    My sincere opinion, I played this game and I was totally disappointed, a bad experience, I didn't buy the game, I won, and the disappointment was so great that I will break this garbage. It's absurd how they can ruin a franchise, with a totally revolting story and addressing issues that don't need to be addressed in a game.

    Totally disappointed. Was hoping to get another brilliant story with Ellie as main character but instead had to play as this Abby/trap villain without being able to skip her/its chapters or get back to Ellie. The game contains many disgusting moments and what the studio did to some of most beloved characters from Part 1 is inexcusable. 0/10

Why have a revenge plot to teach the player that revenge is not good after killing dozens of people to finally achieve your one goal, to kill the main villain! Yes, Abby is the villain, she's a psychopath that willingly smashed a person's skull after a person lying on the ground helplessly begs her to stop. The game tries to show the players her perspective but fails to have the connection that Joel and Ellie have. They spent a whole game on Ellie and Joel's relationship and expecting the player to have the same feeling towards the person that literally ends that is such poor and bad writing. This game can NOT be enjoyed when the story makes you cringe so hard, it's hard to focus and survive when you are playing Abby. Thoughts that come up are just letting the game kill her. This revenge plot could've been an interesting one, if Joel maybe died in a better way, and actually focusing on Abby as the villain. We kill her and realize that revenge isn't the best way to cope with someone's loss. Instead, we just got a blue balling ending which made the whole player base pissed. 0/10, can't even focus on combat without thinking of killing my self.… Expand

In terms of the story, the game disregards its USP, the Joel/Ellie dynamic, as well as the inspiring themes of the original in    This game has several fundamental issues.

    While it’s visually stunning, the gameplay feels contrived from the original with little innovation, and feels exhausting over the 30 hour campaign as the exact same enemy varieties and attack techniques are utilised.

    In terms of the story, the game disregards its USP, the Joel/Ellie dynamic, as well as the inspiring themes of the original in favour of a grim revenge plot. As such it lacks the emotionally compelling relational dynamics that made the first game so memorable. A key death is handled in a very convenient, random, degrading manner making it feel more like shock for the sake of shock than a well written plot point. Abbys character is handled poorly as the writing tries so hard to make you empathise with her but never truly does, while the ending feels utterly pointless, the moral lesson being, it’s okay to torture lots of random innocent people but avenging a loved one is bad! This would be quite like return of the Jedi if darth vader got killed by a random Jedi’s niece instead of us seeing the Luke /Vader climax ( Joel/Ellie’s turbulent relationship after she learns the truth being the equivocal plot point we missed out on).

    In trying to subvert expectations it creates a boring and soulless plot and it’s a real shame because the first remains amongst the most grim but inspiring stories of all time. Rest in peace!    … Expand

The game even fails to execute the simple revenge plot properly by "making us sympathize" with the antagonist and not even finishing that up properly.
    Characters - The characters are generic and one of them looks like they have been taking steroids for 10 years. Hate the character progression.
    Graphics - Great
    Gameplay _ TLOU was never a game you would play for the gameplay and the story was the main draw this game falls flat in that regard still credit where credit is due it's" better" I guess.
    This should have been a standalone game and maybe just maybe it would have succeeded moderately.

    Naughty Dog dropped the ball with this one. No offense to anyone who enjoyed the game, all the power to you! But just look at the difference between the user and metascore. If you were a die hard fan of the first game and original characters I’d probably pass on this one.

    this game definitely not worth a 5, obviously there are alots of bots spamming 10 recently. Bad story, outdated gameplay proven AAA games doesn't really improved thru years, only improved in graphics.

Games, movies and entertainment allow suspension of disbelief, because the audience just wants to have a good time. It doesn't matter what the story is about - aliens, mutants, whatever. But audiences are not stupid - they can see a blatant attempt by someone to push an agenda. It is unfortunate, that the "powers that be", choose to sacrifice a franchise for their political motivations.

    it makes you wonder if there is any point playing games anymore ? Where is the fun ? If gamers just wanted to be brainwashed, we could turn on our favorite news channel and watch it all day for free, instead of shelling out top dollar to get disappointed.

