The only reason I gave this game a 2 was because of the gameplay, the lack of glitches, graphics and environment.     I was blown away by this game in every aspect. The graphics, gameplay, attention to detail, all of it is superb. Not to mention the story is a nuanced, amazing experience that has you sitting there just THINKING for days on end, forcing you to look at everything you know from different perspectives and making this game a true narrative masterpiece.

    Beautiful gameplay! The WORST story and direction I’ve ever known in any game series! If the director still works for the company I hope it won’t be for much longer. I feel cheated and let down by this game it’s absolutely awful and I can’t say anymore without swearing.

    We must pay tribute - the graphics in this game are 10/10. But the storyline overshadows everything. What about your tolerance, I am sad to realize that Ally is a lesbian, but I could put up with that. But you have gone too far with all this (bar kiss scene) Very sad, it would be better if the second part did not exist

I have no problem with the voice actors, Abby, or even the agenda they pushed heavily onto our plates. I gave it a chance so I could at least say my peace. My problem is with the people who thought this game was the best they could possibly come up with. The graphics are stunning, the music is beautiful, and the story.... blows. Literally blows. How can you manipulate everyone who loved Joel dearly showing us you guys putting Joel in the main trailers and having the audacity to put him on the tin game case with Ellie for more false advertising. And then when you play the game they proceed to kill him off 2 hours into the game and Abby screaming at him “do you know who I am!?” I can’t believe you’re okay with this and think it’s a fantastic game. Neil druckmann ruined this game for everyone who painstakingly avoided trolls and spoilers for years and this is the best you can come up with?! I hope no one buys another game from naughty dog because you just lost everyone who stood by you since Jack n daxter like myself. I deleted the game once I finished and it left a bad taste in my mouth. To kill Joel, to spit on Joel, and to spit on us to play his killer for half the game. You should be ashamed for the false advertisement to the loyal fans that’s backed you through the years and the micro transactions in TLOU. I will never buy another game from naughty dog because you lied, once you lie you’ll just do it again with another game right? Maybe when Neil isn’t in the top seat I’ll give a view to your trailers and actually look through the leaks and spoilers when the time comes. The fact that I have waited seven years for the sequel and this is the trash Naughty Dog put out is horrible. Joel is one of the best video game characters ever and that is how it ends for him!!!! The story line is absolutely horrible. The jumping around, the fact you have to play as Abby. The fact Joel is KILLED off in the first hours of the game and you don't get to play as him. I could go on but I have already wasted enough of my life on this game.... Probably wont buy another Naughty Dog product. Speaking of Dogs, why do you kill some many in this game???? I still find it hard to believe how naughty dog managed to create such a horrible sequel to the game of the decade LOU2 is THE WORST game of 2020 and the worst ever created by naughty dog. The gameplay is very good but the fact there is more walking around and exploring than fighting made the game a bit boring. Having to play 10 HOURS with Abby was just a stupid way of forcing the players to like her and feel bad for her past (which is something I don’t care about one bit) . The story is very disappointing from joel’s death in the first few hours of the game to the horrible ending we got this game is ridiculously BAD. The only thing I liked was the variety of weapons and style of killing between Abby and Ellie. The only way naughty dog can fix this piece of trash game is by releasing last of us 3 but actually with more focus to the MAIN CHARACTER WHICH IS ELLIE.… Expand

    The fact that the critic reviews are strictly 100s while the user reviews are as you would expect... reminds me of Dave Chapelle's "Sticks and Stones" special.
    The story telling is very subpar. The game is a product of cultural marxism and it is sad to see what they have done with the game.

The game has the best graphics of 2020 however the game is story driven and the story was lackluster and undeveloped with Joel and Ellie acting out of character. The character arcs and development have been completely forgotten. The game’s ending is a cliche “ending the cycle of revenge” however it is not done well. Do watch angry joe, jacksepticeye and others reviews of the game and decide for yourself. It is also very clear an agenda is being pushed with the game, this becomes the main charactaristic of the characters such as lev and undermines the potential those characters could have had, I believe that they should not have pushed an agenda in the game especially the one they did push down our throats and rather focused on making memorable characters. Playing as Abby is just cheap and manipulative. You save kids, play with dogs, and kill weird cult people. Ellie kills dogs and pregnant women. Then the fact that naughty dog and Sony tried deceiving the gaming community with many stunning reviews compared to the Fact the entire fandom hates the game. Hot trash.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don't like to chime in on these things. I like hearing alternative perspectives to my own. But I do think there are many points to make here. So I couldn't help making them.

