    To say this game is missing what the first captured, is an understatement. The story is convoluted with SJW bs, not just shoved up the a**, but forcibly rammed up there with an egg beater on full blast, whilst on fire. I honestly couldn't finish the game. I'm done with it, I'm done with all these virtue signaling butt f***s and I refuse to buy another game handled LTE this piece of hotTo say this game is missing what the first captured, is an understatement. The story show us different types of life's perspectives, Abby has a good argument in the narrative because she is the daughter of the scientist who knew the way to cure the virus, he suffered a lot, more than Ellie (she killed all the Abby's friends). This is not a Disney story it's crude, rude and to me show what real life is.… Expand

    Genius game balanced between engaging gameplay and totally unpredictable and expertly written story. We don’t normally get stories of this depth and complexity in games. This is my take on the ending:

    We go through Ellie’s chapter thinking we are enacting righteous revenge. Then the story flips and we experience Abby story, a character who we find out has seemingly completed that very same revenge (killing of their father figure). Over the course of her three days we find that the act of revenge didn’t change anything for Abby, that she was still haunted by nightmares, shes still emotionally broken from losing her father, and she still is neglecting the pain of losing Owen to Mel. She’s trying to move on because she knows revenge didn’t solve anything. Ellie pushes her to the breaking point again but this time but Lev pulls her back. Her people. THIS, is her reason for living now, not revenge. Then we snap back to Ellie and we have to go through the excruciating steps of abandoning everything for revenge. Because of abby’s story we know it won’t solve anything, only lead to more loss, but we have to go through the motions anyway.

    This was the hardest part of the game for me. I wanted Ellie to just turn the **** around the entire time. Finally when she sees Abby and Lev and the state their in, she starts questioning everything. Is this really what she wants to do? Will it bring Joel back to kill this emaciated and broken person? She thinks she has to go through with killing Abby to move on. Finally, on the brink of doing so she sees Joel, sees that she’ll never stop missing him, see’s that her forgiveness and love for him isn’t dependent on vengeance. Whether Abby is alive or dead she is left with loss. So she gives up on vengeance and truly begins to mourn what she’s lost.    … Expand

All the intimate details of violence make you question what you’re doing. You’re not Joel, as much as you try. And I think it’s clear that Joel wouldn’t want you to be like him. The first main plot point to happen is inevitable but heartbreaking all the same. And it just. keeps. going. +1 for Lev, the new Ellie. Because old Ellie is dead. Side note: A lot of the low user reviews for this game say things like ‘AllLivesMatter’ and make fun of social justice and lgbt people. No joke. That should tell you off the bat they’re not worth listening to.… Expand

    At first, I didn't really like the story that much. I thought it was simply okay, or rather disappointing. But once I got to play it a second time, everything, from the pacing, to playing as Abby made so much more sense to me. This game is just a test on how many of us gamers can actually overcome these feelings of hate from many awful events that occur in the game, that's all there is toAt first, I didn't really like the story that much.     The Last of Us Part 2 is a masterpiece. People keep saying Joel deserved better. Did he really?! Joel was never heroic. We rationalized his actions in the first game and created a hero’s mythology for him because that’s the nature of video games. That hospital scene at the end of Part 1 was an act of pure evil. No matter how you cut it. That was the moment Joel went from lovable fatherThe Last of Us Part 2 is a masterpiece. People keep saying Joel deserved better. Did he really?! Joel was never heroic. We rationalized his actions in the first game and created a hero’s mythology for him because that’s the nature of video games. That hospital scene at the end of Part 1 was an act of pure evil. No matter how you cut it. That was the moment Joel went from lovable father figure willing to do anything to protect his “daughter” and the memory of his biological daughter to a villain. And the fact that Ellie reveals in Part 2 that SHE ACTUALLY WANTED TO DIE, makes it even worse. In video games the quest is usually to “save the world”. In The Last of Us Part 1 we ended up realizing we played as a character who at the end stopped the world from being saved in a selfish act (that we admittedly empathized with because we experienced the heartbreak of Joel losing his daughter and the incredible bond he developed with Ellie). That STILL doesn’t justify what he did. Not only did he murder a slew of innocent people, HE STOPPED THE WORLD FROM BEING SAVED. It turned the entire video game medium on its ears. Brilliantly. And words can’t describe how genius it was for Naughty Dog to give players the “choice” to shoot the doctor or not at the end. I always thought that was ingenious. But man oh man The Last of Part 2 let’s us see just how GENIUS it was. Violence begets violence, karma is cyclical, and no good deed goes unpunished. Whether we “like” it or not Joel had it coming. As does most characters in this **** world of human depravity where THERE ARE NO HEROES. The amount of emotion Naughty Dog was able to illicit from me with The Last of Us Part 2 is some sort of artistic miracle. The key to making Abby’s character work was she was actually the FIRST character to realize the destruction her actions was causing and decided to break the cycle. So by the end of the game I loved Abby’s character and wanted her to find peace just as much as Ellie. The fact that they pulled that off is astonishing. I love her relationship with Owen and the Aquarium sequence was an ingenious set piece that they used to perfection. That being said, they used those moments of serenity against us because the moment they made us have a “boss fight” with Ellie as the villain and forced us to choke her out is one of the most gut-wrenching sequences Ive ever witnessed. In a game of movie. First time in my life I was “scared” to press a button on the controller. I didn’t want any part of it. AND THATS THE POINT. The Last of Us Part 2 is the greatest deconstruction of violence and it’s consequences ever made. In any medium. Period.… Expand

