    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was standing near Keira's soulless body starring at her face wondering why it all happened this way. I would have helped her willingly if she had told me the truth from beginning but she instead tried to trick me. I got angry when I knew what was going on and I had a serious argument with her that led to a fight between us. Then happened what happened!

    This was part of my experience from one of the wicther's side quests that I described for you(you might have a different experience of course!) Here I will list some of the pros and cons of this game:

    pros:
    1-good story
    2-entertaining side quests
    3-well written characters
    4-big open world

    cons
    1-there are tons of ingredients that makes it hard for you to pick the appropriate ones for crafting a specific item so you have no way other than picking everything you see in the environment blindly(it might be of use somewhere!)

    2-some missions are boring. you must just walk from place A to B and talk to different people.
    3-the game is too buggy.
    4-althogh there is a variety of enemies in the game the way you must fight them is more or less the same.

    Combat is fun and exciting and lets you go in a lot of different directions. Questing is extensive and the map is littered with points of interest. Story line is interesting and keeps you on your toes by not holding to cliche's as much as it could (i love a quest that turns out to have unexpected consequences).     Only problem I had with the game is if you are a obsessive side quest completer like myself, you will become godlike and the game breaks a bit and you have to go out of your way to find monsters that are a challenge. You'll also exhaust yourself and eventually just want to plow through to the finish to "get it over with". You don't have to complete every little thing and I think had I taken that approach earlier on I wouldn't have grown somewhat bored with the game before i finished it. Quests become a bit more of a checklist. Kill the griffin, check, kill the bog monster, check, kill the Basalisk, check.

    That is my only real complaint, had the quests kept up with my level a bit more and not become a chore it would have gotten a 9 or 10. As is, amazing game, but you feel like you leave something behind when a quest says level 8 and you are already 23 and just walking through the daisies.    … Expand

    Most of all in this game I enjoyed Storyline. One thing disappointed me, some things were similar to Dragon age:inquisition. So the game was not innovational as it should had to be. Also Witcher 3: Wild hunt loses its gameplay at its finest if you don't choose last game mode(Death march). Other modes just give you experience to enjoy only landscapes and trees. Also FPS sometimes drops.

    One of the best adventure/ role playing games I have ever played. Incredible combat system makes it skill that wins battles, not just button-bashing. You'll spend 80+ hours going through this game.... until you finish the quests... then there is literally nothing left to do... I mean not a thing! But still 80+, I regret nothing.

    I wanted so badly give a 10 for this one. But I just simply can't. Let's see why.
    The game does so many things right, like many have said it before me. It' great.
    I love the setting, combat is awesome and the difficulty is just right (death march). If you prepare and know what you are doing, it is almost easy. If you do not take combat seriously, do not use potions / oils / decotions, forget to dodge or parry, you die in seconds. I love the combat.
    The story is very good, the quests are awesome, none of them are the same, the witcher contracts maybe a little repetitive, but not so much and I enjoyed all and every one of them.
    And the little things where imho W3 is shining the most. For example: slayed enemies loot is on the map, lootable containers are highlighted, route to the next objective on the map, books, tons of background info, living cities, dudes go even to sleep and **** Awesome.
    I love, that my actions have consequences. I love, that some quests have no good endings, just worse or even worse.
    But the best part is in my opinion, ***** SPOILER ALERT! ***** how you help Ciri grow as a person (if you do it right) and in the end, how it saves her life. Priceless. SPOILER OVER.
    But there are some things, I can not accept, even some things I hate. What are those? Let's see.
    1. Gwent. I hate it. Simple is that. Right now i am in my second run, death march. I am the kind of guy, who loves get all of the trophies / achievements of a game, IF the game is good / awesome. This one is. Then why the F must i play gwent?!?! I signed up for an adventure, not virtual poker crappy.
    2. Missable trophies / achievements. Come on, guys! Not cool.
    3. Geralt Glassbones. Enough said.
    4. ****ty camera. Died many times, because in the heat of the combat, the camera showed the wall, or the treetops. Really frequently happens indoors. In death march you are 3-4 hits. And ... You are gone. Then you can "enjoy" the ~90 sec loading time.
    5. Loading time. Just too much.
    6. F*ing Finneas on death march. Amateur, disappointing game balance problem. Harder than a griffin, harder than cyclops or a forktail, well anything I encountered so far. Come on! Just WHY ?!? Make no mistake, I going to beat him, just makes a 1000 pound monster a joke. Or 10 bandit. Or a smaller army.
    OR, dear developers, You could have name him Chuck Norris, this way it is completely understandable, why he is harder, than a f*ing dragon.

    As You could have guessed, my dear reader, right now I am at Mr. Overpowered Finneas. If I give in to my anger, this would be a big fat 0. Or -10. But this game is really awesome, especially the Ciri parts, and her growth, but this is not a perfect game. Awesome one, with flaws. Without the whole gwent **** I would have gave it a 9. Right now this is 8. For me. Still, go and buy it, because Witcher 3 is still better than almost all other games nowadays. Cheers.

    Ill be simple: We have a wonderful masterpiece of game, one of the best of this gen, but honestly i didn't enjoy it a lot but its was truely amazing game and best CD projekt red game.

    É um bom jogo! História cheia de detalhes, algumas batalhas frenéticas e muito sobrenatural! O personagem é carismático e gráficos/ambientação são excelentes. Pra mim o ponto negativo seria a mecânica de combate, achei um pouco travada.

    Good game but sometimes combat can be a pain. This is very different to elder scrolls. I felt also there should have been more side quests with civilians. The graphics though are freaking amazing!!!! I would buy it for $30 or so.

    So uh, Witcher 3. Good game. And, look, I'm going to judge the game based on what I am: a middle-aged guy with other things to do. Like, lots of other things, like a job and my second degree that I'm working on and a lawn and yelling at neighbor kids who ride their bikes on my lawn and stuff. Yeah, I don't care if it's just a corner of my lawn, Christ. Ride out in the goddamn street. Where were you kids born, Jerusalem?

    Anyway. So here's what I like about Witcher 3:

    Graphics are stunning. Some of the most enjoyable moments are standing in the wilderness, slowly panning the camera around Geralt, looking at the scenery. Wind blowing through his majestic hair. Under your breath, mumbling, "nerr nerr nerr NERRRR nerr nerrr nerr NAAH NERR NUUHNNN." That's the intro to Creed's "My Sacrifice" by the way. Maybe you weren't actually doing this but I was. Not because I thought it was a good song but, you know, stuff gets caught in your head sometimes. Look, shut up.

