The first game had an amazing story and decent gameplay. The gameplay for this one is fun, but the story kills it with bad pacing, and just an unsatisfied story, its sucks since naughty dog is an amazing developer, finally the game looks incredible.

Naughty Dog certainly chose to not play it safe and have delivered something that is challenging and in many places profound, although this seems to have been lost on many of the other "reviewers" on this website that have given it a 0 out of 10. Hopefully it should be clear to anyone thinking of buying/playing the game that a 0/10 is not a score that is given by somebody that is thinking critically about their experience but is rather showing that they have an axe to grind (the repeated use of the terms "SJW" and "politically correct" should inform you of the level of intelligence some of these people exibit). After playing the game you will probably find that a great deal of the criticisms levelled at the game's story can be disregarded with a some careful thought and attention payed to the subtle clues that are dropped throughout the 25 to 30 hour experience.

So anyway, with that out out of the way, what do I think about the rest of the game? The graphics are superb. There are multiple environment types and locations, and even though much of the game is set within a ruined overgrown cityscape I felt that the visuals were rarely repetitive. This is a game that is truely stunning to look at.

The combat is (by today's standards) quite basic, but that isn't necessarily a criticism. I found that there were parts that felt unnecessary clunky (the fist-fight "boss" scenes in particular) and were a bit of a chore to get through. On the whole though, the gameplay was fun but occasionally repetitive.

As a hobbyist game programmer myself, I am absolutely astounded at the artistic and technical acomplishment that the individuals working at Naughty Dog have achieved here. I doubt that many of the reviewers giving 0/10 scores (yes I'm still salty about that) have any notion of how much talent and work goes into making a body of work such as this. The game is receiving high praise from game critics though, and I suspect that if we could filter out all of the 0% "review-bombs" from the user score we would find a rating more in line with what the critic's have given.

The only truely negative thing that I will say about this game is that I was disappointed to hear about the levels of stress / "crunch" that the employees of Naughty Dog had to undergo during the making of TLOU2. I'm sure that most of us will agree that this kind of thing leaves an unpleasant mark on what has otherwise been one of the top gaming experiences of the year, and I hope that the "AAA" industry as a whole finds a way to create content like this without causing their workers to seemingly age 50 years in the process.

Anyway, enough of this. I'm about to play the whole damned thing again in New Game plus, and I can't wait.

The gameplay itself is revolutionary, the animations are nearly flawless and the graphics are amazing. Story wise it's not as strong as the first but does an amazing job at making the player feel tense and uncomfortable during the entire story.

Complex, nuanced story and multi-layered themes make this game hard to access superficially for some. They took chances and I think it paid off. You can play a second time and get a different experience than the first time solely on merits of the story. In a non-RPG game that is an exceptional achievement.
Technically the game is visually gorgeous. It improves on the combat exploration

Technically the game is visually gorgeous. It improves on the combat exploration formula that the first had in numerous ways. It allows fine grained difficulty changes rather than the usual "easy-medium-hard" which allows you to play exactly as you like. One of the protagonists is built to allow a more combat oriented style of gameplay, allowing you to experience the game mechanics from a different angle you may shy away from as the stealthy Ellie-Joel from the first game.

It should be said that the subject matter is brutal and the story takes you to visual and emotional places that can be very draining. This world is harsh, but thematically it is a search for light in the darkness, and what constitutes that light.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I went through a journey, it frikkin sucked at first. I launched Abby off a cliff every chance I had. But, I got it out of my system, I decided to stick with it, see where this goes. Really sought to understand how the story is unfolding as I played and in the end, I witnessed an edgy, gritty, modern revenge tale told from 2 perspectives, that ticked all the boxes for me. Might I add, the Ellie boss fight was the most incredible feeling I've ever had in gaming. It was hard, she was OP, so I wanted to do my best, but no, my heart was screaming at me, no you can't kill Ellie.. no, just no! How many games just rip you apart like that these days?

I'll still say, TLOU2 is in no way the story I wanted, as a fan of the first outing I still feel disappointed that this franchise isn't a Joel and Ellie team up anymore. However, the more I review the story, the more it clicks into place for me.. with all Joel had done, especially the atrocious act of severing humanity's last chance.. would he really have met a good end? Are we really okay with a happily ever after for him, those were questions I never really had the answers to, even from the first game.

