    i give 2 rate for graphics only, everything else is very bad, The second part has another goal, unlike what it was in the first part, and this is what makes it serve different ideas for the writer, thus making the game lose its fun.

    The plot itself is not bad, interesting twists, different moments. Nice graphics with beautiful locations. But the characters and dialogues leave much to be desired. All of them, as for me, are quite the same type and boring.

    I think 8 is the most realistic rating for the last of us part 2
    What I don't like about the game is that you play most of the game as the main villain, like Abby, and the fact that Joel died shortly at the beginning of the game.
    The story, the graphics, the soundtrack is beautiful and so on.

    So I just finished my 3rd playthrough of this game. Now.. in the first playthrough I spend the time that I had with Abby with absolute disgust and hate. I wasn't able to think objectively and see beyond my curtain of hatred. I couldn't get behind the idea of spending half of my game time on a game that I thought was supposed to be about Joel and Ellie with a new character that at thisSo I just finished my 3rd playthrough of this game. Now.. in the first playthrough I spend the time that I had with Abby with absolute disgust and hate. I wasn't able to think objectively and see beyond my curtain of hatred. I couldn't get behind the idea of spending half of my game time on a game that I thought was supposed to be about Joel and Ellie with a new character that at this point I only wanted to murder.

    I rushed through Abby's part as quickly as I could. I ended up saying things like "Okay I can see what Neil Druckmann tried here but it didn't work for me. The story was okay but I was disappointed with the choices they did in the narrative structure, but the rest of the game is a masterpiece".

    I went into my second playthrough with the objective to be... objective! and approach the whole Abby scenario with open-mindedness! And it worked. I started liking Abby and I started to empathize with her story. I finished the game with a much more satisfying feeling towards the story and its characters.

    The 3rd playthrough only strengthened that feeling and it came to a point where I wasn't so sure anymore if I enjoyed Ellie's or Abby's story more. The conflicts between Ellie and Abby just left me speechless. I like both characters, I understand the reasoning behind their doings. I empathize with them. I don't want either to die. It certainly would have been a gruesome finisher if Ellie really would have killed Abby in the end. But I think the choice the narrative directors did here was absolutely fine. The tiny problem that I have here is that I don't know if it was entirely realistic for Ellie to not kill Abby. You see, from a player's point of view it is by far the most reasonable decision to make. We understand both POVs and we know what they both went through. It was a cycle of hatred of two people that lost everything. The problem here is that Ellie doesn't know really know what Abby has gone through so I don't know if it was entirely realistic for her to stop the killing even when it was all she could think of for months. What an incredibly hard decision to make for the narrative directors. I respect the decision to leave Abby alive at the end. It was the more satisfying ending and maybe it isn't all too far-fetched that Ellie stopped the killing when she saw how Abby was tormented and at the same time thinking about Joel and the fact that Abby let her live not only once but twice. Maybe it really was the more realistic choice.

    I also feel like the side cast of this game is pretty underrated. A lot of people call characters like Owen and Jesse trash just because they don't play a MAJOR role in the game. I feel like these characters perfectly tied into the entire story. They may not have been the most influential on the story but the way they came and went tied in so well.

    I just wanted to get that off of my chest and say that this game is a masterpiece. The story is still not close to the first part but it is a damn good story for sure. And like I said before. Gameplay, graphics, soundtrack, animation work, details, world-building, etc are a masterpiece.

    I challenge people that disliked the narrative or disliked Abby after the first playthrough to leave the game alone for a few weeks/months and come back with a more objective attitude. Now that you know how the story plays out, you won't be surprised and caught off guard by the unorthodox story structure. I promise you won't regret it.

    TLoU part 1 : a symphony of bittersweetness

    TLoU part 2: a ugly black gaping hole where everybody hates everybody, destroys everything and bashes everyones head in. And oh yeah, Ellie loses 2 fingers and that's the conclusion of the game. Yay!

    So, every character sucks in this game, including Ellie (no that not because she is gay).
    Basicly TLoU2 is "hate, anger, darkness: the game". But not in an entertaining way. In a gruesome way. Everybody loses, including the player.

    The only thing NOT destroyed after this game is the settlement in Jackson. Maybe they can destroy it in part 3.

