You may not like the story, but no one can deny this game is one of the PS4 most beautiful looking game, great sound effects, great level design, voice acting and animations.
For me it was very satisfying seeing story that is not the old and tired good guys vs bad guys most games have nowadays.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I hated this game, at first. I still hate it, but only because it's a sequel to the first. I've come to be at peace with the idea that Ellie only came to forgive Joel after doing to others for revenge what Joel did to save her, allowing her to see the error of their ways and to understand how he felt making the decision that he did. I do think this is a good story in that regard, and that this was how a sequel would have had to go, even if it's not the best execution in my opinion. However, the whole thing that made the ending of the first special to me was the inner conflict that you felt knowing that you had done what was undeniably the wrong thing, yet you felt that you could justify it to yourself because the game had developed the relationship between Joel and Ellie so well that you could not help but be happy that they were together. It left a bittersweet feeling in your soul, and Joel's promise to Ellie made you feel a guilt that made it a beautiful ending, not quite a happy one. This game actively destroys that ending by making you wish that Joel had left Ellie to die, so that she wouldn't suffer like she did in part 2.

I do think they are both amazing stories, but my issues lay with the fact that what makes the second game great is in conflict with what made the first game great, and to me the first one will always be the better half. Part 2 is simply a miserable experience that destroys everything great about the first game, in the name of an admittedly powerful and emotional story. It's just not a sacrifice I think should have been made.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There's a lot to say about this game… From the graphics to the environment, characters, actors, gameplay and of course the "controversial" story.
I'll start with the graphics: This game is absolutely one of the best looking games generally speaking, be it on the PS4 or PS4 Pro, the game LOOKS GOOD and there's no denying it. Even on a vanilla PS4 or a PS4 slim, the game runs smoothly and beautifully.
The environment is alive, much more than the first game due to the fact that the levels are almost completely open and traversal friendly thanks to the game's new improved gameplay mechanics like jumping, proning and getting between small cracks. There are letters and notes scattered around the levels with deep and sometimes extremely depressing world building content in them that are worth reading. The hunt for materials and “bolts” (even on the Normal difficulty dubbed “Moderate”), is fun and there’s much to discover.
The characters are problematic to say the least.
Ellie is cold (although understandable) and brooding and just unlikable unlike in the first game. The only times when she feels like "Ellie" is when the flashbacks happen and those are the best of her. It is of course important to note that she is more mature and of course more vengeful than ever but it doesn't excuse the fact that I just care about her much less than I did in the first game.
The romance and relationship between Dina and Ellie, while still cute left me with a bad taste in my mouth, and I felt like there was more to be explored between them and yet nothing came to fruition. They're relationship was subpar at best and incredibly boring and tedious at worst. Their interactions with one another felt stale almost if the only reason for their relationship is to be some sort of a "romantic" relief.
Abby is a whole other story. On one hand I can 100% appreciate and respect the fact the Neil Druckmann decided to let us see the other side of the coin, not only the evil woman who killed Joel, but a person trying to move on (so to speak), from her past that’s haunting her (shown in PTSD flashbacks and nightmares) and her ability to love and care for other but her story is still another revenge story for a very revenge driven game. On the other, I just don't care about her. Not because she killed Joel, but because I just don't. She's boring, evil, wretched and nothing good comes out of her. Although you have to love the fact she tries with Lev to become better and improve, I just don't understand why I have to play close to 10 hours as her. Again, I respect it, but I don't like it.
While Joel isn’t as presence (for obvious reasons), he still is the focal point for Ellie’s revenge plot on Abby. He’s a side character but for what it’s worth, he’s the one with the most amount of depth.
Now the story.... It's not THAT bad.
I feel that a lot of negative reviews given to the game were given by people who either hadn't finished the game, hadn't played it or just wanted to ride the wave of hate. The story is not THAT bad!
    Was is falsely advertised? Maybe.
Was it long and depressing? Absolutely.
    Was the ending satisfying? 50/50
While I want to talk about the story more I really feel like the story should be experienced individually. It's a long journey but I personally believe that it's one worth taking.

The gameplay is superb. Nothing to say more. While Druckmann said that "the game isn't supposed to be fun" it's one of the funner games I've played in a while. The progression system, weapons, stealth and the difference in gameplay between Abby and Ellie, everything is well made in the best way possible. The gameplay is a true sight to behold (and play!).

