    Stayed up til midnight after waiting what feels like forever for this. The story is terrible, the writing is questionable and takes you out of the experience more often than not. I’ve avoided all the leaks so I can play it fresh but after about 12 hours in I’m just disappointed. If you loved the first, avoid this because it will just ruin a great first game. So disappointed.

    Graphics, facial expressions and gameplay are on point. The story is very weak, the narrative is bad and revolting. The characters are poorly developed and overall meaningless and expandable.

    I first saw the original TLOU on Youtube, where someone had edited all of the cutscenes together into a movie. I watched it, then watched it again, then I recommended it to friends and family. That weekend, I literally went out and paid hundreds of dollars to buy a PS3 *specifically* to play that game. I’ve now beaten the original TLOU on every difficulty level. 100%. I’ve now beaten the original TLOU on every difficulty level. 100%. I’ve read every issue of the tie-in comic. I bought the art book. I’ve watched all the interviews and behind the scenes things. I’ve read the entire Wiki. I took home the store displays and posters of the game when my local GameStop got rid of them. I’ve stanned that game to all my friends and family for years, whether or not they're gamers. I’ve watched people on Twitch speedrun it to completion, hundreds of times. TLOU is one of the best “movies” I’ve ever seen and one of the greatest video games I’ve ever played. I used to check IMDB every week or so, specifically to see if there was any news on the TV series, even after it was cancelled the first time.

    But now all of that is gone. I have zero interest in this franchise now. That's what this game did.

    I’m not going to complain about the politics of the game, because frankly, I don’t care. I just want to play video games. I like games made by creators from both sides of the political aisle and starring all varieties of protagonist. But if you want dismiss this as me being a bot or a crazy incel or whatever, you can go right ahead. The truth is that my issue is that this game forgets what TLOU is supposed to be about. Trust me, as I said, I’ve read literally everything ever released about this franchise. The original idea was to have 2 characters experience the world of the game together, and have their relationship change over the course of those events. This franchise is *about* those two characters and their relationship. That is the entire point of the original game. Neither one of them is more important than the other, they were designed to be a duo. The franchise was about these damaged people, learning to trust and love again, amid the zombie apocalypse. This game undoes all of that. It makes it pointless. It punishes you for caring about the story the original told, then it tells you that you were wrong for ever feeling it in the first place.

    I am fine with violence in games, and I’m fine with characters dying, what I’m not fine with is story choices that don’t serve the characters and characters which don’t serve the story. I’m not fine with game mechanics that were already on the verge of being outdated on the PS3 but now return in basically the same form. I’m not fine with you lying to me in your trailers, because you KNEW that I wouldn’t buy it if I knew the truth about what you were doing. I'm not fine with you completely changing everything I previously liked about this franchise: a damaged father and his surrogate daughter fighting monsters, of both the human and infected variety. You did nothing interesting to replace that. You gave me nothing to love, you only provided me with innumerable reasons to hate. Specifically, you gave me many reasons to hate this game, these characters, and this company.

    I signed up to Metacritic today *specifically* to review this game. That’s how mad it made me. That’s how badly Naughty Dog seems to misunderstand their own franchise and the reasons why people like me enjoyed the original. I'm sure there are plenty of people who will love this game. But I am not one of them. At all. I never want to see it again.

    So, this is the end of our long road together, TLOU. I think I’ll focus on franchises and creators who don’t deliberately go out of their way to make me hate them, because that’s their definition of “art.” You said "I'd rather have people passionately hate it than just be like, 'Yeah, it was OK.'" The story of revenge and the costs that come with it in the world of the game is bleak, depressing and very engaging and realistic. The story, mechanics, graphics and everything has been refined and improved. BUT as expected all these adult male man-babies are sooooo in thier feelings that "Social Justice Warriors" destroyed "thier" franchise and have purposefully tanked the user ratings as they said they would because thier small brains can't handle the though of lesbians or trans people in video game stories or SHOCKER - a 60+yo man who BARELY survived the 1st game dying in the sequel. It would have been very unbelievable if that character HAD survived. It was an amazing, gut wrenching and very realistic catalyst for the story to go where it went.     A pointless exercise in brutal violence. Ellie got robbed: No real interaction with Joel, basically turned into a homicidal maniac and then ends the game alone and abandoned...basically it's a game that **** on the legacy of the first by pretending to be deep and emotional. This is the Last Jedi of video games.

