First of All, This is a MMO RPG, this is nth different from other RPG.

Its just another game with consistence on looting, leveling up. another word BORING, it is a game for no brainier, update yourself with latest glitch then you're the top players in the serve. It is nth like back in Diablo 2. If any future game developer wanna do any MMORPG again, pls take a look on PSP - Monster

It got a way better looting system, farm, wider range of weapon of choice. They alimented the PvP element, but did a good fine job with cooperate

The only good thing is it is very popularized game at the moment

    Pro:
Very populated game for at least 2-3 months

Good Coop system (but not the actual play, Army of Two by EA is a way better 3rd Person shooter.)

a must for Any mmorpg players (Destiny, Diablo)

    Cons:
Only few missions, you could finish all of it on 1st night.

fooling graphic (we know the E3 demo)

    Too repetitive.

Little Variety of Enemies So Far

Worst PvP system I've ever seen (You will never get a fair fight in DZ)

This is how you create an RPG shooter. I will be playing this for months and will be picking up the season pass. The game just keeps on giving and is never dull. Bravo, Ubisoft.

the division is too bad, it is suck too much, repetitive gameplay too boring to play for so long, I tried but could not continue to be, I made a mistake buying this game when I to spend money on a game, not a product failure like this, I would not recommend a friend or anyone here to buy this product because it is a big disappointment

The Dark Zone, it is really the Gank Zone. Players who know the exploits get gear faster, what makes this game even worse is that the entire game is programmed against you. Instead of sizing up a situation and then executing your plan, when you are about to get loot, extract loot or leave the Dark Zone, magically NPC's appear, the PC controls are a click fest, this is so obvious a port from the console the menu system is very un-intuitive. Cool concept, nice graphics, resource hog. It is not worth it. Expand

If you liked Destiny at launch, there's a strong chance you'll like this. Maybe even more...
This game has stronger RPG mechanics than Destiny yet the environment is extremely bland and unappealing to me. I strongly recommend to play this game with your friends. With more content and dark zone refinements this game will easily get an 8 or above from me.

At first glance this game is o'k, pretty look and role-play system, many weapons etc. But when you play it it turned to an ugly monster: a lot of bugs, nad cashing, boring and similar side-quests, and as a center of ugliness: Dark Zone PvP. This pvp are made SO BAD, that it does not provide fun, only anger.

Everything from lighting to reflections in puddles and windows look fantastic although arguably less so than its PC counterpart. In terms of depth it might be too soon to give the Division the edge over Destiny but it offers so much options in terms of customization that I absolutely love it. Adding a scope, grip or paint to your rifle and seeing it swing from your backpack is ackwardly satisfying. The only possible downside I can mention, is like Destiny, is the chance of repetitiveness in terms of missions and foes. I hope that with more time and progress in the storyline, I have played roughly five to seven hours now, the variety in missions, foes and their tactics will increase because this is what ruined Destiny for me, it was just too repetitive. Overall it looks and plays better than Destiny, its customization options far exceed Destiny's kits and classes (although Destiny's gear estetics where nice too look at) so the Division has tons of potential and I hope Ubisoft will be continue to add to this world by both free and paid content.

PS For all the FPS players: THIS IS NOT AN FPS AND DO NOT ATTEMPT TO PLAY IT THAT WAY. ITS AN RPG..

It is a considerably more rounded game than Destiny (to which it has been often compared) with a much more distinct sense of purpose to the game. Destiny felt like a collection of arenas tied together with a very flimsy narrative. The Division's narrative is much more clearly defined and the world is much more cohesive.
Multiplayer works like a charm in PvE.
My only criticism is that there may be some balancing issue with difficulty in the Dark Zone (PvP).
Hopefully Ubisoft will be able to balance things out in the future.

The developers were very slow to tap its potential, and while still more than two years fixing it they haven’t reached the peak, they have accomplished almost most of it. Unfortunately, it’s already too late for people who have abandoned the game, that makes the game less profitable and sends resources to other paths instead of perfecting the game. While they finally got the loot, the balancing and activities right, the developers never got to fix their crown jewel, the Dark Zone. PvP is a toxic mess that counters everything the game is set to do, and not for everyone, but it’s there if you want to try it. Fortunately, those who want to avoid the Dark Zone and PvP in general, now have plenty of activities to do. The community on PC is all but depleted, so I recommend the PS4 if you want to easily matchmake for the surprisingly long list of activities the game has gathered through the years. I believe at this stage, the developers should capitalize on the positive changes, and lower the sticker price of the game significantly, avoid paying full price for it at all cost, but do buy it. I really appreciate this game being a coop campaign and can everything play entirely with friends, now a lot of developers become lazy and doesn't even include a single player campaign or coop elements. (star war, rainbow six) much more social compared to shooter rpg like fallout.. however the map as usual in ubisoft always shows too many points of interest in the map which strips away the fun and unknown excitement of exploration.

