A really fun game. The coop mechanics let you continue to play and enjoy it long after you've beaten it. I like that it's all about people: no monsters, etc.

The division tells the story about a smallpox pandemic that wreaks havoc on black Friday…
You’re part of the division, sent in by the US government to assist emergency responders and restore order.
The game starts in Brooklyn but opens up when you enter Manhattan…
This game is online only and is absolutely brutal…
Probably one of the hardest if not hardest third person shooter I’ve ever played…
If you’re playing by yourself… you’re not making it to the end unless you’re a 360 no scope mlg pro..
I am not... so I teamed up with a squad the entire way….
But this isn’t your typical 3rd person shooter…
    There are no head shots...
Enemies have hp rather than just being vulnerable humans... they’re armored up and bullet spongy…
I didn’t realize the type of game this was at first so I felt frustrated, only to remind myself borderlands is the same way…
So this is more or less a 3rd person borderlands with none of the color or humor…
My Love for the Division slowly grew on me… and I did eventually fall in love…
But halfway through the game, my love evaporated.
In the division you can explore the city of Manhattan either alone or with a crew of up to 4 players, there are 19 main story missions in this game that increasingly have a higher level requirement…
Each mission will give you roughly 1 level.. And you also gain xp from killing enemies, doing side missions, discovering new locations and finding collectibles…
And at first this feels great...
You’ll run down the street and run into an encounter and help whoever out and move on to the mission you were heading too…
You gain your first 5 levels without even trying…
Then you’re doing mission after mission... killing these insanely tough enemies… picking up their dropped weapons, finding loot and armor..
Getting supplies to work on the different wings of your base to unlock new skills and abilities...
Assigning these abilities to your 2 and eventually 3 ability slots…
It’s so frustrating and so addictive at the same time…
Coming up with strategies with your teams mates during tough sections..
    Providing health, cover, and distraction…
This is why it’s important to play with others…
On your own you can’t be revived… enemies do take less damage... but it isn’t worth being sent back to a checkpoint each time you die to an area of respawned enemies…
You’re heading into the dark zone to look for contaminated but more powerful loot, killing other players to increase your dark zone level to leave with better gear
And you’re halfway through the game..
You’re level 13... The next missions enemies are level 16 no big deal…
You’ve got your awesome crew... you can handle anything.
    Nope.
You can’t play missions more than 2 levels ahead of you… and by the way... from the halfway point forward... every single mission is going to be 3 levels ahead of you
No big deal, levels have been handing out levels…
Surely side missions and encounters and collectibles will do the same.
    They don’t.
XP is so insanely slow in this game and I’m convinced there’s only a leveling system here to slow the player down... to make them do the boring side stuff instead of shoot their way through these hour long main missions….
There’s really nothing else to explain it…
It isn’t to make you more powerful in battle…
Fights are just as hard from the start as they are at the end... Enemies level with you…. And most of the time unless you grind with the boring stuff are even 2 plus levels ahead
And it isn’t to unlock perks or new weapons... because you get all of this from enemies and completing main stories…
You can replay mast missions on hard mode for better loot.. but it rewards to xp at the end which is complete nonsense…
Level requirements for main missions kill pacing…
and the laughably small amount of xp you get for killing enemies which by the way is the exact same you get for killing a boss is even more of a joke.
There’s not a chance you’ll level up mid story mission…
It’s not happening you’re gonna be just as weak in the final boss battle as you were going in…
The combat here is extremely fun though and offers a great deal of variety in its perks, weapons, and mods to make your character feel like yours…
I’m not sure why they smack you with a wall halfway through and force you to do the fetch quest nonsense around Manhattan
The division takes some time to grow on you.. And once it finally does it turns into an unfun forced grind. I Give the Division an 8.0/10

Ok, the game launched smoothly and is actually fun. A lot of fun.
Being an rpg fan for years this game delivers on the loot aspect, delivers on the atmosphere which is pretty amazing, character creation was a little poor i have to say but the clothing customization options are near endless which compensates.
Darkzone is a game on its own. It's a very unique concept farming a good route

Darkzone is a game on its own. It's a very unique concept farming a good route full of bosses, extracting and being cautious and suspicious of other players keeps you alerted all the time. It can get better ofc but it feels interesting and i find my self coming back for it. The extracted space in the base stash could be bigger though but i think it will be patched sooner or later.
Overall i didn't expect that this game will hold me in the end game and although it's early (second week after launch) the content and depth are there. Give it a try it's a good game.