And lastly, the actors. Every single one of the main characters (Love them or hate them), are played in the best way possible. Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson and Laura Bailey are the best choices that Naughty Dog could have made for these roles. They were incredible and worth experiencing the game just for the way they portray their characters.

Final note: Take every review with a grain of salt. Experience the game for yourself. You'd be surprised.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Finished the game and honestly felt disappointed. The best part of the game was the flashbacks, and the open area section in the beginning with Ellie. I enjoyed the dialogue and it reminded me of the first game. I hated Abby and did not care for her story in the slightest. Didn’t feel sympathetic towards her or her bland friends(looking at you Owen) and it was a 10 hour section I just wanted to be over to get back to Ellie. I think it would’ve been a better story if Ellie met Lev somehow and discovered he was being hunted because he got bit by an infected but turns out to be immune. Abby discovers it when Lev and Yara saved her and goes to get Lev to somehow get the cure again which Ellie didn’t provide. Ellie bonds with Lev and Yara and replace her in all of Abby’s sections. Abby will continue to hunt down Lev with friends forcing Ellie to kill everyone just like Joel did and Ellie will find meaning in why Joel did what he did and forgive him. And you get to kill Abby! I think the games story could’ve been done better as it didn’t hit the emotional beats at all and felt awkward and clunky at times. Music was good but felt lacking somehow. I honestly don’t think game has good iconic moments like Tess dying or Bill discovering his partner died or Henry killing Sam. It had moments like Abby discovering her friends died or Ellie seeing Jesse died or Joel being beaten to death which made no sense for his character for trusting them. All the moments are just shock value with no emotional weight behind it. There wasn’t a point to the plot or a good resolution towards it. WE GET IT REVENGE IS BAD. You’ll lose everything if you get revenge. Then why did Ellie lose everything and Abby gets to have something for killing Joel. Ellie lost her fingers, Dina, JJ, the baby, Jesse, relationship with Tommy is ruined, and can’t have a resolution with Joel and doesn’t get to kill Abby while ABBY A CHARACTER WE HATE, gets to live, gets to save Lev and gets to go back to the fireflies. How could you do this to Ellie a beloved character. This was suppose to be her story. I felt so disappointed in the ending and felt like the story should’ve gone in so many other possible directions. Give the players choices or at least don’t alienate them or make them play as a character they will automatically hate. Story writers need to stop subverting expectation for the sake of subverting expectation. You only do that if it fits the narrative and flows well otherwise you’ll get a crappy story like The Last Jedi, Game of Thrones season 8, and The Last of Us Pt II. Expand

Now the story.. well , it was emotional , I felt pain of 2 main characters. I can't figure out which one was the antagonist or both were protagonist. Joel's death hit me hard. The path of revenge well that was surely painfull . Abby's story did make me a little angry at times .. specially at the end at the theatre. But later on I guess seeing her at the true end .. I kind of understand why Ellie didn't do it. Their was many endings to be honest. The true end was a little unsettling but kinda saw it coming. Conclusion is .. it was a masterpiece with flaws Expand

It still hurts that Joel died, and how it die, but thats the last of us world, a world where no one dies in a heroic way, its dark, its mean, and I love playing in that world.

If some day I would have the chance to meet Neil Druckman, I would thank him, not for giving me what I want, for giving me the best game I could ever play.

Sometimes, I open the game just to play again the epilogue, to watch that emotional scene where joel and ellie have their last night conversation.

And finally, the graphics and gameolay are awsome, but the music, Oh man the music is fantastic, the music in this game is perfect, it makes you feel every second on the game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 7 long years, a couple insane months, yet I held hope. I thought hard and realized that I need to give this game a chance. I do believe that the graphics of this game were mesmerizing, even the most simple animations and lighting were very impressive, the dodge button was also a delight about 1/3 of the time. The gameplay besides that is SO BAD. The first time Ellie jumped, I was astonished. Like, how can Ellie overpower grown men but can only hop like 2 inches, who knows. Everything else is basically exactly the same. The gameplay areas are a little more fluid but the gun play is embarrassing, slowing everything down in the process. The characters were so boring that I didn’t even remember half of their names. THEN THEY REMOVE THE PUZZLES (they should have done the opposite and made them more challenging. Maybe take advantage of that hilarious rope LMFAO so impressed). Joel dying is all good and well, but really, wtf? Need I say more regarding him? No, everyone agrees. Playing as a new character that I don’t care about, okay I’ll do that I guess, but SHE NEVER DIES like dude what. Everything was for nothing, now there is going to be the last of us 3 and it will be embarrassing. All and all the good was overshadowed by the constant feelings of either anger or boredom, oh ya did I mention the game is insanely boring? Should have been a 10-15 hour game which is disgusting. Also at no point did I dislike this game due to the SJW agenda, I don’t care, it doesn’t bother me but what does bother me is journalists saying that is why people dislike the game. It isn’t, that is probably 5% of people who hate it. I only hope DLC comes out so NOBODY buys it. How many people buy the DLC will be the deciding factor on how the community actually feels about this game. Sorry not sorry. Wasted time, wasted money, hopefully I can return this junk of garbage somehow. Expand

