    People are mad that this game “throws away everything the first game leads up to” but it does not at all. The story doesn’t pick up where you’d expect it to but over the course of the game you’re brought up to speed on what happened in between where the first game leaves off and this game picks up.     And other point, do NOT put politics in videogames and you could be thinking “omg he is an absolute homophobic guy and thats why he hates the game” but no, avery single character in the game could be heterosexual and the game will be worse, because everyone has a determinated personality, since the first game Ellie has been lesbian and we Love that because its part of her personality, but everything you do in this game is just throw it all to the trash like Joel and I think the developers of the game just wanted to make every one politically “happy” and just absolutely ignore all the fandom they had.

    Hey did you know that revenge is bad? Well if you didn't, maybe 20 hours of janky 3rd person shooting and uninspired stealth gameplay will change your mind. Don't worry about the puzzles, you can turn those off.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There was a correct way to write this story, using all the same character deaths and plot points. There was a correct way to make Abby more sympathetic of a character, by making the player play through more of the immediate aftermath of Joel's actions at the end of The Last of Us. If we had to play through 3-4 hours of a young Abby dealing with her father's death alone, the fall of the fireflies alone, her struggles with the Seraphites and joining the WLF alone all before the point where she killed Joel it would've added more tension to her first meeting with Joel, it would've given the player time to understand Abby's grief and rage. Instead it rushes all of its character development, wastes so much potential between Abby and Lev (the only character other than Yara that I actually liked and had sympathy for, at least among Abby's crew). Even Joel's burial is rushed, no broken Ellie and Tommy giving a eulogy. The only parts of this story which they actually took the time to flesh out were the Dina/Ellie romance, which I quite liked, and the Joel/Ellie flashbacks. I don't know how seven years can go by with this little character development going on, maybe there were too many ideas on the table that got scrapped, or maybe it is just plain laziness but this game's graphics and gameplay were ready for release; the story was premature. Too much shock value, Abby is too ruthless and feels too invulnerable in her play style for the player to actually see her as anything other than a brute who cheats with a comrade's boyfriend, almost knowingly kills a pregnant girl (thank god for Yara speaking some sense into her).

    The writers need to take a good hard look at themselves and the reaction to the story that is happening, yes some people are bigots and trashing it for bigoted reasons but I have read many reviews here and for every 1 bigoted review I see 9 disappointed fans. I now know I can't trust the reviews of critics or the trailers of Naughty Dog in their next release. I only wish now that I could have seen the version of TLoU 2 that Bruce Starley would've co-directed and Amy Hennig would've co-wrote. My heart goes out to all of the voice actors, artists, coders, and animators that have seen their hard work wasted on this weak shell of a story.

    Neil Druckmann needs to do some soul searching for what he's really trying to accomplish as a writer, there's pushing the limits of story telling and then there's relishing in butchery, butchering character development, butchering beloved characters, and butchering the fanbase.    … Expand

Imagine criticizing a video game just because you feel like it, I only read reviews from people who after 10 minutes of playing gives a 0 for who knows what reason. People have no idea what's behind the development of a video game, and giving zero to such a game is proof of that. Let's start from the technical side of the game: simply flawless, very high quality gameplay, attention to detail never seen before in a video game, all to create a unique gaming experience. I see people complaining about the plot, it may not be at the level of the first title, for various reasons, such as the fact that it is no longer a novelty (often the sequel has a slightly flatter plot) or the fact that Naughty Dog has tried to insert a new main character, but seeing people complaining that there are holes in the plot or that it is all about revenge and that the actions of the characters do not make sense, is equivalent to not understanding the topics covered by this title, nor have any idea how human beings think; because coincidentally behind these works there are studies by industry experts. The main theme is certainly revenge, but the evolution of the plot and the behavior of the charcaters contains a set of emotions that go far beyond simple revenge. The game is impeccable, whether you like it or not, but the quality of the product is undeniable, and i loved the gameplay and the story too, because you know what? that's exaclty how people would behave in such situation. A solid 10 for this masterpiece, Naughty Dog never misses a shot.
    PS: Oh yeah maybe people doesen't know that TLOU is the story of Ellie and not of Joel.    … Expand

