let me start telling you this, I bought the GOG version and I have been playing this game ever since it's released, currently I have its 1.08.4 patch which is considered as the latest . I admit I have a bit old PC but I can play GTA V with high settings fine, I can play Dragon age inquisition with high settings fine but not this game? why? some says this game is so demanding but to belet me start telling you this, I bought the GOG version and I have been playing this game ever since it's released, currently I have its 1.08.4 patch which is considered as the latest . I admit I have a bit old PC but I can play GTA V with high settings fine, I can play Dragon age inquisition with high settings fine but not this game? why? some says this game is so demanding but to be honest, when a game is so demanding it means either the game is graphically awesome or badly optimized but we everyone know Witcher 3 downgraded its graphic quality just before it's released and it doesn't have a realistic look so why it's so demanding? because it's unoptimized , the game is a console port and badly optimized, and there is poorly coded Maxwell favour Gamework on top of it.

there are a lot of bugs in the game, character movement isn't that fluid like in GTA ,you feel like it's a bit robotic when moving, the same feeling has when fighting and riding a horse. water quality, terriann quality isn't that good either ,it looks like a bit cartoonish, the only pro side of this game is having good looking characters and weapons.

animations are quite bad, character movement, tree shaking when it's windy are absolutely horrific. the trees shake like thick papers when it's windy, there is no realism at all in it. the water quality is quite bad, it doesn't even look like water, but some heavy fluid. combat is repetitive and boring and dull, horse riding doesn't feel like fluid, it's same as the character movement, so robotic, if you want the best character movement then go to GTA. the story is fine, level design is fine, the world is huge and wonderful ,there are a lot of places to explore , but the game performance discourages me from playing, who wants to play a game with 30fps and low?
in towns it goes even low like 23fps, I reduced all settings lowest as possible but the situation is still same, I have seen that a lot of people defend this game, I dunno why, you need a gtx 980 to play this game with Ultra quality at 1080p@60fps but that card is so expensive, it just suggests gtx 770 as recommended means u should be able to play the game with max settings with 1080p@60fps with gtx 770 but it's quite impossible.
when you set all settings to Ultra on gtx 770 ,the fps goes to 30fsp.so basically on a recommended system you can't achieve 60fps at 1080p on Ultra mode. then why it's even recommended?
only SLI high end cards can pass the 60fps and single gtx 980 card can achieve 60fps in towns.

this game purposely reduced the performance of AMD cards recently though it's fixed I am pretty sure still it favours Nvidia Maxwell users over other users. I feel like this game is developed to push people to buy Maxwell cards so it's more like a Nvidia marketing plan. Physx can't even be turned off.

I suggest that wait for like 2-3 years until more powerful hardware shows up and bugs in this game are fixed, then go ahead and buy because this game is worth, I heard that DirectX12 patch might come so soon which means there will be a tremendous performance boost since gtx 400 cards. don't buy now and wait, so you can have the game at cheap price too.

    ***Possible spoiler (specific details withheld)***
There is a level 3 Contract to kill a Noon Wraith at a well. This is a Boss Fight (Defined as a monster with a ‘Special Health Bar’). You are told to read the entry in the bestiary to learn about the creature and you find it is venerable to certain bombs, Oils, and Spells. So, I explored the entire area going to every question mark on the game map. I didn’t use my horse but I ran so that I could harvest every single plant I encountered along the way and loot every hidden cache I came across. End result, I didn’t have the pattern to make the bomb, nor the mats to make the Oil. Add to this that this game is insanely hard even on the lowest skill level, “Just The Story.” All I had in attacking this Noon Wraith was the spell and I got killed. Over and over again, even using the lowest skill level. Add to this that you can’t run from combat, instead you walk backwards facing the monster while it is still attacking you. I finally realized that if I mashed the space bar repeatedly I could roll away, meditate/heal, and return. It took me almost 45 mins to kill this monster, all the time screaming “M****rf****r!”
    ***End Spoiler***

This pattern repeated itself for the following Boss Fights (again Boss defined as having a ‘Special Health Bar’). Boss Fights are insanely hard even on the lowest level provoking me to profane outbursts.

This makes me wonder what they think they mean by “Just the Story?”

My family complained about how much I was swearing while playing Witcher 3, and I had to agree with their assessment that the game just is not fun to play.

This is a game for hard core adrenaline junkies who want the sense of satisfaction that comes from finally winning a fight after dyeing 10 or 100 times before you finally succeed.

It this isn’t you, then stay away, you will not have any fun playing this game.