    Sure, Naughty Dog knows how to make a game ... but man this story is not cool in any way.

    Fans lined up to buy the game was a testimony of the love and money they were willing to give for MORE of what they got in the first game. The fact that ND and Naughty Dog pissed all over those fans by dragging them into a world that completely took you away from the first game... is unforgivable. And even if that fact wasn't even the worst of it all!

    This is an amazing game, I think everyone should go through it. The Lgbt agenda is not so common and does not interfere, although I do not understand why everyone liked Part 1, if Ellie was already a lesbian there?

    If you loved the first game, DO NOT buy this one. The creates of game try to push the narrative that Joel deserved his brutal death because he killed the Fireflies who were preventing to save his Ellie. Conveniently ignoring that Ellie was going to be murdered by the wonderful Zebra loving doctor without her knowledge and prior consent. I did not like the death of Joel and I am not a fan of then having to play the majority of the game as Joel's murderer. Thanks for ruining my favourite game, I regret deeply buying this game and that my money will ultimately end up as game revenue for Naughty Dog!    … Expand

    This game isn't trying to push any political agenda, the main character just happens to be a lesbian it does not affect the game at all, nor does the trans character in the game. If you want to play as a straight white male I can name countless games.

    The production quality is by far the highest of any video game that's been released so far. Anyone denying this is delusional, frankly. I thought the story was fantastic and well done, but I can certainly understand that others didn't feel that way. But the people giving this 0/10 are childish idiots. Yes, I'm probably talking about you who's reading this right now.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let's face it. There are no AAA-developed games under a 5.0. In the first place, it's amazing that any bit of code touched by hundreds of programmers, artists, actors, etc, even turns into a playable mass. Most of the '0' reviews on here are hatred-filled joke reviews written by people who I very much doubt even touched the game. It's sad to see, for example, voice actors literally being sent death threats over their part in the game. The only people at fault here are the game directors and writers; but even they do not deserve most of what a loud angry minority of gamers are giving them. If you dislike the story, that's fine. However, that does not mean the people behind the game deserve to 'kill themselves' or 'have their dog be raped' or whatever. Now that that's out of the way; let's begin. I loved this game. AND I loved the first game. I understand gamer's dislike of Joel being killed off right at the beginning of the game. I understand not liking being forced to play as Abby for half of the runtime. I understand disliking the depressing and revenge-filled storyline. Why am okay with all of this? Because that's what you're supposed to feel. You're supposed to feel robbed when Joel died. You're supposed to have to hate Abby when you get control of her. Because at the end of the journey, this game is not about making you happy. It's not some teenager fan fiction. It's a **** apocalypse. Everything gets taken away from Ellie. We experience that in a painstaking, difficult, tragic 10-15 hours. We hate Abby, hate what's she done, what's she's ruined. And then we get put in her shoes, and find Ellie doing the same exact thing we hate Abby for. The entire runtime of the game is spent seeking what Ellie thinks is revenge, and at the end of it, we see where it leaves us. It leaves us with nothing. With nothing but an empty feeling inside. In a world filled with death and despair, we find that the whole game isn't spent trying to fix all of it like we thought, but instead about causing more of it. We find that revenge wasn't the end game. Revenge was found in the first hour, with the death of Joel. Everything after that? A desperate attempt to find meaning in life. Ellie's meaning of living was the cure. That didn't work. She turned to revenge. It didn't work. Marriage and family? It also didn't work. She didn't find happiness. And neither should we, playing this game. Yes, everything gets taken away from Ellie, and it's sad and it sucks, and it feels like it's stepping all over the first game. But what we fail to realize, is that everything was taken away from Abby first, from the Fireflies, in the first game. In fact, the 'most fair' situation in the whole series? It's right after Joel died. Abby got her father taken away from her, and so Ellie got her's taken right back. The Last of Us: Part II isn't a revenge story. It's what it is: An apocalypse. One where no one ends happy. That's the point of the story Naughty Dog is telling. It seems unfair Joel gets taken away from Ellie, but at the same time, it's unfair that Jerry, Owen, Mel, Manny, Yara, Nora, etc all get taken away from Abby. It's a sad and depressing story. It shows us life isn't always fair. And that's what's beautiful about it.… Expand

    Grande game, talvez o melhor que já pude jogar. Mostra como as coisas tem seus tons cinza, o que boa parte do pessoal que deu nota baixa não entendeu. Melhor visual em um jogo que pude jogar, melhor roteiro e gameplay. Um dos poucos jogos que daria uma nota maior se pudesse ser feito.