    And uh. Actually the graphics were the only thing I REALLY liked about this game. Yeah hey, look, no, I know. The story is really in-depth, the map is MASSIVE. Attention to detail, 10/10. But this is a game for people who can plunge into the experience and stay there for hours and hours or days on end. This isn't a criticism of the game, but if you're reading this and you're a 40-ish dude (but I'm sure you could totally pull of early 30s, really) with a bunch of other obligations, you need to know you're not going to appreciate this the same way ol' Weedy Joe in Colorado can during his 48 hour Doritos-Sponsored WitcherBingers.

    No, instead I found myself loading it up after a long workday, after my workout routine, after doing homework, and then spending the first half-hour trying to remind myself what armor and swords were on my to-do list to upgrade, and then figuring out which main quest or side quest I wanted to pursue. Right about that time it suddenly occurred to me it was about time to go the hell to bed because I had to wake up at 5am for work because somewhere in the past decade or so, against my realistic wishes, I became a goddamn adult.

    Look, it happens. You don't mean it to. You want to pretend you'll always be the version of yourself that can load a bowl with one hand and build a TF2 sentry with the other with seamless beauty. But you won't, man.

    You just won't.

    So for most of you, hit it. Enjoy. Sally-effing-forth. But for me, this game was too big, too much. Dare I say: Too Good. I'll still give it an 8 though.

    Also, why does everything that Geralt yells at his horse sound like softcore porn? SUH-LOOWWW NOW. UHHHHH. FASTER!! THESE FEELINGS DEEP DOWN, THEY A-SCARE-A ME, SWEET THANG. It's weird. It's just weird, I tell you.    … Expand

    Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's high point is in the quality of its story and its well written quests. It truly succeeds in presenting well thought out quests with well written characters who you grow to care about.

    That being said, to give this game higher than an 8/10 I feel would be to overlook some of its more major flaws. The game packs a more expansive experience than other Western RPGs,    Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's high point is in the quality of its story and its well written quests. It truly succeeds in presenting well thought out quests with well written characters who you grow to care about.

    That being said, to give this game higher than an 8/10 I feel would be to overlook some of its more major flaws. The game packs a more expansive experience than other Western RPGs, but after playing it for a while you'll notice how the game loses some of its potency in the process. Unlike Skyrim and Fallout games, which set quests far off in still as of yet unexplored lands, the quests in this game more often than not involve you fetching items some 100 yards away, or running 50 yards away to smash a button against a somewhat underwhelming beast. To add to the banality of the experience, the quests often use the same sort of structure with different characters substituted in. This results in an eventual boredom with the game that isn't helped by the uneventful, button smashing combat system.

    Another flaw about this game is in the fickleness of its controls. A lot of the time the Witcher will be standing right next to an item that for some reason he cannot grab despite your pressing the pop-up button. The lock-on system in combat is also unnecessarily problematic. The game eventually dissimilates into a choice machine supplemented by short stints of boring combat.

    All in all, the good features of this game need hardly be repeated. However, it does seem to be a somewhat overrated game, especially taking into account its inability to provide compelling combat gameplay.    … Expand

    Очень спорная игра с большой кучей минусов и плюсов. Есть неплохая завязка для сюжета, есть большой открытый мир и гг с интересной историей. Не понятно по чьей вине большинство плюсов перечеркивают эти же минусы. Мир большой, но исследовать его после пары часов игры не хочется, сюжет к концу скатывается в примитивщину, а боевка, которая по сравнению с прошлыми частями выглядит большимОчень спорная игра с большой кучей минусов и плюсов. Есть неплохая завязка для сюжета, есть большой открытый мир и гг с интересной историей. Не понятно по чьей вине большинство плюсов перечеркивают эти же минусы. Мир большой, но исследовать его после пары часов игры не хочется, сюжет к концу скатывается в примитивщину, а боевка, которая по сравнению с прошлыми частями выглядит большим скачком вперед, все такая же кривая и топорная. На 3 уровне сложности из-за Руны "квен" становится очень легко играть и почти никакой противник не представляет угрозы. Но сценаристы поработали на славу, практически каждый новый квест приводит к неожиданным последствиям и зачастую к нескольким вариантам решения. Музыка не то что плохая, от нее просто клонит в сон. Игра вполне заслуживает звания RPG, хоть и в большинстве случаев у нас 2 варианта ответа, но если учитывать, в каком состоянии сейчас находится жанр, то и это сойдет.… Expand

    The game world itself is massive, the content is non other than exceptional and definitely sets the bar for an RPG, the quest system is great and the choices given can at times make you think.
    The game will easily sink you in for over 100+ hours and this is just mainly doing the story and a few additional quests and exploration activities here and there.
    It's a great game but some the gameplay mechanics and systems aren't as smooth as I would have liked it to be.    … Expand

    Sin duda una obra maestra. De los pocos juegos que he visto que utilizan las misiones secundarias como principales, tiene un gran peso argumental en la trama incluso.
    Mi nota viene dada a que hay momentos que te pierdes por la cantidad tan inmensa de información que recibes en poco tiempo.

    Ótimo jogo, no começo me bati com a jogabilidade, a movimentação do personagem não é muito fluída. Após um tempo, me acostumei daí foi só alegria, gráficos excelentes, jogo bonito e história boa. As DLCs são excelentes também.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First I want to start by saying that I liked the game and I recommend it. However the game is overrated. First the main plot has no urgency, at one point in Valen I had no idea what the main plot was, the bad guys are all dark and stuff but they never seem actually threatening. Interest points are mostly useless as well as most treasures and even weapons you get as rewards, game mechanics for tracking get boring after you use them 100 times, some quests have been written poorly by someone who does not appear to have read a book in his/her life - mostly are ok though, skillege as an area was particularly lacking in story quality and was a pain to complete but not do to difficulty cause the game even on the hardest difficulty is incredibly easy and boss fight mechanics lack luster. I would give it 7/10
    However if you play the expansions the game is totally different, it looks like a totally different team has written the quests, more mature and richer, boss fights with actual mechanic and difficulty, moral choices that made me go back and do them differently because the more I thought about them the more it made me think about what I perceive as good or bad. The expansion itself is as close to 10/10 it can be.
    Do to the expansions I would say the game is maybe 8/10.    … Expand