As much as I love the character, he'd done some **** and that's putting it lightly.. If it wasn't Abby, it would have been someone else coming after him. And as a narrative-focused gamer and movie-goer, I appreciate this ballsy decision in the end. If they wanted to just make more money, more sequels, they would have pandered to fans, more and more Joel and Ellie adventures.. TLOU4, or make that 10.. and I wonder if that isn't a worse kind of death for my favourite gaming MCs.

It may be sounding a lil like an ND wank now, so let me clarify.. no, the story wasn't perfect, I don't feel Druckmann is a genius or anything like that. However, objectively.. it was pretty good. For me it was coherent, it had depth and originality, it certainly doesn't deserve the "universally negative reviews" it's getting right now. IMHO that's only happening because if the leak fiasco which has skewed everything. Imagine if someone leaked Empire Strikes Back, back in the day.. there might have been a riot! The reviews would probably be totally different than the love it's enjoying right now, because the audience had to wait to see it to experience the proper "shock".

... to appease the rage of the worst of us (pun intended), the 3-4 year skips is plenty enough room for a TLOU 1.5... could even be covered in the TV series.. One can always dream~ but, if we let viral cancel culture take over here, the IP becomes unprofitable and it's good bye forever...

The previous game was not only not good, but it was a masterpiece, but why this masterpiece? Because the previous game described the relationship between father and child very well, but this game did not make such a decision at all, this game tried to explain revenge and I can't believe that it could describe it so well! In which movie, game and series did you see a two-way revenge story? We've always seen one side of the story, but now we're looking at it in a full, two-way way. These violent and sad worlds must be ready to lose even the main characters, just like the game world of Game of Thrones; In the end, I repeat, the game did not black out at all and does not make you present a soft and clean story like the previous version, but it does offer a story full of sadness, anger and hatred, and of course it is quite successful in this way, in short, if you want to Take this pure pleasure game and your score is the same as Mr. Jafarian's score, you just don't have to play the game with the previous game view, this is a new game in 2020 not a game in 2013! The last of us part 2 in my opinion is a masterpiece although the choices of some parts of the story I question overall I left my first play through feeling desperate for more I was not only intrigued over the adventure Abby but it gave a whole new perspective on why she would want to do the things she has done. Overall I understand why people are frustrated with this game but that’s why opinions are opinions I think they did an even better story than the first game in expressing how getting revenge can mean loosing everything but at what cost do I stop? We see that perfect example here in part 2 as a 18 year old who’s favourite game was the last of us the second it released being 14 at the time had me feeling like I grew up with these characters and the loss of Joel in part 2 hurt but I grew to understand I hated Abby and left my first play through quite annoyed and bitter but my second play through I learned forgiveness and my 2nd run I felt a lot more of what naughty dog was trying to achieve I loved the first game as I do this one I have platinumed both and would love to see more of what this universe has to offer with the continuation of this story hopefully Ellie’s story as she’s still young you never know. 10/10 Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I wanted this to be a masterpiece so badly, but it isn't. As many others has said, the story have major plotholes that basicly abandons the characters from the first game. gameplay is good and great, graphics is best in the industry, but the story seems forced. I am trying to play through a second time, basicly skipping every cutscene except those including Joel and Ellie together. **** I wanted this game to be a sequal to the first game, but it isn't. Too many new characters that i don't care about at all. As well as playing a character you want to kill at every opportunity for 10 hours. The game is simply not very fun to play after you have played it once. It is depressing, I have finished the first game almost 10-20 times as well as getting a platinum. I don't see myself platinuming this game in the near future. It feels like a waste of time sadly. I just hope that they don't mess up the future multiplayer.

I love the first game and wanted to love this game, but I don't... They disrespected the characters and the fans to much. The trailers were also false advertising, showing Joel alive with Ellie on her path to revenge, only to kill him off and replace him with a guy which I hardly even remember the name of.

    It should have been better.

I have read some of hate reviews of this game and they have no substance. This game achieves a level of empathy and a conflict of our emotions towards characters which has never been done before. This game is groundbreaking in storytelling and should be seen as the catalyst to this. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wow... I feel like there is so much to unpack in this game. I truly did enjoy my time playing this game. The art design was fantastic, the scale of the world was amazing, and to me overall the story was heart wrenching and at times hard to watch. I felt like the combat was pretty smooth and loved the amount of customization there was in the game compared to the first game.