    Destruiram tudo que o primeiro jogo construiu. Forçaram algumas cenas LGBT, uma história fraca e um final horrível. Era melhor ter ficado no primeiro jogo mesmo.

    Obs: técnicamente o jogo é muito bem feito mas só isso.

    At least with George, one could argue, he didn’t know what he was ruining for everybody.
    With Neil this is not the case.
    He intentionally destroys everything a fan cared about in the previous game bit by bit, until nothing is left but deep and black emptiness.
    And no, this was not a plot choice, it was a deliberate attempt to send all of the fans a message. A message of hatred.

    Don’t get me wrong. The game is beautifully made. I have never seen such love to detail. The story is extremely well written and the cast is enormous. This is not a question of performance. Objectively it is probably the best game ever made, but the deliberate choice Neil took to destroy something beautiful is something I will never forgive or forget.
    He took everything away from what was once one of my all time favorite worlds.
    I finished TLOU on grounded at least 5 times - yes I was that addicted, to the story, to the gameplay, to the characters.

    But TLOU II is the biggest F**K YOU to a fan I have ever witnessed.
    Neil, Why did you have to take away everything from her? A friend? A father figure? Love? Even the ability to play the guitar? WTF Neil?
    What is wrong with you.
    This is not a valid decision to make a point.
    You could have told the story in so many ways, you could have made the same point, cleat and understandable, but not as devastating as you did.
    It would have been great, it would have been ok, it would have been acceptable.
    But now I had to see a character I learned to love walk away with nothing in her life.
    NOTHING.
    Do you know what it feels like to stand in front of emptiness in the midst of your depression ?
    I do - this is NOT a message you want to make.
    This is not the end of a story you want give, if you actually cared about your audience.

The game play is repetitive but I was okay with grinding it out for these characters I love dearly. I knew Joel would die, there was no way he wouldn't. But when the game throws away your passions for revenge and seeing it through in a vain effort to humanize his murderers by making you play ~15 hours as his murderer and tries to make you care about her and her myriad of friends who's names you barely remember, at that point don't even make the game. It's not bold, it's just sad and I had such a hard time actually continuing to play to the end. And even then after what felt like grinding the ending isn't rewarding at all. They shouldn't have made this game.… Expand

    This is a story game, no one's say: yeah this game have nice gameplay and graphics, it doesn't matter what the story would become, i will play in anyway. I think the metacritic score is like this because the story is objective, but bad story like this (as if on purpose because, later than first game story making such a bad story takes a separate skill ) how it can be ignored...

La verdad me pareció un pedazo de juego, me encanta todos los sentimientos que te hace sentir, muy bien logrado, a parte de para mí, los mejores gráficos de está generación, el final me pareció bien y cuerente ya que Ellie dejo vivir a Abby por el simple hecho de que Abby le perdono la vida 2 VECES, y además ellie pensaba que la única manera de perdonar a Joel era vengarlo matando a Abby pero al final la dejo vivir porque comprendió que así no era la manera, en cambio a la muerte de Joel, primero que nada digo que no te podes enojar al punto de odiar TODO el juego, simplemente porque mataron a un personaje que se lo merecía y que era más que obvio que iba a morir, además me pareció bien está decisión ya que es el causante de la venganza de Ellie, y si la que hubiera muerto era Dina no hubiera sido un "BOOM" tan grande en ellie como la muerte del personaje que sería como su padre. Nos hacen jugar con Abby para poder comprender sus motivos pero si estás tan enojado y ya de por si por la muerte de Joel odiar el juego no vas a empatizar con ella es obvio. Si no entendiste la historia NO TE VA A GUSTAR EL JUEGO,y porfavor no seas tan ridículo de decir que no te gustó el juego SI NO LO JUGASTE, para mí. 10/10… Expand

Please understand that I am, and always will be, a fan of the first The Last of Us and Naughty Dog in general. That being said, I was HIGHLY disappointed and disturbed by the lack of story, depth and feeling this game had for the its fans.

