    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The people saying that the bad reviews are from people who haven't played it yet are wrong and it 's the opposite. If you noticed, every positive review is along the lines of "I don't understand the hate. I'm 2 hours in and I'm loving it." The reason for so many dislikes is because the second half of the game is all based on an unlikeable character that feels like torture. It's so incredibly boring followed by one of the worst endings I've ever seen. The ending might appeal to some with a message of forgiveness but that's not what we came here for.

    The game is literally called "The Last of Us PART 2" implying it's connected to the first game. Spending half the game as a character many dislike just to let them get away is awful. You don't play Super Mario Bros expecting a goomba to be the main character. That doesn't make it edgy or unique, it just makes it silly and against what the fans wanted. Imagine the goomba beating the crap out of Mario's family and Mario goes for revenge. Mario finally catches him and lets him go. I don't see how any message can be that powerful especially when it wasn't enforced enough for it to make sense.    … Expand

    This game is not just simply bad, datet, has a horrible story, bland characters that you cannot connect with in any level as their decisions will make you want to retire your ps early. It goes so far to commit the greatest of all sins a video game can ever do: it is simply BORING.

    Although I myself do not usually care as much for the story of the game as much as it is fun to play in general, this game offers only improved graphics and gameplay from the last title. From the incredible bias which was shown by Sony towards this games censorship to Neil Druckman's catastrophical lead on the development before and after the leaks. Abby could've been a straight male, female, black, white, indian or asian character. But its still the worst character idea ever. Do you think political or moral opinions are worthy in an apocalyptic world? No! Im playing a videogame about surviving in a world filled with infecteds, not a Lesbian Girl with Bipolar Disorder Simulator. Joel, one of the most iconic characters ever... nobody wants to play as him right? Of course not! We waited 7 years just to see him die in the coldest way possible! And we don't even get a revenge! We go with the need of killing Abby, but save Abby for a few seconds, then ask Abby to fight or we kill Abby's buddy, we get an unnecessary fight and right before killing Abby, boom : Bipolar Disorder, and we let Abby escape. We even lose 2 fingers against Abby like what the actual f-. Anyways, i don't feel bad for it. Joel wasn't even Joel anymore. He went from a clever grown man strong enough to take care of an entire army to the typical resentful dad that did something to his kid and falls on any scam. Thats the main reason of why he died. Graphics are shocking and all, the sounds are orgasmic and thr gameplay is still frenetic, but the story was written by a group of monkeys, and the leader was some LGBT or SJW representative...that was also a monkey. Playing as Abby didn't make me or anybody else sympathize with her/him. This game tried way too hard to be "politically correct" and the critic reviews also do. People is just afraid to review anything below 70 just because they will be called "Transphobic males". Pretty much all i had to say. I watched xQc livestreaming this game. 60$ saved easy.… Expand

    Great game ! Beautiful, not only by his graphics, but also by the storytelling. Don't listen to the all the negative about the "gay friendly" and that **** : there is none in this post-apo game, one of the best of is kind.

Whether good or bad, it leaves you “feeling” something, cause it’s a genuine experience. I feel betrayed, we all feel betrayed. Not just because “some stuff” that’s happening in the game. Mainly, because this game has no heart, soul, nor purpose. I feel betrayed because this game is empty...It is empty because it’s phony.

    If you want to be brave and innovative, as you think you are, be honest. Don’t manipulate your trailers, don’t ban certain elements under the term “spoiler” that surely be criticized by consumers, so that people can’t talk or review beforehand. If you want to be brave, play with your cards open, don’t be insidious.

    And don’t call it a sequel if it’s core is created by last minute added-up, not so bright ideas of yours that’s rude to it’s predecessor. I’m not talking about giving a fan service, I hate that. But, you can’t just insult your previous work like this.