If the game wanted to look realistic it could've still had Geralt in his stance but allow some freedom of movement anyway. This would make positioning more important like in games like Bloodborne for example. This game also has very little depth. Yes you have tons of bombs and oils that help in defeating monsters but Geralt never gets any new moves throughout the entire game. At least none that really change your playstyle in a meaningful way. Every weapon in the game has the same move set even if the weapon is completely different like a hatchet. it gets stale after awhile. Nevertheless the quest writing is superb and this game has a lot of great characters and world-building. So that alone is worth the price.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Juego inmersivo desde el principio con un mundo abierto increiblemente grande, toma de decisiones que afectan al futuro, misiones secundarias por doquier y una historia de 40 horas que se nos hara corta.
    Es un mundo, con su gente, y sus vidas y como tal es apasionante entrar en una ciudad y ver como la gente no para de hacer cosas, no eres tu quien tiene que mover el mundo para que sucedan cosas, por ejemplo, podemos ir en nuestro caballo en mitad del bosque y de repente nos encontramos a un grifo, si elegimos eliminarlo es posible que hayan una recompensa por su cabeza en pueblo cercano, eso esta bien porque hace que los enemigos no sean objetivos, si no animales que de verdad viven hay.
    Tambien tenemos el bestiario, en el cual se recoje la informacion de cada mounstro con el que nos encontramos y sus puntos deviles, hay entra el juego la alquimia, donde podemos hacer gran catidad de pociones, aceites o bombas especializadas en un mounstro en concreto, esto esta aun mejor, porque te hace sentir como un brujo de verdad.
    Hablando de los personajes, estos son carismaticos, tienen su propia seña de identidad, tienen su propia historia, sus preocupaciones ya que cuando acabamos sus respectivos arcos no nos olvidan, nos seguiran encomendando misiones, de este modo parece que de verdad estas conociendo personas y no solo trabajando en un contrato y ya.
    Lo malo de esta entrega, esque en ningun momento se nota que estamos en una carrera contra reloj por salvar a Ciri y eso de vez en cunado deja de sumergirte en la historia. / Tambien esta el hecho de que para hacer un tipo de aceite o pocion ya que esta muy desaprobechado, necesitas gran cantidad y variedad de ingredientes, y el juego no te incita a buscarlos por lo que optamos por opcion mas sencilla y tradicional. / El comerciar es demasido caro y no esque sea malo, si no que conseguir oro es demasiado dificil (en algunos contratos de brujo te pagan 25 de oro) / Los paisajes son preciosos pero despues de estar contemplandolos los primeros 20 minutos dejas de verlos y te centras en el minimapa y la direccion que te indican los puntos, otro apartado desaprobechado.
    Si te gustan mediana mente los juegos de Rol, las buenas historias con buenos personajes, sin preocuparte mucho de llevas y que ncesitas, este juego te puede interesar.    … Expand

    Some of the very best storytelling in an open-world game perhaps ever, but with shallow and often arbitrary gameplay that does not play to the game's strengths. I would absolutely rather this game have much better combat and navigation or be a Telltale style game that focuses 90% on the story because both would be better approaches than the "middle ground approach" the game currently takes.

Simply finding an item in the inventory can be frustrating because the menu responds slow and there is so much clutter in your bag space. Moving around in the game world can be clunky, as well. Geralt often gets stuck in awkward spots or doesn't do what you want him to do. Falling a meager 10 feet results in annoyingly weak death. In my playthrough, I completely stopped using the crossbow and bombs because the aiming was incredibly stiff. Now I must say that the boss fights were fun and satisfying, but most fights in the game can be won with brute force. I appreciated the diversity among enemy types and some were particularly interesting to read about. However, those harpies and sirens flew above me for minutes instead of decisively attacking, which was a waste of time and ruined the pace of the action. At the very end, I felt that the conclusion to this series was solid. 8/10.… Expand

    The best open world game I have ever played in my life.
    Story is amazing, graphics, atmosphere. Polish masterpiece !

    Um bom jogo, porém extrmamente overated. Os sistemas de gameplay ,a necesessidade de seguir um caminho pre estabelecido no game e alguns problemas de falta de polimento tiram o brilho do principal: a lore. A quest principal vejo como bem mediana, mas certas sides , como a do barao sao fenomenais.

Not only the main storyline is fantastic but at every corner, you'll find a new, exciting and fresh questline. If you're looking for an open-world game that will hook you for hundreds of hours thanks to its jaw-dropping world, lore, and creatures, you came to the right place. The characters have depth and human feelings, some monster hunting quests also come along with moral issues that will force you to make difficult decisions. What also makes this game so incredible is its protagonist. Geralt is one of the best video-game protagonists. He has it all. He suffered a lot to be the "man" he is, he fights discrimination and still helps humans despite it, he's sarcastic, charming, and fun to listen to and he's powerful to boot, but also takes a beating every-so-often despite his expertise.

    I've already talked for long enough about the story and characters. Now with the gameplay, graphics, and music. Visually, the world of The Witcher 3 looks gorgeous. Most of the characters and creatures look good and the medieval world and atmosphere are still some of the best. There are a few textures that didn't age that well and some visual bugs to be expected in such a vast world, but that will not be enough to ruin your immersion.

    Last but not least, the gameplay is one of the most refined you can fight in action-RPG games. Geralt is easy to control and the combat is never overcomplicated. With time and experience, you'll learn lots of small combat tricks and effective ways to fight every individual monster. Quite the rewarding experience. Now and then the combat has its faulty moments as well which can feel a bit annoying. Riding your horse can also be frustrating every now and then.

    I like Witcher's world, very creative mythological creatures, interesting characters, fluid combat, and very good open world. But this game includes so many cinematics (Especially main quests). I want to play not watch. So if I want to watch something I apply movies.

    This may be a little lower than the average rating but The Witcher III is a great game no doubt. There are problems with the mechanics, camera and other things. Neither does the combat blow me away.

This is one of the few open-world ganes that doesn't seem hollow and that doesn't make you think that it's there just to follow a trend.     So with all of these it is honestly frustating how simple and repetitive the Gameplay can be, the way that Geralt moves is so weird and feels slippery, if that makes sense and the combat is just okay, sure you have the signs but they don't truly provide that much to the experience.