    The graphics and gameplay is fine, nothing amazing, the main issue is with the game's story.

    It has a very force narrative with a political agenda and an odd fetish towards gore porn. The gaming industry likes to pretend that minority characters and something super rare, well do you know why because no one really wants to play a game with a force minority.     The story is a simple revenge tale made to look like something groundbreaking by all the media outlets just because you have the rainbow people in the game.

    I would strongly recommend you stay away from this game specially if you're a fan of the first game's story as here the whole virus/zombie thing is more or less non existent compared to the last game.    … Expand

    "The Blasphemous Part II" should have been the name of the game.

    Naughty Dog deserves to be put to sleep after releasing this dog turd of a game into the world.

    Honestly this game was worth the wait. It subverted my expectation in every single way possible and too me is one of the riskiest and most unforgettable games I have ever played. I LOVED IT!

I needed the time to process all of that before I could write anything.Because it's hard for me as a person who loved and enjoyed the first game.First of all I must be completely honest-I haven't purchased the game.Some of you may think-well then your review means nothing,but then again:WHY SHOULD I SPEND MY MONEY ON SOMETHING THAT BAD?
    True the mechanics and graphics and all technical aspects of the game are great,and it pains me to understand that these people who were working hard on this one will get such a backfire into them.Yet I'm glad that many reviewers gave these people a credit even if they hated the game.
    Now unto the main point-the characters,the storyline and MESSAGE.

    1)There was no logic in Ellie's actions if you ask me.You can't carve a bloody path to your enemy and then somehow spare him/her.This was stupid.Really stupid.

    2)Joel acted like a fool and I hope that I don't need to remind you about his past when he was killing people,then he was a smuggler.So due to his experience and he should've felt a threat from a mile away...They destroyed him as a character and then Neil Druckmann spitted on his corpse.He created such a great and complex character and then THIS happened.Great job.Self-destruction-100 as they say in memes.

    3)The message.I don't need Druckmanns political views.I needed a good story with a good well-written characters not this SJW stuff.Some may say that this is his project well then he won't get any money from me and the Capitalism always wins.

    4)Where did Abby got a fresh steroids during the apocalypse I wonder?

The story is incredibly boring, mainly due to the weird fact that you play with a character that you don't care about for 10 hours... The ending is very disappointing, it's like the writers gave up midway. Graphics, animations, and voice acting is as you would expect from a AAA game though. All in all, wouldn't recommend.… Expand

    If you are having doubts about buying this game: DO IT! Don't listen to the crybabies giving it a 0. This game is amazing. Even if you end up not liking the story (I love it), all the rest is top notch. Giving this game less than a 7 is unconceivable. It's just like saying that Rambo: the videogame is the best game ever.

It's beautiful to see Ellie's character grows with her opinion on the world. The graphic is amazing and the whole world feels alive what is really good.     The game forgets about all the important things from part 1 eg - Ellie is the vaccine plot.
    You don't get a proper closure, just emptiness and a lot of WTFs.
    No payoff, characters inside make decisions that can make your head spin.
    All expectations are subverted ( some might think this is a pro, not me).

    Mediocre : Sounds and music can be better. ( part 1 does it a bit better )
    Combat is better but not as good as recent AAA titles.
    Repetitive game-play.