The Division is a third person shooter action-MMO. The premise of the game is that someone has released an engineered supervirus in New York City. You are a member of The Division, a top-secret organization of sleeper agents who are activated to help bring order to the city.

And here we already run into our first issue – why? Why are we sleeper agents, and not just ordinary citizens who have decided to help? Because we’re super badasses and they wanted to justify that? How would random schmucks who spend most of their time doing other things all be super badasses?

    Whatever.

The point is, you are going into New York City and establishing order by killing rioters, looters, sanitation workers, criminals, and private military company folks who are all trying to take over the city. And yes, the sanitation workers thing is not a joke; they walk around with flamethrowers on their backs trying to clean things up.

Alas, despite this pretend-variety, in reality, most enemies fight pretty similarly – there’s some difference with the sanitation workers (the cleaners) because of their flamethrowers, but otherwise the factions are largely interchangeable, save for the fact that the PMC faction has medics.

The enemies are mostly pretty samey. There’s a handful of special enemy types, but they are basically ordinary enemies with some added ability, save for the snipers, who just attack you at long range. The only real exceptions are some “unique” enemies, who are anything but unique but which have more health and sometimes play a bit more differently, with a couple of big, heavy characters and one who carries around a shield to block your attacks with.

Sadly, this “variety” is pretty minimal compared to the gameplay length, and by the end of it, you will have fought all of these enemies to the point where it becomes rote.

The Division is a new kind of MMO – a primarily single-player experience wherein you will never encounter another player in most of the game area due to almost the entire world being an instanced area for the player alone. You can play with other people at will, but you can also play it as a single-player experience, and frankly, it works just fine as one and doesn’t feel like it gets much added to it from multiplayer. That being said, that’s not really a good or bad thing – it is about the same quality either way, and unfortunately, that quality is rather low.

The real problem is the sameiness. The game is ultimately just a cycle of you going out and killing enemies to get better loot. The dungeons are just a series of battles with enemies which are, frankly, mostly interchangeable with battles you get into wandering around the city streets, save that sometimes there are reinforcements which join the battles. The quests, too, basically follow the same mold, and ultimately the game consists of “defend a location while enemies attack you in waves” and “attack enemies who are defending a location”. Basically the whole game follows this, and there is very little variety – what little variety there is mostly a function of the particular environment, and even there, there are a number of copy-pasted environments, including a sewer fight that I think I had five separate times.

The story is pretty bland – in theory, it is a neat idea, but in practice, you just don’t have any link to any of the characters (being a mute protagonist) and they’re all fairly generic. None of them are terribly voice-acted or get terrible lines, they’re just bland and lack any real depth. As such, there’s no reason to care about their plight. The civilians are all interchangeable, and there’s just so little to grab onto anywhere in the game.

All in all, this is just not worth your time.

They appear to have learned what Destiny did well (and wrong) and created a very familiar experience that feels fresh and new. This game is incredibly addictive and a blast