    The question is, why is there such a discrepancy between critic scores and users scores ? Critics care only about where their bread and butter is coming from. Users care about other users having a good time, and avoiding wasting money. Now media outlets are saying it doesn't matter what the fans think.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLOU is one of my most beloved and favourite games because of the story and relationship between Joel & Ellie. I avoided all the leaked spoilers, negative criticism on the game so I can experience it for myself and make up my own judgement. However, I am disappointed with ND here’s why. I played the game and completed it in 4 days straight (do not recommend it) it took me on an up & down journey (Mostly down) from beginning to end, lots of flashbacks, confusing story, misleading trailers to get the fans to buy the game, no character development, or clear message, pointless tasks, uncharacteristic choices, no real care or connection to any of the new characters introduced, more than half the game you play as Abby to try and get us to understand and sympathize, when no one really wanted that.
    I can understand where the director was trying to take the story but it was done poorly, even someone with an open mind could see this. The characters they said they hold close and dear to their hearts & would do right by the fans they completely ruined. One thing I cant deny is the graphics are incredible, and the accessibility of game play. If only they had put more work into the story than they did for the visuals. No matter how beautiful the visuals are, it was hard to enjoy this game. At end of it, I felt mentally and physically distraught, no real accomplishment or impact from the game like it had in the first one.    … Expand

    The first part is my favorite game ever along with Uncharted 4. I was waiting for the part 2 so much. I had pre-ordered the game and I had seen nothing from the leaks. I wanted to play the game myself and see how it is.I had so much hype and when the game finally arrived in my hands I started played with so much hype. Then as the hours was passing and I was reaching the    Spoilers alert:

I wanted to play the game myself and see how it is.I had so much hype and when the game finally arrived in my hands I started played with so much hype. Then as the hours was passing and I was reaching the end of the game, I really felt disappointed.

    Well no about graphics, mechanisms, details, animations. These are the best out there in my opinion and I didn't expect something less from ND. On this sector they did the best work for real.

    My disappointment was because I didn't expect such an off topic story. I expected to see some new missions with Joel and Ellie but most like likely something that it would explain or show what happened / happening about the virus, its evolution or its cure solution. Well nothing from all these happened.

    I actually played a game that had to do with so many inaccurate characters according to the part 1 that we never showed them there and everything had to do around them. The most hours of the game it was a gameplay with Abby and not Ellie. Even if the game logo on the dvd package showing the Ellie as the protagonist.

    I found Abby's part so boring because I had just to go to a specific location then come back to a previous then again go back to the original and doing such things that didn't make me feel excited at all. It was like I was playing a walking dead tv series in a game. Even the end of the game reminded me so much of the Nigan season.

    ND also did something wrong. They nurfed Joel and Tommy that much that I thought it was a joke or a troll to us the fans of the franchise. Joel and Tommy would never mention who they are, from where they are or asking strangers come with them to their camp. That was much accurate to me.

    Also we watched 2 official trailers with Joel saving Ellie by covering her mouth plus Ellie playing guitar and saying to Joel he will kill any last of them. Well these scenes never happened in the game. It was probably a marketing to push the sales. Showing Joel alive and kill him just in the first 2 hours like garbage or a movie walkon wasn't that cool.

    Also Ellie mentioning to Abby you will **** die, you are dead etc. and in the end nothing of this happens. Just like Rick with Nigan in the final episode that letting him be alive. So the problem here is that this game wasn't prototype at all. Just a copy of a move or tv series. While the first part was from zero to the end a real masterpiece with a great scenario.

    Another thing that was not that cool is the animal violation. In first they said you will not be forced to kill a dog but at last there were times you had to. Also killing dogs was only represented while playing as Ellie and from the other side with Abby you were only playing with a dog. That was a trick to make people love more Abby instead of Ellie?

    Well after that I felt they just humiliate our intelligence. Anyway. That's it for me and that was my personal opinion of course. Also it's sad to see a director calling his fans with negative characterizations or words like "who **** / cares for the haters"?

    And I am not talking about those fake fans that used rude and abusing language against ND or the actors. That's not right. I am talking about the real fans that paid played the game and they had their own opinion that it was different of what nd's director probably expected. Not cool when you talk like that about your customers / fans.

    I've played the first TLOU at least 10 times and in my opinion it's one of the best games ever made. I have no idea what this second game is, I cannot even recognize it. I can only describe it as horrible, terrible, awful, disgusting and disrespectful.

