    It's a shame that a game with such promise has been completely taken over by the SJW crew... the story is just plain horrible... and the thing that cracks me up is the SJW journalists are putting a spin on all the bad ratings to misdirect focus on their own agenda... good graphics... everything else is completely sub par...

    What a horrible story . The story has no structure. The first 5 hours where amazing 10/10 . But after that when u have to play as Abby for the last 3-4 hrs and basically have to start the story again was just awful just felt like game filler to me. The only real complaint I have with the game is that the ending left a little to be desired after the last scene. The beginning makes sense, seeing through the eyes of the antagonist makes you feel for them and see their point of view. Don't trust these sheep who can't come up with their own thoughts in a game and are hating because some website told them to, or because there's a "political agenda" there's not.… Expand

    Congratulation Naughty Dog, you made your hetero-normative white girl, who is built like a dude, and her ex-boyfriend, a white male, your most compelling characters of the game.

    Why do I rate this game 4/10? Because the protagonist, Ellie, is an utter bore and really a terrible person. That's fine if this is by design, but that is what impression she gives me. As much as I hate Joel's death, and that particular scene is pretty awful, and I don't just mean uncomfortable to watch, I mean the setup was lazy.

    They say in fiction that the protagonist is the one who changes the most. Well, then your protagonist is Abby. Abby has a classical arc. She does a heel-face turn and shows some genuine heroic capacity. Ellie is angry and bitter the whole time, and her dialog with Dina is cringe-y. Whereas Abby has good conversations that move her character forward. Ellie and Dina just exchange YA romance novel bromides about their love. No hetero character in the history of gaming has ever obsessed as much about their love interest as in this game. It is mind-numbing. So that takes away a number of points.

    The next big reason is that ND does an incredible job at rendering a post apocalyptic Seattle, but the game mechanics feel like they are stuck in 2013. Most of the lore has no depth. The war between the WLF and the Scars is filler, and is just there to provide two factions so that the co-protagonists have someone to kill other than the inexplicable number of infected that run around in a war zone. There are quite a few times when you think, "This just makes no sense."

    There are a couple good infected moments, however, including one in the hospital basement that i particularly liked, but it was there for "boss" value, not because it was born out of story. So those are my reasons it didn't rate higher, terrible Ellie arc and dated gaming mechanics. Also, the scenes that take place after Seattle are terrible, and further my opinion that Ellie is just a terrible person.    … Expand

    Awesome, builds well on the first game. Graphics and story are excellent. I really don't understand the negative user reviews, seems some people are more interested in pushing their own views rather than reviewing the game on its merits

    Despite advances in graphics its completely undone by its story and monotonous gameplay. I found myself struggling to keep playing with a lot of the wash, rinse, repeat gameplay. By the time I got to the Seattle day 2, I found the entire game to just be a chore to get through.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have only played a couple hours of the game so far, but I have actually loved it. I can’t say if it’s better than the first yet, but it is a much darker and brutal game than the first. It is a progression of the first game, so yes there is a MAJOR death at the beginning. Its what drives Ellie’s need for vengeance, not unlike how Joel’s love for his daughter was resurrected through Ellie and made him protect her and get her to her destination. Granted that ended up making him decide to massacre the fireflies and doctors trying to find a cure for the virus. The Last of Us Part II shows us the consequences of Joel’s actions. Joel obviously held some guilt over his decision, and as a player he’s still of my favorite characters in video game (and media) history and this makes *SPOILERS* his death extremely tragic and heart wrenching. It’s a moment not unlike Sara dying in front your eyes; it makes you feel helpless and to me, I had to pause the game to dry my tears so I could push forward. The review bombing going on is by people who can’t accept a realistic, life-like, gritty story in video games. It’s ridiculous that this is being allowed and that people are this petty over a video game. I’ll be sure to leave a full review once I’m completed.… Expand

    Sadly overhyped with a v.poor story. The graphics are nice but as an open world fan who recently played the ND collection they can't make up for a poor story in a story driven game. Also felt like the games advertising was very misleading - not quite a bait & switch but not far off

    TLOU2 could have been a great sequel, but the choice made by the game directors after about 12h of play is catastrophic and leaves the player not want to play the game further. This choice breaks the game, breaks the relationship it built with the player after Part 1 and the first half of Part 2, and breaks the player's desire to know more about the story.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. People are trashing the game because of the story, let me explain why I think the actions the characters take are justified.
    First off, the leaks
    The leaks are what killed this game for many people, the ending and the characters were out of context in just cutscenes. You have to play through this game to understand the arc of the characters and why they do the things they do.
    Take for example the first game. Joel decides to save Ellie from having surgery, he kills innocent people and takes a chance of a cure away from the world. If this was shown in a few cutscenes, this would seem stupid. But if you play through the game and build a connection between Joel and Ellie, his actions seem more justified. This is what happens in this game.
    Ellie decides to spare Abby in the final fight. She spares the killer of her only father figure and one of the fan's most beloved characters. But you find out why if you take in the flashbacks. She tries to forgive Joel for getting rid of the chance for a vaccine, so why can't she try and forgive Abby for what she did. By killing Abby she'd be no better than she was, so she lets her go, but not without a beating.
    I am not saying this game is up to par with most of ND's writing, but I found the game and it's story engaging and I enjoyed it a lot.    … Expand

