    Great graphics, probably the best looking game on PS4. Hollow, repetitive, clichè story that assumes the player is an idiot. Misleading trailers just to subvert expectations, virtue signalling forced in to the narrative.

    I understand what Naughty Dog were going for, trying to incorporate the bleakness of real life in to the game, where there’s no heroes, no happy endings, no adventure.    Great graphics, probably the best looking game on PS4. Hollow, repetitive, clichè story that assumes the player is an idiot. Misleading trailers just to subvert expectations, virtue signalling forced in to the narrative.

    I understand what Naughty Dog were going for, trying to incorporate the bleakness of real life in to the game, where there’s no heroes, no happy endings, no adventure. But, people play games for heroes and adventure, this is the wrong medium for these views. People play games for escapism, not to be lectured like a documentary.

    What should have been GOTY, fails to be a good 'game'. The story fails, the gameplay, while an improvement on the first game, didn’t improve enough.

    This game just reeks of missed potential, what should have been ‘Breaking Bad’ turned out to be ‘Game of Thrones Season 8’ or the new Star Wars movies.

    This game was just eh. The plotline was absolutely terrible it was just not what we wanted. We wanted more Joel and Ellie. We wanted to see how the story would continue after Joel lied to Ellie. But no **** that. Let’s just skip 5 years ahead and introduce a bunch of characters that we don’t care about. I found myself liking the game at the beginning but overtime it felt boring. There was some really cool scenes and Joel making a dad joke made me smile so much, but besides that it was just eh... This game is just okay it’s not as bad as everyone is saying it is just mediocre. A huge wasted opportunity and a huge disappointment especially since it was from naughty dog. (Spoiler) also they killed ****ing Joel. When that happened it was like my heart was split into two. He meant so much to me and was such a good character. But they just decided to kill him off for the sake of a plot... If they wanted to kill someone off maybe make it Dina or Tommy. That would’ve been way better than killing Joel. I would’ve loved to see Joel and Ellie team up again and travel around searching for the killer of Dina and Tommy. I just have no interest of doing it with Dina and Ellie. One of my favorite parts of the last of us was the amazing father and daughter relationship between Ellie and Joel. But in conclusion this game is just okay it’s kinda fun but I ****ing hate naughty dog for killing Joel. If they do make a last of us part 3 it should just be **** the last of us 2 and completely ignore that the game existed and continue from where the last of us part 1 ended. I love the last of us so much and to see this game turn out like this just kills me.… Expand

    The game is fantastic. Naughty Dog has crafted an emotionally provocative story. The characters have depth and are sincere. Ignore the reviews trashing the game. There is no agenda in the game. The only agenda is from people that can't handle the reality that something other than heteronormative exists.

    1. Too much walking simulator. 2. Way too many cut-scenes. 3. Story is bad, makes no sense and feels like an 'anti-gamer' Twitter screed. 4. Characters are bad.     В общем, игра мне кажется слишком переоцененной. Слишком!
    Я провел в игре примерно 7 часов и всё, я больше не хочу в неё возвращаться. Проблема не в повестке даже, а в самом геймплее. Я не могу продолжать играть и мне скучно.

    Сперва пройдемся по базе: в игре вкусная графика, но нет какой-то революционной механики. Это всё то, что я уже видел в первой части. Не того я ждал.
    История очень плохая в том плане, что я не смог за чуть ли не весь день привязаться хоть к одному персонажу. У меня отвращение ко всем. Единственный персонаж, к которому я привязан еще с первой части - Джоэл, но Нил Дракманн и вся компания NaughtyDog просто идиоты, которые не смогли даже правильно попрощаться с самым глубоким персонажем серии. Я хотел кинуть геймпад в монитор за то, что я не перестал лить слезы, а Элли уже фиолетово на смерть и она просто на эмоциях кого-то убивает, просто потому что она злится и будто забыла на что, как типичная баба (да, они часто начинают злиться и потом забывают на что злились, поверьте). Ей было похуй на смерть Джоэла. Всю серию игры ненавидел и буду ненавидеть Элли!    … Expand

    TLOU2 is still a solid game. Having played through it in it's entirety, I can say that more or less with confidence. However, the story feels off. Forced upon us. Characters make uncharacter-like decisions for the sole purpose of furthering the disjointed narrative being written for us. Of course, the demises of certain main ensemble characters is upsetting, but if a game portrays them inTLOU2 is still a solid game. The deaths in this game felt so utterly heavy-handedly forced down my throat I shut it off and left for a bit.