    - It's big - but this also leads to some of the cons.
    - lots of gear - but again this leads to a con

    Cons
    - Combat is clunky. Some RPG games have smooth flowing fight animations, but apart from the odd death blow, Witcher does not fell like i am playing an experienced expert fighter, but a grunt with a sword. Certainly nothing cool in a fight.
    - Combat is boring, the spells are while useful and necessary, competely dull. After a little while, you'll use pretty much only 2 spells(Fire and shield) and both are ..meehh.
-Swords - I change swords to get a magical upgrade. How the hell do I know that has happened. If I change swords, then make it noticeable I have changed. Give it a different moveset, make the sword look different. Make me excited when I change to a new sword, especially if It is one I've spent hours collecting materials to build. It's dull.
    - herbs - OMG, I know a lot of games where you can collect herbs, but this is ridiculous! This is not an MMORPG where I am going to expect to be playing it in 2 years time. It's a game with a start-mid and end, I do not wish to have to waste my life looking for stupid herbs.
    - inventory management is terrible. things clumped together in meaningless groups. Very small inventory screen with difficult to read stats/names/amounts.
    - General movement - no fluidity. In one scene you have to get into a burning building save the horses and the people and get out in a very short time frame, but trying to jump over a burning barrel takes precious seconds to do. Just one example where movement is clunky.
    - Interactions - Looting is the biggest here. when looting you have to be at specific angles to loot a body or a plant. stand on to of it, and you can't, stand next to it at the wrong angle you can't. it'sincredibly frustrating. Other examples is the burning building again. you have to interact with several doors to release the horses, but while you know you are close enough to do the interaction the engine does not recognise it. This kind of function is paramount to a game with Soooo much looting and interaction, so it should work.
    - Load times - Die and it take several minutes to load my last save, move to a new area, several minutes. Reminds me of Fallout New Vegas, where you could go away and make a drink while you wait on the loads.

While all these things are annoying, are they game breaking, maybe not, but they sure add up to me spending a lot of my time saying "Seriously!!" and not being able to play for long periods. Am I going to finish the game, yes, because the story keeps you hooked, but will i go back for a second playthrough, probably not.

Witcher 3 is very well written, and pays attention to the details it has to leave in such a medieval world. Every town has a personality, and seems lively - even the way most quests are given is realistic, and that's a huge step forward in making you enter its world.

However, small inconveniences may appear when trying to control Geralt or its horse; the controller is far from being really precise and it happens to be very annoying at times. The battle system also requires you to unlearn how it worked in some other games similar for its combat, which is another annoyance.

Having to load a previous save when dying is old fashoned game design that I thought we were past by now, at least let me retry the current fight keeping my experience points and any items I picked up in the fight I died in.
Sometimes when you dismount your horse your character will be doing the swimming animation when no where near water. This is especially annoying when getting off your horse to fight something.
Game does not auto-save nearly enough, I should not have to manually save in 2015.
Not being able to meditate while on your horse is annoying.
The character control while underwater is terrible.
Having to exit a shop menu to equip gear just to sell old gear to shop is tedious and old fashioned.
Not being able to buy-back at shops is old fashioned game design and unnecessary frustration.
Sometimes items glitch and float in the air.
Sometimes shadows glitch on and off.

The issue, however, with this game is twofold: size/scale and pacing.

If you are someone who enjoys being constantly stimulated and moving from one destructive engagement to the next, TW3 is not for you.
Likewise, if travelling over large distances does not sound appealing to you, TW3 may not be your game.

This is because The Witcher 3 is both an incredibly huge game, and an incredibly well paced game. I say well-paced here because in terms of game design the pacing in this piece of media is just phenomenal. Playing for the first time generally everything happens at the right time in terms of preparedness and intrigue, and due to the expansive setting you will never be rushed.

However this slow and methodical approach which permeates almost every part of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt may leave some people feeling bored, as the immediate objective is yours to decide, getting into action is not always a button click away, and the game is by and large entirely driven by the compelling narrative and excellent acting.

If you want something easy to consume and have fun with, avoid The Witcher 3.

If you want the equivalent of a good book (or series of books) in the form of interactive entertainment, then The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the game you've probably been waiting for if you haven't played it already.

This isn't just GOTY, this is Game of the Last 15 Years. The only RPGs you can't rightfully place this above are classics like Planescape, Fallout 2, and Baldur's Gate.

The people complaining about the combat system are probably used to simpler combat mechanics and crutches like auto-adjust cameras and action bars. This isn't 2005 anymore kiddies, time to improve your dexterity.

The minor issues that can be annoying are the loading times (which seem short compared to games like Bloodborne but still noticeably long, especially if you're playing on Death March difficulty and die frequently), there's some pathing issues with the auto-run feature while riding Roach, the quest paths can bug out on the map overlay, and being a horse Roach should not have the hurdling issues that he does with some basic obstacles like rocks and felled trees. Regardless of these, the game is as close to perfect as you'll ever see. This game will be the measuring stick for RPGs for years to come.