I definitely can understand people being upset with Ellie’s decision at the end of the game to leave Abby alive yet, I also can understand why she did what she did and i feel like many are blind to that. Overall the stealth and gameplay is extremely well done and graphics are more than breathtaking. Though this game didn’t leave me with the same feeling as the first one did in its conclusion it is memorable and can truly be seen as a game about hate but also forgiveness.… Expand

I am heartbroken they took such a fantastic story and spit right in its face along with all the fans that held the game near and dear coming into this one.     The game looks beautiful, plays pretty well but it’s more boring than watching paint dry. I turned it off and I started playing MLB 20 instead. Setting 65 bucks on fire would have been less of a waste of money.

Вообщем я хотел бы начать с самого начала, прежде всего игра мне сильно понравилась не считая некоторых аспектов, в самом начале убили Джоэла что мне ну абсолютно не понравилось, вот когда ты играешь в эту игру с каждым моментом тебе не дают желаемого, тебя просто насилуют. Эбби сделали максимально отвратной как с внешней стороны так и с плана характера. Когда в первой части тебя знакомили с новыми персонажами то сейчас разработчики просто берут и каждого поочерёдно сливают. В самом начале игры Элли - красивая, умная девушка которая живёт в поселении с приёмным отцом и их никто не трогает. После чего разработчики решили начать с того что показали тебе как будет проходить твой следующий геймплей, а это - когда ты играешь представим открываешь дверь в комнату где бьют Джоэла то тебя берут хватают и просто не дают никакой возможности им помешать, ну вот даже сам захват Джоэла в плен заключался в том что ему даже не дали шанса как то противостоять. Вообщем на протяжении всей игры Эбби пиздит Элли говоря что "Вот ваш любимый персонаж пришёл мстить за ключевого героя в Тлоу1, а мы просто ее изабьем". Вот даже сцена в театре. Эбби пробралась в театр и после чего: Оставила инвалидом Томми, убила друга Элли. Идёт битва и что в итоге?? МЫ ОПЯТЬ ЛЕЖИМ НА ПОЛУ И СМОТРИМ КАК ИЗБИВАЮТ ДИНУ..... На такой ноте я не знаю какой хэппи энд уже можно было бы вытянуть, но я думаю что то сделать можно было. После битвы: Элли и Дина живут в доме с малышом. И тут я понял как же все потеряно... И тут, меня бы устроила даже концовка как Томми убивает эбби либо один, либо с Элли. Но нет, Элли берет и отпускает Эбби, то за что были фактически отданы человеческие жизни просто просрано у одного берега. Чувство у меня от этой игры как будто тебя просто выбросили на трассу и забыли.… Expand

    There's a great quote by film maker, David Lynch, as to whether any of his movies give a message to his audience, and he responded, 'If I wanted to give a message, I'd send a telegram".

    Herein lies the problem with 'The Last Of Us 2'. Rather than follow a cohesive narrative, built upon the deep characterisation and story arc which TLOU1 had, TLOU2 is more of a vehicle for 'in your face' virtue signalling, identity and gender politics - at the sacrifice of story and your knowledge of the characters and their previous actions.

    Fans were baited-and-switched with promotional videos, showing Joel saying various lines and aged to portray he was taking a bigger part of the role. Sadly, in today's climate for a particular type of lead character - he's sacrificed on the 'stunning and brave' altar early in the game.

    The writing and characterisation of the Joel and Ellie flashbacks feel wooden and flat: I recognised the 3d models and voices, but their interactions and conversations were alien to me and one-dimensional.

    The game includes a transgender bed scene which is so out of place and 'forced' (to coin a phrase into the story - it's almost as if Druckman included it solely for virtue points over it having some progression of story and character.

