    Please just save your money. I know I wish I did. Barring graphics, there is no improvement from the last game. The story is unfulfilling and shocking for the sake of being shocking. Seriously, skip this one.

    Ridículo, a ND esqueceu que o que consagrou o primeiro jogo foi a história. Aí nos    Jogo decepciona em todos os sentidos do quesito história.     Ridículo, a ND esqueceu que o que consagrou o primeiro jogo foi a história. Aí nos força criar empatia por uma personagem fraca e sem sentido dae tal forma. E aquele final? Que coisa ridícula! Mensagem de que a vingança não vale a pena, mas a Ellie a matou todo mundo que entrou na frente, para chegar no fim fazer aquela merda. Prefiro esquecer que esse jogo se quer foi lançado.

    Sou fã incondicional do primeiro jogo, mas esse segundo foi um fiasco.

    Se gostaram do primeiro pela história e personagens cativantes, não jogue este porque irá jogar dinheiro fora.    … Expand

    All style, no substance. The idea of violence being a viscious circle is handled really poorly, and isn't exactly new. It conveys a middle school level of philosophy that is as shallow as it's narrative.

    This "Game" has nothing to do with the first one. It's just a Very bad Game, the storytelling is trash, the gameplay nothing new, crafting is from 2000, (graphics are good, that's why it's 1 not a 0) and the worst of all that you need to suffer through all this while playing a steroid pumped gorilla that's not even close to look like a women

    I enjoyed the game and I think the plot matches perfectly with flashbacks and present.
    The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that you play too much with this character and not Ellie, but it’s fine.
    Just don’t judge the game for what happened and try to understand the story.

    I absolutely love this game. I was a huge fan of the first game so when I saw this was announced I pre-ordered immediately. What an amazing job they’ve done over there at Naught Dog. A very talented team all across the board. I’m excited to see what other games they put out in the future! All of you guys who are bombing this rating because you think it’s pandering to the SJWs need to get aI absolutely love this game.     Never in a million years I thought I would be writing this review. I was insanely excited for this game , finished within 3 days - 30 hours. Utterly disappointed with the story arc and character development. Misleading trailers , half game is you know what. Please don’t make a third.     Gameplay and graphics- awesome. Story telling and doing justice to beloved characters- massive failure. Neil suckman really did a number on this game. They should of left it alone and not made a sequel instead of giving us this. It sucks cuz I like the gameplay a fair bit more than the first game but the story is just bad

    I was looking forward for the second part since the moment I played TloU 1 the first time. I absolutely loved that game! When I heared they are working on the second I was sure they will deliver a worthy sequel...boy was I wrong. What did they do in the planning phase? Did they discuss how they can mess up the game and the fan base as much as possible? The music is nice as well ut the story is absolutely horrible. Which was the stron part of the first game is the biggest weakness of the second part. Not just the story as it is is bad, but also the way it is presented is just bad. What comes on top of it that there are no loveable characters at all. Also one of the strong party of the first game. The second part only has boring, one dimensional depressed characters that you just dont care about at all.

    And the cherry on the cake is this massive "plot twist" where Naughty Dog forces you into playing the antagonist killed your most beloved character. ND wants you to care about the view of the antagonist but dude, thats not gonna work! She just killed "my dad" for F sake. I just want to kill her ad not play with her. It like they would have tried to make a loveale character out of Joffrey in Game of Thrones and put the focus on him after all the bad stuff he has done. It just wont work.

    I really dont know what Naughty Dog was thinking here. And also I really dont get the high rating from the magazines. 95% really??? I absolutely lost my trust in many magazines from this. For me the biggest dissapointent of 2020...and that says a lot!    … Expand

    Star Wars, Game of Thrones season 7&8 and now Last of Us Part 2, what is wrong with the writers today. Where is coherent and creative storytelling gone. Such a beloved game ruined in everyway for a political movement. No wonder most of the studio/team left. Really disappointing.

