The Witcher 3 is a excellent game that has both great characters and story. Not all of it is perfect though, for example the world isn't the best to explore to say Skyrim. The main quests are pretty good and interesting enough to make you want to keep going. The side quests are great there's just a lot of variety in them despite most of them being focused on hunting monsters. The monsters you hunt will rarely be the same kind that you hunt from a different contract. The stories are way more interesting in these side quests than other open world RPGs as I actually did care what was happening. The pros far outweigh the cons and is easily a GOTY contender Expand

    Cons:
    - Occasional Bugs and Crashes
    - Some strange, sometimes even bad writing (never in the main quest, mostly in side quests and not frequent enough to detract too much)
    - Combat and skill trees can be repetitive and I went through this game with 120 hours logged and barely used potions or oils.
    - Inventory Management was how I spent too much of my time (uh oh accidentally picked up a frying pan again)

Fantastic open world RPG. It has an enthralling story that really pushes you to just play it. You have this intense drive to play the game, it's great. The game does have some technical issues, and the combat isn't that great, but if you can look past those faults I suggest picking this gem up.

I have received a platinum trophy on this game and beaten the expansion and played for over 300 hours and am still looking forward to the next expansion. It deals with adult themes that are not dealt with in many other RPGs and the characters have much better voice acting, expressions... long story short, I just cared instead of rapidly skipping through the nonsense dialogue with a feeling that it was childish. I could go on and on about the combat, exploration, etc, but it's all good. Expand

It is an almost perfect game, brought down only by occasionally repetitive combat.

From most aspects this game is perfect; however, I found a slight shortcoming as I had played for a significant amount of time. I found the combat to become boring. I will say, this could be because I was playing it one specific way when most players change their play style so, it could have been in how I was playing the game. Nevertheless, I found the combat to get a bit repetitive at the middle of the game towards the end and that detracted from my experience.

Its slight flaws in combat are the only thing stopping me from giving this game a 10/10.

When it comes to video games; if it isn’t fun for me, then I rate low every time. Because I’ve heard raving reviews from my friends, 5 is the absolute highest score I could give a game that bored me to death.

The game deserves another chance and I will edit this review if it wins me over on a potential second attempt at TW3.

When i played other games like Assasin for example i was mostly playing main plot without trying to do every single side quest. Here its diffrent. I dont want to play main plot to extend the game as much as possible and get my witcher better weapons Because without it you also stand no chance with better creatures. All of the creatures are diffrent, wich makes to fight with each one of them other way and you have to use your special signs or alchemy to gain boost in your weapons. I would never believe a game would get me so much into it. The best opinion on it is that my fiancee who in her life played only candy crash on her iphone wants to play it too ar ot least watch main stories, thats how she is into it after watching just the beginning of the gameplay. 10/10 is not enough, this game is so big that if you play with side quests etc(wich yuo really want to do) i will take quite long time to finish. And then you will have also expansion packs wich doesnt cost a lot and adds as much into the game as other companies pull out a new game on market with 2.5x bigger price. CD Projekt is amazing company and i am sure they will bring much more also with Cyberpunk game in 2016. Honesty i can rate it way above GTA V or any other game in the history of gaming. Expand

The fact the were able to create a very detailed day/night cycle, and dynamic weather is just a plus to the already great environments.

The voice acting is superb, but be careful if you have children around because much of it relies on having a mature audience with a sense of humor. The amount of creatues in the game is astounding. Most RPGs you come across 10 or so different creatures, and that is it. Then you will repeat the cycle with the same creatues over and over. There are an enormous amount of different type of creatures in this game, or those close to the series, "monsters." The attention to detail is amazing. I came across a farmer in game that was shoveling in a field, and his shovel would enter the ground empty, and when it came back up, there was a shovel full of dirt. Once he tossed the shovel, you could actually see the dirt being tossed off. Another example was a kid playing in a stream, and you could actually see the water ripple as he moved his hands through it.

I haev seen several reviews where people have given the game a low score based solely, and only, on the reasoning they can't create their own character. I find it utterly amusing someone would waste their time to write a negative review about this when they should have know well in advance that Geralt is the main character of the game and the book. What ever made them think they were going to be able to alter the story given in the books is beyond me. It is an adventure about Geralt of Rivia, not John Doe of Pocono.

Honest it takes the best of some past top RPGS and puts it into one great package along with its only great work. You will surely not be wronged if you buy this game and will find plenty to like truly one of the top RPGS of this generation and will be a candidate for RPG of the year and Game of the Year for sure if not winner in one or both of the awards. If you like RPGS this is a must buy and has taken over my game time from playing other great RPGS like bloodborne, dark souls 2 SOTFS, and Dragon Age inquistion. The RPG genre truly has had some great titles as of late and hope to see that continue as I love the RPG genre and and all its newer subsets as of late xD.