    Fun game, huge map!

Some bugs that may be fixed by now. Only major complain not enough penalties for mid-mission drop out or good replacement matchmaking. If you're playing with a random and they leave, it's tough to finish the mission. Overall good time though.

If that's not your cup of tea then don't buy if you enjoy that type of game then you will be spending many, many happy hours playing it. I am and that's why I give it a 10. But really, it's the little things that make Division great. How surfaces react when hit by a bullet. How lighting changes in the day/night cycle. How weather conditions have a REAL impact on the gameplay. How an enemy getting hit in the nose with the butt of your gun reacts. These are the things that are simply missing from other titles like Destiny.

There is a certain element of grinding after hitting level 30. Dark Zone is the most innovative PVP arena to date, but in order to excel, you really, truly, have to grind. RNG and frankly, non-intuitive weapon perks make this process frustrating at times, where a high end weapon can be either "just ok" or "absolute beast" depending on the roll of dice.

On the other hand, that's what makes you go back to killing bosses time and time again.

If these reviews would include the community, I would have to deduct a point. There are some real **** playing this game: particularly, kicking people from the party in Challenging missions right after killing the boss. If these COD-kids would leave the grieving to the Dark Zone, this game would be top-notch enjoyment.

This game is not a Destiny killer. This game is not a Destiny replacement. Comparisons to Destiny are pointless. You can spend all day wind bagging, but apples are apples and oranges are oranges.

This game is also terribly misunderstood. This game is not a MMORPG. It is an RPG and there are MMO aspects, but this game is really a VERY strong story driven single player game with co-op aspects. If you think of the Dark Zone more like Uncharted's multiplayer (a feature not the game/story) then you will enjoy this game immensely.

This game is first and foremost a Tom Clancy game. What that means is there is a lot of story! There is the Agent Origin's video on Amazon (almost 30 minutes long). There is the companion book (part of it is in game, but the book drives home the atmosphere and feeling). There is also all the echos, phone messages, incident reports, crashed drones, etc. in game. Some may see that as a collectible grind, but unlike other Ubi IP these collectibles enhance and tell more of the story.

It is utterly mind boggling that people are already at the end game and complaining and they have no idea what most of the story is. People 5x more powerful than I currently am have no idea what is going on. They are just running around and shooting. To each his own I guess.

Now that the groundwork is out of the way onto the technical review.

10/10 graphics - The game is pretty. Slightly reminiscent of Watch Dogs, but very pretty. It may not be pushing the envelope, but the level of detail and weather is great.
8/10 Control - Since this is a cover driven game the controls can be a bit dicey. You character can get stuck on stuff and evasive maneuvers can be a little rough. More than once I meant to roll out of cover to dodge a grenade and I ended up stuck to cover or rolling closer to the grenade. Nothing that can be patch fixed though.
9/10 story - A damn fine story. Not quite Witcher level, but it has tons of meat.
8/10 audio - The soundtrack is nice and it isn't playing all the time. Mostly just gunshots.

My biggest complaint with this game is that though it is an RPG the whole loot mechanism is a bit off. At times I think it would be easier to just scrap the loot and just spend even more focus on the story rather than getting a epic gun.

Lastly, the quests can be a bit repetitive even if the characters are different. A bit more voice over on the encounters instead of recycling the same sound track as well as more variety on the side missions. Each area has four side missions and they are basically supply/mercy drop, hunt down a baddie, etc. A little more thought would have been nice.

I cannot wait for incursions and to see what else the season pass will bring. Certianly worth the money IMHO. My only other request is that it has an end or at least this chapter closes. MMOs are not so great and the story starts to flop.

This video game is great - guns - loot - shoot outs - pvp - pve - co-op - large world.

The enemies have HP pools and you cant head shot kill everything but i like that.
people who give this a bad review are just too hard to please and want video games to be more realistic then real life.

