Good graphics, smooth controls, fun puzzles, and okay stories. However, the whole game dries out quickly after several chapters. Sure, climbing and sliding feel extremely fun at the beginning, but it gets tedious really fast. At some point of the game, I felt so underwhelmed that I almost gave up on the game because I don't want to climb over a freaking hill to progress the story line.

This game disappointed me. Compared to the other Uncharted games, this seemed to have less puzzles and more focus on shooting, but without doing anything to improve or vary the rather poor shooting experience from the previous games. Compared to the other Uncharted games, this seemed to have less puzzles and more focus on shooting, but without doing anything to improve or vary the rather poor shooting experience from the previous games. Also, there was less environment variation - most of it felt like slightly different types of jungle. Uncharted 3 had a desert, an airplane, a sinking ship, some icy mountain, a french ruin... and yeah, jungle. This game left me feeling like I had been treading the same jungle five times, doing the same moves and autoclimbing up the same rockfaces over and over again to look at different nice views. What comes after this pirate-y jungle, you think? Oh my, it's a slightly flooded pirate-y jungle...

The story featured overly long cutscenes, mostly with Nate being annoying and boring and trying to talk everyone out of adventuring (WTF?!? I *want* to go adventuring, that's why I bought the game... so why am I stuck with a main character who whines about giving up and going home every chance he gets?)

There was no sense of accomplishment, and I was especially put off by the final bossfight. While it was visually appealing, there is something very uncool about introducing a new game mechanic (fencing) at the final moment. Also, the fencing mechanics were very poor, leaving you with little or no control and no access to your regular moves.

While visually appealing, this game had no soul and it has no replay value. The campaign felt short and repetitive, with very little (nothing?) new being introduced to distinguish this from the previous games.

    I feel cheated.

Matchmaking is broken, you constantly get paired up with people below your skill level and paired up against people way beyond your skill level. Sometimes you get into a game that has already started. Giving you almost no score at all, the team you get paired up with though alwes seems to lose. It also has some balancing issues. Some weapons will kill you in 2-3 shots. You can shoot 20 bullets into a guy with a machine gun and he doesn't die, if he's using a pistol he will kill you in 3-4 shots. Yes. A pistol. Only thing that will keep you playing is collecting all the skins, hats and weapons.

Other than that, amazing game. I don't recommend buying it for $60, though. Wait for a sale.

    Pro’s:
    -Good story, great ending/epilogue.
    -Excellent graphics (at times).
-Cut scene’s, voice acting all excellent as usual.

    Con’s:
-Some sections glitchy and not to the same standard as others (as if made by different studios, or rushed) I assume this is down to the reported development issues.
-The stunning set pieces of UC2 have all but gone in UC4 and have been replaced by literally hours of rock climbing.
-Graphics are inconsistent, again as if made by different studios. Some areas/levels look as good as anything I’ve seen, then others (some sections in Scotland etc.) look of a lower standard.

Overall: I didn’t mind the slower pace, I love the Last of Us and at times UC4 played more like this, however the development issues showed in places. The ridiculous amount of climbing/platforming as opposed to the series trademark set pieces was disappointing. Overall I was ready to completely slam this, but they just about won me back with the last few hours and the excellent ending/epilogue.

Good bye Unchartered, I’ll remember the games fondly but as with most series these days – you made one too many.

The 'wide linear' environments are a beautiful addition to the game making you feel like you are on a true pirate adventure. Henry Jackman's music is stunning, fitting perfectly throughout the entire game; especially during the opening credits. I like how they chose to create a new main theme for this game; titled 'A Thief's End' rather than creating Nate's Theme 4.0. This new theme is far superior in my opinion. And I don't even know where to begin with the graphics, the game looks life-like; boosting the best looking graphics of any game I've ever seen. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End offers more than just a game does, and it offers more than a movie does; it offers an experience. It is an experience that far surpasses films and other forms of story telling, which is why I am so passionate about the video game medium. It is a medium that allows you to fully immerse yourself in a story and world. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End does this masterfully. I hope Naughty Dog continues to exel pushing other developers to strive to make better games in the future. Expand

If you watch a lot of action movies, you may be able to guess what is going to happen next. Nothing feels truly unique here (Tomb Raider or Last of us have better stories in my opinion)

Gameplay is uh ... mediocre. Well, I do not want to blame the developers but it is a very mediocre gameplay, like general action games 4 - 5 years ago. You do climbing, shooting, sneaking, and then repeat. This game doesn't even have an upgraded weapon system. No leveling yourself, No any rpg stuffs like Tomb Raiders or Last of us ( Last of us is also naughty dog owners, I don't understand why they degrade gameplay system). This game also should have allowed you to control your teammates like MassEffects since we have to fight in team many times.

