    Funny how so many of the 0/10 user reviews this game has received were posted on the day of release...imagine angrily playing your whole way through a 0/10 game for 20 or so hours and then going straight on metacritic in the remaining few hours of the day in order to post your user review.

    Or maybe the 0/10 reviews are from people who haven't actually played the game and have instead    Funny how so many of the 0/10 user reviews this game has received were posted on the day of release...imagine angrily playing your whole way through a 0/10 game for 20 or so hours and then going straight on metacritic in the remaining few hours of the day in order to post your user review.

    Or maybe the 0/10 reviews are from people who haven't actually played the game and have instead somehow taken personal offence to the storyline of an intellectual property they have no ownership over.

    Contrary to the incel/sexist/proudboy signalling 0/10 reviews, this game is actually incredibly well made, both the story and gameplay are riveting and brutal and the voice and mocap acting is second to none.

    If you are someone who judges a book by it's cover, a person by their sexual persuasion, gender or build, or a man by the way they express their feelings this game probably isn't for you, and it's makers don't care if you don't like it, because you're not a good person.    … Expand

    I'm gay myself. and I can definitely say that even if you add a vegan non-binary trans person in the game it will not make it better. the ending is a spit in the face for the real die-hard fans of the franchise like myself. I was beyond excited and now I'm just sad because the last of us story is ruined for me forever. there is no coming back from this.

In the second game, they completely destroy everything that you loved about the story and characters you grew to love. Gameplay is good, but that's not what I am here for. It reminds me of the Star Wars Skywalker trilogy, taking characters and story and completely tossing them aside to make room for new characters that no one cares about. I had such high hopes for this franchise, but it seems that these days it just isn't worth getting attached to any series. 1/10… Expand

    Me and my friend just beat the game and it's just bad the game play and graphics as great but this game is marketed and sold purely on is narrative witch sucks it's nothing more then a badly done revenge story. It's amazing the first God of War trilogy did the revenge story so well while The last of us 2 does it so poorly considering there both Sony games.

After seeing the initial leaks I was disappointed too, but upon finishing the game for myself I can safely say that Naughty Dog made nothing short of a masterpiece. So much so I felt I had to try and help the user score by creating this account.     In my honest opinion, I thought this game was amazing. I have spent the past 3 days playing through this game and have finally completed it. I especially fell in love with the gameplay mechanics, graphics and the audio. I couldn't seem to get off the game as I kept on wondering what would happen next to Ellie in her adventures. I also enjoyed the more enhanced horror to the game which madeIn my honest opinion, I thought this game was amazing.     I've rarely been affected this much by a game. It's an artistic achievement beyond anything that has been done before now in a video game. It'll make you happy, it'll make you angry (some people are so angry by the content of the game that they've stopped playing it!). I cannot stress how incredibly important this game is for the gaming industry as a whole, but for entertainment in general.

This is a story about an apotalitic world where rules do not exist, ellie and Joel are two persons in the middle of these and they are exposed to all the dangers as much as other person in this world. I actually played the game and I really didn't like to play with Abby half of the game, less hours with her would be great, but it's good to see other views, life styles and the communities that exist in this world, and I think that is only possible playing with a character completely different. This game is about that world and not just Joel and ellie. Don't hate this game just because it's different to what we expected and give a chance.

The reason we all wanted a sequel was to see how the relationships of the characters we know and love are doing and maybe meet some new faces along the way. We all wanted to visit some old friends but nope naughty dog said forget that and throw pretty much a new cast of unlikable and unredeemable people for us to play as while completely disrespecting our main characters in every possible way. Very uncharacteristic decisions are made by our Joel Tommy and Ellie which without we don’t have this forced story. I love the first game so much I would call it my favorite game of all time without a doubt. This one however Is completely disrespectful. The flashback with Joel and Ellie at the museum is beautiful and especially where he sings Pearl Jam for her !! That’s what we want and I give those parts of the game a solid 10 so I’ll give the game a 1 just for those scenes alone but the store is a solid negative 7… Expand

    This is just sad, the last of us is and will be always in my heart, i loved the old naughty dog studio and what they did, i loved Amy Hennig's work while she was in naughty dog. This game is an insult to all fans who loved the last of us and the emotions they felt with that beautiful story that could now be something wonderful. Just sad.

