    We waited 5+ years for a dumpster fire. A good looking dumpster with forgettable characters and horrible writing but a dumpster nonetheless. What an absolute travesty.

One of the worst sequels ever in narrative terms for one of the best games ever made, the creators of Last if Us 2 shows us that they have no idea of the gamers and what they fell in love with of the first game. The character of Joel enabled us to feel with him and be part of his journey and care for him and his choices but the sequel just took him out killed him and made it an unnecessary revenge story where as it should have progressed the journey of Joel and Ellie on the consequences of his actions on their living evolving relationship.… Expand

    From a technical standpoint, the game is a masterpiece. The story is great too. Although not as good as the first one, it doesn't take away from it, if anything it improves upon it.
    Seeing the story play from two different points of view is interesting.
    Definitely would recommend.

    This is a game with a craftsmanship and production effort worth its asking price. Review-bombing this game is just the latest gamer-driven social media fad, and anyone with a bone to pick is giving it a zero like a voice crying out in the wilderness. It's actually not that bad.

    Are we sure Neil Druckmann didn't have collaboration with D&D? The graphics and gameplay look amazing and fantastic. The story however, offsets any kind of achievement and praise I have for the game. This series will always be known for its storytelling. Just this time around it's a pretty bad one instead.

How did it all go so badly wrong for The Last Of Us 2? Visuals: one of the few redeeming features, the visuals are very good, coupled withAnd with this one game, big name journalists (IGN, Polygon, VG24/7, Eurogamer etc) if their reputations in recent years weren't already badly damaged and reduced to the court jesters of gaming journalism, their fate is sealed by a once loved franchise. How did it all go so badly wrong for The Last Of Us 2? Visuals: one of the few redeeming features, the visuals are very good, coupled with sound effects, the animations make killing enemies and such hold more weight than before. Motion capture of faces and lip sync are no issue, all done well as is the voice acting. Sound effects: Again not where the game faulters, the music; often ambient or acoustic is typical of apocalyptic narratives nowadays, for instance The walking dead series. Voice acting is mostly believable, and weapons etc haven't been lazily done. Gameplay: this is where things start to get a tad shaky, the gameplay is reminiscent of the first game a decade or more ago, it's not fast paced action, there's different pacing mixed between some exploration and scantily clad puzzle solving that's weaker and more basic than the first game. Mostly linear sections where you're encouraged to use stealth or distraction to move past or take down enemies. The formula though ok is a bit dated even with all the nice visuals and animations. Storyline: And this is where it all falls to pieces for different reasons. Firstly, what was the first game? An endearing father/daughter like relationship through a dark and hopeless world, with moments of humour or light shone in from Ellie and the few loveable characters. No agenda, no desperation to gain brownie points from certain social activists or groups. Just a story anyone can get behind and enjoy. What has this game done? It's for the most part distanced itself from that winning formula, no attempt to build upon or improve it, one of the most beloved of two characters feels the ramifications of this. The new characters aren't loveable and interesting this time around. The storyline boils down to a cheap soap opera, and the awful direction it goes, the cringe that befalls it, the destruction of a lovely chemistry between two great characters that people simply wanted to see built upon. It's all gone to pave the way for a social justice agenda, for the gain of brownie points, for multiple gay but somehow also bi characters with a bonus diversity character. And it's a colossal disaster. Sarkeesian being involved along with the questionable new director (Druckmann) were a big red flag, all but confirmed by various leaks and studio employees apparently being removed for questioning the bizarre story direction. There's also a distasteful and appalling scene I won't allude to for spoilers sake that appears to involve Druckmann (the game's now director) himself, or a very bizarre likeness to them; as placed within the game as a character. This scene also highlights Sony's appalling hypocrisy on censorship of more innocent nude in other titles, not even sex scenes like this. Then before the review embargo, 10/10 from already questionable journalists, with the knowledge Sony strictly prohibited much of the game being reviewed; namely the parts that players were worried about. But it turns out most of this was all true, and the game does have pretty awful, agenda driven story, that tries to hide behind the guise of a cheap revenge flick porn. The original game managed to make Ellie's sexuality feel very natural, no LED neon arrows above it, and not a main feature of the story and game, just purely natural design choice. This game manages to make every LGBTQ/SJW topic feel as fake and forced for brownie points and pandering, as Katie Prices chest. And it really detracts from immersion, throw in the poor storyline, shallow characters and somewhat dated mechanics, and you have real heavy fall from grace. There isn't even and choice given at key moments, you're forced to watch it painfully unfurl. The best option is to keep the memory of the first game and leave it there, don't soil it (and soiled it will certainly be) by playing this disappointment of the this gen of gaming.

