    The Last of Us Part II is while not the worst sequel. but for a flagship title is a disappointment. Graphics are probably the feature but the story is best explained as a below standard Netflix show. Gameplay while improved (a bit) still is riddled with out of date mechanics and questionable design decisions.

First two hours in game : Joël, the gruff character who opened up to a teenager he slowly considered to be his daughter, forming an incredible bond of love and care, dies. In the most stupid way possible. He used to be careful about everything to survive, no matter how immoral it could be, but somehow he gives his identity to his murderer after slaughtering humanity's last hope of a vaccine. Simply idiotic and inconsistent.

    So the story is resumed to a vengeance trope (because who would want to witness an interesting, gut-wrenching and beautiful story in a TLOU game?) against an uninteresting villain we are supposed to relate through brutal scenes. But that's it. There is nothing more being developed. At no point the director's promises are respected : no questioning redemption nor forgiveness, you just drag some characters to the next cutscene where someone gets butchered. No control or decision on actions, the player means nothing. So how are we supposed to think about redemption or forgiveness if none of our actions actually matter ?

    The best decision to take is actually not to buy the game. Because, unfortunately, fake positive reviews from companies glorify this joke and will still convince some people to give it money.    … Expand

    La muerte Joel es de lo más impactante, pero sin duda lo compensan con los flashbacks.

All you do is kill. You kill for 30 hours! I could play WoW or Path of exile, kill for 30 hours and feel much better than after this game. Lame... Hope it fails tbh, games should feel good and rewarding for being played! Bioshock infinite had a better story than this attempt at a point and shoot game.

    Far cry 5 had a very interesting approach which made the player indeed feel odd and unpleasant, unfulfilled with the ending, but that was a charm, because up to that point the gane was 12/10    … Expand

    This game is long awaited and absolutely worth the wait. The first game didn't need a sequel but I'm so glad it got one because the gameplay had evolved and the story has progressed. It's dark, is gritty, it's very real. Thank you Naughty Dog for providing this work of art. Best movie I've ever played.

    Naughty Dog is always a pretty overrated but still overall decent developer. Last of US is decent and a 7/10 to me. Story was predictable and gameplay is quite repetitive and lackluster. Things they do well are animations, lighting and probably graphics. They still do and it's top notch among all PS4 games. Artistically and creativity is never their strong at that. My expectations weren't too high for this game, but I didn't expect it to be worse than the first by quite a large margin. At least I thought the story, characters' development and dialogue would still be somewhat enjoyable like the first.

    However Last of US 2 still managed do make me very disappointed. All the new characters are boring. Ellie and Dina basically had 0 character development throughout this very boring journey. There are some very tense moments in the beginning but it kinda fell apart after the first few hours of the game. Afterwards it's just sneak behind, stab or sneak, shoot, throw a stone to distract the enemy, rinse and repeat. Occasionaly there is some explosives you can use and that's it. Nothing unique is added weapon wise.

    Levels are slightly bigger which seem like a plus. however exploration is pointless due to the very limited weapons you can use. It does not add anything new to the story either. Sometimes there are interaction between Dina as you wander around for some scenary, sadly since she's a very lackluster, average looking character with a flat personality, my jaw almost fell on the ground due to endless ho-hums. Their dialogue is pretty much what you see with girls on your social media account.

    Another big complaint for Naughty Dog's games are being crazy linear. For some reason all their previous titles that got a pass from gamers a decade long. I always disliked that because personally, games are meaningful to play because I can forge my own path. Otherwise, I'd rather watch a movie. In Last of US 2, this issue is magnified to the maximum. Developer thought they created a great story, yet it felt crazy forced. Had they cut out those many boring moments and created a few more branching of the story and let player choose how the direction of the storyline in the second half to ending, it would be a much more interactive experience and perhaps I will be much more invested on every moment and details of the game so I can make my own choice for this journey.

    Lastly, Ellie's redesign is horrible, she used to be somewhat cute and now she's just like those protesters I saw on the last few week of BLM protests. Not to mention that she-male character and antagonist they created for the sequel, it's insane and by far the worst villain of any first party titles from Sony. She's like someone who won the lottery and became and became a billionaire, I wondered if Naughty used this method to just pick any NPC to become the main antagonist, there's no way you can tell she's so special other than Naughty Dog keeps put the camera focus on her.

