I wasn't aware of the controversy surrounding this game, but completely understand it now. Want to say that the graphics and gameplay are good, as to be expected. You can't knock the game for that.. But the story itself was terrible. They completely ruined a beloved character and it was as if the writers forced him to act in a way that was unnatural to his established personality, said character acts completely different in the first game but does a 180 on the second within the first hour. And the political messages are really in your face, political messages are fine but it was too distracting in this game and took away form my enjoyment. I got 80% done with the story but i just couldn't finish the game because it just didn't keep my interest because i felt too much resentment from the writers. And it is completely valid to write a review on a game you didn't complete if you at least played more then half of that game, because it is on the game itself to maintain your interest.

    tl;dr
    - good gameplay and graphics
    - if you're a fan of the story then this is basically a **** you" with a political insert
If you don't care about story and just play for the gameplay itself, i will say give this game a try. Its alright. But that's not the reason i play so that's why this game gets a 2 out of 10. Those 2 points being gameplay and graphics.

    Honestly the story....

Abby stumbling into Joel in the middle of a blizzard and the middle of an attack only to lead him back to hack his brains out. Playing as the antagonist (Abby) and only to end up fighting against the protagonist (Ellie).

Ellie killing dozens upon dozens of dogs and hunters only to leave the one person alone that she was hunting down at the end.

And then she comes back to an empty house, unable to play the guitar and unfulfilled for Joel. Awesome graphics though...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Towards the end of the game I found myself just rushing through the different areas on easy mode, because I got bored by the repetitive gameplay a lot and just wanted to finish the story. The search for Tommy, which makes almost half of the game, is packed with boring detours and grinding for material in houses or basements. The game at some points is really bloated and makes you do everything twice, thrice, and so on. The enemy encounters are somehow always the same and differ only very small parts. I found no motivation to make my way through the Scars' or Wolfes' camps like the developers intended to as clearing out those camps was not even necessary to move forward in the story. Sneaking, waiting, attacking, watching a way too long stealth kill cutscene (yes, I know you could shorten it by skilling, but why would I spend my pills on that skill?), looting, crafting, and in the next area I had to do the same. It was just a convenient method to give the player something to do and maybe to hide that there is only little substance with regard to the storytelling. Rushing through without killing anybody remained without consequences, so I kept looking for a purpose of my actions. I found also very very annoying that you almost made it to your point of interest and then - suddenly - you dropped into a river or fell down many floors so that you'd have to go there again, but just another way this time. Killing off the minor characters frequently (Jesse, Yara, Danny, ...) wore off at some point as if Naughty Dog just wanted to highlight how cruel their storytelling can be, but it was rather pointless. And compared to TLOU Part 1 it indeed was in many ways. I always thought that Game of Thrones' Littlefinger was the only character in the world that could beam from point A to B in minutes without context.
Yes, the presentation of the game is phenomenal, but it's something that I take for granted when it comes to an AAA title. In the end it is also very easy to praise the details of the landscape or houses because they somehow looked all the same. There was only little variation. Almost every house had the same cupboards, the same kitchen, the same bathroom, it looked like a copy & past design, which is another aspect that bored me.
As for the story I quickly lost my connection to Ellie and never established one to Abby.
I am also very disappointed by the developers praise that we would have to endure the consequences of Ellies decisions and actions. That's what they said many times in a short 5 minute clip prior to the release of the game. Turned out that this was simple marketing nonsense. The game itself made the decision, I never got to decide anything. And what decisions in life do not cause consequences? Whatever you do, it will have a result. Like developing a boring and repetitive game causes players' frustration.