    I am severely disappointed even-tho i really try to like it.
    I am just a normal person who wish to enjoy games as an escape from reality.
    I will vote with my wallet carefully next time.
    I wish I could give it a 2 or 3 in the score but the story just kills every single cell in me to give it anything positive.

    First of all the gameplay is the same as the previous game. It is repetitive and boring. The story is absolute trash . I don't know who thought that this would be a good idea. This is just making a shocking content just to make shocking content. The Visuals are great but after a while you see the same and the same. This is not a game that you will want to replay after beating it.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was a late comer to the TLOU, with the PS4 remaster. I fell in love with the lore and the main characters and thought that the next installment will explore the origin of the cordyceps strain, the actions of the various state, military and paramilitary factions and further the story of Joel and Ellie in this "new brave world". Instead, they kill off the main character of the first part, via presenting him as a gullible old man, and they make you play as his murderer for half the game, they make the lesser-main character of the first part, Ellie, the mid-boss(!) of the game and they give her no resolution, as she gets in the end lonely, without being able to do the one thing that had from Joel, play the guitar, as the murderer of Joel bit off two of her fingers, who also got free, because after killing a small town, Ellie let her (yeah, the murderer is an androgynous freak) just because. They literally* spit in the face of their original fans (*a nobody spits on the dead body of Joel after he is being brutally killed). No amount of graphical fidelity, not to mention miniscule gameplay advancement, can weigh in for the atrocious story and character development, along with the insulting treatment of established icons. This is a disgrace of gaming.… Expand

    I can't believe this game is in the same franchise as the first one, the gameplay is outdated, has a lot of exposition scenes trying too hard instead of happening naturally like the first one, and the characters are just simply unlikeable. TLOU rose above because of the story, but they just dropped the ball here.

The only thing I can give this game is the graphics and sound design, the visuals are absolutely stunning (but even then the scenery gets repetitive reallllllyyyy quickly). Also I did like the gun animations whilst on the work bench, they were dope so whoever made those good job. Overall if you’re thinking about buying this game i’d advise you to save your money and just watch a walkthrough on YouTube if you’re still debating it, you’ll no doubt turn it off within a few hours anyway.     The original story of Joel and Ellie felt so f-ing real to me that I fell in love with this duo at first sight. Don't want to sound like crazy, but Joel really became some sort of a father figure to me. I replayed the original game dozen of times and I was so-so happy when the sequel was announced.

    And now I just... I feel like I was betrayed by someone really close and the whole world tries to justify this by saying "You just mad at the writers for killing off your favourite character! You are not smart enough to understand the narrative reasons for all of this!"

    People defend this game and say that it is genius writing, but actually it is just a bunch of cheap twists and bad storytelling. Characters are completely butchered and even the main message of the story is not just confusing, but completely meaningless. Even though the first games plot line was nothing unique, it was uplifted by its characters and the contrast of their relationship against the harsh backdrop of the apocalypse. Needless to say TLOU2 has some amazing graphics and great atmosphere designs, and the devs who worked hard for this game should get their well-deserved praise, but this is not what I'm trying to talk about in this review. You see TLOU2 has some really serious issues when it comes to character development and representations in the game. Take Asian characters for example. We got Jesse, who's a mediocre Asian character at best, acted as nothing but a plot device that contributes the development of Ellie and Dina's relationship, and he was literally a sperm donor. You heard that right. He made Dina pregnant so she and Ellie could have a chance to start a new life together as a lesbian couple after his pathetic and anticlimactic death (which is worse than Glenn's death in TWD imo). How is this a good representation of Asian males in video games, seriously? At least most Japanese devs know they need to make their Asian characters kick-ass when there's nothing they can do to make the characters more likable. We also got Yara and Lev's mother, who acted exactly like an extreme traditional and stereotypical Asian parent--she was willing to give her 13-year-old trans daughter Lev to a local elder as a child bride, and abused Lev when he refused to comply, really? If they were all black characters, I would imagine there must be some outrage on social media already. I just don't get why does Neil Druckmann hate Asians so much that he decided to make them all weak and incompetent (even the trans character Lev needs to be protected by Abby, a strong white woman) in TLOU2. What's worse is that these characters can be easily fixed so they can be under a more positive light, it's not like they have super complex characteristics to begin with anyway. In conclusion I'm disappointed. As an Asian I don't really mind when Asian characters can only get the less important roles in any western video games, but please make them good and not just dry and unlikable punchbags like this.… Expand

