    Wonderful game, the story and "vibe" is as Final fantasy as you can get.

    Yoshi-P was very clear from the start that it was an action RPG, he delivered in spades.

    Incredibly fun sequences, a beautiful world, and a solid final fantasy type story, this game has it all. Personally, I think the characters are well built although I wish side quests would focus more on the characters rather than helping with menial tasks. Certain parts of the game may drag on but there's always something around the corner to make up for it.     Extremely impressed with the story and the combat. This is still Final Fantasy in spirit, and has finally turned me around on the need for turn based combat. If the plot and writing are this good, with a combat system I enjoy, tradition isn’t so important after all.

    Great entry to the series, it's dark setting and modernized gameplay really makes this game a nice experience. The team behind this shines with their experience with the work on FF14.     I finished the game, the side quests are free creative and engaging. Never got board while playing the story. It is one of the best game that I played for a long time. I downloaded the whole sound track to listen to while driving around

    Disclaimer: I lost interest in FF games after FFIX. While I tried every FF game since, they never quite held my interest after the PS1 titles. I’m the odd duck that thought FFVIII was the best FF game and XVI, to me, feels like this gen’s embodiment of what VIII was. Beautiful game, dark undertones, amazing, serious adult characters that feel more dramatic. It’s a slow burn for the firstDisclaimer: I lost interest in FF games after FFIX. Plus the growth paths they go on are unbelievable. The side quest generate this amazing rich world, where you see your base grow, and the people directly benefit from your input.     Great combat and a great soundtrack, eikon battles are massive and epic.
    you can do a lot of combinations thanks to the eikon mechanics you can also equip other eikon abilities to a specific eikon, the hunt system and the exploration is great, lots of open areas to explore and of course, the story is great, amazing at it's core!

    Masterpiece. Eikon on Eikon battles are some of the most epic gameplay scenes I've ever played through in a video game.

    Combat and action are top notch, and some cutscenes are jaw dropping and make action movies look silly compared to this. This game knows what it wants to be and it's pretty good at it. My 2023 goty for now

    I was very upset at first when the game felt stage based and linear but was quickly reminded of how the world of Final Fantasy XIV felt and    I was entraced by the voice acting and the abundance of emotions the characters exhibit.. the Game play is addictive and the story keeps pulling you in then throws you head first into the sky when these eikonic beasts duke it out on a collosal scale.

    Incredible. The narrative, combat and visual style is all perfect. Really cool how they let you scale up or down the difficulty of combat so you can choose a more involved experience for when you're feeling like a challenge but also there's an option for an easier setting if you feel like more of a narrative focused experience.

    Final fantasy 16 is the best so far yet. Im glad its not a jrpg those type of games arnt popular no more. Game looks and feel amazing and the story keeps me intrigued. From a player who has the game and is enjoying it. Good job square enix/soft.

    Easily in my top 3 favourite ffs. Just behind ff9 and ff8 I belong to that gang who hasn't properly enjoyed an ff since ffx. I haven't played 11 or 14 But 16 is back to glory.

Honestly The emotional atmosphere and story harkens back to the old days of final fantasy. vibes of 456 and even 1 in there. The combat is extremely fun, but can get a tad stale when you've gone without any new abilities for a bit.     I usually prefer turn based rpgs because I have a motor disability. However playing FF16 on story mode was actually quite easy and I didn’t run into much trouble at all and just beat it. I like the story which is more political like game of thrones . Clive and the other characters were all very well thought out and acted . And the visuals and music was great.     The combat system was a complete 10/10, the soundtrack was beyond anything imaginable (expected from Soken), the side quests flowed nicely with the main story (some of them even made me tear up at some point) and accessibility features were good enough even if I didn't use them.

    This game is amazing, from the characters and story to the soundtrack. As a big fan of the series, I must say I'm so very impressed, definitely one of the best games of the franchise.
    I truly don't understand all those 0 reviews.. I mean I do, they are all from a) FF purists b) SJW and c) non-FF fans who say they are because they drown in nostalgia.

    This has quickly become one of my favorite Final Fantasy games. The story, characters, music, and combat are all simply amazing. I also think this is the best world building we've ever seen in a Final Fantasy game. As a long time fan of the series, I give this one the full 10.

    I only played the demo so far but have to rate this now because this review bomb is a joke. Immaculate story telling and FF lore is why we play these games, not so you can access a menu to cast fira. Please **** off.

    The battle experience I gained from this game is unparalleled and cannot be replicated elsewhere. Additionally, the subquests greatly supported the background of the world. The world was not only the "dialog" in the msg, it is alive now.

    Personally, I strongly recommend the arcade mode. It is quite difficult, just like the soulslike game.

    Its a must play. this is the most Final fantasy feeling game I have played. People complaing about not being turn based, so let me remind you there hasn't been a turn based ff in 21 years.

    I really enjoy the cinematography in almost every cutscene. I remember there was this one ambush scene where if you pay attention you see an axe in the corner of the scene for a fraction of a second. Then 30 seconds later that axe is hurled into a guys shoulder-blade. This game thrives on dramatic irony. You know whats going to happen long before the characters do.

    a true return to a triumphant FINAL FANTASY narrative. Eikon battles are what i've dreamed when as a kid, watching summons blur out and shine the whole screen, finally taking place in action and unfolding before our very eyes. Also, Soken is a genius.

