    I want to rate this game as 4 but the second half of the game just a forceful story and nothing working out in that part and the non-sense ending makes it a 4. But in the end the complete non-sense "Forceful" story makes this game as a total 0. Don't waste 25-30 hours of your life into this. It doesn't worth it while so many other things that you can do to improve yourself in this life.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a fan of the first game, this has to be the most disappointing sequel I have ever played.
    This story uses the nostalgia of the first game to set an emotional tone for a story which has no relation to the first. Despite seeming to presume Joel was morally wrong at the end of the first game (which I do not!) the vaccine or cure has no impact on events, much like everything else from the first game. Instead, the new character of Abby, has the whole first game shoved as a simple backdrop to her motivations, and is desperately painted as a sympathetic character. Not only does her child murdering father save a zebra (awww) but she likes dogs too (awwwwwwww), but none of this is going to make anyone who liked Joel, think this justifies his murder. The murder, in trying to be gritty, misses key story telling and character opportunities, and signals the poorly thought out story which continues for far too long into this game. The story, a fumbled attempt at a 'revenge is bad' story, fails to understand human nature, basic philosophy (let alone theology) and so unwittingly spirals into a nihilistic mess, which by its very definition leaves you with nothing of true meaning at the end. The story of the first game had both strong male and female characters, the sequel discards both and finishes with nothing. Even Dina, introduced in the original's DLC, and seeming to have a strong role at the start of the sequel, is ploughed over by the Abby narrative, underdeveloped until she quietly leaves unseen. The game tries instead to make you care about a new cast of cliched and shallow characters. A pregnant fighter, an aquarium loving simp, faceless people who now all have names, but no personality are what we are given. It seems the apocalyptic world lacks its vikings, genghis khans, and bundys. That might be a bit dark for a game? Maybe, but that is precisely the tone this game thinks it is giving, but in truth shows a very shallow understanding of... well anything. The clickers, surely the best part, are thrown in from time to time, but are seperate from meaningful attachment to story.
    The game play is disappointingly similar to the original, and the added stealth and jumping make very little difference (when people are cheering rope physics, alarm bells should ring!). The game does have its great moments and the graphics are very good (although overrated). These two points would give it a higher rating, 4/10 maybe, but what took away from my enjoyment of the game while playing let alone replayability, was the accusations online from journalists and developers themselves that I had not played the game, or was prejudice, or was a russian asset. Followed by the striking down of reviews online, in order to push the game, and the false advertising from the trailers, which had me pre-order (Do you think I'd let you do this alone?....yes, you're dead, I am doing the next 30 hours without you). The 10/10 reviews are ridiculous, and have signalled the death of gaming journalism . On top of that Niel Druckmann is just insufferable, and his narrow minded conceited tweets have not only put me off this game but also the original and any sequel planned. It will be interesting to see if metacritic remove this review or not. The reviews reflect a very angry fanbase, and lack of understanding, let alone sympathy, will be the downfall of Naughty Dog. Many of the fans fawning over it as a 10/10, I can only assume never understood the first game properly. Instead they are fair weather fans, applauding (or crying over) whatever new release they can join the club of, and tossing the old one to the side.
    If Sony and Naughty Dog do not view this as a disastrous step for them, both in terms of the game, and how they have handled criticism/marketing, then their future will come crashing down as the destroy all the franchises they worked hard to build, and the old fans will cheer and the fair weather fans will already have moved on.

    Finally, play the guitar left handed you idiot, or play it 3 fingered like Django Reinhardt (The World Famous 3 fingered guitarist!!)!! This 'poignant' ending is shockingly dumb, nihilistic, and rather pathetic. If you want a good story about revenge and its effects, read the Count of Monte Cristo.    … Expand

Las agendas políticas y la corrección política son un cáncer que debe ser erradicado de los juegos antes que sea demasiado tarde. Primero le pasó a Battlefield 5, ahora a este juego. ¿Qué otra franquicia sigue? ¿GTA 6? Espero de corazón que no.

    2. To explain what's wrong with the story without summing up the story or revealing the story: The Last of Us 1 (TLoU) gave a feeling that the story was complete and that you've witnessed something epic story-wise. There    After finishing the game I feel sad over two things:

    In TLoU2 the story leave you with a feeling that you just watched a pilot episode of a cancelled TV-series. So empty and I would not recommend anyone to play this game if you have a positive memory of TLoU 1.

    About the content in the story, I have not a problem of the characters choises in life. I just feel that the characters does things for the wrong reason and it's just a big failure.. I can't see what plans the developers had for the story.

    Perhaps there can be DLC's that enhance the story and explains one or two things. But that wont correct the wrongs that were made. I feel empty after playing this game.    … Expand

    This game just spits in the face of the fans of the first game. It's like a mental torture to those who loved the original characters Joel and Ellie. Naughty Dog was really disrespectful with the fandom of the franchise... I'm extremely disappointed!