The game isn't very violent so you can play in front of children, but the problem was the random f bombs coming out of enemies mouths. It could have been like Borderlands but they really ghettoed up the game. The story is really annoying as well with just unlikable shock factor characters that cuss too much and are uninteresting and extremely insecure, opinionated. The biggest mistake was adding foul words so parents can't play this in front of their kids with little violence and no blood. I understand it's a european country and they have problems with understanding American culture, so there's a lot of ideas that I believe came from them. So they cut their audience in half just with that aspect of it. The other issues was the lgbt and basically no straight girls in the game whatsoever. It's a game of lesbians and that's it. It's a world where women don't want to be with men anymore. This is also from watching American TV and assuming that's what Americans want. That cuts the audience in half again. Only games like black ops can pull off the sadistical cool atmosphere and Ubisoft just feels like they are trying too hard to please an audience that barely exists. If the game wasn't trying to preach it's liberal religion on people it could have gotten a 9/10. It's a fun game and has a lot to offer as the second of its kind (CMO). It's a real shame. I wish they would talk to a marketing person for the American culture for 15 minutes and learn some real basics on story telling and keeping the atmosphere and story safe from causing people to be uncomfortable, disappointed, and annoyed. Recall that this game has always been intended as an RPG not a shooter. As such, enemies need to not always die in one hit (many do, but not elites or bosses. that would be lame even in a shooter). As an rpg, there is an element of grinding required to level up and find good gear and the right loadout for you. The balance probably needs a little work, but the gameplay is amazing and fun. I don't even find myself minding the repetition due to the dynamics of the combat. I've done PvE only thus far as I am not a huge PvP fan, but it has kept me quite engaged with a good story and depth in the characters and enemies. The world feels alive, though dying (as it should) and the graphics are pretty fabulous, as a person who has worked in multimedia myself. The game feels fluid and customizing your gear is fun. Yes your character model does not have a huge array of options ,but enough to simulate most ethnic groups unlike many game which claim customization. In addition, most of the appearance customization comes in the form of apparel which are purely cosmetic items of clothing. So if you like rpgs with a more action-like combat pace, tactical shooting, and you enjoy fairly grim story arcs, this is a great game. The co-op play is great and easy with drop-in drop-out online play, and can even be a significant challenge if you want to play some of the story missions on harder difficulties. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Story:
The division have a nice background story and a well created open world environment that reflect the post-apocalypse NYC. The story about the outbreak and what happened to the first wave agents are excellent and worth spending time to discover the pieces. However, the story progress through the main story missions is mediocre. There is no choice or option for the player to pick, and no moral engagement of player’s action. When you progress through the story and side missions, the only influence you make is limited to the base of operation and the dialogue of several NPCs. After all you have done, what you see during the free roam is mostly the same. While in the 2014 E3 trailer the agents restrained to open fire; and the 2015 E3 trailer it emphasized that the divisions as the last resort to save what remain, the actual gameplay ended up encourage you to fire chips over chips of bullets into enemies’ head. Not only because the enemies take quite a lot of hit to die, also because every single story mission ended up asking you to eliminate every single enemy on sight. This setting seems to contradict the very original idea of the game.

    Gameplay:
Despite the story settings, the gameplay of the first story play through is fun and enjoyable. The hard mode is probably the best part of the game, that you would need to utilize your skills and talents as your advantage… until you and your teammates become overgeared and steamroll it.
For the end-game, there are four challenge mode missions. The challenge mode basically multiplies the armor and firepower of the enemies and give some enemies skills to counter/resist the stun locks. As long as your team know how to deal with the “rushers”, the rest of the mission is not that difficult. If your team is under geared, you would likely end up in a 1-2 hours tedious long fight.
Dark Zone is one of the highlighted elements of the game. However, it struggles between the PvE and PvP gameplay. As for PvE, the dark zone area is not particularly big, that most groups will cycle though several of the easier enemy strongholds and loot spots, meaning that every time you enter the dark zone for PvE, you are mostly doing the same things as the last time you enter. As for PvP, it comes other problems. Firstly, as this is not a tactical shooter, and weight heavily on gears, the PvP is not likely a fair fight (until everyone in the dark zone obtained the top tier gears). Secondly, the NPC enemies become annoying obstacles, even you want to focus on PvP, you would need to clear the NPC enemies in the area first to prevent them interrupt you during the PvP.

    Others:
The weather effects in game is visually impressive; however, it does not change much of the gameplay. For example, the snow storm would block your sights, but does not affect the NPC’s)
There are quite a lot of game crashing bugs, and the loading time is quite long. (1 mark is deducted from this)

TL,DR: Nice background story and open world environment; mediocre main game story; fun and enjoyable before end-game; not so enjoyable end-game

Sadly not as good as the reviews say. The fact that you have to empty an entire magazine into a base-level bad guy before they die is stupid. Bullets bounce off a target's skull because their HP says that they are still alive. It's sucks all the skill out of the game and is very frustrating when the enemies can simply plug you with a couple of shots in comparison. Not recommended.

The experience I had up until I reached level 30 was, no doubt, spectacular. The graphics, the gameplay and the great sense of progression always kept me playing the game. But once you reach level 30 the majority of the game's problems start to shine. It's unfair to say that though, as Ubisoft have released many updates in response to fans' requests, and personally I think they've done a great job. They've added new content to the Dark Zone, new weapons, new gear sets, a new score system and plenty of minor improvements.

Overall it's a great game but still has plenty of room for improvement.