Quick advice for anyone having issues starting game, make sure before you start the game to let it fully update the game or you might have an issue starting the game as I found that if you let the game fully update you will not have this problem starting the game but if you try and start the game before or during the updating then game will get stuck at loading screen otherwise no issues to speak of on PS4 unlike issues I have had with getting Witcher 3 to finally run properly on my high end PC but that's whole other platform and not for you to worry about if your playing on console.

Never in my life have a played an RPG that gives you such an alive and immersive feeling as Wild Hunt gives you. From the main story quests, secondary quests, contracts and treasure hunt, the developers have crafted each quest to make you care, to make you eagerly complete the quest to see the exciting outcome. From hunting down monsters across the vast open world, to simply helping an old lady get her frying pan pack, you care. That for me is what makes this game a 10. The lore is so fascinating, the combat is exhilarating, leveling crafting and alchemy have so much depth, and I can't even begin to tell you how much time I have put into the (mini)game gwent; all of what I listed adds to experience, but again it is how the game makes you care and in turn makes you cautious with your decision making. Every choice has a consequence and a lot of choices come down to choosing the lesser of two evils, however it is this choice that makes the game feel so grounded in reality. Your actions have consequences, Every time you have a choice (at least for myself) you take time to consider what is the best options for Geralt and for the world he lives in. In conclusion, the game is just so good, and if any developer has ever earned your $60 dollars it's without a doubt CDPR.

The world: At all platforms smooth and so alive, this game really brings you to world of Geralt. The climate changes, and you can fell it, its like when in real life you feel the wind, the clouds closing the sun, and you know its gonna rain. In TW3 you know that without even looking to sky, just because of animals, the foliage, the wind... Gorgeous.

RPG: This is an action rpg right? Yes, but its so rich, potions, alchemy, magic, swords, shields, bow, xbox, they're not simple weapons to use, they're something else, they defines you, you cant just simple use them, you need to master it, enjoy and understand each weapon. The level, the customization is everything in this game, you cant simply add ability points, you need to link that with your combat style, with your way to play, with your way of live in this world. Books, stories. Imagine a Skyrim with more dense and fluid combat system, add an alive world that changes all times by your actions and decisions, now, you're only 10% of what TW3 is capable.

Quests: They dont exist only to you level up, gear up, or end the story... They exist to make this world alive, i hate sidequests, but here you cant ignore them, they're as rich as the main ones. This game defines next-gen RPG.

Actors/NPC: Facial expressions, finest voice action, fluid smooth, you imagine the NPC is really there, is not just something to tell you the story, they're alive in this world.

Mine final opinion: This a must for an action gamer, a must for an rpg gamer, a must for FPS gamer, a must for everyone. This game change it all, to me it enter the same revolution as: Chrono trigger, First Doom, Final Fantasy 7, Half-life... This is the new level of future rpg, cant imagine if is even possible to match with it. Giving this game 10/10 is unfair, you cant score this game, like you cant score the industrial revolution, the french revolution, WW's.

I was looking forward to a fantasy laden game with deep exploration, big monsters to hack and slash, beautiful and engrossing environments and strong characters.

And what i got was a half baked, incomplete, raggedy mess! The only thing this game does
I downloaded this game the day it came out. I was excited seeing all the trailers, the buildup, the screenshots and the massive hype. I was looking forward to a fantasy laden game with deep exploration, big monsters to hack and slash, beautiful and engrossing environments and strong characters.

And what i got was a half baked, incomplete, raggedy mess!

The only thing this game does well are the characters and character development. Everything else is sub par.

The controls are horrid. Even after multiple updates fixing all sorts of bugs, CDPR are vehemently opposed to fix the clunky combat and control system. Controlling Geralt is like trying to control a lead balloon. In combat the camera never stays fixed so mobs just run past your HUD making you have to move your clunky camera to face them as they raggedly try to jump on you.

Sword movements don't have any feedback - it feels the same when slicing thin air or slicing an enemy - the timing of Geralt is not consistent - a quick attack feels slower or faster at every input, not to mention there is also a very noticeable input lag, especially when trying to dodge and roll.

The enemies movement is jagged and rough - so is Geralts. The concept of smooth combat is non-existent in this game. This not only applies to movement in combat but also exploration. It often takes multiple attempts for a input prompt to pop up while interacting with the world as your character is just a pixel of 2 off center. You have to press X multiple times in hope that you get the input as this is easier than trying to align Geralt properly.

The menu is horrendous. It seems CDPR did not have a UX designer on their team during development. Equipment items and toggling through you menu items is tedious, clunky and slow. Its not intuitive at all - i mean how come there is no quick toggle between your inventory items and equipped items? You have to scroll using the d-pad though all your inventory items for the cursor to move right and land on your equipped items - and did i mention that even moving the cursor has a input lag - i constantly found myself hitting the d-pad multiple times for the cursor to move 1 slot.