In reality, unrealistic things often happen.
But probability is important in literary works.
Literary works are fake. Because it is fake, it has to be a more plausible story than reality to be accepted by the public.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Being a fan of the first game, I enjoyed playing through it. Especially since I was always so skilled at playing it. It's just as good, if not better, than the first as far as that goes. What's also cool, is being able to customize the game's challenges towards your new game plus run. Making enemies less or more aggressive, being able to find less or more resources, etc etc. That's something I really liked. We don't see that often in games. The graphics are beautiful. And I mean BEAUTIFUL. The acting is great. The attention to detail is VERY on point. Those alone tells me this game is definitely NOT a 0/10. I think that's ridiculous. Even 10/10 is kind of ridiculous too. Just about every game has flaws, big or small. Speaking of flaws, I didn't see many. BUT, the main problem I had with this game, was the story. It was a disappointment compared to previous game. I mean, a huge let down (and no, it's not because of the fact that Ellie's gay or because Joel was killed. I'm sick of reading articles from out of touch "journalist" saying that nonsense). Joel dying wasn't what really got me upset (though it was sad), but the way they did it is what annoyed me. I won't get into detail with that BS though. Anyway, I would've been completely fine with playing as Ellie and Dina/Jesse the entire game. I like Dina. But, did Naughty Dog seriously assume that we, the players, would appreciate playing as the person who killed Joel and beat the living hell out of Abby and a pregnant Dina? Did they surmise throwing a few happy-go-lucky flashbacks with Abby and her father would somehow get us to relate to her? Because it didn't. For most of us at least. Of course we wouldn't. It is so ridiculous. If it were not for the poor story choices, I would've given the game at least a 9/10. Expand

I'm just yourProdigious disappointment would be an understatement. It has not even been more than 2 hours since I finished the sequel, with my immediate reaction being to uninstall and delete it from my PS4 Pro. Now my secondary reaction is to give an honest and unbiased opinion on my play through. No I'm not a famous reviewer or game critic or Youtuber with major following or clout. I'm just your average Joe who still enjoys video games, going into early adulthood. Since my very first NES console, I knew there and then that video games would be a huge part of my life. I even plan to play video games into my elderly years (hopefully being able to share them with my children, then grandchildren).

I follow a golden rule of thumb in life which is "set your expectations very low so you can never be disappointed". Having said that, I went in as open-minded as I could be with zero expectations, just as I had for the original TLOU1:Remastered. TLOU1:Remastered was an absolute masterpiece. The sequel is tragic travesty.

Strong storytelling was all but missing. The story of TLOU1:Remastered was the selling point of the original. The characters we fell in love with in the original were disrespected without cause or provocation in this sequel. We are then forced upon with new characters that simply did not earn our appreciation, respect or adulation yet. Imagine if in the near God of War sequel, Kratos was not playable and instead a completely new character just assumed his spot. Wouldn't Atreus and the player playing the game suddenly question "who the heck are you and why am I forced now to play you when I bought this game to play as Kratos and Atreus?" The Spartan rage in that dilemma would certainly be understandable to its faithful fans who felt betrayed and sold on deceitful lies aka false marketing.

The game play is based on the same template as the original, minus 2 new functions of crawling and dodging. Now that can be good or bad. In my experience, it was bad. In the original it was simply good because it was the first time players were introduced to that system so it was fresh. Waiting 7 years just to see virtually no exciting change to said game play system was just plain sad. It can get very boring, very quickly and it did for me ultimately.

The soundtrack is mesmerizing and beautiful. Gustavo Santaolalla 's work was simply phenomenal. It's just a shame that music wasn't used as often throughout the game. This scored 1 point for the review.

The other 1 point goes to the visuals. I cannot and won't lie that the visuals of the game is absolutely gorgeous. It truly pushes the PS4 and PS4 Pro's hardware capabilities to its limit (complimented by the jet engine that goes off on the console during heavily rendered scenes). The visuals are some of the best of this generation of consoles.

In summary, I was deeply disappointed by a franchise with a proven track record of offering some of the best video games, only for it to fully betray its loyal fans and patrons. This is coming from a guy who walked into the sequel with an open-mind, as they requested. Even with such low expectations from the start I could not fathom having this travesty on my PS4 Pro any longer. I was fair in the sense that I played through the game, and nowhere through my 25+ hours of play through did I have the same magical feeling of awe and emotional connect that I did for the original masterpiece. Please be warned: there is absolutely NO FUN involved with the sequel. Naughty Dog themselves already relayed in a PR statement that they the word FUN should never be associated with their games. Well one word they should be associated with is FRAUD. They clearly know what they are doing and have done to its fans and patrons. The creative director himself, Neil Druckmann could care less if you enjoyed the game or not. If anything, this was a brilliant marketing scheme that allowed him and the people at Naughty Dog to laugh all the way to the bank with their bags and bags of pre-order money. There are absolutely no losers from this sequel, just winners: Naughty Dog and their bank accounts. Suffice to say I will not be purchasing any future products from Naughty Dog - they simply lost my trust and loyalty.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The only way I can describe this game is bitterly disappointing!! I was a huge fan of the first game and had high hopes for the sequel, however unfortunately any potential that the game had was wasted due to various plot holes, a woeful story and some characters who despite there potential are never fleshed out and therefore it's extremely difficult to gain any kind of significant connection to them.

