Cannot believe how disappointing this game is for me. Astounding graphics/gameplay wasted because of the garbage writing in this game. 7 years for this? Really? Y'all can't think of a better story? 2020's already been a sh*tty year and ND decided to drop this stink bomb of a game and thought it great. News flash it isn't.

It tries to do something bold and different with the story but in my opinion it’s just done very poorly and could have been done much better. What they were trying to do with the story is interesting but it just doesn’t work. It was actually kind of hard to get through this game because the story is just not enjoyable for the most part. But it seems to me maybe that’s what naughty dog was trying to accomplish idk? Other than that everything else about this game is top tier. I mean the graphics on this game are absolutely gorgeous. I mean maybe the best of this generation. The combat was amazing I mean you actually feel what’s going on in game it can get super intense, and it’s top tier combat. The music like the first game is just exceptional. Playing on a harder difficulty gives you a real challenge and also that realistic feel which I love. I’d recommend waiting to buy this game until it goes on sell because i think it’s going to be very hard to replay this game if you aren’t the biggest fan of the story. The combat and actual gameplay can only carry this game so much. Having a great story is crucial to a game like this. So I can’t justify a $60 purchase. I was torn between giving this game a 6 or 7 and I ultimately choose 7 because it does have some very satisfying gameplay and some serious intense gaming moments. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I created an account just to review this game. That's how strongly I about it.

Loved the first game. It was one of the all-time best. It was made great by the incredibly well crafted story with compelling character arcs. This sequel had none of that; NONE OF THAT. All of these reviewers writing about a great touchy-feely story with moral lessons must be children. In my opinion, it all came across as Hollywood readymade fluff made up of tired topes. I know that some people will summarily dismiss this review by calling me a trans/homophobe without countering any of the points I make. Ignore those people and really think about what I'm writing before you spend your hard earned money on this game.

It was all sacrificed to push an LGBTQ agenda. Not a problem in itself, but it was done in a way that did nothing for the story. It would have taken five minutes to set the sexual orientation of the characters and then move on to writing a great story and characters. Instead, they completely destroyed the bleak and raw atmosphere of the first game. It also took away valuable time to create meaningful, and most of all, CONVINCING character arcs. You have to suspend a lot of disbelief in this version of a post apocalyptic world. It created a story that was disjointed at best. It made cut scenes feel excruciatingly long because of the framing of lesbian love and trans story lines injected into them with no real purpose to the story line or audience. I am not saying this because I am against those social norms. I would feel the same way if the game was trying to convince me to accept vegans, or omnivores for that matter. It would deter from the the experience of the game. Unless of course that was the intended purpose of the game...

There are loooong video sequences with many wasted minutes dedicated solely to: a lesbian kiss at a party between two of the main characters, cueing up the overused stereotype of the redneck that stirs up trouble because of it, a conversation between Joel and Ellie about the incident, a love scene between the two females in a basement pot garden, and then the happy couple living on a farm in the country raising an infant. Then there's all of the other small moments of dialogue incidental to this narrative. I don't want to buy a game to get prosthelytized to ad-nauseum.
You could easily cut hours of video and live sequences from the game with no sacrifice to the narrative.

And then there's the rest of the cutscenes. There are a lot. If I wanted to watch a movie, that's what I would do; not play a game. There are long sections of play where you're just running through a dream sequence or reliving a memory. I guess some people might call this gameplay because you have to open a door or crouch through some meaningless action. It felt like they did this as an afterthought to give you "something" to do as a player. The farmhouse sequence is one of the worst. You get to walk around as part of the happy couple carrying a baby while herding goats into a barn. Yes, really, herding goats. I found this to be a total waste of time. I found myself wishing I could skip many sections of the game and just "get on with it."

Finally, they rewrote Joel into a faint shadow of what you experience in the first game. This is a fatal flaw. He was easily one of the best characters ever to grace the world of fiction. He is why the first game was such a success. Instead of vigilant, shrewd ,and wise; he's unaware, weak, and dumb. Then, he gets killed before the game really even gets started. He gets killed and replaced by protagonists that aren't written anywhere close to level that Joel was.

Way to go developers. You just killed one of the best games ever. Even the wooden sky bridges running through Seattle fifty-stories high made the game feel like a fantasy adventure instead of the dark world of the first game. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

Oh yeah, let's not forget the original had one of the best endings in video game history. This sequel gets the title for "worst ending".