I went into this game with no spoilers and had no clue what was going to happen. This being said, the moment Joel dies in the story I was in shock. But at the same flip of the coin I knew that Joel had to die. His story was told in the first game. I was upset he died and was angry but knowing how I felt in the first game, all emotions run high. I wanted to go on the revenge journey with Ellie. During this time the game felt a little slow to me, but I don’t say that as a bad thing. What I love most about this game is it’s ability to take a moment to breath and reflect. It’s these nice moments that really let me get to know the characters. The game slowly starts to pick up momentum getting more gruesome and intense. I found myself struggling with the characters about their morality and didn’t agree with the choices being made. I love how it was building up until Abby finds Ellie.

This is when I got a little upset. For the next 10 hours or so I had to play as Abby. I didn’t care about her character, however seeing her perspective opened my eyes a bit more and over time I enjoyed her character. I still didn’t agree with what she did and I don’t think by any stretch she could redeem herself but I at least liked to see her right her wrongs and try to become a better person after her mistakes. Abby’s story arch over time became fun but it’s placement in the game just felt wrong. You get all this momentum to then slow down again. I think I would have preferred a more cat and mouse approach over the 10hrs of this character over backtracking. The flashbacks for me were fine and placed in the game well, it was just The pacing of Abby and Ellie’s journey. Having the intensity go to a slow crawl again felt off to me. At the end of the game when you don’t kill Abby I felt so happy. When I saw Abby all strung up and weak I felt like justice had been served for her actions. I was also happy that Ellie realized that she had lost herself in all of this and slowly began to have some sense of morality in the end even though it cost her everything. Overall from the captivating graphics, fun gameplay, and good story, to the few little bugs in the game that I encountered and the pacing of the story I give this game an 8/10. If the pacing was done a bit differently I could easily give this game a 9/10.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I gave it a positive review simply cuz the art, gameplay, level design, etc, anything but writing team. And it's not like I hate the story that much but just a mix feeling.

For me, it's a pretty convincing story, like Joel's death and stuff. But I really don't give a **** about Abby's perspective, that really gave me a hard time to enjoy the game, and that's almost half of the game. But still, like I said, the gameplay is still very good throughout the whole game, so I can still kinda enjoy the game while playing as Abby.

The other thing is, I wish they gave us choices. After Abby's fight, at the farm. I really don't want Ellie to pursue revenge anymore, and if I do, I wanna kill her. Maybe not torture her, but at least end this. And the game just go the opposite way both time for me. Also, in the end, there's nothing left for Ellie. For a character that I like so much, it's kinda hard to take in. In fact, the rest of that day, I don't feel like doing anything.

Stunning visuals, incredible acting, massive world building, emotional audio; the game is extremely well-made mechanically and graphically and deserves commendation on these fronts. The story is where everything becomes precarious, however. It is obviously trying to test the player's expectations and adaptability while subverting expectations, but in my opinion it simply oversteps the boundary between artful subversion and sabotaging the story's momentum and, ultimately, appeal. The core of games is the element of fun: it is what drives people to play the game. A video game can be incredibly deep and tell a story unlike any other while also remaining fun and engaging. That is precisely what the first Last of Us did. However, with Part II, "fun" isn't exactly found in plenty here. Instead, after all is said and done, I feel that the player is left with a feeling of emptiness and disappointment. It's not a sobering, eye-opening-realization sort of emotion that can be commendable like in other titles, but rather one of almost irriation and a longing for the game they hoped to play after over half a decade of waiting. Some elements are certainly "fun" and inspire a sense of adventure and creativity, such as interacting with the beautfiul environments found throughout the world or deciphering the best method of stealthing through a level, but anything to do with the story at hand is simply disappointing and unintersting for long stretches of time.

The game deserves praise for its sheer scale and graphical fidelity, as well as its attention to detail and narrative craftsmanship (no-one denies the amount of time and attention put into that). But in the end, the feelings of "fun" and satisfaction so important to successful titles is scarce. The Last of Us Part II is better than many are giving it credit for, but is also a far-cry from its masterpiece of a predecessor, leaving many who endured the campaign feeling simply thieved of the narrative they believed should've been in place.

Last of Us Part 2 said trans rights!