The world map is confusing and ragged - moving your marker from one place to another almost feels like scratching your nails on a chalkboard. It is so jittery and spotty. This is the map for god's sake - this is not in-game where you can expect frame rate drops in a game this vast, this is the god damn map screen. SMH

Which brings me to the "open world." Its more like open areas than open world and you cannot traverse from one area to the next without using the fast travel mechanic. So how is this a true open world? Its a segmented open world - i.e the area you are in is open to exploration within its confines, but if you want to leave that area to another part of the world, you must fast travel, which turns the screen into a loading screen until it plops you into the new area of the game.

Which also brings me to the sheer barren and lifelessness of the world you are in. Yes the open areas are vast but they are vast swaths of mostly wilderness foliage. The towns you come across are more or less all the same which gives you no incentive to actually want to go in a explore, unless its part of a quest.

Natural exploration is limited in this game. If you wandered around aimlessly you will see the same thing everywhere - same structures, same enemies, same types of people, etc. Its not fun, unless you are on a specific mission or side quest.

Now with that out of the way - this game has a few good things going for it.

The main draw would be the characters and their story-lines. They are interesting, intriguing and compels you to want to know more, hence you finish that specific mission or quest to see it through to the end in order to find out the fate and outcome of the people involved.

In some instances this aspect of game play can be quite deep and intricate. A lot of the characters are well acted and makes Geralt invest heavily in their missions - so you care about what happens to them and either want them dead or fight for their survival.

This aspect alone made me want to continue playing just to see what happens to certain characters and unfold the story - which is a good one mind you.

So i feel like this game is a great shame - a shame for what it could have been. It has a lot going for it but the execution is so poorly done its a chore to play. The sad thing is a lot of these aspects could have been easily fixed, i.e clunky movements, choppy menus etc by update patches but the developer i feel is too stubborn and is forcing us to play the game "their way."

With all the updates this game has received in the last 3 years, the one that is most complained about - the clunky movement and jagged combat mechanics have never been addressed and we will never truly know why that is.

Witcher 3 is, overall, not bad. It has very distinct quirks though, so if any of them just happen to fall into your pet peeves it might just be a game breaker. My insight might be most useful to others who are diving into the Witcher series for the first time, like me. I'm playing on the PS4.

Despite the whole 'graphic downgrade' some players have been miffed about, the visuals are still pretty good. What's unfortunate though is the actual game play. Story's still more or less engaging though.

    Pros:

    > The subject matter of the stories and quests are pretty gritty. Some are humorous - See: cheese mages, tyromancy - and it balances out the game. My friend didn't like this though so it may be a con for some if you dislike Fable-esque, cheesy humor.

    > Quests. Quests Everywhere.

    > Massive variation of items.(also a bit of a con, explained below...)

    > Extensive lore and 'collectables' for fellow hoarders.

    > I see a lot of negative reviews about Gwent, the card game within the game, but I think they're pretty fun? They also allow item hoarders to try and gather all of the cards. Art on the cards are gorgeous to boot.

    > Gives just enough good loot to keep things interesting.

    Cons:

    >Already seen this plenty but just to cover the bases - tiny, tiny tiny tiny font. It's still kind of hard to read even on a 74" flat screen, and the font's on maximum size! How many wolf's livers do I have? is that 80 or 50?

    > Massive variation of items....stuck in a clunky and disorganized user interface. It's listed chronologically rather than by type (i.e. herbs in one chunk, runes in another, etc.) so you need to do a lot of scrolling to look for things.

    > Don't expect Geralt to jump off a 4ft ledge and survive. You get used to it as you play but I died several times simply due to being pushed off small heights (most of which were less than his own stature!) by enemies at the very beginning of the game. It still happens sometimes but it becomes expected.

    > Movement mechanics of Geralt/Roach (his horse)/anything is very clunky. There's no precision whatsoever, so when you're trying to loot a tiny box for a quest...well, it gets tedious pretty quickly. Best not play this game after other titles that put a lot of effort into sprite movement (i.e. assassin's creed, Prototype, etc).

    > Map is a lie. You can only stray a certain distance away from the main trails and roads before you hit the end of the map and are redirected back to whence you came from. If you enjoy extreme open-world experiences like in Fall Out, Skyrim, or Just Cause, you might feel restricted.

    > Small deathtraps everywhere. There's little nooks in the map that get Geralt stuck ( in some cases attributed to poor sprite recognition?). There was one pit in the bogs near a quest route which was just deep enough for Geralt to not be able to jump out of, but shallow enough to have him violently twitch between a state of drowning in bog water and walking. It's not an obscure location in the map, either. Had to reload to a prior save to get out of that mess.