    You then play as Abby for the rest of the story and there was not enough there to make me feel immersed in this character. The ending was a grind and will leave players unsatified and cheated .

    El primer TLOU ya estaba muy sobrevalorado, era sobresaliente en lo realista y bien construidos que estaban los personajes de la trama y en la banda sonora, además de un buen apartado visual, pero nada mas, a nivel jugable era mediocre, un juego simple, lineal, lleno de scripts, videos y muchos momentos de "walking simulator", nada en lo que destacara, mas bien    Es una BASURA. 1/10.

    El primer TLOU ya estaba muy sobrevalorado, era sobresaliente en lo realista y bien construidos que estaban los personajes de la trama y en la banda sonora, además de un buen apartado visual, pero nada mas, a nivel jugable era mediocre, un juego simple, lineal, lleno de scripts, videos y muchos momentos de "walking simulator", nada en lo que destacara, mas bien lo contrario con cosas vergonzosas como la regeneración de botellas y ladrillos, además de contar con una historia genérica (que hacen interesante esos personajes que fueron los mejores hechos en un juego) por eso le di en su momento un 6/10. Pues bien, este TLOU2 es lo mismo, no mejora las taras de TLOU pero además destruye cosas buenas del original. Lo de menos ya es que este juego se haya usado para lavar cerebros insertando basura ideológica, es que es un mal juego con o sin esa basura; TLOU no necesitaba secuela y de seguir con los mismos personajes se veía venir de lejos el desastre. La incoherencia la tienen los que sobrevaloraron al primer TLOU, que no era tan bueno, ese era mediocre y esta innecesaria secuela es peor, de suspenso. ¡Siete años de desarrollo para esto! vergonzoso, los juegos AAA no tienen futuro, si este tipo de basuras requieren tanto tiempo y presupuesto, esto no es viable y es un disparate; obras maestras se han hecho en 12 meses, 7 años esta basura, lo dice todo de la decadencia de los AAA.

    PD: Anda que no tienen JETA los individuos y los medios digitales que descalifican a estos analisis de usuarios hablando de "review bombing" ¿y que adjetivos le ponemos a la casi unanimidad y a todos los 10 gratuitos de la prensa? esto no les molesta por lo que parece, SON UNOS CINICOS. El tiempo demostrará que esto no es solo un "review bombing" por motivos ideológicos o similares, este juego no se va a recuperar porque es malo objetivamente, y nunca ningún otro exclusivo de ninguna compañía ha recibido esta dureza. Ahora bien el juego funcionará a nivel comercial, no tengo dudas, el nivel cultural y de exigencia del videojugador es bajísimo, se demuestra cada año con los juegos que mas venden.    … Expand

The writing is a major step down from the last game, and the story it does try to tell is bare, and utterly cliched. "Revenge is bad", yeah you don't say. But the thing is, Abby couldn't show sympathy, why should Ellie? Abby is painted as a bad character from the start, AND SHE IS! She never actually redeems herself. And don't even get me started on the major step down already well-written characters received. Joel suddenly lost all of his years of experience as a survivor, AND THAT GOT HIM KILLED! This is my first time reviewing a game here, and I'm going to be fair. I'll split the game into two categories: Story / Narrative, and gameplay. Graphics are nice but don't make the game any more enjoyable so I won't add that to the review. Story: 0/5 - Gameplay: 4/5. In total, this game comes out at a total disappointing score of 4/10. Great job Naughty Dog. Completely un-enjoyable game. How did I sit through 20 hours of a good franchise's murder?… Expand

