I must admit I desperately wanted this game to be terrible. When I saw the graphical downgrades and what seemed to be at the time, highly over-exaggerated trailers I thought to myself: here we go again. Just another Watchdogs scenario. Misleading marketing for a below average game. I digress, Tom Clancy's The Division is actually really good. Set in a post-apocalyptic New York, you are a sleeper agent working for a government agency called The Division. I don't want to go to far into it for fear of spoiling it for you, but I truly feel this is a must play. Don't let the destiny comparison scare you. I totally get why Destiny has such an enormous following, but it just wasn't really what I was looking for in a game. Hell, I'm not completely sure The Division is! Needless to say I cant put it down. The city looks beautiful, the gun play is satisfying as well as the loot system. When I saw the map outline in a Gamespot video I thought it looked tiny but it is enormous. I would say maybe a third of The Witcher 3 (If you have played The Witcher then you know one third of the entire Witcher map is still massive) I know I know, just because the map is big doesn't mean the game is great, but it has depth and an all around abundance to it. There is plenty to do for at least a good month or two depending on the time you have, and that is just missions. The Dark Zone is another story. The Dark Zone is pretty much The Division's pvp mode where you mostly kill NPCs. Haha i know but surely you have heard enough about the DZ to know about what goes on. If you are wondering if you can go in alone then yes, you can. Although it's not quite as fun as going in with a couple friends whom even though you have known for years you still don't completely trust, i have gone in alone plenty of times. You make yourself an easier target but it can be done. Most players are smart enough to know it's easier on them and everyone else if they just play nice. :-) Give it a try. I know it's Ubisoft but I cant deny that the game is a lot if fun, and at times extremely intense, and in my opinion truly shines during those 20 to 30 minute fire fights. Expand

I'm pretty picky when it comes to games and i'm really enjoying this...I have 50 hours put into it and the game hasn't even been out 2 weeks at the time I am writing this. The side missions and encounters can get repetitive but the regular missions can be quite fun.

Don't listen to the haters the game is great and if you're not a power gamer that tries to blast through everything and do everything as fast as possible, there is enough content for the average person. Especially if you are into PVP.

I think it never hurts relevant apologize when one is prejudiced in advance even so having a clear history, I take care of my prejudice against ubisoft which responds me with a bang in the middle of the pear with your final product compared what he had seen in the beta.
I did not tell anyone, did not read anywhere, I checked myself with my own eyes, graphically is not the same game as the beta even remotely, lighting, textures, shadows with amazing care, the map is cargadísimo, objects and details everywhere you look everything is alive, nothing is the same every corner has its identity, is incredible immersion, the huge difference to walk in the tunnels entering a desolate building or walk through the mythical streets of new york, is an epic map where you look as if this were not enough talk about that we can share online if better friends undoubtedly feel that're there for something that every step you take is up to you and you can not be alone and you'll always have to walk in groups.
All this in a context of apocalyptic plot, abandonment and decided where to walk at night is not for everyone.
Addictive gameplay with mechanical, weapons details and finishes that border on perfection, completely successful system coverage, the divison is for frantic, for tactical, to stealthy, covers all kinds of possibilities and tastes .The weapons feel alive each meets their function and are distinct.
We do not enter the dark zone the queen of the house according to all, I do not want to imagine what it must be that go to the suburvios to fight for items and other things with your group should be simply epic.
I could find failing at least for now in some missions that still seem to me meh based on the context in which it develops, but this is long and does not affect gameplay.
The fact of intertwining story development and online is tremendous.
Downgrade? if and so I was very critical for this too, but we who can deny what they accomplished, it nextgen is not only the graphic look, it is also able to enter every corner of the city and that nothing resembles another you've been, that each rincon has as its object the cycle change is strong in lighting and immersion, almost human movements agent when walking.
No doubt it is impossible to believe that with his background ubisoft us like product, I still can not believe it, and in this case noblesse oblige as the title tells you again ask forgiveness ubisoft this is a great game!

This game is not a Destiny killer. This game is not a Destiny replacement. Comparisons to Destiny are pointless. You can spend all day wind bagging, but apples are apples and oranges are oranges.

This game is also terribly misunderstood. This game is not a MMORPG. It is an RPG and there are MMO aspects, but this game is really a VERY strong story driven single player game with co-op aspects. If you think of the Dark Zone more like Uncharted's multiplayer (a feature not the game/story) then you will enjoy this game immensely.

This game is first and foremost a Tom Clancy game. What that means is there is a lot of story! There is the Agent Origin's video on Amazon (almost 30 minutes long). There is the companion book (part of it is in game, but the book drives home the atmosphere and feeling). There is also all the echos, phone messages, incident reports, crashed drones, etc. in game. Some may see that as a collectible grind, but unlike other Ubi IP these collectibles enhance and tell more of the story.

It is utterly mind boggling that people are already at the end game and complaining and they have no idea what most of the story is. People 5x more powerful than I currently am have no idea what is going on. They are just running around and shooting. To each his own I guess.

Now that the groundwork is out of the way onto the technical review.

10/10 graphics - The game is pretty. Slightly reminiscent of Watch Dogs, but very pretty. It may not be pushing the envelope, but the level of detail and weather is great.
8/10 Control - Since this is a cover driven game the controls can be a bit dicey. You character can get stuck on stuff and evasive maneuvers can be a little rough. More than once I meant to roll out of cover to dodge a grenade and I ended up stuck to cover or rolling closer to the grenade. Nothing that can be patch fixed though.
9/10 story - A damn fine story. Not quite Witcher level, but it has tons of meat.
8/10 audio - The soundtrack is nice and it isn't playing all the time. Mostly just gunshots.