Poor static open world, you can only move between keypoints/story points, and get exp for same quests (go -> check -> kill) to open new story quests (to move between keypoints and so on). Second the movements are quite unresponsive, especially in the water, but thankfully you don't have to stay in water if you choose not to. The horse movement is even worse, random and sudden stops, which is extremely annoying., similar to geralts stopping for a fight if you are constantly trying to run away from enemies. I'm not mentioning frame drops, and technical stuff, because it's been mentioned many times. So with all the criticisms over, I wont get too much why it is very good game, but I will let you know that even though its fictional, the reason why its good is because it;s believable, people are believable as wells as their stories, the world is believable as well. It's very maturely executed overall and that what has been missing for quite some time in gaming world. It is certainly a game that will be remembered for a long time, and I would definitely recommend even if you're not an RPG fan (like myself). Expand

I gave it the benefit of the doubt, heard the positive reviews, and waited until after multiple patches, before I judged. Witcher 3 has ultimately bad controls and poor combat besides the in-game card game Gwent, the gameplay is not good. Simply moving your static character (Geralt or Ciri) is a chore. He constantly feels like he is stepping over his feet or lost in the mood, never natural (and this doesn't change after hours of playing). His c button to loot constant random stuff around him is often unintuitive. And these poor controls bleed deeply into the combat- hit boxes are irrelevant, dodging is pointless, there are two button making swings and that's it, victory is determined based on your level, difficulty setting, or inventory management (the last of which I could respect if any other principals of gameplay combat were also accounted for). And I will say that all of these mechanics are much more poorly executed in Witcher 3 than in last year's Dragom Age Inquisition. To top it all off there are still glitches galore, main missions are rendered incompletable because the character can't examine the red stuff that he is supposed to be able to examine. So you're just like what's the point. This is hardly a game. If you want a medieval soap opera fantasy, just watch game of thrones on HBO. Expand

Tons of variety when it comes to enemies.
There's other activities besides the main quests and side quests such as Gwent, the fictional card game that plays like Magic: the gathering, and horse races.

The witcher contracts are easily the coolest part of the game IMO. They remind me of the TV show CSI, only.....if CSI was set in a fantasy version of the 1200's.

The bad: While the combat is fun the controls take some getting used to. The combat is also fairly shallow when compared to games like Skyrim or WoW--you mostly button-mash to hack away at enemies and use magic ("Signs") to supplement the swordplay. You cannot use magic alone to fight monsters. The companion AI is kind of dumb like it is in many games, but thankfully there are few escort missions in the game.

Also you'll find your horse and occasionally your character getting "caught up" on obstacles which can be distracting.

The ugly: glitches up the ass!! Even after 3 or 4 patches there is still just about every type of glitch you can imagine in this game. The most noticeable and frequent glitch you'll notice is pop-in. It's forgivable, but it really is distracting and sort of breaks the otherwise fantastic illusion of a real breathing world the game creates.

The reason I rated it a 9 is because I have minor issues with the combat mechanics and it is difficult to quickly earn money, but that's no biggie. At least I can save whenever and wherever I want unlike Bloodbored...hahaha.

A rich and surprisingly deep open-world RPG. A solid central story line, but also lots of well-crafted side missions that stand on their own a lot better than those from similar games like Skyrim. Fast travel only works from sign posts which is a minor annoyance.

I loved the Witcher 3 for about 12 hours, it's graphics are beautiful, the storyline is interesting but definitely confusing if you haven't played the others, at times I had no idea what was going on (I hadn't, but I decided to watch a video on youtube that gives you an abridged version), the atmosphere is great and overall, I couldn't fault it.
However, after my initial honeymoon period I became bogged down with the clunky combat, at times it's great, but inconsistent. It does become an absolute mess if you have more than 4 enemies targeting you. Over time my interest in the characters began to wane, I really didn't care less about their plight. The final nail in the coffin was spending my time completing the most inane quests that were all pretty much identical. It suffers from GTA4 syndrome, where all of the quests seem to be go to point A, kill / rescue someone, go to point B. Repeat. It was this monotony that made me quit before I wasted any more of my life on dull quests. I really wanted to like the game, but I fell into the trap of just playing it or the sake of it, and not actually enjoying the experience. Not for me. There are more exciting and visceral games out there. Play those.

The Witcher 3 is a mixed bag of awesome-sauce & mediocre swordplay. The graphics and overall presentation of the game is excellent; The Witcher 3 is possibly one of the best-looking games of the new generation, and definitely the best-looking medieval-era, sword-combat RPG-action type of game on PS4. In comparison, it makes Dragon Age Inquisition look awful! However, there is an overwhelming focus on cut-scenes, lore, talking with NPC's & making decisions, and so the core gameplay--the combat--often feels..well..not good. It seems that the combat took a back-seat to the rest of the game's elements. TW3 excels in story-telling and in its world's design. The "world" of TW3 is absolutely stunning; there is so much to explore and there is so much variance in the world's design, from the different landscapes, the countless and colorful personalities of the NPC's, right down to the weather and lighting effects; it all makes for a stunning visual experience.
The main thing--and one of the only things--that I don't like about TW3 is that the combat just doesn't feel satisfying at all. For example, only a half-hour after I had just slayed a huge Griffon monster, I'm in White Orchard getting my arse kicked by little blue swamp creatures! While it looks good, the overall balance of the combat mechanics and the enemies' movements & health in this game are a confusing mess. Many people say it's best to play on a harder difficulty setting, but I've found problems with that as well.
There are four difficulty settings available at the start; many fans have said that in order to get the best experience, one should play on "Blood & Broken Bones" difficulty, which is the second hardest. I've tried playing through the first quarter of the game on both "Sword & Story" and "Blood & Broken Bones" settings and I found there's a huge difference between the two. On the latter/harder setting, even the enemies early in the game--such as the blue swamp monsters--will totally kick your ass, whereas on the "Sword & Story" setting, you can slice through ten of them without taking any damage! For me, it was very hard to find a sweet-spot in the difficulty settings where I could enjoy a challenge and not be dying "cheap" deaths constantly. Hopefully the balance of the game has improved since last played it. Again, please note I haven't played it since the big patch, which added some things (like loot chests) and other tweaks.
Aside from having some pretty lackluster combat, The Witcher 3 is a good game overall, and I especially love all the references to Eastern European monsters & folklore. Also, you know hundreds of thousands of gamers (who love this game) can't be wrong when they say it's a great game, or even a GOTY. There is so much to do in TW3, it could possibly keep you busy for a hundred hours or more. It's definitely a game worth a try, but if you prefer combat over lore and stories, you'll probably get bored fast. However, if you love a good lore-heavy RPG with lots of deep and interesting stuff to explore, loot, and learn about the world--which is incredibly large--then this is your game!