When I first booted up The Division I was concerned that it'd end up a bog standard RPG, where I'd be spending my time going from marker to marker for each mission, which consists solely of killing waves of enemies. I was also worried that the (very well put together) story I was introduced to at the beginning of the game would only be referenced to a few times later on. Luckily, this was not the case. After a few missions at the beginning of the game (which serves as a tutorial) the story was turned on it's head and the atmosphere took a more bleak path. At this point I knew I made a good choice when purchasing this game. The Division is in no way a flawless game or Game of the Year material, but it's a well thought experience and I'm having a blast playing it. Does it do what an MMORPG should do? Yes. Is it fun? Yes. Will I continue to play after the end game credits role? Yes. One thing I look for in games, which I'm sure most people do, is immersion. I feel completely immersed in this game and I love the amount of attention to detail I see whilst roaming the streets of NYC. I'll see a rat and a bird fighting, people trying to get into and steal from cars, people shouting out of their apartment windows, unfortunate civilians dying and much, much more. Another thing I'd like to draw attention to is the soundtrack. I LOVE the soundtrack to this game. It's very reminiscent of "Drive", "Heat" and "Only God Forgives", and fits the game perfectly. I don't feel this game deserves the scores south of 7/10 and I also think the game may be getting these bad scores due to it being an Ubisoft game, who are famous for Watch_Dogs and the multiple disappointing Assassins Creed games. I picked this game up for just ÂŁ50 (limited edition version) and Battlefront cost me ÂŁ60 on release. So for ÂŁ10 less I've got a AAA game with more content. If you're a fan of RPGS, shooters and dare I say it, Destiny, then this is the game for you. Expand

Great game, and you will find that the later reviews are more positive as well. I was skeptical but I definitely do not regret getting it. Graphics are great, and while there is a variety problem in terms of life missions, this will most likely be fixed with the free content update. As it is now though, this game has a TON of content and things to do, unlike most games these days.

There are a few places that need improvement though: comparing weapons should also include DPS without any attached mods - comparing currently equipped, modded weapon with a newly found un-modded one is meaningless. There are a few technical glitches - I got stuck in a corner behind a door, had to fast-travel to get out the trap ;), and sometimes in single player I hear (for fractions of a second) what seems to be voices of other players.

Roughly having around 100+ hours into this game I can simply say that I can't put the controller down. I have had my fair share from grinding my levels, to the pure satisfaction of the end game this game has. I've loved every second of it and still just think about how there are three expansions still to come to this game. In the beginning of the game you will find yourself sent out to the streets of New York to rain justice, you will be playing from main story missions, to side missions, and doing many encounters which will help you upgrade your base. From the missions and encounters I honestly have seen so much more of a RPG aspect to this game which I really didn't expect. I actually catch myself getting pulled into the story, with many different feelings and just wanting to deliver one thing... Justice. The combat I find very appealing, I love the challenge. While playing the game you learn a lot more about the combat and how to improve. The gear is ever evolving, doesn't matter beginning or end game, you will always find yourself upgrading your character. Some might say "of course you will its a loot based shooter." and that I agree with, it is a loot based shooter but one that I find did it right. I've been a fan of Destiny for a while now and the same with that, its a loot based shooter but it doesn't give you the initiative to upgrade your character because you will find yourself grinding for hours just to get a engram, that "might" upgrade your character. In The Division this aspect is developed very well and throws tons of loot at you, some not upgrading your stats but others can greatly. Don't get me wrong, there is still a lot of grinding to do for end game from farming phoenix credits, or superior and High-End gear. I find the combat promising, from moving to cover to cover to stay safe and not just being able to rush in without a punishment. Only the Division agents who learn to adapt to their environment and the type of play style will be rewarded with some of the best gear when it comes down to challenging mode. I love the challenge, it's not necessarily "easy" but it does have a skill gap to learn before diving into all the game has to offer. One of my favorite parts about the game is undoubtedly the Dark Zone. This is one of the best features of this game, I love the idea of collecting gear and having to extract it while knowing you could be hunted down by a rogue agent the next second. It keeps you on your toes especially with the rewards, from superior, to getting High-End drops. I do think the game has flaws though, but not major ones. They need to add better rewards for going rogue so more people do it instead of one person being rogue and everyone hunting them down. The game also has multiple minor bugs with visual stat problems, from seeing one number change to another (thankfully doesn't affect the actual stats) which can be very frustrating at times but really not that big of a problem. I've seen my friends glitch through the map and get stuck underground but not very often. While looking at a lot of the reviews on this website I do want to say that this game surely doesn't deserve a "0" or anything lower than a 8. These people don't play the game until end game or they just don't know how to specify a game as a considerably good game. While I understand people have their own opinions at least tell us why you think its bad in detail instead of just giving it a beyond low score that isn't realistic. With expansions, loot trading, raids, and much more soon to come I can easily see this game as one of the better titles for this year without a doubt. If you'd like to add me on PSN to join me in the depths of the Dark Zone on the search for High-Ends or farming dailies, feel free, like your division agent. PSN: SoticRaVaGe.