    It's time for Naughty Dog to go back to the drawing board and understand why gamers play a game again. Gaming is fun because players can control. They need to create far more options for the players and let players make choices and develop way more tools for players to utilize that can affect the characters and the world within a game. Characters' physical appearance also needs to be customizable. It also shows the importance of mod tools, let players join in and add exciting content and customize your game even further. I'm tired of playing games like this where developer force the player to play the game their way and to go the story on their restrictive linear path.    … Expand

    This is a masterpiece and Joel's dying is a part of story. We all loved joel but not even close to how much druckmann does. He created him and made us love him. He has the right to destroy his own creature when he feels it's necessary and be sure that was even harder for him to destroy his own beloved character.     Excellent gameplay. Seen a lot of bad reviews and I think this purely due to an early plot point. Needlessly badly reviewed. Very cinematic game. Wonderful characterization, and obviously great graphics. Would definitely recommend and ignore the bad reviews. Make your own mind up about the story but I had fun.

    It’s been a blast getting to play this game with these characters. Everything on it is good, it’s a perfect sequel to the first game, with a better gameplay and a huge improvement in AI. Loved it.

I do not quite understand the plot of this game, or rather the story was built so that from beginning to end he keeps on useless actions and DISGUSTING MERGED IDIOTIC ENDING, as both could, and even lied to us in regards to Joel, I thought that the game Joel will play a much bigger role and not die in the beginning of the game from a woman with a Golf club. This offended my gaming feelings and because of this, I can not call this piece of code a continuation of the first part that I went to... You guys have disappointed me...… Expand

    Oh god, i was actually so hyped for this game. But the result is a comeplete garbage game. Gameplay is good combat feels satisfying to the end. Animations and camera angels are almost perfect. But i dont care about it. I care about the story and its **** garbage. Thank you neil druckmann.

    I don't know what to say about this game. When i played the last of us back in 2013 i was also watching the Game of Thrones. You guys may call me stupid on this comparison but i used to say Neil Druckmann is R.R. Martin of games. Because it was so beautiful that i had changed my views about how a good game should be. I am not from a very wealthy family my father was a school teacher and to earn better living he was part time home tutor. The people he used to teach were landlords and very wealthy. When i was graduate i became tutor to those kid's kids. , i used to see kids playing PS2 and i was fascinated by its graphics. i was fan of games since i was 7 years old. Big fan of KOF. My financial condition did not allow me to buy it but still after saving money I bought PS2. Played many games but one day I brought The God Of War. Oh my god what a game that was. I played 1st and 2nd . Now i was waiting for 3rd part. But unfortunately Part 3 was released on PS3 and i was way beyond my buying power furthermore there was no chance of buying pirated copy. So i watched entire game on Youtube. What a game that was !!!! what a game ... So I once again saved enough money Bought PS3 only to play God of War 3. and first game i bought was God of War 3. No matter i knew entire gameplay and story. But it was so good that i baugh it for $50.
    But as for the last of us 2 i admit i spoiled the game for me right when leaks were out. I still watched entire gameplay. I search for even a little bit thing that would force me to buy this game. But i didn't find anything apart from some very tensed moments.
    1st time Ellie goes kills everyone who never wanted Joel dead they were only ready to go because abby was there friend. Comes back home with broken nose, Jesse dead and Tommy's leg broken and losing one eye.
    2nd Time Ellie goes all the way killing people to kill her right when I was at my orgasm she left her hand and let abby go.
    WHAT THE HELL!!!!!
    If you guys are following the walking dead. People are trying to go back to their normal life by developing things. They are not only being savages or cannibals. But in the last of us 2 we didn't see hope in any one's mind that he will try to make world as it was before. You only 2 factions. many things could have been done to make this game playable or i should say buyable but you keep watching stupidity after stupidity. For eg. instead of unnecessary flash backs they could develop a gameplay of Tommy. We wouldn't mind playing as Joel's brother after watching how badass sniper he is. Shooting the guy in the head, who spits on Joel was so satisfying but it would have been more satisfying if it were we playing as Tommy. But no!! Mr Neil wanted the girls to handle the Job. But unfortunately his girls failed horrendously. Neil Should know to get a baby (Outcome) he need a dick with vagina there will be no outcome if two girls will be rubbing their Viginas with each other.    … Expand

    The haters can say what they want but I enjoyed this game quite a bit. The story itself is absolutely incredible and lures you in from the very start. The gameplay is amazing and enjoyable. The combat mechanics are unique and amazing. I don’t think I’ve seen a combat system this amazing. Every character in the game, even the bad ones, seem like real people.     Nobody is going to remember the limpdick bigots years from now. This is a compelling game. Don't let the trolls tell you otherwise.
    The only real complaint i have is the boats are hard to control sometimes. But that's only a small portion of the game.