One bit of advise for tougher enemies make them fight on your terms keep movement levels high and drag the enemies all over the local area set traps for them with turrets and grenades and eventually you will wear down their armor and be able to take them down.

The gun modification system is well done and easy to understand. In most modern games, an easy modification system is a rare sight, which means all the more credit to Ubisoft.
Navigating the map can be really fun, surprisingly. There's tons of stuff to do, such as complete encounters, do side missions, loot, etc.
I swear to God, I spend about 30 minutes each session trying to make my character look freaking fabulous. And I have succeeded.
There's actual challenge to the game, meaning enemies aren't made of cotton candy and objectives are fairly tough. Each level will easily take up at least 30 minutes, sometimes up to an hour.
All the technical stuff (Graphics, controls, less glitches, etc.) is superb.
I, personally, think the story is pretty worth it. It'll keep you fairly interested for the most part.

The game has problems though, so it is nowhere near perfect.
You'll see the same enemies over and over again as you make a painstaking attempt to slaughter a million clones charging at you.
If you're a level 10, have a group of levels 9-11 and then a level 30 or so comes on, you're screwed. The level unbalance can be crazy and outright unfair at times.
The game's so called "bosses" are no more than bullet sponge versions of normal enemies.
This is more of a complaint for Beta players: I remember at level 6 or 7 I was gathering loot in the DZ during the Beta and kicking ass with my sweet new gear. Now, the first time I was able to extract without getting brutally massacred by two bullets from the weakest enemies was at level 10 or 11. FML.
If you buy the Gold Edition, the sawed off shotgun you get will only last up to about level 12 or 13, 15 if you're lucky (WHATEVER YOU DO, THOUGH, DON'T GET RID OF IT. EVER. IT WILL SAVE YOUR SORRY ASS WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT). The outfits for GD are sweet, though.

With all of its problems, all of the good stuff is where The Division really shines. If you're hesitant, than read more into the game. If you're interested and are mostly on the side of getting it, you're probably going to love it.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that they're beautiful, the guns all feel the same.

My biggest cocern was the overhype/under promise that was Destiny so imagine my surprise when that wasn’t the case.

The Division is dense. Leveling up to 30 was an absolute treat with great gameplay and an amazing environment. Everything is mechanically sound, there is extensive crafting, serious equipment customization, and proper rpg mechanics rather than the shallow excuse Destiny had.

The only negative comment I have about this game that the story lacks and takes a back seat to everything else. It doesn’t really become interesting until end game and once you’re there it seems like it’s going on in the peripheral and you’re not really a part of it.

The environment is gorgeous and immersive. I have no idea how they managed to make a small part of New York into such a varied and interesting place, but Ubisoft did it. Each faction leaves its imprint on the areas they inhabit. The streets are alive despite being abandoned as crippled citizen’s hobble to you asking for aid.

I’m level 30 and thoroughly invested in the End Game which is where these games really need to shine. Matchmaking is solid (if not perfect) and once you’re in with a good group the opportunities for PVE and PVP are endless. The open world integrates perfectly through the use of the darkzone making the endgame content seem like a real part of the world rather than a hallway tacked onto the game.

As usual not everyone will love this game. You can’t please everyone, but if you take the time to sit down and invest in The Division you will find yourself sucked in and loving every moment of it.

    RPG aspect

Excellent and very clever design. The classes aren't set in stone, you can easily switch to Heals, Tank and DPS freely which means you don't have to create too many alts. The Character Creator was a total bummer especially for this genre of game. I end up looking like 3 of my friends (I'm Asian btw, the stereotype of us looking alike. THE IRONY!!) You either have a choice between Asian, Afro American, Hispanic or middle age white guy...or ugly butch women with short hair.

The loot drops are SOOOO much better than Destiny. You will be upgrading gear nearly every time you complete any missions. Fetch quests are no longer, you just complete missions get the gear and rewards straight away.

    Shooter aspect

Totally 3rd person and again its RPG style. Head shots, although does more damage doesn't kill enemies straight away. FPS fans, might be turned away from this. Bosses are bullet sponges yet your team will need to use good strategy to bring them down eg. suppression fire, stun grenades. My only drawback is that there's no prone or crouch position and sneak.

    Story and Gameplay

Story to me is pretty linear with good voice acting. The environment is top notch. Gunfire echoes down the empty streets, enemies shouting instructions making Combat really intense. AI can be a bit inconsistent. Times they flank you on both sides with shotguns and baseball bats, other times they climb on top of a car where they become a sitting duck.

