    I don't even want to call this a bad game nor disappointment, Devil may cry 2 was a bad game from the series i enjoyed so was No Man's Sky. But this? It's just pure disrespect. Honestly **** you Neil and **** your paid reviews. 9/10 my ass what a joke, if this game was standalone, i couldve gave 5/10 for the animation and memes but unfortunately it's a goddamn sequel. The characters I think were not talked about much and for people that did not play the first game they will have no clue who these characters are. Now the story for me it toke around 2 to 3 hours to start really getting to play the game. A story should not take that long to get your attention. The way they made the story just ruined it spoilers if you have not played the but Joel gets killed and the hole game is based around kill the people that killed him you kill a few characters but you don’t kill the main character that killed Joel and to make it worse you let them get away with it. I am so tired of people trying to put strong women in games that are not dealt with like in this game. This is the perfect example of how to destroy your franchise. For the rest of the game I enjoyed it but the combat is a bit bad.… Expand

    I give this game a 1 star for the good gameplay overall. But everything else is terrible. I would recommend not buying as it is a waste of time on the game after waiting so long to get this garbage of a storyline.

So I boot it up and voilà, it's EVERYTHING (and then some) that people who TRIED to warn me away from it said it was. This... political statement PRETENDING to be a game will go down in history as the defining moment when the game industryI said to myself "ok, don't feed into the negativity. This... political statement PRETENDING to be a game will go down in history as the defining moment when the game industry (publishers, developers & game media) became a conglomerate ideology-tool for the progressive left.

    PROS:
    ....................................................................................................... Oh.. The graphics in general are... really good!

    CONS:
    [1] The game is more interested in PUSHING the progressive left's redefinition of the word 'diverse' than it is in actually telling a compelling story.
    [2] All men bad... All women good
    [3] ZERO emptional stakes put forth. Not ONE. The game is as unfeeling as the idiots who made it are
    [4] Try as it might it doesn't know how to deal with the MANY conundrums that coexist within the progressive left's ideology. See, in this... "game" all men bad, all women good. But... but... The... "game" also attempts to push the "more than 2 genders" narrative (ie: conundrum)
    [5] In most games (even in this SJW, #Woke, #MeToo, ist-ism-obia, #RHEEEEE world we live in) the ending of a game has some sort of payoff. The "bad guy" gets his/hers #ComeUpings, There is some sort of emotional closure to the journey, something that simply says "the end", a wrong is righted... etc. SOMETHING. But here comes The Last of Us II. Nope, Nada, No. No closure, no nothing. Just one big pile of "Think like us or you're an ist-ism-obia, a russian bot or toxic.

    Me getting my money back for the piece of hot garbage is out of the question so I did not even try. I'll just chalk it up to Goodbye Sony, Goodbye Naughty-Dog.

    [2] I have zero problems with Ellie being gay. The shill media that is spreading that fake news also knows that is not the reason why so many disliked this PoS. That said, the irony of Ellie; All-of-a-sudden; being gay in the DLC that dropped the EXACT SAME day that Ellen Page (actress that Ellie's likeness was based on) came out to the world as gay is not lost on those with an once of common sense. No, the problem(s) I had with this... "game" was the man-shaming that occurs from beginning to end of this farce. The problem I had is making me play as some GENDER-CONFUSED Whaman who LOOKS like a man and THINKS she is a man right up until it's time for her to teach all of us how much better all women are. The problem I had is the game could not go a full 30 minutes without some sort of virtue signaling.

    MY SCORE: 1 - It gets at least a 1 from me for having the unmitigated gall to even release this nonsense and that I played all the way through.

    This... "game" was appalling and it was a waste of my money. the ONLY bright side to this fiasco is that I have quite a few people that rely on my opinion concerning games these days and so I've saved them from purchasing this crap.     Não vou dar spoiler aqui, mas vou citar minha indignação. Destruíram a história, os personagens, teve um Downgrade absurdo e só acertaram na gameplay quando tem alguma batalha...mas é raro isso acontecer porque boa parte do jogo é filme ou ficar andando!

    Cant ignore the fact that this videogame is very creative, but as a "sequel", its hard to recommend to the fanbase, its not a game that everyone can accept so easily, it divide the users and its understandable.

