I don’t know who thought a post apocalyptic revenge plot was a good idea but they should be fired for how they disrespected the story and characters built up in the first The Last of Us game. It’s so obvious that Neil Druckmann wrote this game for himself and not for the fans. The gameplay itself is basically the same as the first game with a few minor added details and the graphics are phenomenal but it’s quite literally nothing we haven’t seen before. The Last of Us Part II does nothing to innovate itself or the genre it fits in like its consumer based had hoped. It’s just absolute nonsensical for what it was.

    Spoilers: The way they disrespected Joel’s character in a way that completely tears apart the character Naughty Dog designed him to be in Part 1 is a testament to their mindset when producing the entirety of this game. And honestly how does Ellie manage to kill dozens of people throughout the entire game but OUT OF NOWHERE has an epiphany as if rEVeNgE iS WrONg when faced with the opportunity to enact the revenge that the whole story is centered around? Honestly Neil, you should re-evaluate your love for writing good original stories because this wasn’t it.    … Expand

    But the story.....if feels undeveloped. the characters deserve better than this, more personal growth, depth and development.
    More like the first game. This game really had me in tears but for the wrong reasons.

    Played it for 10 hours. Graphics are ok, and sound is acceptable. The plot is very dull and full of far left agenda. The inclussion of LGTB symbols looks very forced and there are many unnecesary sexual scenes. Don't waste your money in this game.

    Aggravating story is why this game gets a 0. I came to this game FOR the story. The gameplay gets old fast but that would be forgivable if the story was one I enjoyed... or if it even made sense. Amazing visuals. Good music. It doesn’t redeem this one though.

In fact, this criticism did not play the game, it goes towards those **** crappy subsectors, human spoils that defend CD projekt Red because they are sectarians of that company and defend cyberpunk 2077 and the Witcher 3 as if they were his parents or as if his life depended on it when in fact their lives are insignificant and everyone's dick is sweating what he's doing and nobody pays attention to them and that's why they do that. How pathetic your life, and on the other hand what they do is attack the last of us 2 because they put minorities and put characters that are lesbian and (supposedly) the game has a political agenda, say some subnormal when they don't even know what that means. I'm going to ask you one thing, **** what the hell do you care if minority or LGBT characters have gotten involved when in fact this is better for the industry because that way the public is wider and on top of that you have not created the game and surely you attack them without having a clue and without having tried it in the slightest and something else, if the developers get the hang of putting those things in, they do it because it's their game **** go with the **** Poles, bone your CD projekt **** network and when you have a law or political science degree you talk to me about what political agenda means and those political terms that you don't have you have no idea that they are worth **** **** that you talk about without a **** idea because a youtuber called saselandia brainwashes you that he does not have and also toxic video game youtubers say bull**** and you eat it with potatoes because you are **** I'm sick ok?     Destroying both main characters is not just a disaster but vadalism of a franchise after just 1 game in order to further the political views of Neil Druckmann. Naughty Dog and Sony should be ashamed of themselves destroying a franchise and dumping on fans of the game just for a far left agenda.

The game is meant to show the development of Ellie's comprehension regarding her actions, but instead it portrays her as callous and cold.

    I'm not a fan of the first game (it's to boring and overly melodramatic as for my taste) so I didn't really cared about some elements of the story that upset other gamers (you know, Star Wars-like butchery of beloved characters). But what I care about is storytelling, characters and gameplay. And TLOU2 managed to fail in all of those categories. All good games, despite all differences,I'm not a fan of the first game (it's to boring and overly melodramatic as for my taste) so I didn't really cared about some elements of the story that upset other gamers (you know, Star Wars-like butchery of beloved characters). But what I care about is storytelling, characters and gameplay. And TLOU2 managed to fail in all of those categories. All good games, despite all differences, have common traits - they gave freedom of choice to the gamer and respect that choice. TLOU2 does exact opposite to this. Gamer is literally forced to play for characters he doesn't like, to follow the story which is not involving, to made choices he doesn't want, to share opinion which he doesn't share and so on. Moreover gamer is not even allowed by the developers to express dissatisfaction with this forced agenda. All opinions which are not complimentary to this game are blamed and humiliated without consideration. Meanwhile mass-media hype and ratings are ridiculous. Seriously - calling TLOU2 right after it came out not even the "best game of the year" but "best game ever" stinks. Even when The Witcher 3 came out in May 2015 very few dare to call it "game of the year" until other games published in 2015. Only time proved greatness of TW3. And to call something as boring and silly as TLOU2 "the game of the year" same yer when Cyberpunk is expected and probably sequel to the BOTW? How biased and out of touch with reality those "critics" should have been to make such statements? How their opinion can be trusted or even taken seriously? So in addition to forced unpleasant choices, dumb story, unlikable characters, short and boring gameplay TLOU2 through biased media reviews forces gamers to share developers opinion and political agenda. Buying this game is like buying slave master who'll turn you into obedient slave and will make you suffer. I suggest some gamers are prone to masochism but generally people wouldn't pay for their own enslaving and suffering. So if you are not masochist and not dreaming about sponsoring some rich and arrogant slave master don't buy TLOU2 and demand refund if you was tricked to buy it.… Expand