    Now then, to sum this game up, I would have to say that the game is glorified torture porn, with amateur levels of story writing. I would rate this lower if it wasn't for the very real possibility of my review being deleted.
    The game essentially starts out with the main character, Joel, from the first game being brutally murdered in front of you, the viewer's eyes, and his surrogate daughter. Then you're forced to continue playing as this psychotic monster that would murder an old man in front of her daughter, fast forward to the end, Abby, the psycho who murdered Ellie's surrogate father has been crucified for several days, and has been tracked down by Ellie. Now any reasonable person would assume that Ellie, the seasoned murderer set on revenge would finish the job and kill Abby, but instead she has a flashback about Joel, the also seasoned murdered who wouldn't hesitate a second to murder Abby if she did that to Ellie. Ellie decides to spare Abby for some reason, but then she has the same flashback about Joel and now decides she can't leave after all. This was a huge mistake because this psychopath who has been starved and crucified for days has the strength to obliterate Ellie, as she easily bites off her fingers as if they were baby carrots. The game ultimately ends with Abby sailing away scot free, Joel left unavenged, and Ellie's life completely ruined (Abby did a lot of other stuff to her like beating her girlfriend half to death. Ellie's girlsfriend getting pregnant and leaving her)    … Expand

    A total spit in the face to the first game, introducing characters who are far from being relatable and totally disregarding and butchering the main characters everyone loves, the game may be stunning with good gameplay but if the story is at the level of a bad fan-fiction the whole experience is absolutelly ruined.

    story trash. Conbat and gameplay overall is good. Not enough ways to do a mission like other games give you. Just two thing kill or wait forever to let people go by. No set up for traps or other ways to kill enemy or anything

    I WANT A REFUND!!!! This is without doubt one of the worst game I have ever played!! Absolute disaster game. DON'T BUY THIS GAME, NOT WORTH EVEN 1$. The story is just God awful... I don't know what to say anymore, im speechless how they ruined the game. I can't believe I've waited 7 years for this.

    It is in the top 5 games of this generation. Amazing story and graphics. Gameplay is way better compared to last of us part 1.

    First this game is very expensive in my country. it is 500 tl in turkey and it is a lot of money for us. i dont know is it expensive for other countries. If i wasnt fan of first game i wont be buying it. I bought it but this story made me crazy i was laughing at the ending.WTF i spend 500 tl for this **** I dont care about graphics.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. **** story. If you're going to make a game based on story, do it right like you know? What you did in the first game? Witcher 3? Halo? Go woke go broke. Don't bother making a third game trust me! Last of **** is done. Great graphics? Sure. Great voice acting? HELL YES. Great sounds? Yes! Outdated as **** mechanics? Yup. Copy and paste? Double yup. Story? Go **** yourself. Don't buy this damn game stay away. Make this company go down like they deserve.… Expand

    The sounds, the voice-acting, and the performances done by most of the cast do a great job. The things that drag this game down to a cold and dark abyss is the writing and overall direction.     The dialogue is written haphazardly and shoddily, old characters feel like caricatures of their actual selves and new characters ARE caricatures as they don't bring any depth and are as bland as unseasoned chicken.

    The decisions characters make are laughably comical, people change their minds on a whim and in a game trying to be serious it feels like someone made a painting of a lifelike stick figure pretending it was a work from Michelangelo.

    Gameplay though improved from the original still works and is at best serviceable to get to the main and end objective of a Last of Us game which is the story. The combat looks better, and feels a bit better but its like putting a fresh coat of paint and asphalt over a bridge you've gone over for years. It'll get you to you're destination.

    And the journey that this game will be taking you through will be filled with shock value, things are not setup properly, payoffs are weak and disappointing, things will happen that will be attributed to the game world being harsh and unforgiving but in reality are just dumb and not thought out.

    The game features a meandering plot, flashbacks, and just not a hint of remorse for the players that will be, in the vein of The Last of Us Part II, torn to pieces towards silly plot-points, long side "missions", and an ending that would and should make the player feel absolutely sick to their stomach and not in any way signifying that the story works. It is because the story how ever you look at it does not work that the player feels betrayed, abandoned, and baffled.

    Six to seven years of development, Neil Druckmann and all the other higher ups in Naughty Dog that let this happen wasted fan goodwill, wasted the efforts of the graphic team, the technical team, the sound team, and all the other hardworking men and women trying to bring entertainment and enjoyment to the people.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