    That said I wouldn't recommend this game if you care more about gameplay than a good story or good RPG mechanics. But if you're hoping for an unforgettable RPG with one of the best stories that gaming can offer, play It, you won't be disappointed.    … Expand

    I am also glad that the developers didn't buy into the demands of crazy SJW's when making this game that want diversity at any cost. The Witcher is based on polish mythology written by a polish guy that comes from Poland a country that has a demographic of 98,5% white people.

    Ведьмаке 3 много проблем с Платвой это тупая лошадь постоянно застривает в невидимых стенах от чего и думаешь лучше пройдусь-ка я пешком.     This game is marvelous. I played this game in 4k Xbox one x and it looks stunning. the story is so much engaging and the gameplay is also balanced. The only thing I didn't like about this game is that it's progression system and randomly posted higher level enemies

    Great open world game with lots of things to do and lots of side quests...though load times are TOO LONG! Great gameplay with good graphics and lots of npc dialogue; quite representative of AD&D. Acting was average and I was disappointed with the ending. Its definitely aimed at a younger audience.

    After starting this game for a second time, my opinion of it has completely changed. Where before the clunky controls and lack of motion capture for cinematics made the game near unplayable, I can now overlook these as minor issues and realise that there is a beautiful world to explore with a brilliantly told story that accompanies it.

    A very solid game. Truly comprehensive story in an immerse open world.

    The downside is in the gameplay itself. There are known bugs with audio, combat system is clunky, and movements seem unrealistic at times.

    I WANT to LOVE Witcher 3. The story is great, graphics are great, the combat (although mildly repetitive after a while) is enjoyable, and the world is amazing. But all of these things come at a very real cost: Performance. The performance of this game is downright atrocious. There are many times where the game will drop sub-25 fps and stay there for prolonged periods. It makes the gameI WANT to LOVE Witcher 3. The story is great, graphics are great, the combat (although mildly repetitive after a while) is enjoyable, and the world is amazing. But all of these things come at a very real cost: Performance. The performance of this game is downright atrocious. There are many times where the game will drop sub-25 fps and stay there for prolonged periods. It makes the game look extremely choppy and can negatively affect combat sequences with multiple enemies on screen. Texture pop-in is also a very real issue.

    Yes, we knew this console generation was underpowered when we went into it but there is simply no excuse for this kind of performance. Any game that regularly drops into the low 20 fps range and stays there for more than a second or two deserves scrutiny for poor optimization. The game is beautiful, yes, but this is a clear example of graphics being considered over stable gameplay.

    I would LOVE nothing more than to sit behind this game for hours on end but the performance problems make this a game I can only play in short sessions. I find that most of the widespread high reviews tend to gloss over these issues. If you want to see them in action before buying the game yourself, look up the Digital Foundry side by side performance evaluations of the post-patch PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Then compare that to Digital Foundry's side by side evaluation of the game's performance on their budget PCs, downgrade not withstanding.

    I'm hoping CDPR can further patch the performance issues. Until then I have to knock the game down significantly for having periods of time where the frame rate and pop in renders the game utterly unenjoyable.     The interface have not improved much since TW2. Inventory is mostly ok, but there is no way of sorting stuff to, say, weight, value, stack size, durability or damage. The inventory screen could have been much larger and show more items at once. It has sooo much unused background space on it.

    Combat was better in TW2 in my opinion. Seems like it has been simplified further and is more button mashing than before. Still, could be worse.

    Looting can be a royal pain in the ass. Both Geralt and the camera must be aimed in the general direction of the lootable object. Doesn't sound too bad, but character movement is so incredibly imprecise that it becomes infuriating. Adding to this problem is the number of braziers and torches around that will get in the way of looting and you will accidentaly light/extinguish these instead. Gah! (This was just fixed in a recent patch apparently)

    The in-game mini game, Gwent, is really bad and arbitrary in my opinion. But that's optional, so no biggie.

    The game is, as i said before, a beautiful one. but the trees and grass look really bad in the wind. They're way too springy and reacts way too strongly to the wind.

    The camera is, like TW2, too close to Geralt. I kept wanting to zoom out while I was playing all the time.

    Voice acting of Geralt is as dull and wooden as always. Some people think he's great, but I find him a bore to listen to. Always have.

    Stuff I dislike, but others might like:

    The game is huge. it took a lot of effort to create this world and everything in it. But to me, that's its downfall. There are so many distractions from the main story. The amount of side quests and questionmarks on the map the game wants you to explore and complete is insane. You feel compelled to do it (and you also have to do it in order to be high enough lvl to do the main quests) and therefore spend very little time doing the main story quests. This gets me bored and I don't really feel engaged in the main plot. It also feels unnatural, story wise, to waste time doing errands for random strangers when you're on a search for a missing person close to you. I wish game developers made the effort to have sidequests expand the main plot too instead of just expanding the lore of the world. This is all very common in games like this and fans probably both expect and want it.

    The side quests are also a bit repetative. Go to the scene of the crime, use your witcher sense (which is now more like the detective mode in the Batman games) to search for clues, follow clues to the main event and kill whatever monster is bothering the NPC in question.

    Little annoyances:

    The game minimizes at random times. Usually after clicking the mouse so one would think it had to do with the cursor hitting outside the main monitor. But for me, once the game has minimized, the cursor is NOT outside my main monitor. Still, doesn't happen a lot and I think I could avoid it by disabling the 2nd monitor while playing.

    The in game map is always zoomed all the way in and isn't detailed enough to justify that. You almost always want to zoom all the way out to quickly find the place you want to go to. Once zoomed out, it should stay zoomed out, but no, not here.

    I guess I recommend it, because it IS of high quality and a lot of effort have been put into it. No doubt.    … Expand

    Cons: gameplay is a bit over simplified where I beat many enemies by spamming and dodging most of the time. Humans are most fun to fight as you can counter them and perform cool finishers. Also I experienced a lot of glitches like enemies not attacking, getting stuck, etc.

    Here is why you should buy TW3:
    - The world is HUGE - to a point that curiosity invades your soul (Skyrim fans will love it)
    - Graphics on PS4 are good!
    - The story.

    Now as I mentioned previously, I don't really dwell into the story when it comes to video games. I believe a better gameplay will always overshadow a good story line. Skyrim and Fallout are the only 2 games I really take time to read notes and story. That being said, the story line in TW3 is THAT good that it is REALLY hard not to LOVE IT. I am completely ADDICTED to side quests (not as much for the main story). The dialogue is great and really funny if you like black humor. I never hit the skip button (unless I have to talk a second time to merchants).