The game was really disturbing and uncomfortable, I hated to play Abby, like physically hated, and I was so heartbroken after finishing the game. I still haven't coped with this feeling of grief (and it's been almost two weeks already). But no other game made me feel such strong feelings, ever, so for me it's masterpiece. The story is great, but I realized it only several days after finishing the game (after some thinking). Scars plot line didn't work for me (looked a little bit like tomb raider), so minus one point for that.
Anyway, I've started new game + and I see now all the moments which wasn't able to understand during the first time playing. Naughty Dog, so many thanks for the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLOU2 is a very fun action horror game in terms of gameplay.
The gameplay is so much better than The original with many improvements I love the new combat and some of the new weapons this game brings. However, I didn't play last of us 2 just for gameplay I played it for its story and oh boi is it bad... Now the game has some really cool story moments when you're in the flashback scenes but the overall story is complete jank full of plot holes for example in the first game Joel was a deep complex character that knew the wasteland but here he's like oh look strangers hers my name and id dw about it. for me he's not even the same character any more.
Most characters in this game are so 1 note its not funny take Dina as an example what is her character outside of "I love Ellie" what is there? Sure we learn some stuff from her past, but she's so one note that's nowhere near as complex as character Bill in the first game or Tes or anyone else that was there. This is failure of a sequel in my opinion. If there's a 3rd part I'm not buying it.

I enjoyed it too much, the most ambitious game that I have played until today. I did not like Aby at first but little by little she won my heart to the point of drawing tears in a particular situation. Great game that explores the different faces that the characters have as heroes and villains at the same time. I finished it a week ago and I'm still reflecting on what I experienced.

Ich kann nur hoffen das es trotz der großen Kritik, die ich beim besten willen nicht verstehen kann, weiterhin solche mutig erzählten Geschichten in Games gibt. Absolutely loved the first game, played it over and over again, and when I heard they were making a second one, I couldn’t contain my excitement!! But when the second instalment arrived.........well I can say I’ve played it through once and will not be playing it again. The game itself was very well done and the graphics were flawless, but I didn’t enjoy playing Ellie as much as I thought I would and the whole character swapping was the final nail in the coffin. The biggest setback for me was the story, from the moment Joel died I just felt like the game betrayed him by letting us play the girl that killed him and tried to tell her sob story so that killing Joel wouldn’t be so bad. Then right at the end after all that struggle, Ellie let her go!! I mean WTF?!?! Just a totally piss poor effort from naughty dog. Will not be playing the third if there is unless it’s a total rewrite of this poor effort of a story!! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I want to start out by saying this was no where near the worst game I have ever played. In fact some parts of the game are actually really good. But for me the gameplay loops with the humans npcs and the writing in general didn't make for a fun experience. And honestly I disagree with the idea that the game is too bleak but mostly because the writing, imo, doesn't earn that emotion. I hope to say what I liked that keeps me from rating this game lower and then go a little bit into why this game just didn't gel well with me and was at times a chore to play.

I think the flashback sequences were really well done and brought back much of the feeling of the last title. And I do wish to make it clear that I came into this title as a fan of the last game, But they present a bit of an issue that will be gone over towards the end. I love the new infection types such as the stalker and the rat king and felt they were the most tense parts of the game. And I felt the end level of the game played much like ending to 28 days later where you unleashed an infected or two to thin out the guards. I love the subway are where you can pit infected against the gangs out to kill you. Moments like those worked and I loved them a lot. What doesn't work was everything else.

The flashbacks, imo, should have been the opening to the game let us get back that feeling from the last game and then you kill Joel as it would have more impact. As it was the flashbacks seemed so random and out of place. I also don't like Abby as written because she doesn't make sense compared to Ellie in that Ellie has PTSD and yet Abby doesn't? And Abby going from a one track tunnel vision person to being altruistic after the deed is done just doesn't happen in human psychology and you need only to look at studies on the aftermath of families who attend the execution of someone who killed a loved one to know that you don't just go back to normal you
after something like torture and killing people. I am sure some military Service people can back me up on that. So it takes me out of the immersion when Abby seems to walk away mostly fine but it's
Ellie who is damaged. I mean even that doctor lady who was with Abby admitted to hearing Joels screams in her sleep and yet Abby is just fine? Ellie has nightmares about Joel but Abby only ever dreams of her dad and often not in a PTSD kind of way? Does this make any sense to anyone else?
And that's really the rub. The story and plot conveniences tend to fall apart the more you think about it. Ellie's in trouble oh look Jessie just happens to be near by. Abby in the sight of the sniper Let's just have Manny show up out of no where.I could go on and on with the number of times I was taken out
of the story but I won't. When I am fighting to survive against the infected that's when I was immersed
anytime after that I felt taken out of the story and found my encounters with the human NPCs to be boring. I know others disagree and feel the infected sections were the boring part but I guess different strokes. I also felt a bit lied to as the cult that hated LGBT seems to be so little of this game
when the marketing made it seem so much bigger then it was I thought they would be who we fight
through out the game and we didn't. I don't understand the advertising choices.

