JUST to be clear, the people who worked on the game did great except the direction or stoyboard and pacing of this, abbys story entirely imo could of been left out. it just didnt feel right to have her in it. NOT to say its the VA and the production team fault. it was the directions overall. the game was great to play. and joel isnt a dummy even though i feel joel would have a lot of enemies. but that part with joel wasnt the way to go tbh. the game is beautiful, direction/story needed work. it was in production too long for it to be so flawed… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wouldn’t rate this game a perfect 10/10. It’d be closer to a 10 than a 9, however. So, on the scale options given to me, it gets a 10. The only thing I didn’t like about it was how it made me feel. It is a very difficult game to play because it is so powerful and depressing. From Joel’s brutal death to the journey that follows, there are so many terrible decisions made by the main characters, so much pain, death, anger, and hatred that I found the game very difficult to play at times. But what happened was the realization that no other game I’ve ever played had made me feel so many things and challenged my views/beliefs on so many topics. I finished the game a week ago and have not stopped thinking about it since. It’s that powerful. Kudos to the Naughty Dog team for taking such a huge gamble with the 2nd installment of perhaps the most beloved game/IP of the past decade. I didn’t like feeling all of those things (who enjoys feeling depressed?), and I play video games b/c they’re fun, but this game is still too good and too powerful to ignore. I highly recommend it to anyone, but just be prepared for an emotional journey unlike any you’ve ever experienced.… Expand

    The Last Of Us Part 2 may not be for everyone, but it is definitely for me. It is controversial, but if you are willing to be open minded in the direction of the game you will have one hell of an experience.

    I really have to admit that I really liked this game. No matter what you have heard or read, play this game for yourself. Enough is already been said about this game but in my eyes this was really a unique experience that deserves to be played. This is just my personal opinion, so feel free to think what you will about this :p

    Mich hat das Spiel komplett überfahren. Eine emotionale Achterbahnfahrt der Gefühle die einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterlassen hat. Ich kann nur hoffen das es trotz der großen Kritik, die ich beim besten willen nicht verstehen kann, weiterhin solche mutig erzählten Geschichten in Games gibt. Denn der Einheitsbrei einiger anderen großen Studios beginnt mich zu langweilen.

But the more I did the more I found out about the story, and the more I cared about the characters. I swear a bunch of underdeveloped prepubescent teens play this, and are immune to feelings. We got to see a whole other side of the story. Abby’s father straight up got murderer, so of course she wants revenge. Having to fight Ellie was insanely difficult as a player. And don’t get me started on the fear and intense moments of the game. I loved this game far more than Part 1. And the flashbacks do so much justice for the relationship of Ellie and Joel. A word to the wise, stop letting children play Rated M games. Or just keep them away from leaving ratings. Good job on the score metacritic.… Expand

    Wow, I am blown away by how good this game turned out. I just finished it last night and the ending left me feeling content but at the same time thinking. I love what they did with the characters, and the one controversial character death was absolutely fine with me. Yes it was a shocking moment (I cried a lot) but it drove the story forward and became the basis of the whole plot.

    Abby is a great new character. All it takes is getting over your initial hatred and realizing she is the same as Ellie, just a girl trying to survive and do what she thinks is best. She had good reason to do what she did. The ending really blew me away in how that dire and brutal story line could end on a bit more positive note but it really did it!
    Needless to say, the graphics, sound, animations, music and voice acting are all superb. This is already my game of the year, easily.    … Expand

This game starts off with a memory of joel and ellie after the events of the first game, and will end many years later, but the game in general will have a lot to show that might be questionable to some fans and will sit firm with some. After the game starts, you immediately feel the world and the characters, the combat feels nice and smooth and will change through difficulty, but the main focus here is the storyline, the storyline was intriguing and depressing but still interesting in a good way. This game wants to show us the amount of work and pressure was put into it, and the developers delivered the game will definitely go down in history for killing off a character other companies wouldn't dare to touch, joel sadly gets beaten by a golf club, but this will become the main story for the rest of the game, the story is hard to understand but if you take the time and really understand it you realize, everything comes together even if you might not like abby she will still become a relevant character that gets misunderstood because so many people think joel is a badass and untouchable, and although we think he is great, he would probably go down as the worst man in history because of his selfishness, joel ultimately gets killed by someone who wants a eye for an eye, and even to end this will be obvios and contributes to the story. Characters are as lovable as ever and will mostly be different which adds diversity and uniqueness to the game and im definitely going back in for another playthrough to see if i find new details on them. The combat doesn't get to much added but it still manages to feel more diverse and vast, but the gun combat will sometime feel just off but it usually doesn't matter because it goes back to its great gun combat almost immediately and stops the awkwardness. Overall The last of us part 2 will go down in history as a great sequel, and will not be doubted until you play the game for your self, but if you dont like the game its okay, thats just life… Expand

    Increíble el juego me gustó el primero y este está muy bien y lo mejora en muchos aspectos.
    Para mi the last of US 1 es un referente y mi juego preferido de PS3, este lo jugué con muchas dudas por las notas que aparecían y la gente decepcionada, a pesar de eso he disfrutado el juego muchísimo y aunque es muy cinematográfico y las horas de juego se podrían haber acortado un poco, lo veo    Increíble el juego me gustó el primero y este está muy bien y lo mejora en muchos aspectos.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Late to the party guys, but I am proud we got a game like TLoU2, even if its for me not the masterpiece it could have been. Part 1 was nearly perfect.