    Verdict: Don't let this £50 disappointment destroy the great memory of the last of us 1, keep it's agenda addled and paultry story telling away from you, and maybe Naughty Dog, developers and journalists will realize this same formula of forcing unnatural elements into games for agenda's sake, will simply destroy a company.    … Expand

    Pienso que a pesar de la muerte de Joel , era la única manera de contarnos algo más , y por esa misma es que los infectados pasaron a segundo plano , la jugabilidad , excelente , la exploración muy bien lograda , gráficos de 10 , pero si es cierto que con un buen final hubiera llegado a ser un juego excelente pero incluso con eso,sigue siendo un buen juego.

You could blab all you want about it being a propaganda, but after all, the only ,,major“ sex scene involved straight people. Why does it have to be propaganda when they show something that should be normal? This game doesn’t have to be a ,,representation” of the LGBTQ+ community, it should be something normal that could happen in any game/movie/tv show, because these people exist too, you know....
    More about the game now - It’s very violent which makes it even a little uncomfortable at some times. It’s not only a sequel, it’s a continuation of Ellie’s and Joel’s story. They both suffer from the decisions they have made, but Ellie is extremely affected by the event from the first game - Joel taking away the only opportunity, that could safe the human race. And although Joel dies (which was extremely sad and it ripped my heart out, despite the fact that I have already seen the spoiler), when we think about it - he crossed a lot of people and he could’ve died even earlier. The fact that Ellie and Joel made some kind of peace before his death, gave Ellie a reason to be even more violent. We get to see the story from Abby’s eyes and that gave us another perspective of the cycle of violence. This game is about Ellie and Joel, yes, but it is also about the cruel world that they live in - everyone has made bad choices and no one is a hero. But they all have suffered the consequences of their violent and cruel actions, this is why the ending was so satisfying - Ellie finally decided to let go and end this cycle.    … Expand

Il gameplay non è altro che una versione evoluta di quello del capitolo precedente, molto più divertente e vario. La trama, per quanto semplice sia, è narrata in modo impressionante, attraverso cutscene di pregevolissima fattura e personaggi dotati di un’umanità tangibile e molto realistica. La narrazione offre mille spunti di riflessione e si presta ad analisi e speculazioni; inoltre, la storia di Ellie (e non solo), porta a riflettere e mettere in discussione non solo il mondo in cui vivono i personaggi, ma anche la nostra società e alcuni tra i valori che negli ultimi anni stanno scomparendo. A tutti quelli che scrivono recensioni negative, evidentemente siete talmente stupidi e superficiali da non riuscire nemmeno a capire quanto la trama sia matura e quanto il gioco si discosti dalla massa. Playing with her to fully understand her character. In the game she takes on the task of taking care of the 2 scars. Her doing this gives her another shot at forgiveness. In a game thats all about revenge, forgiveness is also the main theme. In the end ellie learns to forgive abby for what she did even if it was so fuccin hard. Abby learned to forgive when she was with the two scars, thats why when she was about to kill dina and ellie lev was there to remind abby about forgiveness. Joel was ellies reminder about forgiveness for hence the flashback ellie has when she plays the guitar back home. The game also teaches us in a way to forgive, to forgive abby for what shes done. The game challenges you with that task, to forgive even if its hard enough. This game is amazing in my opinion and if you really think the game is got bad then ig it is in your opinion. Just try to look at things through a different perspective.… Expand

A story showing blood and gore 24/7 and just having Ellie killing hundreds of people isn't depressing it's just generic, a revenge story after killing the main character we've been invested in from the previous game just for a revenge story that has no payoff isn't unique or great storytelling, a game trying to be bleak and cruel and showing the world is bad and depressing with no happy moments just to have a thematic message about revenge isn't good.