My biggest complaint with this game is that though it is an RPG the whole loot mechanism is a bit off. At times I think it would be easier to just scrap the loot and just spend even more focus on the story rather than getting a epic gun.

Lastly, the quests can be a bit repetitive even if the characters are different. A bit more voice over on the encounters instead of recycling the same sound track as well as more variety on the side missions. Each area has four side missions and they are basically supply/mercy drop, hunt down a baddie, etc. A little more thought would have been nice.

I cannot wait for incursions and to see what else the season pass will bring. Certianly worth the money IMHO. My only other request is that it has an end or at least this chapter closes. MMOs are not so great and the story starts to flop.

    RPG aspect

Excellent and very clever design. The classes aren't set in stone, you can easily switch to Heals, Tank and DPS freely which means you don't have to create too many alts. The Character Creator was a total bummer especially for this genre of game. I end up looking like 3 of my friends (I'm Asian btw, the stereotype of us looking alike. THE IRONY!!) You either have a choice between Asian, Afro American, Hispanic or middle age white guy...or ugly butch women with short hair.

The loot drops are SOOOO much better than Destiny. You will be upgrading gear nearly every time you complete any missions. Fetch quests are no longer, you just complete missions get the gear and rewards straight away.

    Shooter aspect

Totally 3rd person and again its RPG style. Head shots, although does more damage doesn't kill enemies straight away. FPS fans, might be turned away from this. Bosses are bullet sponges yet your team will need to use good strategy to bring them down eg. suppression fire, stun grenades. My only drawback is that there's no prone or crouch position and sneak.

    Story and Gameplay

Story to me is pretty linear with good voice acting. The environment is top notch. Gunfire echoes down the empty streets, enemies shouting instructions making Combat really intense. AI can be a bit inconsistent. Times they flank you on both sides with shotguns and baseball bats, other times they climb on top of a car where they become a sitting duck.

Co Op and Dark Zone PvP

The Co Op I have no problems whatsoever. Still a fresh game, won't have a problem finding crews. As simple as choosing 'Open' and watch players jump in your game straight to the action.

The Dark Zone is a new approach to PvP. You can either work as a team with other players to kill AI with high end gear or you can choose to go 'Rogue' and hunt down fellow human players and steal their loot but get punished more when you get killed. Any loot gathered can't be used unless extracted by chopper which makes the gameplay exciting yet stressful as you need to defend the extraction for about 2min from AI and human scavengers who will try to kill you at the very end and steal your loot. I find this an awesome way of PvP. It's not perfect yet but I think it will improve especially with the upcoming DLC.

Overall, I love this game. Although they are 2 very different games, The Division did their research on Destiny's many flaws and came up trumps.

I give it a 9 praising gameplay, multiplayer, graphics and sound.

    - 1 for the Character Creation as I found it very limited especially for a game with strong RPG features.

Combat is fun and challenging, and does not seem repetitive or tedious because of the difficulty of taking down some enemies and the variety of weapon types/mods. Co-op is a great feature that is especially fun once you've already cleared an area on your own and want to replay it again with others- or I guess if you can't seem to complete a mission on your own. I've only tried the pvp dark zone once and it was tough going in there so I think I'll level up a bit more and find some players to join me first before returning.

Graphics are impressive and simply beautiful, and for the people knocking them, I guess you weren't around to play NES or Super Nintendo, when it wasn't perfect looking but just fun (though in comparison, The Division is perfect looking). Honestly, the game looks amazing.

Well, Ubisoft have done it!! Very impressive, immersive gameplay, with good PvP integration. No issues with servers or lag and all the bugs discovered in Beta have been rectified. I am in love with this game already! The longevity of the game looks good, bolstered by the fact that 3 new missions/DLC maps will be released. All in all, I believe this truly is the Destiny killer!!

I fell for the destiny hype, it wasn't even that the story lacked but the replayability to earn new gear to bring into multiplayer bored me.

Thankfully, ubisoft have in no way hyped this game to the same level as Bungie did for Destiny. I have played several hours of this game so far and I can honestly say its worth its money.

The graphics are great, unlike the linear levels of destiny I am in New York with many a pathway to my objective. I can run into random events or decide to follow a side mission instead of the one I originally chose. I can find a random apartment block that has intel inside of back history and new gear hidden in its rooms. The skyline looks beautiful and I really do feel like I am in the game at times.

Weapons/Customisation - Brilliant. Such a variety that I can loot or buy and customise. I grew bored of Star Wars Battlefront for its lack of cusomisation. One thing that keeps me playing a multiplayer is changing aspects of my weapon to take a different approach. All of these cusomisations as expected effect the gun you are choosing and also change its look. A big thing to touch on is obviously the perks/attributes/talents. I have only started exploring this area but again the variety of choice I have read into is great. Want to heal your team singplayer or multiplayer then explore the medic side....want to be badass and take a shield with a pistal to flank the enemy then go right ahead. These are just the firs two perks for me - many more exist and can be altered to again change your approach. Not only this but the constant look of gear to change what my character wears is an added bonus.

Story wise I haven't came across anything worthy of an award but that does not mean its sh*t either. I helped rescue a friends lost sister and defeated a group of maniacs trying to storm the bridge. What I did find cool was that after completing one of these missions I was shown a feed from a police car camera that showed them being murdered by a massive group of bad F%@Ks and it was marked on my map to investigate.