Honestly, all the incels giving this game bad reviews need to grow up. Y’all are just angry because not only do we have a strong female lead who is a member of the LGBT community, but we’ve got a second female lead who is a member of the CROSSFIT COMMUNITY. They can’t relate to a lesbian or drool over a woman that’s wider than a doorframe. So they stay mad. Any person that says the characters are unlikeable or aren’t dynamic clearly must have the personality of a lobster, and that’s a huge disservice to lobsters. The characters are all so diverse, real, and relatable. But you know, the liberal SJW agenda is coming for your games. Watch out. I love this game and everything about it and have not been able to think about anything else for 2 weeks straight. I’m emotionally distraught by how beautiful this game it.

I'm a huge fan of the first one. I didn't want there to be a second game. I wasn't excited when they announced there would be a sequel because I was afraid they would ruin the story line. I didn't follow the game's development because I was afraid the game would be trash. I say this because I went into the game with a low expectation.

This game is a masterpiece. I have no clue how anyone can rate this game lower than an 8. It is an emotional roller-coaster. My body felt disgusted after playing parts of this game. I cried in parts of this game. I played a few times till 1 in the morning and was scared diving into the darkness of infected. I could not believe how masterfully crafted every piece of this game was, and how it surpassed my absolute love for the first one.

I'm glad that they misguided fans in the trailers. I went in thinking that Dina was going to die, because that was implied in the trailer. I was glad to have been tricked because it made certain scenes even more powerful. I was glad to play from other character's perspectives. I allowed the game to do what Naughty Dog intended.

I can go on and on about the technical aspects that are miles above other titles. But what sets a game like TLOU2 away from other titles is the story. There are no load screens. There are no side missions. It was a straight 35 hour campaign for me. I had no clue where the game was taking me the entire time. There were parts where I said, "I know what's going to happen next," but the game went a completely different direction.

I am mostly sad for the game community. I have been following Metacritic for years now and never had an account. I made an account specifically to write this review. I am sad that fans could not play this game with an open mind. I'm sad to see fans refuse to experience one of the most beautifully crafted stories of all time, because they "think" they know Joel better than the creators. Joel was not a nice person. I love him, but he is the villain. He destroyed mankind by selfishly saving Ellie in the first game. He murdered many people, even going way before the first game even started. Don't tell me that Joel deserves to be on this pedestal. This is exactly what the game teaches the player; you are not always right and need to look at situations from another's perspective.

My opinion is small, but it is my opinion. TLOU2 is the best game of all time. I never thought I would be saying that but this game impacted me so deeply that I can't stop thinking about it, days after completing the campaign.

I get the real negative reactions, personally. Not the fake or just made up ones.

But if the team of people at Naughty Dog didn't do such things, it wouldn't be such a masterpiece. Sure I don't like killing dogs and I am sensitive to seeing to much blood, but here it kinda makes sense. It's different from the first game - yet same. For me? Narrative. Gameplay. Graphics and design. Soundtrack.

This is a thoroughly emotional game. It takes the player through all emotions in ways that one may or may not agree with. It’s a 25hr journey worth taking, but it’s a very human journey, scars and all. It’s brutal, unforgiving and full of heart. I wouldn’t call it a sequel, but a continuation.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I went into this game thinking it was not gonna be good because of what people were saying during pre-release and after the first week of release but I still decided to give it a chance...I felt that after what they did in the first one they deserved at least that much. And let me tell you I was not disappointed, sure I was sad watching my favorite character from the original game die right at the beginning but the story that followed even though not as good as the first one was still a very entertaining although brutal experience. And the whole experience playing as Abby worked for me, even though I wanted her and all of her group dead because of what they did I couldn't help but start to like her and Owen by the end of her side of the story. And when it came down to the final fight all the motivation I had to kill her was gone, after what they had gone through I just felt that there was nothing to gain but still a lot to lose from any of them dying. I don't think it's a bad story but it sure as hell is a sad one especially for Ellie and Tommy who basically are left alone and "broken" in the end. But like I said it is not a bad story at all if you are willing to think about everything that happens and not just what happens in THAT cutscene. In terms of gameplay it improved from the first game even though the shooting still isn't my favorite. I won't say that the people who didn't like the story are wrong because everybody has different tastes but saying it's complete garbage after playing like an hour of it is just wrong and unfair for the people that worked on this game for years. For me this is a must buy just like the first and I hope they make a third. Expand