A review of Tom Clancy's: The Division on PS4

The majority of the game takes place in New York City's Borough of Manhattan “In the midst of a smallpox like pandemic that the public dubs the “Green Poison”. The Virus has left the cities first response service organizations in ruin. The Government of the United States has no other Choice but to activate sleeper agents within the city know as THE DIVISION to assist with what is left of the emergency response teams know collectively as the Joint Task Force or JTF to help rebuild and maintain order within the now quarantined districts of Manhattan. Your mission as a division agent is to take back the city at all cost. Not only do the members of The Division and JTF have to fight the spreading Epidemic but several gangs have risen from the ashes of what is left. Rioters… Rikers … and Cleaners are all fighting for Rule and Power over the new free territory.

    Sights and Sound

The Voice acting and music come second to the sounds of combat and constant firefights in the distance. The sounds of explosions and bullet hail are the real sound track to this game. With a full armory of weaponry ranging from booming close quarter shotguns to long range sniper rifles that rip the air all have their own unique sounds. Many of the weapons can be modified with muzzle attachments to give a weapon a new voice but still one of its own. Any music that can be heard after completing a hard fought mission was for me drowned out by the escaping sounds of war leaving my ears and in its place a strange calm that quickly becomes forgotten and feels foreign upon the fire of the first shots of engagement.
Visually the City's architecture remains intact for the most part but the streets are littered with vehicles and check points torn apart and left abandoned, wandering vagrants which once made up the working class along with an equal number of animals scavenging and fighting their own battles to stay alive now populate the streets. The city can be navigated using a convenient and easy to read in game map and way point system. A nice feature to see was that every street still had its own name and on the corner its respective street sign. A really nice touch for those who notice small details. In the same respect for detail The environment of the Division is constantly changing with its regular day and night cycles but having token place approaching Christmas time harsh you will notice winter weather conditions. In a moments noticed clear sky’s can become overcast and cloudy then change to a light flurry and even pick up to blizzard storm conditions impairing visibility and making the navigation process a little bit harder.

Game play Elements – Shooter/ RPG / MMO

The Division is a mash up of different Genres. Third person Shooter, Single player RPG, and MMO style RPG. The game try’s to take the best aspects of each while leaving the bad behind to create its own unique game play style. In terms of being a shooter. It does well establishing a proficient cover to cover system as well as manual cover and maneuver while aiming over the shoulder. Although Manually staying in cover becomes tricky as there is no crouch or prone positions, the cover to cover system becomes more efficient in most cases to use. A nice feature for me, being a fan of third person aspect games, was the ability to aim over Either shoulder, moving the camera to my other shoulder when I wanted to peer around a corner or doorway opposite the default. Surprisingly many third person games forget to add that option. The gun play is excellent and hit boxes respond well. Every gun has its own recoil pattern and rise that can be master and duplicated through keen observation and slight movements of the toggle stick to keep the majority of shots on target.
As an Rpg the division does well keeping the progression of the leveling system rewarding and exciting enough to grind the repetitive side missions that in my opinion are short, easy, and quick enough to complete that the repetitive aspect can be over looked. Many of the side missions also reward players credits to put towards their perks, talents, and abilities so “grinding them out” or completing everything in the area should be more enjoyable and challenging then returning to a low level area with a high level character. As I mentioned the perk, talent and ability trees coincide with a credit system where the credits are rewarded for completing side missions and main story missions that also result in you restoring order to the city, rebuilding the infrastructure and returning control the united states government. Along with the different skill trees a great deal of focus was spent on the progressive loot system. Upon reaching higher levels the players character will have the opportunity to equip stronger weapons and armor that he or she finds through out the game either via loot drop, safe house vendors, or even a crafting system. The crafting system is simple as materials are found readily available scattered though the game or weapons and gear can be deconstructed instead of sold to create base materials that can then be crafted into equipment better suited to your level and play style. Along with finding better equipment a player will also find different articles of clothing that can be equipped to change the aesthetic look of the player which is a nice feature if you like to be especially different, stand out, or even create something of a uniform you and your friends wear to tell each other apart in the Dark Zone.