I havent even touched into the darkzone yet but I did play the BETA and it convinced me to buy this game. I grouped up with two random guys for over an hour and tried taking on other groups in the streets of new york. Not only this but I knew at any point I could turn on one of them to steal their loot or just pick on a random guy who had spawned into the city. For me on a console I have never played a multiplayer that offers that choice. For example I did go rogue and stole a guys hard earned goods however how do we know he hadnt turned rogue to earn them himself? Also the tension as I waited for the helicopter to escort my goods out was brilliant. I kept thinking who else is going to try and take what I stole from him or is he going to come back to get me. As well as this I remember going rogue to a high level and having all players in that area designated to hunt me down and it truely did result in a great experience. The variety and replayability factors are all there so get the game.

But let me say one thing... I OFTEN spend $60 on a game and after beating it in a week I'm disappointed and burnt out. This game has enough depth and the crucial EXCELLENT co-op in their 26 missions to be worth my 60 bucks alone.

Well done, Ubisoft. I used to love Rainbow Six 1-2, and avoided siege like the plague when I realized it didn't have the same mount-up system. This game brings back memories of my glory days. Now give me something akin to terrorist hunt mode (survival expansion?!) and I'm golden.

    Cons:
Some encounters can be repetitive (but you always get different loot), non-mission enemies (encounter or free roam AI enemies), enemy dialog is repetitive (not that big of an issue, just some feedback)

    Tips:
Don't rush while you play. Explore the map to find hidden loot. Play the main missions on hard. Team up with people on main missions and in the DZ. Don't pay too much mind to negative reviews or think of past games, try it out yourself! This game is very enjoyable!

There are however some things to consider before running out to buy this game.

First off its not a FPS! This game does not play like an FPS it doesn't have the same pace as an FPS and the set of skills required to play it are completely differant.

Secondly, this game doesn't give you the story on a plate. Many Games are in the habbit of giving you all the story on an easy to follow part one leads to part two system and though you can go from story mission to story mission this only gives you the bere bones of the story (A little like Destiny except with no web page), by collecting items and doing side missions you get all the back story which make the story more interesting.

Thirdly this is an RPG, meaning higher lv enemies will take more damage. This shocked a lot of people when playing The division as it can make the game unrealistic but understand RPG's with one shot head kills don't work.

The last thing to think about before deciding if this game is for you or not, is its an MMO and like many MMO's you do get people who just want to be a jerk to everyone else, fortunately for myself i've only come across this one or twice and both times i just logged out and back in and continued to play on a server with no jerks.

Now the game it's self, I think this is one of the best games i've played this year (true it is early). As i've mentioned if we keep in mind the type of game it is and the level of work gone into this its just stunning. The graphics are amazing even after the infamous down grade and the lesser mentioned lighting upgrade. The sound is solid and the game play though diffrent is ace. This is a game that has changes the normal practices of how we play, for example, the difficulty levels in missions aren't geared towards leveling you up faster but more towards returning at later game to receive better loot.

Over all i think its a well balanced game that has been adjusted to avoid the normal pitfalls that MMO's fall into in the late game areas.

I give the game a 9 because i do feel its had a few server issues and at this stage i can't give a 10 un-till that's fixed. Hope this helped.
    Peace out.

I'm not going to say it's a perfect game, because it is not. We play games to have fun and to forget about the outside world, and this game totally accomplishes that.

It is highly recommended that you have a group of 3-4 players the entire time you play. That's what makes the game so much fun. A lot of people have railed against this game due to repetitive gameplay and I'm not sure I understand why. Missions typically have varied goals that are achieved by generally shooting enemies in your way. If you think that's repetitive, you're in the wrong genre. In a game about shooting, people shoot things and get shot at. One reviewer commented on a lack of feedback from the guns, if you shoot someone, you get markers and sfx for headshots. What more do they want? Balloons and confetti?

Additionally, the most unique design in this whole game is the Dark Zone. This is a free-for-all, pvp, loot fest where players are going to have some great stories to tell from their first excursion. In short, the Dark Zone is a place where players can go (in a group or on their own) to hunt the most desirable loot in the game. Other players roam the zone with you and can either help you kill enemies or kill you. This builds a huge atmosphere of suspense to this already intense zone.

    Build-It-Up:
    - Solid gunplay
    - Beautiful graphics
    - Great teamwork
    - Cool mechanics
    - In-the-moment character customization
    - Rewarding loot cycle
    - The Dark Zone
    - Atmosphere is incredible

    Break-It-Down
    - Missions could use more guidance (a little TOO much freedom)
    - Character customization is weak (better than Destiny or any other shooter but not quite RPG territory)
    - Gun sfx are weird
    - Latency issues can happen

The game is very fun and has a great social aspect to it. The PvE definitely mode is great fun with friends. The main story line missions can be played on 3 levels- Normal, Hard and Challenging. Each mode gives you greater gear toward your progression of being the ultimate agent. I do wish that there were more of a populated PvE world with other players running around. in the current state of writing this review, It's either you alone or with a group of invited friends.

The Dark Zone (PvPvE) is a great test of one's abilities. Not only do you need to watch out for mobs (AI enemy), but you also need to watch for the rogue agent that is hellbent on taking your loot or griefing you while in a firefight and your health is low. They come right behind you and blast you a few times, take your loot and you respawn without the loot you acquired while in the Dark Zone and lost some DZ xp, DZ currency and DZ lock box keys.