Yeah, that we have to play the half of the game with a character everybody hates isn't cool, but in the end there are more positive points then negatives. When you are a fan of Part 1, try the second one. The only very very bad thing about the game is, that Naughty Dog killed Joel after we saw him just 10 minutes. Just try the game and form your own opinion. Last but not least I have to say that the look and sound of the game are breathtaking. Disclaimer I thought more about this than I should and vented twice to my parents, (who don’t play games) I am grading this purely on the story. The visuals are beautiful the clickers and stealth gameplay are still pretty fun, even if the AI are **** dumb or dead eye shots on and off. The story was absolutely trash that is why i am grading this and hopefully helping someone save 60 dollars and 20 plus hours of their life
    I knew they were going to kill Joel, because god forbid they make a second game with both characters. But the fact they **** this up this Badly is mid boggling.
    I liked the first 10hrs with flash backs of Joel
    Why didn’t they keep doing that AND MAKE JOEL PLAYABLE IN THOSE PARTS.
    Instead they make you play half the game as a character I actively want dead and follow a **** redemption arc, for what? You think it’s going to make me like her? It didn’t. I wanted her dead from beginning to end. Then you make me use her to fight Elle?
    Absolutely trash.
    Then I thought they were going to save it at the very end and kill her and they **** it again to just end Elle by herself minus 2 fingers. This is as absolute trash story telling as the last episode of Dexter.
    I would have given this game a 0 for story but for people who don’t care about Joel or Elle they may enjoy the mechanics and style of game play.

But a graphic trans sex scene, and being forced to play as a gay character is a little much.. The storyline is weak sauce. Remembering the first game of the series, I understand why it deserves 9-10. It was a finished work with a clear structure. Last of us 2 destroys everything that we experienced in the first half. At the very beginning of the game, they kill Joel (This was the key character of last of us 1). Ellie, who witnessed this, goes to avenge it. But the game then itself embraces that it had no reason for it. She was made a character who, like a maniac, enjoys the very process of killing. The ending of the game destroyed the hope of the adequacy of the creators of the game. At the very end, in the confrontation between Ellie and Abby, I did not want to do anything, just put the gamepad aside and accept the fate. But the game counted my defeat, that is, ND made a decision for me to beat the character Abby, who fully redeemed the guilt. In terms of gameplay, the plus or minus game remained the same. The storytelling is so lazy and sloppy. The flashbacks were written decent but they were all over the place and seemed to come too late for some of the characters to have any redemption. The scene everyone is upset about was poorly executed, like most of the writing in this game.

Some people complain about the abundance of resources but I never thought of this as an issue since a major part of the game takes place the area is riddled with enemies, and you are tasked xploring a city with an armed forced marching around and in another half on the side of the large armed force,therefore the abundance of reaources makes sense.     Upon downloading The Last Of Us 2, and preparing my PS4 hard drive for a 100GB haul, I couldn't help but notice all the poor user reviews, shortly after the game had released. I thought The Last Of Us 2 was being judged too early or judged wrongfully. I have played the entire campaign, searched for all possible extra dialogue, and cinematic moments. I hereby present you with my review of The Last Of Us 2.

    I will be evaluating the game based on the core elements of a presentation. Beginning with visuals, soundtrack, environmental sounds, minuscule details, gameplay, ending with an emotional reaction.

    Visuals: If we are judging The Last Of Us 2's visual presentation off of the previous entry, the lengths and bounds Naughty Dog stretched this game had my PS4 cranking out heat like an oven. The Last Of Us 2 pushed the PS4 to its absolute limits, given its 30FPS gameplay, even at a 1080P resolution. Furthermore, if we are drawing comparisons between modern triple-A titles, The Last Of Us is up to par with modern titles in terms of visual fidelity. The grand change I noticed was the world's foliage, and lighting system. Naughty Dog truly implemented a realistic lighting tone, with impeccable volumetric lighting, stable darks in lightless areas, and pure god rays to look at, as I was admiring the game's densely forested areas. Gameworld design I personally believe falls into the visual department, as it directly affects the way the player interacts with the environment, however from a gameplay perspective, it is easily as formidable; I will touch on that in the gameplay section. However, the new ways of exploring, and maneuvering about in the game world have kept some core components, yet in addition added new elements of discovery, by borrowing them from other Naughty Dog titles, Uncharted for example.

    Soundtrack: The soundtrack, in my opinion, was one of the main selling points for the original Last Of Us, Naughty Dog kept that in mind. the emotional, yet intense gameworld is invigorating with a complimentary soundtrack to assist in the delivery. Whether a subtly guitar is playing while you stride along an overgrown road, or the mad violin, and deep bass when engaging in a firefight, it captures your attention with ease. I found myself just stopping when traveling across this incredibly dense game world, to a simple look, and listen to what was in front of me.