    The reason the first last of us was good was that it had positive moments to make the depressing moments, well... sadder and vise versa. It also just focused on two characters and their development, not just the thematic relevance of the character's actions. a game being bleak all the time isn't good storytelling. it's just sad for the sake of being sad and that's just dumb (and honestly, it's not even that bleak for a video game considering **** like spec ops the line and dark souls exist.)

    if every movie, game, and tv show was made just for getting emotions from people than all they would have to do is just show a young child dying from starvation or literally most things from world war 2. There is a reason fiction and reality are different and that reason is that real life is **** boring and disappointing so saying this game is like "real life" isn't a compliment it's actually an insult really. Things in fiction have to have logic behind the things that happen but in this game Sooo many contrived things happen because the dumbass who wrote this didn't care enough to put more thought into it not because it's "real"

    But honestly whoever did support this game or didn't do anything against it like boycotting it or anything else should be happy with what they've done because of them one of the most anticipated game of all time has been filled the same virus as the movies have and that's the dumb SJW mental illness and let's not be delusional now the game's industry has been going downhill for some time now but this is kinda the breaking point. The biggest franchise in the film industry like star wars has been molested by Disney and so has the same been done to the game's industry by sony and that's because we did absolutely nothing but watch as it happened.     First of all this game wasn't 9 or 10 out of 10 game for me, it's far from masterpiece.
    Positive thing is Gameplay and Visual are great, some might say it's pretty much like the first game but I still enjoy it. I do love the story that game want to tell us and I think if done right, it would elevate this game so much more than it is right now.

    But again the biggest flaws of this game for me is how they choose to present the story. If they do it right I would might fond Abby's gameplay more enjoyable but with the way they chose, it didn't. I found it hard to play as a character that were present to us as a bad guy with the hated feeling toward the character. I didn't want to play as her, I want her died I understand her story but how they told her story felt like an excuse than storytelling. If they were to build us some relationship with her before "The Golf Club Scene" it probably help this game more.

    Also with the ending. I would say I saw that coming but again, I didn't feel any build up or anything that make this ending believable. it felt like this story have no payoff and all those journey was for nothing. In the end the storytelling and ending are tow things that drag this game down a lot since it's a story driven game.