I was a bit disappointed at the fact they downgraded the graphics but that is pretty minor. The current environment is immersive, fantastic and almost true to NYC (I grew up there).

There are some reviews that many of the missions are repetitive and that is true. This is a great foundation and while we all would love variety like GTA5, we definitely can see great things that can be made going forward. I have played on the PS4 console and haven't had many issues with frame rates. I moved the settings to make it more appealing and haven't seen much of a draw down on system resources.

They could make your protagonist (character) better by including dialogue and not just sit there like a boob while others talk to you. The lack of voice script or show of emotions wedges a barrier between the player and their connection to the playable character. It is like Destiny where your character is the silent type that everyone talks to, but you don't respond. I am not trying to sway people in either way about this game. It's a great game that has the frame work of a dynastic RPG style game. I believe with careful consideration, listening to the players and making adjustments to develop a sense of connection of the player to the character, this game can be a benchmark raising game.

I'm taking my time with the story missions, side missions, collecting Intel and venturing into the dark zone and so far I am having a great time playing this game solo and with a buddy.

The story puts you in realistic setting where a virus outbreak has occurred and you, as a division agent are required to find out what happen and restore order. Besides a gripping story the collectable Intel is massively detailed and gives a great back story leading up to the outbreak and the activities which have occurred during the first 2 weeks of the virus spreading and the collapse of the city.

I've read other reviews giving a 1 or 2 / 10 for graphics due to a graphical downgrade but a review should be based on the game at launch and as the graphics stand they are simple amazing and do not warrant negative reviews.

As a cover base RPG shooter you need to take cover and think tactically for every fight how you are going to take down the enemies, this is not a run 'N' gun game. There are lots of perks, abilities and talents to choose from to make your character play to your game style. Yes there is "bullet sponging" which takes away from the realistic setting but for a RPG its universally known you need to level up and get better equipment to deal with those tougher enemies, this does not take away the enjoyment of the game.

The Division has MMO elements, you can either invite your friends to your group and tackle story missions together or advance into the dark zone, which is a PvP area. The dark zone can provide a player with mixed emotions and a different experience each time you enter. When you enter you don't know if you will be attacked by a rogue player while trying to extract some loot, or being helped to take down a boss. The game offers matchmaking as well if you do not have friends who have the game.

Pros = Graphics, Co-op, gameplay, loot, customization, crafting.
Cons = Some mission repetitiveness, Always-online is required.

So, I picked up a copy of the division on release day (I had a special edition pre-ordered) and after waiting in all day I managed to get on it on Tuesday night at 7pm.

I’ve hit it pretty hard over the last few days and have been very impressed by it thus far and I would recommend it to those that enjoy cover based shooters (think GRAW and gears of war). As par the course for an RPG there’s plenty of elements that will get people addicted.

The gun play is excellent, with very realistic gun designs, recoil and sound effects (something the Tom Clancy games have been excellent at since they started). However, I would question the ‘real’ distance them flamethrowers the cleaners use can reach!

The city is visually excellent, and the weather effects are amazing. From a bright sunny day where you can see blocks away, to a blizzard which reduces visibility to near zero, making it harder to not get ambushed, is fantastic.

Multiplayer is seemless with no loading screens after the original match making loading. Working with a team of mates is where this game comes to life. When you do team up, there are more enemies and are tougher as well which is cool and requires more tactics from the group than to just run and shoot. for an added chllenge try replaying missions with some mates on hard difficulty, its insane!

The fabled ‘trades’ of ‘tank’, ‘healer’ and ‘DPS’ have been included but in such a way that it feels seemless. Each player gains access to all talents when levelling up, and can be switched at any point to suit any situation. Having different selections for each player helps though! The amount of emphasis to each ‘trade’ is added to by the gear you wear and is staple to how you craft and keep the loot you have won from encounters and missions. It feels very well rounded thus far.

I ventured into the Dark Zone alone, which is the main PVP area, however I misread the level requirement and got smashed before I got 100 metres in, but I did see someone trying to extract the gear they got whislt exploring the dark zone, and they got ambushed by NPCs and some players were looking on waiting to pick it up should he die (its everyman for themselves in there!). i have since been in with some mates and it was an absolute balst. Totally different to the main game, you have to survie trying to get loot, then survive further when extratcing loot, its great!

All in all, great game. I can see myself spending some serious time on this!

People compare it to Destiny, which is incorrect as it’s a different type of game. Destiny was for all intents and purposes an arcade shooter; the division isnt. you need to use your cover and think about the fights not just run in! There was also no story with destiny (they could tell you the story but they don’t have time……) to which I need in a game. The division stands on its own and hopefully its longevity will be ensured by the DLC that’s due to come out.

This game reminds me of Fallout 4 with looting, weapons and gear customization. Different areas provide better gear and weapons loot which is a great part of the game and very vast due to the amount of loot throughout the game. The Dark zone is also a great addition to the game which provides the best loot but hardest fights throughout the game, also you will have a separate ranking system for the Dark Zone than your normal game rank which provides a new feel to the game even after several hours into it. However, during my time playing the game the AI has been somewhat buggy, meaning I would be in a battle and enemies will run right into the open and just take my bullets. This does not happen all the time just sometimes. Ultimately, the division is a fantastic game and apart from the buggy AI sometime I would consider it being a 10/10. Expand

I am running it on PC with a top of the line Geforce 980 ti and I am getting close to 60fps at 4k. Everything in the game from characters to textures to weapons to the scenery are stunning. The amount of effort put into the detail blows me away. If you can afford to upgrade to a 4k experience this game makes it worthwhile.