    The reason why I am rating this game a 7/10 is:
    -1 combat system
    -1 bugs (please fix it ASAP)
    -1 frame drop rate

    1) I personally dislike the combat system in TW3. The camera is really awful and 5 hours into the game, it really started to piss me off until I found that you can easily switch between multiple targets. Eventually I got used to it and 40 hours later, I am still loving this game.

    2) Bugs need to be fixed. I am not talking about glitches which are fine. I guess. I mean REAL bugs. Some quests don't work and I still have one pending quest in my journal (whom I already received the reward for it but still listed under treasure hunt). I crashed 3 times playing GWENT. And got stuck on several occasions. I also find sometimes crates or whatever to be hard to loot. You need a specific camera angle for it which is annoying.

    3) I am currently playing in Velen and the swamp is really laggy. Frame drop rate and bugs everywhere. Feels like the game isn't really polished. One of the quest (Baron going back to find his wife) - good luck lag and bugs feast.

    Still on v1.01 hoping to get a v1.02 soon. Need a solid 1.1.

    Should you buy this game? Yes. Will you like it? Yes if you are willing to ignore bugs (until fixed) and poor combat system (you'll get used to it and once you gain more levels then it's much more playable NOTE: I'm playing TW3 on Death to March mode - so camera and combat system really matter imo). Will you go for the plat trophy? Quite likely. I am!

I think I am a bit jaded via playing so many of these types of games, the first thing I did was go walk around the land looking for secrets and trying to discover things, well that as it turns out is not really what this adventure is about, it is more about the story they are trying to convey and where that will take you. You can literally beat the last boss in hardest mode without any equipment by light attack, Barrel roll, barrel roll light attack, forever. The 2nd Tavern i visited was a copy paste already. Bugs, a lot of bugs.    Story, graphics, characters, great. Truly amazing.

    I've traded this game for my Fallout 4 and played it a few times but never really got into it after the 1st and the 2nd time I tried playing it, I've shelved it for 5 years before trying it again. After giving it a 3rd chance, and this time I got to experience most of it, I can say that it's really a good game and the lore behind it is really good and I've read a lot of the story onlineI've traded this game for my Fallout 4 and played it a few times but never really got into it after the 1st and the 2nd time I tried playing it, I've shelved it for 5 years before trying it again. After i've beaten every Gwent opponent, got all the rare cards and be the best Gwent player after the expensive tournament I joined, that's the moment I start losing interest playing it.     Control Scheme takes some getting used to. It feels clunky but after you realize that you actually have to walk instead of run in certain spots and time your attacks more it will feel more natural.
    Frame rate issues. Not as bad as Assassin's Creed Unity but still there
    The story gets boring the only thing keeping it interesting are the character themselves NOT the overall story.
    The combat doesn't really feel that fun sometimes. After a while you will realize that the enemies do the exact same moves over and over again. (I just came from playing Bloodborne which has near flawless combat so that could be influencing my opinion of the combat in the Witcher)
    Open world Curse: This game keeps the same mechanics of other open world games. You go to a point on your map then you go to another point kills enemies then talk to someone and repeat all over again. I would have preferred you stumble across a very interesting building you go inside and see someone dead on the floor then you have to figure out who did it, find them and then take it from there. There are to many dead bodies and NPC's that after a while you don't care about any of them at all. Instead of going point to point let the player do something fun at every place instead of just talking to characters.

    Overall this is an OK game. If you love open world RPG's then you will probably love this game. I dislike open world rpg's I found skyrim, dragaon age, fallout, etc. very very boring but yet I can still play this game so I'm guessing it is one of the better RPG's made.    … Expand

All armor doesn't interact right. The shirts are constantly clipping through the pants. Its some serious Ps2 stuff going on. Oh also all these positive comments about the wind looking amazing. What????? The physics are sooo off how can anyone say that. Every single blade of grass up to giant tree looks like its being blown in different direction then the one right next to it. Also ive noticed alot of hanging plants when I walk into them just disappear until you adjust camera angle rather then moving. Now about the controls. How on earth did they manage to get the horrid laggy type controls from odd world abes odyssey. Seriously its that bad. I had to spend many minutes adjusting my sensitivity and it still feels off. The game on hardest difficulty has been a breeze through what I have seen so far. There are just so many things wrong with this it isn't really possible to list them all.     I have found this game to have a really plodding pace. And it's been difficult to get over it. I would say so far my experience has been, travelling the world, talking to folks +++ (there's ALOT of talking!), looting items which there value and usefulness is not clearly explained. The menu system and crafting system are not clearly explained at all... I spend my time walking around, looking at stuff, trying to read books and notes (quest items) so as not to miss stuff.. But the thing is - this is 70% of my time spent with the Witcher 3. All this is then bookended with action about 30% of the time. Now the action is straight combat. There's no stealth, no bow and arrow, so no long range combat really. And it gets a little repetitive especially against humans. But the combat is good, but considering apart from talking a lot, and exploring, this is the only thing there is to do. However, the boss battles mostly are absolutely epic!

    I'm just saying this for anyone who gets a bit inpatient with cutscenes and a lot of talking in games, I would be hesitant to recommend this game. And I've played the heck out of games like Skyrim. So I was ready for a lot of talking in this game but was not prepared for how much talking and the slow pace that cannot be deviated from. And dare I say, at risk of being fire bombed by fans, a good portion of the content isn't terribly interesting.

    I'm simply saying this game often requires of you hours in a single sitting to get to something worthwhile. And in between there's alot of walking about and gassing to the locals and not doing much that's interesting.    … Expand

    I'm annoyed to see so many 9 and 10 ratings from both user and critic's alike as the issues in this game are unlikely to be "fixed" and ones that certainly affect enjoyment. You will find the poor movement controls rarely mentioned by critics, and the frame rate issue glossed over as if it doesn't affect the game or is a rarity.

    ** Movement controls ** are a fundamental design choice that the devs have obviously committed to; if it were thought to be poor, or could be improved upon, I'm sure it would have been done long ago. Some reviewers may say you will get used to the movement, but poor gameplay will always be poor whether you invest 10, 20, or 100 hours. From the start of the game until the end, it will be a struggle to control Geralt leaving you frustrated in a game that demands exploration.

