    Worst story ever. Naughty dog just killed all they joy on this game. Graphics are awesome but the writing and story are crapp. It's like the whole writing team made a career suicide.

    Great gameplay and great story. The graphics are amazing and this is one of the best looking games I've ever seen. There are a lot of people out there just review bombing it just to make sure it gets a bad score. My opinion is if you really liked the original then give this a try for yourself don't listen to others as we all have different opinions.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part II isn't a bad game. But it isn't brilliant. The first 12 hours as Ellie were perfect. I was an emotional mess, even having to take a break when Joel died. But I loved it. I loved how well the emotion was being delivered and I loved revisiting this world and the characters of Ellie and Joel. The relationship between those two characters was such a huge element of the first game and it continued through the flashbacks in this game.

    So it felt like a slap in the face when I was handed control of Abby in Seattle. I know it's not uncommon to play a character you aren't too fond of in a video game, but this felt like the wrong game to do that. Her gameplay was insufferable. I just lost interest as soon as I realised how long I was going to play her. There was such a strong attachment to Joel and Ellie taken from the first game, so you didn't even want to give the person who ruined their dynamic a chance.

    On a more positive note however, Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker's performances were incredible and the museum scene was absolutely beautiful.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Where to begin with this game...I avoided the rumors, ignored all the copyright abuse of sony for so much as breathing about this game. I wanted to believe Naughty Dog would deliver as they did for the first game. BOY was I wrong: the only thing they did (like the first game) made it look nice. This is a BEAUTIFUL game. The problem is the story and characters. Whoever wrote them needs to be fired and blacklisted because what I was forced to endure was The Last Jedi levels of terrible story writing and character assassination.

    Joel, the way they send off this amazing character is disgusting. We're forced to play a disgusting and terrible woman after we watch her BEAT Joel's head in with a golf club and Naughty Dog expects us to LIKE HER!? She is fundamentally an evil character, every time I played her I purposely let her die because I found it humors against this character who had done nothing to make me like her. Seven years of waiting for this game and all we're rewarded with is Abby practicing her golf stroke on Joel's head!

    The entire game there is nothing to make her endearing, nothing to make her sympathetic or understandable, and at the end when Ellie, who until now has carved a bloody path to get to this disgusting character, has her hands around her neck choking her...she lets her go...WHAT!? The person who KILLED Joel, your father figure, after you carved a bloody path to get to her and you LET HER GO!?

    I don't care about the 'Revenge is bad' dumb message, this is an insult to Joel, Ellie, and all the loyal fans who waited nearly 7 years for this game, only for Sony and Neil to slap us in the face and tell us we better like their **** or else we're every name in the book companies call us when we don't like the message they're trying to force down our throat.

    1/10. The Last of Us stood out thanks to its amazing story and beautiful graphics. This game only has graphics and a pice of **** story that will be forever remembered for being absolute garbage. I hope it was worth it Naughty Dog.    … Expand

The game has an excellent plot and gameplay, it breaks through emotions during the passage. 90 percent of the people who put it to 0 on this site have not played a game and will never play it.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is the worst game I've played in the last decade. I was a huge fan of the first game, and played it on release in 2013 on the PS3. I've played the remastered version on the PS4 13 times on record, and it remains one of my favourite games of all time.

    This game seems to undo everything that made the first game so great. I felt misled by ths trailers, as we actually end up playing 70% of the game as Abby and not Ellie. A character Naughty Dog forces us to play as, and one of the most unlikeable characters in the history of media. Seriously, this character is horribly written and there's nothing to like. No, she's not transgender like many people would have you believe but she is not built like any real female so this makes her even more unbelievable. She does horrible things to characters we care about, and they force us to do some of these awful things as this she-hulk like character to the point I nearly stopped playing. It's that bad. The graphics are gorgeous, but that's it really. The gameplay is similar to the first, so it's good fun, but when you don't care about the story or character you're playing as it just doesn't work. I hated all 21 hours of this game (not the 30-35 advertised), have now deleted it and will not re-install. Very disappointed with this after a long 7 year wait. Booked time off work, and upgraded to a PS4 pro console for nothing.    … Expand