Co Op and Dark Zone PvP

The Co Op I have no problems whatsoever. Still a fresh game, won't have a problem finding crews. As simple as choosing 'Open' and watch players jump in your game straight to the action.

The Dark Zone is a new approach to PvP. You can either work as a team with other players to kill AI with high end gear or you can choose to go 'Rogue' and hunt down fellow human players and steal their loot but get punished more when you get killed. Any loot gathered can't be used unless extracted by chopper which makes the gameplay exciting yet stressful as you need to defend the extraction for about 2min from AI and human scavengers who will try to kill you at the very end and steal your loot. I find this an awesome way of PvP. It's not perfect yet but I think it will improve especially with the upcoming DLC.

Overall, I love this game. Although they are 2 very different games, The Division did their research on Destiny's many flaws and came up trumps.

I give it a 9 praising gameplay, multiplayer, graphics and sound.

    - 1 for the Character Creation as I found it very limited especially for a game with strong RPG features.

The game is great looking and I love the premise of the game and several other aspects but the fact that you have to shoot one enemy gunman 300 times before you kill him (in the head most of the shots) is a little too unrealistic. I hope it gets better as time goes on and they make improvements.

As I was going through the reviews, I saw someone saying that the game is shallow. This game is FAR from shallow. The environments and the gameplay is top of the line. No longer is it possible to be massively overpowered where I could pummel all my enemies because of brute strength and dumb A.I. Hard mode missions in this game is actually VERY HARD. It plays so beautifully that I don't mind retrying to kill a boss for hours on end as long as it goes down! As bosses gets harder, I get better strategically and actually feel accomplished after a mission. I love the skirmishes where two npc's from two different factions attack each other. I can literally go for cover and watch the whole fight play out and grab me some popcorn. I can snipe both factions slowly as they fight each other. I could even just walk away and let them handle their own business. This is an amazing game. Get it and I promise you wont regret it. Expand

If you wish to play in the Dark Zone, it is recommended to play with friends. The only downside about this game is the occasional glitches, where enemies glitch through objects and when you might be reading a tutorial, then it disappears right away. There are also some sound issues every once in a while, but that doesn't take anything away from the game.

Would I recommend it? Yes. Try to get a buddy or two to play with you. It's much more fun that way.

I'm taking my time with the story missions, side missions, collecting Intel and venturing into the dark zone and so far I am having a great time playing this game solo and with a buddy.

The story puts you in realistic setting where a virus outbreak has occurred and you, as a division agent are required to find out what happen and restore order. Besides a gripping story the collectable Intel is massively detailed and gives a great back story leading up to the outbreak and the activities which have occurred during the first 2 weeks of the virus spreading and the collapse of the city.

I've read other reviews giving a 1 or 2 / 10 for graphics due to a graphical downgrade but a review should be based on the game at launch and as the graphics stand they are simple amazing and do not warrant negative reviews.

As a cover base RPG shooter you need to take cover and think tactically for every fight how you are going to take down the enemies, this is not a run 'N' gun game. There are lots of perks, abilities and talents to choose from to make your character play to your game style. Yes there is "bullet sponging" which takes away from the realistic setting but for a RPG its universally known you need to level up and get better equipment to deal with those tougher enemies, this does not take away the enjoyment of the game.

The Division has MMO elements, you can either invite your friends to your group and tackle story missions together or advance into the dark zone, which is a PvP area. The dark zone can provide a player with mixed emotions and a different experience each time you enter. When you enter you don't know if you will be attacked by a rogue player while trying to extract some loot, or being helped to take down a boss. The game offers matchmaking as well if you do not have friends who have the game.

Pros = Graphics, Co-op, gameplay, loot, customization, crafting.
Cons = Some mission repetitiveness, Always-online is required.

So, I picked up a copy of the division on release day (I had a special edition pre-ordered) and after waiting in all day I managed to get on it on Tuesday night at 7pm.

I’ve hit it pretty hard over the last few days and have been very impressed by it thus far and I would recommend it to those that enjoy cover based shooters (think GRAW and gears of war). As par the course for an RPG there’s plenty of elements that will get people addicted.

The gun play is excellent, with very realistic gun designs, recoil and sound effects (something the Tom Clancy games have been excellent at since they started). However, I would question the ‘real’ distance them flamethrowers the cleaners use can reach!

