    I had this game spoiled for me prior to it’s release, and almost got on the hate bandwagon like so many others. Luckily, due to my respect for the original game and what Naughty Dog has made in the past, I gave this a shot. I’m happy to say that it is one of the best games I’ve ever played. The story will engage you, exhaust you, and challenge you like no other. It pushes the envelope onI had this game spoiled for me prior to it’s release, and almost got on the hate bandwagon like so many others. Basically Joel, a person who in the first part was a cautious, intelligent and cunning person decides to tell him his name and invites to his city a large number of strangers who surround them and who triple the number of people and weapons. Well, after Joel dies like a squashed and tortured cockroach, Ellie decides to do what everyone would do, seek revenge. After controlling Ellie and killing a couple dozen or even hundreds of people and some friends of Abby's, the game comes up with the wonderful idea of ​​forcing us to control for about 10 hours the most disgusting, psychopathic and moody character that can exist, that's Abby. The game in many parts is boring, you get tired of having to put up with such a hypocritical character as Abby and it is even lazy to continue the game, since in many parts it feels as if they are unnecessarily extended. The game tries to force "empathy" with Abby, but for someone who played the first the last of us and understood the character of Joel and the reason for his actions, it is impossible for you to like Abby, she is just a hypocritical character, that he did the same thing as Joel on various occasions in the game, abby's own father admits in flashbacks that he would do the same thing that Joel did. As a huge fan of the first game (finished it 7-8x) it was tough to see the smart, ruthless and the most importantly EXPERIENCED survivor act so extremely dumb. I have nothing against dying protagonists but everything what happened before the death was stupid AF. But the technical part of the game is masterpiece.… Expand

    1) Hats down to Sony and the studio for making the game so polished, was a breeze of fresh air for me as I played the game in 2021.

    2) Even though the combat wasn't completely different, there were new things and few innovations that felt good. But the combat was like 1% of the game time...

    3) After I switched to Abby and stopped enjoying the story, I've started to notice that I've was playing a scavenging simulator and that people apparently leave one or two bullets in the packaging. This was extremely repetitive and annoying. Also why do I break an axe after 3 - 5 hits? Or a sledgehammer?

    4) The world was ok, but I didn't notice it too much as I was looking for supplies. Also the constant rain was interesting...

    5) I replayed the first game many times, the story was wonderful. Here I will gracefully pass. Half of the game was completely useless, I knew what happened to those people and only thing what I got from those 12+ hours was scavenging supplies.

    I am not saying that the story doesn't have a message or a lesson, but in my opinion it shouldn't be told by a game.

    Neil Druckmann mentioned that the game will not be fun and he was right. It wasn't. I still paid the full price and I understand that the developers need to eat and are actually quite talented to be fair. Just that I don't see myself playing a game directed by Neil Druckmann anymore. Again, a talented guy, that deserves his salary 100%, but we disagree on what gaming should bring to people. Fun, enjoyment, fulfilment, stress release is much more preferred than hating myself for not stopping half way through...

    6) The enormous amount of close calls, scripted events, out of the world lucky situations for the main characters and those toy knives with 0 damage were also very annoying. The game was supposed to be played by adults, come on, do not insult our intelligence... If you want to lecture somebody, at least head out to donate blood and see what happens when you loose 450ml and act irresponsibly thereafter.

    7) I wasn't even able to max my stats or guns, also the time in combat where I could actually use them was extremely limited. I can try other guns or skills in a new game+ but I don't want to go through the story again, not to mention the constant scavenging.

    Based on the points above, I cannot rate the game high. A scavenging simulator with linear progress where I was punished for playing it. It felt more like an experiment.    … Expand

Gameplay sure was improved from the previous game and is very enjoyable. Monster designs and challenges were very good also amazing boss fights. Now the story is brilliant. I can see why for many people was controversial but in my point of view was a unique and brilliant way to tell a revenge story were neither side is good or bad, both take wrong decisions and pay for it. Yes, the story is very bitter and it may be not for everyone's taste but I see the course of actions very logical and I can't see other variants of the story reaching such a ingenuous storytelling. It was a very unique experience for me as it's the best revenge story I saw. I am indeed sorry many people are not able to see what a game has to offer from a different perspective.… Expand

This game is phenomenal, firstly the gameplay is a big step up from the original that builds on the systems in the first game and improves in them in every single way. The graphical fidelity is mind blowing, I genuinely can’t believe this is running on a PS4, it is very obvious that a lot of love and care has gone in to this game and it shows in the level of detail through the levels in the game. The amount minuscule details that have callbacks to events in the games universe or give further depth to a character is mind blowing. The level design also feels more natural and less linear than the first game, with many levels having a maze of buildings to get through to get to the other side.