    > This is a neutral/con type of thing for me. Leveling up is very...very slow. Many main quests require hours of leveling up before you can even hope to beat the boss. It's nice to feel immersed in the world, but when in a more impatient mood, not being able to see the follow-up story for another few days actually pulls me out of the world.

There's more but I'm nearing the word count limit. I hope these things were at least somewhat insightful. Despite all the cons I've listed out though, it's not a bad game! I would wait until the price drops though if you're more of a casual gamer, or don't have any investments in the actual Witcher franchise.

This is a mix of gta v / skyrim/ bloodborne and even a little of batman arkham series.

I found I started the game on easy because I constantly died but now I raised the level to the hardest one available and monster as extremely fun to handle, sometimes a fight will take me 20+ min to complete because you actually feel like the real witcher from the books. Constantly changing and messing around with oils, different monsters have different weaknesses.

There are tons of different potions, and decoctions, bombs and weapons and all make the game so much fun trying to figure out what to use next for your next fight. This is the first time I ever spent $80 on a game (with premium pass) and I actually don't feel ripped off.

CD Projekt Red will also be releasing 30 hours of dlc story which at first I thought they exaggerated, but after playing the witcher 3 I fully believe that they will deliver.

Get this game now. My life has been gone since the day this game came out, can't stop playing.

Witcher 3 is overall an excellent game and deserves many praises. High graphical fidelity (although lesser than what was displayed at E3), deep and meaningful storyline, great combat system, memorable characters and more. CD Projekt RED should pat themselves on the back for providing DLC's for free. Yes, you hear right; the DLC's we get are free and I am not talking about one or two DLC's. Thus far, they have released 14 free DLC's. CD Projekt RED sets an examine of how the gaming industry should be behaving when it comes to downloadable content.

A truly amazing game! Hours I have spent roaming the vast world, completing the various side quests and leveling up my character, Geralt. Game play is solid, yet fluid. Finishers add even more satisfaction to your kills. I've gotten so lost in a side mission story line that I forgot that I wasn't do the main campaign. Perfect game! Easily recommended to anyone that loves a good story driven RPG.

    - goergeous nature, folliage, especially on sunset
    - many, so many beautifull anims
    - very good dialogues for the main quests
    - have to say that the main characters are beautifull and mouvements natural and fluids.
    - to my opinion, the Islands territory is the most visually pleasing
    - superb monsters !
    Skyrim
    - huge world with a ton of things to discover, a lot more than The witcher
    - more landscape diversity
    - battle stays chalenging at all level since the opponents level increases with the main character level.
    - presence of a chest to store valuable ( no such thing in the Witcher )
    - alchimy a lot more developed. In the witcher you can grab a lot of different things by killing monsters or picking flowers... but only a very small portion of them are usable. The rest you pick is for selling... they have the foundation for a great option to the game and missed it, for what I am concerned.

    On the minus sign
    The Witcher
    - see my comments above on Skyrim
    - repetitive faces... seen on the secondary characters (merchants for example)
    - repetitive and limited secondary quests

So, will The Witcher pass the Time test ? Will you come over and over replay this game due to it's absolute qualities and quests ? I don't think so. After a couple of time the game will take dust on the shelf.
Beware not to expect to much when buying the game. It is over rated.

Some amazing characters populate this game’s world, and some side missions will highlight amazing storyline that unfortunately, seem to end all too quickly due to their nature of being just side quests.

Like many other overrated titles to come out in recent memory (like The last of us and Horizon Zero Dawn) I found myself disappointed with The Witcher 3 all throughout its uninteresting story. There are definitely better games on the market, and if you’re looking for a deep action rpg experience, I would honestly look elsewhere.

The characters and the story are impressively worked out as if the game is a quality novel itself. The same quality story telling as Witcher 2. The open world is large and you can enter plenty of buildings. This is why this open world is more impressive than GTA5, because in GTA 5 you can not enter buildings. The weather and day/night cycle are also dynamic and impressive. The wind really let the trees shake. Does it has flaws? Some minor. The controls are not always perfect during battles and sometimes you will experience framedrops in cities. But that are minor points against a game that is the new milestone in gaming. Any linear game looks completely outdated against this game. CD Project Red set the bar very high for this game and somehow managed to deliver. I would give it a 95 score. The effort that has went into making this game is so evident throughout but unfortunately, for me, there are too many key flaws that mar the whole experience for me and have actually made me give up playing.