Now as I finish this off notice I made no mention of politics or Abby being trans or implied to be. My own daughter is trans so this was never an issue for me. Abby isn't bad because she's implied to be trans she's bad because her character arch just doesn't make sense and it made for moments when I should be crying into moments of Meh because the writing is so disconnected with what's on screen
that it's hard to connect to those emotions that the game wants me to feel. If anything the politics
and trans and gay rights issues are just so small that it's the least of this games worries. So much
so that I don't mention them till now because they didn't really effect anything in either a good or
bad way. You could honestly take them out and lose nothing from the story. And that's why I rate this
so low. Not because of politics, not because of youtubers but because I played it and just found
the game to have some bright spots but a lot of just baffling spots that just didn't add up to an experience I had hoped to have coming off the last game in the series. And as I close this out I want
to say it's not as bad as I was lead to believe it would be, It's not great by any means but it needs so
much more work especially on the Abby character. If they could tighten that up and keep the infected then maybe a third game will make me love the series again. Till then I just can't really recommend this game.

Honestly speaking, one big disappointment (gameplay, plot, characters, lore - everything from the first part is ruined). I would not recommend this game to anyone. Also, the authors' response to criticism was from being adequate. The game is purely awful, while the authors started emphasizing political context of criticism in order to make better impression. Such a disappointment.

It’s hard for me to write this comment, since I have been waiting for this game for almost 6 years, after I completed the first part on the newly purchased PS4.
I tried very hard not to run into spoilers before the release of the long-awaited sequel, and all these years of waiting, I carefully followed the news about the continuation of the story of Ellie ...
I can’t say that this game, in my opinion, is the best game at the moment, because it is saturated from head to toe with tremendous efforts in development, with a great desire to make a masterpiece and something worthwhile, attention to details, this the game just gets out of the whole industry!
But my assessment is caused by ardent bewilderment and a huge question: “Why did ND bend so much under feminism ??? Under the opinion of minorities ??? Where does such a desire to please LGBT people and the like ??? What for???"
They tried to put all this homosexuality into every free cell of this game, and then Neal suggested that indignant players not buy - if they didn’t like it.
I am sorry that in our time almost nothing remains except “gray morality”!

The plot will cause resentment in many, but as for me, this is exactly what you need. Complex and unbearably difficult denouement of the fates of our favorite heroes. Sleepless nights are guaranteed.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There are several reasons why you should avoid this game. I`ll evaluate this for you in the most objective but complete way I can, so you can see how this game was massacred. Please note that I loved Last of Us 1, and loved the DLC. I`ll talk about the technical, and the propaganda at the end.

    -> The Good part:
    a) Graphics are awesome, no problem there. However, most games nowadays have amazing graphics and sceneries that live us in awe, so I don't think that "good graphics" can redeem anything. But yeah, they are good.
    b) Gameplay was kind of fixed. The first game has stiffy gameplay to me, but it worked. They polished the right places and it feels better. Again, not a redeeming factor. In no way, this gameplay stands out from any modern game. Additionally, if I am going to compare to newer games, it is still far behind what it should be.
    c) OST is fine, audio is top-notch. What you expect from big-budget titles.