    Every different timeline provides more deception and senseless violence.

    The game turns into a third person shooter, similar to what happened to RE series in Resident Evil 4.

    Honestly I am heartbroken.

    Beautiful game other than the tearing but that is it. Game play is horrible constant frame drops on pro. I can only imagine what it's like on the standard console. Naughty Dog ruining yet another franchise the story is absolutely horrible. Naturally Sony doesn't refund for this crap. Come on Sony a little more customer friendly tactics will take you a long way.

I enjoyed the game for 13 hours straight, yes, the story was not as compelling as that of the first title, but it was still good enough that it kept me motivated, plus my love for the characters pushed me forward to fulfill their objectives. I got scared, I was engaged, I was driven by anger, I felt that I was one with Ellie. I played the game at night, wearing headphones and with the lights off just to be as immersed in the game as possible, in short: I was having a fantastic experience, but then...

    i have no clue what went through Druckmann's mind, how in the hell would I want to play as Abby, it has nothing to do with her being the "villain" or the way anyone wants to interpret it, it is the fact that I have to go to the theater to kill Ellie, and I know I'm making it there because we are shown that they meet after 13 hours of playing with Ellie, so there is not even a shade of doubt regarding my objectives or destination.

    I am not going to mention the bad storytelling or the plotholes because I do not care about them, I could do with bad writing as long as I am playing as the people that i had learned to love 6 years ago. In the end, the 10 hours I played as Abby, to me, were not enjoyable, I stopped playing at night, I stopped wearing headphones and I did not care about anything about it, I paced through it in one day because I couldn't bring myself to play as her and to top it all off I have to bash Ellie's head in too, like WTF?

    i am really disappointed with this game, not just because I did not enjoy it, but because I had so much faith in ND to produce a game which would at least match the first one's level of emotion, and in turn I ended up hating the sequel to my favourite game ever.    … Expand

    Lots of fans (just like me) were not interested in playing Abby. The way the game tries have you to empathize with her is just pathetic. Abby's point of view, wasnt even that immersive. And they forced u to beat Ellie up, "kill" Joel... for me, it was not a story to enjoy, since E&J were the main reason why I bought the game.

    The game fails miserabily also in the ending. All the suffering and sacrifices from Ellie, made no sense in the end.
    I get it NG, REVENGE IS BAD, but also bad writing, imposing agendas and changing chars behaviour just to have the "story" go the way u want it to go.
    The story could have so much potential: Joel's death could have been developed much much better. it's so bitter to see your MC from the first game being killed (just for a story trope), by a random antagonist just introduced.
    I think most of the players wanted to see the development in Ellie and Joel relationship, and how the whole choice about saving Ellie's life could have changed and progressed between the two. We get just a little chat about that, but nothing more.

    And, about the side characters. just crap, Unlike the original ones. The old characters, are so diverse from the 1st game, its so sad to see how they changed them just to fit their agenda.

This event sounded questionable but I decided to wait for contexts like many of the critic reviews said to before I judged it. My thoughts on the game overall by the end was graphics 10/10, gameplay 9/10, story 3/10. The story just killed my enjoyment of The Last of Us Part 2 completely. It is so terribly written. There are some good moments, which is why the story gets a 3 and not a 0 but they in no way make up for the awful story choices that are made. Joel's relationship with Ellie is spat upon, characters make ridiculous choices, and the mystery woman, played by Laura Bailey, is, in my opinion, the worst video game character of all time. This character and the way she is portrayed is one of the big reasons why the story is so bad. Not only that but the ending is just awful. It completely undoes the message they were trying to tell and makes everything feel pointless. Again, the graphics and gameplay are amazing, but I just did not want to replay the game and witness such a terrible story. I returned the game yesterday. 4/10. The graphics, gameplay and some story elements are good but since the overall story is so important to The Last of Us Part 2 , and most of that story is horrible, I had to give it a 4.     This game is comparable to the 32x add-on to the genesis, it adds to the original, but for all the wrong reasons. The original was well-written and at least I could sympathize with one of the main characters. It loses most of the values from the original, and the trailer load about several things involving Joel.