Game play is solid, shooting is fun and the weapons are varied and customization is a blast. Crafting is good, base building adds a nice element and the world is fun to explore. There is a deep storyline that many players may rush past but it's worth it to try to figure out what happened around you and prior to your entry into post-apocalyptic NYC.

Downsides are that it does get a bit repetitive and comparisons to early days Destiny are not off base. I wonder how long I will stay interested in exploring the same city with somewhat repetitive mission structures. I haven't played a lot of multiplayer and I suspect I will have to to have a real chance at surviving the Dark Zone. I tend to stick to PvE but with The Division you pretty much have to join up to experience the entire game.

I sort of hate that DLC is just a given in today's world and that this is really only what, a third of the eventual game? I can afford the $100 entry fee so I'll go with it and see how I like it after the level 30 cap.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Just like Destiny you need to give this game a chance. I believe the additional content, updates and fixes to the servers will make this one of the best MMO hybrid RPG's to date. For now its kind of a rocky start. For some reason Uplay has issues with online games. Assassins Creed Unity was a good example. Great vision and idea but ended up going south due to the ongoing problems with the servers. Games need to move in this direction; Online campaigns and missions in an open world, playing with your friends like a dungeon crawl with a boss at the end and plenty of loot, customizations and items to collect on the way feels right. The Division's graphics are up to par, some lag during battles when things get crazy. The story gets lost at times and you really are not that interested. But at least they attempt to integrate a story into an MMO kudos for that. Looking forward to the future as I did purchase the gold package with the season pass. Hopefully Uplay has some tricks under there sleeve otherwise it may be a bust. I have faith the game will get better. So far a good fun game looking forward to all the improvements and what could be one of the best games this year. As of now the game gets an 8.0 but looks like it could move to a 10 hopefully soon. Roughly having around 100+ hours into this game I can simply say that I can't put the controller down. I have had my fair share from grinding my levels, to the pure satisfaction of the end game this game has. I've loved every second of it and still just think about how there are three expansions still to come to this game. In the beginning of the game you will find yourself sent out to the streets of New York to rain justice, you will be playing from main story missions, to side missions, and doing many encounters which will help you upgrade your base. From the missions and encounters I honestly have seen so much more of a RPG aspect to this game which I really didn't expect. I actually catch myself getting pulled into the story, with many different feelings and just wanting to deliver one thing... Justice. The combat I find very appealing, I love the challenge. While playing the game you learn a lot more about the combat and how to improve. The gear is ever evolving, doesn't matter beginning or end game, you will always find yourself upgrading your character. Some might say "of course you will its a loot based shooter." and that I agree with, it is a loot based shooter but one that I find did it right. I've been a fan of Destiny for a while now and the same with that, its a loot based shooter but it doesn't give you the initiative to upgrade your character because you will find yourself grinding for hours just to get a engram, that "might" upgrade your character. In The Division this aspect is developed very well and throws tons of loot at you, some not upgrading your stats but others can greatly. Don't get me wrong, there is still a lot of grinding to do for end game from farming phoenix credits, or superior and High-End gear. I find the combat promising, from moving to cover to cover to stay safe and not just being able to rush in without a punishment. Only the Division agents who learn to adapt to their environment and the type of play style will be rewarded with some of the best gear when it comes down to challenging mode. I love the challenge, it's not necessarily "easy" but it does have a skill gap to learn before diving into all the game has to offer. One of my favorite parts about the game is undoubtedly the Dark Zone. This is one of the best features of this game, I love the idea of collecting gear and having to extract it while knowing you could be hunted down by a rogue agent the next second. It keeps you on your toes especially with the rewards, from superior, to getting High-End drops. I do think the game has flaws though, but not major ones. They need to add better rewards for going rogue so more people do it instead of one person being rogue and everyone hunting them down. The game also has multiple minor bugs with visual stat problems, from seeing one number change to another (thankfully doesn't affect the actual stats) which can be very frustrating at times but really not that big of a problem. I've seen my friends glitch through the map and get stuck underground but not very often. While looking at a lot of the reviews on this website I do want to say that this game surely doesn't deserve a "0" or anything lower than a 8. These people don't play the game until end game or they just don't know how to specify a game as a considerably good game. While I understand people have their own opinions at least tell us why you think its bad in detail instead of just giving it a beyond low score that isn't realistic. With expansions, loot trading, raids, and much more soon to come I can easily see this game as one of the better titles for this year without a doubt. If you'd like to add me on PSN to join me in the depths of the Dark Zone on the search for High-Ends or farming dailies, feel free, like your division agent. PSN: SoticRaVaGe.

A review of Tom Clancy's: The Division on PS4

The majority of the game takes place in New York City's Borough of Manhattan “In the midst of a smallpox like pandemic that the public dubs the “Green Poison”. The Virus has left the cities first response service organizations in ruin. The Government of the United States has no other Choice but to activate sleeper agents within the city know as THE DIVISION to assist with what is left of the emergency response teams know collectively as the Joint Task Force or JTF to help rebuild and maintain order within the now quarantined districts of Manhattan. Your mission as a division agent is to take back the city at all cost. Not only do the members of The Division and JTF have to fight the spreading Epidemic but several gangs have risen from the ashes of what is left. Rioters… Rikers … and Cleaners are all fighting for Rule and Power over the new free territory.