The overall combat and gameplay is great for 7-10 hours then becomes a repetitive drag. Only 1 new type of enemy and it's not that big of a deal. The story is flawed 3 hours in and doesn't make up for it. It makes you hate Elly and tries to make you like Abby but doesn't until the end when you just want to be done with the game. The last 6-7 hours I lowered the difficulty out of boredom of the combat so I could finish the story which was not worth it. This game started off great to ok. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I think this game is really good. The gameplay, the story (except the Joel part), the voice acting, graphics, mechanics, the pacing, enemies, and characters are outstandingly good. Many people that wrote reviews are just pissed about the Joel part and I agree that it sucked but they act like that one scene ruined this 25-hour long game. Just because the game shows that the game addresses serious topics like death, doesn't mean it's bad. Stuff like this happens in real life you know. They wanted to make a sad story and knew the response they were going to get. They didn't make this game for people that think that everything is perfect and that every game should have a Disney like "everything is perfect" ending. The game isn't rated FSK 18 for nothing and just because you didn't like that one scene doesn't mean everything else is bad. Personally, I really enjoyed this game, and it's just getting review bombed because little kids think the world is perfect. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

    Grande jogo, vou zerar novamente.

I just completed Part II after completing the first game, and I thought that The Last of Us: Part II takes most of the aspects of the first game and drastically improves on them. The "hide-and-seek" style of gameplay is way more interesting in my opinion compared to a normal stealth game, the map design is far better with more branching paths and areas to explore, to the point where it sometimes feels open world, and the crafting and weapon systems from the first game have been improved upon greatly. If there's one word to describe this game, I would say it would be "brutal" because every punch, shot, and explosion feels so real and guttural. The enemies call out eachothers names whenever one is killed, the dogs whimper and shake when dying. The game is just so nihilistic and real and I love it so much. For the story, I really enjoyed it. The whole concept of 2 parallel stories going on at once was really interesting. I think that this is one of the only games where I felt like, along with the characters, I was having my own character development, trying to figure out which characters I liked, which characters I didn't, and what was right and wrong. The game is really enjoyable, and once I finished it's roughly 22 hour campaign, I felt satisfied by the game's story and the direction it took it. The only reason that the game is not getting a 10/10 for me is because I felt like some parts felt rushed, and some parts dragged along for a bit more than they needed to. Go in with an open mind and be willing to see through the story, and try to put your biases aside as much as possible. With tight gameplay, excellent visuals, and a solid combat system The Last Of Us Part II is a blast to play. It's a game changing and monumental work of art, and is executed masterfully. The story is beautiful and heartbreaking. There are no "political opinions pushed" onto the player, and the game does not strictly tell you how to feel. There are also no good or bad guys, yet many of the critics feel the need to use that as an argument, which is proven to not be the case at various times throughout the game. The characters are dynamic and rich, and the voice acting is top notch. While this game is sure to be decisive, keep an open mind and form your own opinions based on the story that the game developers wanted to tell. The few cons that I had would deal with the game overstaying it's welcome, and certain parts dragged on, and risked being repetitive to the point of being boring. I encountered a few minor bugs, but I would not say they impacted the experience, and none of them were game-breaking. Give this game a chance. I would realistically give it an 8/10 due to the gameplay being too long, about 3 hours could have been cut and instead that time could have been utilized to build more story moments and to give us more information and moments with key characters. All in all, this game is worth it, and does not deserve all the mindless hate that it gets. Expand

Absolutely stunning as always from Naughty Dog! The game forces you to empathize with its characters and accept that as they are. This game is hard to play, and thats why you can't stop thinking about it days after finishing it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So, it’s been a few days since I finished the last of us part II. I honestly had to take the time to digest what I’ve witnessed during my 21hr play through. The game is what it is. It’s not perfect the story is debatable on what you take from it. Whether you believe they should have kept Joel alive or killed him. The story throwing you into a character that took the life of a character we’ve only been waiting seven years to get back in the control of, which I won’t lie it boiled me up from the moment it happened. The game is beautiful, the gameplay is even better. I love every moment of feeling that if I make one wrong move I’m gonna end up getting killed. The non infected characters (Scars, WLF) etc. are intelligent in their attempts to see you die. Crawling around and staying out of sight trying to lead dogs away from your scent and picking each enemy off one by one. But when things go pear shaped the enemies attack you relentlessly and reacted to each other being killed by shouting their names. I honestly think the gameplay made up for a lot of the story. The cutscenes are very long and sometimes drag a bit. I felt like i was itching all the time to jump back into gameplay. We got to witness Ellie face a lot of adversities during her 3 days in Seattle but she ultimately came out of this on the worse end and loses absolutely everything. When the credits role I felt like is that it? I spent twenty one hours playing to just end up with one of the worst endings in a game ever. Yes, I get it Ellie couldn’t live with herself not revenging or gaining closure for someone she held so dear as her father figure. I think this game is something everyone should experience as a playstation gamer it’s the tip of the mountain of how far this current gen can push the console to its limits. This isn’t for everyone and it’s not the first game in anyway. But look everyone has the right to their own opinions so go enjoy the game.