    The Bad. Be prepared:
    a) Supreme, epic, god-awful story. It is like they ripped the script of TLOU 1 and tossed it into the fire. We all expected that something bad was going to happen, and we were fine with it. After all, Joel stormed into a base, killed everyone, and ran away with mankind's cure in its arms. Yeah, well. Joel was dumb down in a horrific way. It is like he is nothing in this world. His death has no meaning. Ellie, by her turn, was more mature in TLOU 1 than she is here. The story does not feel like an epic adventure you start to be surprised, no, it is about random, non-meaningful acts of violence to shock you. But again, they have NO MEANING. They will shock you sometimes, but you will just be sad to see the scenes, they will not appeal to anything. Some people liked it because "it is like real life". Yes, but this is still a game. We expect that these kinds of scenes to build up to something. But in The Last of Us 2, they are there because they had no idea how to write a story. Thus, they took the lazy road, shocking you instead of bringing you content that would make you think, like the first game. Plot holes EVERYWHERE.
    b) The characters. They are hollow. They have no depth. I have no idea how could someone say "great characters" in their review. You will feel nothing for any character in this game. Hollow, boring, uninspired. Even Ellie lost her maturity in this game. Joel became a dumb person. It is sad for me to say this because the first game knew how to build them. They feel like those Walking Dead characters that appear in one episode and die 2 episodes later, where they make a 15 min flashback of their past to TRY to give you some feeling but fail.
    c) Abby. Those who care about Abby being muscular and etc are just ignorant fools. Who the hell cares? The problem is how they handled her. She kills Joel, a beloved character, a death with no meaning in this game. But how, in the Nine Hells, are you supposed to like playing with her for HALF THE GAME? They try to picture her as a good person but fail. You CANT build empathy towards Abby for three reasons: 1) she kills a beloved character; 2) the writers and the director FAILED in providing Abby with a solid background and origin story to make you understand her; 3) she goes after another beloved character. Writers and director... you failed this character, it is not because of who Abby is, is what you built for her in-game.
    b) The conclusion. The conclusion of this story is not consistent with the whole game. The conclusion is something I would expect from a Pixar movie or a child's book. "Killing is bad". "Vengeance will not bring him back". OH PLEASE. Ellie killed hundreds of people to achieve her vengeance too, in the end, let Abby go because "vengeance leads nowhere". REALLY? Well, writers, I guess that the 100 people Ellie kills are nothing them. They are manikins, balloon people. Their deaths mean nothing then, The only important life is Abby's life. Want some real world? If someone would feel guilty and have a conscience crisis, it would have come IN THE BEGINNING. Ellie would kill people that she would realize had NOTHING TO DO with Joel's death and had a crisis right there. She would see in the first 1-3 kills. NOT AFTER 100. Not, in the end, facing her friend's killer in the face! That how these kinds of crisis work in the real world, go read about it. Hence, the EPIC conclusion for this game is... KILLING IS BAD. Abby gets her vengeance, Ellie does not. Why? Because the director wanted.

Finally, everyone talks about SJW propaganda. And yes, it is there. So now let me explain why it is handled badly. These topics are important for the real world, yes, they are! But guess what? For the world of LAST OF US, they are not on the top of the list. Thus, in many moments, it feels out of place. You see they just tossed in there because of agenda. No gamer would care about these discussions if handled properly! Go learn from BORDERLANDS 3 how to make amazing diverse characters.

    Don't buy this game.

Cons: Story is crummy and feels out of place in the world of the game. Very much feels like a poor sequel after the intensity of the first game. So much so that it ruins the game somewhat. Engaging the enemies feels repetitve toward the later sections of the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have just finished the game a few hours ago and I want now to explain the reason I give TLOU2 this mark. As me, many people are here giving reasonable reviews (not all people). I feel pleasant but at the same time a little bit frustrated. When you play the video game, you feel it is like a drug, because you cannot stop playing it. Game play is amazing, graphics are incredible and video game's duration is unbelievable. So, what's the problem with this game? Story.
We have been waiting this video game for 7 years. I'm a fanatic of the first video game and its probably my favourite video game. I feel disappointed to see decisions they decided to do at this time, deciding to kill probably one of the most beloved characters of the games history. But that's not all, because they bring him to us with flashbacks that obviously don't treat him in a good way. REMEMBER THAT JOEL KILLED FIREFLIES TO PROTECT ELLIE BECAUSE HE LOVED HER! Was it too difficult to give us what we want for the game? I honestly say you they don't get their pretended message like they did with first game, or at least I don't understand it...
But that's not all, because they make us to play with the character that killed Joel during a long time in the game, trying to humanize her with different moments along her gameplay, and they didn't get their target, because I honestly feel during her gameplay she was the killer of Joel, feeling really disappointed every step I walk with Abby.
I don't want to talk about the final, because I think it's not necessary after reasons I give on this review. I only want to remark that I dislike a lot Joel's cruel death, and the way the told us all the game (the narrative), finishing review giving my actual marks:
    GAME PLAY 10/10
    GRAPHICS 10/10

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is the disappointment of the year.
The creators of this game must hate their own characters. All to push a narrative the voice actor for Abby wants.
I respect strong women and have no issue with who someone chooses to love or what sex they identify as. With that said, I do not understand why they try to make you like a character who murders a beloved character so much. If that is not bad enough the other character that you have also grown to love is portrayed as a murderous no concience having dog killer. Whilst the woman who murders your father figure brutally in front of you with a golf club with his brains still graphically attached to it is a dog lover. They do everything they can in this game to rip down the characters that you have grown to love. If you never played the last of us if you do not love the characters of Ellie and Joel the game is graphically amazing playability is good, fight scenes awesome, story garbage! complete aarbage all to push a narrative from the voice Actor that plays Abby. This game does not deserve anywhere close to 10 out of 10 rating it is not as good as the paid to critics are wanting to tell you there is absolutely no way this game deserves to be game of the year it doesn't deserve awards it doesn't deserve anything what it deserves is accolades for the graphics which are stupendous and if you like to brutally murder people this is the game for you. If you like to murder dogs this is the game for you. If you like to brutally torture people with Blunt objects with no choice to do otherwise this is the game for you. If you like to be depressed this is the game for you.. I played through this game twice just to see if I would like it better all I was was completely depressed and upset that they made every man in this game seem like a dufus or a murderer they made a young girl into a raging murderous lunatic with no conscience they made a little girl who we became to love broken and didn't even give her the ability to play guitar again by taking her 2 fingers she lost everything and still did not avenge her father figures killer. Neil druckman should be ashamed of himself. Naughty dog studios should fire the creator, re write this story and re release this game it is complete garbage as a story driven game.

