Born of Bread is one of the biggest surprises of the year. An initially simple RPG, but one that captivates with each new mission and companion we encounter. In addition to the visuals heavily inspired by Paper Mario, the game brings a lightness that I haven't found in a title of this genre for some time. Fun, with delicious exploration, combat that works, an excellent soundtrack and full of pop culture references, Born of Bread is a game that deserves attention and that fulfills its main objective: to entertain and, at the end of the day, leave us with a smile on his face.

Even though Born of Bread might be a touch too simplistic and straightforward for RPG stalwarts, there is no denying just how well it manages to evoke the aesthetics of Nintendo's Paper Mario series, all the while providing a wonderfully breezy genre effort that youngsters, RPG newcomers and cozy gaming aficionados can enjoy. Born of Bread is a great little RPG that is overflowing with character and charm. You can crust me on that.

Born of Bread ends up as a good RPG game and a fun experience. If you are not demanding with this type of proposals, it is an option to consider, but even more so if you have you have been distant from the genre because of the turn-based combat and everything that has to be done in the menus. In the end, this adventure made of bread serves as a good video game, remembering that there is a lot of value in turning to the past to bring it to the present in a proposal with its own soul.

Born of Bread presents a captivating adventure complemented by delightful visuals; however, its allure is diminished due to the incorporation of inadequately functional RPG elements. While the tale of an improbable hero unfolds through a straightforward narrative, the overall experience is marred by technical issues and a less-than-rewarding progression system.

Born of Bread may look unique but in reality, this is your run-of-the-mill action RPG. Some decent ideas can’t disguise the formulaic ingredients on offer. In terms of bread, it's more supermarkets’ own than an artisanal sourdough. When it comes to bread-based games, you deserve butter.

Born of Bread would grab your attention if it was in the shop window of a bakery. It has all the hallmark elements for a warm and inviting paperlike RPG, though its contents are lacklustre with a basic story, systems that punish your exploration and a combat system that needs a little tinkering. However, the heart of the game and all-around pleasantries do make it at least half a baker’s dozen.

It’s a shame that the combat of Born of Bread only feels half-baked, as it brings down what is otherwise a relatively entertaining adventure. Though while it might prove to be too irksome for some players, those who can at least tolerate it will find that the positives of the game outweigh the negatives on the whole, resulting in an RPG with plenty of charm and some genuinely funny moments.