    This is what happens when you pump certain “developers” ego in a wrong way, put them in a certain important positions that make them feel like they’re a real time genius superhero, who can getaway with anything (feeling so important that you put yourself in game as an Easter egg, with a %100 brains)...    … Expand

I wanted to come in and enjoy my time with Ellie and Joel, I wanted to experience the world after Joel doomed the human race by killing the surgeon and saving Ellie, making the hard choice that his own personal needs and desires were more important to him than the survival of humanity. I really wanted to experience that aftermath, to live in that moment and feel guilt for my actions in Part One.
    I didn't get to. I got to experience Joel act completely out of character and die because suddenly, out of nowhere, our hardened father figure is naive. I was forced to watch as the life drained from this monster of a man, and then go on a journey of revenge. At least I'd get my revenge.
    Nope, I murder my way through the liberation front for a chance to kill Abby, the woman who killed Joel, only to suddenly be forced to watch her walk away, because suddenly, and without any narrative reason, Ellie decided that killing was bad.
    This game is not worth your money, this game is not worth your time. I am writing this to save you the hassle.    … Expand

DON'T BE FANBOYS: The development is very bad, it's horrible, (Joel's death is not the bad thing), it has some terrible script holes, Joel in the first game ran over a man who was supposedly hurt because he knew it could be a ambushed and now enters the den of strangers, seriously? And the damage that after killing Marlene and kidnapping Ellie could they look for him and he's giving his name just like that? AND NOT TO TALK About that argument convenience where Abby Justo found them by chance, that's what makes him bad, not Joel's and other things that I don't mention for not spoiling but that are very bad. The rest is very good: graphics, soundtrack, gameplay, etc. that's why the rating is high… Expand

    The game spends its entirety destroying the characters you knew from the first game. The only thing about Joel that even slightly resembles the character we love is his character model.

    The visuals are by far the best i've seen on any console game, and the level design/locations are built very well.     The gameplay feels like its half a decade old, disappointingly the moments you find yourself actually feeling challenged and enjoying an encounter usually turn out to be entirely scripted, meaning you spend 20 minutes fighting a "mini boss" just to realize the only reason the encounter was difficult at all is because you are meant to lose regardless of how you perform. doesn't exactly feel rewarding to find out you would've gotten the same ending to a fight if you didnt touch your controller and let the monster beat you in 3 seconds.

    All in all this game is a massive disappointment to anyone expecting a true attempt to continue the beloved story, this game shouldn't even be considered TLOU2, its essentially a new IP that reuses assets, names and voice actors.    … Expand

The plot is riddled with inconsistencies and illogical decisions which completely disregard anything the first game had built up. And all of it for no payoff at the end. Fans of the first game are better off passing on this one. Complete letdown.

This is a master class in game making and story telling. It's also ridiculous that 13,245 people reviewed the game and it hasn't even been out for 24 hrs. The fan was going crazy from where it hadn’t been turned on in months, so I spent 40min taking it apart and dusting it with canned air and cloths so I can enjoy the game fully. I can honestly say that the constant sneezing from my dust allergy caused by cleaning out my PS4 was a more compelling and fulfilling narrative than the garbage story of this game. Not only a bad standalone product, but soured my view on the entire series.… Expand

    Damn. After the 1st game I was worried this game could never be as good, but I am so happy to say that this game went beyond my expectations.
    Great story, brilliant characters, superb voice acting.
    The pacing is a bit slow in the beginning but it picks up, the gameplay has improved alot since the 1st game, especially the combat. The whole experience was simply amazing and emotional.

    Truly the greatest game of all time. The inclusivity is amazing, the extra settings for people with disability to enjoy it, the animations all of it amazing. I'm particularly partial to g*mer tears though, all these losers crying in the comments making my day :) can't wait to start the game

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you were impatient to continue the deep stroy of TLOU focus on the bond between Ellie and Joel you might get disappointed with this game. While the gameplay is an enhance version of the original its repetitive when you are 15 hours into the game, with fewer puzzles and simply succession of infiltration, escape and murdering sequence. The graphics and audio are amazing, but the realism become sometime unbearable with extremly violent scenes throughout the game and also a few sexual scenes (which were poorly handled). The big disappointment however come with the story. Its simply a classic revenge plot, which make you follow Ellie for the first half, while the second half focus on a new character Abby who stole the spotlights, despite being the antagonist and the person to kill in the first half. And don't hope to continue your adventure with Joel. False advertising may show him in various sequence, but it was actually another character in this sequence or flashback. Joel is killed from the beginning, with no hope to save him, and the ending doesn't even give you the satisfaction to make revenge for Joel. Instead you let the murderer get away, and you watch Ellie abandonned by everyone, and thinking about killing herself to create a cure.