    Sights and Sound

The Voice acting and music come second to the sounds of combat and constant firefights in the distance. The sounds of explosions and bullet hail are the real sound track to this game. With a full armory of weaponry ranging from booming close quarter shotguns to long range sniper rifles that rip the air all have their own unique sounds. Many of the weapons can be modified with muzzle attachments to give a weapon a new voice but still one of its own. Any music that can be heard after completing a hard fought mission was for me drowned out by the escaping sounds of war leaving my ears and in its place a strange calm that quickly becomes forgotten and feels foreign upon the fire of the first shots of engagement.
Visually the City's architecture remains intact for the most part but the streets are littered with vehicles and check points torn apart and left abandoned, wandering vagrants which once made up the working class along with an equal number of animals scavenging and fighting their own battles to stay alive now populate the streets. The city can be navigated using a convenient and easy to read in game map and way point system. A nice feature to see was that every street still had its own name and on the corner its respective street sign. A really nice touch for those who notice small details. In the same respect for detail The environment of the Division is constantly changing with its regular day and night cycles but having token place approaching Christmas time harsh you will notice winter weather conditions. In a moments noticed clear sky’s can become overcast and cloudy then change to a light flurry and even pick up to blizzard storm conditions impairing visibility and making the navigation process a little bit harder.

Game play Elements – Shooter/ RPG / MMO

The Division is a mash up of different Genres. Third person Shooter, Single player RPG, and MMO style RPG. The game try’s to take the best aspects of each while leaving the bad behind to create its own unique game play style. In terms of being a shooter. It does well establishing a proficient cover to cover system as well as manual cover and maneuver while aiming over the shoulder. Although Manually staying in cover becomes tricky as there is no crouch or prone positions, the cover to cover system becomes more efficient in most cases to use. A nice feature for me, being a fan of third person aspect games, was the ability to aim over Either shoulder, moving the camera to my other shoulder when I wanted to peer around a corner or doorway opposite the default. Surprisingly many third person games forget to add that option. The gun play is excellent and hit boxes respond well. Every gun has its own recoil pattern and rise that can be master and duplicated through keen observation and slight movements of the toggle stick to keep the majority of shots on target.
As an Rpg the division does well keeping the progression of the leveling system rewarding and exciting enough to grind the repetitive side missions that in my opinion are short, easy, and quick enough to complete that the repetitive aspect can be over looked. Many of the side missions also reward players credits to put towards their perks, talents, and abilities so “grinding them out” or completing everything in the area should be more enjoyable and challenging then returning to a low level area with a high level character. As I mentioned the perk, talent and ability trees coincide with a credit system where the credits are rewarded for completing side missions and main story missions that also result in you restoring order to the city, rebuilding the infrastructure and returning control the united states government. Along with the different skill trees a great deal of focus was spent on the progressive loot system. Upon reaching higher levels the players character will have the opportunity to equip stronger weapons and armor that he or she finds through out the game either via loot drop, safe house vendors, or even a crafting system. The crafting system is simple as materials are found readily available scattered though the game or weapons and gear can be deconstructed instead of sold to create base materials that can then be crafted into equipment better suited to your level and play style. Along with finding better equipment a player will also find different articles of clothing that can be equipped to change the aesthetic look of the player which is a nice feature if you like to be especially different, stand out, or even create something of a uniform you and your friends wear to tell each other apart in the Dark Zone.

    MMO and the Dark Zone

The massive multilayer online genre really only comes into play upon entering the Dark Zone. The Dark Zone is a quarantined area within the quarantined city… Unlike the rest of the cities districts that are pve and only populated by you and your invited squad members as well as NPCs, The dark zone is the area where every player roams freely amongst enemies of super and elite status with higher armor and damage ratings. The dark zone is a free for all to any player that decides to enter, within these walls any player can engaged another player in combat. All loot that is gathered here most go through a decontamination process as there are higher levels of the virus here, before your able to equip it. When you want to extract gear you have to go to an extraction zone where a helicopter will come grab your new loot, decontaminate, and place it into your stash box. This is where the dark zone gets tricky because players will try to kill for your dark zone loot as your player will drop it upon being killed and any other player can pick it up. In my personal experience a lot of players will try and kill you right as your placing your dark zone loot bag onto the helicopter rig as your are defenseless for about 5 seconds during this action. The dark zone also has its own leveling system and while inside you will only earn dark zone exp and dark zone credits which reward players with the option to buy from dark zone vendors as well as open dark zone loot crates.

    My opinion of the game.

If your interested and wondering whether its actually worth 60$. Go get this game, IT IS. I've had so much fun playing this game and feel like its worth every penny as a gamer. The match making system is really easy to use. I have had no issues with joining my friends for PVE or PVP. And video games are always so much better with online interaction because situations will never play out the exact same way between online play. I’ve only run into one bug where I couldn’t enter A door to a stairway leading to another door but I could scale the side of the building so the stairwell wasn't even needed. There are a lot of great features that have been implemented to making this game stand out from other shooters rpgs and mmos that give it its own very unique feel. As far of replay ability in the traditional sense I don’t see a need to remake another character outside of changing sex or race as all the skills trees are completly unlock-able in one play through. But I feel as long as they create content monthly which is what I’ve been told would happen. When its comes to the life span of this game its really up to the dlc dev teams, because with new content comes new adventures...

