    but man if you want a good story with believable characters just play a game called last of us 1, it is pretty sick.i cant see how tlou2 should be worthwhile FOR ANYONE when there are literally hundreds of better games out there. if you really want to continue ellies and joels story it saddens me to say but you cant. all you get from part 2 is some crippling depression without any conclusion or overall theme, which made the first one so good.

    Neil Druckmann simply took and ripped out heart from the fans. They did not care about everything, the main thing is to work out the agenda of minorities. He forever destroyed the story ... even the first part will now be apprehensively remembered. He has no forgiveness.

    Disappointment is no limit.

    Ellie loses everything and totally destroyed. How could that ever match the previous one and so become gratifying, to be a satisfactory story and gaming experience? All the positive reviews must be fake, done by paid journalist even though some might like it.     Just look at the stats: 11000 positive, 1100 Mixed and 25000 Negative reviews.

    This game was the brain-fart of the Niel Druckmann and Halley Gross. Westworld never mixed with LOU from the start.

    But what is most disturbing is Druckmann's and other's responses: ridiculing and mocking the fans, calling them haters, bigots and alike without a second thought instead of listening to their true concern and issues with the game! They can be so ignorant and arrogant because of their previous successes, what exactly the players expected and deeply trusted him. But they were betrayed.

    But why is that a so successful studio receives only 3.4 user rating? It cannot be just because of some lesbian action, it is because they destroyed everything, for the sake of forcing Druckmann's degenerate agenda!

    Ask yourself the question: do you want to play this game because of Last Of Us or because you want to play the character Abby who destroyed everything you found dear in the Last Of Us?    … Expand

    El juego gráficamente es sorprendente, el sonido te envuelve a cada instante, las mecánicas del juego son muy buenas y nuevas, pero es imposible disfrutar todo esto cuando la historia no es tan buena como debería ser, personajes mal desarrollados y muertes prematuras,.

    One of the best games of the generation. Like it’s predecessor, the last of us part II comes with a rough but deep history about the revenge and it’s consequences. As we could expected from naughty dog, the narrative is solid and polish, where the character’s development being the main aspect. In it’s technical aspects the game also is brilliant, with amazing graphics and details, and aOne of the best games of the generation.     Aggravating story is why this game gets a 0. I came to this game FOR the story. The gameplay gets old fast but that would be forgivable if the story was one I enjoyed... or if it even made sense. Amazing visuals. Good music. It doesn’t redeem this one though.

    A complete disappointment. This game has a story which does no justice to the beloved character from the original game and at the end of the game as a player you will feel like an idiot for sitting through this depressing s*it show and spending your money on it. All the beautiful visual and sound is not a big surprise as it is expected from a game releasing in 2020.

Guess they cant come up with an actual good story in the time that most studios can. They did so much right in terms of character design in the first game. You played as a smart man who was alive due to the sole reason that he wasnt stupid. So what do they do in this game, that make him into the prize clown. Who the hell just announces who they are to a bunch of strangers. And when he can clearly tell that something is very wrong when he says his name, what does he do? He blindly remarks to them, you guys act like you know who we are? Stupid and lazy story telling. Also, they make you play as the person who killed him. Maybe it would have worked if we played all her back story before she kills joel, that way we can understand her side. But instead she does it right out of the gate and it makes her completely unbearable to play as for the rest of the game… Expand

    I paid full price for this game and gods it’s horrible, the same lame repeatedly gameplay, graphics is good, but the facial animations of certain characters is horrible, and of course main problem is story which truly horrible piece of brown substance. Don’t waste your money and time, save your money for cyberpunk or any other game

    Afterwards they may have sold joel too much in cinematics with the impression that he would go a little way with us in his quest for revenge and that would be prejudicial to Naughty Dog.

    Graph 9/10 (I found the PROLOGUE very ugly compare following the story to believe that it was not the same people who worked on the game)

    Gameplay and graphics were both fantastic. However, this is a story game and the story fell flat.
    It was filled with plot holes, shock value for the sake of shock value, and the only meaning to find behind any of it was childish and shallow.