    The storyline is brilliant in the way it gives even more meaning to elements of the first game whilst telling its own story. I’ve never experienced a game that challenges the main characters choices and morality so strongly and make you question their motives and then go on to make you play as a character that you currently hate and takes you on a journey to understand and empathise with them. I believe this was the intention of the game, if you get angry at certain moments and cry at others, the writers and actors have done their job and I sincerely believe this game is a masterpiece in story telling, acting, game design, art style and graphical fidelity.    … Expand

Да, классно, но что толку. Ведь все эти декорации это как - ПРИБИТЫЕ К ПОЛУ ИГРУШКИ. Я не в музее, а в игру играю. В первой The Last of Us не было ничего сверх особенного и нового: стэлс мы видели много где раньше (Dishonored, Hitman, Splinter Cell и другие), экшен в тех же ТРЁХ Uncharted, Tomb Raider. BioShock опять же. Даже сюжет был банален. Но в первой The Last of Us все элементы геймплея и сюжета были выверены в гармоничном равновесии, что и позволяло наслаждаться потраченным на игру временем. The Last of Us 2 это уже седьмая одинаковая игра от Naughty Dog и ничего нового она не показывает - ни геймплея, ни новшевств, ни визуальных особенностей. Единственное что могло её спасти это сюжет. Сюжет который позволил бы, как в первой части, примерить на себя личину главного героя и задаться вопросом,- "Как бы я поступил?". А в The Last of Us 2 вы часто сопереживали "героям"? В The Last of Us 2 разрабы забыли что делают продукт для других, а не для себя. А ЛГБТ движение так агрессивно нападает на альтернативные мнения, что многие не хотят его высказывать просто чтобы не быть оскорбленными, даже когда мнение обосновано. Ведь в этой отрыжке Дракмана и Саркисян нормальные люди с однополыми сексуальными предпочтениями выставлены как моральные уроды которые вызывают антипатию. Так игры не делаются. Дракман и им подобные халтурщики забывают, что если люди не смогут спокойно высказывать свою точку зрения о своих предпочтениях, то им придется замалчивать что им на самом деле нравится и что не нравится. И возникнет парадоксальная ситуация (в общем-то нынешняя ситуация) когда люди не могут открыто сказать правду о том что плохо, но высказываться о продукте будут как о плохом, цепляясь за незначительные аспекты. Халтурщики-разрабы будут обращать внимание на эти аспекты и пытаться их исправить, но главную причину недовольства не устранят ведь о ней не говорят (а то о чем не говорят вроде бы как не проблема и этого не
    существует). И наступает момент когда никто ничего не понимает в том что нравиться людям. Вообще то люди мстительны и если не смогут откровенно высказаться о своих предпочтениях без угрозы быть оплеванными, то они будут мстить, а именно относиться без какого снисхождения. Blizzard c их китайским скандалом и diablo immortal, EA с их абсурдным battlefield 5, ни никому не нужный Mass Effect: Andromeda, Ubisoft с придурковатым far cry new dawn, Bethesda с их лживым Fallout 76, а теперь и Naughty Dog... Хочется спросить у Дракмана, - "Зачем ты это сделал?"    … Expand