After i spent around 110 hours in this masterpiece i was finally able to beat the game! I know that i was a bit too late to play this game (almost 2 years) but i was finally able to play it! I have always been a fan of rpgs, i felt in love with games like skyrim and fallout, the freedom and the sense of building your own character and create your story were the highlights in those games, but since the witcher is a rpg were you roleplay as Geralt and not a character that you create i was always with a step back on buying it, but now i have 0 regrets!

Now lets talk about what made me love this game. First of all its characters, never in my life i have been so emotionally connected to fictional characters in video games! I actually cared for Ciri, Geralt, and the fate of his friends! Actually it is the first time in a video game that made me cry, i have never tought that this game was so emotional, especially after you find ciri! The protagonist, Geralt of Rivia, is a wonderful character, i really enjoyed his personality! The world is gorgeous, and huge! The side quests are very interesting and not fetch quests like major open world games, it is not like "go to point A and kill those monsters", the quests are very more complex than that and the decisions you make (that are hard as **** there is no good and evil) have a huge impact in the world! The soundtrack is outstanding, since skyrim that i have not played a game with such a gorgeous soundtrack! The combat system is simple but effective i always loved to rely on my signs like quen and aard! The armors are very well designed!
And now i will talk about some other matters that i didn't apreaciate in this game (that are very few) but enought to not give a 10 to this game. First of all the skill tree, i didn't really liked, i think that we were very limited to just have 4 skills trees, the combat, the signs (my favourite), the alchemy (i didn't apreciated it though :/ ) and general, if we compare it to skyrim this is very limited, but i somewhat understand it since here we play as geralt, a witcher, not some mage, thief, assassin etc. And the other factor is that it wasn't very natural to me to been doing the side quests and play gwent since we were on a desesperate mission trying to find Ciri, so it means besides the importance of Geralt task to find Ciri he always had some free time to collect some cards or do some monster contracts. xD

In the end it was such an amazing experience, after i beat the game i felt such an emptiness inside because i was really going to miss Geralt adventures and his pals Dandelion and Zoltan, i think that i will starT reading the books to envolve even more in this lore! One of the best Rpgs that i have ever played, in pair with Skyrim ( diferent games but both amazing!), congrats to CdProjeck Red for making such a masterpiece! Next station: Cyberpunk 2077 :)

I have spend a good 6-7 hours just finding cards and building a deck/decks and I still have a lot of work to do to get even my first deck how I want it/completed. There are 4 different types of decks and so far I only have one full deck, and as I said I still have room for improvement on that first deck. That's it.

There was a negative aspect of the game sure, but to over look every thing else this game provides for something most, if not all games have issues with; is ridiculous.

I haven't played any other Witcher game so i cant say what they improved on.

Camera? Combat? I haven't had a problem with any of these things.
-Annoying dorky voice- i have played demon souls, dark souls, dark souls 2, monster hunter since psp to recent 3ds, -normal voice- and the **** Arkham series.
In comparison to these games........Witcher has both a challenging combat system and smooth camera control.

"ROLL ROLL ROLL" is what most reviewers are saying about the game. No, you still get hit from rolling uncontrollably that's why there's an option to actually dodge/parry which is honestly more rewarding than rolling. I dont know how the game plays on Easy but that COULD be the reason why people who say they've played " dark souls...etc" say its "easy, annoying or boring."

The game plays more like a realistic open world game. Locations don't have level restricted monsters, you have to prepare for everything from bombs to concoctions or skills (level) and equipment.

Its fun, diverse, challenging, immersive and lastly gorgeous.

I would rate 10/10, but loading time really bothers me :-/ .