The game took everything that made me happy in this game (even my initial hatred for Abby, let's face it, it's fun to hate) and gave me nothing in return. If anything, it's the virtue signaling of those characters and the unnatural use of them to (arguably) disingenuously push an agenda on the public. Please stop that narrative as it is false. I feel that they made the main characters all female to support feminist movements and killed off Joel thinking it would inflict crazy emotions in us and make us sad instead it made everyone made and hate the game because we all loved playing as Joel in the original game.     Beautiful story and gameplay. I was concerned with others negativity but I am glad I decided to play anyways. The controls are better the atmosphere is better and I’m in love with the story. Highly recommend

This game is a masterpiece, it manages to show so many things so perfectly that it is even difficult to show them all, so many incredible details and a story that really makes you think about so many things, your actions, decisions, among others. The script for this game was able to manipulate me perfectly, and left me in a mix of feelings that was difficult to explain and even to handle, and I believe that the reason this game is receiving so many low marks, is exactly the fact that people are not used to it and they just get angry. The script makes you create an immense hatred for the '' antagonist '', to the point of making many players believe that this is just another cliche game about revenge, however, showing the side of the '' antagonist '' and its reasons in a way so drastic, it made me understand why she did what she did and it just made me angry with myself for being angry with her and made me angry with the fact that I felt sorry for her, and it made me really confused about i was feeling. It made me think that, just like in the game world, all of our actions have consequences and how the lack of empathy and understanding can result in an endless cycle of hate. This was the first game that made me rethink my actions as a protagonist, as I, in search of revenge, killed several people without even thinking that in the end they were just like me, wanting to live a normal life, in times as difficult as those , and as their families are probably in deep suffering due to my lack of humanity. The script makes us create a picture so clear that the antagonist is nothing more than a demon or the evil incarnate that when presenting clear arguments to us, so suddenly that things are not quite like that, we feel a hate within ourselves and me it really hurt. I described the feeling as if the game played a bait to the player who bites it very hard, and suddenly, that bait you took is forcibly taken off causing a terrible pain for the player. At the end of it all, I saw that I was blinded by the hate for the death of characters that I liked so much, which made me commit horrible acts, without even stopping to think that, I was killing humans, that everyone sharing the same feelings that I and how only a little empathy could solve all problems without suffering. I believe there is no perfect game, but The Last Of Us 2 really comes close to that.… Expand

    I gave this a 6 to boost the score a bit. Compared to the 1st game and Uncharted 4 it's more of a 4 or 5 imo. What I loved about the Last of Us 1 vs Uncharted besides the AMAZING storytelling is the sense of progression. While minimal it gives you a reason to explore the world. Here, I was not encouraged to explore outside of enough to have enough special weapons for any potentialI gave this a 6 to boost the score a bit. Compared to the 1st game and Uncharted 4 it's more of a 4 or 5 imo. What I loved about the Last of Us 1 vs Uncharted besides the AMAZING storytelling is the sense of progression. While minimal it gives you a reason to explore the world. Here, I was not encouraged to explore outside of enough to have enough special weapons for any potential boss battles which there are few. Fallout 4 is the template they needed with this story. Great customization and mini games in case you hate the main story. Im glad I read the leaks because I may have broken my PS4 after completing this. I will say great graphics--less a few NPC's and I think they were trying to make everyone ugly so mission accomplished I guess; great voice acting; great score; gameplay 8s fine if you enjoyed the first; but be prepared for abysmal story decisions.… Expand

Может быть Собака ожидала от меня, что поиграв пару часика за какую-то мерзкую бабу, я стану ей сопереживать и вовсе перейду на ее сторону? Не знаю даже, что сказать. С одной стороны события вокруг Эбби были интересными, вот только сам персонаж мне этим больше не понравился. Эти события не хотелось бы выписывать из игры, но все же - заставлять себя играть против своей же стороны - мерзко. Кто-то скажет: «Но через геймплей за Эбби и последующую драку с Элли тебе становятся понятны ее мотивы, ты чувствуешь врага потому что смотришь его глазами». Да...… Expand