Many fans had a personal real-life connection to Joel and Ellie from the first game. What Neil Druckmann did to Joel and Ellie in this game is so abhorrent and just plain out doesn't make sense. Naughty Dog should redeem themselves and remake the story and gain back the loyalty of the fans. Leave political and social agendas to the politicians. Well Abby sure got her revenge and never expressed any regret, if she hadn't been stopped she'd even knowingly have murdered a pregnant woman. Oh but she plays with dogs so she's actually a good person! Sorry but no. Overall a badly written and horribly paced game that's basically a 10/10 in every other aspect but completely ruined by the narrative problems it has. But now we fast forward 5 years later and he's willing to go into a basement with strangers. Why? Because he was living in Jackson and became "soft"? Joel attended routines everyday clearing out infected and you're saying he's gotten soft when it came to people? He became more trusting to them all of a sudden? I don't buy it. It's almost like he was killed off in the way he was because they let a feminist run the show.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is simply a dumpster fire surrounded by toxicity and hypocrisy built by everyone involved. It is not only getting zero because of the game itself but the sheer desperate behaviour that these writers are going to defend this game and continuously contradict themselves with disgusting hypocritical arguments. On a side note I avoided the spoilers leaks like the plague so I went into this with a open mind. I also would like to say that The Last Of Us was my favorite game of all time before playing this game and it still remains an absolute masterpiece.

    In the first chapter, the main talking point is Joel's death. Joel and Tommy are so out of character. They give these random strangers information on everything about them while they scarily outnumber them. This is very lazy writing and terrible excuse to allow Abby to kill Joel. Joel's death was not at all emotional either and this is because they killed him so quickly in the game. I didn't feel anything for one of my favorite characters of all time. It felt only shocking with no emotional reaction because there was no story pacing. It just felt soulless watching it.
    We then haul through 3 full days as Ellie in Seattle. This chapter has you play a needlessly open-world section and at least 12 hours of Ellie murdering a bunch of people that helped Abby find Joel. Almost nothing happens for hours (as opposed to how engaging it was in the first game). You start to feel fed up playing the game because the story-pacing is so poor. The story is just not engaging enough. The museum mini-chapter has to be the best thing in the game by a mile. You get a beautiful interaction with Joel which really brings back the first game's feels. This is the only part of the game where you actually have a Joel/Ellie moment and it lasts just 20minutes...
    We then have go through the same 3 days as Abby - a character we know nothing about, don't care about or feel the want to care about her. Abby's personality is so unlikable and emotionless. She's unbearably uninteresting and boring.. Not to mention how ridiculous she looks. We are just meant to assume she's in some sort of peak condition while everyone else looks in proportion. Throughout you will meet all the characters you killed as Ellie as they try to manipulate you into thinking these are good people. You learn that Joel killed her Dad which apparently justifies what she did. We now see how they love dogs and look after them (while Ellie viciously kills them). Abby is made out to be such a good person because she helps free a Zebra with her Dad. She also looks after two random kids in the last 2 days which feels way out of place. This entire chapter is so forced and is so incredibly transparent and despite the writer's desperate attempts, It does not make you like Abby unless you are easily emotionally manipulated. Then we are meant to assume Ellie is stupid enough to leave her map behind basically saying "I killed all your friends, come and get me" which leads to being forced to fight Ellie and beat the **** out of her. This entire chapter is some of the laziest written content I have ever experienced.
    In the final chapter, Tommy is out of character again and contradicts himself to become an **** Ellie goes to the lengths of abandoning Dina which is also out of character. She goes all the way to Santa Barbara to save Abby only to spare her despite all the lives she's taken getting here. Not only that but Abby bit off her fingers taking away the only thing she had left of Joel - playing the guitar. It's really such poor writing filled with plot holes
    The graphics, music, game play are all some of the best I've played but it all feels heavily let down when playing a story-based game with such a lazily written manipulative mess of a story. Overall I'd give the game a 4/10 because of this.

    However, since release Druckmann and his team has been insinuating those who didn't like the game are too stupid to understand a below average story-telling or claimed the reviews are from bots. The fact that those who do like the game are calling those that don't 'misogynists, sexists and phobics' sums up the toxicity of this game. What Abby looks like is not normal in the slightest, never mind in the apocalypse when there's very limited resources. They made the excuse that they wanted to make a strong female lead. You don't need to give a women steroids to make them a strong lead. Meanwhile a story-line about Lev's trans-phobic mother is ludicrous in an apocalyptic world. It is NOT homophobic, trans-phobic or sexist to dislike this game. It's clear there is a political agenda and it's fine they want to do that but they are first-world problems, it just doesn't belong in this game. I want to talk more about this but the character limit prevents me. They ruined what the first game meant to people and what it was about. They butchered every character. They butchered the story and they butchered our love for the franchise.    … Expand

    Where to start... this game is soooo poorly structured in terms of storytelling, that it doesn't make sense most of the things that happens... The plot twist are very forzed, there's poor character development, a lot of violence just because, and some parts of the game where you wish to finish them faster....     It’s hard for me to write this comment, since I have been waiting for this game for almost 6 years, after I completed the first part on the newly purchased PS4.
    I tried very hard not to run into spoilers before the release of the long-awaited sequel, and all these years of waiting, I carefully followed the news about the continuation of the story of Ellie ...
    I can’t say that this game, in my opinion, is the best game at the moment, because it is saturated from head to toe with tremendous efforts in development, with a great desire to make a masterpiece and something worthwhile, attention to details, this the game just gets out of the whole industry!
    But my assessment is caused by ardent bewilderment and a huge question: “Why did ND bend so much under feminism ??? Under the opinion of minorities ??? Where does such a desire to please LGBT people and the like ??? What for???"
    They tried to put all this homosexuality into every free cell of this game, and then Neal suggested that indignant players not buy - if they didn’t like it.