For example: if you wouldn't know about Dina's unshaven armpits, you'd just not noticed this moment. I'd say the same about stars of David.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. i played the last of us 1 about 4 years ago and i loved it. and it had one of the best story in video game franchise. but this game has stupid and one of the worst stories i ever seen in video games. i think the director and the one who wrote the story of this game (which i think they are same) just tried hard to induce his or her beliefs to the gamer. the story is not fun, the characters are not lovable and some of the scenes are disgusting. last of us story is the story of Joel and Ellie, and this was what makes the first game a masterpiece. for example no one can imagine next god of war without kratos! and without kratos, that game won't be a god of war any more.… Expand

    Awful characters. Awful story. You literally don't feel anything the whole game because the characters are the worst of all time. Gave 1 point for the decent graphics. Gameplay boring and ps3-era. Naughty Dog does not innovate in this title. Long, boring, awful characters, awful writing.

    I just finished the game, and I made myself do it. My wife and I are absolute massive fans of the first game and we are sitting here just completely disappointed in the story/gameplay. I’ll come back later and edit this if I can to go into more detail, but for those of you that were waiting for this.... the game is terrible. The story was terrible, as a fan of TLOU I’m at a loss for words.I just finished the game, and I made myself do it.     Every video gaming industry should learn from this event and remember who their customers are. I get the frustration of every video gamer. This game is pushing an agenda that most people are awakening up to and don’t agree with. After a few hours of gameplay, my motivation to continue playing the game is dead. Time to send the game back to Naughty Dog!!!

    Jogo lixo. Só tem lacração e história merda. Mataram o joe de um jeito mais bosta que eu já vi. Não tem como jogar com o joe na hora que ele morre e outros personagens também. Isso ai é mais um filmezinho do que jogo. A única que se salva ai é a abby, que foi muito boa, Allie é um lixo, com aquela namoradinha dela. Jogo cheio de bugs. But the story and message is weak, at some point of the game I just didn't care any more. I didn't finish the game (60%), quit playing when I realized that I would have to play for Abby (Joel's murderer) for 10 hours straight. NO!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Why does this game even exist? It couldn't be more clear that Naughty Dog never intended a followup to the first game and had no plan whatsoever for continuing the plot.

    The thing that actually makes Ellie important (her immunity...ya know, the entire driving force behind the first games plot) has no role to play in the sequel at all. Other than one or two off-hand references, it seems like the writers completely forgot that was even a thing. As a result, the game has no real plot progression at all. The world is the exact same at the end of the game as the begining. It's pointless.

    This games plot is literally like watching one of those episodes of a TV show that have a throw away story to focus on the B tier characters.....except these are supposed to be our main characters.

    I would say "at least its pretty," but Naughty Dogs gameplay is so laughably outdated and stale that you can hardly focus on the graphics through the shear tedium of it all.

    Why would you drudge up a beloved IP, then have no clue where you are going with it? Is it really too much to ask for the writers to at least pretend they know what they are doing?

    I'd give this a "0," but I am willing concede that the game does indeed start up when I select the icon.    … Expand

    It's a videogame example of how to not make a sequel. Carrying great soundtrack and visuals, this game suffers from incredibly poor plot and uninspired, clunky gameplay which leads to a path of destroying what was loved about the first one.

As far as Graphics, Audio, Characters, Voice acting its all a 10/10 on those aspects i think undeniably. With a narration that PERSONALLY i found a 10/10 and a pacing of like an 8/10 my score comes down to an overall 10/10. I recommend that you all play it because its one of the only games that i think cant be watched on a playthrough or a stream, its just not the same. And remember, any game you play is a creation of someone and in order to experience it you need to be sometimes patient and other times open minded.

    Got to day 2 and I have lost all motivation to continue. Such a shame, I really wanted to love this game, I tried, I really did. But just can’t get over the poor story and execution of it. The game looks amazing, but I’d rather play a 20 year old game with 2D graphics and an amazing story, than play TLOU2 with the story it has :( I am genuinely sad, I waited years to play this.

    Graphically it's an amazing game, some parts look absolutley stunning. Gameplay wise it's ok but i definetley wouldn't have continued playing if it wasn't tlou2. And the Story was an absolute **** The amount of plotarmor and stupid decisions done by characters is beyond me.

The Last of Us 2 has indeed Naughty Dog quality in terms of graphics, animation, world design, art, and sound. Gameplay has been tweaked and is more fun and aggressive than the last entry. Now, the negatives... to start slow we can talk about how the game has practically zero enemy variety so you will be shooting the same enemies for 25-30 hours. There are only 2 new infected, the shamblers and a pretty disgusting one that looks like it came out of Resident Evil. Now, the big bad wolf, the story... it´s bad. It´s not a revenge story because it doesn´t fulfill itself, it´s just pure hate. What made TLOU 1 great was Ellie and Joel. TLOU 2 ruins both characters by killing one and twisting another to something unrecognizable. Of all the new characters Jesse was the only salvageable. The story has brutality for brutality´s sake, so much in fact you become numb to it and don´t give a crap anymore. TLOU 2 talks about issues that have ZERO place in the apocalypse like gender identity issues and bigots. The ending was probably worse than Mass Effect 3.… Expand

    Good graphics, nice mechanics ,decent gameplay (same as the prequel), and a God Awful writing ,the story is cluttered all around with unnecessary flashbacks and tedious plot twists , the game was well crafted by excellent developers/designers and destroyed by a careless writing team .