    This games builds off its predecessor in a brilliant way. Combat feels much more fluid and real, enemy AI is more responsive and the gameplay is bigger in every way. Some of the characters make decisions I wouldn’t necessarily agree with but the story is still top notch entertainment. This is a great pick up for any fan of survival horror games.

    I'm loving this game. They don't need to tell us what we want to hear, they are telling their story. An awesome, dramatic and heavy story. The visual of the game are VERY beautiful and I don't regret buying it even a little bit.

    Pretty sure if someone killed your parents and you virtually knew nothing else about that person aside from the fact that they might be well regarded by other people you know nothing about - you might also have a vengeful view of that person.
    Maybe give the game a chance to tell its story from her perspective instead of focusing on your own love for a character. The whole thing serves as a catalyst for the story telling, morons.
    Unless you just want 1-dimensional, good vs evil characters in TLoU... Despite that not being what even the first game is about.

Last of Us 2 on the other hand doesn't do anything new. The Last of Us 2 feels like a launch title for a next gen console not a wholesome release. It just does little ingame cinematic/ animation things that add to the realism but also just feel like they are trying to show off the graphics, but at the end of the consoles life cycle. Why?

    The animations and graphics do look great though so I'm giving it 2 points but everything else falls flat. Joel dying was the dumbest thing to do. At least let us discover why he lied in detail and what it did to him as a person that he knew he was conflicted because he was constantly lying to someone he loved. Instead we get dumb vague flashbacks 500 times to explain things we know from the first 15 mins... Then they retell the same story as the first game, having the same motive about how far would you go to save someone. It's just instead of save its replaced with avenge. Then you play as Abby for like 80% of the game. That's awful. I dont want to play as the "villain" I get what they were doing with the story but that doesnt mean it's not a waste. If you scrap Abbys backstory and crap and just have Ellie you have a game that lasts 30 mins. Then the more I thought about it the more I realised the game isnt even that good looking. You have had 7 years to make this thing and it barely surpasses the 1st game on an old gen consoles hardware. So I am dropping it to a 1 star and no I wont talk about the game being progressive because this political crap in games is upsetting me. I appericate everything they did. But holy crap this feels forced.

    The Last of Us Part 1 is one of my all-time favorite games. But after just a few hours of play, calling The Last of Us Part 2 disappointing would be an understatement. The story is terrible and the gameplay is just straight-up boring. Might legit see if I can get a refund, because there's no way I'm playing this all the way through.

    So I didn't buy game, but got a handme down someone gave me bc they just couldn't play anymore. So I played for a couple hours and just could not do it either. Great graphics is all I can say that is positive, seriously. It's a shame to bc everyone in 2016 was stoked. But the level of disrespect has hit an all high with this story telling and character assassination.

The downtime between gameplay is astoundingly obnoxious. When theres actual gameplay its refreshing to be met with a fresher take on the originals combat and I enjoyed the lethality it represented. Ignore fake 10 review scores and masterpiece buzzwords, don't be a corporate sympathiser. The criticism leading up to the game is wholeheartedly justified. Reviewers that gave this game a perfect score have now handed in their credibility as reviewers and should no longer be taken seriously. This is false advertising and its now clear that they were paid off. Nobody that respects the original would rate this game perfect especially over the dozen reviewers that rated it perfect for a flash of their name on the posters especially when the story is so controversial, its impossible to rate them all the same. Metacritic are also losing credibility to support a platform for reviewing.    … Expand