Abby is the most horrible person you'll ever meet and the game forcing me to play as her was just heart breaking the torture scene and killing Joe wasn't good at all.
    Ellie's relationship with a girl I didn't care for but their dialogue felt like they were just there to collect a paycheck. By far the only good scenes in the game are of Ellie growing up and being with Joel. Wouldn't recommend you buy it if you want to preserve the good memory of the first game.     This game is easily the biggest let down I ever had in gaming. The story and writing is absolute garbage. All the critic reviews were clearly paid for it is sickening.

    Do yourself a favor and just play the first game and pretend this one does not exist

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The graphics are outstanding, foliage and scenery look absolutely amazing. The sound design is also spectacular, leaves crunch when you step on them, clothes rustle in just the right way.
    The story however is pretty bad. Fitting two stories in the span of one game makes everything seem rushed and fast paced, not allowing one to enjoy the game at all. Joel, an experienced survivor and fighter, got done in so easily I thought it was a joke.

    Heartbroken, that's how I feel. Character assassination to the highest of levels. Killing Joel would have been fine, killing him this way? Making one of the most badass characters in gaming history look like a **** moron? **** hell. Ellie going on this quest for revenge, killing all those people and she spares the most despicable one because of a vision of Joel. The man who would have not only killed them, but also tortured them if she was the one that died. And what is the moral of the story? This franchise is dead. I just hope they won't make more games.     The 3 is purely for graphics and the hard work done by the Devs (suffering crunch). The imagery is nice, pretty much like all games nowadays; however, the game is very poorly written/directed and bleak, unintentionally so. There'll be plenty of copies in CEX next week. Just replay the original.

The only good thing about this game is the graphics but I wouldn’t even say that’s a compliment because we already expected them to be good. I would be happy if this game was erased from the canon and chalked up as a mistake. Naughty Dog forgot the fact that at the end of day, people play games for fun.     it doesn't get any better from there, only worse up until it really feels like we the player have been forced into a long depressing cutscene on rails where we are forced to make the worst decisions possible and then forced to endure the horrible outcome.
    its an experience I don't suggest to anyone really the game is riddled with triggers like, sexual abuse animal abuse, abuse abuse, soft and hard porn, etc. the game also has plot wholes and confusing characters who do and say things that make no sense what so ever.
    my final opinion after playing about half of the game and giving up after being forced to kill a couple innocent puppys, the game does a pretty bad job of keeping you engaged while telling an overall depressing story with an even more depressing end. gameplay mechanic wise I guess you could say it played good for the short time it felt like I actually got to play, during my play thru I kept finding myself saying "oh do I have to move now" over and over again to a point where the game was putting me to sleep.

    What a game at the first 2 hours, it’s just WOW, but I can’t keep playing After “that” happens... for me i finished it. Graphics are the most sopectaculars of all the times, músic same.