The game does have a number of positives. It is visually and audibly stunning, Naughty Dog has again raised the bar in this respect. The level design is great and despite it being linear there are still plenty of options to get around and make it a somewhat unique experience in certain areas.

Unfortunately this positives are simply not enough to overcome some significant short comings. Firstly Joel's death. I have no issue with Joel dying however the way in which he died is pure idiocy, Joel and Tommy are two seasoned veterans of this world who have survived almost a quarter of a century in this post apocalyptic chaos and understand that trusting people can get you killed. So they conveniently become naive idiots solely for the purpose of story progression it makes no sense whatsoever!!

Dina and Jesse are two characters with significant potential, however neither are ever really fleshed out as much as needed so much of that potential goes to waste.

Then onto the second half of the game. You are made to play as the character who bludgeoned a beloved character to death for TEN hours Who throughout the game has shown almost psychopathic tendencies. During this phase it's intended for the player to develop empathy and a connection to Abby however this just doesn't happen due to the lacklustre story line, awful story telling and a cast of characters who are either painfully dull or ridiculously unlikeable with the only exception being Lev who sadly comes across as an Ellie type figure from the first game to allow Abby to have some weird Joel type journey of discovery just without any of the charm of Joel and Ellie's made made it great. Also in this section the attempted emotional manipulation of the player with the use of cheap tricks becomes evident. Doing everything possible to paint Abby as a compassionate person whilst trying to guilt grip you for action undertaken as Ellie that you had zero choice but do. These tricks are cheap and don't have the effect the developers where hoping for.

Finally the ending of the game is a got mess. The message that revenge is bad and somebody has to end the circle of violence. This fails completely when both playable characters where largely guided by the need for vengeance and the one who took revenge got away free to start a new life with Lev. Whilst the person who ended the cycle and did the "right thing" ended up with no one and nothing left and is now facing her biggest fear of ending up alone. The hypocrisy here is utterly baffling and undermines the entire message the developers wanted to spread.

I can see the idea of what they were trying to pull off however it was so shambolically put together it landed a million miles wide of the mark. That added with the fact that everything that made the first game the beloved masterpiece that it is and the characters as iconic as they are has been dismantled to the point that the only really significant character remaining from the first game is now a shadow the character we had such a connection with. I can safely say that there will be no additional play-throughs of this game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. We were told that the first TLOU is a "simple story, complex characters". Well the second one is a "simplest story, simplest characters". Sorry that we appear to be not THAT simple.
Straightforward plot. Straightforward message that is aggressively repeated from one cut-scene to another. I was missing a person jumping out in the corner of the screen with the sign “Revenge is bad!” if someone had still not realized it. C'mon we are not stupid i even felt offended since the game communicated with me as if i really am: D

the characters ... main and minor. so flat, shallow, sketchy. It's so difficult to sympathize with them (at the same time in the first part they were so natural and lively that it was difficult NOT to sympathize). The decisions they make, motivation in various situations, dialogs - everything looks forced, overact and false.

Perhaps it is a good plot move to kill Joel since it could have opened so many confrontations within the heroes but the game just flushes him down like a trash and this looks like disrespect to studio’s previous work. So many ideas could have been discussed with Joel got killed - regret, priorities, overcoming the desire for revenge, the path to forgiveness, understanding and acceptance. Yes, it's trivially but it meant to be a simple story and complex characters. Speaking about Abby, has she got the relief after killing Joel? Does she feel any regret or fault killing comrades? How does she feel growing in a military society and at the same time being a sweet daughter of a rather gentle farther? Maybe she has become obsessed with revenge because her love (i don't even remember his name), that could have become her support and life meaning, makes another girl pregnant? Even disliked by almost everyone Abby could have been a complex and interesting to watch character. I don't even speak about Ellie! But despite of showing these dramatic and emotional drivers we are shown rather a long intimate scene between girls that means absolutely nothing for a story-line. Yeah, priorities in 2020. Even this touchy topic could have been woven elegantly in terms of a conflict between Ellie and homophobic people where Joel was the dearest person who understood and protected her in this situation and now he is dead and she faces it all alone and feels how important Joel's support was for her and how she really in need of being protected and encouraged even being so strong and independent BECOUSE it is a child-parent relationship that was so thoroughly built in TLOU 1! Gosh, so many ways to develop the characters!!!!!!11 And yes, Joel tries hard to drag out the story in the beginning and in each and every flashback…the only alive and natural but dead character ahaha.