    Clearly some websites and youtubers were paid to give it a 10/10, if Naughty Dog or Sony give my money back I can change this and give it a 10/10

    And after all the leaks and spoilers right before launching the game, makes a even worse experience

    i saw at the most of the reviews of this game were positive so i bought it, but that was a mistake. i didn't read any of the leaks before buying and finishing the game and now i regret not looking at the leaks because i just wasted 70 euro.

I’m a fan of the original so the 6 is based on nostalgia and improvements to gameplay but the story makes the score form hitting the 7-10 range. The fact a sequel isn’t needed will also hurt the game a bit in my opinion, but let’s begin. I genuinely enjoyed exploring the city of Seattle, the notes left behind by survivors and flowing the clues to the next note till the end. Reminded me of Bethesda’s story telling through books and letters. I also enjoyed the story of Ellie but less so Abby’s story. After the disturbing way Naughty Dog (Druckmann) betrayed the fan base and killed Joel in a very contrived Brutal way (only for shock value) did playing Abby (Joel’s) killer make me just hate her, and being forced to play her and have Naughty Dog try and make her actions before and after work just falls flat. For the pros of the game, The graphics are beautiful, the melee combat is slightly improved the gore in amazing and being able to play in the world I loved from the original will always be fun. The cons, Joel dies in a unjustified way. The story is poorly written, mostly for Abby’s time in the story. Controversial topics being brought up like Lesbians (if for some reason people care) and transgenderism do seem thrown in at times for no actual reason and any attempts to go into those discussions are just mediocre at best and useless at worst. Overall 6 because.… Expand

    I spent my money, spent my f**king sleep time, to play this game, along with a merda experience, ending like I was the silliest and cruelest man, everyone I killed in game was good and innocent, the girl I hated is an amazing angel. You did very well, naughty dog, and now let the players teach you what’s the consequence of being naughty.

    I wish the game wasn’t so linear and force-fed I wish that I had the options to choose which route to take and which direction to go choosing between a good ending and a bad ending for more replay ability however this game leaves me no choice and it made me feel sick to my stomach

Game was not rewarding and the ending sucked. Ellie never got to have her moment. She lost her father figure, her family and her fingers. Goes on a quest for a revenge and kills a bunch of people to get to the person that killed Joel to then decide that killing is bad and allows the murderer to get away. The 1st game story was alot better (story). Terrible experience! Don't play , save your time and money!… Expand

    Abby storyline, builds a connection with the shehulk we all know and hate. If done properly we might like her. We can see her struggles and the impact joels actions had on her life.

    Next: Abby goes on a perilous journey, tracking down joel, learning a lot about herself along the way. Meets new people, has new experiences, hears new stories.

    End: abby reaches Jackson and sees joel and tommy on patrol, not knowing its them. As joel and tommy are walking down the road, abby pops out from behind something to ask questions about joel. Joel, then asks why shes looking for a "joel" and she doesn't explain. Joel then shoots her right in the **** face. Roll credits    … Expand

This is expected at this point in the generation and is not why we are here. So, why is the story so shockingly bad?