I didn't play multiplayer so I have no opinion in that but I heard that it was good.

Music is OK, Voice acting is good. The ending and the epilogue are satisfying and well made. I spent 15 hrs finishing the game.

In sum, Uncharted 4 is good action game especially graphic but gameplay is too old school for 2016 game. I hope action games will get leveraged in gameplay soon. Need something new, That is all

To me, Uncharted 4 is a major disappointment in many ways. First of all, some context is very important for understanding why this game is so different from the previous 3 entries in the series.
It is because Amy Hennig was originally supposed to be the writer/director of the game, but then, in a very dubious turn of events, she left the team, and alot of the work that was done was scrapped, and Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley of "The Last of Us"-fame took over development. It is unknown what exactly happened, but it seems unlikely that she would willingly discard a project she is obviously very invested in. What makes it even more shady, is that there is almost no information to be found on why she left.

It is clear, that we would have gotten a very different game, had she remained at the helm of development. As I already mentioned it is no secret that much of her work was scrapped, when Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley took over. You can go and watch the first teaser trailer (the one that features narration while the camera pans over a map), and you will see that it has nothing to do with the final game.

Alright now let's get to my review of the game we ended up getting: Simply put, it is too much Neil Druckmann, and not enough Amy Hennig. Too much "The Last of Us", and not enough Uncharted. From the bleak titlescreen, to the soundtrack that completely lacks the sense of adventure and excitement the previous games conveyed, everything is just way too drab for an Uncharted game.
But alright, let's look at it for what it claims to be. It doesn't aspire to be as grand and adventurous as the previous games. Instead it attempts to focus more on the characters, especially Nathan Drake himself. There are several problems with that.

*First of all, even as a more character focused experience, the game does not have to be as drab and lifeless as it is. It plainly lacks the energy that the other games have.

*The pacing of the game is absolutely horrendous. I never got bored with the previous Uncharted games, even after several playthroughs. They also had more story focused sequences, particularily Uncharted3 such as playing as kid Nate, or playing Nate as he wanders the desert, looking for water. But these games were made by someone who knew what pacing is. I really don't want to sound too condescending, since I do think "The Last of Us" was an expertly crafted game with great pacing, but what the hell were Neil/Bruce thinking? Uncharted 4 is straight-up boring for about half the freaking playtime. Soo many sequences are extremely tedious on the first playthrough already. And it certainly does not get better on later playthroughs. There are a lot (and I mean a lot) of sequences, that are boring as hell to play and only serve some story related purpose. Again I legitimately enjoyed these parts in the previous games (or the Uncharted trilogy as I like to call it), however here they are unbearably boring. It all harkens back to the atrocious pacing of the game. In previous games you'd have these amazing actionpacked sequences that go on for really long, so by the time the pacing slows down it is very welcome. But in 4 just as you start to get into the flow of things, it stops dead in its tracks and forces you to play some asinine storyfocused bit, where all you do is usually walk around, and also maybe climb a bit if you're lucky. It's bad.

*The shoot-outs are seperated into socalled encounters. Now here's the problem with that: In Uncharted 1-3 enemies would litter the game. There generally aren't many sequences that don't feature enemies. Even as you're just going from A to B, there are usually a couple of enemies in your way. Well say goodbye to that, cause Uncharted 4 wants to make sure you're not having too much fun. So enemies only appear in these kinda big open areas, called encounters. I really don't mind how shootouts play out here, and it's cool that they are a bit less linear, and it allows you to be stealthier than before. But there should also be enemies sprinkled throughout the levels. There are parts where you climb around for really long. and It gets very very boring. fast.