    You have to look at the context of me giving this game a 4/10 ! probably this game is a GOTY nominee, as a stand alone game it's pretty amazing. But this is not a stand alone game, this is the sequel of one of the greatest games ever created, and in that context it's a dissapointment. Killing off a major leading character sometimes payoff with a dramatic effect that make us sad and will make us cry, and thats good, even if the death is gruesome and violent. This is not one of those times! i felt nothing when Joel died! and this is WRONG! it was poorly handled and it took me out of the game for the next few hours playing it. When the game finally picked up for me is when I - as Elly- was hunting down the group that involved in killing Joel - mainly Abby- and I was LOVING it! Until, the game forced me to play as Abby in literally the full second half of the game! i believe I played as Abby the same amount of Elly. Except that i didn't care one pit about her! and here where the writing really fall off for me. Making the player spend hours and hours playing as the protagonist killer is not going to pull us to her side, insted it pushes us away further! I really understood where the creative team of Naughty Dog are going for here and why they made their decisions the way they were, and I still find it not a compelling way to tell the story they wanted to tell. In the end of the game, I left with one feeling I really don't think Naughty Dog were looking for, and that feeling was "Whatever!"

    I played The Last of US (Part One) too many times, and I enjoyed it every single playthrough. Because I knew that the outcome of the game is something special, and I'm playing for a purpose I'm invested in. The last of Us Part II in the other hand, not so much! I don't see myself replaying it ever again because it is an average "meh" game. I really couldn't care less about Abby's adventure, and the outcome of the story is flat that make the experience not worth the second playthrough.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Beautiful graphics. Awful story. Killing Joel off immediately for a revenge storyline was lazy. Best part is all of the flashbacks. With Joel, the character killed off in a lazy way. Who is tied for 1 best character in the series. Hating Abby from the start, playing her the 1st time was annoying, playing her for half of the game made me hate her even more somehow. Wasting so much time on characters that literally nobody cares about was easily the most ridiculous decision I've ever scene in modern gaming.

    Having the primary climax of the game be from the perspective of a character I already hate was just pathetic. Ellie basically has no interaction with the Scars, no interaction with the trans kid whatever his name was, and we waste time reviewing backstory for characters the MAIN character already killed, levels upon levels upon pointlessness. Then having Abby beat up Ellie made me dislike this character even more somehow. Somehow they managed. And then Ellie doesn't even end up with Dina at the end of the game. I get having a gritty realistic story but this was 24 hours of pointless gameplay.

    Having us play as her with her dad was enough to get the player to empathize with Abby, did not need to play most of the game as her, who cares. Forcing these characters into the game mid sentence was the most infuriating thing I have ever scene in a game. Interrupt the most pivotal part of the story to shove new characters in, both of which are not in the least interesting, don't develop at all, and have no character traits other than a description of their gender and sexuality was a massive waste of time. They also get in the way of time that could have been spent with Dina. Ellie and Dina have great chemistry as characters and they are shoved to the side for what? Why on Earth you would build up some of the most beloved characters in gaming and then waste our time with this nonsense is beyond me.

    Joel's death led up to nothing, Abby's story led up to nothing, Ellie tracking her down across the country led up to nothing, and the new character's sister died and it led up to nothing. There was so much potential for this game and the strangest thing is that I was trying to be open first half of the game. Again, it is beautiful but cutting the first part of the game in half to waste our time with bloated, lazy, pathetic storytelling was such a stupid move. At least have Abby as a dlc mission and not cut away from the main characters relationship. I've never played a game with more of an identity crisis.