    Exhilarating journey, tough and gut wrenching scenes, full of wholesome moments between Dina and Ellie, you sympathize much with Ellie and can almost feel her emotions, in love with the new characters and wish to see more of them all in dlc

Seriously this game just spits on the fans of the first game, and laughs while doing it. If you have to play this game just rent it, or wait a while for it to go on sale, don't pay full price for this dumpster fire.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part II is technically maybe the best game ever created. The combat and the character progression are incredible. The graphics are amazing, a NaughtyDog classic mark, and the details of the maps are astonishing. The AI is improved from the first one and the enemies are very well developed. The sensation of hitting an enemy on the head with the bow is still incredibly fun. As I said, everything technically is great, but everyone who plays TLOU plays it because of its story, and this is the part we should talk about.

    The beginning of the game reminds us the great story told on the first part, it is touching and exciting to see our favorites characters back again, especially on the guitar scenes. But the first problem appears with Joel. In the first part, Joel is skeptical, he distrusts everyone even Ellie in the beginning. But inexplicably he trusts in a stranger who is with her group, that they never heard about, in a camp beside their city. He and Tommy go there, and Joel is tortured and killed. But OK, although convenient, that is the motivation of the game. After that, Ellie parts in a journey of anger and revenge.
    Ellie´s story is actually nice, until the middle of the game. You understand her anger and as she, you want to kill Abby no matter what. The exploring in Seattle is fun and the encounters with her enemies are brutal and emotionally incredible, it seems like you are living that with her. But then starts Abby´s story.

    Before talking about Abby. I´d like to talk about the tsunami of politics implicit in the game. It seems like everything is about the politic opinion of the director. There are things forced and pass the limits in several times. Two girls having sex in the middle of a marijuana plantation in a house with a snowstorm in a zombie region, really? A girl who is discovering her sexuality, shaves her head and is pursued to the death by a religious cult (that is weirdly not explored at all in the game), like they have nothing better to worry about, like killing zombies, fighting for supplies, trying to survive a war with a highly armed rivals. Of course, homophobia is a problem in our society, but the game explores it in a wrong perspective, nothing is educative or awareness, it is all provocative and brutal. None of it is putted in the game in a soft way or scripturally convincing, everything is pushed, forced in an unnatural way. It looks like it was made to please a minor radical part of the society. Honestly, we don´t need this right now, our society is completely divided. Everything is politicized, even the brand of toilet paper. This is bad. Politics discussions are not healthy today, they are toxic and hurtful. Nobody will change their mind after playing TLOU II, it will only generate hate.
    In the first game, homosexually was treated in a perfect way. We know for seven years that Ellie is a lesbian and nobody cares, in the contrary, everybody loves her. Just because it is natural, the script is well written and it is logical that she be that way, just like Bill. In this game homosexually is treated in a provocative way, with nothing corroborating to the story, it is there just to provoke and stir up fights, adding nothing to the story. But enough of this political ****

    Now, Abby´s story. In short it is like in Harry Potter you being Voldemort. He has his reasons and, in his way, he would appear right, but it does not mean he is the hero or the good guy. It is not cool playing her side. I understand the view that the developers wanted to show, but it is not nice. The characters on this side are forgettable, with no charisma, boring. And the worst part, We have to hit Ellie, WE HAVE TO TRY TO KILL ELLIE!!! WTF??? She is a symbol of a generation, millions of people around the world loves her, we watched her growing up. I don´t want to kill her, I don´t want to play that part ever again. Maybe Abby´s part could be a DLC, I don´t know, but it just not seems right.
    Well, finally, the end of the story is at best disappointing. It is nice seeing Ellie living with Dina on an incredible ambiance, but the second part of the journey is nothing but a **** conclusion. At the end of the game, including both journeys (Seattle and St. Barbara), Ellie kills HUNDREDS of people, most of them INNOCENTS, hundreds of infected and several DOGS to arrive at the beach and LET ABBY GO. WTF?? In short, everything you do in the game, everyone that dies in the game, EVERY 30 **** HOURS YOU SPEND PLAYING THIS **** IS POINTLESS!!!