    La historia es muy floja, se preocupan mas por recordarnos que Ellie es lesbiana y explorar su sexualidad, en lugar de darnos una buena historia. El problema no es que sea lesbiana (eso ya se sabia desde el primer juego), el problema es que le dan mas importancia a ser diversos e inclusivos que a dar una historia mejor que la del primer juego.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game was highly anticipated by everyone and without a doubt it should be because of how great the first game is. However, because of that big burden and expectation it is carrying, it is also a curse for the game. Players expected so much and rightfully so we should be! However, when you play the game you will see a big different from part 1 to 2. Below is my pros and cons.
    Pros
    Voice Acting – amazing, I think this is where they hit the mark.
    Music – a good balance of music and soundtrack used. (Not the best but good for the game)
    Sound effects – I feel it used right elements to bring the game to life with its sound effects
    Graphics – this is kind of mixed for me. At one point it looks amazing with facial expression on point, but another looks dull, lightning is bad, part 1 looks more beautiful and some motion capture is stiff. At best I can honestly say its just plain good and not great, still get a positive for me.
    Cons
    Story – This is were ND blew this game, I know that they were successful in shock value. I was shocked to know that Joel died but man it was executed poorly. Look at how Aerith died in FF7, the music, the sacrifice the pay off, it is all there. But TLOU 2 just killed a main character with no pay off and no meaning behind it. I am OK with killing Joel but do it the right way like a sacrifice for the better good or something. He is out of character; everyone is out of character. I understand why a lot of people put 0/10 as score because the first game is full of story while this one just fell flat.
    Characters – Dull, unengaging, out of character. Some parts are cool, but it will not make the whole game for me.
    Gameplay – it is OK at best but the reason why I put it here is because it is the same old gameplay. Minor changes that is boring. The last “boss fight” does not feel like any boss fight. This game is not revolutionary, and we have a lot of zombie games out there, RE 2 is whole lot better than this. TLOU distinction from other games was the story but sadly this was ruined. I like the guitar playing though I find it cool.
    Bugs – Too many bugs for it to be a masterpiece, this I cannot understand why the hell it got amazing scores. Bugs like missing character models and teleporting characters… for a AAA game it’s a shame for it to have this.
    Total for me 2/10 – This game fails so bad in story telling that all the good points will be forfeited. Some might still like it specially those who has no attachment to the first game but even if you did not pay the first game you will be dumbfounded by their decision and character choices. Not a fun game, just all hype and big disappointment.
    Stay away from the game. If you want to play it, rent or buy it second hand.    … Expand

This was a joke. First of all, the idea that "revenge is bad" or "Killing people is inhumane" isn't revolutionary and if I'm being honest I think Neil has the wrong idea about humans. Sure we're capable of causing suffering but come on killing someone with their hands up playing on a PS Vita for the hell of it seems a bit much. So no, humanity isn't all going to **** and I doubt living through an apocalypse makes people more hellbent on causing suffering.
    Second, in addition to putting you through this profound conclusion that different people have different experiences, the characters are mediocre at best. Gone are the days of Joel and Ellie having a complex relationship that lifts Last of Us I to soaring heights. Nah, now it's "I'm gonna kill you" and "No I'm gonna kill you". People are gonna try to say these negative reviews aren't real or whatever. But perhaps, people really didn't like the game and don't care Ellie's a lesbian (we knew that since Left Behind).

    Anyway the experience you'll get is going to be depressing. You'll be absolutely amazed by the scenery and depth of the world. You'll have small dialogue moments when you'll pray that the characters show any semblance of common sense. And then right when the game seems like fun you'll spend 4 hours "exploring" and solving "puzzles" that are a matter of playing fetch and throwing a cable. Never in my life did I think this game would be so bad. I wish I was right because it was that much worse. And I'm sorry to myself and to everyone who waited 7 years just to spend 30 hours decapitating dumb runners.

    Tldr; Nobody cares Ellie is gay, we still liked TLOF1. This game is bad, assumes the worst out of humans. Story is there just for dramatic effect. Think Neil Druckmann reading YouTube clickbait and going that's great add it. Still Naughty Dog is the best in the business and can only hope this knocks sense back into them.    … Expand

    The Last of Us is one of my favorite games because of its narrative. 7 years waiting for a sequel and naughty dog just betrayed everyone who wanted to follow an honest outcome for joel and ellie

    The gameplay is...fair. It's basically TLOU 1 with a few minor adjustments. I guess if it's not broken, don't fix it.

    With THIS ALONE this game isn't a 0 out of 10. Have people seen a true 0/10 game? I think not. This isn't it. Stop it.

    Now, lets get to the bad. The story. I don't really know what went on here, nor do I care, but I can say the story is..EH. EHHH. I didn't care for it. I won't go into details due to spoilers but lets just say some of the characters and pacing doesn't really seem like they would have from part one. It's like they forgot how certain characters would act and feel in certain situations and were changed due to plot armor to force it to go in one way. And being a major RPG fan where most of them, it's story > all..i can say i didn't enjoy the story.