I feel so sorry for people who put their soul in making the technical part of the game since it's brilliant. But thanks to scenario a lot of people have come to hate this game :(

P.S. critics are useless. Such a pity.

Really disappointed with the game. Started off with such promise.

The game play is actually not bad, very similar to the last game if a bit repetitive. There are some great moments here and there. The graphics are stunning, this has to be said, probably one of the best looking games on the PS4, the soundtrack is also nicely done, production value is high here. The story is the worst

The story is the worst part here, without going in to spoilers it is a complete mess, a particular character is shown little respect and really ruined the rest of the game for me. The developers also took a risk and tried to do something g different but quite frankly it was a terrible decision. With a game like this that is so story driven it doesn’t matter that the graphics and gameplay are good, I was not engaged and just felt disappointed by the poor story.

Sound/visual design: 1.5/2. You can tell the environment design had a lot of passion. Sadly, the sound design was not at all impressive.
Character design/interaction: I won't spoil it but expect forced "developments" to the story throughout the game. Grows tiring very quickly. 0.5/2.
Fan impression: tempted to give it an 0/2. However a game is better than no game. Even if marginally. 0.5/2.

Final impression: game left very sour taste in my mouth. Underwhelming and dishonest. Forced interactions and unimaginative situations meant to emotionally exploit or condition the player in place of a properly installed script. Would give a -1 because it's one of the rare sequels that makes me wish they were never done as they destroy my passion for the IP (StarWars jarjar Binks says hi).

    Final score : 4-1 = 3.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I felt disappointed enough with this game to actually go and post a review online, which I dont think I've ever done before. Spoiler free part:
The story was just a waste of time. The gameplay was solid, music, voice acting, graphics, etc. All superb, so please understand how bad the story had to be to get such hate. The first half of the game was fun, overall off to a great start. The problems arise half way through, when the terrible decisions come through. I'M GOING TO BE CLEAR, my dislike for this game has nothing to do with it's LGBTQ themes, I was actually excited to see how they would handle these in the storyline. My issue is with the story progression, and the characters.

    !!!!!!!!!!!! Spoilers !!!!!!!!!!!

Abby is just an unlikable character. I knew Joel at some point was going to die and I knew the game would mostly be about Ellie which made sense, I was ok with that. I DIDNT know Joel would brutally killed by Abby in the first hour. Seems like we were promised a LITTLE more Joel than that, but ok, revenge quest starts early. It was fine for the first half...then, the switch. We actually have to play as Abby. The character we all hate for killing Joel. And we don't just play as her for a little, or in little bursts. you play almost an entire half of the game as her! And despite SOME cool scenes, you don't stop hating her. Playing as Abby was a "meh" experience at best. She's boring and the first impression of her is an irredeemable one. I can't count how many times I repeatedly let her die in game. A solid ending could have saved it all, but the ending was meh as well. Ellie spares Abby to end the cycle of violence, which is an odd place to draw the line after Ellie just spent three days stabbing, shooting, bludgeoning, dismembering, torturing, impaling, intentionally infecting, strangling, blowing up into actual pieces, and lighting on fire, what must have been 100 people at least. But Ellie travels all the way to Santa Barbara to... not kill someone.

If all you care about is gameplay and graphics, this is a great game. If you like stories,, but you didn't play the first, its ok.

But if you LOVED the first as much as I did, and loved the characters, and waited 7 years to see what happened to them, this game is heartbreaking. LOU was a masterpiece, 10/10. It deserved a 10/10 sequel and got a 4/10 AT BEST. Part 2 had all the makings of a great game DESTROYED by awful story choices which for a studio of this quality is inexcusable. Therefore, one star.