    About performance, the Quality mode is flawless, but the performance one needs some improvements, for a new player I would tell you to play in Quality mode.

    The game always needs a disable motion blur option, which was already confirmed to come at a later patch.~

    All being said, buy this game and enjoy it, ignore people who just review bomb because it's not turn-based and lacks black people, which is the main reason they complain since the game isn't all white people like they like to spread misinformation.    … Expand

    As an FFXIV player I can say I got what I expected. S tier story, S tier music, S tier characters, I kinda suck at action combat but I got much better over time and the learning curve and progression is fun and meaningful. The peak story moments which gave me goosebumps in FFXIV are much more enhanced in this game. Cried multiple times, cheered on the characters when they were struggling.As an FFXIV player I can say I got what I expected. The peak story moments which gave me goosebumps in FFXIV are much more enhanced in this game. Cried multiple times, cheered on the characters when they were struggling. Felt every single thing the developers intended me to feel.

    Story is Final Fantasy alright, at one point you feel like you know where it's going but then yeah... it was good.

    Graphics: absolutely stunning, really pushing PS5 to its limits and I'm sure could be even better once the PC release gets out.

    The soundtrack, voice acting and cinematography is some of the best in gaming to date. The music is banger throughout and is masterfully arranged and synced to fit each scene. The darker setting and more mature themes complimented the atmosphere and depth of the world without feeling forced.

    The characters had personality and seemed to have real motivations and values with quality voice acting and animation really bringing them alive

    The difficulty with the initially available options felt slightly too easy, but then you can always play for example without using potions if you want more of a challenge right away.

    Sure, many of the side quests were simple fetch/kill quests, but they also contributed to the world building and atmosphere and eventually tied together nicely with the overall plot of the game.

    There are some flaws like in any game and the genre/style isn't for everyone, but for me the highest of highs in this game were so far beyond anything I've experienced in years that I can overlook some of the flaws and the overall experience was worth 10/10.    … Expand

    I was a little bit sceptical at first, because the combat felt very simple, but once you get the first 3 Eikons, it feels way better, the amount of abilities you get to unlock as you progress throughout is kind of crazy, there are many Eikons to get by progressing the main story, and every single one has a different moveset, which makes combat feel fresh.

    Also I got to say, I was expecting the exploration to be way more restrictive but it's actually the opposite, there's a good amount of exploration, many side quests and areas to explore, and you can even hunt down monsters for materials to craft equipment. It takes a while for the game to open up though, it's very linear in the beginning, and has a lot of cutscenes that can be annoying, but once it opens up, it gets significantly better.

    The story is one of my favorite stories the series has to offer, it's pretty dark and serious, has so many twists and turns, and arguably some of the highest peaks in any game I've ever played. The cutscenes are gorgeous and the boss fights are absolutely jaw-dropping, not only in terms of spectacle but also in terms of gameplay, they're so god damn fun, probably the highlight of the entire game actually.
    Even the characters are very well written, Clive is my favorite protagonist in the series, and the side characters are very likeable and relatable in many ways. Their side stories are actually interesting, you can really tell how much love and effort was put into the story overall.

    As expected, the soundtrack is incredible, even though there's one moment in the game where the music didn't really fit in my opinion, every other track is amazing and very much fitting, I found myself either humming some melodies or even singing along to some songs as I was playing.

    What blew me away though is the Thousand Tomes, which works as some sort of a library for the game's world and lore where every single piece of information can be found there. It's honestly so important and useful, so much information and things to read so you can keep up with the story, learn about the characters, the monsters, the wars, the secrets of the world and pretty much everything the game has to offer. I actually reached the max level because I spend so much time collecting everything and it was a blast, for the first time ever in a videogame I genuinely loved reading, and finding out new information was always very exciting.

    That being said, I do have some few complaints to make, with the most obvious one being the tedious side quests, I actually did all of them yes, I spend way too much time in this game, it took me 77 hours to finish it because I did everything in the world and then finished the main story, and honestly... the side quest I genuinely liked were very few, specifically near the end of the game. Most side quests for like 80% of the game are actually kind of boring, they're not badly written in fact it's the other way around, the stories they tell are decent, it's just that all of them are somewhat the same, you go somewhere, kill someone or collect something, go back to the person you first talked to, thats it.

    Another issue is the amount of fetch quests specifically in the middle of the story, from 40% all the way to 60%, the pacing slows down and there's just a lot of random fetch quests that actually feel like filler content.

    Other than that, even with the issues I have, I'm in love with this game, playing it for the first time felt like a dream come true. What a beautiful experience, It's just so close to being a masterpiece.

    It's easy to see how marvelous this game is the moment you get to the title screen. 25 hours in and I've enjoyed every single second. It's also the first time in any game I've ever utilized Photo Mode. Truly a technical marvel. No serious complaints whatsoever.

    Since release day, I haven’t been able to stop playing. The game is beautiful, the combat is excellent and the story is one of the best I’ve experienced this generation. If you’re a fan of story driven games with a lot of fun combat and some of the best looking bosses in gaming, you will love FF16. A must play for JRPG fans. Don’t miss out on this masterpiece.

    I really love this game. The story and twists are even better than in Game of Thrones.
    I think the side quests could be more exciting. Sometimes, like 2 out of 10, you just need to fetch or deliver something. I thought about skipping them, but don't do that. Some quests add a lot to the story.

    Overall, I'm happy with the game, I highly suggest you try it.