    Characters just kind of wander from place to place, the interactions often leave you feeling dry, characters are paper thin, and on top of this it is littered with McGuffins and plot holes. It is a constant barrage of shock value moments, that leave you scratching your head in the end. This is a failure of storytelling on almost every conceivable level. TLOUS part 2 is how Not to do a Naruto revenge plot and is a wasted opportunity.     Downsides: Its plot, no one gives a **** about Abby because she was not introduced before, and then suddenly out of nowhere she kills the main protagonist, one, if not the most loved character by the people that played The Last of Us before and then we are obligated to play her if we want to move on playing. I'm no writer, but this is **** up, I can see Joel dying, no problem but Joel isn't stupid, in The Last of Us (Part 1) he RAN OVER A GUY THAT WAS FAKING BEING IN PAIN AND NEEDED HELP, he had survival instinct, and he wouldn't take any chance, suddenly he is inside a house with armed strangers he does not know, in the middle of the room, not even keeping his back safe just waiting to die, if you want to kill Joel you could at least maintain him into character. And then the conclusion, horrendous, let me say I did enjoy the detail that Ellie lost 2 fingers and she couldn't play the music Joel taught her, as a way to say that she lost more than gained. But she killed over 100 people at the very **** least to get to Abby and then she has a change of heart? That is not how it works, it's ok to murder a pregnant woman to get to the woman you want and then you don't kill her, its inconsistency.
    I guess The Last of Us 2 was meant to make us feel the cold world that they live in, but guess what, I and many other people didn't feel **** we felt like the 7 years of waiting were completely shat on, killing Joel that way didn't make me go sad and all, it just made me pissed, he could have died coldly that is not what this is about, just had to **** kill him and made his death mean something, anything, it isn't worth killing a beloved character for the purpose of showing that the world is bad and cold, it is worth to kill him, with purpose, thing he didn't even have since Ellie didn't **** kill Abby, and got the revenge. You don't kill every **** person you see, that weren't even related to the death of Joel to have a change of heart at the end with the goddamn killer right in front of you.
    I'm honestly just going to believe that this whole joke was the aftermath of Ellie smoking weed with Dina and she just had a nightmare, a bad trip.    … Expand

    gameplay wise, great but not phenomenal.
    Story wise, knowing it's subjective but for me is a no. It seems like ND is trying too hard on virtual signalling, rather than crafting a plausible story like the previous title, they have instead focus on characters that don't make any sense. And as a gay man, I feel offended by ND try to use us as an excuse to defend the flaws of the story plots.

Nothing makes the player feel motivated to 'get revenge' as the entire reason players enjoyed the first game is destroyed in the beginning. What is the point of getting revenge if the developers remove the reason you picked the game up in the first place?

    It is nice to see LGBT characters central to the plot and their relationship doesn't feel overly forced, but their writing is so banal you don't even want to try caring about their protection. They go off on long, uninteresting conversations as if the writers are trying to make the writing and their backstories feel real, but it just comes off us predictable and bothersome.

    There is really nothing interesting gameplay wise that this game does better than any of its contemporaries; you walk into a new area and know exactly where the next firefight will take place after you reach the next cutscene.
    This is pretty much the underlying disappointment of this game - it is entirely predictable in every aspect.

    They say the game is being review-bombed for its inclusion of LGBT content and 'ugly' central antagonist, but may I suggest that it may be getting review bombed by the professional gaming industry with positive reviews because they WANT and NEED it to succeed.

    This is a complete failure in story-telling, character development, the thematic ties to its setting, originality and ultimately being a successor to one of the most beloved games of the 21st century.

    It just sucks. Sure, the graphics are great, the gun play is fun, but the story is just bad, so very bad. It feels like it is written by a 14 yr old, angsty girl who just went through her first breakup.

TLOU 1 was probably the best single player gaming experience i ever had.     Devs apparently forgot what made the first game a masterpiece and disrespectfully threw it out the window, just to replace it with a crappy story worthy of the simplest soap operas and went all in the side aspects that don’t even deliver, such as creating larger levels that give you the illusion of choice that’s not there, exploration that hardly is rewarded, dated combat and crafting system, puzzles where the only challenge is to keep yourself together whilst having to do the same boring and unappealing quest again and again, and so many more.
    Obviously, the expectations for this game since day 1 were too high for everyone to be ever satisfied but I can’t really figure how they could’ve messed up the story any more than they have.
    Extra things to keep in mind: full of glitches, same combat system than the first game bit a few minor additions, ultra repetitive gameplay.
    Technically speaking they did a great job but to me it’s all taken away by the fact that they focused on the wrong aspects and that is widely known how much they overwork and burn out their devs.
    I truly hope that there are repercussions about the shameless false advertising that their team pulled off since I’m 100% sure that without tricking their fan base their sales would’ve been a lot less.
    They will keep on deleting bad reviews with bot pretext and accusing fans of bigots whilst the bast majority if us loved the first game and the DLC as well.