Poucos bugs no seu lançamento, jogabilidade excelente e fluída, modelagem de personagens e expressões faciais incríveis, cenários incrivelmente bem feitos e trabalhados com um nível de detalhamento espetacular, dublagem excelente. Graficamente o jogo é praticamente impecável e muito bonito, com um adendo a sua ótima jogabilidade. Apesar de acertar bastante e com méritos em sua parte técnica, The Last Of Us Part 2 desliza e erra bastante em relação a sua narrativa, não parecendo nem de perto com a excelente história do primeiro jogo. A Começar com o principal acontecimento inicial do jogo que, além de irritar profundamente a maior parte dos fãs da franquia, mostra um total descaso de roteiro para uma construção descente para o ocorrido, ignorando totalmente a personalidade e experiência dos personagens envolvidos além de forçar bastante para que determinada situação aconteça. Mesmo a morte de Joel sendo o pilar fundamental para o desenvolvimento da trama e talvez o único motivo que desencadearia uma sequência, poderia ter sido muito melhor trabalhada e tardia, dando mais tempo em tela para o personagem ao lado de Ellie. A tentativa de humanizar a antagonista e fazer o jogador entender seu ponto de vista através de gameplay com a própria, não funciona, além de aumentar mais ainda a a fúria dos fãs e sua frustração em ter que jogar com a assina de Joel. O final do jogo não faz jus nem sentido ao propósito de toda a jornada, ignorando completamente o intuito de vingança e sentimento de ódio de Ellie durante a jornada em vingar Joel. Em suma, The Last Of Us part 2 é um jogo incrível tecnicamente, usando tudo que o console pode oferecer, mas que infelizmente, tem uma narrativa muito medíocre se comparado ao seu antecessor. The Last of Us part 2 esnobou seu principal aspecto, uma historia incrível e bem contada. But when the Abby Story line began the game was starting to fall down and even further down. The ending was an absolute slap in the face for every fan. Abbys storyline is not interesting at all and its half of the game.... An absolute deserved 0/10

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Where do I begin with this disappointment? Hasn't 2020 kicked my ass enough? I got an early release of the game. Tried to avoid spoilers as much as could, did hear that Joel died, which didn't bother me to hear, but to see him get murdered in such an undignified way and how Ellie basically let this butch androgynous unlikable creature walk free, I just cannot express the injustice that was done to these characters. The weird sex scene was unnecessary and saw no point in it besides Neil Dickman or whatever the hell his name is, get off on his bizarre fetish and get "woke" points for being "progressive". At a certain point the graphics and scenery stopped being impressive and there were certain moments where I was bored and had no motivation to play especially as a character which I strongly disliked. Steroid Mary Sue was just not a good character. I felt forced to play as her but I couldn't give less of a crap about her or her story. Did not enjoy this game, it was a mess and cursed to begin with once the leaks and employee drama started to come out. Does not live up the beauty of the first game at all and it seems no beautiful story and characters are saved from the destructive clutches of progressivism.… Expand

    I never had high hopes for Fallout 76, which makes The Last of Us 2 the biggest gaming letdown I've ever experienced. The 9/10 visuals and score could not save this game from being an overall 1. I won't give away any parts of the story, but just know that your day will go much better if you spend that $60 on takeout and watch a play-through instead.

Maybe he should have got some tips on writing before getting Amy Hennig fired. It's unfortunate the game has such a weak story, as the gameplay feels good as ever.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am utterly heartbroken and angry. The plot is over ambitious,lazy,sloppy and nihilistic. It felt forced. Naughty dog bit off more then they could chew with this one. Tlou2 could have gone several ways in terms of plot with the existing characters, yet we get the cliche revenge plotline with the character abandoning the quest altogether to realise revenge isn't the answer. This trope has been done several times before, with more finesse and better execution. The circumstances that lead to Joel's death was out of character as well. The Joel I know from tlou1, a hardened survivor who has fought tooth and nail to survive the past 20 years would NEVER end up in a situation like that. Joel was intensely alert, critical,clever and intuitive.One of the bigger issues was the constant reinforcing that Joel is a villain who lacks empathy,Ellie believing the cure would have been a guaranteed sure shot success ..... WHY? This retcons the first one completely. The beauty of the tlou1 which was it's moral ambiguity, which is lost. The treatment of the main chatacter in her own game is utterly cruel and disappointing, and seemed unfair. Ellie is broken beyond repair. She chooses to be the better person, gives up on her vengeance and hate, still manages to be on the losing side as she ends up losing everything and everyone. Ellie gets a depressing, worthless, futile and a hopeless conclusion. Her BIGGEST FEAR has become a reality by the end.
    The gameplay, beautiful sceneries, and new characters like dina and jesse are few of the positives of game. The space shuttle cutscene, the museum flashback sequence, ellie and joel's flashbacks were the only parts that recreate the magic and beauty of tlou1.
    Abby... the forced deuteragonist, is an utter failure of character execution. Her character was forced onto us, felt hasty and lacked real build up. The abby-lev bond which is pretty much walmart version ellie and joel falls flat on it's face. The heart and soul of the game is butchered completely - ellie and joels bond.
    The false advertising to make us believe joel is alive and good?this is an ellie and joel centric game? A complete mockery of the fans who waited 7 years to see their favorite characters get horribly treated,retconned, disrespected and thrown under the bus in favour of new unlikable characters.    … Expand