Save your money and if you MUST play this title.. please guy it second hand. Naughty Dog needs to know that if you bend your fan base over and shove your personal ideology up someone's.. well you know.. there are consequences.

The games basically take our hero's.. hero's that only killed when they were attack as a means to survive.. and spent the game vilifying them both. Their premise.. violence begets violence, is the largest hypocritical lie / double standard of the game. "Violence begets violence.. but check out this new mechanic that allow you to kill people in all these cool ways!!!" I felt as if Naughty Dog joined a cult and decided to preach at me in a language that they didn't even **** understand.. and the game ended up completely lost as a result..

The world they introduced us to was beautiful but they managed to make me despise everyone in it. This game should have been the start of a new chapter.. equally as legendary as the first.. but what we got was a sequel as bad as "speed 2". Have seen it? There is a reason why : )

I guess it is good that the majority of the community canceled their pre-orders (record high cancellations of the LOU2 game for Sony).. but like an idiot.. I was hoping that people were complaining about nothing. I WAS WRONG. What a joke... wait.. no.. a joke is funny. This game isn't even shell of its former glory and it is all because some dumb ass decided to try to be are parents instead of a game company CEO. Neil needs to lose his jobs for this..

This does, however, make me appreciate the fact that they did such a good job on Red Dead Redemption 2..

I don’t think many people expected Joel to live. Troy Baker has stated on multiple occasions that he wanted him to die in the first one. No one thought he would die in such a senseless way though. It would’ve been much more meaningful if he had deserved it. The game would like you to think he did but in order for that to be true you have to disregard why he killed Abby’s father in the first place. Abby’s father wanted to cut open Ellie (killing her in the process) to find a cure. Putting aside the obvious reasons why it’s wrong to kill a 14 year old girl the first game tells you through notes that they’ve tried the same procedure on other people they thought were immune before but it didn’t work. This game conveniently throws all that out the window. Instead they would like you to believe the fireflies were good people and not the fanatic paramilitary organization they were in the first one. Not many people have pointed this out in their reviews so I felt I should touch on this specifically. In short there’s a lack of continuity. There’s a long list of other examples of this and other criticisms to be had with the plot but you can scroll down for those. That being said graphics are gorgeous, gameplay in general is improved. Upgrading is better, silencers, melee combat, animations, and the music is nice too. Accessibility controls are a nice touch too but they’re not that groundbreaking.

I would recommend you play the first one. Skip this one or wait until it’s marked down by half or even lower. Definitely not worth the 60 dollar pricetag

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Beautiful game! Naughty Dog did a great work on the second part of the last of us. I played the first part and I really enjoyed it to go on zombie and bad guy hunt and adventure with Joel and Ellie. The first game was truly a master peace. The second game part II also did a great job. I really hated Abby for killing my favorite or one of my favorite character but the story needed this for Ellie to evolve her character and question herself. I think that really everybody thought the last thing they wanted to do is play with Abby and i hated her so much that i let her die a few times mode just for the satisfaction. But as the story continues i began more and more to understand her. To understand why she killed Joel. She herself isn't the pure evil and Ellie isn't the true good side either. But we love Ellie. She is one of the 2 characters we met and we fell in love with as we fell in love with the first part. I can understand people who dont like the second part but I really really love it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is far from a 10. Just finished it. I'm a graphics whore so I loved the global illumination technique used. It made a present gen game look almost new gen. Almost, because there were clear limitations shown by the aging hardware. Those limitations alone make it not a 10. You can't just go throwing 10's at games when there are clear flaws. There is no such thing as a perfect game and therefore no one should be slapping perfect scores on any game, ever.

It's one of the best looking games ever made but it still had LOTS of geometry, texture and shadow LOD issues, various glitches, some PS2 quality textures in places not off the beaten path, some places where the baked GI was clearly not present, some frame rate issues on the Pro, a few 'zbuffer' issues, etc.. I've recorded short vids of a lot of this stuff, and a few screenies. The animation was amazing, loved their new animation system and hope that other devs catch onto it. I went to play Spiderman shortly after beating the game and the animation in that game now looks so flawed to me in comparison. ND has the best artists.