    Ironically the had reviews are actually due to an event that happened in the story rather than the gameplay which the story definitely makes you hate even more as it progresses which actually something they did successfully. In reality the story isn’t that bad at all (other than the “scene”) and has improved the gameplay a lot from the first one.     Overall, the game has simply amazing graphics.
    Everything about it is beautiful, whether the setting, the characters, EVERYTHING is beautiful and well-crafted

    However, its main downsides are a generic gameplay, not much different from other common stealth actions.

    Other than that, what hurts most is the story, totally poorly written and convenient

    The aim of the game is to show how ellie dealt with Joel's murder, how she got revenge and how it harmed her and everyone around her.
    Looking at it, the plot looks well worked, as the impressive thing in the first game was to take at least one generic plot and literally revolutionize it.
    However, this is not the case in TLOU 2, as the plot is very shallow, the characters are poorly developed, most of them enter and soon after become dead weight to the plot, and the fact that the game has two campaigns has greatly harmed the development of Ellie's campaign, since there was no time to do a good development for the character, and they ended up leaving all of her motivations shallow and meaninglessThe problem with the game was the fact that there were too many characters in the plot, which had room to develop, but ended up being useless in the plot due to very convenient events.
    It's quite different from the first game, which focused solely on the story of Joel and Ellie, which gave the game a lot of time to develop them.

    And of course one of the WORST things about this game: the meaning and message that Naughty Dog wanted to convey, which is a simple phrase taught by our parents when we were kids: Violence / Revenge is not good and it hurts others

    They try to get that message across, but fail miserably because: during the last fight between Abby and Ellie, Ellie somehow ends up not killing Abby, and they kind of become "friends"
    That's where the issue of revenge comes in, because at that moment they demonstrated the purpose of the plot. But do they fail because Ellie has committed the greatest revenge possible: killing all of Abby's friends and then leaving Abby alive to live with it for the rest of her life? What is the meaning of the message that the game wants to convey?

OK, this game is horrible but let me explain, in this game I expected a story that connects me to the characters like the first game with engaging dialogue that lets me understand and see them make decisions that make complete sense in the situation. hahaha no there is none of that there is so much BS that goes on and to the point that you are cheering on for these poorly developed characters to die and die again as they make the most stupidest decisions that lead to serious cringe to wtf just happened moments making you lose brain cells along the way. The story is all over the place as you have flashbacks to why the character is doing this, but in the second half, you play as Abby in an earlier section of the game to catch up to ellies part so you can have symphony for her. and you keep on having flashbacks in flashbacks and this keeps on happening over and over which kills the suspense of the game constantly. The gameplay is so easy playing hard mode is comparable to easy mode in the first game and I had to switch it to grounded so I can have a challenge. the gameplay is the exact same as the first with one new infected that is basically a suicide bomber that does dick all damage, and all enemies have the same rail back and forth ai as the first. but the only thing that they did change which impressed me is the stalkers as they are no longer seeable in listening mode which makes things more tense but can be exploited by running around as they are prone blocked (because they are hiding) they have a solid second delay to react to your new location and are easily killable. the crafting system is so boring that you can easily get the guns to one-shot anything. Compared to the first game where you had to get tools to be able to further upgrade the weapons and it was noticeable that they improved slightly but now it doesn't matter. Now the graphics/ animation holy **** they are so beautiful that it shows a nextgen feel which pushes the hardware to its fullest but knowing that it is wasted on this story you just don't care. With everything other than the story it is at a 5/10 but the story brings it to a 2/10 or 3/10

    Play the game yourself before judging. You may very well dislike it, but give it a chance and the story may resonate with you. It’s not for everyone though.

    This game being bad made it actually made it more memorable, people didn't wanna play as this main character, they wanted joel, like how when dkc3 came out everyone disregarded it because people wanted to be donkey kong. Out of all of the bad triple A ps4 titles this ones the most memorable, all the bad games from this specific generation are why this generation was so memorable.

    This game broke my hard in the most pleasent way. I literally couldn't sleep After reaching final scene. The most valuable experience as a gamer that was ever had. 10 out 10, if these master piece can be rated.