    The flashbacks were fantastic. I honestly would have been happy with a shorter game where Ellie gets some sort of revenge, setting the bar low, but the timing was such a disgusting bait and switch. it was never said that Ellie wasn't in half the game. 0 out of 10. Neil is a great writer but I do not expect to look for creatives for political advice. Not a smart move to appease gaming blogs and ignore your actual fanbase. But hey, at least they love the game now because you have a trans character, a lesbianic couple, and an amputee Asian girl who looks slightly autistic. They've kept basically the same gameplay as the original game and although enjoyable it remains a bit clunky. So what keeps you going just like the first one is the game being story-driven, unfortunately the already struggling story goes downhill the moment you start playing as Abby. When you reach what seems to be the final confrontation as Ellie the scene ends and you start playing as Abby, cutting the story when it gets interesting to force me to walk as slowly as possible and watch as many boring cutscenes about character i don't care for is a terrible choice. You quickly realize they're not gonna kill this character with how much effort was put into telling her story in a forced attempt to empathize and mirror some of Ellie's own story as in your face as possible. I just couldn't find myself to care and only kept pushing in the hopes that when I switch back to Ellie I get to kill this b*tch. Except you don't switch to Ellie instead as Abby you beat the **** out of the characters that you actually cared about. Do a timeskip and Ellie and Dina are living on a farm (talk about lesbian stereotypes) when Tommy shows up to tell you he found Abby. Ellie goes after her, loses some fingers and when she's almost drowning Abby to death she has a change of heart... So she spares her just like Abby did the last two confrontations and Abby leaves on the Main Menu boat. Ellie returns home to find her girlfriend is gone and the game ends. The low score is because this mediocre a** story is an insult to the protagonists of the original. Joel is dead and Ellie is living her biggest fear, ending up alone. I get it the boats symbolizes loneliness, but there's not enough here to justify the cruelty which the writers inflict on Ellie.… Expand

Nothing makes the player feel motivated to 'get revenge' as the entire reason players enjoyed the first game is destroyed in the beginning. What is the point of getting revenge if the developers remove the reason you picked the game up in the first place?

    It is nice to see LGBT characters central to the plot and their relationship doesn't feel overly forced, but their writing is so banal you don't even want to try caring about their protection. They go off on long, uninteresting conversations as if the writers are trying to make the writing and their backstories feel real, but it just comes off us predictable and bothersome.

    There is really nothing interesting gameplay wise that this game does better than any of its contemporaries; you walk into a new area and know exactly where the next firefight will take place after you reach the next cutscene.
    This is pretty much the underlying disappointment of this game - it is entirely predictable in every aspect.

    They say the game is being review-bombed for its inclusion of LGBT content and 'ugly' central antagonist, but may I suggest that it may be getting review bombed by the professional gaming industry with positive reviews because they WANT and NEED it to succeed.

    This is a complete failure in story-telling, character development, the thematic ties to its setting, originality and ultimately being a successor to one of the most beloved games of the 21st century.

Combat is practically the same from the first, stealth is basically the same with the new mechanic of being able to go prone, it's the same deal with the jump button it didn't need to be there.
    From what I recall there are only 2 new enemy types. Dogs and Shamblers. Both are easy to deal with. Dogs can pick up your scent which is cool I guess but it's easily avoidable. Place a mine behind you and the dog is practically dealt with.
    Just throw molotovs, mines or whatever you can at Shamblers and pump them full of lead. There's no real strategy other than shoot it until it's dead. It's AOE attacks are also easily avoidable.
    Bosses in the game are absolutely boring and require the basic dodge 3 times, do a 3 hit combo and repeat.
    The puzzles don't take any brainpower to figure out and could've been left out of the game entirely. The puzzles from Spider-Man PS4 were more well implemented than this rubbish.

    Music, voice acting, graphics, accessibility and world building are incredible there's not much else I can say on those things.

    Now the story, the thing that's got people raging.
    I'm not going to spoil the ending but all you need to know is, is that the ending renders Ellie's journey pointless and a complete waste of time.
    ND deliberately made people believe a certain someone is featured prominently in the story with the marketing when in actuality what they do is pull a bait and switch. If you've already seen revenge stories before, you'll quickly understand where this one goes.
    The only characters that are likeable in this story are:
    Joel
    Tommy
    Jesse
    Alice
    Who's Alice you say? She's a dog, and the fact that I cared more about a dog that had 20 minutes screen time more than the main character speaks volumes.
    Ellie in this game is a thundering **** to her friends and her girlfriend. She makes stupid decisions, learns nothing throughout the game bar the ending, kills hundreds of people through the gameplay without remorse but when she kills someone in a cutscene she gets overwhelmed with emotions. The only time Ellie is remotely likeable is when she's in a flashback with Joel.

    Dina is boring, unfunny, annoying, like Ellie makes insanely stupid decisions, a burden. This character is the one who's the ai companion for the majority of the game. Dina doesn't hold a candle to the relationship of Joel and Ellie from the first game. Not much of the story changes if Dina wasn't in the game.