    ** Frame rate ** issues are very evident and leave me wondering just how often the game even hits 30FPS. Fights with two or more enemies bog down and absolutely affects how you move and react. Exploration of towns and cities are similarly affected by poor frame rates, leaving animations jerky and lagged. Cut scenes can require loading screens, and often have frame rate and texture loading/pop-in issues.With frame rate issues affecting nearly every aspect of the game, it is unlikely that CD Projekt will be able to improve upon it substantially. It is more likely that we will be told a fix is in the works, aimed largely at getting potential buyers off the fence, but have to wait months for something that will only provide very modest improvements.

    It is concerning that games such as the Witcher 3 can be released in this state. If the game can be optimized, the delays to launch should have allowed it. If the game cannot be optimized further, it is a wonder why the devs decided such poor performance was acceptable. While I enjoy very much the story, I feel burned by CD Projekt and all the review sites that failed to mention just how significant some of the gameplay and performance issues are.

    Have a search for these issues (CD Projekt forum) before buying.

There are a few bugs which have been more funny than ruined my gameplay experience. It is very similar to Dragon Age in the way you move from area to area but feel with this concept it helps the game run smoother whilst exploring. Yes its not the full open world of skyrim but (for the console players) don't have to wait 30/60 secs every time you enter a building. Try not to get stuck on a bit for too long though (talking of loading times) because the reload back into your game when you die is a painful and have made refreshments, in another room and come back to find it still loading.
    I would advise not to listen to people who wont enjoy the game due to the graphics not being as good as they though or there being a few bugs. I played around 35 in the first 48hrs of release (Don't say it I know) But my point being I'm at work now and still can't wait to get back home and continue my quest.    … Expand

    The Witcher 3 is a mixed bag of awesome-sauce & mediocre swordplay. The graphics and overall presentation of the game is excellent; The Witcher 3 is possibly one of the best-looking games of the new generation, and definitely the best-looking medieval-era, sword-combat RPG-action type of game on PS4. In comparison, it makes Dragon Age Inquisition look awful! However, there is an overwhelming focus on cut-scenes, lore, talking with NPC's & making decisions, and so the core gameplay--the combat--often feels..well..not good. It seems that the combat took a back-seat to the rest of the game's elements. TW3 excels in story-telling and in its world's design. The "world" of TW3 is absolutely stunning; there is so much to explore and there is so much variance in the world's design, from the different landscapes, the countless and colorful personalities of the NPC's, right down to the weather and lighting effects; it all makes for a stunning visual experience.
    The main thing--and one of the only things--that I don't like about TW3 is that the combat just doesn't feel satisfying at all. For example, only a half-hour after I had just slayed a huge Griffon monster, I'm in White Orchard getting my arse kicked by little blue swamp creatures! While it looks good, the overall balance of the combat mechanics and the enemies' movements & health in this game are a confusing mess. Many people say it's best to play on a harder difficulty setting, but I've found problems with that as well.
    There are four difficulty settings available at the start; many fans have said that in order to get the best experience, one should play on "Blood & Broken Bones" difficulty, which is the second hardest. I've tried playing through the first quarter of the game on both "Sword & Story" and "Blood & Broken Bones" settings and I found there's a huge difference between the two. On the latter/harder setting, even the enemies early in the game--such as the blue swamp monsters--will totally kick your ass, whereas on the "Sword & Story" setting, you can slice through ten of them without taking any damage! For me, it was very hard to find a sweet-spot in the difficulty settings where I could enjoy a challenge and not be dying "cheap" deaths constantly. Hopefully the balance of the game has improved since last played it. Again, please note I haven't played it since the big patch, which added some things (like loot chests) and other tweaks.
    Aside from having some pretty lackluster combat, The Witcher 3 is a good game overall, and I especially love all the references to Eastern European monsters & folklore. Also, you know hundreds of thousands of gamers (who love this game) can't be wrong when they say it's a great game, or even a GOTY. There is so much to do in TW3, it could possibly keep you busy for a hundred hours or more. It's definitely a game worth a try, but if you prefer combat over lore and stories, you'll probably get bored fast. However, if you love a good lore-heavy RPG with lots of deep and interesting stuff to explore, loot, and learn about the world--which is incredibly large--then this is your game!    … Expand

    The open world is unbelievable. There's so many things to do in the game that you may feel overwhelmed. The game looks fantastic even with the frame rate issues that occur from time to time. The biggest problem I have with the game is the combat. It does feel a bit dated and at times unresponsive. Definitely a game worth checking out. You will no doubt get your money's worth.

I know that this type of game is well known for being buggy at launch (I'm thinking of you Bethesda).     - 75% of game is go from point A -> B then see a cutscene, rinse and repeat
    - Combat and movement is clunky and its just a two button mash combat, where is rpg combat like skyrim, the inventory system is very tedious to use
    - There is no exploration aspect in the game , every little thing is marked on map. So it again makes me feel like i am just walking from point to point seeing the mini map and then triggering cutscenes thats all..

    Its better if this game is a movie because a game should offer good and variety gameplay and this game fails to do that.. but since the story is great with multiple choices,endings and because of graphics i give a 7/10. Will give a 6.5 but cant score like that in metacritic i guess.    … Expand

    The controls and mechanics... It feels like the we're back to gta 3 or something.
    The movement is poorly calibrated for sensitivity (you can only change camera sensitivity, not movement). You find yourself constantly struggling not to hit random people. Taking stairs and ladders is one hell of a nightmare. Mounting the horse is hard as well, you have to aim at the horse, figure out how not to run into it, make a full stop and press X (X won't work if your'e moving. same applies when looting).
    Combat mechanics are less bad.

    I've been playing the game for about 10-15 hours so far. I have never played the other Witcher games before this was my first.     Story: 7.5/10
    It's hard to tell at this stage as I have only just scratched the surface but the main quest sort of has my attention, but I often find myself getting sidetracked by the secondary quests. There are a lot of different names, places, characters mentioned of which you have no clue how they tie in with each other or even their importance, which I suppose could be awesome, but I often atm feel like it's just information overload, and a bit unnecessary.