These are people who watched or read the leaks, decided they hated it before playing it, and dropped a review the release date under the falsehood of having “completed” the game. Кстати. почему не было такого яростного рева по поводу лгбт-персонажа в первой части? 2. Вы удивитесь, но у женщин тоже может разное телосложение, (но видимо не большинству по- прежнему подавай барбиподобных моделей а-ля Лара Крофт). 3. Да, Джоэл был убит практически в начале игры, ну камон, вы серьезно думали что все будут жить долго и счастливо? Претензии к сюжету ("story - 0"). тут, конечно, могут быть разные мнения, но как по мне. это один из самых сбалансированных и продуманных игровых сценариев ever. Никакой размазни в виде однотипных сайдквестов, все внимание сосредоточено на двух главных героинях, их мотивации предельно понятны и обоснованны (пока не читал адекватных ревью, опровергающих это, если таковые есть - с удовольствием прочту.) Отдельное удовольствие - наблюдать как их маршруты сходятся в одной точке, и модный ныне сценарный трюк (привет Игре Престолов) - заставить сначала возненавидеть антагониста, а затем проникнуться к нему симпатией и состраданием, реализован здесь блестяще. Openworld игре противопоказан, ничто не отвлекает от сюжета. Что меня поразило, так это фантастический уровень агрессии и жестокости, особенно это касается боевых сцен с участием людей. Игра постоянно держит в напряжении и не прощает ошибок (если играть на высоком уровне сложности), стелс-режим реализован просто топово, стратегий для победы множество, отдельный кайф наблюдать за реакцией врагов на потерю товарища или собаки - ни в одной игре не видел такого внимания к деталям. Я уж молчу про мрачную красоту и продуманность каждой локации, саундтрек тоже не подкачал (композитор тот же, расстроенные гитары и дарк-эмбиент на месте). После опустошающего открытого финала (где сценаристы снова делают за игрока тяжелый моральный выбор) остается приятный дискомфорт и ощущение, что принял участие в чем-то действительно важном. Думаю, это лучшая игра)в которую я когда-либо играл (да-да, даже первая часть в стороне). P.S. через несколько дней прохождения захотело перепройти Horizon и не смог, потому про сравнению с глубиной TLOU2, Элой показалась мне просто картонной пустышкой.… Expand

It doesn't matter if it fits their character or makes sense, if it needs to be done to keep things grim then it'll happen.

    Make no mistake, these aren't characters so much as they are caricatures; they're really that distorted and cartoonish.

    The same goes for the way the plot unfolds; it doesn't matter if it seems contrived or far-fetched or if it seems incredibly improbable - if it allows an easy path to create further trouble, it's gonna happen whether it's convincing or not.

    It's like the author thinks the players are in their early teens, an odd thing considering the game is 18+ only.

    Honestly, the vast majority of people in this game are damaged goods. They don't want happiness nor do they seek any way to resolve their problems other than violence. They cannot even disagree when simply discussing things without insults and bitterness. Is it something in the water?

    I believe history teaches us that most people come together and put aside their differences in times of conflict, when the need for survival is greatest. In this post-apocalypse? People just double down and desire more suffering. It's crazy. More importantly though, it's lazy, shallow and I didn't find it in anyway convincing.

    So, the game supposedly wants me to feel emotions, it's supposed to be the main draw but I simply couldn't, not after the first 5 hours. Most of these people are hopeless, a lost cause. They're lemmings and all I could do was watch as they pointlessly flail about, fighting over each other to reach the cliff edge.

    Possibly the most laughable decision is to create a character that kills a beloved one from the first game and then force you to play as that character WITHOUT any backstory until later. I'm assuming they did that to try and get you to like/understand them but that's a colossal task that requires a skill waaaaay beyond the person who wrote this.

    It's a ridiculous thing to do. By the time I found out more, I already had gotten used to hating the character completely and simply didn't care. They should have made this whole game about them and then brought them into contact with the characters that we know in a third game.

    And the ending? Good grief. I'm guessing it was supposed to be thought provoking and meaningful but it was obvious that it was going to be one of the options they went for. The way it happens though is just bland and without any discernible motivation. There is no clue that I can see as to why Ellie would choose what she did, especially since she goes out of her way from an especially safe and comforting place, long after emotions would have died down, to get to that point.

    It's just another example of a character choosing to do something 'just because'. Presumably because the writer got lost in his own world and thought it MUST be an amazing idea but we've seen endings like this many times and done much better. Like I said before, do they not know that mature, older people might play this? The game has literally nothing new to say, no believable means of delivery and no convincing reason for the ending, despite the fact that their are at least 3-5 different outcomes that would have had more impact, especially if player choice was allowed.