The game has great graphics but the story has been twisted from a beautifully well balanced gritty story with a top line of characters to a matriarchal drama. If you are looking to buy this game to continue the story of Joel and Ellie.....dont buy it as all your in for is about a quarter or a third of the game played similarly to the first one minus Joel then you watch him get murdered then they make you play as his killer in an attempt to make you feel for abby so you don't hate the ending that is ellie just changing her mind and not kill her. Whole game was about ellies revenge but she backs out......starts great ends poorly. Ps Metacritic - stop basing your scores off of sales figures. It got the sales because the 1st game was outstanding and we wanted to continue the journey with joel and ellie.....not watch it get twisted by feminists, that's why it got the low score not because people didn't play it.… Expand

I should have read the other reviews before wasting money on this game, it is obvious that the developer was more interested in pushing an agenda than actually producing a game to surpass the previous game.     No way is this game a 10/10, the story is terrible! I couldn't care less about the the characters here, even Ellie who i loved in the first game is dreadfully dull here. Graphics and gameplay are 10/10 but the story which made the first last of us one of my favourite games of all time is truly poor here.

    This is a spit game for all game fans. The worst part is Druckman can't be trusted with the game's plot. Everything was ruined and it hurt to play. I hope the purchased reviews won't save you. Throughout the game, I wanted to ask why I was doing this. Why make half the game play for this pumped woman.

The infected are barely part if this game ive seen more forced love scenes than zombies ive killed. Joel is way dumber than he is in the first game just trusting anyone he meets. I dont even mind that he died quickly except the fact that its super early and hes barely in the game. Ellie has changed so much more for the worse. Instead of being a badass inspiring kid she is nothing but an arrogant and selfish jerk who thinka about no one but herself. Not only that but none of the new characters are likable in any way the first game gave us phenomenal heroes and villains such as tess and the cannibals this gane gives us a whiny partner for ellie and a villain that the game tries to make you sympathize for after she tortures fan favorite joel to death. This game is not worth it please do not follow in my footsteps im begging you to save your money.… Expand

    Graphically this game is good as per the Naughty Dog standard, But story wise I am quite disappointed.
    A lot of the reviews here are genuine. having a pretty game just isnt enough.

Para empezar fallaron en los trailer, mintiendo a sus fan, la historia se basa en la venganza pero al final se arrepiente despues de matar a todo el mundo, mostraron al personaje Abby como el todo poderoso eliminando a Joel que tiene mas experiencia, obligandole a volverse ingenuo y torpe, todo la historia forzado. La historia también da entender que los hombres no sirven y la escena del sexo de Abby esta demás,Espero que los demás juegos no intenten copiar este estilo por hacerle caer bien a algunos solo se pide un juego normal la política y los juegos no deben caer en lo mismo, el director debería renunciar, es una gran pena. No logre terminarlo me quede en la parte de controlar a Abby y realmente me mate varias veces con ese personaje y lo deje ahí no quise terminarlo, Pésimo pésimo… Expand

    WOW, everything still looks the same. This game just comes down to character development , story and emotions. I just did not see it in this game, how i saw it on part one. If you want to take out a legend/lovable character in the game you do it by story telling. Its like pretending it to be a Metal Gear Game and solid snake is dead early in the game..     Liked Sounds.

    Liked the game the first half, but than i played only for the cliffhanger, was bored and had no fun.

    It´s definitely a masterpiece... Anyone not giving it a 10 or giving a bad review didn´t play the entire game. I get why some people might be upset with that special thing at the beginning but it totally doesnt ruin the game. Loved it. Haters gonna hate.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have played some games that are borderline **** but let's put it this way: They did not piss me off enough to make a metacritic account. Did you love Joel from part 1? He dies in the most "we need it for story" way possible.
    Do you like Ellie? Well she gets her life turned upside-down and you're supposed to like that. You get to play through slaughtering Ellie's friends. You are forced to kill a dog.
    I hope you like Abby, you know, the one who killed Joel and slaughtered Ellie's friends. After Ellie loses everything, she let's the **** go? I call bull****. Ellie lost her father figure, her friends, and her family (and the ability to play Joel's guitar) but we need to be happy Ellie is screwed over and Abby (Butch) gets to live out happy?

    I am glad my little brother let me borrow this as I would not have spent money on this. As far as I am concerned The Last of Us Series ends when Ellie said "Okay" in the first one.    … Expand