    That said, this game blows me away, just like God of War did, and your enjoyment of such a masterpiece may vary depending on what you've experienced in life.
    For fathers, sons, daughters, mothers, young teenage lovers confused by the world... This game has so much life in it that I dare to call it the best collection of digital mimicry of the human experience in one game TO DATE.
    Red Dead Redemption 2 is a competitor where this is concerned, on the map, but it's not leading the race at this point.
    Sure, there's some angst with the overall story that fans of the first game won't like much at all, but the story goes beyond comfort zones that it's portraying much more than anything we've dared to create in this medium. It's a collection of extreme human experiences from a time unlike anything most people have lived through. And if you've done some of the things this game portrays, trying to survive in a hostile environment, and happen to be a parent with those same experiences, it will hit you square in the head with a pointy brick and leave you bleeding.

    That out of the way, there are a few glitchy technical parts with the actual game to discuss, this experienced from an observer's point of view who happens to have some expertise on the subject.
    The animations are a little rough here and there, stop-gapped with technology rather than fully hand-fitted. The mocap could have been better edited to fix that, but you'll notice it fairly often that it was done green-screen all the way, which does break immersion from time to time. Some of the interactions the player can do flat out break if the input is too quick, and the player body will be negatively impacted to the point a reset is needed. A lot of games these days have the same problem, so it's not exclusive to Naughty Dog.
    There's A LOT of npc teleportation going on, both with your companion and enemy AI. Sometimes it happens right in front of you, sometimes off camera, but it's very evident it's happening frequently. Same with the sound of dialog. It should be 'in tune' when the player and an NPC are face to face, but often sounds like it's off to one side or the other. Annoying, but not unforgivable.
    There's a few graphical issues I think could be better cleaned up for further fleshed out to really push the engine like better clothing maps, but not being a current gen console owner, I'm guessing it was downgraded for performance reasons.

    All of that out of the way, the environments recreated in this game are EXTRAORDINARY. It's not fully open world but enough so that there's always more than one option to a problem. There's tons of exploration to enjoy, and done within a fairly linear-modeled environment, it's just about the perfect middle ground I could think of between fully sandbox and a stone dead on-the-rails design. World and level design is astounding, and you can feel the life in it's creation; A LOT of talented artists put A TON of work into this, with passion and skill and endless refinement. If this game wins awards for anything other than story, this will be world design.

    Overall, THIS is still a game that is good enough that I would consider buying a PS4 to play, or even earmark for the next gen to wait on as it will probably never come to PC, most unfortunately. As previously noted, there's so much life in it that should be experienced by those looking for more out of their gaming voyage without pulling punches or worrying about your trifles with certain comfort zones.    … Expand

    After seven years of waiting for the game to continue, I would expect a different story than that after two hours of play, one of the main characters from the original game will die. When she died, I was expecting at least some nice revenge, but the fact that they let the second main character die, that's **** too much. What's worse is that you're forced to play as that character and the writers seem to expect you to be all lovey dovey for them.

Don’t mind the bad users score, they’re a bunch os sub-lettered freaks or just infant trolls bashing a product that exceeds their own capacity of understanding. This is a modern narrative, with lots of realistic feelings and good characters, not made for kids or ignorant trumpists.

Basically any non FPS game. This. This game. I started playing Friday night and basically did not stop until I was done. Simply put it is amazing. Do not buy into the review bombs

    The feeling of disappointment is overwhelming. The game first sets you up with taking out the main character (Joel) for what feels like mere shock value. Then has you chasing down the killer for the first half a game only to turn you 180 and feel like you need to start making a connection with Joel's killer which you now control. It seems like they had all these "cool" ideas but totally forgot what made The Last of Us Part 1 so good story wise. Only out of sheer will to see this train-wreck I continued playing as Abby.

    Graphics and Gameplay are great, but really are we getting TLOUP2 for graphics and gameplay? We know even if you turned up the original a bit it was going to be smooth to play. This story is just a mess, you had rich and vibrant characters from the original and just let it go to waste.

    Gameplay: Gameplay is somewhat acceptable. This isn't definitely a big step up but it works. No major complaint.

    Story: This is probably THE weakest part of the game. If you played the previous games, you should know that story has been one of the integral parts of what makes this game unique. Not only this game missed those heart-wrenching and emotional moments, but the story also felt forced as ever. It felt like they weren't even trying. A major downgrade in the quality of the story and conveyed no message whatsoever.

    Visual: Probably the only good thing about this game. If you don't mind playing a mediocre and not-so-important game for the sake of outstanding visuals, grab this one. This game will surely surprise you with eye-catching graphics.