    This game COULD have had me reeling from certain events, if I was actually a participant but I certainly didn't have the the ability to change/direct anything as the story is linear and involves no decision making or interesting choice/consequence systems - in a high budget game in 2020 no less.....:S

    Tehcnically (graphics and sound) the game is outstanding. The combat is fairly dated and nothing new, a 7/10. The skill trees are pointless. There's too much wandering about here and there and it spoils the pacing. The new monsters are mostly enjoyable. The last act is bloated.

    In case you didn't guess, I disliked the game. It's not canon to me. Just remember the first game and ignore this. Look it up on youtube if you're really curious.    … Expand

Elle n'a rien rien appris de son périple et elle sacrifie tout pour une vengeance qui n'a plus lieu d'être. Au lieu d'etre bouleversé par ses sentiments on est juste stupéfié par sa stupidité. Naughty dog tries way to hard to "subvert expectations" and instead creates a complete train wreck of forced politics and LGBTQ ideals. I'll be honest now, first 20 minutes (or however long it took until something happened, but i'm not gonna spoil) and then it was just ruined till the end. Nothing saved it for me. Story and obviously the game will disappoint you 100%. Do not waist you money!

    Yes this game gave me a good lesson. Ellie lost her everything but it does not make him a monster or make him lose her humanity. at the end of story she showed us that she is our real hero. Abby lost the competition and ellie won it at almost same situation.
    She showed us the diffrence between the goodness power and evil power in this world.

I know a lot of people hate Abi but i actually love her character and i also understand why they made her buff. I love that they retain the gameplay mechanics of part 1 that made it so unique and engaging, the graphics is so beautiful and realistic, the map and everything felt so natural and engaging. I love its added dual sense feature, and realistic weapon sound and animation. Everything in this game is well thought out and you know that a lot of hard work has put in to making this game. The characters are engaging, and the story well... its not perfect but it is what it is. What i mean is... the storyline itself is predictable but they still manage to make it new and fresh and avoid cliches. I bet as the game gets older, more and more new people will learn to realize that this game is hella masterpiece!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Man where do I begin? This game is so far the most deepest story-driven game I have ever played. I guess one of the things that pulls players out from this game is that the makers of the Last of Us 2 made the game too human. I'd like to emphasize that, TOO HUMAN. Like humanity, as insignificant in the universe, the game's message was delivered to me (personally) that the characters in this game, dying in the most meaningless of ways, can always happen at any moment. The game is so fleshed out so close to human psyche that I myself have find it difficult to see through the game in the mood they set it in. It was difficult to see the game that has the aspects of a human and psychology, and without the normal cliches of a game like invincible heroes, black and white decision making, the boobs, and beautifully symmetrical designed characters. This game taps into the deepest core of human emotions and feelings that not all gamers can grasp, and that the game was for me, not an entertainment, but was a message that we all can relate to; whether it is in present time, or in an actual apocalypse.

    Also, my guess as to why some people hate it so much is that it betrays the norms of games and how we see games as we are accustomed to. There are no heroes in this game, and the characters, while being in a linear game, was not constructed to be warriors of morality and justice, but was built as a human, trying to survive. Characters trying to keep finding for something to fight for. I know not all gamers will agree with me, and will probably hate me for this, but I do believe those who have hated the game has either not received the true meaning of the game, or did receive it, but just wont accept it, or they are blatantly nitpicking just to spite the game.

    Like an empty wallet, a hungry stomach, and a broken heart. this game teaches a great lesson about love, hate, guilt and forgiveness. This game is a masterpiece. I wouldn't say it any other way. 10 out of 10 in my book.    … Expand

    Naugthy Dog nos demuestra que pueden hacer maravillas con el Hardware de ps4, el mundo que te presentan esta increíble mente bien hecho, tiene un nivel de detalle sorprendente, el soudtrack compuesto por Gustavo es un deleite auditivo, y el gameplay es muy divertido (especialmente en la historia de Abby).
    ¿Pero que pasó con la historia?