    1. Graphics - 9/10 - they are good but we are in 2020, and is not like we did not had games with good graphics before or from now on ... what a stupid argument.

    2. Game-play -6/10 - nothing changed, almost like the one in 2013 ... 7 years and not that much changed, you want to tell me that awkward jump is amazing ? really ? that is the best that the critics can come up with when they give it a perfect score ?

    3. Combat and "stealth"- 5/10 - the combat its not that good, the stealth mechanics the same not that good , we have so many game which are doing the stealth and combat mechanics a lot better then TLOU 2.

    4. Story - 0/10 - the story it's garbage, you have two lesbians raiding on horses, kissing and smoking weed and doing some **** in the open world , then you play with "It's ma'am" and want to revenge you father ( a random NPC from the first game, no back story no nothing ), you run around for a little bit then switch back to the two lesbians, back to "It's ma'am" ... the you run in to Joel, he saves you life then you lead him to an hideout he tells you his name just like that , then you torture him for a little bit and in front of Ellie you smack his head with a golf club. **** you game .... then you play as Ellie who said that she will them all , after a few hours into the game you switch to "It's ma'am" and you take it from behind in a gay scene ( **** this game ) ... ...... anyway in the end Ellie finds "It's ma'am" they fight and because Ellie has a vision of Joel lets her go ( nice revenge ), then Ellie returns and wants to play the guitar, but because "It's ma'am " bite two fingers out of her she cannot ... The end ...

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just finished playing The Last of Us Part 2 and I’m very disappointed. The way that Naughty Dog handled the game is horrible and I can’t believe that someone approved this game to be release because this game was one of the games, I was the most anticipating and I don’t know what happened. They went in a completely different direction that they went for in the first game and they did not need to go out of their way for this game. The Last of Us Part 1 was about hope, redemption and family and this game have nothing of what I loved about the first game. What I loved about the first game was the story, the character development and also the development of the relationships between the characters. Joel had just lost his daughter and he did not want to care about other people because of course it’s a scary time during the apocalypse and people are dying, but his love for Ellie grew up, it felt as if it was a father/daughter relationship. Personally, I never cared that much about the gameplay of The Last of Us, for me it’s all in the story and the characters. Games like Grand Theft Auto and Mario Kart are games that I play for the gameplay much more than for the story, The Last of Us is a game that I loved because of his story. The graphics are very nice for a console game, the sounds are great, the gameplay is great, the soundtrack is excellent and the overall technical aspects of the game are awesome and I want to give props to the people that worked on those aspects of the game, they did a very good job and the work of those people should be mentioned. So now, I’ll talk about what I didn’t like in the game. First of all, I want to say that the LGBT inclusion in The Last of us didn’t bother me at all and it had the potential to be used in a great way, but in this game, it felt force and was useless at times. Ellie was lesbian and we already knew it since the Left Behind DLC, we even saw her kiss Riley and it received a lot of praise by the gamers so most people didn’t care about that, it’s just how they include it in this new game doesn’t add anything that is interesting to the story. This game contains way too many cut-scenes, some people were able to finish the game under 20 hours, I did it in 19 hours and about 10 hours of the game are cut-scenes, some of them are so long that it feels like you’re watching a movie. I would have like to receive more play-time than watch-time. The way they killed Joel is horrible writing. In the first game he is a guy that trust no one and it takes him almost a whole game to trust Ellie with who he did his whole journey and now in this second part he just blindly trusts some strangers, follow them and give them information about who he is. It’s very poorly written and for such an important character to die that way sucks because it doesn’t follow his mindset. It’s the biggest moment of the whole franchise that everybody was expecting and I don’t think anyone was expecting Joel to survive the whole game and it’s okay that he died, but the way he was kill is a complete disrespect for the fans of the first game. I didn’t really love any of the new characters, Dina was okay, but other than her I disliked everyone else especially Abby that we had to control for half the game which is a big downside because every time I played as her I didn’t want to play the game… I really hope that Neil Druckmann won’t destroy Uncharted the same way he did with Last of Us… Expand