    Jesse dies
    Tommy is **** up and lost his marriage
    Ellie doesn´t end with Dina
    Ellie doesn´t get her revenge
    Ellie can´t play guitar anymore.

    OK, I was not hoping for a good end, but I was not hoping to be so disappointed with this game, that I´ve waited for 7 years.

    Very disappointed I was definitely going to buy this game I even ignored the leaks and what was being said but because I use metacritic uses score as guidance to my purchases I will never play the game naughty dog have deceived the fanbase to the much beloved first I'm not going to play 10 hours of another character sorry.

Last of us was a great game, you build relationships with the characters and you care about them and the struggles they have endured. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the sequel and see what challenges we would come up against.

    Then I play this thing, this pile of absolute dog crap. Thank god I could get a refund as I don’t want my money funding this tripe.

    They crap all over one of the main characters of the previous game, the scene was barbaric and just wrong in all ways possible.
    No it’s not thought provoking, it’s just bad and after that who the hell cares what happens next.

    Avoid at all cost, ignore the main media reviews if you want to keep fond memories of The last of us just play the first one’s

In my opinion the story was great,the environments were great, characters were great, and the gameplay was the best that I have played in years. A lot of people dont like this game because of the way Joel was killed, but in my opinion it made sense and I was not disappointed in the way Joel died. Many people complained that you had to play as Abby and you were forced to sympathise with her in the second half, I loved this part of the game almost more than playing as Ellie. The second half made me go from hating Abby as a character to actually liking her. Her relationship with Lev reminded me a lot of Joel and Ellies relationship in the first game. I have read many other user reviews for this game and many are making the argument that the game has a political agenda when this is not true. People in real life are lesbian so it would make sense that 2 of the many characters in this game are lesbian, some people are transgender in real life so it would make sense for a single character to also be transgender. In this game the number of straight people is greater than the number of gay/transgender people, just like in the real world. I played the first game when it released in 2013 and thought it was amazing. The Last of Us 1 is still my favorite game of all time and I think that it was slightly better than this game but this game is still a 10 for me. After the games story was leaked I thought that the game would be bad just like most people but I held onto hope that it would be good. I preordered the game and it was worth every penny. I made sure to play the full game first and I played new game plus and the game is better each time I played through it.     And to the bad part: gameplay is outdated and superrepetative, dialogues are disgusting, scenario is't bad, on the first look, but so much predicrable and lazy, it keeps pressuring the feelings of non-smart audience all the time, no realism in story(not about gameplay), the absolute most of characters(incuding our "lovely" Ellie) are as flat as the chest of my 2D girlfriend.
    CONSIDERING this game is highly overrated by "press" and widely-known and popular i can give the Last of US game just 3. Yes, this game has some moments, strong direction and really works with emotion, on the other hand gameplay is trash, everything about content(complicated content, plot, narrative direction) is superbad, considering cheap manipulations and endless subsidiary to anything talented we have a fitting sequel to "classic" The Last of Us of 2013 game. Neil Druckmann keeps his level and even rises above.

    Middling gameplay, great graphics, bad story. Over the years, this game has become outdated and there are too few innovations compared to part 1. Also, TLoU 1 was cool due to a good story, in 2 it failed.
    If there were more variability in the game, at least the choice at the end, I would rate 7/10.

I also didn’t think that I would play half of the game for Abby unknown to me (I couldn’t penetrate this character). And the ending pleasantly surprised and even shocked me, on the one hand it looks like some kind of arthouse, but on the other it’s quite interesting and open to continue ending. But because of Ellie’s last act, I was furious because I thought that I had been playing for 30 hours in vain for such a result.     It is not the story we want, but a story we need. Video game story telling has come a long way and this game is proof of that. It has repetitive gameplay and visuals are gorgeous. It has a message that everybody needs to know regarding these beloved characters. Try this game out and see how a video game makes you feel intense emotions like never before.