    Bueno, efectivamente la historia no es mejor que el primer the last of us, tiene mucho errores, como la muerte de Joel que fue super forzado, que esto hizo enojar a más de una persona. Otra de las cosas fue el poco interés que llegas a tener con los personajes de las historia de Abby, realmente son muy aburridos, no son interesantes, el más sobresaliente es Manny, pero los demás hasta te llegan a caer mal. En general la historia de Abby si me gusto por la variedad de enemigos a los que te enfrentas y por las armas, es super re jugable, pero la historia llega hacer un tanto tediosa.
    En general diría que the last of us es una obra maestra a medio coser, ya que en todos sus apartados son excelentes a excepción de la historia.
    Y en cuanto a GOTY 2020 yo creo que era más que obvio que se lo llevaría, ya que no tuvo mucha competencia.    … Expand

Почему никак не развивается идея разрушающегося мира? Почему мы не наблюдаем становление нового порядка? Совсем ничего. Ну потому что личная драма безусловно важнее.     Сюжет первой части работал, т.к. он был мне ближе. Были понятны мотивы и персонажи. Кроме того игра состояла не из одной чернухи, а скорее наоборот. Менялась от беспросветного ужаса к надежде на обретению нового смысла жизни. И вот честно, если в вашей жизни появится сын/дочь/племянник/младший брат/сестра, то сюжет сработает идеально.

    А вот во второй части нет ни одного персонажа, с которым я бы мог себя ассоциировать (ну почти). Возможно именно поэтому, за историей скучно наблюдать.
    Даже в название вынесено не просто цифра 2, а именно "Часть вторая". Но это совершенно не так.
    Скажу даже больше. Мне кажется, что невозможно быть фанатом двух частей одновременно, они противоположны по настроению и посылу.
    Можно к обеим частям относиться нейтрально, если сюжет вас не зацепит.

    А в целом в полку звездных войн, терминатора, охотников за привидениями и т.д. прибыло.
    Очередная франшиза вывернутая на изнанку в угоду прогрессивным идеям.
    Не покупайте это и не поддерживайте осквернителей своей валютой, если вам не понравились перечисленные выше продолжения некогда великих франшиз.

    Оценка моя безусловно абсолютно субъективна и в определённой степени отображает протест против вектора развития современных веяний.
    Но, потратив средства на данный продукт, я в праве высказываться о его качестве.

    Интересно что предыдущий аккаунт на metacritic был заблокирован без объяснения причин с удалением всех написанных отзывов. Посмотрим сколько проживёт этот.    … Expand

    In the first part, it was interesting for me to watch how Joel opens up to Ellie and their changing relationship, here the adventures of a lesbian who is not 1% sorry, not sorry for her ugly girlfriend, it's only a pity for Joel that he tore up his ass so much for this. And it's funny to watch only positive media reviews, because everyone is afraid to go against modern realities.

    You will be forced to be play the enemy and forced to lover her. It is 100% is the opposite what you are expecting, if you want the same experience as TLOU part 1. Save you money.

    This is because I take real pity on all the game world designers, graphic artists, animators, sound creators, etc. They did a great job with this, as they did with the first game. Also, the one who came up with the idea that it would be interesting/fun/immersive to be forced to play with a non-immersive character that all but narcissistic-minded people hate to play as.
    It is also part of this bad story that they changed the personality of those we got to know in TLOU1. Changed without explaining how or why It all seems to be to force the narrative for this sorry excuse for a story.
    Part of the story also reeks of woke liberal nonlogical behavior.
    It is sad that all this quality was totally destroyed by the story. What a missed opportunity!    … Expand

    It's beautiful but that's all, clearly the game is far too long for what it says, we literally spend several hours moving forward without learning anything, the events of the scenario take place in such a null way, the message that wants to make the game look as mundane as possible. Clearly this game just took advantage of the desert that was 2020 in terms of video game releases

Вторую часть игры играть вовсе не хочется, персонажи не раскрываются персонажам абсолютно не сопереживаешь. Не раскрыта история противостояния псов и шрамов, почему они противостоят, что у шрамов за женщина идол. Я ждал игру по полюбившимся мне персонажам из первой части. Я принял смерть Джоэла но не так глупо и бездарно, а потом пихать его в шлешбэки так себе занятие. Я как и большинство геймеров принял бы игру если бы история Эбби была рассказана в начале что бы мы могли ей проникнуться и понять ее желание отомстить. Да и смерть Джоэла можно было бы обыграть поинтереснее и где нибудь в середине игры. А так оценка 2 за сильнейшее разочарование. Поду перепройду первую часть и успокоюсь.… Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
