only complaint is perfomance, It's playable but still need patch to fix frame-rate up. Overall amazing game 9.5/10

I just hope that for the next FF they will go back to the more RPG gameplay like 7-10 (even 12, 13 and 15 a bit). Overall the game has some parts where the plot loses a bit of its momentum but just to pick it right back up and multiply it by a ton.