The trailers led us to believe this would be the next chapter in Joel and Ellie's story, it wasn't. It was half a game about Ellie and half about someone we don't care about and don't like. We deserved a better story than this. This isn't what we were promised.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first chunk of the game seems to be leading to a story that we expect from Naughty Dogs, however, after the first major plot development the story tanks. Most of the characters especially Abby who are introduced have so much time wasted on them, but I never grew to care no matter how hard I tried. They were attempting to craft a story about the consequences of revenge, but it lacked any sort of interesting points, It could be summarized by two words "revenge bad" basically it was a cliche that ruined the experience. Of course, the game looked beautiful and the gameplay was interesting. They developed and expanded well on the systems set up in the first game. Without the crap story and writing, but rather a story of the caliber expected of the series, This game could have been a 10/10. - I loved the last of us 1 for how he managed to please all the characters told. In tlou2 of the characters who die you don't give a damn.
    - The story is a simple search for a person for revenge that then does not materialize, everything that happened was useless.

After playing Part 1, my entire viewpoint on video game narratives changed forever. I've always been the kind of guy that liked, puzzles, shooting, and SFX. But all that changed when I experienced the first game.

After seven years of waiting for the second game, I can safely say that TLoUP2 exceeded all expectations I could have ever accumulated in all that time I waited.

The story takes you for the wildest emotional ride you never thought you could get from a video game. Where Part 2 walked, Part 2 ran. The devs at ND made some INSANE choices that only made me respect their work even more. With bold twists and turns at every corner, you can never be more than two steps ahead in the plot. This story is going to change the way I see games just like the first one did.

The game-play is riveting as one could expect. There are a lot more options when facing enemy encounters, keeping you on the edge of your seat and the brim of your mind. Nothing is more satisfying than getting though dozens of enemy without taking a single bullet.

I wasn't spoiled by leaks(fortunately), and it seems like the ones that were and still complain about the game seem close-minded and/or they haven't played the game. I have been playing video games my entire life but have always been drawn to games with a message or a story to tell. When I first saw the trailer for TLOU years ago, I thought to myself, “they’ve finally made a game for me”, in the sense that, here’s a game with a grounded and brutal story with what seemed to be a fantastic script and fully realized characters. As a huge film fan, this was extremely exciting news. In the final moments of TLOU, when Ellie mutters “...Okay” and it cuts to black, I knew that I had just experienced something game changing, for the video game industry and pop culture in general. I have been anticipating this game (Part 2) ever since I put that DualShock 3 down and stared in awe at the credits, contemplating the morally gray decision Joel had just made. It’s a damn shame moments from this game were leaked. I tried to go in blind but no matter how hard I tried, there was always some dingus posting unfunny memes in an attempt to “troll” whoever they could. This game is so much more than those out of context moments. This game makes you reconsider everything you have experienced and learned from Part 1. From it’s shocking beginning to it’s heartbreaking ending, this game is pure art, through and through. The attention to detail is downright astounding and the gameplay hooked me so much, I checked my clock and 7 hours had gone by in an instant. Although, these aspects aside, we all know where the divisiveness really comes from, its story. Personally, I loved it. I beat the game about 4 or 5 days ago now, I’m already on my new game plus on Survivor, and eventually will be going for the plat, but no game has stuck with me this long. The story has burrowed its way into my mind and I haven’t been able to get it out. When I initially finished it, I was confused, hunting for meaning in it all. After sitting and contemplating, I believe it to be one of the best stories I have ever experienced through the medium of video game. In a world of cookie cutter stories, spoon feeding us the things we want because we know they will make us feel good, Naughty Dog has dared to pull a move and challenge its audience. At first, I was extremely apprehensive, “Why are they doing this? What is the point?” But after the credits rolled, it all made sense to me. I appreciate when something differs from the norm and oh boy did this do that. If you haven’t played the game, go in with an open mind, ignore the leaks, and just give it a chance. If you still genuinely don’t like it (for non-bull**** reasons) then there you go, but you may be surprised how you feel when you let go of your pre conceived notions. This game isn’t perfect though, I do think there are some pacing issues but other than that, I see no other glaring problems. This game will challenge you and your expectations, let it and embrace it. For me this is a phenomenal achievement and I’m so happy to have played it day one and own a copy. This will go down in the history books of gaming whether for good reasons or bad. There is so much more I would love to discuss but I wanted to keep this spoiler free so those on the fence or those who just haven’t had the means to play it yet could read this. I’ll sum it up with this, I loved all of the characters, even if it took me a few hours to understand certain things, I thought the ending was damn perfect and got a few tears out of this old cynic (along with many other moments throughout), and finally, the story was exactly what it needed to be, every bump along the way made perfect sense in this brutal and violent world. Please play this game, I couldn’t recommend it more. Thank you. Expand