    Combat: 4/10
    Ok this is one of my biggest gripes with this game, the combat in this game is tragic. Some of my fanboy friends have put it down to me playing on hard, whereas they breezed through the first boss fight playing on easy. You cannot restore your health through meditation (leaving the character stationary) on higher difficulties, so after battles I find myself having to grind enemies and wildlife to gain meat to heal myself. This I do not mind, but I normally get hurt in battles due to the clunky movement and getting stuck in scenery, poor sprite detection. Fights can be won by standing at a distance and firing numerous bolts (which you have unlimited of, followed by dirty tactics of charging up yours skills, use it, run around til it charges, repeat, again and again.) You can attack on your horse which is also kind of clunky as sometimes your weapon will go straight through an enemy, and you'll be hit by an attack that didn't connect. I feel battles would be ridiculously on a lower setting, and with the ability to change the difficulty at any point I really think this cheapens the games approach. Battles tend to feel more like a grind chore than a skill. I've been so annoyed with it that I considered stop playing it altogether, but I will persevere

    Graphics / Visuals: 9/10
    Very impressive, although i'm not a graphics freak the visuals on this game are amazing the creatures and landscapes are beautiful to look at.

    Movement 7/10
    I haven't come across boats yet so cannot comment on that, I have been using the horse, but I think in the early game your lack of control of the horse all depends on the type of gear you have for it, the steering isn't very fluent and I keep getting stuck on fences, and everything seems to feel like it has slight lag. I try to "loot" something next to a candle flame and I end up lighting the candle instead of picking the item I wanted up, too many buttons do the same thing and you end up having to attempt about 3-4 times to do something before it actually works. Try talking to a villager and you end up getting on your horse which is annoying, your character turns like a bus, and sometimes when you're running from a battle your character will turn and face the enemy automatically which stops you running which lets them gain ground on you, and kill you or taking out a lot of health leading back to the whole grind for meat cycle mentioned in combat.

    Characters/Creatures 9/10
    I really like the amount of different types of creatures in this game and the attention to their weaknesses at certain times of the day and the tactics you'll have to use to defeat them. I still have to come across many but it looks like they've taken a lot of time to put the effort in there.
    The characters and voice acting in this game is second to none I feel like everyone has an interesting tale to tell, and feel like every quest I begin can lead to something worthwhile. I do enjoy the exploring, but only wish I could loot a bit quicker.
    I am very excited for the characters i'll meet along the way as again you can tell they've put alot of time and effort into this and it has paid off so far.

    I think the card game is awful, i read the rules played my first game and won, it was terrible. Far more interesting things to do than this bag of s**t.

    Leveling up 8/10
    Still a bit confused by it all atm, but looks like you can specify exactly how you want your character to be so you can build yourself the perfect class with mutagens, points bonuses, something about potions and crafting that I haven't even got around to yet.

    Verdict:
    Seems like a very good game hampered down by the clunky movement and combat system. I'd say if that was improved this game would be a 8/9.5. I would recommend playing this on a harder difficulty as it seems far too easy on the lower difficulties. I feel like this game was made to cater for people who struggle with hard games, which has cheapened it slightly. Worth giving it a shot though.    … Expand

I honestly don't see how this is rated so highly. It's still a good game. But the combat is dull and a little sloppy, the load times are longer than I would want. You can make decisions that will affect the quest you are playing or even the communities. But it won't happen not that often.There is lots of crafting in this game. And you don't need to know the previous game to know the Witcher 3 story. So it won't be confusing

    However I will have to nitpick the flaws of this game. The game is sexist in every way. You will see woman having sex multiple times. Geralt the main protagonist will have sex with other woman in the story than his beloved.Some of them are optional though. There will be prostitutes you can have sex with. And there will be soldiers cheering at the woman showing off her body. I am not a woman but I find that offensive.

    Back to the game there is limited customisation and what I mean by that is the way you look. It is just the hair that affects you. There is limit diversity within this open world. I am only saying that since there has been complaints about it. There a lot of glitches that WILL affect your experience like the change of angle.This won't happen too often but it is guaranteed it will happen though. The main flaws is the story which isn't the worst one but isn't a great one either. The story will get boring in time but there is brilliant characters however there isn't a satisfying amount of great characters. These characters will be the only reason you will actually be playing the campaign especially in Velen. The villain is threatening and is quite menacing but not interesting though. The main character I thought was the worst character will be geralt who sounds like batman (which is totally unnecessary) you will only be interested in him is the background of his since he is a bounty-hunter which means he isn't a villain but neither a hero. However you can decide that. There isn't much gameplay freedom like different ways to kill enemies e.g. using magic( even though there are magic abilities which are limited) or stealth). The open world is not even that interactive as you cannot kill other villagers like in skyrim and you can't interrupt conversations or interact with the civilians around you much(even though this can happen but is very limited). You can only eavesdrop conversations.

    final verdict: Brilliant (somewhat) interactive open world, lots of content with a decent story filled with limited brilliant characters. With some glitches (which will be sorted in the future).     The longer the better, in most of the cases yes, in some others is not true. would be better something shorter, mostly because then you have less bugs and glitches. Too many side missions distracting and not related to the main line. Graphics are much worse than promised. Music is great, but after o many hours became repetitive.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I rated this game 6 previously. I was told to play the game on 3rd difficulty. Now please ignore that, the best way to play it is on Story only, ie the lowest difficulty. This game is not about the battles, they are extremely lame and repetitive. I now appreciate the game more with all the interesting missions and quests. I was really driven.......until i found Ciri. I thought that to be the end but.......it seems halfway as i am still going. The missions/quests are not interesting anymore though but lame and drawn out. While the Hunt is after us, i got plenty of time to wonder about and tie up lose ends, finish unfinished business. It makes no sense. When urgency is required, urgency should be in the gameplay. I feel it was a good attempt at a game, story great, most of the missions in first half quite cool. Graphics and the world great. Battles boring and not worth it. I am trying to push myself to finishing the main story so i can get into the side quests, as i was to low level to do them before, now i am at the right level but it feels like not making any sense to move away from the story line, once you are going, to stop move away a province to slay a beast. Perhaps when exploring the lands i will appreciate it more, unfortunate i was not able to explore before due to the strange level mechanics.… Expand

I completed the main story but for a few weeks now it felt like more of a chore than anything else. I enjoyed the graphics and some of the combat but got bored with the countless count scenes and dialogue.     My main grudge with the game is just how uninteresting the characters were. Geralt is this "edgy" guy, with a voice actor who strains his voice so hard to sound tough that he can't even raise his voice. There's really no point having the dodge mechanic when you can just spam the attack button and get things done quicker. The story is pretty interesting, but I really wanted to get involved in the Nilfgaard vs Redania war.