He did something bad, whatever good reason he had, he did something bad, and killed a lot of people. The game does a great job showing you the consequences of his actions and how not everything if black and white. Ellie and Joel are NOT good people entirely (Joel sacrificed humanity for Ellie, Ellie killed a pregnant woman). But, the main bad guys of the story aren’t also entirely evil, nor good. We’re showed the WLF as this bad faction and militarized thing and bad all around but then you get to see their society and how your actions also affect “REAL” people’s lives. Everyone has their reasons, and good reasons, to do the things they did. Joel killed Abby’s dad for Ellie, and Abby had every right to kill Joel. And Ellie has her right to be angry and vengeful but that doesn’t make her a good person, no one is. This is great story telling. You play both sides and it is compelling. I was mad when I got to play as Abby again because I love Joel, but then I got why that happen. Again, great storytelling, great art style, great gameplay (drags on a little by the end, but because I wanted no get to the end so badly and know that happens), great graphics and technical achievements, etc. Truly a masterpiece. Not perfect, but it achieved everything it set out to made.… Expand

    I have put 40 hours in this game, i have platinumed it to completion and fully finished it twice. The game is incredible, it does better then the first in every way. Game play is fun and exciting, story is gripping and emotional, acting is amazing. Graphics are beautiful and screenshot worthy. This game deserves to be recognised as one of the greats along with every other naughty dog game

It was an amazing game, beautiful visuals and amazing character design. The game had points in the story that captured my attention and made me getbvery emotional. All i can say is most of the reviews people have put up aren't from people whose finished the game or even played it, they've never gotten to experience its amazing performance. The game is very well laid oit and made it is eaily the game of the years.Playing this game give me the same feeling and love as i had for the first one.before readind any old review just play the game yourself and try to understand the kind of game that was made. It is an amazing sequel and an amazing story. The game is very deserving of its praise and for true fans to play it. Not only that but due to the horrendous way naughty dog went about the whole leak situation caused their image as a company to deprecate.

Rarely are these moments provoking in a positive connotation. It’s extremely telling when youtube comments and posts on social media are more thought provoking and lay the groundwork for an exponentially better story arc than what played out in the multiple hours of game play found in The Last of Us 2. This video game pales in comparison to the first iteration and I advise against anyone wasting their money and especially time on this dumpster fire. I suppose the expression “the sequel is always worse” hits it mark once again. Ill give this game a 1/10 purely for that fact that it ran.… Expand

As opposed to actually making sense.

    That said based on what I’ve seen I wouldn’t call Ellie a feminist charcter. Her combat is somewhat realistic and we see her in pain at some moments in trailer - something Mary Sue characters tend to be lacking (Captain Marvel or Ray from Star Wars, for example)

    Graphics look fantastic. I love when graphics are done good. That said I played Uncharted 4 once and never opened it again. Graphics isn’t the most important thing in the game, and it never will.

    I decided not to get it. Looks like it was a good decision - important to note that most of the reviews you see here were written by critics working for left-wing sites like Polygon, Kotaku, or IGN. These people would give the game 10 only to avoid being called homophobes by their colleagues LOL

    If you are still on the fence, go and rewatch trailers - but this time assume that the game is bad, just for the sake for it. Note that the dialogues are nowhere near the first part. Try to find actually interesting characters. Think about whether or not the story they tease her is a good departure from the original.

    No way the game is 10/10

    I read reviews. Many note that the game has problems with pacing and poorly written characters.

    Excited to see Ghost of Tsushima’s reviews next month. Could be a proper finale to this generation    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. the only thing that saves this game from having a score of zero is its graphics and game play the actual story is lack luster and the killing of Joel would have great if used properly but takes the use of it and defiles any meaning you could have gained from it only being used to turn ellie into a "villain" i genuinely couldn't care that she's lesbian it was introduced in the first game and it makes sense but gleaning everything out of her personality to focus on it is abysmal story writing and frustrates fans of the series many of us would have been just happy with a transgender lead character *which naughty dog now says is actually a female* as a protagonist but its not used in anyway other than a sex scene which pulled me right out of my immersion of the game and trying to act like it was some sort of plot twist but its not its juts uncomfortable for people to watch now to a main complaint i hear and want to address i wouldnt have cared if Joel died in this game it would have been intriguing to see how ellie would have handled the loss of her surrogate father but they turned it into a revenge story where ellie became the villain and you had to play as the sick animals who bashed Joels brains in which was even more upsetting and gave me less reasons to root for them other than them being cardboard cut outs over all underwhelmed and severally angry at this game don't waste your money wait until its 10$ or less to purchase because it is just god awful and completely disrespects the first games masterpiece of a story line and characters… Expand