    Honestly speaking, one big disappointment (gameplay, plot, characters, lore - everything from the first part is ruined). I would not recommend this game to anyone. Also, the authors' response to criticism was from being adequate. The game is purely awful, while the authors started emphasizing political context of criticism in order to make better impression. Such a disappointment.

Absolutely loved the first game, played it over and over again, and when I heard they were making a second one, I couldn’t contain my excitement!! But when the second instalment arrived.........well I can say I’ve played it through once and will not be playing it again. The game itself was very well done and the graphics were flawless, but I didn’t enjoy playing Ellie as much as I thought I would and the whole character swapping was the final nail in the coffin. The biggest setback for me was the story, from the moment Joel died I just felt like the game betrayed him by letting us play the girl that killed him and tried to tell her sob story so that killing Joel wouldn’t be so bad. Then right at the end after all that struggle, Ellie let her go!! I mean WTF?!?! Just a totally piss poor effort from naughty dog. Will not be playing the third if there is unless it’s a total rewrite of this poor effort of a story!!… Expand

My user rating is more along a 4 or 5 but the media ratings being as high as they are need to be balanced out, this game is not a perfect 10. Do not waste your money. Play The Last of Us part 1 as a standalone game, do not bother with this sequel.

    The last of Us 1 fue un increíble juego, de hecho es mi juego favorito y lo seguirá siendo, así que estaba muy expectante a una segunda parte (cada año que pasaba lo jugaba otra vez hasta que pudiera jugar la continuación de este).

    Pre-ordené el juego y comencé a jugarlo, las primeras horas estaba todo bien (estaba enamorado con las nuevas gráficas y amaba el hecho de poder ver a mis personajes favoritos otra vez) hasta que llego la muerte de Joel en la cual llore como una niña que había perdido a su muñeca favorita, pero esta escena tan brutal hizo que naciera otro sentimiento en mi ademas de pena, era la ira y con cada célula de mi cuerpo quería asesinar a todos los presentes en esa habitación algo que también pensaba Ellie por lo tanto me enlace de una manera perfecta a la misión del personaje.

    Todo iba perfecto hasta que sucede lo mas inesperado me hacen jugar con la persona que mas odiaba en ese momento Abby y entendí perfectamente el porque. Lo que quieran lograr los guionista era que me empatizara con Abby pero lamentablemente yo no soy Jesus como para ir perdonando a gente porque es lo correcto, para mi lo correcto en ese preciso instante era matarme de las formas mas crueles posibles.

    Avanzando con la tortura de 12 horas de Abby en la cual no me pude enlazar con el personaje de la misma forma que con Ellie llegamos al momento donde pensábamos que todo se iba a solucionar, que porfin íbamos a obtener la venganza, pero no y para cagarla mas te hacen luchar contra uno de los pocos personajes que de verdad llegue a amar en el primer juego y que están vivos. Eso para mi fue el fin, no paraba de preguntarme en mi cabeza ¿De verdad pase las ultimas 12 horas de mi vida sufriendo con este juego para que termine así? Pues al parecer no sino que después de volver al juego del gato y el ratón llegamos al verdadero final donde Ellie decide no matar a Abby porque ve a Joel en ella y entiende que el no hubiera querido esto.

    Pues espere 7 años de mi vida para estas 22 horas y déjenme decirles que no valió la pena es una de las decepciones mas grandes que he tenido en mi vida creo que la gente de Naughty Dog no entiende el sentimiento que los jugadores les ponen a sus juegos y cuanto amor fue entregado por nosotros a la memoria del primer TLOU. El 2020 nose pudo haber puesto peor.

Killing off one major character for shock value just to "launch" that **** revenge story. No hope in this game, just anxiety and depression. The characters weren't loveable, even those we knew from the first game. Oh wait, the only characters I cared about were Tommy and Owen. Critics aren't objective about this game and it makes me sick. And no, this game is far from being a masterpiece with tons of plot holes. It's an okay game at best. And it's definitely not GOTY. Now no wonders why everyone on ND abandoned ship!     I just can't believe how they spoiled this game ... This game could be a great success, they didn't have to do anything really special and it would easily be the game of the year. And so we received the game with the worst story of all time, written by a mentally unstable naughtydog ... I want my money back. And you can be sure that I will never buy a game from this studio again.