*Last but certainly not least: These are not the characters you've come to love in the trilogy. They are pale imitations at best. It seems like the writers just really don't like Nate. Nate was always a bit full of himself but he was also likable and capable of having a real conversation with his friends. In this game he maintains absolutely nothing except for the "full of himself"-part. Sully and Elena are just extremely bland. The characters you came to love over the last games are not here.

So to summarize, Uncharted 4 is a boring, heartless action adventure game, that should have never been made. It really agitates me to no end, that we never got to see the game that the clearly much more capable (at least in the realm of Uncharted games) Amy Hennig wanted to make, but here we are. Thank you for reading my review :)

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Hi guys I only ever comment on a games flaws.

    1. While in chapter 13 (between water and beach, a clipping issue caused my character to somehow become trapped under beach).

    2. Jumps from ropes are some times a bit fickle or at rather stupid angles.

    3. Crash Bandicoot easter egg was fine but god dam annoying when it's associated with trophy for platinum cause the jumps if off by a very small amount like an inch from the edge you plummet to death and die, was most tedious thing in game which would have scored higher if it wasn't for ascoiating it with a trophy.

    4. The game occasionally Crashes when loading or skipping cut scenes (I was using downloaded from store version not disc) and using 1.05 for the majority of play through.

    5. Voice acting sounded strained in parts, but this may have been intentional for comic purposes.

I did not pay for a crash bandicoot easter egg tied to a trophy I paid for uncharted. It lost two point merely for the annoyance of crash bandicoot and the super long animation it takes to see stuff in the epilogue.

This game is closest to Uncharted 1 and that game sucked straight butt. I've played them all and Uncharted 2 & 3 are the best ones in the series.
I just want another The Last of Us. IMO that's where Naughty Dogs bread and butter is. Uncharted was never that amazing. Sony fans blew this series up like the 2nd coming of Christ when its not. I wouldn't hesitate once to take a new God of War game over any Uncharted game any day. Now that's a series Sony has that MS nor Nintendo can or will ever touch.

And one thing I wish I was told before going down this path is to not do the first play-through on Crushing. It is not as rewarding to beat the game on the hardest possible difficulty on the first try as it is in other games. The reason for that is because there is one key elements that is removed in Crushing that is available otherwise. That feature is the stealth mode. In Crushing, stealth mode is almost useless many of the times. U4 makes stealth a bigger part of the core gameplay in comparison to previous tittles. You are still able to stealth through certain levels and be able to maybe kill a few guards before essentially being forced to go commando, but the ability for guards to notice you in Crushing is significantly easier and there is no detection meter nor marking capabilities. If you really care to stealth 100% of the time then you may, but it will take a lot of practice without the two features mentioned prior. Not only is it excrutiating to stealth on Crushing, but there is no real reward for doing so. The game does not even encourage stealth gameplay like others do. For example, you will never find a silenced weapon and there is no penalty for going guns blazing shortly after the encounter started Please heed my advice and enjoy the game on another difficulty before Crushing on your first play-through. The game is absolutely beautiful and the story is amazing. I just wished I didn't play it on Crushing the first time so I could enjoy the game more. Expand

One of the worst uncharted games in the series. The gameplay is non existent, jumping from one edge to another gives no challenge what so ever. The gun fights are rare and only get exciting till the end of the game. There is a lot of filler, where you just walk around.

On the good side, the graphics are great! There is alittle of an open world element when you drive the jeep around.

The swan song that the franchise deserves, Uncharted 4 wraps up Nathan's story as well as answers questions that long time fans have been asking over the years. A bitter-sweet end to one of my favorite action adventure games, but one that left me satisfied with an ending that I'm grateful for.

In Uncharted 4 we find an aging Nathan who has retired from his treasure hunting day job along with now wife: Elaina Fisher. Since the events from Uncharted 3, the two have given up on the danger and adventure for a life of legitimacy. It quickly becomes clear that Nate's "adventures" working in salvage can't quite replace uncovering the riches of the world's most legendary treasures. So when Nate's brother Sam shows up after being presumably dead for the last 15 years, and explains that he can only regain his freedom with the treasure of 17th century pirate, Henry Avery, the two set out for one final adventure.