    It is extremely obvious to fans of the first game that the writing has veered off into something else entirely this go-round. It's upsetting to see actual user reviews being ignored, and only have the large gaming journalists reviews be considered "valid" Meanwhile, when average gamers like myself try to explain our vastly different experiences with the game, we're considered "bots" or "review-bombs" or we're upset because of the sexual orientations of characters withing the game. This is insulting.

    TLOU2 is a solid game. However, it doesn't advance the story, the graphics, or the gameplay enough after as long as it spent in the oven. The game devs should be proud of the work they put in.

What Naughty Dog decided to not only do to the characters but what they did with the heart of the game is pure stupidity. The first game was a bleak, dark world with a light of humanity at its heart. This game just uses beloved characters to ram a cult ideology down your throat with zero humanity orFantastic graphics and decent gameplay are completely over shadowed by the garbage story. What Naughty Dog decided to not only do to the characters but what they did with the heart of the game is pure stupidity. The first game was a bleak, dark world with a light of humanity at its heart. This game just uses beloved characters to ram a cult ideology down your throat with zero humanity or heart aside from one flashback. It’s done with malice and hate, ending with hopelessness.     Another masterpiece from Naughtydog! The gameplay loop is engaging and enjoyable the entire time, the environments are open enough to make you feel like you have freedom. The visuals are the best I've ever seen, and it's using 7 year ild hardware. The story is amazing too! Telling an heartfelt story of revenge and how anyone can be seen as a villain when you only get half the story.

I’m not just some fan that’s watched a bunch of YouTube videos coming here to throw around ‘SJW’ and give it a 1/10. This game is great. Not comparable to the first, but great. The main big gripe I see with most reviews is the death of Joel. If you played the game, you would know why Joel met his demise. Put yourself in Abby’s shoes. If someone killed your father, you would go out of your way to end this persons life. That is exactly what Abby did, and in a way she’s justified in her actions even though I do have love for Joel. Joel killed her father. Abbys entire backstory is painted throughout the entirety game, so you come to understand why she feels the way she does. At the beginning of the game, I hated her. But throughout the game as you play through her sections, her backstory is fleshed out so you get a better understanding of her actions and reasonings. I came to like her almost as much as Ellie by the final scene. Joel was selfish for killing everyone at the hospital to save Ellie, but I also understand why he did. Also, for the plotholes. The only one I keep seeing is about Ellie wearing a gas mask. Again, if you played the game, you would understand because this is brought up about halfway through the game. Joel tells Ellie to always keep her mask on near spores Incase they run into another survivor. Ellie’s immunity is still a secret in this game. Towards the end of the game, after playing as both Ellie and Abby for hours and hours, I came to sympathize with the both of them. They were both doing what they thought was right because of the death of a loved one, even though Abby kept sparing Ellie’s life but Ellie could not let it go and kept going on her revenge quest which eventually in the end made her lose most things she loved. I felt bad for Ellie towards the end, but that was the predicament she kept putting herself and the people around her in over and over again.     If you liked the first game, you'll hate this one. If you haven't played the first game then the only reason you might want to play this one is if you're a masochist or if you want to support a really bad game developer that mistreats its fans very badly.

    This game is like you're playing Wolfenstein, you kill all the nazis and then get face to face to Adolf Hitler, but then decides you don't want to kill him anymore and the game ends with Blazkowicz and Hitler as friends, this is The Last of Us 2.

    I was playing Death Stranding. Then I was playing Days Gone before this one.
    It feels like a terrible downgrade,
    Graphically the lightning is terrible in dark/interiors most of the time, robotic characters, facial expressions and movements, I keep seeing so many defects maybe because I was playing those 2 other games before and I was used to them. And lastly, the storyline, the whole    I was playing Death Stranding. Then I was playing Days Gone before this one.