It's pretty simple--the game is excessively well thought out and is excellent. People who are bombing it either have a bigoted side, or cannot handle having to digest something that isn't what they wanted. Neil crafts a story that forces you to look at this world through several perspectives, and many would rather have a heroic gore fest. This game is very timely in the face of that.

I would also like to point out that this is a legit review and my honest opinion. I'm a huge fan of the first game. Some people are giving this game a bad review because they think it is overly politic - that is complete BS. The game has no politic agenda at all. If you somehow have a problem with that the game contains characters like muscular women or LGBTQ people that exist in our society - you seriously need to change your backwards mentality.

My problem with the game (and many others as well) is not political, it's the storytelling and character development. Early in the game, an event happens that forces Ellie to go to Seattle on a quest for revenge. The plot is nothing spectacular per se, but it could’ve still been interesting for character development nonetheless. Following Ellie on her quest for revenge is in the beginning mostly enjoyable, but eventually leads to a point where you no longer can understand her actions and even start questioning how they make sense. About halfway through the game, there is a sudden change of perspective, essentially one big side mission that is there to provide the player a better understanding of the context and the characters that have been introduced with the sequel. One of the primary reasons for this sequence is to let players develop empathy for some of the main characters that this new story involves. This simply does not work. At all. At this point in the story, most of these characters have so far been completely despicable without showing any redeeming qualities, and there is little interest nor motivation to see any of the reasons that lie behind this behavior. The explanations we are given fail to justify the actions and the way these explanations are delivered is just so poor and unsatisfying that it came to a point where I no longer wanted to finish it. There are even moments during this part where I put down the controller because I didn’t want to push the button prompts and see what happened next. Hoping it would pay off in the end, I kept playing, but I never got to a point where I felt compassion or truly understood the actions that were made by some characters. The story desperately tries to create empathy for them, but the reasons behind their actions and the “redemption arcs” they go through just leave zero impact on you when you already know what they’ve done. Maybe it would’ve been more impactful if they instead had focused on introducing the backstory of characters before certain important events took place. But I think it essentially boils down to the small amount of backstory we get, and how this small amount is somehow supposed to justify their questionable decisions. While many of Ellie’s decisions definitely are questionable as well, I still can’t help but feel compassion for her. After all, I grew up with her in the first game. The new characters haven’t had this development, and from the start they leave me feeling disconnected. While there are some interesting moments during this later half of the game, for the most part it is just a drag that you want to get through as fast as possible to see if it will pay off. Unfortunately it never does, as the ending at least for me was incredibly unsatisfactory.

Overall, the game has you for the most part either feeling miserable or angry. It is extremely violent, to the point that it just becomes unnecessary and too much. While there are a few moments that are truly uplifting, they are indeed few. In the beginning I actually felt emotionally moved by many of the events that occurred in the game. But it came to a point where I just stopped caring and even started laughing. While a story of constant misery does seem plausible in a post-apocalyptic world, it also inevitably leaves you feeling void and dissatisfied. This is something that the first game managed to deal with so well – there were both moments of tears but also moments of joy and more importantly, hope. This game extinguished any hope that was created from the first one, and leaves you with only hopelessness.

Lastly, I will mention that the game really succeeds at creating an atmosphere of a post-apocalyptic world. Environments are absolutely stunning and the soundtrack is beautiful. It is easily one of the most visually impressive games out there today. Gameplay is very similar to the first one, it has a few minor improvements but is far from innovative. At least to me, the gameplay was never the biggest strength of this series, the storytelling was. But the story in this game is a letdown and completely butchers everything that I fell in love with in the first game while immensely failing at introducing and explaining any of the new characters. All in all, if you loved the first game – I’m sad to say you’re probably better off just pretending this game never existed.