    Environmental Sounds: I made the executive decision to separate soundtrack with etc sounds present within the game world, and for good reason, I might add. I was playing The Last Of Us 2 on a 75' 1080P TV, with a 5.2 system. The Last Of Us 2 is beautifully optimized for audio density, as holds true with its audio options for a deeper configuration. Furthermore, while traversing within the world, I found myself stopping frequently, to listen around me. Whether it was a bush whistling with the wind, a word building creaking with every step I took, or the horrifying clicking sound from behind, the sounds kept me engaged with what was going on within that time, yet caused me to get lost in my own amusement.

    Minuscule Details: I could see how this point could come off gimmicky, however for players who stop to appreciate the smallest of touches a developer cared enough to implement, this might be for you. I am a sucker for a tiny detail, whether it is how the grass realistically reacts to the wind direction, how Abby's ponytail changes the shoulder it folds over depending on her momentum and direction, or how stagnant puddles of water simulate a real-time reflection, relative to the way the player looks at the puddle; The Last Of Us 2 hands players these small, yet rememberable details in spades.

    Gameplay: Ah, gameplay. This is where Naughty Dog was wise with their executive decision about combat. Some sequel games attempt to alleviate the monotony of past games with all new combat, completely doing a 180 on past players. The Last Of Us 2 retains the prior games combat style, yet subtly implements new areas that feel organic, and natural to how Ellie would traverse an environment. The addition of new weapons, crafting recipes, upgrade paths, and foes to face; The Last Of Us 2 is a better version of the previous game Naughty Dog provided us.

    Emotional Reaction: This section will purely be my personal reaction to The Last Of Us 2 as a whole. To, attempt to summarize my emotions towards this game, I can not put it in few words, or words at all for that matter. Ones who had the privilege of playing the first game, we all remember how emotionally attached we were to Joel, and Ellie on their journey to save the lives of all. Naughty Dog left an impact on the world with their masterpiece of a game.    … Expand

It did not have the hope/grief rollercoaster of the first game. It just made me feel dull and empty and profoundly sad at the end. But that was the point right? Vengeance is a terribly bad idea, yet completely understandable and supportable. Cycle of violence and whatnot. Revenge is how worlds go to **** Message received naughty dog. The creator (smash that early life fam) hated how much everyone resonated with the white male father being the hero, so he set out to to destroy everything he made in the first to subvert it. Whereas the "bad guys" were zombies, anarchy, and oppression, now they are order, gender norms, and Joel.. The original was a touching story of a budding father daughter relationship and overcoming PTSD, that was quite literally the only video game that mad me cry. Look even if you're "liberal" understand the overt political and racist message along with a terrible work environment caused multiple people to quit mid development and others to leak the insane details in hopes they would back down.

    I cannot stress this enough the bad guys are evil white Christians, and a transexual Teenager with a golf club, this is one of the most ridiculous presentations of a game ever.    … Expand

I'll start out by saying this- although it made Joel look stupid and completely out of character, his death wasn't actually a deal breaker for me. It made Joel's decision (to choose Ellie over saving lives) become realized as a truly wrong decision that brought some serious consequences his way and gave Ellie some serious motivation. I was actually liking the game 5-6 hrs in and thought it had some great heart felt moments that reminded me of the strong emotional connection between Ellie and Joel. The flash backs seemed like a great way of keeping Joel in the game and giving us more of that dynamic, while simultaneously reminding us that he was gone and to feel that huge loss. I'll also say that I've liked the franchise's nods to ultimately reveal Ellie as gay. It's been subtle and classy, and I never felt it was politically motivated or forced. I'm all for putting some different types of characters in video games, so even the 3 way love story between Ellie Jesse and Dina was fine with me. Ellie is gay, she's badass, and she's a super interesting character. I'm in.

    Cut to 10 hrs in....the story is a painfully slow build but I'm still interested and waiting for some major plot points. All the sudden I'm playing as Abby. Why? Why do I need to play as her to feel her motivations? Why is her tragic story suddenly more important than the franchise character's? I continue playing playing but after an HR in with her story I had completely lost interest and was playing on autopilot. The more context to the story, the less the story and the game's theme make sense. I gave it chance to explain, but to the best of my ability the theme is "revenge is bad", yet the antagonist Abby, who is blatantly made out to be the REAL protagonist, sought revenge yet walks away with the happier story! I just don't get the reasoning behind the message, and why it needed to crap all over THIS franchise. I played the original 6 times, and the dlc multiple times as well. For me this was all time most anticipated sequel. Cannot support. So disappointing.    … Expand