    I was and remain a huge fan of the original The Last of Us. It was one of my favorite games of last generation and Joel and Ellie are two of my favorite game characters of all time. The Last of Us Part 2 spits on these two great character's legacy as well as in the faces of fans of the original.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. In 2013 Naughty Dog and Neil Druckmann introduced us to the thrilling world of The Last of Us. An action-adventure game with some survival horror touches, one of the best stories ever told in games, incredible characters and immersive gameplay. After 7 years they give us The Last of Us Part 2, and they hoped that it would surpass, as most sequels, it's predecessor.

    The Last of Us Part 2 preserves, and even improves, some elements of the original game, adding dynamics such as jumping, the use of ropes and a better enemy A.I. This can make anyone think that this new game will deliver to its expectations. However, this is only during the first hour and a half. If we evaluate this section of the game, we will find a very dynamic and organic game with one of the best opening scenes of this generation, even worthy of a prize for Baker and Johnson.

    It was a very good game until new characters were included such as Abby, a member of one of the new factions, the WLF, who seeks vengeance against Joel as he killed her father in the first game. Here is where the game starts flopping, as the introduction of these new characters seems forced and inorganic. Naughty Dog's idea was to make us empathize with them, but their background story, dialogues and performances are so dull that makes it difficult to do it. In addition to this, Joel becomes nothing more than an NPC with short dialogues and scenes that, in spite of a marvelous performance by Troy Baker, feels disrespectful to the main character of the original game. Joel was not the only character that suffered in this game as his brother Tommy is shown as weak and doubtful.

    After playing for some hours, it becomes inevitable to notice the lack of chemistry between Ellie, Abby and their corresponding partners such as Lev, Yara, Dina and Jesse. Their dialogues become repetitive, boring and even dumb. The environments are so big that one can think there will be puzzles like in the first game. However, the development team got rid of all the puzzles and some exploration that made the first game great, making part 2 more lineal and boring.

    Then, we get to Seattle and find ourselves with improved environments, filled with so many enemies that it becomes inevitable to start shooting and killing to that extent that it becomes even gory and perturbing. Perhaps Druckmann's idea was to make us feel bad about killing and revenge, but this is only delivered in a couple scenes where Ellie kills some secondary characters, including a pregnant woman. Was it worth it? I would not say so.

    As a game, The Last of Us Part 2 revolves around revenge, and how bad it is, as premise. However, the lack of depth in the development of some characters, and the story itself, makes it a total flop for Sony, and Naughty Dog, who gave us their worst game since Uncharted 3. I mean, as an independent game from the franchise it's good, but it is not for a the last of us game.

    Finally, one has to praise the technical part of the game as it gives us the best graphics of this generation, and Gustavo Santaolalla's work in the music is perfect. Nevertheless, the set of modifications made to the gameplay, as well as the boring and rushed story, makes this game one of the biggest disappointments of the gaming industry. When I learned I get to play as the **** that killed one of the most beloved characters, you bet I was trying to speedrun that part. The game is an authentic wonder, killing one of the most beloved characters in video games was a risky bet, most of the negative notes are governed by the latter. At first I also fell into rage, but upon discovering the true reason for his murder and the things that we ourselves did in the previous video game, everything is justified ... However, I am not pleased that we use so long Abby's person. I believe that in this aspect one could leave only the missions of remembering the past. My final grade is 10/10, it fully deserves it.… Expand

Not because of poor gameplay, or poor graphics, or poor animation, or poor soundtrack, or bad lighting, because these factors are not only substantial but in some cases (graphics, lighting and animation) extraordinary. The reason this game sucks is because of poor storytelling. Ultimately, what is fundamental in determining if this type of solo game is worth rating as great is not the gameplay or the visuals or the soundtrack but it’s the story. Without a great story the player has no motivation to engage in the game. So regardless if the gameplay is fun it is kind of pointless if the player has no motivation to play it.