My only other gripe is the endings for Geralt and Ciri I got were awful, when combined. Granted, I got the worst ones. But it literally made me feel like all the time I spent playing the game was wasted. And only because I made a couple decisions toward the end of the game. If I had gotten either of the other endings for them, I might have given this a 9. But, even though I made "wrong" decisions, they shouldn't completely ruin the ending like that.

Haha. Anyway, overall a really good game. Just need to get over my bitterness.

When, walking around it feels like you are trying to control a drunk character, when riding your horse you will constantly get stuck literally everywhere (fences, trees, bushes, sometimes you'll even get stuck on nothing), when fighting you'll feel like you don't have any control of your character moves at all, the camera in the fights is so bad that you will have to constantly manage the camera angle while fighting, and the movements are so awkward (plus you'll notice a huge frame rate drop during fights). All around combat is just pathetic and unsatisfying....just awkward and rubber-ish/drunkish.
It's really just this control thing which is ruining the game that could have an enormous potential as an action rpg. Between a rage quit here and there because of bad controls and some really epic moments, I am unsure whether turning this game back to the store to purchase another one or keep on trying....

Given that and the repetitive format of the quests, it starts feeling a bit grindy even early on, which is made worse by the fact that a lot of your time is spent riding around on your horse trying to get from one quest to another. It does have nice graphics and a solid story line, though, and I do find it entertaining. If you want an open-world rpg with great story, combat and just overall fun, then this game is a must. however, it is plagued with minor bugs that prohibit you from finishing certain quests; even going as much as saying you failed a quest even though it was done correctly and fully. Thus far, I have 3 quests that cannot be finished due to these bugs out of 30. Very annoying

I have read many reviews where people are panning this game for its controls being a bit difficult to get to grips with; whilst they could be a bit sharper let us not look past what this game is offering you, a true masterpiece that has it all for a game of its genre. Do not despair if you have not played the previous titles in this series as the back-story is well explained and this really could stand alone as a title all by itself. My advice....book some holiday, reserve yourself a long weekend because its one of those that you will play for 5 hours, think that you've had you fill, turn it off then before you know it that controller is calling you. The open world is mind blowing even bigger than Skyrim itself with an unbelievable amounts of content. You could search for treasures, hunt a rare monster, take up a random side-quest and much more. The combat is simple yet very strategic and that's what I like about this game especially for hardcore gamers it will be a joy. The levelling up grants skill points that will activate special abilities but you could only pick 12 skills which makes the game less easy to be overwhelmed by this gorgeous environment. You can make decisions that will affect the quest you are playing or even the communities. But it won't happen not that often. There is lots of crafting in this game. And you don't need to know the previous game to know the Witcher 3 story. So it won't be confusing

However I will have to nitpick the flaws of this game. The game is sexist in every way. You will see woman having sex multiple times. Geralt the main protagonist will have sex with other woman in the story than his beloved. Some of them are optional though. There will be prostitutes you can have sex with. And there will be soldiers cheering at the woman showing off her body. I am not a woman but I find that offensive.

Back to the game there is limited customisation and what I mean by that is the way you look. It is just the hair that affects you. There is limit diversity within this open world. I am only saying that since there has been complaints about it. There a lot of glitches that WILL affect your experience like the change of angle. This won't happen too often but it is guaranteed it will happen though. The main flaws is the story which isn't the worst one but isn't a great one either. The story will get boring in time but there is brilliant characters however there isn't a satisfying amount of great characters. These characters will be the only reason you will actually be playing the campaign especially in Velen. The villain is threatening and is quite menacing but not interesting though. The main character I thought was the worst character will be geralt who sounds like batman (which is totally unnecessary) you will only be interested in him is the background of his since he is a bounty-hunter which means he isn't a villain but neither a hero. However you can decide that. There isn't much gameplay freedom like different ways to kill enemies e.g. using magic( even though there are magic abilities which are limited) or stealth). The open world is not even that interactive as you cannot kill other villagers like in skyrim and you can't interrupt conversations or interact with the civilians around you much(even though this can happen but is very limited). You can only eavesdrop conversations.

final verdict: Brilliant (somewhat) interactive open world, lots of content with a decent story filled with limited brilliant characters. With some glitches (which will be sorted in the future). I would have given this game an eight but due to sexism in this game and lack of diversities which lead me to give this game a seven. It is highly recommended though.