The city is visually excellent, and the weather effects are amazing. From a bright sunny day where you can see blocks away, to a blizzard which reduces visibility to near zero, making it harder to not get ambushed, is fantastic.

Multiplayer is seemless with no loading screens after the original match making loading. Working with a team of mates is where this game comes to life. When you do team up, there are more enemies and are tougher as well which is cool and requires more tactics from the group than to just run and shoot. for an added chllenge try replaying missions with some mates on hard difficulty, its insane!

The fabled ‘trades’ of ‘tank’, ‘healer’ and ‘DPS’ have been included but in such a way that it feels seemless. Each player gains access to all talents when levelling up, and can be switched at any point to suit any situation. Having different selections for each player helps though! The amount of emphasis to each ‘trade’ is added to by the gear you wear and is staple to how you craft and keep the loot you have won from encounters and missions. It feels very well rounded thus far.

I ventured into the Dark Zone alone, which is the main PVP area, however I misread the level requirement and got smashed before I got 100 metres in, but I did see someone trying to extract the gear they got whislt exploring the dark zone, and they got ambushed by NPCs and some players were looking on waiting to pick it up should he die (its everyman for themselves in there!). i have since been in with some mates and it was an absolute balst. Totally different to the main game, you have to survie trying to get loot, then survive further when extratcing loot, its great!

All in all, great game. I can see myself spending some serious time on this!

People compare it to Destiny, which is incorrect as it’s a different type of game. Destiny was for all intents and purposes an arcade shooter; the division isnt. you need to use your cover and think about the fights not just run in! There was also no story with destiny (they could tell you the story but they don’t have time……) to which I need in a game. The division stands on its own and hopefully its longevity will be ensured by the DLC that’s due to come out.

Tom Clancy's The Division is representative of the future potential of hybrid MMO/single player games. You can play as a loner seeking to complete the 25-30 hour diverse main missions and enjoy the best realized story I've ever experienced in an MMO title.

Yet, I recommend that most players find a friend or two to get the most out of the game. Adding party members increases enemy numbers and intelligence. A coordinated party will have much more success in Dark Zone PVP areas where every other human being is met with extreme caution. In addition, multiple party members allow individuals to specialize their stats for a specific role using the surprisingly deep RPG customization. Loot and experience are individual, so there is no worry about getting less experience or loot while in a party.

Customization runs very deep in The Division. Weapons have several tiers and several levels. A more rare item may have unique abilities that are unlocked based upon your player stats. In addition, each weapon has a unique number of mod slots that allow you to further customize the stability, damage, critical hit chances, and zoom. Armor is similarly varied. Armor number is not necessarily the only thing you want to consider when equipping new pieces. Each piece of armor (chest, mask, gloves, holster, backpack, knee pads) gives a different stat boost (guns(attack), stamina(health), and technology (abilities). If playing in a group as a specific role, you may want the armor that gives you the best skill upgrade, not purely the one with the highest armor rating. Armor can also have mod slots that allow for further customization. As you upgrade your base of operations you'll unlock a crafting table to make your own gear and crafting items and a recalibration which can be used to gamble on a random selection of stat buffs for armor.

Your character customization includes abilities (must be activated), talents (must be equipped), and perks (passive). Within the abilities, you can unlock further customization. For example, a sentry turret can be altered to mark enemies, shock and temporarily paralyze enemies, or shoot fire. You can also outfit your character in various ways for a fun look. Choose between various types and colors of hats, shirts, pants, coats, scarves, and shoes. Color coordinating with party members can also be useful for identification in the Dark Zone.

The environment of the game is outstanding. As a person who previously lived in New York City, I found myself stopping to admire the landmarks I recognized and the familiarity it brought to the game. The desolate landscape of a cold and unforgiving city in the middle of winter is represented perfectly. All around you remnants of a society gone past remain. Sick citizens cough, cry, and plead for help. The game captures what a pandemic in a major center like New York City could do. The Division is by no means a small game, but it is somewhat disappointing key areas like Central Park and Harlem are not accessible in the current game. In addition, there's several boroughs left untouched. Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx would be great for further exploration. Imagine fighting through waves of enemies in Yankee Stadium or Citi Field. Fingers crossed for expansions.