    Plus another note, there's a ..scene...that conflicts with Sony's censoring. It's stated there's nudity in this game but..why? Sony censors some thighs from a final fantasy game TWENTY YEARS AGO but can't censor this? Nah..just nah.

    Overall, I'm giving the game 8/10. I won't judge the game JUST on story, it's unfair for ALL the work that was put in, not just a delusional "i read the greatest story of all time and cried, i wrote it" bullcrap. Between the sound artists and vocals, acting, etc, the game overall is amazing. Just this story does feel really short and it's a shame. This game could have easily been a 10/10 if certain story bits were touched just right.    … Expand

Con una historia de venganza muy bien estructurada la mayoría de las personas no entienden muy bien el final pero lo cierto es que esta muy bien fundamentado ya que Elli le perdona la vida a Abby ya que al fin entendió que no serviría de nada matar a Abby pero gracias a los decesos de venganza de Elli perdió todo lo que tenía sus amigos a su propia familia y en el camino se daño así misma. El final demuestra lo que pasa en la vida real

The Last of Us though, was something different. It was something that I felt so connected with, something that hit me so deep I can’t every truly describe how much it meant. Ofcourse I was looking forward to the Last of Us 2. My most hyped game by far. What I got was something that broke my heart like the first, but in the worst way. A game can be dark, a game can be depressing. It can mimic the real world and still make something great. The Last of Us 2 took a great foundation, a game that helped in a time where I was so consumed by my own grief, and spat in my face. It spat in the face of so many others who held the solid story of the first so near and dear. TLOU2 is a graphically beautiful game that holds some of the ugliest storytelling I’ve ever seen. I’m not an angry fanboy. I’m a broken girl who was dealing with the grief of losing my father and found solace in the relationship between two other broken people. TLOU2 throws away all that development which is the very thing the first had going for it.

Rational people just do not behave this way, including the "supposedly complex" characters in this game; Naughty Dog simply drops them into the sewer to deliver forced brutality shock - again - and again. The scarcity of genuine and believable character development keeps TLoU2 floating in the sewer throughout. I’m not sure what the hell Naughty Dog was trying to do, but this game could just as easily have been called Postal 2. It failed to engage me on any level. Others are claiming that Last of Us 2 is a disservice to the established characters from the first game. I think this is too kind, The Last of Us 2 is a disservice to every character in the game - each one a mockery of humanity, and then overtly politicized which only heightens the mockery. Naughty Dog seems caught up in their own bubble of smugness, because very, very few people care if game characters are straight or gay; white, black, or blue; Human, Krogan, or Orc. But virtually every gamer does care that the characters fit the world, lore, environment, and narrative; virtually every gamer cares that the narrative is unique, engaging, and builds upon the established lore. Here, Naughty Dog simply takes a dump on the world. Yes the game looks great - but honestly, that’s expected for a AAA title. The game play is adequate - if just barely, which is expected from B level games. Given the ridiculous and insulting context of this game, I have no intention of “finishing” only to accentuate my level of disappointment. Perhaps Naughty Dogs next masterpiece will let you role-play as Eric and Dylan. This game has a single central pillar - Story - which fails badly - 2/10.… Expand

    I hated Abby all the way but I got her motivation.
    I was fond of Ellie, then feared of her, then feared for her.
    I hated Tommy for being ok to leave Seattle and then for disrupting Ellie's peace while she obviously was struggling with severe PTSD.
    And to my surprise, much like as in TLOU I was afraid that Joel would leave Ellie, in TLOUPII I was afraid that Ellie would kill Abby in the end.
    Maybe it can't work for everybody, but through the game I really got to that point when I was hugely relieved with the ending and shattered with it's cinematic language.
    Don't know if it was intended, but when I saw Ellie with two missing fingers LOTR parallels just stroke me: like Frodo Ellie carries her dark burden that changes her forever and comes back, mutilated and empty, to the home that doesn't feel her own.    … Expand
