All in all, I am excited to revisit and finally finish Deacon’s story and with the inclusion of the Broken Road DLC as well as the new Horde mode there is a lot of extra and brand-new content for players to explore. I just really don’t understand the wisdom of doing this remaster, while I am sure the fans appreciate it very much; I didn’t think Sony was moving forward with the franchise. So, to invest money in this remaster just seems like giving some false hope to fans that are interested in seeing more from Deacon and gang but who am I, just a black guy reviewing games. I am sure Sony knows what they are doing……right?

As a game, if it were released today and as it is in the remaster, Days Gone could become even more popular with players. As a product, this remaster is questionable in several ways, showing that it can only be used by those who are big fans of Days Gone and are willing to pay full price again for a game they already own and see few new features, besides new bugs. And of course, it is a great way for new players to enter this world, perhaps the best version of the game. It is confusing, but it is the choice that Sony made.

Days Gone Remastered looks and feels better than the original, offering welcome accessibility features, more challenge, and enhanced visuals. But the old issues, primarily poor pacing, underwhelming story, and repetition, plague this open-world adventure. If you're looking for a decent zombie-slaying survival game, you'll be satisfied with this but don't expect a bump-free ride.

Days Gone Remastered arrives as the most complete version available to experience the emotional journey of Deacon St. John and his search for his wife. This open-world zombie game delivers on the expectations of the word “Remastered”—without standing out too much, but still highly enjoyable as one of Sony’s classic and misunderstood titles.

Days Gone Remastered is clearly the best version of the game to date. If you were disappointed by its technical issues on PS4, it would be time to give it a second chance. This massive update significantly improves the graphics with better lighting effects, a better resolution and a solid framerate and adds the fun new mode: Horde Assault. PS5 Pro players will benefit from the power of the console and will have an even better experience.

If you like open-world games with a touch of zombie action, Days Gone Remastered is worth the drive, especially for the creepy hordes and beautiful Oregon. New modes and improved visuals make it the best version of the game, but don't expect a revolution. Grab your motorbike and join Deacon - just be careful not to run out of gas!

Days Gone Remastered is an entirely basic upgrade that feels every bit like an attempt to shake some loose change from a dormant product. I’m sure the original has fans who are less ironic about it than me, but they’re the only people this’ll really speak to. If Days Gone didn’t win over enough people for Sony’s liking the first time, a slightly better looking reproduction probably won’t change matters much.

Sony's almost endless enthusiasm for remastering semi-new games for no real reason is probably known to everyone who follows the industry. One could say boringly that Days Gone Remastered is a pretty good update of a pretty good game.

Days Gone remains a mixed bag. The Remastered version is arguably the best the game has ever looked or sounded, and it's the most fun version to play. But the main gameplay loop, coupled with a terrible story and lead character, still continues to frustrate. The resulting game is a contradictory experience that's gorgeous to look at yet not much fun to play.

Days Gone Remastered is an impressive graphical upgrade to a game that survivalists will relish but lovers of mission variety might find something of a repetitive, meandering drag. If familiarity is your bag then the main game is an underrated and worthwhile 50 hours or so to get good and lost in, its percentage-based mission structure drawing the player naturally through the game and its upgrade systems allowing for swift specialisation and satisfying progress. For repeat players, the Horde Assault mode is the sole significant addition, and only then for those craving more of the visceral thrill of the main game’s massed battles. More strategic horde-destroyers may well find it frustratingly rigid and brutish.

Days Gone Remastered presents a clear and noticeable visual improvement over the original, with enhanced lighting, textures, and draw distance—though it’s hard to shake off a lingering sense of déjà vu.

That Days Gone Remastered offers a great show in Unreal Engine is evident, but net of some graphic differences, such as the improved rendering of the night sections, we can also say the same of the original incarnation of the game. Without mincing words, the two versions of the open world adventure are certainly not identical but remain comparable. Having said this, Deacon fans might find the new Horde Assault mode interesting, which allows you to experience the highest gaming merits of the production in a few minutes, between hunting large groups of Freakers - now larger than ever! - roaring escapes on motorcycles and many main and support death tools to use in battle. Those who have always wanted to get closer to Days Gone and have not been able to do so until now, could seriously consider the offer of the remastered edition: it still offers the most valid and complete way to experience a great adventure of the PS4 era, set in an Oregon as rich in charm as it is lethal.

Overall, Days Gone Remastered is a fantastic, if flawed, game. It isn’t quite as good as the games it emulates, but if “It’s not The Last of Us” is a valid complaint, then it’s one you can throw at most titles. It’s a game that absolutely deserves your time, either as a replay or for the first time.