The endgame causes a slight slowdown in gameplay. Yet, this should be expected after indulging in the 25-30 marathon of main story missions and getting to the main level cap. For a game that is not subscription nor microtransaction based, this is more than acceptable. However, if you do find yourself wanting more there are various side missions, encounter missions, a separate Dark Zone level cap, various collectibles to give you story context, base upgrades, loot, and daily missions to keep you and your friends very busy. Trophies/Achievements and UPlay points give nice incentive to replay story missions on Hard difficulty as well. In addition, there are clear statements of various missions and events such as "incursions" coming soon in free updates.

In summation, Tom Clancy's The Division is a masterpiece in fun team mechanics, hybrid gameplay, and deep customization. The game draws many comparisons to Destiny. It's not surprising seeing how few of these types of games currently exist. However, the launch version of Destiny felt very empty, lacked storytelling, and had bare bones customization and enemy variation. The Division does not suffer from any of these shortcomings. Those looking for a great 30 hours of single player fun or countless hours of coop fun with friends, look no further than The Division.

Speaking of team, this is a MMOish type of game so the idea of working as a team such as playing the best possible roles for the team, doing call outs and overall concentrating on the single goal of completing the mission is very fun and important to mention because to be honest, this game is meant to be played with your buddies. However, single player is fine but you would be having a way better experience playing with friends as you can explore the DZ without the anxiety of going solo. Overall, this game is a must buy for anyone looking to play with friends, but in a more in-depth way such as the reasons I stated above. This adds a lot of customization to the game and the weapons. The clothing customization definitely should've been better, but at least it was there. The plot, the main story, was lacluster to say the least. You don't get attached to any characters, or get engaged in the plot or anything. Although, I didn't really expect an amazing story from The Division. Although, the actual missions are structured extremely well. The main missions are very fun, because of the gameplay and structure of the mission. As an RPG, I expected a better character creator at the beginning, I was let down though. It's not a huge deal but it should've been better. A lot of people compare The Division to Destiny. I'm going to do that in the sense that, at launch, The Division is good, just like Destiny was good at launch. As my humble review i wold say that in generals terms, if you liked the ambience of watchdogs, the shooting of Borderlands (weapon stats and crafting, status effect added to bullets, etc), and the looting system of diablo, this game is for you.

    Pros:
+ Incredible details not just on the graphics, but on the sound. It has a dynamic night/day cycle, and even climate cycle.
+ Details to the minimum. You can hear the echo that makes a dog and a pigeon when flying on a snowy street, people fighting over food, dogs pissing and living their day, baggage bags stacked on the corridors of abbandoned buildings, and one thing that personally liked a lot that got me immersed, when doing sidequests i got into this IT building, and saw at guy desk, a picture of his wife and daughters at Paris.
+ Fun campaign and story, the one that you go completing by getting the audios, drones, and stuff arround the map.
+ Fun gameplay. You can craft, fight, personalize your character and gear.
    + Lots of loot.
+ After completing the campaign (30+hrs). you still have tons of fun on the Dark Zone wich has its own mechanics).
+ A game that can be played Solo or with a Group of friends.

    Cons:

    - UI could do some improvements. (Wich are coming on the 1.4 patch).
    - Unbalance on the Dark Zone. (Also coming on the patch).
    - Some secondary misions can get repetitive.
    - Had some crashes during the game that got me restarting the game.

In general terms is a very solid game made by ubisoft, got me immersed all the weekend playing and doing all the sidemissions and stuff. Tagging along with some random guys to try some difficulty missions and discovering the ruined city by myself. Watching my steps because you never know how powerfull some enemies arround the corner may be. And apreciating every detail that the developers did put on the game. 9/10.

About 12/13 hours in, game has become rather repetitive, PvE driven content is dull, PvP content can either be tough and fast paced or just repeatedly get stomped on. The story tries to deliver a realistic modern apocalypse however the bullet sponge enemies really ruin the atmosphere. Not exactly worth retail value, I personally regret my purchase at launch.

Boring and repetitive. Terrible shooting mechanics and bullet sponge enemies. This game is fun for a couple of hours, but suffers from a severe lack of variety and overly complicated controls.