The attention to detail and mastery of lighting here is ridiculous
Everything in this game is in real time.
Uncharted 4 is a masterpiece in that it's currently the best looking game I have seen on the Playstation 4 thus far. Much like my initial reaction to Naughty Dog's The Last of Us from a few years back, Uncharted 4 is now the game to beat in terms of graphic fidelity on the Playstation 4. From its minute details in vegetation; the effect that wind and water have on hair-and-clothing; to the pores on Nate's face, the attention to detail in this game is phenomenal. As expected, there are still plenty of set pieces to show off here with dynamic backdrops, living environments, and elaborate level designs. With a cast of cautious and matured characters, the game is grounded in a more realistic aesthetic. This shifts the game to a more serious tone rather than the lighthearted feel of the series's first three games. With a more serious approach, I felt it easier to empathize with Nate and the predicament he finds himself in. Nate is at a crossroads, and must make some very difficult choices concerning his life and the people he cares about.

Variety seems to be the theme among Uncharted 4's mechanics. You are encouraged to switch between play styles in not only combat but while making your way through the chapter as well. For many players in previous installments, melee combat became mashing square to attack followed by mashing triangle to counter-attack. Rinse and repeat to clear virtually any area of enemies (difficulty willing of course) creating a stagnant experience. Instead, you are told to roll out of attacks DarkSouls style, mashing triangle only when grabbed. This change alone opens up combat for a more varied play-style, encouraging quick changes between melee attacks, gunfire, and now more opportunity for stealth maneuvers. New items are introduced to Nate's arsenal as well, adding depth and variety not only to combat, but to traversal. Combined with seamless transitions between animations, the result is fluid and fast paced gameplay with your choice of how to approach your target.

With the addition of the grappling hook and the piton, or pick, comes new ways to get around through the game's many environments. This often results in multiple routes to the end goal depending on your play-style. These items also add a new layer of depth to the game's puzzles and trials. Stealth is now a valid option for clearing large portions of chapters if you choose. Nate has no problem sneaking around or diving behind crates and walls to quietly take out foes with refined controls reminiscent from The Last of Us. Your partner's AI capability is also carried over here aiding you in combat, they will even take out a foe or two quietly if it means they are close to blowing your cover. To further aid in stealth, tall patches of grass were added, allowing Nate to keep low and quickly sneak past groups of enemies unseen. This doesn't slow Nate down or break the pace of combat as much as you may think as this mechanic was clearly designed with Nate's speed and agility in mind.

    What would Drake say?
What would Drake say in this situation?
Despite its deserved praise, unfortunately no game is without flaws. A feature that I was looking forward to was the idea of player choice within dialogue. The feature is used four times: three times in the beginning of the game; with the fourth within an optional conversation and then seemingly abandoned with no difference in outcome, story, or gameplay. The addition of player choice or even multiple endings would have been a nice break from the familiar linear progression we are used to in the Uncharted franchise. Without

Many will find the game slow to start and cut scene heavy until gameplay picks up around the second act. This isn't necessarily a bad thing depending on what kind of gamer you are. Those that are playing for U

Reading the negatives, I get what they are saying, but as an Uncharted fan who doesn't do multiplayer, I loved it. It was Uncharted through and through, and you'd better like the series if you want to enjoy this entry. It was a very satisfying close to Nathan Drake's career. I've replayed the other's three times each over the years, and I'll replay this one as well.

Like most who have played a thief's end, I am a huge fan of the uncharted games and would rank 2 and 3 highly in my favourites of all time. I loves their tone, their pacing, the character writing and most of all they were enormous fun to play. You know it is a 'classic' gaming moment when you are mid way through a sequence and cant wait to play it again - that happened several times in Uncharted 2 and 3. It didn't happen once in 4.

It is so difficult to raise the bar on the previous games, and expectation was certainly very high going into this game - the reviews had been superb across the board and I couldn't wait to step back into Nate's shoes and go treasure hunting all over again, but a strength of the previous games is certainly a weakness of a Thief's end - the pacing. The game starts too slowly and instead of building to a crescendo it just dawdled along forcing one climbing part after another, to the point where I found myself wishing for the level to be over with -something I can say never happened in 2 or 3. The first 3rd of the game suffers this way and by the time the adrenaline starts pumping in the middle section its almost too late. And then as we move towards the conclusion of the story, again it slows to a crawl forcing you to climb/stealth in areas you feel you've been in multiple times before, ending on a flat note with a pointless epilogue.