Game is pretty long: 25-27 hours, a ton of gameplay, a visual and graphics is devastating, simply best graphics a had see so far, good sound design, good gameplay, but you’ll quickly understand, gameplay ain’t changing. I was Playing on survival difficulty, isn’t felt difficult to me, really simple stealth and combat system. Sadly we get to story, well, it’s controversial. I felt script itself is predictable, i am not only about leaked story, i am about: screamers, than makes every twist is worse and worse to characters, so u sitting and like: they really gonna use same and same story weal ? In a ending: yes. Personally, I wasn’t that disappointed, cause I was thinking Joel was make wrong decision, so I understood Abby’s character. I ain’t felt Abby’s character worst of this story. Worst in this, main idea and not going whit this to end. Vengeance makes vengeance, bla-bla-bla. Ok, I got ya, so that mean we’ll have ability to make our own decision in the end ? Right ? We gonna take side ? Drunkman: hahahah, lol, no, of course not, we gonna make most predictable ending, so predictable, than you’ll even gonna surprise to see this. Just fight between two characters.

    Sound: 8/10 Music and voices are done well. The call outs of enemies added more suspense.

    Environment: 7/10 Immersive at the best of times, but can drag on in many places to make advancing feel like a chore.

    Gameplay: 5/10 Same as the first game

    Pacing: 2/10 So little time spent enjoying character growth and so much time spent in misery. Horrible time jumps that ruin whatever good story was left.

    Characters: 2/10 Introduced several forgettable fodder characters that you will not care about and a few that you will hate. Old characters personalities are retconned in order to advance the awful plot.

    Story: 1/10 This game felt like two teams fighting each other on what game to make. The flashback scenes with Joel and Ellie felt like the first game in the best way and left me wanting so much more. The majority of the game sadly is spent as either rebellious lesbian Ellie or roid rage Abby in one of the worst examples of a creator not understanding what made their initial creation great in the first place.

    Ending: 0/10 In some vain attempt at passing along a moral to this horrid story they twist the characters to such extremes that you can place no expectations on what they will be doing the next time naughty dog decides to beat this poor dead zombie horse.    … Expand

Really spent 25 hours to not kill abby. The combat is alright. There is a lot of issues with the game. I literally smash someone's head onto a invisible wall. I just don't know anymore.     En fin yo ame este juego a nivel emocional, de historia, jugabilidad,etc...
    Y lo que no entiendo es por qué a la gente no le gustó, solo porque mataron a Joel ? Me parece una estupidez y se sabía que en algún momento tendría que morir.
    Y si no es eso la verdad no entiendo ya UE tiene exelentes gráficos, es innovador con las mecánicas de juego, la historia es una cosa que uno nunca se habría imaginado(positivamente), y ese soundtrack de Santaolalla es el sello de calidad a parte de ser de los estudios con más dedicación en sus proyectos y por eso es es el mejor juego que jamás haya tenido una generación de videojuegos.

    Druckman wrote a game that ticks all of his boxes. Yet he completely forgot that the world doesn't need to be forced to see miserable and gruesome scenes in a game all for the sake of teaching the futility in vengeance (a story Im sure we've all been embedded with from the ripe age of 5 from fairy tales) Because that is what defeats the purpose of playing a video game, we want to play games to have fun, and when a game becomes so depressing that it hurts to play as one of the main characters of the game-you've f*****d up big time. We're forced to witness characters we've grown strong bonds with make choices that betray every molecule of their anatomy. It truly is the Game of thrones season 8 of video games. Its so disappointing to see, Naughty Dog created a refreshing story back in 2013, with believable and deep characters, a world with a original spin on the zombie genre with the cordiseps virus. Conflicts that shape characters and lead to flourishing character development. For all of that growth to be stamped upon time and time again in the last of us 2 is a travesty.

    Compared to the original game We experience a 20+ hour game that is deviod of any character development, deviod of any intriguing new characters. Deviod of any spirit from the original game whatsoever that this may as well of been a spinoff game. From my experience I lost any motivation to complete this game from around the half way point. The point where you're subject to a perfect example of how to create the most unlikable character in video game history and forced to play as that said character. Perhaps if another writer had been in charge then this character could've been made justified for their actions, and even create a connection with players. But it is executed pathetically.

    Gameplay in the last of us 2 can be tedious. Thankfully they included in depth difficulty options in the game to fit the players style. However for those wanting to play on a survivor difficulty and not use these options You'll be subject to a downright boring-unfun experience. One that you will question to yourself on multiple times 'why did I buy this?'