The camera and screen placement causes enemies to linger unseen ready to pounce on your preoccupied back. You can increase your damage output with potions and oils. And this is pretty much when the combat ends. The skills you can choose upon levelling up have little to no impact on the game, unlike similar lightly RPG titles like Fallout of Bioshock. The absence of true RPG elements here is probably what disappointed me most, yet the game feigns these properties often. Levelling up is almost entirely achieved via quest completion. The minimal amount of XP gained from killing enemies is baffling to me and one of the system's biggest flaws. And in the game's more difficult moments, there is no respite for trying to better yourself (like the Souls series or other traditional RPGs) - losing is often not your own fault but one of the many system flaws'.

The story and characters are fine, but the endless fetch quest plot was already grating on me by the 20 hour mark. A single quest stretches on for hours with literally the same tasks repeatedly in succession. I failed tasks through absolutely no fault of my own (people dying in other locations). There is little motivation to complete anything, and when you do your rewards are meager. This all adds up to giving me little desire to progress in the game.

This may be the game for many people out there (evidently), but I cannot play it any longer on account of the above issues. I recognise its merits as a well-presented, expansive and busy medieval world with loads to do and see. But being marketed as an action RPG, I expected these elements to be strongest when they are in fact the contrary. I can't get over the lack of depth in the game's battle and growth systems. I completely appreciate that the depth lies in the story/quest/dialogue-focused branching narrative, but this is not sufficient for a title in this genre. I'm maybe misinterpreting what the game's truly all about, but I thought this after the first few hours, after 10 hours, after 15 hours. It would be a waste of time continuing to play something that I don't enjoy, but this is not to say the game is rubbish. I just cannot see by its flaws giving their importance to me, and wish everyone playing it the best of experiences. The Witcher 3 is just not for me.

This game is the perfect example I'd use to describe why open world RPG's are my favorite games. As a fan of the Witcher graphic novel comics I was eager to see an amazing story be told in an open world RPG. At the same time I was a little worried, the Witcher short stories written by Andrzej Sapkowski are truly a work of literary art. The lore is rich enough to envision the entire world of the Witcher. Andrzei was able to paint an entire world so detailed you wouldn't have any transition going into the games after reading the stories. I doubted whether or not the game would truly capture what makes the stories so amazing, yet I was not only proven wrong but completely amazed.

The Witcher is unlike any RPG, where your choices do not have a clear "Good guy choice" or "Bad guy choice" instead you will be faced with choices that warrant deep thought be put into it before deciding. Just like real life, you'll make decisions that you thought were the right choice but only for them to end up having severe consequences. Just like real life you'll have to learn those mistakes as you progress through. Usually RPGs will have choices but their outcomes rarely change the story, they'll have cosmetic changes and maybe certain characters will react differently to you but there are no branching paths.

Witcher 3 Wild Hunt improves so much upon previous titles. Witcher 2 had open sections of a story that you'd progress and move on to the next area. It gave the illusion of an open world but without the freedom. Witcher 3 has a vast world with many small minute details that most of which will go unnoticed. But for those few dedicated fans who love to scour the land to find all the nooks and crannies will be rewarded by doing so.

Crafting, character builds, abilities, the in-depth inventory and easy access to potions & spells makes the game feel comfortable to play. It takes only a few minutes to get used to the game and understand combat, however being skilled in combat will take some time and strategic planning. The game is difficult, as it should be. Reading the books and immersing yourself into the game will actually help you with combat. Books and knowledge provide insight on the lore as well as learning enemy weaknesses.

The story is still by far the best part of this game. To get the most amazing RPG experience playing this game, I highly recommend you make choices as you would if you were in Geralt's shoes. This adds immersion and really makes you think about your choices. Do not look up walkthroughs, exploration is one of the best aspects of this game. And I also recommend reading up on Witcher lore, it's incredible. From the Witcher's, the drunken hilarious Dwarfs that you'd be crazy to challenge to an arm wrestling match, the lore behind The Black Ones, the circle of Mages and the war of the crowns are all amazing tales to be heard.

I don't just recommend this game, I'm telling you this game deserves your purchase. This game will give you an experience that's more than worth the $60 price. Open world RPG's are not always given the spotlight in the mainstream gaming media but Witcher is definitely worth that spotlight. Open world RPGs and Action Adventure games are meant to give you a grand sense of adventure, exploration, immersion and an experience you won't find in other genres. Witcher 3 is an experience you won't forget.

To me it's mediocre. It has its peaks. Sometimes it's enjoyable. But as others have said it has too many poor design choices to be good or above that. There's nothing special here. Story is just cliché medieval fantasy with boring conversations adding nothing to the main plot. Combat is mostly unbalanced. Enemies are either too easy or suicide level challenging. It's painfully obvious how the developers made soldiers almost impossible to kill to force people into fighting monsters, so reviews wouldn't say "It's like Assassin's Creed."
Mission payouts are close to 0. What you're gonna do with 50 Coins? Might as well loot everything and sell that for better profit. Perhaps you earn more later. I might figure that out some day.