Once I heard the leaks i didn't wasn’t to play the game at all but once I watched a little bit of gameplay, I found that the game wasn’t nearly as bad as the leaks made it seem. However, the ending for the game and the Abby half of the game were not enjoyable. When I play games I look for the story in the moment of play. I don’t try to look for any messages the story is trying to convey or hidden messages and I think that’s why I liked The Last of Us Part 2 more than most people. But I still didn’t like the ending of the game or the Abby scenes after Joel’s death. I feel like the entire point of the game was ruined by the ending. Ellie wanted revenge on the people that killed Joel but in the end she doesn’t even follow through with it. I would have much rather had an ending in which when Ellie is drowning Abby, she keeps having flashbacks of Joel and reminding herself why she was doing this and why she hunted Abby down. Then when Abby is dead, the kid she was with says “Abby, get up” just like Ellie said to Joel in the beginning of the game. Then at the end of the game in the farmhouse, after finding nobody is there, there should be a small clip of Ellie on the hills near Jackson walking towards the city, so the game goes full circle with the revenge tale and we get some closure on Dina and JJ because the game never says what happens to them. In my playthrough of the game, I had the most enjoyment from the first half as Ellie and the few scenes as Abby. I thought gameplay was fun and the story was good as well. The second half as Abby is when I started to enjoy the game the least. The player is forced to play as a character that they do not like at all and then to top all of that off, the gets to live in the ending. She killed Joel, she killed Jesse, she would’ve killed Dina if the kid didn’t say anything, she almost killed Tommy, and she broke Ellie’s arm and the game is telling me that Ellie had a change of heart after all that Abby did. It is the most unsatisfying end to a game that is a sequel to one of the best written single player stories of all time: The Last of Us. One of the most iconic video game duos gets shattered in this game with the death of Joel and he doesn’t get justice. It’s so disappointing to see where the writers decided to go with this game. There apparently is going to be a multiplayer for the game (why it didn’t come out at launch is beyond me) and that is the only reason I will be keeping the game installed on my console. In the end, gameplay for me is an 8/10, it’s easy to understand and can be quite enjoyable especially if you like the first games gameplay. However it can be repetitive (with the stealth takedowns and such) but that doesn’t take away from the experience that much. Story is a solid 5/10. Joel’s death is poorly written. LegacyKillaHD in his YT video “The People Vs. The Last of Us Part 2” said it perfectly. Joel in the first game was all about caution and taught Ellie about it but in the sequel when it comes to a complete group of strangers he willingly gives up his actual name knowing that someone would eventually come after him for what he did. Not to repeat myself but the first half as Ellie is the best part of the game and will be the most enjoyable part for anyone who plays the game. The second half just tries to humanize Abby but that’s impossible to do to a character who just killed one of the most beloved protagonists in gaming. This game doesn’t deserve any praise in storytelling and it shows, people are petitioning for NaughtyDog to rewrite the story to the game and I don’t blame them. This game is a solid 5/10. The gameplay is there but the story isn’t and that’s the main reason people buy single player experiences.… Expand

    - Characters motivations and inconsistency with the world environment. It's so hard to get a favorable situation in game world, but for anything the characters throw everything away. Example: a character crosses the city in the middle of a civil war and kills 100 people on a journey that the chance of survival is minimal just to have a 30 minute sex with a guy that she rejected several times.
    - Combat. It didn't improve anything compared to the 2013 game.
    - Lack of consistency with physics. A 19-year-old girl weighing 110 pounds is stronger than a beefy 200 pounds guy. Ellie's body composition does not allow her to do a pull up, but in game she has Kratos' strength.

We don't wanna see unplayable animations, we wanna play the game.I hope Naughty Dog learns something from santa monica studios or capcom. RE2 Remake is more better survival game than this, and the last God of War shows everebody that changing game mechanics won't hurt.     The game is not the same. The developers did a great job, but they ruined everything with same-sex relationships, there is no pity for the characters. There are no jokes that were in the first part. Joel and Ellie had a special relationship, and the new Duo looks pathetic. But this game is a technological breakthrough and I would advise you to buy this game, the Studio produces great games

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all, I don't understand how people are giving this game a 0, but I understand why they gave a 10, because this game is not for everyone, not everyone would like it, i can understand that.

    1- The way they treated Joel in this game is very but very bad, if they wanted to kill him, atleast they would give him a decent death to the character;
    2- Buried one of the most iconic characters in a video game, because of a stupid narrative error;
    3- Abby's revenge and her character is very poorly achieved, which later dictated a very poor game thread;
    4- The male characters were totally demoted and pressed (hence the death of joel, jesse, isaac, manny and owen) and Tommy disappears almost the entire game.
    5- Narrative of this game is very badly achieved, playing with a character almost 10 hours, character that nobody or most would not like.

    A game that promised so much, in my opinion it turned out to be not only the video game with the worst narrative and message I've ever played, but also the game that most disappointed me in my 21 years of life. While The Last of Us 1 was iconic and the best game I have ever played, it is pure sadness that I rate this game on a note that I would never think to give.

    This game was everything I dreamed of, what a fantastic world, spoiled by a story and a very poorly achieved message.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