But a list of events is not a story, and I believe if many of these reviewers experienced the story, they would feel differently. It is a difficult game. It takes place in a brutal world and things happen that you may not want to happen. The gameplay is exceptional and tense, and the graphics are as close to photo-real as this generation will get. I was completely riveted by the game from beginning to end, and look forward to one day playing it again. I took a point off because, after a certain point, the misery of it all is laid on a bit thick and it can be a bit of a struggle to carry on. Absolutely the best game I'd EVER played. Full of details, best history I ever saw on a game, it shows us how the humanity is going in a bad way and how rotten it is actually. We can see that through the haters of the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is ultra violent (just sum what happens to Lev within just 2 days... Sisters arm is smashed to pieces with a hammer, sister is killed, he kills his own mother, a war destroys his home island, literally everyone wants to kill him as soon as they spot him, ...) Even in a post-apocalyptic world, I think that is quite something. Oh I see but this lovely "girl" Abby comes to his rescue. A glimpse of hope!
The only thing they skipped is that the child of Owens girlfriend is already 1 month old and Ellie slashes the babies head off. If you are in such a rage you cannot stop, can you? Maybe they left this for part 3.
But of course, its all for a good reason, the deep message behind it bla bla bla
For me this story is just trash. Revenge and too much violence is bad? I tell you something, I already guessed that before playing the game. And the political correctness, although I am not against it in general, is so over the top that it would ruin the story, if there would be a story.
They sacrificed everything that the players loved about part 1, maybe to satisfy Neil Druckmans ego? Who knows.
If this would be just another post-apocalyptic world with infected game, it would be ok (great graphics, great detailed design of the environment, story not so important) But a very disappointing sequel to TLOU.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a massive fan of the Original The Last of Us game, I had high hopes for this latest installment. Technically the game runs great and the extra specs of the ps4 allow for much more open levels and graphical improvements. Theres a few minor gameplay improvements but more of the same here.
All this however only counts for the one and only star awarded in this review.
Everything above are bells and whistles when it comes to Naughty Dog games such as The Last of Us and the Uncharted series. Its the plot, the storytelling, the character development, and how invested we are in the characters.
This is were The Last of Us 2 falls flat.
Out of all the scripts that were proposed at naughty dog this is what they chose, its truly bizarre.

    Spoilers...

To sum up, Joel is killed very early into the game. Ellie sets out on a revenge story which pales in comparison to Joels death scene, I expected hell hath no fury, some very tame encounters. Not only that halfway through the game you play as Joels killer and finish out the game with her.
Its just bizarre that they thought that we'd feel such little sense of loss for Joel that we'd be happy to play as his killer for the remainder of the game.
If the plot they've chosen to go with has to have Joel dead then atleast make it about revenge for Joel, and not have me play through half the game trying to convince me Joels death was justified because i for one am not interested.
Its a story that nobody wanted i think thats the consensus here. They should of went with a better script in my opinion, and written another adventure for Joel and Ellie. Its a simple as that. Oh what could of been...

Last of us One was awesome. This game did nothing to advance the game play and destroyed the story.

I enjoyed the first one. No problem with it. Replayed it several times. But this one, I played it and after 6 hours of hitting square and repeating same buttons to kill something it got old fast. The story line I was very very lost when it came to this. I didn’t understand all the switching back and forth as in who to chase down and attack. Why? Or how they could still be alive lol.I enjoyed the first one. No problem with it. Replayed it several times. But what got me is why in the hell there is nudity in this game. I mean what are they trying to get us to watch. Killing the dog? Come on this is crazy. So animal cruelty is a big thing in the game. Now I have nothing against any one who is LBTGQ. But damn I am tired of this stuff being shoved down the throat as someone stuffing food in your mouth. This is crazy. Why can’t we just enjoy a game any more with out all the political correctness being shoved down out throats or being show to us as a re-education camp. This is getting out of control bad. Expand

I will give it points for the graphics and general production values. Otherwise the game itself is hardly an evolution on the original. The worst part is the writing which is really a slap in the face if you wanted a real continuation of the first game. The worst part is that the game's director has a self insert character that has sex with the protagonist. Avoid this game if you can.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