    It's slightly more challenging than the other listed games when enemies are attacking groups, but all you need to do is spam side step until you get out, and go back into the fight or just retreat because don't worry...they won't follow you!

    I wish it was more grounded, where geralt doesn't do these silly and fancy spins and flips during basic attacks. Less arkham ballet, more dark souls or blood borne with the bonus of when enemies agro...they agro! So they follow you unless you get too far from sight on roach or something.    … Expand

The button configuration is personally unfavorable, but that's my opinion. I think 7 out of 10 is a generous score.     I know that most people were throwing out 10s for this (critics included) but i don't think it was anything special. i completed it and sold it. going through the story and a few side quests here and there, i did enjoy it. its got a lot of content to be fair and the graphics are really good. gwent is also good fun to get into. it was just the gameplay i thought that wasn't up to par.I know that most people were throwing out 10s for this (critics included) but i don't think it was anything special. i completed it and sold it. going through the story and a few side quests here and there, i did enjoy it. its got a lot of content to be fair and the graphics are really good. gwent is also good fun to get into. it was just the gameplay i thought that wasn't up to par. i played it straight after bloodborne and for me the combat seemed clunky and repetitive. the sword parrying and fighting isnt very smooth and for a lot of enemies all u really do is go at them swinging until they die, with a bit of dodging and the occasional bit of magic thrown in. its all just a numbers games, if ur too low level u have no chance of killing them and if ur a couple more then theyre a piece of cake. and as u ride around theres such a mixture of levels in the enemies that u seldom match up. the quests are sometimes interesting story-wise but many of them are a case of 'go here, kill this and come back'. u ride around and find badass enemies but at no point did i really feel like i wanted to go back when i was level 34 to batter them and maybe get a reward for doing so. i spent ages going round for the good armor upgrades and weapons but there wasnt really any great pay-off at the end.

    its still worth a buy if u havent already, and especially if u get it cheap. but to be honest don't expect miracles- its good to see the story through. but i really think the hype is way overdone for this one.    … Expand

The controls for experiencing the story are completely separate from those that are used in combat, and those used to solve puzzles and explore. Once you have finished a Witcher contract or investigation you have really done the all because they are always the same. The game's combat is also boring. I got used to it on the hardest difficulty, because that is how I like to play action RPG's, but it just became a tedious slog of the same **** The only reason to play this game is for the beauty of the world and writing, which are so great, they outweigh my qualms with the game. This game had so much love and heart put into it is amazing and worth buying just for that reason alone. Ultimately it is let done by it's game play which is repetitive as **** and honestly I wish I could skip just to experience the world which is so great. And I am someone who loves the **** out of game play, I love Mario because it is raw game play and Dark Souls because it lets you learn and master its mechanics, but the Witcher never introduces new challenges in game play, it just has the same encounters dressed in different ways.… Expand

The story, at least for me, was pretty boring and forgetful, the quest to find Ciri gets annoying real quick, and the formula is just: watch some cutscene and dialogues, fight some enemies, find some stuff, fight more enemies... and so on, the choice system is not much o relevant, at least on main quest, since the only choices that really matters are the ones that happens at when you're almost finishing it. For the positive side, i really like the sidequests and there is a lot of items to collect and things to do even after you beat the game, but i lost my save file so in order to pick the items i have to play that game again, and this won't be happening, at leasy by now.
    In conclusion i think that Witcher 3 has some great aspects, but it0 is incredible overhyped and i dont think it really deserves the praise.    … Expand

    The game itself is boring as hell, the only reason it's reviewed so high is because of the ooh and ahh nice graphics, nudity, and voice acting. Full of fetch quests and bad gameplay. People will recommend this game because of the story and characters, but I play for gameplay and if a game doesn't have good gameplay it isn't worth it.

Now, the combat to me is still pretty boring: mostly hack n slash, roll, and use some spells, but it is slow paced and clunky compared to other current action-RPGs. There are many exciting boss battles and combat sequences, but most of the combat is clunky and repetitive.

    That being said, the amount of content, open world, graphics and story of Witcher 3 are outstanding. There is so, so much to do, the story is engrossing with many choices that actually matter and impact the story, and I had the most fun exploring the open world. The side quests are also all meaningful, with unique scenarios and actually fleshed out characters (instead of fetch quests with carbon copy NPCs like almost every other action RPG). The story and exploration of the beautiful open world kept me going through the game, even if the combat was mostly boring for me.

    Overall, I would say the Witcher 3 is worth playing for fans of action-RPGs, and those looking for a good story in a game. However, if you are not a fan of the genre, this game won't sway you.    … Expand

It makes opponents feel like sponges, able to absorb ridiculous amounts of damage and results in really long fights. If you don't care about that or enjoy playing on lower difficulties, you'll probably enjoy this game.

No game ever "gripped" me with its storytelling, it's just a game. The gameplay is fun, it has one of those "Modern" combat systems that make the combat simple enough to keep it non aggravating.     The graphics are bad, buggy and even cutscenes are sometimes choppy.

    The map is bad and not connected. The scenery is great at first but it's always the same. And it lacks rewarding by exploration.
    The enemies are so clunky and bad designed as well, they don't feel very plausible. Even the magic is bad: the symbols are so similar with each other. They could at least make some different icons more related with the actual power.

    Sure it's better than a great number of games. But a 10? Not a chance. If this was made by Bethesda, I'm sure the critics would be all negative over it.    … Expand

    - The story is quite poor till the last 5/6 hours of the game. It´s summarised in: Find this person. in order ot do so, you need to finde 20 people you don´t care about who ask you to find other people you care even less about.

    1. Although the story telling is nice but the base of story is for under 15 kids!! Its predictable , pointless and foolness. You just follow trails of ciri nearly whole the game like tom and jerry.and after that fight with wild hunt and absolutely win! **** ha??

    The Witcher 3's subject matter, its almost defiant doubling down on its treatment of women as titillating props for Geralt and the player, even as it tries to flesh out more female leads, is its most disappointing aspect. This constant presence weighs down what would otherwise be an excellent bit of closure for Geralt's video game saga — which isn't helped by the control issues that often detract from sequences meant to break up open-world monotony.