    Great game. Don’t listen to the Haters. I replayed the first one just a couple weeks ago. Everything is better about this sequel game other than aguably the story, and it’s not worse either... it was just already great, and this just feels like a continuation of that.

    1) They killed the protagonist of the first part (Joel) at the very beginning of the game, not allowing new players to feel sympathy for this character. He was shown in a couple of points on which it is impossible to conclude what he really is and what connects him with Ellie.

    2) Joel wouldn’t trust strangers like that, much less go to the first comers to the base. He was killed very stupidly and brutally. Without revealing the character at least a little, for new players who did not pass the first part. Look at RDR2, and remember the finale .. there isn’t even that close.

    3) The ending of the game is something with something, in front of Ellie’s eyes, they cruelly kill the person dearest to her, his brother and she herself are crippled. She goes to avenge Joel, killing so many people along the way, everyone who gets in her way. And in the finale, instead of completing what she started, she lets go of her hands .. Neil Druckmann, you should have found a screenwriter, the plot as a spit in the direction of fans of the first part.    … Expand

    Il finale può essere sicuramente messo in discussione, ma, a parer mio, solo da chi ha vissuto in prima persona l'opera; da chi ha passato 30 ore con il controller in mano, a giocare e vivere la storia di Ellie ed Abby.
    La maggior parte delle persone che sotto i video o su Metacritic scrive “Tutto questo non ha senso: l'ha risparmiata dopo un intero gioco in cui cerca di ucciderla e assassina chiunque. 0/10” non ha nemmeno idea di cosa possa essere passato per la testa alla protagonista in quel momento. Non mi permetterei mai di giudicare un videogioco in modo estremamente negativo o di lasciare una recensione con un voto basso senza prima averlo giocato e finito.     I think what Naughty Dog did with the last of us part 2 is disgusting. Naughty dog lied to my face they said that Joel will be a playable character well if you count that 30 seconds horse riding at the begining of the game than **** yourself and also they have said that Ellie will be the only playable character in the game thats an other lie because after the first half oft the game you will be playing with a stranger who killed Joel brutally and you have to play with that character and the game wants you to love that character who killed Joel who i think one of my favourite gaming characters of all time. The second half of the story is unnecessary and cringe when i was playing with that stranger character whose name is Abby i felt disgusted because i did not want to play with her they tried to show the other side of the war and the people who we were killing with Ellie aren't evil and they have human sides too but they could have done it in only 1 chapter not in 3. At the second part of the game i felt like that Naughty dog ran out of ideas and they just mixed up something very fast. Not to forget that the ending of the game is really bad because when you are fighting with Abby and in the end Ellie can't kill her i mean i can see what Naughty Dog tried to show us that killing enybody isnt gonna solve anything but this is how it has to be ? Every major character in the game got killed and in the end i felt like i did this whole thing for nothing. The last os us 1 wast great because of its great characters and memorable father and daughter story line for Joel and Ellie but the second episode just lacks everything which the first was so good in.    … Expand

The graphics and gameplay were so fluid and phenomenal, at times I was just amazed at how well this game looked and felt as I played. A lot of people complain about the story, but they must not have finished the game because it all makes perfect sense, you actually feel the loss and grief of Joel’s death throughout the entire game, which makes the whole point of the story make sense. Abby is a total bone-head and as Mel says, a piece of **** but in the end, she loses everything and gets what she deserves. She also spares Ellie twice in the game and she tries to redeem herself . The game did not push any agenda like these bigots review bombing rn are saying, it barely mentions that one character is trans, but it isn’t sugar coated either. I am still recovering for a few days of beating it because I literally mourn for some of these losses. The game is jaw-dropping at moments and the gameplay is irresistibable. I will be replaying it again. Absolute masterpiece.… Expand