    MMO and the Dark Zone

The massive multilayer online genre really only comes into play upon entering the Dark Zone. The Dark Zone is a quarantined area within the quarantined city… Unlike the rest of the cities districts that are pve and only populated by you and your invited squad members as well as NPCs, The dark zone is the area where every player roams freely amongst enemies of super and elite status with higher armor and damage ratings. The dark zone is a free for all to any player that decides to enter, within these walls any player can engaged another player in combat. All loot that is gathered here most go through a decontamination process as there are higher levels of the virus here, before your able to equip it. When you want to extract gear you have to go to an extraction zone where a helicopter will come grab your new loot, decontaminate, and place it into your stash box. This is where the dark zone gets tricky because players will try to kill for your dark zone loot as your player will drop it upon being killed and any other player can pick it up. In my personal experience a lot of players will try and kill you right as your placing your dark zone loot bag onto the helicopter rig as your are defenseless for about 5 seconds during this action. The dark zone also has its own leveling system and while inside you will only earn dark zone exp and dark zone credits which reward players with the option to buy from dark zone vendors as well as open dark zone loot crates.

    My opinion of the game.

If your interested and wondering whether its actually worth 60$. Go get this game, IT IS. I've had so much fun playing this game and feel like its worth every penny as a gamer. The match making system is really easy to use. I have had no issues with joining my friends for PVE or PVP. And video games are always so much better with online interaction because situations will never play out the exact same way between online play. I’ve only run into one bug where I couldn’t enter A door to a stairway leading to another door but I could scale the side of the building so the stairwell wasn't even needed. There are a lot of great features that have been implemented to making this game stand out from other shooters rpgs and mmos that give it its own very unique feel. As far of replay ability in the traditional sense I don’t see a need to remake another character outside of changing sex or race as all the skills trees are completly unlock-able in one play through. But I feel as long as they create content monthly which is what I’ve been told would happen. When its comes to the life span of this game its really up to the dlc dev teams, because with new content comes new adventures...

    So why a 9?
Few things missing in the game which may or may not be fixed going forward with DLC and tweaks.
-Levels are massive and detailed and feel a touch empty at times regarding things to do. Fallout did this better somehow with more loot stashed in more places and more explore-able area's.
-For an RPG the story really feels lacking, why am I in the city, what am I doing, what's my end goal. It just needs more love. If the user isn't going to speak, take some notes from HL2. If he is going to speak look at Mass Effect to see how this is simply done better in both cases.
-Could use a bit better explanation of skills, talents, leveling, weapon stats, consumables. By the time I hit level 15 the game was half over and I'm only finally understanding how everything works. Maybe this is part of the fun but I've seen this done better many times eg. Mass Effect series.

The cover system is intuitive and robust at the same time. The crafting is not as deep as say Fallout 4, but it is there and that is pretty cool. The multiplayer is fun and challenging and fresh, nothing like what I have ever played before. The reward system, although still using it a little, is not overly dependent on RNG like some other games I have been playing...

My only complaint has to do with the way that mission difficulty gets bumped up to match the rank of the highest person in a squad. If I am a lvl 12 doing a lvl 12 mission and my lvl 20 friends drop in, I am now about to get destroyed and one shot for the next hour while they get to play my mission. I think I understand why they did it, to keep people from power leveling their friends too quickly. However, it seems like there should have been some sort of middle ground like bump up the difficulty by three levels above what it was rated at. IDK something to make it still playable for the host who just happened to be part of an active clan.

Overall, this has to be one of the more ambitious titles out there right now. My only concern is Ubisoft supporting the game and making it a long standing franchise. I am hoping they will but a global pandemic in the real world does not have quite the creative freedom as say Assassins Creed (thousands of years of history to work with) or Destiny (entirely a work of fiction). I'm hoping this franchise does well and keeps going for years. It's off to a great start.