The story was a contrived mess. Spent most of the time trying to make the gamer like the most unlikable character since Micah Bell. Only this time Micah Bell walks away Scott free. The only thing this game had going for it was the graphics. Absolutely destroyed Ellie’s character for Abbys. What a mess. Expand

I really hated playing as Abby, not only did she kill the franchise's most beloved characters in a cold-blooded way but she has poor character development and is genuinely flawed with no redeeming qualities. In the first game, most of the characters were flawed too, such as; Tess, Joel, the fireflies, but they were pushed by a strong narrative that built a strong foundation for these characters which is why we love them. Even though Tess wasn't really explored in the first game, I still remember her and have become attached to her character because of how the story portrayed her to be, a no-nonsense person who does whatever she can to get the job done. The fireflies were an anarchist group that trued doing things their way because they felt that the government has oppressed them so they rebelled and even tried to do their own research of the fungus. But for Abby, she seems to just go to the side to whichever is more convenient for her. She's a character with no foundation except for her dead father. After she switches sides to help Yara and Lev, which in my opinion were the best and most fleshed-out characters of the game, she proceeds to lie and manipulate her closest friends, cheat with her ex and kill her close WLF friends because they were in her way. the game tries so hard to sympathize with Abby and even after playing her for half the game, I still do not sympathize with her and want her dead in the story. The narrative of the story tells how bad revenge is but, in the end, Ellie lost everything because she went for revenge and she didn't even get it, its so sad to see her being treated her like that.
Too many characters were introduced with a poor narrative that I don't even remember the names of the people that died because of how little they mattered to the story. After these main characters die most of them don't even get mentioned, it's like they never existed.
I hope you guys tell a much better story in your future games. This was a complete letdown.

A good and well-told story, with well-developed characters and a different point of view, is not a game of hero or villain, they are just survivors. I never felt things like I did playing the last of us part 2, fear, anger, guilt, sadness. One of the best games on ps4.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Here we are ! I just finished the game. At the time I would definitely put a 3 but after thinking about it I put a 7. Graphically, nothing to say Naughty Dog is still doing his bit and the level design is there! The soundtracks stick enormously to the story telling and they put us extremely well in the atmosphere of the game. However, that is not enough to make a good game. We play a The Last Of Us for its scenario and the emotions that the game will make us feel through its characters, the attachment that we have and will have for them and twists to come. Like many players, I was shocked and terribly annoyed by the death of Joel. This brutal death which seems so .. "null" for the emblematic character of the license. This death was caused to shock the player, to put him in the same state as Ellie. Neil Druckman was wanted to create a feeling of revenge, disgust, envy of murders and especially the wish that Abby dies at the hands of Ellie. I myself wanted to uninstall the game after this scene; The disappearance of this emblematic duo to which we were all attached disappeared after an hour of play. We thus leave in the quest for revenge of Ellie followed by Dina his lover. The character of Ellie will change over time and this quest for revenge. As we go, we will realize that Ellie loses her human side and destroys everything in its path. So she kills Abby's friends to find her. We play Abby's character for almost a good half of the game. We learn more about its history and past. What's the point ? To try to justify the death of Joel, however we had understood his motivations and that could have been summed up much faster instead of making us play a character who all wished death. This part of the game is boring to me.

The game tries to make us empathetic towards Abby, however for my part it did not work especially on the spot ^^

After Ellie is beaten by Abby and she had to give up her revenge we now see her living a good life accompanied by Dina and "their" baby JJ. Having given up on this quest, Ellie is happy despite the fact that she is still haunted by the death of her adoptive father, Joel. That's when Tommy reappears to everyone's happiness and puts Ellie back on track. She cannot give up her revenge and she abandons her family and her farm to set off again in search of Abby. Great twist having amazed me enormously! Ellie then finds Abby almost dead and exhausted from the torture she suffered. It was then that a hand-to-hand fight broke out between the two women. Close to drowning Abby, Ellie finally gave up killing her. Personally when Ellie drowns Abby, her gaze broke my heart. Ellie had lost her humanity and only been overcome by her desire for revenge. I was pleasantly surprised that she didn't kill Abby. Neil Druckman wanted to restore the little humanity that remained in Ellie at this moment. Like us, Ellie understood then that all that led to nothing, killing the one who killed Joel will not bring him back to life, she will never be able to see him again. Unlike her, Abby had only killed the person directly responsible for the murder of her father. Ellie had killed Abby's friends even though they were not directly responsible.