You getting easily bored to see always the same faces. The graphics could have been better, still a shame with lots games for PS4. I missed a better prologue within the quests, special after you have already spoken to the person instead you hear always " what do you want" a bit lame for my taste. The quests are good as well for the story some of it special with some characters from the past, because you find it out after you meet the person. So it's sometimes hart do understand what happened in his past if you have not played the first and second game.
Next would be that it takes quite long to build up your abilities, takes ages to gain points at the start.
To follow up the story you have to sort out the secondary quest as well, because if you don't something is not more available later because you are above the level you reached, so you get easy lost to do that.
Weapons and Amor nice that you can get those, somehow. You need to search all over the map to find those diagrams to get them as well you need to find the blacksmith to make them, so you are again back in line to find those, in the meantime you are able to build up your level and when you found the blacksmith, your level is above the amor that you will need to find the enhanced diagrams. So this can be a pain, as well you have to wait to get to a certain level to do that quest to get those diagrams. Or you cannot kill the creatures because your level is to low???? Most of Velen are to high on your level to fight as well in Skyling? Sorry if it is wrong!! But if you looking for Ciri there, is a lot that you actually cannot help to solve quests to earn money because again" your level is to low! So not much you can do just run away. And go back later.
So i missed a bit more in that game, i still playing it so i hope i don't lose the fun before quitting it because it gets boring. Well there is a lot to do and to explore that is nicely done, no comments about that. But i still miss something somehow. I know everyone is different and has other expectations to like a good game, but this is not the best sorry! Not close to skyrim or oblivion, those are great games. I like that it is a story of witchers and sorcerer as well have some nude scene with lovestory in it.
It would have been great if there have put more details in this game, more character more options more prologue.

I would have helped her willingly if she had told me the truth from beginning but she instead tried to trick me. I got angry when I knew what was going on and I had a serious argument with her that led to a fight between us. Then happened what happened!

This was part of my experience from one of the wicther's side quests that I described for you(you might have a different experience of course!) Here I will list some of the pros and cons of this game:

    pros:
    1-good story
    2-entertaining side quests
    3-well written characters
    4-big open world

    cons
1-there are tons of ingredients that makes it hard for you to pick the appropriate ones for crafting a specific item so you have no way other than picking everything you see in the environment blindly(it might be of use somewhere!)

2-some missions are boring. you must just walk from place A to B and talk to different people.
    3-the game is too buggy.
4-althogh there is a variety of enemies in the game the way you must fight them is more or less the same.

overall I recommend playing this game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think we can all agree that this year has been an amazing year for video games so far. I think we can also agree that, with this in mind, no-one expected The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to blow mainstream role playing games out of the water. The game features some simple RPG mechanics (level up, receive skills, create a suitable build) however I don't think any other game alike has caused me to think and adapt, especially in the Blood and Broken Bones! and Death March! difficulties where you are limited in such a way that you cannot heal when meditating. During my travels I'd often get distracted while bee-lining it to a quest location to the extent where I'd spend forty minutes lost in the wilderness while on the way to complete a simple Witcher contract. The quests don't even feel like quests but mini adventures. In fact, I don't think I've come across a single ordinary do-here-fetch-this-come-back quest and that is saying something if we're speaking generic RPG here.
Proclaimed YouTube reviewer Angry Joe states that 'the story is on par with that of Game of Thrones' and I definitely agree. The main story begins like nothing special where Geralt is trying to find his love of yore and upon finding her is immediately sent out to find the girl he raised, Ciri. The story picks up extremely fast as soon as Geralt meets Triss, another of his previous lovers in the city of Novigrad, which feels like it's about as large as a country in itself. The game's release came with some unwanted, bugs and glitches which, usually, wouldn't phase me but upon buying the PS4 version I suffered a game-breaking glitch where I'd get stuck at a never-ending loading screen. This has since been patched but receives a mention because of it's prior existence.
The Witcher 3: Wild hunt makes for a beautiful, vibrant change in the RPG genre and I hope to see some newer video games take the concepts this game has introduced up-in-arms to forge an all new RPG genre.

Most of all in this game I enjoyed Storyline. One thing disappointed me, some things were similar to Dragon age:inquisition. So the game was not innovational as it should had to be. Also Witcher 3: Wild hunt loses its gameplay at its finest if you don't choose last game mode(Death march). Other modes just give you experience to enjoy only landscapes and trees. Also FPS sometimes drops.

'Whoreson Jnr' and the 'Baron's wife' were atrocious stories, and Roach (The Horse) and Crossbow, cheapened Geralt's image. Finally, what is with beards, for game heroes? Do you play as an old man? Nonetheless, game has it's downsides and they are mostly technical.

The combat system feels rubber-bandy, I feel like it's not up to me to control the character, the responsiveness could also be an issue. It seems like it's supposed to feel like combat it Batman, but it doesn't quite do the job.

There are many noticeable fps drops and collision glitches, which is an effect to complex geometry and big world.

The most important thing it the interface, which is slow, over-complicated (the mini map is helpful though), and the thing that bugs me is that world map is not directly accessible, but requires two steps to perform.

The open world is pretty interesting, though. And the game itself looks stunning. The combat system is pretty rusty. There's really no point having the dodge mechanic when you can just spam the attack button and get things done quicker. The story is pretty interesting, but I really wanted to get involved in the Nilfgaard vs Redania war.

Fantastic side quest that evolves into something more like no other games manage. The music, graphics and scenery are breathtaking... An magical journey from start to finish.

I thought the game was beautiful, but there was something about it that just didn't do it for me.
While the game has set the standard in play and beautiful background, with deep sea diving, gorgeous detail, and beautiful scenery, the storyline itself was a little off. Every one of the characters seem a little cold. Yennifer, Triss, etc. The only warmth came from Ciri and then not really.

IT just wasn't that satisfying of a game to play.
In all honesty, I liked DAI a lot better.