There's alot potential here. The design of the world is impressively detailed (especially rural locations), but that's pretty much the only impressive aspect.

Back to my question. Who's everyone rating this game like it's a masterpiece?
I know who. It's kids who aren't old enough to know the true masterpieces of gaming, and those who love it just because of the genre of setting and/or gameplay.
To me it's nowhere close masterpieces such as BO3.

I mean... masterpieces such as MGS3.

    * The movement controls are bad.
Geralt can not turn for anything. Neither can Roach for that matter. This has created a number of scenarios when I just die, because not only is turning a huge pain, but so is fall damage. How does fall damage work? You either die, have one hit of health left, or no damage. I have fallen from a cliff mouth and died while running from enemies.

    * The glitches.
The glitches take the cake for what make this a disastrous playing experience. We have basic bugs, like flocks of birds flying away in a big cluster ball, or NPCs Ubisofting through the floor, ot even the game screaming at me in bright colors. Those are okay. Those are fine.

We also have the glitches that make you reload or hop a cliff to undo. A good example is one of the locked buildings in Skellige: I came across it while exploring and fell through the wall and into tje building, and since I wasn't to the quest it was involved in, I couldn't get out. I have also fallen into knee-high puddles with no way to get out.

    * The combat is boring.
The Witcher 3 is a hack-and-slash RPG. You have three attack skills: Sword, crossbow, Igni sign. It gets pretty easy unless you crank the difficulty, amd even then it's a game of rolling until you win.

Overall, this game was not worth the amount of time I put into it, and I feel it was a major step down from The Witcher 2.

I have mixed feelings from this game. It excels in some areas, but have huge weaknessess in others. So it is not a game for everybody. Based on your priorities, you may love it, but also you can end up really dissapointed.

    The good:
Story, world, atmospere... Developers really build big, beatifull, believable, living world. The Novigrad is biggest RPG city I have even seen. NPC have lots of different scripts (behaviours and dialogues). Wnen you are riding through the countriside, it feels really real and not static as other games. The story telling is great. The quests are long, interesting, full of twists. Quests are full of cutscenes and scripts, so playing them feels little like the Mass Effect and you are drag into the story. So if you are like me and you like to play the games for story, you will love this game. It will hook you and will have problems to shut it down.

    The bad:
Basically gamedesign. For some reason, the developers choose some really weird decisions about controls, menus and gamedesign. The game is contra-intuitive and many basic tasks has to be done in unnecessary complicated ways. It is not making the game harder, but slower. Some common tasks becames chores and you will hate them. Some examples: when you ancounter pile of bags and boxes you have to loot them individually (15 of them). Each containing one alchemy ingredient. Why it can not be grouped? When you encounter book, you can not read it immediatelly. You need to take it and then go look for it in your full inventory. Why? When you purchase new equipment, you can not choose buy&equip to be able immediatelly sell the old stuff. You have to end the dialogue, go into inventory, change your stuff, and start new dialogue and choose you want to sell again. Why? The crafting is actually multilevel process. You need to craft even your crafting components. So it is not obvious if you have enough raw materials. And building new armor becomes long process of searchign and bulding four another components. Why? When new character description is added to you glossary, it is marked by yellow star. But this dissapears immediatelly once you select it. So if it is the item you need to scroll too, these markers dissapers as soon as it appears on your screen. Making them useless and you can easily miss updated descriptions this way.

Basically none of these compains are real problem individually. But there is some many of these small unpolished details, that I fell like Im spending half of my gametime in menus managing the game instead of playing it. And we know from other games, it can be done in much easier and intuitive ways. So if you are looking for smooth gameplay and interesting action and you dont care about the story, you may and up really dissapointed.
Personnaly Im somewhere in the middle. Im really hooked to the story. But most of the Im crunching my teeth and cursing the game for these unnecessary mistakes.

Though this game has not as many dungeons as for example Skyrim, the world of The Witcher 3 does one thing particularly better; being authentic. This game's authenticity starts with architecture, goes on with the hardship of NPCs and ends with the clothing. The buildings are not like what one would expect to see in a fantasy game, their appearance is pretty close to the one I experienced from houses in very old towns of Europe (Germany, Poland, Czech). It is about the same with clothing; you will not find any badass-looking armour like the Daedric ones in Elder Scrolls games. No, they look much more simplistic and by that realistic. The Witcher 3 is a bit like experiencing a medieval world as it could have actually been only with monsters and magic. The combat is superb, excellent, the best I have ever experienced in a game. It is fast and you have to rely on your actual gaming skills, because Geralt is not going to learn any super powerful spells etc., though the leveling system is actually skill-based. Before fighting powerful monsters you might have to look up their weaknesses in order to facilitate victory. Nevertheless the combat system basically consists of well-timed dodging, parrying/ countering, striking and of course using witcher signs. After I had experienced massive lags and one game crash, The Witcher 3, with patch 1.04 installed, runs almost without any lags on PS4 now as well. It looks amazing despite the graphical downgrade, though you might encounter some blurry textures on rocks. As for me I have not encountered any major bugs, only minor ones like levitating people or weirdly flinging blood strains after killing drowners and I have been playing this game for more than 120 hours now. The Witcher 3 also contains a crafting system for amours, swords, potions, oils and other stuff. For most of them you need to find patterns in order to be able to craft them, which makes a new sword or armour a very rewarding item. Oh, what the heck am I babbling about? Just get the game if you have not already! If there is one fantasy game that deserves your money, it is The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt! My verdict for this masterpiece is a 96/100. Expand