    Firstly, Abby doesn't show a hint of remorse throughout the game, except for one brief moment that seemed pivotal to the rest of the game. There was no remorse while killing Joel, none while she's talking about the scars, she isn't even willing to entertain the notion that any world view contrary to her own could have its merits - this made her character seem far too unrealistic. I understand the point about the circle of violence, but even while you're in the thick of this circle of violence, a realistic character should, and would, consider at least briefly, that their actions may be going too far. This was the facet that the authors totally failed to explore for Abby. You're left thinking, _why is she even doing this_? I think this is at the core of why the author's are being called lazy writers so frequently.

    However, on the flip side, it seems implausible that a character that displays totally sociopathic tendencies throughout the game, would suddenly change the way they behave towards these children after leaving them for dead. Why did her time with Owen cause her to suddenly remember that she'd left the kids to die. They saved her life, but so had Joel! Why was she so nonchalant about killing Joel for so long if he had saved her life too?

    There was no exploration of "would my dad want me to kill Joel", "was killing Joel the right thing to do", or anything of the sort. Even when hesitation is displayed by other characters, she wishes she could have been even more brutal. This doesn't fit, and it doesn't make sense!

    But my biggest criticism of this game isn't even about the story that was told. On the front of the game, was the title "the last of us", the last game was about a post apocalyptic world where a deadly infection had gripped the world. Ultimately, people loved this game because of the personal relationships that had been formed, despite the peril that the world faced. The greatest parts of the game for me, were the parts where you discovered how the world descended into chaos, through memories left by the old world. It was about trying to see how the world could get itself free from that chaos. We felt betrayed at the end of the last game too, because we wanted the world saved, but we weren't willing to give Ellie up to save it!

    This story on the other hand, was a classic revenge tale! This tale could have been told in any world, and I think for most fans, the disappointment stems from "it didn't have to be _THIS_ world"! The world constructed by the authors of the previous game had so many facets that could have been further explored, but instead, we got (what I believe to be) a reasonably generic revenge story.

    Sure, both sides had their reasons for revenge, but that misses the point, this game is about the apocalypse caused by a deadly disease. At what point did the disease have any level of salience in this game? Ellie wanting her life to mean something felt like an after thought. The reasons for Ellie and Joel's patchy relationship could have been substituted for literally anything else. The reason Joel killed Abby's dad could have also been substituted for literally anything else, and I could continue to go on here.

    I agree that the characters developed here. I agree that the story was fine (I hesitate to call it "good"). But I'm upset because I don't think it belonged in the world of the last of us. Most of the criticisms that the developers are facing essentially stem from that simple fact. This game, and this story had a right to exist, but they should not have existed in the world of the last of us. That is ultimately how I feel about this game.

    This is a joke. Dull gameplay that hasn`t changed since 2013. God-awful story. The reliance on graphics instead of interesting combat and likable characters. And this is what we get after 7 years of waiting?
    This game should have never been released.

    I think my review got deleted as it was not showing. I do love the first game becoming obsolete, characters being changed to fit a narrative and some weird sex scenes. Please keep putting this in the game. Best moment was our fatty geralt

    The biggest let down in gaming history so far, you are better of renting the game or buying it second hand on ebay. I can not see how all these gaming outlets give it a perfect score, and then put down the player base for disagreeing. Nice knowing you Naughty Dog.

I avoided them because I trusted Naughty Dog to make a compelling and lovable story as the first. I was let down, my heart ripped out, and my dreams crushed just like Joel. We are not homophobic, racists, or bigots like the Naughty Dog team wants to believe we are. We are merely people who want a small ray of hope in the dark times we live in. The first game captured it perfectly. But, The Last of Us Part 2 is a heaping pile of misery porn and forced, manipulative narrative that jams unnecessary messages down your throat. Well i have been playing video games over 25 years including TLOU part 1, i was really looking forward to play this sequel and i was playing it but there was so much violence against animals, a horse and a dog during cutscenes, when the enemies began using dogs to track me down i was really worried so i investigated before i kept playing and what i found out was terrible so this is the first game i ever rejected because of that extremely violent content, it crossed the line and i hope they fix this on a patch perhaps.… Expand

    Mislead the majority of the player base who expected a continuation of the Last Of Us, not a Darwin Award for arguably one of the people most influential during, and apparantly able to survive in the wild, gets taken out whilst his lil girl goes out into the wild a new man!

    I played first part tlou and it is masterpice but second part is great **** If you have choice to play tlou2 or rewind first part you should chose second.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