Es increíble que un juego que te haga sentir incomodidad o te provoqué desazón, por causas no vinculadas a las características del juego, sin embargo, este si que lo logra provocar un sensación de disgusto. No tengo nada en contra de la comunidad LGBT, pero en este videojuego sentí como si me obligaran a ver o participar de algo que no quiero y que realmente no aporta en lo más mínimo a la historia del juego.
    Realmente es una tortura que un maldito videojuego te quiera meter la homosexualidad por la fuerza, vuelvo a mencionarlo, no tengo absolutamente nada en contra de la comunidad LGBT, no siento ningún repudio u odio hacia las parejas homosexuales, pero que te metan escenas lésbicas en un videojuego, realmente solo por "diversidad", me parece una estupides.
    En ningún momento me sentí conectado con el personaje, es como si solo estuviera viendo una mala serie donde a fin de cuentas te da igual lo que ocurra de cualquier manera no te sientes conmovido, identificado o conectado con el personaje.    … Expand

    Como conecta con la normalidad de la que es merecida la comunidad LGTBQ por fin con un juego y un juego de leyenda, la narrativa la naturalidad y la pasión de este juego son de lo mejor añadido a una jugabilidad entrañable y unos gráficos y sonido muchísimo más mejorados. Me encanta

    This game is not as good as the 1st. BUT. With that saying it is still an amazing game. The graphics, voices, sounds and gameplay are amazing. The story is not up to par with the first. The first one feels like you had an objective and a goal this one even though there is one you don’t feel like it. You feel like you are just on a killing spree for no reason.     I seriously am in love with this game so far. I’m about 20 hours in, and while it does have its flaws, I still adore it. The dialogue is wonderful, the motion of the game is engaging, and the worlds are incredibly built. I don’t understand why so many people dislike this game, but I personally think it is a fantastic and engrossing ride so far.

    Oh dear, the story telling is awful on so many levels. The first game was on the best I've ever played and maybe should face stayed a single entry rather then be cursed by a poorly thought out sequel.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Where to begin, let's get the obvious out of the way first they killed Joel whoever came up with that suggestion in the meeting at naughty dog needs to be fired anyone who agreed needs to be fired.

    Then they go on and treat his death like we hadn't already played a previous game for 30+ hours or more depending on how many times you played through the first game. By making him out to be a bad guy for what he did.

    That's lazy writing because the reason this Abby character kills Joel is because her dad was one of the doctors that was going to kill Ellie in the first game.
    Naughty dog can't punish you for a choice that you had to make in the first game which everyone was in board with by the way cause eveyione fell in love with Joel and Ellie relationship and then in this game it punishes you by killing Joel. Like that is bad writing we are being punished for something we had no choice against.

    The game makes you sit through half the run time playing as Abby helping her friends out when you already have seen playing as Ellie that they all die anyway so why would we feel any suspense when we are going around with them we know there not going to die because we know how they die, there is just no reason. In to why we would feel the need to invest ourselves in her story arc.

    Naughty dog shows you what happens then makes you play the scenes leading up to it however these "scenes go on for half the game" it was such a waste of time.

    Also the final nail in the coffin for me was when the game forces you to beat up Ellie to near death as Abby WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DO That Ellie is not the bad guy why are we being forced to play as this unlike ale terrible and horrible person.

    This review is all over the place and pretty much a rant so I know I've missed out a lot of things it would take forever to pick this game apart and why it was the biggest let down ever and how it has single handndley ruined and entire franchise for me I can't even play the first one anymore because naughty dog has destroyed this story so much. It pains me because I use to love these characters or at least Joel and Ellie but know ones dead and the other one destroyed I just can't with this game franchise anymore congratulations naughty dog you have killed one of your most popular franchises absolutely disgraceful.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game itself from visuals, sound all the way to voice acting was perfect. It looks beautiful and the atmosphere is beautiful. But the story the main point in getting this game, is horrible.

    Joels death was rushed and pretty bad. The circumstances with the horde and the blizzard was a nice excuse to make him follow Abby into his death. But considering how smart they both were in the last game, that made no sense. They know they are wanted atleast Joel should know. He would never say his name like that. The way he died was also humilating, ganged ab by 10 People, after beeing immobilzed and then yea, golf.

    The next thing about the plot that is terrible: the way it evolves. Not only are you forced on playing abby and dismantle Ellie and Dina, but she also kills Jesse the way he got introdruced by opening a door within miliseconds.

    After that Tommy is heavely wounded and cant proceed on his path of revenge, which is fine, even tho Yara beeing right there at that time made no sense, same for Manny and Abby not beeing able to open the door, but after manny gets shot in the head she just jumps through it, like a saloon door.

    So far: Abby killed Joel, wounded Tommy, who cant even walk proplery anymore because his leg got shot with an arrow, dismanteld ellie whose spirit got crushed anyways after she killed her friends. I like that part tho, she is human and somehow regrets what she is doing.