    Absolutely awful. Extremely disappointed in the way the story played out and how poorly it was written. I've been patiently waiting for seven years for this game and WAS a massive fan of the first. If you are debating on purchasing this game...just don't. Where to begin?

    First of all, Joel dies. Okay fine. People die. However, as others point out it seems like someone writing the story just wanted to rush to get rid of him.

    As we've learned from TLOU1, Joel is very untrusting of strangers. In TLOU2 he is also wanted by many people. So why is he giving his name and location to strangers? Very poor writing. I found the way he died to be in very poor taste as well. Abby. Trans? Okay. I'm fine with that. Being forced to play as her(?) after killing Joel? Why? What exactly is this suppose to convey to the player? That she had her(?) own motivation for Joel's murder? I don't care about Abby or her reasons. Yes, it's an post apocalyptic wasteland where people die every day, but why force us to play as some irrelevant character? Why have Joel killed by said irrelevant character? Imagine if this same formula was used in your favorite movie/TV show. Would Breaking Bad be as great if Walt died in the second season and the protagonist got replaced by some random character we weren't emotionally invested in? How about if Frodo gets killed by an Orc and then we have to spend a full movie with a POV of said Orc? This formula doesn't work. Joel dying towards the end by saving Ellie and telling her how he views her as a daughter wouldn't have left such a sour taste in my mouth. Or anything close to that. What really gets me is I remember seeing trailers of TLOU2 where you play as Joel further on in the story. It feels like the same scenes and game play were replaced by other characters in the actual game, so it's like Naughty Dog lied. Also, the directors self insert into the game where he has sex with Abby just felt weird.

    Yes, you read that correctly. The director of TLOU2 made a character of himself in the game and had sex with the trans character. Again, why?

    Playing on, the game just feels boring, repetitive, and pointless. I guess it's cool if your someone who's in 30 straight hours of torture porn. Ellie eventually tracks down Abby and kills her out of revenge? No. She let's Abby go. Because killing another human being is wrong...or something like that. Ya know, despite the fact she did not hesitate to kill hundreds of people since the start of her journey in TLOU1.

    Without a doubt, the story in this game is so bad I honestly don't want to play the first one anymore. It's like a close friend who got on drugs and then stole $60 from you. You don't want to go back to that friendship despite the good times you guys had.

    For all the "journalists" and "critics" saying people hate this game because it has LGBT+ characters in it. No. I'm glad companies are being inclusive to other groups, but the story in this game is just bad. To quote Neil Druckmann, director of TLOU2, "The Last of Us Part 2 isn't for everyone. I'd rather have people passionately hate it than just be like, 'Yeah, it was okay.'"

    Welp, you got your wish buddy. What a massive disappointment. So much wasted potential to what could have been the best game of 2020, maybe even the decade. This game was a huge let down. I will never purchase another Naughty Dog game.    … Expand

    I think what Naughty Dog did with the last of us part 2 is disgusting. Naughty dog lied to my face they said that Joel will be a playable character well if you count that 30 seconds horse riding at the begining of the game than **** yourself and also they have said that Ellie will be the only playable character in the game thats an other lie because after the first half oft the game you will be playing with a stranger who killed Joel brutally and you have to play with that character and the game wants you to love that character who killed Joel who i think one of my favourite gaming characters of all time. The second half of the story is unnecessary and cringe when i was playing with that stranger character whose name is Abby i felt disgusted because i did not want to play with her they tried to show the other side of the war and the people who we were killing with Ellie aren't evil and they have human sides too but they could have done it in only 1 chapter not in 3. At the second part of the game i felt like that Naughty dog ran out of ideas and they just mixed up something very fast. Not to forget that the ending of the game is really bad because when you are fighting with Abby and in the end Ellie can't kill her i mean i can see what Naughty Dog tried to show us that killing enybody isnt gonna solve anything but this is how it has to be ? Every major character in the game got killed and in the end i felt like i did this whole thing for nothing. The last os us 1 wast great because of its great characters and memorable father and daughter story line for Joel and Ellie but the second episode just lacks everything which the first was so good in.    … Expand