    The story sucks because of the following big reasons, although there are many smaller, more specific reasons that I won’t get into. The first being: absolutely terrible pacing. This game takes no time to reintroduce previous characters and does not take the time to develop new characters in a way that allows the player to understand and empathise with their decisions. The main plot points which occur are thrown together and feel contrived because of the moral agenda that the developers are trying to push which is that revenge leads to a cycle of inescapable and immoral violence. Ellie’s new love interest is thrown in at the start and we’re expected to care about her just because Ellie has the hots for her. We’re expected as a player to want to fight alongside her and care about their relationship despite totally boring character development and dialogue.

    Which is the second point, although well acted and realistic, the dialogue is so painfully boring throughout most of the game and it is painful to have to listen to their cute little conversations when your only motivation (if you can find any) is hatred after they kill off the main playable character from the first game less than 3 hours in. When you are fuelled by hate and not the hopeful goal which the first game had, it can be difficult to listen to dina’s trash jokes and the two girls flirting while zombies and people try to shoot, stab and consume them.

    The third big reason has to be the disrespect done to Joel. I mean they literally spit on his bloodied corpse. I don’t have a problem with killing characters or “sad parts” in stories. My issue is that they kill this character so early in the game, using the most wicked methods possible and it is done by a new character that we don’t give a crap about. And you’re forced to play as that character later in the game. It doesn’t even make sense how they kill him. The whole of the first game Joel doesn’t trust anyone. He spots an ambush like an absolute pro, it was even used in one of the trailers for the original. He is not a man that gets led into one of these situations and yet he ended up there because the develops just had to kill off the men because this is a game about WAHMEN.

    And that’s the fundamental flaw with this game. Not that the female characters take the lead. Not that there is a gay relationship. The problem is that the developers were clearly so obsessed with representing those groups in this game that it completely clouded what could have otherwise been a great story. Their politics, their agenda, their prejudice got in the way of their ability as storytellers. It forced them to kill Joel because he’s an old white man. It forced them to make the journey about these two girls and their dull, underdeveloped relationship and it forced them to have the antagonist (who isn’t really even an antagonist) as a completely unbelievable female character that is either trans or an impossible occurrence. I mean, no woman has that level of muscle and if she is trans or genetically dispositioned, couldn’t you at least explain that to us? Why is she built like a bodybuilder? Is she on roids? If so, how did she get them during an apocalypse? Is she genetically deformed? How did that affect her growing up? I mean, please explain your insane choices at least. Anyway, I’m into ranting now. This game is a 4/10. 5/10 at a push if you love this type of one man army gameplay. Save your money. Replay the first.    … Expand

    Game play is good just about the same as the original. My only problem is killing a character just to kill a character and have no conclusion to his death. Dina would have been a much better character to kill and give Ellie a reason to avenge a death and spark a side story to allow you to play as Joel to go an try to stop her.    … Expand

    AND TO THE REVIEW:
    Good parts(not so many): direction, acting, some good moments in story and storytelling(just moments). I really liked Abby(everything made to make her look like that) and her friends(Owen, Manny) is fine too.
    And to the bad part: gameplay is outdated and superrepetative, dialogues are disgusting, scenario is't bad, on the first look, but so much predicrable and lazy, it keeps pressuring the feelings of non-smart audience all the time, no realism in story(not about gameplay), the absolute most of characters(incuding our "lovely" Ellie) are as flat as the chest of my 2D girlfriend.
    CONSIDERING this game is highly overrated by "press" and widely-known and popular i can give the Last of US game just 3. Yes, this game has some moments, strong direction and really works with emotion, on the other hand gameplay is trash, everything about content(complicated content, plot, narrative direction) is superbad, considering cheap manipulations and endless subsidiary to anything talented we have a fitting sequel to "classic" The Last of Us of 2013 game. Neil Druckmann keeps his level and even rises above.

    The gameplay have improved substantially. The motion capture and graphics are so good that made me uncomfortable sometimes. They used to say that the first game was cinematic, this one is a Classic Movie already, the multiple time lines and narratives make the story greater, better and deeper. GOTY

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