    Story

    The story had really really well made parts in it but all in all it wasnt really sth. new, even tho that dont have to be the case always to be good. But the most frustrating was that it was too predictable and I just dont get why we had to reroll it again after the fight with abby against Ellie. The third time was one to much and at the end Ellie couldnt do it either (to much plot armor).

    Besides that the cutscenes were so good, easily the best you could have imagine but I wanted more depth in the story to the apocalyptic world and not on the revenge part.

    Graphics

    Brutally good (just look at the god damn fingers while Ellie playing gitarre, stunning). Even on my Slim it looks fantastic. The worldbuilding, cutscenes, the transmission from gameplay to video sequences are perfect. I would have love more different assets and not only parts of seattle, that for I like the epiloque, cause it gives you more imagination of the apocalyptic world, they could have went for.

    Also why cant I disable this weird filter effect??

    Gameplay

    Here ist the problem for me in this game. Part 1 hadnt had the best Gameplay but with the compelling story it was okay. 7 years later I dont see much innovation and new mechanics. The weapons of Ellie feels boring and most of the sections are spoilering theirself by the way the section is builded.

    The AI of the companions is again stupid, but better as part 1. The Enemy AI is well made and way better (flanking a lot and trying to really kill you), in the epiloque it falls a little bit off by just sending you hordes of enemies in the way.

    With the part of Abby the combat becomes way more impactful and you really going to like playing it more action oriented. Also the "zombie" parts are very well down and kind of creepy.

    Summary

    All in all a very good game, which cant live up to his hype in my opinion. With 25 hours its defenitly worth playing but it couldnt reach Part 1.    … Expand

Потрясающе преданный контраст настроения персонажей до и после "рокового момента". Все исполнено на высочайшем уровне, виден титанический труд каждого участника разработки. Однозначно 10 из 10 и однозначно игра стоила тех лет, сколько её с нетерпением ждал. Словами не возможно передать те впечатления и эмоции, что дарит игра. В неё НУЖНО играть, её НУЖНО понимать и её НУЖНО прочувствовать. Искренне жаль тех, кто за пеленой ненависти и предубеждений так и не сумел в ней разглядеть то, что закладывал разработчик.… Expand

    The game is incredibly good. I have a lot of hours of joy and have huge respect for ND’s team. I know why some people don’t like it but I think that the plot was great and was done in a brave way. The gameplay, the characters, the story - all of it was 10/10.

Uma lacração que estragou a historia do jogo a naughty dog sempre fez grandes jogos com jak and dexter, crash bandicoot e principalmente a serie uncharted que é uma das maiores franquias da historia dos jogos com gameplay e historia incrivel. Já o the last of us part 2 me decepcionou pois. A historia que foi criada no primeiro foi totalmente destruida no part 2 que se transformou em uma lacração que não tem sentido sacrificaram o jogo para que o jogo fosse políticamente correto a favor da causa LGBT sendo que todos os jogadores estao cansados de lacração queremos jogar um jogo que não vem com essas bobeiras de lacração. A Microsoft não faz isso nos seus jogos e até mesmo a Sony não fazia mas com o the last of us part 2 fizeram e estragaram eu comprei pensando que era mentira os rumores. Mas me decepcionou por trazer um jogo pior que os rumores no qual estava certo.… Expand

    Ignore the nonsense user score. This game is an absolute masterpiece, and one of the very best games I have ever played.

    The characters, gameplay, acting, direction, graphics and story are outstanding. People claiming that the story is a simple revenge quest have really missed masses of clever detail & nuance. If you liked the first one, you’ll love this. Definitely get it.

Геймплей не особо поменялся, нпси такие же глупые как и были, новых механик не так много, но геймплей терпимый и хороший. История... было грустно в конце но через 5 минут понимаешь на сколько абсурдно это все. На душе пусто, потому что не такого конца я хотел для Элли Все выглядит как будто сон, нету реализма как в первой части. Элли просто так убивала десятки людей на своем пути, чтобы потом просто остановится увидев флешбек. Бред...

    While I didnt always like where the story was headed the way it was written (from dialogue to action) was excellent. Pacing can be touch and go but by the end you realize it's designed like that to make the player reflect. I totally cried at the end tho so be prepared.