    Soundtrack: Soundtrack is good. Not the best one out there but definitely tries to get you immersed into the game, which it could've done if it weren't for the boring and inanimate storyline.

    Innovation: Zero innovation. Doesn't bring anything new into the franchise. Avid fans like me who eagerly wait for these games wouldn't care much if this game never existed in the first place.

    Final Verdict: If you're considering buying this game and not sure if you should buy the game, I'll help you out. DON'T. If one word could describe this game, that would be "cash-grab". Naughty Dogs changed their previous gameplay elements and mechanics here and there and shipped this game in a new package. The story is as bad as it can get. It singlehandedly destroyed the reputation the franchise has been building up for years. If it weren't for the eye-catching graphics, I don't think I could've sat through the whole game.     1. The gameplay: It has hardly changed from the first game. But I liked the gameplay in the first game and I like the gameplay in this game. Boss fights against bloaters and the ball were particularly fun. Although I preferred to fight infected people rather than people. The weapons were very cool. Especially the bow and crossbow.

    2. The graphics: You can see that it is a generation further than the first game.

    3. The music and the sound: just very good.

    4. The level design: The new big levels are really good. You have a lot of different ways and you can do a lot of exploration.

    5. The depiction of violence: I like the screams of death from the opponents and how the bodies are damaged by explosions or fire. Very well implemented.

    The bad:

    1. The gameplay: Stealth in this game is hardly possible. You are discovered much too quickly and all nearby enemies know immediately where you are. It is very easy to run away and then you are again in hiding mode, but the opponents no longer leave their alarm mode. The gunplay is very weak. It mainly works with the Shotgun, Scopes, Molotov Cocktailes and Pipe Bombs. All other weapons are far too imprecise. I wish I had scopeupgrades for my weapons earlier. This is almost the only way to hit something.

    2. The level design: I like to explore a level completely before I go to the next level. Unfortunately, it is not always shown which way the next level starts and you get no warning that you cannot go back to the last level. As a result, I was unable to finish exploring some levels. If entrances to levels are removed without good reason, immersion is extremely broken. One example is the WLF Hotel in Seattle. There is a blue dumpster on the fence. This is used to get over the fence and into the hotel. If you then come out of the hotel due to the story, you have to pass the fence again and the container has disappeared. You can't go back into the hotel.

    3. Why are there so many pieces of paper to find? Why do you have to read them yourself? Why don't you let the actors read these notes? Then it would be more like System Shock or Bioshock. Or you can find tapes that can be played in Ellis Walkman. The thousand pieces of paper that you can find and have to read yourself are pretty weak. Environmental storytelling can be done better.

    4. The safes: Why do I always have to enter the code for a safe or gate myself? Why doesn't the game automatically enter it as soon as you know the code. Once Dina entered a gate code and I wished I could kiss her for it. Something like that could have happened more often.

    5. The story: Where should I start? Absolutely disappointing. Not worthy of being a sequel to the first game. Not worthy of the title the last of us part 2. This game is not part 2. It does not continue the story from the first game. It tells a completely new story. It actually tells two stories in one game. Both stories feel more like spinoffs rather than being a coherent sequel. Trying to make me feel sorry for Ellie's opponents didn't work. Trying to create sympathy for Abby didn't work. As I said after the leaks, I don't want new playable characters. This is a fundamental no go for a sequel for the last of us. I wouldn't have accepted it if you played Joel's brother. I just want to play Ellie or Joel. The relationship between Ellie and Joel made the first game the masterpiece that it is. There is too little off it in Part 2 and only in Flashbacks. Ten hours after Joel was killed by Abby, the game restarts and you play the three days from Abby's perspective. It just doesn't work. The player is in the same mindset as Ellie. We hate her for killing Joel. Now we are forced to play as her. We then have to take action in the form of gameplay to ensure that she survives in order to continue the game. This is the opposite of what the player wants to do. If Naughty Dog's goal was for people to stop playing this game, they have achieved their goal.

    6. Characters: There are far too many characters. In addition, these are much too underdeveloped. I will remember Henry and Sam forever. But Mel, Manny, Isaac and Jordan are such extremely boring and forgetful characters to name just a few. Yara and Lev are introduced far too late. I got confused by the characters too. Owen reportedly attacked Danny. I can't assign a face to Danny. I thought they mean Jordan. But that was the guy with the cap that Ellie and Dina killed first in Seattle. This flood of characters only causes confusion and takes time away to characterize important characters.

    7. Factions: The factions are underdeveloped. Where does the WLF get all the people and equipment from? Who is the leader of the Seraphites? Why are the Seraphites violent if their prophetess was against violence?    … Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