    Tommy not beeing able to pursue her was tragic, but him beeing so out of character is just terrible. I can see the way Neil portrayed him here, Guy lost his brother, divorced his wife, lost an eye and cant walk amymore. But the way he took it out on ellie felt wrong there.

    Fast forwarding to the end..

    So you're there you dont get an option to kill her, youre just forced to let her go after you feed your fingers to her, which I will get to in a second, is probably the most unsatisfying thing you can do, it would be nice if you could atleast choose to let her go if you really wanted to: But this is just bad writing. The symbolic messages after the fight when she returns to the farm when she noticed that her pursue of revenge costed her fingers, the only thing that could still remind her at joel with the song she could play was pretty heavy to take in, and I kinda like the idea that neil had in mind, but then again... Abby got away, everything was kind off pointless. Not only did Neil spit on joels legacy but you also destroyed Ellies character. She was already broken after Joels death, everything she did and over losing Dina. But her forcing to leave the guitar there and loosing all she had just demolished what was builded with TLOU and Left Behind.

    In conclusion: Revenge didnt work, except for abby she got what she wanted, she lives, with lev and goes to the fireflies. Ellie just leaves the farm, with an open future. She wont get to remind herself anymore at joel.

    My recommendation to all of you, who are disapointed: Pretend this game never happend and keep TLOU legacy with honor and dignity in your memories.

    My main problem with this game stems from Abby. Is Abby justified in killing Joel? Absolutely, he killed her dad, she is 100% justified in killing him I have no problems with that. What Naughty Dog fails to grasp is that even though i fully understand and agree with her character motivation here I still don't f***ing like Abby, and i have no logical reason to because she just killed our main protagonist from the last game. You guys spent an entire game building up Joel's character and making us care about him, we played the game as if we WERE him. But now? We're expected to sympathize with his killer? Not even that, we're expected to LIKE his killer, to root for her in same vain we did Joel. You literally control Abby in a chase/fight sequence against Ellie where you beat the hell out of her. Then at the end of the game when you're finally getting some payback the game decides Ellie is a bigger person or something and just lets this **** (who by this point has killed several/maimed several of Ellie's friends) just hop in a boat and leave. Sorry but nah. Cannot get behind this character and nothing in this story makes me want to.

    The game really wants to push the message that 'Revenge is bad'. Ellie loses pretty much everything in the end and can be seen walking off in the distance alone, the game WANTS us to think this is just the consequences to her actions but all it really feels like is more of a narrative contrivance. We spent this ENTIRE game on a bloodthirsty quest for vengeance to honor Joel's memory and take down his killer, only to be thrown through a loop in end when Ellie suddenly decides she's over it and let's Abby go? After she moments ago bit off two of Ellie's fingers?? And it feels like the game expects us to cheer at this revelation like Ellie has somehow overcome some ethical hurdle in sparing Abby's life? The narrative choices in this story just seem so out of touch with everything in the previous game and even the DLC that it's almost jarring. Nothing we know about Ellie would lead us to believe that she would spare Abby in the final encounter, but since Ellie can't be allowed to achieve her goal of this game or else the revenge message doesn't work, we now have to just stop and let her go in the climax of the final fight. Expert writing.

Игра казалась мне достаточно хорошей, совершенно иной, но все же хорошей. До тех пор пока тебя не заставляют играть за антагониста, чья судьба тебе абсолютно неинтересна. Ты просто не можешь прочувствовать персонажа так же, как Элли. Я закрывал глаза на это, считая что: «Нууу.... зато это расширяет историю, показывает через другую призму». Но после того, как меня собственными руками заставили сражаться против персонажа, чья судьба для меня стала чём-то настолько важным и ценным, с помощью персонажа, к которому у меня полное отвращение и неприязнь, чьи чувства мне не близки так как для меня это по-прежнему кто-то чужой.... я просто перехотел играть в игру. Мне просто не нравится эта игра. Я мог бы ее ненавидеть или обожать, но она заставила меня быть к ней равнодушной, будто бы я купил игру в стиме за пару сотен. «Мне не нравится эта игра» - прочувствуйте то чувство безнадежности, звучащее из уст фаната. Эта игра стала для меня нелепым образцом плохого сиквела. Может быть это я что-то не понимаю? Может быть Собака ожидала от меня, что поиграв пару часика за какую-то мерзкую бабу, я стану ей сопереживать и вовсе перейду на ее сторону? Не знаю даже, что сказать. С одной стороны события вокруг Эбби были интересными, вот только сам персонаж мне этим больше не понравился. Эти события не хотелось бы выписывать из игры, но все же - заставлять себя играть против своей же стороны - мерзко.     Il gameplay e simile al primo ma molto più fluido e coinvolgente .
    Non sono un esperto in recensioni ma vi tenevo a dire la mia .