    This is not a review of the gameplay, this is a review of the experience which is abysmal. I know that Naughty Dog lost a great portion of their team but I didn't expect the story to be such a warm packet of dogsh1t. It's the stupidest story I have ever consumed and I played Duke Nukem Forever.

    People here are just complaining cuz the didnt get their fairytale ending? That's what it looks like. Why do they say the story and characters are badly written? Sure, the first game is superior, but by no means TLUS2 is a bad game, kinda dated in the gameplay side of things, but still a solid game.
    I'll be the first one to complain about SJW agenda on hollywood and mainstream media, and yet it didnt seemed forced as many people are saying. It had been established since the first game what Ellie's sexual preferences were and tbh it didnt matter.
    Storytelling is pretty good, they make us care, you want ellie to get revenge, I dont mind Joel being dead, it gives tha player motives and it follows up from the TLU and Joel's decisions to not let Ellie die to save humanity. Cause and effect (no fairytale BS like many man childs here seem to want).
    it perfectly sets the scene for this game, revenge, either by Abby and by Ellie. Along the way both of them lose friends on each others quest for revenge.
    Another complain is having to play as Abby, while i Admit her playthrough is kinda dull, is good to know both sides of the story in an effort to understand every character's motivation and goals.
    And finally the last complain "why go through all of that if you are going te let her live?"
    I am, by no means a genius, but cmon you guys need to pay more attention to the story. When fighting Abby she has a final flashback about Joel that causes her to spare Abby. And from that we learned that Ellie confronted Joel about saving her from the fireflies a day before his death, basically telling him that she would never forgive him and pausing and finally saying that she will like to try it, explicitly saying she was on a path of forgiveness. Joel at least died knowing that.
    Killing Abby would've continued that path of revenge and wouldve made Ellie make the same mistakes he resented Joel for.
    In the end she loses Dina and her child, all for revenge.
    But narrow minded people only seem to care about Joel dying, SJW propaganda and not even try to understand the whole picture is IDIOTIC.    … Expand

    Game so infurating I actually made an account to review it.
    Gameplay same as TLOU 6/10 not terrible, not great.
    Story 4/10 it has some redeeming arcs but quickly flushes itself down the drain
    ending 1/10.

    Overall I'll give it a 3/10

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The technical traits of the game like the graphics and the gameplay are great. The flashback of Joel singing to Ellie and the surprise he had for her birthday were beautiful moments too.

    But the storyline...

    What were they thinking??? Honestly I think many people will agree with me that this whole game was a huge slap in the face from ND. The fact that the characters didn't have character development at all and they just forgot what was really important about the story. The "revenge is bad" theme could've been taught in many other ways better than this failure. We didn't see what happened to Ellie's parents, her immunity to the virus seems insignificant at this point, we couldn't see more of Joel's past in order to understand his character even more and we didn't get to see enough of Ellie's and Joel's relationship. This game had so much potential and the final product was just an excuse of a game with a more than obvious forced agenda that they forgot what really mattered. And if they tried to make me feel emphatic towards Abby they didn't succeed at all, not after how terribly this character was written. And it's no fun that I had to play as her either when I never developed a connection with her in the first place. And the fact that they used Joel to make false advertisement of the game by tricking us into believing that he was alive. Just wow. And not to mention the way he died. That was SO disrespectful to Joel's character and the fans. A character that beloved deserved better. I'm okay with that fact that he died, but the WAY he died, I'm just extremely sad and disappointed. For someone who doesn't have a real father myself and the fact that their father and daughter relationship was something I really treasured and loved and they just destroyed that by having loved characters acting out of character and seeing Ellie acting all rude towards Joel and they couldn't even have a chance to work things out between them it just leaves me heartbroken. They were the essence of the game and now that has vanished for me and I'm sure many feel the same way. I was really hoping this was going to be a beautifully crafted story but I guess the wallet was more important than actual storytelling. Maybe this will teach them that caring for their fans, story and characters is better rather than pushing a message that just comes out as forced and negative.    … Expand

    they Blow out the legacy of part 1, this is a story driven game so story is its prime strength and prime selling point
    part 2 has : an awful story, with very silly characters ( never compared to the lovable ones in part 1 )
    the Ending is a disaster
    Plus huge amount of enforced/unnecessary LGBT content that is not suitable for a game with such huge audience all around the world.

    Barely any innovations or cool mechanics like the first game. Horrible plot holes, story elements and token characters that make the game feel less genuine unlike the first one. All of these things just serve as a device to appease a group of people for positive well timed marketing and have no actual place in a highly rated piece of art, which this is not.