    Jugabilidad, sonido, banda sonora, ambientación, escenarios, personajes y demás es en una palabra "Excepcional". La historia puede que sea un poco "simple" con lo de la venganza, pero es muy buena. Un juego que mejoró casi todo lo de la primera entrega.

What happened to Joel was was happened to Sarah in the first game except now it was someone we loved that we lost. Joel is far from perfect and we see that Ellie is no different and it takes a lot before she realises that she has to let something go otherwise it will drive her to madness. It happened right at the end before that realisation came and we had to witness it and it makes you realise that you yourself have gotten caught up in the idea of revenge that it's disappointing to not see Abby get what she deserves. Even after learning her reasoning behind killing Joel. That's life and it sucks. Sometimes you have to just let it go.

    The gameplay is much improved from the first game and the combat and inventory management is so much better. The world itself feels fuller and the infected are somehow even scarier. I think the Audio in the game is amazing and it helps make it more scarier.

    Playing as Abby is very jarring, especially once you get to Ellie. So much confliction. I can't wait for my second playthrough.    … Expand

    Gameplay is solid. That said, this game does not resolve their own plot and feels frustrating with Neutral outcome and no resolve at each step of all your efforts. Simply said you are irrelevant in the outcome of the Story.

    This game punishes you for loving the first game. While beautiful technically, story wise this game ruins everything created by the first game, even the clickers have no impact. This same story could be transported to any world with no difference. Just such a disappointment after so long a wait.

    The graphics are amazing, loved them. Story was trash, game of thrones season 8 style. Killed the franchise, characters were just so... so bad. The gameplay was pretty much the same with little to no variation, jump button was bullsh*t as it looked like a drunk person trying to leap with a twisted ankle. Anyone who loved the first game be warned, for disappointment.

    I was happy when they revealed a new last of us but now after 25 hours of playing I was so disappointed and I didn't feel anything after ending it and there is some good gameplay but doesn't work because the story is very very bad written . it's a game doesn't worth the wait

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us 2, in my opinion, gets a lot of undeserved hate. I think the one thing that people agree on is that the game is unnecessary, and that the first game was enough. However, that doesn't automatically make this game bad.
    First of all, obviously the graphics and gameplay are miles better than the first game, it's a lot easier to play and the environments are amazing, from riding around downtown Seattle to hiding in the underground, it's awesome. But story wise, a lot of people hate it. I personally like the story, and yes, the way Joel died SUCKED, it was really upsetting to see one of the most beloved game characters ever get in the head with a golf club, and maybe they could of changed the way he died, but it happend. I loved the game for the first half where tyou play as ellie, I didnt have one bad thing to say about it. And I enjoyed most of abby's play through as well, the only reason I gave this game a nine instead of ten is for the Chapter seattle day one (Abbys Version). At this point in the game I still hated abby and wanted her to die for what she did to Joel, and I did not think I would be playing as her again. I had no motivation to play the second half of the game as her, and really had a hard time playing the game. This changed by the time i got to seattle day 2 and I saw how nice abby actually was, but still, that solid 5 hours of gameplay in between stops this game from a 10/10. Furthermore, the attention to detail is beyond perfect, almost godlike. Every little inch of the game got the attention it deserved, from corners, items to drops of sweat.

    And now the story & gameplay. I don't know what people where expecting really. The setting is supposed to be 5 years later, even the characters should be more mature. The whole plot could have been a bit better, but I found that it was well connected with the first part. Seriously, did you people expect "to go find a cure yeahhh happy ending" after the first part? The whole is game is very well created, I enjoyed it a lot more than the first one. It's got a lot of "wow" moments, a lot of adrenaline unexpected moments, LOTS of violence and it's creepy/horror-ish AF. How can you NOT like that? Especially the Abby parts are very well made.

    The only downside actually (and that is why i give it a 9) was that for the most part, the gameplay is pretty much the same as the first part. It's very well made, has added parts to it, more weapons etc, but after 7 years I guess they could have made it a bit more interactive and a bit more interesting. I kinda enjoyed the Abby parts more because of that, it was kinda refreshing. Playing as Ellie felt like Part 1 with better graphics.