Now, i have heard some bad things about it being very repetitive, and being like Destiny, but... i love Destiny! The beginning was a bit slow, but i got 'back into it' and remembered everything from the beta. The graphics are pretty good (1080p vs 900p for battlefront i think) there WERE a few little lags where it might stop or skip, or dialogue cut out, but the gameplay was awesome. I am still a pretty low lvl, and have been busy only to play some of the story, and a little dz, but have enjoyed it. Playing alone can get a little boring, but the matchmaking is great, and the dz is something creative, and reminds me a little of a scaled down Arma or something, and i am glad i took back battlefront. I don't want to smash battlefront, but for 60 bucks, even 40 bucks, you aren't getting much, and i will probably buy it if it either lets you do offline multiplayer, or is like 20 bucks. Also, many people are butthurt about political views in this game, and being right wing, but you need to remember, many other games (hardline) blatantly bash conservatives, and no one said anything about that, so you guys hatin this game because a little politics need to just shut up and enjoy it. So, yes, i would recommend this to anyone who wants to enjoy a fun sorta mmorpg that is also tactical, and fun solo, and even better in a group. also, i don't even care for 3rd person, but this game is an exception! Playing with friends is really where it's at. You can play solo but man, getting a team together and using each others characters strengths is what makes it rewarding. The Dark Zone is the best part of the game. A mixture of PvE and PvP make this a challenging and quite satisfying by getting a decent chance at scoring greater gear and weapons. Some downsides are that most of the side missions and side quests are very similar and repetitive. Your character does not actually say one word the entire game..which was quite disappointing for people who love to invest into characters. Another downside is there is no trading system. It would have been nice to be able to help friends if they are needing that extra piece of gear to help them get to that next step. All in all, this is Ubisoft's best Shooter period. Expand

A new MMO gaming experience with pure RPG elements. But many repetitious side missions and encounters; And some tactical problems including texture loading problems. Totally worth playing if you like new experiences or you are a MMO fan.

My experience in the division so far has been fun and addicting. Im 23 hours into the game and not even close to finishing. The graphics are beautiful, the loot glorious, and the player to player interaction engaging. The only problem i have is slight mission repetition on side mission but other than this its worth every penny.

This game is very flawed. However Dev's are fixing things as they go like any ARPG (diablo3) and this game is addicting as F**k. So buy it. It can be a grind at times but you will get addicted.

Game mechanics and visuals are nice unfortunately the bugs and glitches have left the end game severely unbalanced which means at present there is little end game unless you enjoy glitching your way through content to keep up with others.

I was an idiot who bought the season pass before even playing the game and that is the only reason I am keeping the disc. The PVP in this game is really not balanced at all. The culture in this game is really really bad, people tend to shoot you in the back a lot and if you don't have a group you can get rocked on over and over and over. The gap in gear is crazy, you can just twink out a level 14 and walk around one and two shotting all the newbies. I even caught myself laughing at a few low levels getting plowed down by me and my friends. But after much thought it just turns people into arses.

Also the bugs in this game are horrible, you will be fighting someone and then they glitch through the wall to where they can shoot out but you can't shot in along with a whole bunch of other glitches. I gave them time to fix the game but I have minimal hope for the longevity of this one.

Very disappointed I bought this and even more so that I bought the season pass. Save yourself some money and rent the game before you buy it, otherwise you may have remorse like many of us out here.

The Division is a pretty fun game with good gun play and the co-op is really fun.

But the problem with it s the fact that it gets boring after 20 hours of game play and the story in not good at all.

The gameplay was fine at first but devolved into bullet sponge hell. Without friends to co op with the singleplayer becomes nearly unplayable as you have to take down way too many way too powerful bullet sponges. The Dark Zone is worthless and the end game leaves so much to be desired. It's the epitome of just alright and horrible as a loot game.

New York looks stunning, even in the decrepit state after the Virus. Your main guy can be customised, but most ppl look the same. However this rarely makes a difference as were not here on a modelling shoot !!

weapons and added gear is spot on and levels up with you, and the DLC is fantastic, and it shows the developers have taken time to correct any problems and errors.
Even though, im still playing it, were still getting add ons, DLC and patches and its s till a lot of fun.
Dark Zone can be a pain, but it asks you to take the risk, and the gear sets can be notoriously hard to get, but still, its enjoyable and best played with friends, to make the most of all the abilities and perks and talents.

having everyone as a medic is rarely enjoyable.
get your medic, cover enhancement, couple of turrets and explosive grenades going, and your a force to be reckoned with.

After Destiny, which a few ppl are comparing this to, i find this far more enjoyable, and im still sticking with it. Destiny just came and passed me by, and hardly as much fun to play, and seemed far more repetitive, where as this game knows what it is, and doesnt spawn the same DLC over and over, asking to dress up even better, ooooh .
sorry, bit of a rant then