What can I say? Best game ever! The story is amazing which is what I find lacking in a lot of games. A good story makes a game worth playing, along with good gameplay too of course which the Witcher 3 has in bucketloads. Loads of things to do and great graphics. For most part of the game, Witcher 3 is amazing. Graphics and art direction are superb. Alongside Last of Us, Witcher 3 is probably the best game out there in terms of characters animation. In many games the characters rely heavily on the voice acting. In Witcher 3 most characters have unique gestures and body languages. For example Witcher 3, Triss and Yeneffer are completely different in every way, they are not just different in voice and appearance. You just get the feeling those people are really characters of a fantasy story, they are not just flat npcs of a RPG game.

Another hit are the light effects and dynamic weather. Stormy nights, amazing sunsets or just the regular midnight moon. Every day and night in this world is unique. This and the open world freedom (you can even sail a boat here) will guarantee some unforgettable moments. I decided to first travel to Novigrad (largest city on the game) by boat. The sight of the city at distance was really striking. When I finally got into the city docks and looked to the west, the sky was burning with the dying sun. Easily one of the most beautiful moments I experienced in games.

The world is very well designe, for the most part. Vellen is a very unique land. South is literally no man’s land, full of swamps, monster and hopeless people. As you move north, you will find cities and populated areas. Remote areas are lair of powerful monsters. Side quests are well made, and most of them are worth a try. Far from the pointless stuff we had in most of Dragon Age Inquisition side quests.

The worlds story as a whole is very well told, and the amount of important characters is huge. You will only will realize it after you check the “characters” entry in the main menu.

Gwent card game is pretty amazing and addictive.

    The soundtrack is epic.

Well, even amazing games have their problems, and Witcher 3 has some that affected my experience with the game.

The game is far from supper polished. For example, in PS4 version of GTA V the open world is flawless. Even a remote area of the game is well made. The limitations of distant objects in GTA V are discreet. In Witcher 3,in many occasions huge objects are invisible even at close distances. Distant views are also bad. While GTA V could give you superb panoramic views of the city landspace, in Witcher 3 distant views suffer from the ultra low level detail. Everything in the distance is covered by a very ugly fog. Some textures in the game are just no acceptable in a PS4 game (red bricks in baron’s castle, for example).

The talk about the game’s size is everywhere. Its true the game is huge, but its due to Skellige, a complex of islands where most part of the map is water where there is nothing to do. I have to admit I got the feeling this area was a little rushed. Side quests are not as great as others (you won’t get more than 10 quests worth your time here). Local people are a cheap mixture of vikings and celtics. Every island in the area looks identical. There is not enough content in there to justify the size. There are basically 3 kinds of monsters in the whole area (those sirens…).

Story pace is pretty erratic. The game sets Geralt’s main goal from the beginning (find and save Ciri). The problem is, after the first hours, the game just forget it, and the game’s rhythm gets better only the final act. The amount of side content is a problem, because some of them are really important for the main story, and are note exactly "side" quests, for example, one mission is about the assassination of a king. Of course its mission is not a simple side quest. Its no only important to the lore, but later you will find out that this side quest, and some others, are essential in order to get the best ending. The choices are also problematic. The difference between a very bad ending and the best one might be a couple of simple dialogue choices. Another question is about this king trying to catch a witch, who will be present in the main quest later in the game. So at the end of the day the game pace is a bit problematic.

Menu is a bit of a mess. Combat system is far from superb. Crafting is not exactly intuitive (I had more fun in this aspect with DA: I).

Despite those problems, Witcher 3 is a very good game. Unpolished graphics, poor paced story and not so good combat system prevented it from being perfect. CD Projekt Red deserves credits for making a superb RPG game without the financial muscles of bigger developers and for respecting the gamers. In a time where day one paid DLC's are the rule, Witcher 3 gives you a decent amount of free DLC's week after week. The content in physical copies of the game is also a hit. You get a very beautiful map, cd with the game soundtrack, manuals, stickers and compendium. A relief in the 2 pointless flyers era.