When Ellie returns to her house, she discovers her empty house, without Dina. We understand then that she lost everything by wanting revenge. This end is heartbreaking, I for my part cry for long minutes. The final Flashback with Joel shows us that the day before her death, she told him that she could not forgive him but that she would try. Joel therefore died without knowing if she had forgiven him. It is horrible and heartbreaking. The moral that Neil wanted to transmit to us in this work is that revenge leads to nothing, responding to hatred with hatred will not solve the problems and will only make things worse. Definitely a wink compared to the current situation in the world.

To conclude, I think The Last Of Us Part 2 remains a beautiful work all the same. The scenario is far from high-flying but the story being told well and the emotions well felt it gives us a game that remains appreciable. Joel's death remains questionable in my opinion, and some scenes are too. But it is a dramatic story that we have there and that touched me personally. I don't know if there will be a sequel, but it's a possibility even if I'm not sure how it could bounce on it. In any case, the title of the game takes on its full meaning at the end. Ellie will remain the only survivor, and she will have lost everything as she said in 1 "All the people I love and who stays with me end up abandoning me or dying" The circle is complete.

It is a very different opus from 1 and I understand the community's dissatisfaction with the script. But you have to know how to open your mind and how to embark on the story that we are being offered in order to be able to fully enjoy the work that is on offer!

Thank you for reading. Its not very structured and i'm sorry for that ^^ Bye !

If i have to compare the writing of the first game to this it would go from brilliant to braindead. Characters do things that don't make sense making dumb irritating decisions.
The character Abby (the **** that kills Joel) that we suppose to give a **** about is developed very poorly and in result the fact that we have to play as her makes it very painful for the player in a narrative standpoint.
I feel shame for all those hard working Naughty Dog employees that had to put up with Druckman's sjw bull**** propaganda. The game thanks to their hard efforts looks beautiful making it the best looking game on the PS4, the sound design also excellent.
If the game had a decent and competent story like the first one i would probably love it.

Ignore the plot and play it just from a gameplay perspective and it's actually pretty good.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I Need get this off my chest for the people simping for Abby and showing remorse for her i just want to let you know, Joel wasnt the perfect person and yes he did what he did but it was for survival he didnt ask for it but he had no choice you cant just blatantly say Joel deserved to die, he fought many foes along the way to look for a cure and when it was finally the chance to find a cure he choose not to because it would have killed Ellie in the procces but you do need to take in consider that he has lost his daughter on his hands and probabily blamed himself for the cause and as soon as he found Ellie it was like he found his daughter back and he didnt wanted loose her again so he choose to sacrifice the cure to save Ellie's life, yes it was quite selfish of him doing that but you cant blame him after all the hard times he his been through, he lived his whole as a survivor not a saint because thats the harsh reality of this apoliptic world that we live in and in order to survive we need to have a strong mindset and show no remorse for the people who want to cause harm to you and the people who you care about, people like me are upset because the way he was killed it stupid, the guy he could tell an ambush from miles away, Went to some random strangers base and said "Hello my name is Joel i may have killed thousands of people who have been one your family member but i really just cant help myself not telling my name to you all lovely people" like thats not his character. Now back to Abby she killed her own teamates (unlike Joel who cares about his allies and family) and probabily done more questionable things than Joel, She needed to acknowledge that revenge was a bad idea in the first place and accept the death of her farther because sooner or later this was bound to happen to anyone living in this world but you killing the person who killed your dad doesnt make you any better than that person, yes its hard to accept losing someone but her dad asked for it by pointing a gun at Joel you cant blame Joel for self protecting it just annoys how people want to protect characters that dont matter in the story anyway. Naughty Dog dont you get that the reason people liked TLOU is the bond between Ellie and Joel not Abby and her Dad no one cares just stop ruining my experience with this masterpiece of a game like you have seen how people reacted to Walking Dead so im asking you WHY DO THIS? WHY DID YOU WASTE OUR TIME HYPING US FOR THIS GAME FOR 7 FRICKING YEARS? i hope this game was just a troll not the original part 2 because if thats the case then Naughty Dog your standards have gone really down im very dissapointed Expand