    Overview
Now that the first person shooter market is over run with the same old same old vibe of games it seems third person shooters won’t be out done. With game such as Tomb Raider, Gears of war, and Uncharted setting the bar very high there is little room for error. If that weren’t enough, Tom Clancy’s name and license has all but run its course. Recent games like Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Rainbow Six Under Siege haven’t done much to uphold the good name of both Ubisoft, and Tom Clancy. With The Division, Ubisoft looks to change this.
    Story
On Black Friday, a smallpox pandemic, transmitted by a virus planted onto banknotes, sweeps through New York City. The disease, called "Green Poison" and "The Dollar Flu", causes widespread chaos, and Manhattan is placed under quarantine. The U.S. Government activates sleeper agents in the population who operate for the Strategic Homeland Division, or simply "The Division", to assist emergency responders, in restoring order. The Division’s story is a deep and intriguing one and satisfyingly unfolds at a slow but nice pace. It was a very smart move by Ubisoft to include a story in this game. Without it things would totally revolve around online play. Games like Evolve and Destiny suffer greatly from an absent story so when a gamer’s internet is down things get boring pretty fast.
    Graphics
The Division has so much going for it graphically that it’s frustrating to see the hiccups that the game goes through. First off, this game at a glance is breath taking. The care and detail given to the city of New York is impressive. Cars react to being shot nicely. Snow and other weather physics are nothing short of amazing. Shadows, lighting, and other little touches are remarkable. With a clean and crisp HUD gamers will easily become immersed as fights unfold throughout the city of Manhattan. Just as quick as you admire the visuals, you doubly will become frustrated. Numerous graphical glitches and bugs plague this great looking game. Clipping, map texturing, and pop ups happen far too frequently. With a game this graphically sophisticated a few hiccups are expected, but it happens way too often.
    Gameplay
The game play is a mix of several games. There are elements of Borderlands, Destiny, and GTA to name a few. You’ll basically be playing an MMO. You build stats buy gear and earn loot. You take control of your agent scour the city in hopes of helping citizens or securing drop zones much like dying light. Unlike Dying Light your best bet is to work with a squad because going at any mission alone is borderline suicide. You dodge, run, and shoot your way through the city. Things are simple and satisfying, but as the game progresses the mastery of your character becomes deep and rewarding. The loot system is a bit broken, but then again what console MMO isn’t? The game lets you create your own character but as you venture online you quickly learn that there isn’t much depth in this area as hordes of online players resemble each other. Load times are an absolute pain in the butt. You will be sitting through cut scenes only to be greeted with black screens as the next area loads. To sum things up the game is fun but gets old real quick.
    Sound
The sound is quite impressive but music itself is absent. The guns sound realistic and other ambient sound fills in the gaps. Sadly music is missing while you play…what’s left is dead silence until either a huge battle or a cut scene takes place. Don’t expect much by the way of sound.
    Replay Value

The replay value is high mostly due in part to the online fun that can be had. You team up with friends and or strangers to tackle the challenges Manhattan gives you. Enter the dead Zone and duke it out with other players, or do the unthinkable and GO ROUGE. The potential for endless fun is there, but unfortunately things get repetitive real fast. The division has potential to be played for years, but what hampers this is the same thing that plagues many games these days. In a word that thing is GREED. It seems publisher’s first concern now-a-days is how can they drain your pockets of every dollar you have. Can’t earn it? Why not buy it? Want weapons or gear that even the odds? Why not buy it? You want DLC after DLC but no bugs fixed? Why not buy it?

Much like Destiny this game comes off as no more than a cash cow. It’s a great game to play online with friends for a while but it soon becomes apparent that you have been there and done it in many other mediocre shooters. So the Division doesn’t do much to set itself apart from those aforementioned titles. The Division is a decent rental but it would be hard to recommend it for purchase, as you will undoubtedly spend way more than the 59.99 price tag in the long run. With that said the division gets a 5 out of 10.

The enemies are all the same and take an entire magazine to kill. The bosses are even worse and lack any interesting/memorable features. They're just boring bullet-sponges as many others have mentioned. Not that much weapon variety either, just the same guns with different stats. If you want to compare, it's like Destiny 2 without the diverse environments, enemy variety, weapon variety, and with inferior controls.

On the flip side, the feel of the guns is pretty good, and the city is fairly detailed. I can see how it could be fun if you did everything with friends. But for someone who's just trying this several years later after picking it up for $4.99, it's very hard to enjoy. I ended up returning it after 2 days.

I like playing all the missions on Hard level in solo mode the first time through to get the lay of the land, restock locations, and enemy patterns, and then going back a few times to team up with others. Let's just say this, a videogame is supposed to be FUN. And the division, like Destiny is lots of it.
They're both Ok games, they haven't reinvented the RPGs or the videogame world. But they`re great fun games. And I know many reviewers just don't see it like that, they see it like work and forget the true nature of videogames.
That said this games has it flaws. Character customization
Let's just say this, a videogame is supposed to be FUN. And the division, like Destiny is lots of it.