That being said, credit must go to the presentation in this game. The graphics and effects are the best I have ever seen in any game IMO. The voice acting and writing is once again very solid, but I found some of the characters outside of the returning group to be very generic and bland.

The level layout is a curious decision, now incorporating a sandbox feel encouraging exploration, but with every key encounter a 'tower/base/ruin/cliff' that is guarded that you must walk around stealthily taking down the enemies. Opening fire felt like a punishment in this game and I was soon bored of repeating the same routines to avoid being killed by overly aggressive/questionable AI opponents.

Writing this review has made me want to go back and play uncharted 2 and 3 again, to experience being chased by the helicopter (on foot and on the train) explore the dockyard and sinking cruise liner and jump from jeep to jeep channelling my inner-Indiana jones. Uncharted 4? It doesn't have any stand out moments like that and for me that's a disappointment. Great graphics or not.

I just didn't enjoy it as much as the other games in the series. One of the things that made the Uncharted series great was that it took games closer to the movies then ever before. It raised the bar for cut scenes, writing, cinematic set pieces ect. They managed to tell great stories and they looked like fantastic action movies but they never forgot they were games because the balance between game and movie was perfect. In U4 however I feel ND have gone too far trying to make it like a movie and the pacing feels too slow. Far too much time is spent where you just slowly walk/drive about doing banal things such as pressing triangle to look at stuff or pushing a crate against a wall. Sure, the previous games had sections like this too but because there were less of them they weren't as boring, they were actually a nice change of pace and they complimented the action better and I stress again they managed to tell great stories without overkill of these slow sections.

I also didn't feel there were as many OMG set pieces in U4 although there were a couple of good ones.

The story was good but the tone seemed a bit confused. In the first half it teases the player with the promise of a darker, deeper story and more fleshed out characters then before but never fully goes through with it. It can't seem to decide if it want's to go down this route or stick with the trademark Uncharted death defying one liners and witty banter.

Many of the action sections, especially early on lacked excitement and tension because of the OTT handholding and overgenerous restart points. Then the game will throw a big difficulty spike at you. It seems to go from one extreme to the other. Lastly, it all just felt strangely predictable and formulaic. I just seemed to know when a gun fight was coming, when a bridge was going to collapse, what plot twist was coming etc.

I must stress again it is a good game; Excellent graphics and script, gameplay pretty polished (if not perfect). I enjoyed U4 but there was still a feeling of being underwhelmed by the whole thing; I never had the heart racing excitement or jaw dropping spectacle I had from the earlier games. Maybe after 4 games I've just got Uncharted fatigue - what once was fresh and exciting is now a bit trite and predictable to me.

The graphics are best in class (as in, there is currently no other game reaching this level of detail and beauty), the score was beautiful, the story and dialogue was written and acted out in a cogent and non-corny manner, very cinematesque.

One of the most amazing things about the game is something you realize when you start a chapter after you are done with the game - a level needs about a minute to load, they are *huge*. While you are playing through the game, you will never realize this, because Naughty Dog managed to integrate resource loading with the story so well that the game flows at a natural pace and never pauses for loading. This sounds like "uh, so what" but is an enormous technical accomplishment.

The other thing I really appreciated was that the storyline this time felt (just like the graphics! ;)) more realistic than ever. Options may diverge on this, maybe you are the type to miss magical mumbo jumbo, I thought the game was better without it.

On a side-note, I cannot wait for ND to publish more games based on this engine, they are sitting on a gold mine.

Why do I say that? It feels phoned in, it feels like a game where the Last of Us creative team took over halfway through development. Because this game goes for long stretches where it is just completely boring. One level should have been called Nathan and Elena take a leisurely drive. If it wasn't for the opening sequence the first hour of the game wouldn't have had any action at all, unless you consider playing the original Crash Bandicoot exciting.

Don't get me started on the last boss battle, it is easily one of the worst boss battles ever created for a AAA game. The controls for it were bad, and it was just terrible mess to play. Let's also not forget the couple of times where you are forced to push the buttons in a fight where you aren't allowed to win, something I absolutely hate when it happens in a game. If I don't have any control over events, don't pretend like I do and just create a cut scene.