The only reason I’m giving this a game a 4 and not a 0 because the gameplay is solid, the graphics are amazing, and the first half of the story was great. I know a lot people did not like what happened to Joel situation but to me he crossed a lot people and he had it coming. Which goes to my second point, the second half of the game forces you to play someone else to sympathize with this person and tries to justify her actions in the beginning of the game. But I didn’t need 10 freaking hours to explain to me what Joel did was wrong. In the end of the first game I knew Joel went too far and I could not side with him whatsoever. It was a waste of mine and everyone else’s time and could’ve been use for another plot. She could’ve grabbed some of our her group and had a war with Ellie’s group, anything would be a lot more interesting than playing her. One last thing, they really try to push this politically correct garbage into the game. The first game dlc did a great job exploring Ellie’s sexuality, friendship, and everything else.
This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Beautiful gameplay and graphics, and a pretty good story. The second character is the villain, and kills Joel. However, they go through a redemption story that paints them as very similar to Joel. They are both good people who have done terrible things for their own 'right' reasons. Ellie goes through the revenge cycle, and realizes it is hopeless and pointless. The reason this review is so low is exclusively for the ending. It isn't satisfying, as it horrifically punishes Ellie. Abby does equally terrible things as Ellie, but has no negative aftereffects. Ellie loses her family, fingers and all connections she had left with Joel. Yes, revenge is bad, and it shouldn't be sought to this extent. Abby does lose her friends, but gains new ones. Ellie doesn't gain anything at all from her journey, except pain and suffering. It's set up to hurt, showing Ellie as happy before, and then tearing it away. With a real ending, rather than one that only sought to subvert expectations and hurt a beloved character, This game could have been an 8 or 9. By simply Punishing Ellie as well as the player base, it deserves nothing higher than a 3. Expand

The Last of Us: Part II throws away one of its few protagonists (with proper character development) out the window in exchange for a new character that appears so out of place and rather pointless in the story overall. Also, it is important to mention that the new character brutally murders the beloved previous protagonist during a meaningless bout of poor writing. I am deeply saddened by the way this game came out, especially when taking my love for the first one (and the seven year wait) into consideration. Niel Druckmann, I sincerely hope that you are replaced as a director because you should never be able to create a video game or any form of media ever again. Expand

Simply the best. It was an emotionally challenging game that pushed the limits of what narrative video games do.

Signed up only for this: Gets a 0 especially for tricking people into believing this is a masterpiece and for false advertisements (exchanging models in trailers, cutting to make it look like Joel was in the majority of the game). Those are abhorrent practices and I fear for the industry if this is getting the norm.

The battle and narrative rhythm are chaotic. Poor narrative techniques and irrational stories make the performance of the whole game worse Expand

At first after finishing the game I honestly couldn’t say I liked it. I almost hated it. That was what was so interesting to me. Not the just the engaging and “fun” parts of revenge where you can feel awesome hacking at people on your road to what you believe is just. This is about all the parts of revenge. The ugliest parts. The depressing parts. We aren’t meant to feel good at the end of this game. We leave it feeling sobered. Anyone who had trouble playing this game, as did I, you are not wrong in feeling that way. This game is heavy. You are meant to have a hard time. But I am glad I finished it because it’s a game that will stick with me for a long time much like the first if not more than the first game. It’s meant to stick in your head and alter how you see things. This game was an experience. The first game felt like a journey where we were able to see Joel and Ellie. However, this game it was like I was Ellie. I was the one dealing the blows. I was the one having the traumatic feelings. I was the one right in her shoes. This game is meant to be played, not watched. You are meant to hold the controller. If you don’t, you are doing this game a great disservice for something that games this generation don’t do. It is thought provoking and it is sobering. Go in it with an open mind, leave all your expectations at the door because this shattered mine. Expand

One of the most emotionally draining games I've ever played. Right behind the first game. I managed to avoid all spoilers and therefore experienced the game as it was intended, the two but twists were shocking to me and initially I was angry and upset but by the end of the game my opinion had completely changed. It's a magnifying glass on senseless violence we do in video games and it actually makes you think that all these people we kill have families. If everyone sets a revenge course after losing a friend or loved one where does it end? What's the true cost? Naughty dog have produced another masterpiece.

I truly feel sorry for all the people who hated on this game because it's a gay character or a woman, they are missing the point entirely. This makes my top 5 video games of all time list.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