It does need it's fixes. Like, maybe rather than fixing the loot drop rates they can focus on the glitches. Tired of trying to check out my accessories and cannot because my player is just a black silhouette. Tired of falling threw the maps. Tired of getting caught on invisible walls. So why a 9?
Few things missing in the game which may or may not be fixed going forward with DLC and tweaks.
-Levels are massive and detailed and feel a touch empty at times regarding things to do. Fallout did this better somehow with more loot stashed in more places and more explore-able area's.
-For an RPG the story really feels lacking, why am I in the city, what am I doing, what's my end goal. It just needs more love. If the user isn't going to speak, take some notes from HL2. If he is going to speak look at Mass Effect to see how this is simply done better in both cases.
-Could use a bit better explanation of skills, talents, leveling, weapon stats, consumables. By the time I hit level 15 the game was half over and I'm only finally understanding how everything works. Maybe this is part of the fun but I've seen this done better many times eg. Mass Effect series.

The end game content is thin thus far but its not non existent, for those who lean towards grindy games then this is for you and the end game will keep you interested for sure while you chase that next piece of high end loot.

Let me start off by saying I am loving the game. I got to level 30 a while back and I'm not rank 33 in the dark zone and do the dailies everyday. The end game content is thin thus far but its not non existent, for those who lean towards grindy games then this is for you and the end game will keep you interested for sure while you chase that next piece of high end loot. Combat is satisfying enough that it keeps the grind interesting. I will admit that pre lvl 30 the grind is fairly monotonous (but once again is you enjoy the grind as I do this should be no issue) but once you get to lvl 30 and start getting some good gear the game because far more challenging (if you want it to be). You can hope into daily challenge modes which are daily missions that have pretty eye watering difficulty at times but are ultimately incredibly satisfying if you team up with friends and coordinate well. Similarly if you want more of a challenge you can hope into the dark zone which is the PvE/PvP area of the game. This is the area where your gear grind will be most bountiful but beware other agents are roaming around aswell and they have the option to kill you if they think that you have loot that they want. Rogue agents in the dark zone are rare however as going rogue is very high risk and very low reward in most cases (something massive might tweak in the future). Teaming up with friends and grinding the dark zone or challenge mode makes this game infinitely better, I would say similar to destiny its not a game you can play alone and get the full value out of.

As for Massive (the developers) I think they have done a great job thus far. A lot of developers/publishers of AAA games will develop and ship their game and then forget about it but massive have already showed that they are invested in the game and are committed to ongoing improvement of the game. They have already shown to be responsive to the growing reddit community for the game. They have laid out a one year plan of new content, the first of which is a free update which appears to be introducing raid like missions to the game. I think that the division is a game that one can only true judge at the end of the year when all of Massive's plans have finally come to fruition

I'll finish how I started. If you like destiny or diablo then odds are you will love the division. The game is all about that dank loot grind so please ignore the people complaining the game is too grindy, the game isn't for everyone but as a loot grinding game is been pretty damn good thus far and the future looks even brighter for the division

Addicting gameplay and the dark zone in pretty fun . Graphics are good as well some glitches but in reality . Game is more fun than frustrating. Most people who are rating it low just dont know how to play this game . The stats and weapons customization is great as well as crafting.

The cover system is intuitive and robust at the same time. The crafting is not as deep as say Fallout 4, but it is there and that is pretty cool. The multiplayer is fun and challenging and fresh, nothing like what I have ever played before. The reward system, although still using it a little, is not overly dependent on RNG like some other games I have been playing...

My only complaint has to do with the way that mission difficulty gets bumped up to match the rank of the highest person in a squad. If I am a lvl 12 doing a lvl 12 mission and my lvl 20 friends drop in, I am now about to get destroyed and one shot for the next hour while they get to play my mission. I think I understand why they did it, to keep people from power leveling their friends too quickly. However, it seems like there should have been some sort of middle ground like bump up the difficulty by three levels above what it was rated at. IDK something to make it still playable for the host who just happened to be part of an active clan.

Overall, this has to be one of the more ambitious titles out there right now. My only concern is Ubisoft supporting the game and making it a long standing franchise. I am hoping they will but a global pandemic in the real world does not have quite the creative freedom as say Assassins Creed (thousands of years of history to work with) or Destiny (entirely a work of fiction). I'm hoping this franchise does well and keeps going for years. It's off to a great start.

After a night of playing it (only a few hours) i was disappointed in the splitscreen only being what it was, since i thought it was like bots from cod and walker assault, etc. Anyway, i took it back the next day, and even though my nephews weren't too happy, i got the division. Now, i have heard some bad things about it being very repetitive, and being like Destiny, but... i love Destiny! The beginning was a bit slow, but i got 'back into it' and remembered everything from the beta. The graphics are pretty good (1080p vs 900p for battlefront i think) there WERE a few little lags where it might stop or skip, or dialogue cut out, but the gameplay was awesome. I am still a pretty low lvl, and have been busy only to play some of the story, and a little dz, but have enjoyed it. Playing alone can get a little boring, but the matchmaking is great, and the dz is something creative, and reminds me a little of a scaled down Arma or something, and i am glad i took back battlefront. I don't want to smash battlefront, but for 60 bucks, even 40 bucks, you aren't getting much, and i will probably buy it if it either lets you do offline multiplayer, or is like 20 bucks. Also, many people are butthurt about political views in this game, and being right wing, but you need to remember, many other games (hardline) blatantly bash conservatives, and no one said anything about that, so you guys hatin this game because a little politics need to just shut up and enjoy it. So, yes, i would recommend this to anyone who wants to enjoy a fun sorta mmorpg that is also tactical, and fun solo, and even better in a group. also, i don't even care for 3rd person, but this game is an exception! If you liked Destiny at launch, there's a strong chance you'll like this. Maybe even more...
This game has stronger RPG mechanics than Destiny yet the environment is extremely bland and unappealing to me. I strongly recommend to play this game with your friends. With more content and dark zone refinements this game will easily get an 8 or above from me.