Witcher 3 combines every element of a good fantasy RPG - variety of enemies; huge, vast open world, filled to the brim with activities; nonlinear, captivating story; a lot of characters; awesome protagonist. Other modern AAA games will offer filler space to make a world seem alive and full whereas the Witcher actually fills it with interesting side quests and alternating scenarios. The combat system is just exquisitely swift and precise leaving you with extreme satisfaction as you get a decapitation kill on an opponent you had been fighting hard. Overall an amazing game and easily winner of game of the year in my mind. 10/10 Expand

I believe this is the only game I've ever played that I can give 10/10 with absolute conviction, but this is probably due to the fact that a) I've read the Witcher novels and b) I'm Polish. Since I devoured all the books as a teenager, coming back to this world was like meeting old friends long not seen (a feeling strangely absent from my experience with The Witcher 1 and 2, neither of which I completed, by the way) and the game translates the world of the Witcher impeccably. This world also derives a whole lot from the ancient slavic and Polish traditions and legends, so you really need to be Polish to get 100% of the atmosphere. Yet again, if you don't speak Polish, you will have a great opportunity to experience something a bit different to your typical heroic fantasy reality. Don't be fooled by the "standard" medieval setting of the game - when you encounter mages concerned with "ecology", expansive empires championing gender equality, or a representative of a common folk discussing "democracy", you'll know what I mean. Solid game. If you are the least bit interested in the genre this is a for sure 10/10. Even if you are not sure if you like these kind of games you still will have a good time. (no extra 50 dollar season pass) With only one play through i must go back and do it again to see all the stuff i missed and see what would happen if i did things differently. Other than some wonky camera angles and feeling over whelmed at times (which might be a good thing) i dont see any thing wrong. Put it on easy mode to sit back and enjoy the story/visuals or put it on hard for a challenging experience. Expand

Amazing! Just amazing... personally i haven't seen a game like this since my personal favourite Skyrim.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a concoction of all the great RPG of the last decade. You will feel and see the accolades of games such as Dragon Age and Skyrim. I personally see glimmers of Dark Souls.

The narrative deserves an Academy-Award, and so does the Original Score: the Composers Mikolai Stroinski, Marcin Przybyłowicz and Percival have created a cacophony of sounds that only some games are fortunate to have.

Truly you are able to see the care and detail CD Projekt Red has put into the final installment in their critically-acclaimed series.

Now, one may ask. Is this game the best thing since slice bread? And my honest answer would be no, this game does have some flaws, even now two months after release i am still experiencing glitches and annoying bugs. Stupid things as my horse blocking the way out of a building, or the age old cliche of falling out of the world. But, apart from that, the game is... well... perfect.

It you love combat style of both Dragon Age and Skyrim, imagine them two combined together, that is what you get when you buy The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The developer mixes the combat up, you will need to think before you strike. Some enemies you'll need to have a tactical approach against and some other you'll be able to kill with not a second thought.

If you love RPG's like me then this game is an unquestionable- must buy. 10/10

Este título da série the witcher não poderia ser melhor. Os gráficos, os sons, a ambientação, o mapa, a missões, absolutamente tudo é épico (tirando pelos bugs que me fizeram chegar a está conclusão).

I have never really been a big fan of the Witcher Series but this game definitely changed that for me. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A masterpiece, everybody should play it. This game is the final part of a great saga which started with the Sapkowski´s literary saga. If you have not read the books or even played the 2 previous games you would enjoyed, but if u have the satisfaction will be incredibly higher.

Characters like Yennefer, Vesemir, Ciri, Eskel, Lambert or Dijkstra, with an important rol in The Witcher´s universe and in Geralt´s story will appear in this third game.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the candidates of the GOTY whit no doubt 10/10

I bought a PS4 to be able to play this game (this was one of the many reasons though, but I was really hyped), and boy, it was such a good decision! The Witcher 3 is not simply the best in the series, not simply the best in its genre but overall the best singleplayer game experience I've ever had! Thank you, CD Project RED, thank you for this game, you really made my days happy with this piece.

Its a incredibly well made game and it does some amazing things like its open world. The quests are the most entertaining I've ever played in an open world game. I really love Geralt as a character. The music fits the game. I love how alive the world feels, especially Novigrad, but its got its share of problems. Small text, average combat, level up system lacking satisfying progressiont. 9/10

The Witcher 3's subject matter, its almost defiant doubling down on its treatment of women as titillating props for Geralt and the player, even as it tries to flesh out more female leads, is its most disappointing aspect. This constant presence weighs down what would otherwise be an excellent bit of closure for Geralt's video game saga — which isn't helped by the control issues that often detract from sequences meant to break up open-world monotony.