The game is set in a modern time with normal individuals wearing street clothes. If the NPCs were wearing full suits of armor or were like 10 foot tall beasts, I could understand having to dump 50 bullets into a guy. But, if they're running around in a shirt and jeans, it doesn't make sense. Its trying to wear too many hats. If the combat was realistic, I think we would have a different discussion or if the higher the level the enemy, the larger or more armor they had, or if the bosses were massive like in Destiny, then the game would make sense. The graphics are gorgeous, but overall, its a piece of junk and a waste of money Expand

yes, i love the loot system (its better than destiny's) yes i like the dark zone feature but only because im good at screwing people over in game which i am not proud of. yes the graphics are DECENT and the story is DECENT from what ive played so far. but nothing stands out. there certainly are some mmorpg elements. but nothing we haven't seen before. there was potential. but the division didnt live up to the hype as alot of people will tell you. they locked three MAJOR "DLC's" behind a paywall for gods sake...the enemies are bullet sponges that take way too long to die, the cover system is clunky, the customization isnt minimal but it isnt grand either, we as a community need to stop supporting this kind of business ethic, because the companys that dont care about its people are never going to unless we say this is wrong..... See being an old school gamer, i like full games, with the addition of new content later via add on packs or paid dlc. but what i dont like is a developer locking major expansions behind a pay wall, seperating the player base. this goes against everything that a good game does. Fallout 4 (and i know im gonna get some hate for this) is an example of a good game, they gave us a full story, gave us so much content. and then went on forums and asked the player base what they wanted in the season pass that they sold at launch. see they didnt have an idea of what add ons they would include. so they asked the fans what they want to see. the division just locked three addons behind a paywall so they can get more money from people that play. its a bungie stunt all over again and we are all going to fall for it. then as soon as all of the add ons are out they are going to announce a new "the division" and make us all do it again. ubisoft is a sketchy developer and they do not have my trust as a gamer and as a consumer. they arent as bad as EA but they arent as good as FROM SOFTWARE

Amazing game, great playability, RPG system and shooter/mobility mechanics. Can't judge on the story so far, but for what I have the chance to taste it seems like it's going to tons of fun. The PvP system at the DarkZone is simply amazing, the guy that had came up with the idea should get an Oscar.

Shame on the server problems at launch but I hope Ubisoft seize the opportunity and don't

3 Years for one of the worst downgrades ever seen, repetitive, and 20 hours to get max level, that's just not worth $60. Not what was promised at all, nothing new and way too repetitive.

Before I start the review I would like to state that I achieved lvl 30 and lvl 35 dark zone prior to writing this so have played every aspect of the game.

I see from the majority of the review that they are written after only a few hours of gameplay, and division is great for the first few hours.. until you start noticing the glaring flaws. Repetitive combat against a lack of unique enemies. Higher levels shows difficulty not through strategy but by presenting bullet sponge mobs. Body collision is a huge issue throughout with a ridiculous cover system that results in the player sitting bored behind a wall playing whack-a-mole with the enemies, hitting whatever steps up from cover. Furthermore mobs hit with a shotgun or a sniper rifle continue to charge, unimpeded by damage they take, not flattering in the slightest. The same forgiveness is not given to players, who when hit with a sniper, shotgun or melee attack are either reduced to 0-10% HP, or staggered unable to recover.

Dark zone is complete **** after grinding for hours to reach lvl 30 to loot chests, a player would expect some sort of reward however the items from the shop are basic and no upgrade, and the chests that were previously locked behind a lvl wall drop low quality items. Accidentally/purposely shooting a fellow player results in a manhunt which are fun, however the risk/reward is not worth it. Surviving a manhunt will see you rewarded with about 2k dark zone credits, a loss will results in a loss of lvl, dark zone keys and about 100k dark zone credits.

The game is flawed, unpolished. Boring and repetitive with cheap and uncreative difficulty walls presented in bullet sponge enemies, or one shot mechanics from terminator style mobs who run through hell and a blaze of bullets to walk into your face and shoot you. This game is garbage, do not bother

Well, it's just generic as possible: post-apocalyptic third-person online cover shooter set in New York City - how can you get more genereric than that? The obvious huge graphical downgrade from the impressive E3 demo is also a downer.

I played the game serveral hours. But i don´t like the gameplay. The city looks very nice but I see the same looking place all over the map. The opponents look very simple. The job my char has to do is allways the same. That is boring.

It won't win converts to the genre and the plot is problematic, but The Division is a handsome open-world offering, spiked with treachery. [May 2016, p.81]

That's the essential nature, and essential problem, of The Division's underlying structure. It's asking you to hunt gear with no tangible reward in terms of what you can do, how you do it, or what you look like doing it. [May 2016, p.108]

It builds a strong foundation on the gameplay front, offering up rewarding combat and simple skills, but doesn’t follow that with anything substantial, being content to let the standard end game grind and excellent-yet-stressful PVP try to cover all the questions its writing leaves you with.