That said this games has it flaws. Character customization sucks, not many options when you create your agent, still seems like you're on Beta. Moments when in game you are just walking with no real threat. Not many weapon variety, but firing your weapon is tons of fun.
Dark Zone is intense, and I do mean intense. This is where you do feel the threat. Trying to extract some weapons just to have some NPCs come and kick your arse is hardcore. There's also the threat of not knowing if the other players will betray you or help you.

Storywise I don't care much, I mean it's not that bad, but the fun side of the gameplay just wants to keep shooting and killing every RIker or Cleaner instead of listening to the story.

I must admit I desperately wanted this game to be terrible. When I saw the graphical downgrades and what seemed to be at the time, highly over-exaggerated trailers I thought to myself: here we go again. Just another Watchdogs scenario. Misleading marketing for a below average game. I digress, Tom Clancy's The Division is actually really good. Misleading marketing for a below average game. I digress, Tom Clancy's The Division is actually really good. Set in a post-apocalyptic New York, you are a sleeper agent working for a government agency called The Division. I don't want to go to far into it for fear of spoiling it for you, but I truly feel this is a must play. Don't let the destiny comparison scare you. I totally get why Destiny has such an enormous following, but it just wasn't really what I was looking for in a game. Hell, I'm not completely sure The Division is! Needless to say I cant put it down. The city looks beautiful, the gun play is satisfying as well as the loot system. When I saw the map outline in a Gamespot video I thought it looked tiny but it is enormous. I would say maybe a third of The Witcher 3 (If you have played The Witcher then you know one third of the entire Witcher map is still massive) I know I know, just because the map is big doesn't mean the game is great, but it has depth and an all around abundance to it. There is plenty to do for at least a good month or two depending on the time you have, and that is just missions. The Dark Zone is another story. The Dark Zone is pretty much The Division's pvp mode where you mostly kill NPCs. Haha i know but surely you have heard enough about the DZ to know about what goes on. If you are wondering if you can go in alone then yes, you can. Although it's not quite as fun as going in with a couple friends whom even though you have known for years you still don't completely trust, i have gone in alone plenty of times. You make yourself an easier target but it can be done. Most players are smart enough to know it's easier on them and everyone else if they just play nice. :-) Give it a try. I know it's Ubisoft but I cant deny that the game is a lot if fun, and at times extremely intense, and in my opinion truly shines during those 20 to 30 minute fire fights. Expand

Well, let me go and play destiny again...The division just feels so bland if you already played Destiny. It is not bad, it just lacks excitement and awe. It is, however, still fun if you play it with your friends, however, there are better alternatives out there. Rather spend your money on Destiny or Overwatch. I think even Warframe is a better experience.

    pros:
    Graphics
    skills
    gun customization
    challenging missions
    dark zone

    cons:
    bad dialogue for some characters
    repetitive encounters

It started good, but then it becomes pure grinding and repetition. The same enemies, the same missions. Lots of enemies are just bullet sponges. The city and graphics look nice, this game had a potential to be a lot better.

This is a game that I can't stop playing. It is a great fun to play the story missions with other players through the excellent matchmaking system. There allows great cooperation with various skills and weapons offered.
The graphics are decent. However, it seems there's nothing interesting to do besides shooting at bad guys. Finding a missing person is boring to me.

    Beautiful game, powerful story.
For sure this game has the potential to become bigger with the season pass.
So many stories and sub plots to tell and understand. 22 hours single player? genius. All the side missions are awesome to clear the mood before jumping to missions. Loot, skill tree and the possibility to have multple style in your soldiers. About the enemies...yes they are all

About the enemies...yes they are all human...but with different styles...
The Human Pandemic plot obviously doesn't take the space for different species like Destiny.
    Above all...it's fun!

It won't win converts to the genre and the plot is problematic, but The Division is a handsome open-world offering, spiked with treachery. [May 2016, p.81]

That's the essential nature, and essential problem, of The Division's underlying structure. It's asking you to hunt gear with no tangible reward in terms of what you can do, how you do it, or what you look like doing it. [May 2016, p.108]

It builds a strong foundation on the gameplay front, offering up rewarding combat and simple skills, but doesn’t follow that with anything substantial, being content to let the standard end game grind and excellent-yet-stressful PVP try to cover all the questions its writing leaves you with.