The reason why I gave this a 7 instead of a 5 or less is because you can get enjoyment out of this game. Because when the game is good, it is good, the problem is those moment feel to few and far between. It is a terribly paced game where to much of nothing happens.

The gameplay was ALWAYS intense (RECOMMEND PLAYING THIS ON HARD). For example there was a mission where you have to fight off multiple enemies and a tank like car with very few ammo as your walls of protection slowly vanish. The multiplayer is also incredible, had so much fun playing this game with friends. 10/10 best game ever.! Expand

I played all 3 games and I felt let down by this one. It seemed like it was mostly very similar climbing, over and over and over, interspersed with some cut scenes. Not a bad game, but not very good either.

Seemed to be missing the major action/fighting bust-ups of the previous games.

Was excited to finish just to move on to something more interesting and engrossing.

Its brand smacking new engine really is fantastic and makes all other Uncharted games look bad. It has incredible and vibrant colors and backgrounds that makes it just that better. It has very like-able characters and the introduction of Sam, Nate's brother, is good and makes the character as if he was a main character all along. The villains and enemies are scary most times. Uncharted 4's campaign is truly the most strong and engaging of all the games and makes it feel like a real movie, but it puts you in the middle of it. After you are finished with it's breathtaking campaign, you can dive into the fun online multiplayer that is just as fun and engaging. Some tiny flaws I found were server crashes at launch, but it seems they have cleaned that all up.Naughty Dog really hit it out of the park and crashing through a car window on this one. I will be selling my copy on now that I've completed it, but it's well worth the ride- basically it's another really well-made 15 hour movie you play through. What I was really expecting though was someone to die, since it was going that way, regrets, old frienemies, etc. Either of the four would be acceptable by me but the epilogue was amazing.

Another thing I wanted was at the scene were Sam finds Nathan again and they talk on that bench, I wouldn't mind listening all the stories of the three previous games narrated by Nathan. I was disappointed

The same thing happened at the epilogue. I really wanted to hear Nathan explaining all that crazy **** the crew got into and came out alive.

The story of Nathan Drake comes to an end, after several years, he is dragged by his older brother Sam, back into the action.

    Graphics and Gameplay:

The game looks very good, with a 1080p resolution on 30 fps in Single Player and 900p with 60fps for multiplayer, as for graphics, the graphic engine that Naughty Dog uses for his Uncharted franchise has always been very good, and here we can see it at maximum power. The lighting effects had improved a lot since The Last Of Us, the shadows are great and the visuals stunning.
For the gameplay part, the game takes the classic Uncharted alpinism to a hole new level, Drake moves very accuracy to the environment and he has the Hook, wich is very usefull in combat and exploring. The shootouts are better than never, being covered with pieces of the game's soundtrack, for a real Heroic feeling. The AI in this game is the best so far in the saga, the enemies now can spot you and every one will know where you are, but you can scape and hide, so you can take them quietly if you want too. The stealth in the story work very decent and it's better than the glitchy one in The Last of Us and previous Uncharted's.
-(Negatives of the gameplay)-..There are some issues with the cover, some times when your press O to take cover, Drake stands next to the wall and he won't cover, leading to a death in the worst case scenarios...

    Story:

Moving on to the Story, it is a 16-20 hour game, you may see after you finished it that is really short, but the maps and exploration makes it a very long and great journey. The characters the we know since Uncharted Drake's Fortune, are back, and with a really depth feeling. the new ones such as Sam and the new Villains, Rafe and Nadine, makes certain parts of the story want to really watch them on scene.
The ending may not be good for a mayority of Uncharted fans, but for other it will be the right way to end this franchise with Nathan Drake.

    Multiplayer:
As for this extra, the game, like its predecessors (U2 and U3), has a fun multiplayer, that will keep you going for hours playing with your friends, the online is schedule to have several updates that will include more game modes, extra content, and more, so you can have a lots of fun.

    Verdict:

My favourite thing about this games is that they are very simple and fun. The gameplay now is perfect than ever, all of this combined with this great story and ending to the series, make it one of the best games out for PS4, and a really essential for your game collection.