    11 hours in and I gave up. The game is very repetative and besides the flashbacks and the car scene there is nothing of interest here. A total waste of money. The insult to injury are the flashback which are the exact game I would like to play.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m sorry, what?! Am I even playing the same game?! How has this gotten such glowing reviews from so many gaming outlets? I’m going to go into why this makes no sense:

    First, this is coming from a place of someone who has the original game in my top three best of all time. I came into this from a place very forgiving of mistakes because I wanted so bad to see more of this world. What I got instead is such a dumpster fire of plot holes and bad writing that I cannot get past that.

    They basically took the best parts of the first and these characters we loved and mashed them into the ground (yes intentional wording). For the sake of being edgy and trying to subvert expectations. The other thing is maddening is how hard they try virtue signaling. I am all about more representation in video games, but this is so hamfisted it goes to only serves to make the lgbtq community look worse in my opinion.

    What this plays out to be is a long winded, poorly written, angsty revenge plot with semi-servicable gameplay. Also are we seriously going to end the game with a QuickTime event? Don’t even get me started on how horrid the ending is and how hypocritical and against the character’s ingrained themes and motives it was on a writing level, but seriously?

    The only reason I gave this at least a 2 is because the gameplay is serviceable ( it doesn’t really do much different from the original game) and because the world crafting and art design is extremely masterfully done. This is easily one of the most gorgeous games to look at I have ever played.

    In conclusion, I feel extremely sorry for those who worked on this game to have people come in and completely tarnish what they poured their hearts and souls into the art assets and set pieces with horrible writing. Sony, you would be wise to do some cleaning out of naughty dog in its current iteration or I do not see things going well in the future. I have lost all trust in the current decision making at the studio level.    … Expand

    6 hours into the game have already felt anger, sadness. Literally dropped a couple tears during a scene. I can't wait to see what else waits for me. Just like the first game the last of us part 2 is going to be a emotional roller coaster

    Conversely, did you see Joel being Ellie's golf ball? Then the whole western part of the United States as well as Abby would have been burned.

    Why they feel the need to ruin everything that was once good is beyond me. Not that the first part didn’t have its faults (the player should’ve been given the choice at the end rather than be forced to kill all the doctors) but oh my this is bad!

I can´t really blame a totally change in direction if that is what the creators wanted, but i can do is just boot up a colorful and warm japanese game and see happy characters again.    … Expand

And then instead of staging the rebellion and blowing up the Death Star, Luke spends 80% of the story dealing with his new gay lover.

    Unglaubliche Details, purer Realismus. Es packt einen sofort und man findet sich direkt im TLOU Universum wieder. Nur Rockstar Games und Naughty Dog schaffen es diese Atmosphäre zu schaffen - vielen Dank für die ersten unfassbaren Stunden

    God that was awful. It just proves that graphics is not the only star in the production but the story have more weight to it especially if you pitch a game where the narrative and premise of the world is the anchor of your fandom. This was utterly disappointing and a waste of time.

    Bad story. Main character is forgotten and thrown away. Forced to play a significant chunk of the game with a stranger that had no redeeming qualities. Narrative is destroyed to appease personal political and morally reprehensible agenda. They also forced "representation" by altering a real life female to make hey less feminine in her computer render.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