    Abby is the new character who early on in the game kills someone the player is very attached to. The writers leading up to this part deliberately made 2 characters stupid in order to progress the plot. Abby is extremely unlikable, unfunny, boring and quite frankly Abby is someone you don't want to be spending 10+ hours with, the true sin with this character is that you're forced to play as her and sympathize with her.
    The less said about Lev the better so I'll make it quick. Lev is not portrayed to have much flaws. He's arrogant, selfish, annoying and a burden. The only reason why Lev is in this game is because he's trans and the actor who plays him is trans. If Lev wasn't in this game, it would be much better and shorter since a large section if the game is dedicated to him. And it's not because he's trans, it's because his personality is so infuriating.
    Abby's group are loaded with unlikable and uninteresting characters, I'd be here all day if I talked about each one.

    ND want you to either love or hate this game. The only way ND fails is if you become indifferent to the game. Give it a "meh" score and forget it exists. If you say to ND that you are indifferent or meh or it's ok middle of the road rubbish, that'll speak volumes to them. ND are expecting you to say "I hate the story and I hate these characters" if you say the game is serviceable and quickly forget about it that would do a dent, because they have failed to get a reaction out of you.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played through the game in about 20 hours, and I must say, this is a masterpiece to me. Apart from some pacing issues in the story, everything was an amazing experience. The gameplay is a mayor upgrade from the first game, but still has the core of that game, so if you didn't like that gameplay then you probably won't enjoy the gameplay of the second game. The visuals are the best I've ever seen on PS4 and I couldn't stop using the photo mode every two seconds. The sound design is ofcourse also beautiful and makes the atmosphere even more immersive. The story also took a very different path than the first game. Most people don't like way Joel's death was handled and the character Abby. I'm actually fine with the way Joel's death was done and his choices don't seem unrealistic to me. The different perspectives you play through during the story also make a lot of sense and show more of the theme of no clear bad guys or good guys. I liked Abby's character and playing as her also showed the "good" side of her. People are also unhappy with the ending but I really think it makes sense. At the last moment Ellie comes to the realization of the cost of revenge and because of that she let's Abby go. That was her only way of finding peace with Joel's death and she realizes that. It has the same feeling as the first games ending and made me even more emotional. Overall, this is a game I would definitely recommend. It is definitely not a game for everyone though. The story takes a way different route and certainly for fans with specific expectations, this may not be an enjoyable experience for them. Next to that, reading the leaks afterwards, I understand why the game would seem very bad. But most of the narrative has been left out in that, and I think people really need to have played this game/watched the ENTIRE playthrough (not just a couple hours) to form a good opinion. Most people are basing their opinions on Joel's death and the fact you play as Abby for 40% of the game, but I think that's unjustified. And even if it had a garbage story, I'd actually still buy it because the gameplay, visuals and scenery are still **** amazing. But with this great revenge story with it, it's a 10/10 for me. (And yes, 10/10 doesn't mean it has zero flaws. But this is definitely my game of the year and it may even be one of my favourite games of all time, so it deserves a 10.)… Expand

    Сюжет является самой спорной частью игры. Спойлеров не будет. Заранее скажу, он НЕ является нелогичной хренью с непонятной мотивацией персонажей, логическими ошибками и плевком в первую часть, но и выдающимся его назвать сложно.
    Если The last of us была, с сюжетной точки зрения, прямолинейной понятной большинству игрой, то в сиквеле всё намного сложнее. Вырывая игрока из зоны комфорта и погружая в ультра-насилие, автор хочет донести мысль о том как на самом деле работает мир пандемии, где нет ни героев, ни злодеев. Это не является жестокостью ради жестокости. В дальнейшем это развивается в идею "Не важно насколько низко ты пал. Будучи человеком, ты всё ещё можешь, осознавая свои грехи, стань лучше в этом сумасшедшем мире". Самым главным для меня минусом оказалось, что сюжет НЕ фокусируется на одном герое. Ты не проживаешь эту серо-моральную историю вместе с персонажами, а, в большинстве случаев, наблюдаешь со стороны. В фильме, где несколько сторон конфликта, это работает хорошо, в игре, где очень важна эмоциональная связь протагониста и игрока, это приводит к диссонансу и вызывает спектр противоречивых эмоций. Была ли это изначальная задумка? Скорее всего - да. Оправдан ли этот риск? Пусть Дракман решает. Возможно не стоило такую непростую историю выпускать на широченную аудиторию.
    Кратос говорил "всегда занижай ожидания и никогда не будешь разочарован", Аршавин говорил "ваши ожидания - ваши проблемы" и это чистая правда. Я эти цитаты принял на вооружение, большинство - нет. Поэтому у народа бомбануло и теперь они на каждом ресурсе какуют на игру, обвиняя в несоответствии со своими фантазиями. Хотя после сливов другого ожидать не стоило.
    Итог: 8из10
    The last of us part 2 в большей степени мне понравилась, не смотря на то, что лично я её не хотел и не просил. Особенно доставили отсылка на "Принцесса Моноке" и социальный комментарий про трайбализм. Игра никогда не войдёт в мой топ, но и мне от этого не обидно. Мир.    … Expand