Thank you! Neil Druckman, Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, Jeffrey Pierce.

For some odd reason I’m not as mad as everyone else about having to play as Abby, The story for both characters is definetly not the best, but it’s like a 7/10. I cared when **** happened, and I was **** tryharding that last fight

But the gameplay is easily the best part of the game, I played the game on the hardest difficulty, and I’ve heard people say combat is repetitive, It definetly

This game is a genuine masterpiece of Gameplay and Story, i love almost everything about this game, ill start with my cons as i only really have 1, Pacing, i think this game can drag on sometimes, especially in Abbys sections but other then that, id say this game has so many pros it doesnt matter, Joel is dead and that means war to Ellie, Joels past actions regarding the fireflys and his actions at the finale of last of us 1, Abby, the daughter of the doctor at the hospital that Joel murder'd for Ellie, Now this is important, im ok with Joel dying, this is because it makes sense, Joel did something AWFUL, he doomed the Earth for his own gain, Your actions have consequences, as is shown by Ellie chasing down Abby as a result, this game made me feel more then any game ive ever played, before i discuss the ending i feel i should discuss the Gameplay, it feels great to play and looks absoulutely phenomenal and it maintans the last of us 1s tone and gameplay, its a broken world. Now the ending, i think the Ending is amazing, the game would have been so basic if "Ellie kills Abby you win", this is TLOU you rarely win, Ellie earned her revenge, but she broke they cycle, because if she killed him, she would be just as bad as her, i think people dont want to like Abby because they refuse to understand that Joel did Horrible things, People hate Abby because they are actively TRYING to hate Abby, i understand hating her at the start but if you still WANT to hate her, your obviously going to hate her by the end, if you let your guard down, you would actually start to like her and her friends, the ending leaves it open for both of them. I love the last of us 2 and i think the story was done well, G'night. Expand

It is not the typical game where you have an immortal hero, here they are all exposed humans looking to satisfy their own needs. The developers present the narrative to you from different points of view so that you perfectly understand the why of things in a horribly crude way, and that is not seen in another game. Last of Us Part II Review

If you’re looking for super happy times, don’t play this game. If you’re looking for super happy times, don’t play this game.

Many people do not appreciate the brutality, bleakness and grittiness of this story, and instead want to look away and curse at it rather than see what it is really about: finding the light in the dark.

It is an often-overwhelmingly dark story that shocks you to your core, and if you don’t like that then you won’t like the characters or their actions, which seem perfectly natural in a world as bleak and unforgiving as post-apocalyptic Seattle.

As well done as those elements are, the story is overlong by about 5 hours, there is an anticlimax that could have been more emotional (that ends up turning itself around and making up for it in the end) and the gameplay gets a bit repetitive sometimes.

But there’s truly no need for the slew of negative reviews that have come out from users panning it for having a “bad” story and being “disrespectful“ of characters we love when in reality they just can’t handle the truth.

Oh, and people panning it for pushing a LGBTQ agenda can shove it— the story is about so much more than merely pushing a political agenda.

    8.5/10. Great game.

Game of the decade and maybe the best story told in any medium in a generation. Absolutely brutal. I cannot stop replaying it not participating in the thoughtful discussions it provokes. An absolutely brilliant meditation on cycles of violence.

To be clear I didnt read the leaks going into the game and that made a large difference to how I feel about the emotional journey this game took me on.

    - Best visuals Ive seen in a game - period. - Gameplay improved on already great stealth game. The small mechanics they added like dodge and prone are excellent. - The story loses a half point for pacing issues in parts, but generally

    - The story loses a half point for pacing issues in parts, but generally it was excellent. I was deeply engaged throughout. The most grasped I have been by a game in several years. Even managing to leave me sobbing like a child when all was said and done.

Another masterpiece from Naughty Dog, it's a shame that the leaks allowed so many people to make their minds up before it came out.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