The story… Too many contrived elements. I didn't have a problem with most of the story but treating some of the characters the way they did was unnecessary. This is a video game, therefore it isn't going to win any academy awards. Some sjw stuff was just unnecessarily shoved in my face which I didn't appreciate. The mushy, kissy kissy, lovey dove stuff went too far between E and D, like it was only there for the sake of pushing an agenda. If I had only seen it 2 or 3 times I wouldn't have thought anything of it. But then there were also the hairy armpits.. really? And not just once... Don't push that stuff in my face in a video game. It was almost as if someone high up on the team had a certain fetish.. If you want to argue realism, then you can certainly argue that Abby was a complete caricature because there is no way she could have looked like that without roids, and that isn't at all realistic in a post apocalyptic world. But it's there. So Abby had access to roids, but didn't have access to a razor? Can't argue that she's a dike because she isn't. Dina's a dike so I let that one go. If you look at young Abby she was not a bulky or stocky girl. She couldn't have obtained that look without roids. The look she had after the encounter with Ellie and Tommy, sure, that's possible.

None of the characters in this game really stood out or were likeable. I just wanted Ellie and Dina both to get murdered somehow pretty early on. Crap characters, forced and way over done romance elements. I was so burnt out on this game by the time I finished Ellie's story, then I had sooooo much more to go than I realized. This game was way, way too long for the type of game it is. It just wasn't fun anymore after a certain point and I was just anxious to get it over with, staying up late trying to force it sooner rather than later. That's never a good sign of a decent game. Overall I'd give this game a 6/10. It isn't nearly as good as the first one and I'm so burnt out on it that I don't even want to go back to the first game to finish a new playthrough I started a few weeks ago. This game should have been split up into two games. Even then, they would both have been quite long if you explored and collected. I don't even think I'd want to see a third one.

ND is much better at making Uncharted games. I'm now convinced that they just got really lucky with the first game and things just fell into place. Use this great engine and even better GI and visuals for a new Uncharted game. Heck, Nate can even bring his daughter as a sidekick since Sony loves sidekicks so much. Or give us an earlier story that we've never been told, maybe between UC2 and 3, or 3 and 4.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It came to break paradigms in the world of games. Okay, no one expected the game to take the proportion it did, but in the end it was amazing!! The reason they killed joel in that way was just for you to FEEL like ellie. Since the purpose of the game is to FEEL what Ellie felt. If it weren't for that, the game would fail in its proposal. TLOU is not just about Joel. it's about joel and ellie, 2 had more Joel than you think. We can see that he changed and lived the rest of his life in peace. A great tribute. In that world any person would die. What did you expect? a happy ending in a **** up world? did you want an honorable death? there is no villain or hero in this game. That would be a cliché. If you agree with Ellie's revenge then you also have to agree with Abby's revenge, after all it's the same feeling. But it's about consequences of revenge and understanding that the dark mind of the human mind can be a one-way trip. Flawless script, perfect soundtrack, ambiance, graphics. This hate is totally unfounded and childish to not understand the message that the game wanted to show, congratulations played wrong. Really was ND's most ambitious project, such a masterpiece! Absolute masterpiece! The attention to detail, and deep character development was unimaginably great! Real life is full of pain, sadness and heart break... but also love, excitement, and new beginnings. This game capitalizes on all of it. 10/10 Would play it thrice times.

Gameplay is obviously god-tier. The story though, at least to me, was perfectly complex, and the ending was completely justified. Aside from some pacing issues, I can't stop thinking about it. I feel emotionally drained, mentally exhausted, yet... renewed? If that makes sense?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's a master piece, hands down. I loved the first part, the second one rounds it up. So u say there is not enough backgroundstory to Abby? Excuse me it is enough to see why she acts the way she acts. Ellie and her revenge is kinda way the same. Only that Ellie is also the puzzlepiece to a cure, what makes her revenge "less" understandable. Especially when u see how she reacts to the truth Joel hided from her. Abby is just out wanting Ellie dead because Joel killed her father and Ellie killed her friends. So the Ending makes sense and fits in the traumata these two women have and their character-developement.

The Gameplay, Graphic and atmosphere is outstanding. It felt like a wonderful movie with interactions to get more and more into this world. The Last Of Us 1 was something special. But Part 2 is more a developement to the first Part, if u're focused to the details of the story and just tryin to get in the head of the main characters and their behaviour. Yes also in Abbys!

I dont accept the crunchtime-politics Naughty Dog is doing. But after all the **** u have to pay tribute and honor the hard work their employees have done over the last years. Cheerio!