Joel was cool and all, but his actions had to have repercussions. The world of tlou is MEANT to be realistic. It's meant to be brutal, and that was established in the first game. It's not GTA where you can go around commiting genocide and theres no consequence

    People didnt cry and boycott the studio when they're favorite character died in the walking dead or when ned stark died in game of thrones. That's just the world they're trying to portray, and the artful story they mean to tell

The gameplay is amazing and the kills are satisfying. the graphics are probably the best yet which just amplify the amazing atmosphere. The music, still not better than the 1st game, is pretty good. You play as 2 characters Ellie and Abby. Ellie's story is pretty good, but Abby's story is badly written at times. THe ending didn't feel satisfying to me because Abby doesn't look like Abby at the end, so it doesn't really feel like you're fighting Abby, though the epilogue was great. This is a must have for players who liked the first last of us and for ps4 users in general… Expand

I found the music and the visuals good although I feel not much has improved on the gameplay, which I felt could’ve been smoother. This game was more focused on story however. I’m usually quite lenient with this part because, hey, gamers want to have good gameplay. Since it was more story oriented, here it goes. First things first, the characters. The psychologies of characters are uncharacteristic to what they were in the first game and that made the dynamic cold and less engaging. The political view has narrowed down to the mentality of the 'popular' few and is therefore less universal and diverse. I think too many directors have watched The Walking Dead and maybe think that, that’s how peoples’s minds ought to work. You can’t help but feel that this tendency for the arthouse blues and constant sighed deliveries are the directors attempt at adding enigmatic depth when there really is none. It’s POST-APOCOLYPSE! Am I supposed to believe that Ellie would give up a steak sandwich to make an LGBT point or that there would be a droid-filled she-hulk with a gym pass? Which leads me to my next point. Glaring feminism and LGBT references do nothing for those movements. They just annoy fans who enjoy good stories. All that did was make characters colder and less relatable. Who chose Abby to be one of the protagonists??? I really had to grit my teeth to finish the second half of the game. The character sucks. Her self destructiveness, egoism, constant 'Are you ok? Are you ok?', most likely thrown in to endear her to the audience. POP PSYCHOLOGY. Read a Dostoyevsky book to see how real psychologists write, reason and discover pathological tendencies. Also Ellie’s constant attacks on Joel just seemed petty, egotistical and lacking in any sort of values. More relevant in the 'rich' western world than in the place she was inhabiting. Her warmth, loyalty and cheekiness from the first game were swallowed up by a much more base instinct and so she became less profound for me. I think in general this was another popular franchise that was derailed by a wave of these so called “reformers”. The problem for me is that they seem like petty tantrums that should be left at an appropriate age. If you want to succeed further start with a relatable and resonating storyline. Good ones tend to penetrate cultural differences. For example: I've recently watched a film called 'The City of God'. Great film. Now I'm not a little Brazilian kid, but I could resonate with feelings like power, jealousy, love, lust... The characters don't have to be white, straight or male. It’s a question of depth. Most reviewers quite frankly discredited themselves by telling would be buyers to ignore the tens of thousands of frustrated fans. We're not cattle to use for a quick financial gain. The insolence to then write articles to explain why the unhappy gamers are wrong is quite frankly outrageous. In my opinion there is nothing to attach to in this story and a mark of a good story is usually memorable characters. Are these though?… Expand

    - La IA es igual que la del primer juego. -1 quedamos en 9/10
    -Las escenas de la guitarra tienen signifacado, pero no tienen un puto sentido y es una paja tener que tocarla. -2 quedamos en 7/10
    -El director fue Druckman. -100000 quedamos en 0/10
    -La Jugabilidad es preciosa(sistema de armas, loot, puntería), uno de los puntos fuertes del juego. +3 quedamos en 3/10
    -La música, ambientación y los coleccionables también ayudan y no me pareció mal. +2 vamos en 5/10
    -Con la historia le daré un +4 por la primera mitad, pero le quitaré -2 por poner esas escenas de mierda de pelicula hollywood. 7/10
    -Abby... empezaré dandole +1 porque me gustó el combate con ella (8/10) pero le quito -4 por hacernos jugar con ella LA OTRA MITAD DEL JUEGO en un intento vago de generar empatía y culpa. (4/10)