The dark zone is a really depressing place, I though. My squad agreed. We picked through what remained, spared the other players who strayed into our lines of sight and made to the extraction with a really nice haul. We bated our time and waited for the helicopter to fly in and drop our only means of securing our new toys. I waited for the clock to drop and then I stroke. Kicking the only member of our squad that we had picked up at random and robbing his carcass of anything he worked hard to collect. We divided it up, extracted, and then went our separate ways. It still feels like I left some small part of my soul back there, on the snow covered LZ where myself and two friends led our new buddy to the slaughter after spending an hour fattening him up loot.

So I put it on youtube with some funny sound effects to make myself feel better, and we went about repeating the process.

    God, I love this game.

    Pros:
+ Incredible details not just on the graphics, but on the sound. It has a dynamic night/day cycle, and even climate cycle.
+ Details to the minimum. You can hear the echo that makes a dog and a pigeon when flying on a snowy street, people fighting over food, dogs pissing and living their day, baggage bags stacked on the corridors of abbandoned buildings, and one thing that personally liked a lot that got me immersed, when doing sidequests i got into this IT building, and saw at guy desk, a picture of his wife and daughters at Paris.
+ Fun campaign and story, the one that you go completing by getting the audios, drones, and stuff arround the map.
+ Fun gameplay. You can craft, fight, personalize your character and gear.
    + Lots of loot.
+ After completing the campaign (30+hrs). you still have tons of fun on the Dark Zone wich has its own mechanics).
+ A game that can be played Solo or with a Group of friends.

    Cons:

    - UI could do some improvements. (Wich are coming on the 1.4 patch).
    - Unbalance on the Dark Zone. (Also coming on the patch).
    - Some secondary misions can get repetitive.
    - Had some crashes during the game that got me restarting the game.

In general terms is a very solid game made by ubisoft, got me immersed all the weekend playing and doing all the sidemissions and stuff. Tagging along with some random guys to try some difficulty missions and discovering the ruined city by myself. Watching my steps because you never know how powerfull some enemies arround the corner may be. And apreciating every detail that the developers did put on the game. 9/10.

New York looks stunning, even in the decrepit state after the Virus. Your main guy can be customised, but most ppl look the same. However this rarely makes a difference as were not here on a modelling shoot !!

weapons and added gear is spot on and levels up with you, and the DLC is fantastic, and it shows the developers have taken time to correct any problems and errors.
Even though, im still playing it, were still getting add ons, DLC and patches and its s till a lot of fun.
Dark Zone can be a pain, but it asks you to take the risk, and the gear sets can be notoriously hard to get, but still, its enjoyable and best played with friends, to make the most of all the abilities and perks and talents.

having everyone as a medic is rarely enjoyable.
get your medic, cover enhancement, couple of turrets and explosive grenades going, and your a force to be reckoned with.

After Destiny, which a few ppl are comparing this to, i find this far more enjoyable, and im still sticking with it. Destiny just came and passed me by, and hardly as much fun to play, and seemed far more repetitive, where as this game knows what it is, and doesnt spawn the same DLC over and over, asking to dress up even better, ooooh .
sorry, bit of a rant then

Pros: the environments are not half bad - graphics wise, not the best but in terms of displaying a dilapidated Manhattan, I think it is pretty spot on in terms of what comes to mind. Coop can be super intense - with the right people working together, every key story mission and (especially) Dark Zone exploration is jampacked with enjoyment and adrenaline because it does encourage legitimate cooperation to get things done. Story - while not the most original in many senses, it does fulfill what Tom Clancy novels/games are known for, making it feel like a lot is on the line and manifests itself in an eerily plausible occurrence in the realm of Biowarfare. Customization - the game does have a lot to offer to make sure most people find what type of fighter they would be, be it a rusher with a shotgun or a crit hitting SMG or one who stays back to pick people off with high precision ARs/DMRs, its all there for the choosing.

Cons: To be honest, the biggest issue comes down to the fact that if you are not playing Coop, you are not really maximizing the experience of this game, which I can completely understand because I also enjoy some of my games done solo. Though the game is, admittedly, on the short side, it has the room there to grow even more (maybe it might follow in the footsteps of Destiny where after like 3 expansions, it will come out at as a whole collection for the same price when it would be worth the buy as the smaller issues get ironed out). I personally got the Gold edition, so I don't heavily consider this a big con but I can understand if some people do if they don't have any future DLCs in mind and are upset at what they currently have right now.

If you do plan on a pick up, I encourage you guys to spend the extra 30 and go for the Gold to make sure you got future DLCs covered but if you love playing solo, there are honestly more fulfilling games on the marker for that type of play-style and I implore you to check out other games before investing in this one.

It builds a strong foundation on the gameplay front, offering up rewarding combat and simple skills, but doesn’t follow that with anything substantial, being content to let the standard end game grind and excellent-yet-stressful PVP try to cover all the questions its writing leaves you with.