I think this game makes stronger the connection between Ellie and Joel,Yeah Joel might be dead at the beginning . But as the developers said ; this game is about Joel and Ellie's relationships,I just say wow , FİRST EVER GAME that made me cry that much .
Gameplay wise ; Most realistic and fun gameplay so far .Melee combat is the best . Ranged combat is awesome. Areas are bigger than ever , live than ever.
Other stuff ; that visuals are the best so far for hundred percent , musics are better, i don't have enough words to describe how this game is more than awesome, more than masterpiece..The game always surprises you too.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Before I start this review, I want to say that I did not look at the leaks. I went in without any prior knowledge of the story. I really wanted to like this game as I loved The last of us Remastered on the PS4 but I couldn’t deny that the characters and story narrative was poorly executed in the Last of us Part 2.

First the good aspects of the game, the gameplay is more of the first game but with new characters, weapons and abilities. I found exploring the city of Seattle fun and exciting. The level design is very well thought out throughout the game and the environments are stunning and unique. I cannot fault the character models as they look movie like. The enemy AI is quite smart as they will flank you often and based upon your current supplies and weapons you can change how you approach a situation for example you could use a brick or bottle to lure zombies to other enemies. The game encourages stealthy gameplay as using weapons will diminish your limited resources. I like this as it helps to build the idea of a post-apocalyptic world where supplies are diminished and humanity it on its last legs. I personally only ran into one bug while playing the game where Ellie clipped through the ground inside a river.

Where the game falls short is in the narrative. I think that Joel’s death could have been set up better. In addition to this, the story gets worse after his death. It devolves into a revenge story where the end will leave you disappointed. The pacing feels off as there is flashbacks within flashbacks I got confused some way into the story. Now the characters which have been a source of controversy I would like to first say that I have no issue with more diverse representation in video games as long as it fits the narrative of the game world and if the characters are built up. An example of this is Abby’s physical build, which feels off in the context of the story, as it is not shown how she develops this build aside from a gym in the game that we never see her in. A lot of the characters feel shoehorned in and very plastic and not memorable. I feel that there should have been more character development especially with Ellie and Dina’s relationship and Owens and Abby’s relationship as it feels forced and awkward.

You spend the second half of the game playing as Abbie who is the main antagonist throughout Ellie’s story. The game tries to make you sympathise with her character and fails. I cared more about Ellie’s story and I wanted to play as her. Another character that does not make sense is Mel she is pregnant, but she gets involved in combat throughout the game where she should be at base as the survival of humanity is very important in this world.

Overall, the gameplay is fun, rewarding and tense in places but the game falls short on the poor narrative and characters.

The strongest point of this game is the history, and to get inside the game and understand the history and feel it, you need to understand and love the characters first. I will say this game is much more enjoyable if you play the first one before.

I don't care what anyone says, whether i agree with the choices of the characters or not if a story can illicit such a powerful emotional response from me then i don't consider it bad storytelling. IMO was 100% a masterpiece in that regard. after finishing i tried to start new game+ a week later and couldn't get through the prologue without breaking down into tears again.
and while I agree that it should have been a choice at the end, player choice was never apart of TLoU or even the uncharted games (haven't finished 4 so correct me if I'm wrong) so i understand why it wasn't an option in a ND game. Really don't understand the hate this games getting other than the people who are hating on it either haven't finished it or went in with their minds already made before even starting. just my two cents, absolutely loved it and will try to platinum on survivor+ when I can get through it without feeling torn apart.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Enjoyed every single second from start to finish. Every single thing the developers set out to do with the story affected me in the way they had intended. Joel deserves the fate he was given, he was never a good guy. He had murdered and killed innocent people in the past and finally paid the price for his wrongdoings. I disliked playing as Abby at first, but once her reasonings were explained, I started to empathise with her, and by the ending I didn’t know who I wanted to die, I was probably leaning towards Abby killing Ellie, actually. I enjoyed the ending despite popular opinion. Ellie deserved to be alone after all the pain she caused everyone, seeking needless revenge for an act that was justified 10x over. even after murdering all of abbys friends, she still wasn’t satisfied. The last shot of her being unable to play guitar and realising that her last bit of connection with Joel was severed was heartbreaking and a good way to show her realising that seeking revenge caused her to lose everything. We don’t need a happy feel good ending all the time, and it seems like too many people struggle with empathy and things not turning out the way that they’d like. Phenomenal job in every single aspect of video game creation. I can’t stand scary games, but I couldn’t put this down because I was so obsessed. Music was incredible, combat was brutal, smooth and enjoyable. The graphics are the best I’ve ever seen and the attention to detail is unmatched. For anyone to give this anything under an 7 after experiencing the gameplay even with their moaning about the story is laughable. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved everything about the original Last Of Us. So it makes me really sad to say that Part II was a big disappointment.