    I liked it overall. Yest at some points story was "What?" but when i look back on all of it I think it is a great plot and an amazing message. I really like how the vengeance consumed both Abby and Ellie but they managed to pull themselves back even though they lost people along the way and I think that's the reason they pulled themselves back because vengeance just caused them more pain.I liked it overall. When the leaks came out, I lost all hope and the heavy "fanboys" who are sucking Naughty Dog (*cough* Breakthrough and Tajae *cough*) are just White Knights and same for the "critics". For me, the gameplay, music, sounds, and visuals are amazing, and another for me, the Infected were the best, they felt like they had more personalities thanThis game didn't disappoint on disappointing me. The story isn't special, so are the characters. Trying to build Abby and her friends hours after they killed Joel, and making us feel for them in a **** way, was totally wrong. I was happy when all of her friends died, even when it was supposed to be "emotional". They also make Lev a large subplot, even though what she was going through has NOTHING to do with the world of last of us. I have no problem for lgbt rep, if anything, Bill in the first Last of Us was great, same for the DLC, but this time, shoving it in our faces isn't the way. Along with a ****ty ending, first, Abby kills Joel in front of Ellie, Kills Jesse, almost kills Tommy, breaks her arm, beats Dina's face in almost cutting her throat, and bites two of her fingers off, just to have a small memory of Joel, and letting her go. For a sequel that was 1000000 percent anticipated, it delivered a large disappointment. I enjoyed the flashbacks with Joel, but they always ended up in showing what he did, that justifies his death. We all knew he was gonna die but like this? It's just bad. If you like the new Star Wars trilogy and the last two seasons for Game of Thrones, buy this game. If you love the characters from the first game, a good plot, and hope that no social politics will be shoved in your face, DON'T buy this game.… Expand

I’m not just some fan that’s watched a bunch of YouTube videos coming here to throw around ‘SJW’ and give it a 1/10. This game is great. Not comparable to the first, but great. The main big gripe I see with most reviews is the death of Joel. If you played the game, you would know why Joel met his demise. Put yourself in Abby’s shoes. If someone killed your father, you would go out of your way to end this persons life. That is exactly what Abby did, and in a way she’s justified in her actions even though I do have love for Joel. Joel killed her father. Abby's entire backstory is painted throughout the entirety game, so you come to understand why she feels the way she does. At the beginning of the game, I hated her. But throughout the game as you play through her sections, her backstory is fleshed out so you get a better understanding of her actions and reasonings. I came to like her almost as much as Ellie by the final scene. Joel was selfish for killing everyone at the hospital to save Ellie, but I also understand why he did. Also, for the plot holes. The only one I keep seeing is about Ellie wearing a gas mask. Again, if you played the game, you would understand because this is brought up about halfway through the game. Joel tells Ellie to always keep her mask on near spores Incase they run into another survivor. Ellie’s immunity is still a secret in this game. Towards the end of the game, after playing as both Ellie and Abby for hours and hours, I came to sympathize with the both of them. They were both doing what they thought was right because of the death of a loved one, even though Abby kept sparing Ellie’s life but Ellie could not let it go and kept going on her revenge quest which eventually in the end made her lose most things she loved. There are NO SJW themes in this game whatsoever. There is NO cult of Christians that are going around killing people because 'they're gay' like most leakers are saying. Abby has the body structure she does because ever since the day Joel killed her dad, instead of sitting on the sidelines and doing nothing she's been training every single day non stop for the day she meets Joel. I would give this game an 8.5/10, but Im giving it a 10 on here to offset the people, most who haven't even played the game, giving this game a 1 for something they know nothing about. This is explained in the game. I felt bad for Ellie towards the end, but that was the predicament she kept putting herself and the people around her in over and over again. If you set out for revenge, you best dig two graves.… Expand

    I am really disappointed..... disappointed in people who write bad reviews even when they don't have either ps4 or game. I don't really know about the English-speaking community, but I have heard enough about the Russian community and want to say: PLEASE, DON"T LISTEN TO ANYONE AND BUY THIS GAME! IT WORST EVERY CENT YOU PAY FOR IT!

Joel's death was such awful story telling and already set the path for the rest of the game. Right now I'm at a part that I'm playing as abby. It feels like half this game I have been playing as a character that I don't care for or even like. She is arguably the worst character on a video game ever. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