    You know how in the witcher 3 you could decide with who you want to have sex or just not have sex at all and focus in the game. Well in this game get ready because if you are ready or not, your eyes are going to get F when you see how the character that you use(abby) is going to get it if you wanted or not. However, the enviroment is incredible so it gets one point for it.

    If you want to play a game where try to do the best but still you get F all the time then play this game. In my case i am going to leave it where is at and i just prefer to wait for the complete spoilers and not spend more hours playing this thing.    … Expand

Just finished the game and enjoyed all segments, the fact that this game is getting review bombed is really bizzare as it gives one of the best single player experiences to date. I completed the game in just over 24 hours and can’t wait to get back in and do it all again in new game plus. The game in my opinion does a good job in terms of story as it attempts to show both sides of a story even if they know most are going to be in favor of the lead characters from the first game instead of the new antagonist/ protagonist depending on how you want to view them. Whilst I can say Ellie’s segments were tense and fun there was also an equal amount of player satisfaction when playing as Abby as some of the set pieces you explore with her can prove to be better than Ellie’s in some cases. For Abby there were many moments that enjoyable with my favorite scene being in her portion of the game even though I prefer Ellie as a character, this scene being the ground zero area of the hospital where you encounter the most terrifying infected to date. I’d say my only complaints with the game is that there is no real reward for completing it and finding all artifacts, entries, workbenches, safes etc other than points you can spend on concept art and character models when I feel as if it would have benefited from an unlock to look forward to such as a special weapon, outfits (which were present in the first game but removed here) or a cutscene to add complete closure on what I assume is the last we will see of our characters after the ending was still a bit open ended with it being unclear if Ellie returns to Jackson, where Abby went, Tommy’s reaction to hearing what Ellie did and many other things which I hope we find out either through media or possible dlc. All in all I believe the game is a faithful sequel that stays true to its roots whilst adding new mechanics that added enjoyment to my play through, I grew to like new characters and hate others only to have my initial opinions dissipate (in a good way) and I hope we see future dlc or a new game in the series at some point in the future. 9/10 solid game and thoroughly enjoyed.… Expand

If we're regarding technical part of naughty dog's product, there are no questions, the game is wonderful, competing with red dead redemption 2's detailing level and graphics. I'm not lying, it's a technical masterpiece. But, regarding the story, i have several questions. What happened to female characters, they're all so ugly, with male-like bodies. I'm not sexist, but it looks weird.
    Also, what happened to straight-white males protagonists, they are missing. Also i'm not sexist, but it's discrimination, story runining choice.
    In which point of game developement, naughty dog choose to kill Joel and replace him with a weird trans antagonist. This literally destroyed me. Killing the best protagonist of all time, how it's a good choice?
    Okay, i'll throw my right-wing education, and ask another question: What happened to the story, it's awful, where's is the excellent the last of us part 1 plot? Okay, but what happened to critics score, why it's higher than first one?     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.

    If you loved the original for its great characters and well-paced story – stay away from this game. However, if you’re aching to sink into the depths of depression, or just want to cut some throats and burn some zombies – Part II will deliver. [Issue#247, p.72]