My previous gaming experiences were a decade ago. But this is one of my favorite PS4 Purchases so far. New to the RPG genre but this has been pretty easy to get the hang of. The graphics are amazing, open world rewarding, and side quests easy to find to fill the space between main game.

Western RPGs (WRPGs) normally have a very basic and short main plot, with the majority of the game comprised of unrelated subplots, side quests, and exploration. The Witcher 3 isn't different here, but improves on most of this when compared to past WRPGs. But it's far from perfect and likely won't change the minds of people who aren't fans of the genre.

The side activities take up the vast majority of the game. This is definitely a game for people who want to roam about in an open world, exploring and doing random tasks for its population. As someone who doesn't like these sort of activities, I actually had a great time during the first 10 hours of doing this. Saving villages, finding hidden treasure, and hunting down monsters while going place to place in my quest to get information on my daughter (the main quest) was great. But there's only so many different side activities, and they're eventually repeated, several times.

What immersed me during those first hours is that the world is more real than most WRPGs I've played. The NPCs, while not very talkative, did a good job convincing me that they lived in the world. Quest givers would interrupt me and give me convincing reasons why I should help them. And all of this was taking place while I was on the main quest to obtain information, so all side activities felt like they were potentially useful for that purpose. This is opposed to other WRPGs were you have an urgent main quest, but it's somehow put on hold whenever you feel like doing side quests.

The other WRPG I played most recently is Dragon Age Inquisition. To compare the two: The side content in The Witcher 3 is much more interesting, but just about anything is more interesting than Dragon Age Inquisition's boring and inconsequential fetch quests. The world is simply more believable and feels less like developers randomly made up things or plopped down monsters on an evenly-spaced grid. The protagonist is much more believable since he's a set character and not a blank-slate made up by the player.

As I became bored of the side content, I focused more on the main plot: finding your daughter, and the things that come afterwards. It's mostly believable, but it's an average drama at best. At least it doesn't immediately thrust us into a "save the world from the bad guy with stupid motivations" plot. This is better than most video game stories, but isn't up to par with the best that video games have to offer. You might be disappointed if you're looking for a story with deeper meaning or something comparable to the best fiction that humanity has to offer.

All characters are fully voice acted. Unfortunately, all of the voice actors aren't equally good, so if you're one of the few who can point out bad voice actors, you'll find a few here. It's also a bit jarring when most characters use a British accent, but some large roles are played by people with cartoon-quality American accents.

Combat is fully action-based and isn't amazing. It's serviceable, but clunky. I never felt like I had accurate control of my character, and primarily resorted to spamming the same attack with an occasional spell. And that's really all you need to complete the game on the normal difficulty level.

The in-game menus are slow, swimming is horribly clunky, and horse riding is about as good as the combat. The game doesn't feel very polished and it can really hurt the immersion for some.

And then there's the bugs. This is the buggiest PS4 game I've experienced. Clipping models during cut scenes, invisible swords/gloves, dialogue overlapping, monster corpses with required quest items on them disappearing, getting stuck, full game crashes, and load of other issues that really hurt immersion for me. Well, at least the automatic 10-minute autosave comes in handy, so I never lost much progress.

And one last thing that really bugged me: The mini map. The game's navigation and quests depend on it. You're rarely told where a monster is or your next quest objective is. NPCs seem to know that you have a magical map that tells you exactly where everything is, complete with a dotted line that shows you the quickest path to take. It wouldn't be so bad if I could ignore it, but it's simply not possible. You receive so little information from NPCs that you'll never find out where to go unless you follow the mini map. Just count this as another thing that takes away from the game's immersion.

So, this is likely an amazing game for WRPG fans, or for those who easily become addicted to side content in open worlds. But for me, I found it to be a slightly above average experience.

its still worth a buy if u havent already, and especially if u get it cheap. but to be honest don't expect miracles- its good to see the story through. but i really think the hype is way overdone for this one.

There are a handful of technical flaws, but given how large and ambitious the game world is it's acceptable to see a few graphical tics. Skill trees aren't as good as they could be; you can only level up your signs which aren't hugely important in the long run anyway and you'll never level up enough times to get to where you want to be with them either. Eventually this game went on sale and because of the extremely positive reception I decided to give it a try. I didn't regret buying this game and would've bought it at launch for the full price. I'll start off by explaining the gameplay. This game is easily one of the best RPGs I have ever played, and for me, it's easily better than Skyrim. The voice acting is superb. The animation is amazing. The story is intriguing. The characters have personality. The maps are well designed. The quests all feel different. The game is amazing but as much as I praise the game I do have problems with it. My biggest gripe with the game, which made me not play it after a while, is the loading screens. The loading screens in the game are massive. I was doing a quest in the game which involved hunting down a werewolf, seems easy enough. Well werewolfs happen to be extremely hard enemies to face, but that was not my problem. My problem was that every time I died I ended up going through one of the game's loading screens. Due to me being extremely determined to finish this quest I ended up dying a lot, which in turn, meant more loading screens. There was some annoying narrative at the beginning of the loading screens, which got annoying really quickly. This ended up with me getting sick of this and quitting the game all together. I haven't found the motivation to open the game again and end up playing till the end, but from what I saw of the game, I can confidently say that, if you are a fan of RPGs and games like Skyrim, this game is for you. This game would've been my game of the year if I wasn't such a Soulsborne fanboy. 9/10 too many loading screens 4 me. Expand