Uncharted 4 is one of the best video games I've ever played. When I think of my all-time favorites - Red Dead Redemption, Fallout New Vegas, Resident Evil 4 - Uncharted 4 is every bit as awesome as those games. This is the first game I've played on the PS4 that has truly wow'ed me.

The graphics are INSANE. A good deal better than any other game I've played. Essentially photo-realistic.

The graphics are INSANE. A good deal better than any other game I've played. Essentially photo-realistic. This game is beautiful. It's so beautiful that it's hard to go back to a game like Fallout 4 and take it seriously (yes, I realize FO4 is open-world, but it looks like a 2012 title in comparison). Uncharted 4 is a work of art. The draw distance and scope of the environments are second to none, and the attention to detail is mind-blowing.

The gameplay is a solid blend of climbing, exploring, and shooting. The shooting feels good for a 3rd person shooter, and the added stealth component is a lot of fun. The combination of climbing and shooting (e.g. swinging across a chasm while firing an Uzi or dropping from a ledge into the tall grass to perform a stealth kill) is where the game really shines. If it had TLOU-esque gore, the shooting would be that much more satisfying, but I understand they wanted to keep it Teen.

Combine the graphics and gameplay with an above-average story and fully-wrought characters and you have one of the best games of all time. In terms of sheer technical prowess, it may be THE best game of all time. It's laughable that this has a 7.8 user score. Don't listen to the trolls, nitpickers, and Xbox fanboys. This is incredible.

I have been waiting for this game for such a long time, as I am a huge Uncharted fan. I was worried that after all that time it might be a disappointment, rest assured it most definitely does not disappoint! I will say this it isn't as game changing as Uncharted 2: among thieves was at that games time of release, but it is definitely the best Uncharted game in the series.

Let's talk graphics first: You have probably heard countless times about this games graphics, but I will say it has by far the best graphics I have ever seen full stop. The textures, the environments, the character models and pretty much everything else is jaw droppingly beautiful! Easily the best graphics I have ever seen full stop.

The gameplay is seamless and enjoyable. It never gets boring. There is a perfect blend between shootouts, explosive set pieces and exploration. As for the latter this game demands exploration far more than any of the other games ever did, the environments are so open that you just want to explore and revel in the sheer beauty of it all. Not to mention to try and find the many scattered treasures and also find optional conversations (like in the last of us) and journal notes and entries.

I will be honest there are not as many set pieces as in the previous two games, but if I am being honest that is actually and surprisingly a good thing. When I first heard that there wasn't as many set pieces as in the previous games I was disappointed, but the story and gameplay and exploration is what makes this game so great. However the set pieces which there are still plenty of are better than in the other games, they feel more seamless and unexpected than the previous games and makes you grin when you play through them. Also the car chase in Madagascar you saw in E3 is flipping spectacular to play yourself it will blow you through the rooftops.

The story is also fantastic, you deeply care for all of the characters, the same can be said for all Uncharted games, but this ones make the characters especially Nathan Drake feel much more human. There are twists and turns and one especially that I never saw coming. I haven't completed the game yet, I am on level 20 of 22 so I am close enough that I can review the game properly, but I can't say how good (or bad) the ending is as I haven't quite experienced it yet.

Finally the online multiplayer is also great fun and very well balanced. It envelops the feel of the single player campaign perfectly and is great team based fun. The only things that I am disappointed with is that there is no ranking points at all and there are no where near as many game modes as in Uncharted 3. There is no free for all, three team deathmatch, survivor mode. So for me that was very disappointing but what is there is phenomenal and will keep you entertained for hours.

Also there is one easter egg at the very beginning of the game (Don't worry I will not spoil what it is) that if you are a long time Playstation or Naughty dog fan it will literally make your jaw drop to the floor in absolute delight and nostalgia. It also cannot be missed!

Game of the generation by far!