    If you are still thinking about giving this game a go, just go ahead. If you are someone with at least average IQ who can appreciate something well made you are going to like it. Of course you don't have to give this game a 8+ rating (ok tastes differ) but there's got to be something very wrong with you if you don't enjoy it at least a bit.    … Expand

Have been waiting so long for a sequel. When i found out that the game was leaked i tried my best to stay away from spoilers. Everything about the game was great except it's story. Joel didn't deserve to go out like that. I expected that he would die in the sequel but why did you have to kill him off just two hours into the game,he deserved better than this. This game is all about dealing with the repercussions of what Joel did in the first game, because what he did was bad and if you think otherwise then that's your problem. Ellie gets hit the hardest with these repercussions and loses not only Joel but her own humanity, only regaining it at the end of the game. If you loved the first The Last of Us game, story and characters, please, for the love of God, do NOT play this game! Naughty Dog does everything possible to ruin and destroy the story, dynamics and bonds earned and enjoyed with the original beautigul The Last of Us story. For example, in the beginning if the game, they Kill Joel (a Trans Abby smashes his head in with a golf club while licking her lips and slurping down the blood, skull and brain matter that splatters on her face, all the while moaning in ecstasy), then, after about 10 hours as Ellie, SJW Naughty Dog has the utter audacity to force you to play as Trans-Abby (the one that smashed in Joel's head with a golf club), and begins changing the narrative by painting Joel and Ellie as the "Bad Guys" while making the "new" Trans- Abby character into a "Superhuman-Superhero", aka "Marry Sue", meaning "IT" is now the most powerful character in the game, all the while painting "it" as a poor, victimized "thing" that has suffered so much at the evil and despicable hands of Joel and Ellie, that we MUST all feel sorry for "IT" and grant "IT" the revenge "IT" deserves by giving Abby the privilege and the obligatory, anointed right of sadistically, maliciously, brutally, maiming, destroying and finally murdering our beloved and cherished Ellie and Joel characters in conjunctionwith the e tire original The Last of Us storyline! But even though I was mistaken when buying the game, I was not disappointed in the least. If the game was broken I would understand it, but the big change was the story, which brought something more engaging and the most important of all: something different from anything I've ever seen. I was never a big fan of games, I never cared who I killed or why I was doing that, TLOU P2 showed me why I do this and most impressively, that I should feel guilty about those deaths and that all actions have a reaction.
    Telling the story from two points of view was an excellent move by ND and involved me more in the story. The gameplay was incredibly perfect and fits perfectly with what the game proposes. The violence that the game shows is a faithful reflection of what an apocalypse would be where a small survivor like Ellie would have to do to survive and that makes his actions heavier and more monstrous.
    Something that I think is important is not to get carried away by the negative criticism for the "fan base", because I read several and I conclude that not all of them are of importance since the only argument is that the game would be bad or because of a lesbian relationship , which I think complaining about is backward behavior and shouldn't affect the game's evaluation.
    I claim without the slightest fear that The Last of Us Part II is one of, if not the most perfect game I've played.     The gameplay was really tense and exciting and the last four hours of the game had me up until stupid o'clock.

    This outing from Sony & Naughty Dog leaves a lot to be awnsered for.
    The shining jewel of its predecessor makes The Last of Us 2 look like a budget film instead of a master piece with disenchanting and hopeless narrative that has little to no depth but to push pandering to the masses in a forced perspective to compensate for its lack of natural story telling.

    When the game starts you see many improvements to the core aspect of the game with a more open world rather than the normal linear formula that Naughty Dog is known for. This is pushed further thanks to the amazing graphics something that the original achieved also however Naughty Dog has improved further on this.

    The biggest fault comes with the story. While other games may get away with bad stories a game that is based around its story and what made the original such an amazing game faulters hard. There is so much missing it feels like the story was a rush job created on a SFJ groups homework page. However this is made even more apparent when you take into consideration that amount of detail in the world and its surrounding reaching borderline obsesive. The story on the other hand seems an after thought not the main focus. Even when characters die thats it. Characters that die are forgotten just as quick as they were there. There is no detailed respect show for there deaths and no second thought. This makes these secondary characters none essential and no emotional link is ever really made.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It was a hard start. I liked the part with Ellie overall a lot. I felt the hate she felt. Then came the part with Ebby that I hated mostly especial when i had to fight Ellie. Then came the secend part with Ellie I wished not happend, because I hopen she left her revenge like Ebby did. When I found Ebby and Ellie wanted to fight her no matter what, I hated Ellie. Ebby was broken and I didn't wanted to fight her. I was happy they stoped fighting and both gone there way.
    Overall I understand the way Naughty Dog go there. And I understood the message. And yeah I liked it a lot at the end.    … Expand

    To whoever reads these user ratings. Ignore the noise. Most haven’t even completed the game or they are merely pissed about the characters and the plot not going their way.

    This story is absolutely one for the books and you need to play this game. It is an emotional rollercoaster that will take some huge twists and turns. It is a great sequel and a great Naughty Dog game.

It had a dissapointing story, features lesbian characters, gameplay was a bit bad and what's worse, it won the game of the year 2020. Why did The last of us part 2 win the game of the year awards when you have really good games such as ghost of tushima, doom eternal, cyberpunk 2077, hades, animal crossing new horizons, Spider-Man miles morales and the most anticipated video game demon souls. I highly recommend you to play the other the last of us games except for the last of us part 2.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