They hate you offering your services, and detest you even more when they part with their hard-earned coin. Your mere appearance, it seems, is but to weigh heavy on their soul. With such a depressing outlook, it’s a wonder CD Projekt’s pièce de résistance isn’t one big sad slog, but quite the opposite. The Witcher hosts a vibrant world brimming with opportunity, you need only stagger your way around to see it all.

As someone long weary of fetch quests and open-world nonsense, to be as enamored as I am with this game is somewhat of a miracle. Wrapped in mystique, I’m eager to explore every arcane cranny. An ominous hole? Better believe I’m going down there for what could be as little reward as a loaf of bread. Appropriately, ‘wild’ is the word I’d use to best describe the massive world of Temeria. The harsh, windswept landscape feels anything but safe, bringing with it treasure, beasts and happenstance which could see you stashing a new bit of steel, or assertively pirouetting over a cliff.

Among its many creatures, hazardous fish-men ‘Drowners’ roam both land and sea, scratching at your heels as you pop down to explore that one last chest, wreck, or – as it turns out – three-storied Temerian Atlantis. It’s a land lived-in and a seamless melding of scene, weather and soundscape that brings forth a magnificent and detailed melancholy, the mood and intimacy of The Last of Us mixed with the beauty and breadth of Red Dead Redemption.

A simple stroll shows just how beautiful Temeria must have been before the war. Sweeping hills, plunging valleys and more than one glorious sunset still lighten the landscape, but the earth is now stained with blood from battles not long fought; overturned carriages litter the back roads, and lynched corpses sway quietly in the breeze – a warning – the shoes-on-the-power-line of this world.

It’s strange then that a team could build to such heights yet erect the foundations in a bog. Plagued by clunkiness, movement in The Witcher 3 feels like parkour through molasses – weighty and frustrating in equal measure. Never have I been more aware of gravity than prancing the coastline to only seconds later be met with an untimely demise, courtesy of what must’ve been a slippery ledge or perhaps an overly oily pair of boots? Keen to check that chest on the bluff? Get ready to amble tentatively and god help you if you overcompensate in acceleration – you’ll be eating more dirt than a Rock Troll. To afford a humanoid the weight and steering of a dual-skid catamaran is both bold and baffling, and it’s unfortunate that the plethora of boats littering the numerous lakes, seas and Temeria’s main river the Pontar, already pushes The Witcher well over its quota of maritime vessels. Sadly, there’s just no room for the S.S. Geralt.

To further **** this sandwich, The Witcher comes with one of the most ruthless fall damage systems I’ve seen. Anything more than a small drop and you’re a crumpled husk. It’s as if CD Projekt Red had a delayed reaction to the Crouching Tiger-like jumping of Bethesda’s Oblivion and set out to create the most grounded RPG imaginable, literally.

Fortunately, this kind of weight translates well to combat. Everything from a quick slash to a flashy upward arc feels both powerful and hefty. Enemies come with a reasonable head on their shoulders, and bandits, pirates or any of the numerous creatures will rally, mob and use their numbers to cut you down before you can get your own in. If respected, the combat system can give way to some excitingly grim finishers: an above waist vivisection, a kneeling decapitation or a grand height reduction by way of a sweeping kick… with a sword. Keep a quick dodge at the ready, and you’ll be lopping off legs in no time.

For the most part, The Witcher is astonishingly beautiful and without doubt, one of the best looking games on the PS4. So good are the visuals that it feels a disservice to any more than lightly jog the streets of its largest city, Novigrad, for all the things you may miss. Unfortunately, such a detailed palette has it slightly outreach its technical grasp. Load times are lengthy (prepare to pop the jug on should you die) and frames do take a dive in the more detailed and intensive areas such as Crookback Bog. The game also suffers from a team adjusting to mucking about on consoles. The UI is cumbersome, and the inventory: a grid-based system with egregiously small type. It may work on PC, but all that squinting and rummaging can quickly become tiresome without a mouse.

But, it’s an easy trade and The Witcher’s achievements far outweigh its missteps. The cast of characters is massive and always interesting. Individuals come pre-packaged with their own fears, loves, motivations and hatreds (you, mainly) and this affords a decent whack of nuance to side quests whilst aiding in the helix questing system – strands of adventures

The Witcher 3's subject matter, its almost defiant doubling down on its treatment of women as titillating props for Geralt and the player, even as it tries to flesh out more female leads, is its most disappointing aspect. This constant presence weighs down what would otherwise be an excellent bit of closure for Geralt's video game saga — which isn't helped by the control issues that often detract from sequences meant to break up open-world monotony.