But this game does so well to alleviate the others "short comings". The story is so well paced, memorable, and for the first time I was really like really invested in the characters of the uncharted games. The game play was a hell of a lot more dynamic than just finding a wall to crouch behind or at least being behind a wall wasn't the only way to survive. And the action pieces, jesus christ I was so glad I didn't watch any trailers, they were so well done and heart pounding. However, it's not like the game had negatives, there was almost to much climbing, although I also liked those sections too, and some moments dragged a tad too long... well thats about it for me. Even the multiplayer is pretty fun. I'm gushing over this game because I should be, it's literally hands down the best looking game I've ever seen, has an awesome story, fun gameplay, and is a great send off for Nathan Drake. Graphics, Multiplayer and Ending are great, but gameplay is mostly boring and repetitive as hell (Rock Climber Simulator). The Story is nothing special.

Uncharted 4, in the words of Bruce Straley, is indeed "the most visually stunning game ever created". The environments themselves tell a story unlike the previous titles, with a sense of history and uncertainty that only the last of us can really match. The heavier narrative is perfectly justified by the game's premise, with a more subdued and nuanced approach to gameplay and pacing. Some players may feel disappointed by the lack of over the top set-piece moments, that were present in previous games, and the absence of certain characters. However, again, this is all perfectly justified by the approach Naughty Dog has taken with Uncharted 4. Upon completion of the game, the player is simply marveled by the depth and care that was taken in this final chapter. Expand

Just finished this game yesterday and it's nothing less than a masterpiece 10/10 ,no matter how many of these PS4 haters under score it. I've been gaming for almost 12 years and in my opinion this game is up there with the best ones ever made. The story is incredible ,the graphics are jaw dropping and the gameplay is well thought out ,though sometimes the gun fights can drag a bit too long but at the end there was something rewarding to see or discover so I kept wanting to play more and more ,it's just that good. The multiplayer is really fun ,even though I have only played a couple of hours ,but so far it has been a ton of fun to play. So in short I'd say ,this game is worth every penny ,if not more , and if you attack this game for no reason ,then you don't deserve to be called a gamer but just another stupid internet hater. I think this is my favorite in the series. the second game was a tighter package and slightly larger set pieces but the writing, story, and characters are better than they have ever been in uncharted 4. the set pieces and action sequences are amazing and maybe aren't as large in scale as other ones, but there is a lot more going on in these sequences and are more exciting than previousI think this is my favorite in the series. the second game was a tighter package and slightly larger set pieces but the writing, story, and characters are better than they have ever been in uncharted 4. the set pieces and action sequences are amazing and maybe aren't as large in scale as other ones, but there is a lot more going on in these sequences and are more exciting than previous ones, thats something I didn't think was going to be achievable. these sequences were so good that during these moments I just had the hugest smile on my face. the developers added enough to keep the gameplay from getting old, a problem that I felt was present in the 3rd game. the addition of the grappling hook was awesome, nothing made me feel more badass than using it to dive bomb an enemy undetected. speaking about being undetected the option to go stealth and not attack if you wanted to was a great addition, even though it was fairly simple mechanics. Even little things like being able to double team a bad guy with the other characters when beating them down was awesome and the little side conversations you could have or not have like in the last of us were things I really appreciated and added to the emersion. despite all this, the biggest thing this game does right is the story, it is extremely emotionally investing, and I appreciate that they do this without being gloomy like so many other titles. there are so many games that try to provoke emotion by being dark and depressing that its refreshing to have a story that's actually very light hearted in tone but still hits you in the heart. not to say that aren't sad moments, this game focuses strongly on betrayal, obsession, and letting go but it still manages to keep you laughing and smiling most of the way through. I was never bored for a second, but I can see the replay value not being that strong in the first couple chapters. best villian yet in the series in my opinion because not only was the villain a complete scum bag you could also understand why he does the things he does and even empathize with him, infact hes not to different from nathan drake, they happen to have alot in common. I cant talk to much more about the gaem without going into spoiler territory so ill just say that this is easily game of the year for me so far with dark souls 3 alomost on par. the perfect uncharted game Expand

Stating that the forthcoming game will be the last rendezvous with a popular, charismatic hero is a rare phenomenon. I congratulate Naughty Dog on their courage and in spite of myself keep my fingers crossed for them to stick to their decision. The farewell party they threw for Nate is simply spectacular. This is how I want to remember him, not as an old man who rubbed his joints with pain cream and then found a UFO. Uncharted 4 is a brilliant game and a breathtaking demonstration of what PS4 is capable of. [07/2016, p.56]
