Aug 16, 2017Though the game does have its shortfalls, like a lackluster tutorial zone and some infuriating boss mechanics, Undertale is undoubtedly a real stroke of genius. The game plays around with conventions and tropes normally associated with RPGs and subverts them in clever ways, all while telling a deeply personal story that everyone can relate to at some point in their lives. Undertale is a game that makes the player feel and think. It’s a game that fills the player with determination, and is most certainly one that you should play.

Aug 15, 2017Undertale never fails to surprise you and unconventional things will happen when you least expect them to.

Aug 15, 2017Undertale is a clever and charming masterpiece, through and through...No game is perfect, but a very rare handful are special, exceptional examples of the best there is to offer, and Undertale stands proudly beside them.

Aug 15, 2017After playing through Undertale on PS4, I’m happy to report that everything was ported over to console perfectly (including the clever takes on saved games and more)...It's a masterfully crafted experience that I won't forget any time soon.

Aug 28, 2017Nearly two years have passed since Undertale originally released, and it still manages to be an incredibly fresh experience. Every battle is a unique puzzle that the player has to solve, and it’s impossible to count how many times I laughed at the bad jokes of Sans. I’ll never see all that the game has to offer, but that’s okay. I’d rather make friends than destroy them.

Aug 28, 2017This game is totally deserving of the hype its received since it first launched on PC two years ago. Although its not the prettiest, it is one of the most original.
-
Aug 24, 2017Two years old it may be, but Undertale arrives on PS4 feeling as timeless and inventive as ever.

Sep 15, 2017Undertale is the rare RPG that makes you feel tons of different emotions.
-
Playstation Official Magazine UKOct 15, 2017It's masterful, and practically unique - which is just about the best way to describe the game as a whole. [Nov 2017, p.88]
-
Sep 7, 2017A work so genial and original, where the definitions of "right" and "wrong" acquire new meanings, and in which the impact of our decisions takes on a tangible value.
-
Aug 22, 2017Undertale is landmark RPG for those who appreciate something a little different – a game that wrong foots you and delights with the way it mixes up the tried and tested formula which so many adventure games stick so tightly to. A rare pleasure.
-
Aug 19, 2017You wouldn't know it with a passing glance, but it's one of the most progressive and innovative RPGs to come in a long time, breaking down tradition for the sake of invention, with great success.

Aug 16, 2017What I'd forgotten since first experiencing the game back in 2015 was that Undertale is more than just internet jokes, amazing music, and crazy boss battles — it's a heartwarming, beautiful, and tearful romp. I said at the beginning there was nothing like Undertale at the time, and there still is nothing else like it. It's hard to explain what makes Undertale so special without spoiling a lot of it, but all you need to know is that this is a modern classic at its most accessible, and it's worthy of your time, whether you're new to the game or returning for another adventure. This review should fill you with determination to play Undertale.
-
Aug 15, 2017Undertale is a superb indie role-player that proves once again that it’s not graphics that make a game entertaining but gameplay and great ideas.
-
Sep 8, 2017With all its humour, imagination and raw emotion it is really difficult not to fall in love with Undertale.

Aug 22, 2017Undertale's reputation is a heavy burden when you launch it two years later in a new platform. It isn't flawless at all. The price, taking into consideration it's an English only game, may turn off may people. However, trying to enjoy all of its routes and extremely polished plot and situations is something that is worth while in the long term. Not a game for everyone, that's for sure, but if you see it on sale, is a cultural phenomenon you should try for yourself.

Sep 12, 2017Despite the fact that Undertale didn't tick all my boxes, it was still an enjoyable game. Its visuals and music brought to mind some of my most cherished memories from my formative years, and are top-notch even for games that try to evoke that retro vibe. Its narrative is tongue-in-cheek and consistantly sends surprises the player's way. The game excels at asking players to enjoy it in ways that are incongruous with the traditional way RPGs are designed. Unfortunately, those looking for a more traditional experience may feel short-changed here. The lion's share of the game's character, lore, and emotional impact is experienced by challenging yourself to play the entire game in a completely different fashion.