The story is a waste of potential and a pretentious yet incompetent mess. Ellie and Joel are great characters and their relationship was the soul of the series. There were a lot of interesting places that relationship could have gone. Instead, it is all discarded in return for a revenge plot, when Joel is killed at the start of the game. The trade is not at all worth it, as the resulting story is both uninteresting and ludicrous.

I'd like to make a brief aside here to mention that the developer released a trailer in which Joel effectively tells Ellie that he will be accompanying her through the game. This turned out to be a fake scene; in the actual game, there's another character in Joel's place. This was essentially an attempt to deceive the customer, and I don't think it's acceptable.

A significant amount of time is also spent playing as Joel's killer, Abbie, in a ham-fisted attempt to tell a story about empathy. While such a story may have worked in a medium such as film, in the medium of video games, in which the player is an active participant, it is totally broken; the player is eventually forced to try to kill Ellie, which obviously they don't actually want to do, and then a few hours later we're forced to try to kill Abbie, as if we've also suddenly forgotten the chunk of the game getting to know her. It actively disengages the player. Aside from these major structural flaws, the new characters are generally pretty dull, and the incidental story -- a city's draconian government is overthrown by the populace, who descend into tribal warfare -- is just a stale rehash of the first game.

I really enjoyed the gameplay of the original. This sequel is very similar, with a handful of new additions -- in particular, more involved melee, a few new weapons and a few new enemies. The combat is still solid and there are some great set pieces. But this is a long game, and there is just not enough innovation or variation here; I was surprised to find myself becoming bored long before the game ended. The scavenging in particular starts to feel like a real chore, and actually an encumbrance upon the act of getting from A to B, which is the majority of the gameplay. Environmental puzzles would have really helped, and the ones that are in the game are satisfying, but they are few and far between.

On a technical level the visuals are excellent. However, the vast bulk of the game is spent in the city of Seattle. This means there just isn't the scope to keep the game visually creative. It's also too similar in locations to the original game. Schools, hospitals, hotels, city streets and the suburbs... we've seen most of it before. The animation it must be said is best in class, although not quite the technical marvel shown in the 2018 trailer. And a special mention has to be made of the nice detail of enemies calling each other by name, which really adds a layer of believability.

Finally, the musical score, which was so strong in the first game, is also a surprising let down; in fact it is barely present.

Overall, I had a really mixed experience played this game. On the whole I can't really say that I enjoyed it. The developers might argue that that's not the point. I disagree. I'm not talking of enjoyment in the simplistic sense of having "fun". A tragedy, well-crafted, is still "enjoyable" in the deeper sense of the word. I don't think this game was well-crafted. I think it made a number of serious errors which led to it falling far short of its potential, and probably killing off my interest in the future of this series.

Gameplay is good because it is tremendously similar to the first game, in this aspect, the innovation has been quite poor, there are some new mechanics like that of crawling on the ground, but the confrontations are still quite repetitive. There are very few new enemies except the new acid zombies that are basically the same as in the first game but with another name and the enemies with dogs. Crafting materials are the same and, again, the items you make are the same as in part one (except for a small innovation such as the silencers for the 9mm), you even keep taking the same bricks and bottles to make noise.
Let's go with the plot, one of the most important parts of the naughty dogs games. in my opinion this revenge story is pretty lazy. They wanted history to face a lot of problems in today's society such as homosexuality or sexism, but it does it very badly and messing it up with a shoehorn. Not because the 2 protagonists of the game are women, one of them a lesbian and the other a supergirl, but because they do not naturalize it, they make stupid references to it, all very forced. ignoring these sections, the story does not improve, in the end, it gives you the feeling that everything you've been through has been for nothing. I do not intend to make spoilers but it is not necessary, everything is very predictable. personally I would have opted for a new adventure of joel, tommy and ellie and I would not have incorporated these bad guys who in the end are not so bad.
There are specific situations that I still don't understand, such as why Abby decides to betray her faction, which she owes a lot for helping two people she doesn't know about. again, the game tries to show you that abby isn't really that bad, but really? helping 2 strangers to the point of risking your life? Is this how you decide to show it to me?
without a doubt the worst part of the game is the final, it doesn't even seem like it was planned. It seems that they introduced it to extend the game. seriously, the game could have ended in the theater with an epic final fight.
Regarding the technical section, without a doubt, the best of the game, it is impressive, it really is incredible that it looks like this on a ps4. Probably the best game graphically speaking of the console generation.