    A fantastic storytelling mixed with improvement on the first game's gameplay made one of the best games experiences I've ever had!
    And the representativity matters! A strong LGBT female lead is a natural and effective way of doing that!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've just finished the game. It is an excellent game and it plays really fluently, in terms of game play mechanics. I really liked the refine combat system, especially the dodging and directional dodging. A long, and I bet, awaited feature since the prelude. And the music monumentally outclasses everything below it. It done a great deal with reflecting the right emotion with whatever moment was present in the game. The visuals for a 2013 hardware is incomparable from what I have seen, you can't deny that. I have recently completed the original TLOU game.

    Towards the end of TLOU II and throughout parts of the game, I was simply put, left confused.

    I am not a person to bash on a game heavily. But from what I have played from my experience, to focus on the core characters, and then to veer off to a different set of characters with different lives and intentions doesn't seem to play well with the masses. Very risky move

    When playing as Abby, we are fed the narrative that her life has meaning, is innocent and sweet. And then we are made question Ellie's mission and objective. We can't let part II take away the core characters from the prelude and neglect them, is what I felt was the intention here. I feel that they are neglected in favor for getting a viewpoint from Abby's life. There is no significant breakthrough backstory for Abby. Which I thought was disappointing. She was mundane to play overall. But in the end, were made feel as if all that Ellie has done, is made out to do bad on her journey, fueled by revenge. The compensation for playing as Abby is the empathy you endure as her, but for Ellie it is made out to be a huge task and strenuous. It was evidently confusing to me at first. But these are stark missions both these troubling characters endured on. And for the majority, i'd imagine so too. What I have said so far is a heavily personal on my behalf.

    You always should look on the flip side too, after playing through all of Abby's perspective, maybe Ellie was pushing her luck a bit too much all along, maybe it was meant to be. Who knows. Ellie was always troublesome with the truth. Both were on the same mission and motivation of getting revenge. The longer I go, the more it lingers to me that these new characters introduced in part II, were in a time where Joel and Ellie also happened to exist. You can't really feel for one over the other, when you have new character developments.

    I don't want to get into any stereotypical, racial biases in this game that people discuss. We just got to learn to accept that these are people with their own different beliefs in this game. I have nothing wrong with that. But personally, I truly believe in the ying/yang dynamic, especially with the gender types.

    The developers were very brave to pull such a feat, 7 years of development for this plot. Bold moves set by Naughty Dog. I was just left in a state of confusion. I have nothing inherently bad to say about the story line at all. It's imperative to keep who the core characters are. I might need to replay this game to fully understand the complexities that Part II brings. I want to accept things for what they are. For this game as it stands at the moment, It's going to take a long time...    … Expand

    First half was great. Dark, violent, and interesting. Second half was awful. Boring, tedious combat. Storyline was poorly written and bizarre. They should’ve stopped at the midpoint. I’ll never buy another naughty dog game on release day again.

The first game was phenomenal, amazing story with believable characters that we grew to care for. However for some reason they just decided to throw the impact and everything the first game set out to do away with part 2. Why, WHY would they think it’s a good idea to have a character we’ve never even heard of until this game, kill the most important and beloved character of this world they’ve built, in the first few hours of the game? Not only that, but make the players take control of this person for more than half the game? Playing the game and completing the story did not make me sympathize for this character WHATSOEVER. Putting the amazingly put together gameplay, graphics, and voice acting aside, the absolutely infuriating narrative completely destroys the experience. Hopefully Naughty dog will learn from this because this game had so much potential to be better than its predecessor. I’m gonna go replay Uncharted 4 now.… Expand

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
