Ellie after Joel's death dedicated her life in following Abby and trying to complete her revenge.
But in the end of the game she lost the love of her life and also her fingers, and without them she could not do the one of the stuff that Joel taught her.

However it is not as good as the first TLOU due to the poor storyline. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall, playing The Last of Us Part 2 was a disappointment. The first game was undoubtedly a masterpiece. The fantastical world it took place in, the well developed characters and the satisfying gameplay. It all came together to create such an amazing experience. The first Last of Us had tremendous replay value, and for some, may have been the first game where the story was so captivating that the player felt a connection to the characters and a deep desire for them to succeed in their quest. Joel’s eventual brutal acts at the end of the game were ethically dubious, but from the player’s perspective, were completely justified as the importance/significance of Joel and Ellie’s bond was strong in the players mind, having played the game and seen it develop themselves. The Last of Us 2 unfortunately does not capitalise on all the good that the first game earned. In short, the writing for this game is crap. It’s dull and unlike the first game, I found myself not caring about the characters. Joel should have gone out like a champ, like the brave, tough, no nonsense guy we knew he was. We should have seen him backed into a corner, fighting to his last breath, his sacrifice resulting in others being able to escape with their lives. A hero/saviour of Jackson. But instead he went out like a punk. Joel and Tommy causally entering a room with a bunch of strangers. You’d think that years of living in this harsh new world would make Joel hypersensitive to danger and unfamiliar people. But it appears that the writers were not keen on that narrative. Instead the writers of this game, rewrote Joel to make him weak and moronic. Resulting in Joel having his head caved in with a 9 iron. The writers made Joel deserve the death he got. He was stupid and naive. Nothing like the Joel the players knew. The creators of this game destroyed Joel’s character. Was it worth it? Did we get a great story as a consequence of these events? No, we didn’t. Remember in the first game when Joel gives Ellie his rifle so that she can cover him. It highlighted a significant step forward in both characters development. Joel began to trust and respect Ellie’s capabilities and Joel and Ellie’s relationship/bond really became solid. Ellie transformed into a formidable character. This was evident when she has to fend for herself when Joel got hurt. Ellie from the second game is nothing like was was in the first. She is portrayed as weak, naive and unprepared. She always seems so surprised when the enemy knock her down or jump out from a corner. Hasn’t she been through all this before? In the Last of Us 2, Ellie is pathetic. Ellie achieved NOTHING. She got no revenge, no redemption. More people that she cared about got hurt or died during her quest to find Abby. Abby is portrayed as a brute, barbaric. Being forced to play as Abby was unpleasant. Even after playing through as Abby and seeing things from her perspective, I still deeply dislike her as a character. With all the stuff she goes through with her friends and lev, was I supposed to feel sorry for her, or at least start to understand her motives? Well I didn’t. Abby sucks. Tommy got **** over. He did most of the revenge work and still ended up almost dying. When we see him close to the end of the game, he is clearly physically and mentally broken. Tommy deserved so much better. At the end of it all: Abby survives! Hooray, woo, yeah.... wait what?! **** seriously. Ellie can’t bring herself to kill Abby. What the **** is that all about. Everything that the gang went through, Ellie, Dina, Jesse, Tommy. It was all for NOTHING. If the game ended just after Joel gets killed, it would have turned out better for everyone. No one from Jackson would necessarily have died and Abby probably would have died anyway. She would have been killed by the WLF for deserting, or killed during the WLF raid on the Scar island. The entire story didn’t matter. **** I’m so disappointed. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly I thought the game was solid, the story was a bit of a mess. Not very well told with a lot padding....so much padding. Like 10 hours of padding, but that doesnt ditract from my views on or because the have is still fun to play as it's basically a carbon copy of the first.

But let's address the plot for a minute, I understand where they're going and trying to do a story about Ellie suffering from PTSD from Joel's death but it was just done poorly.

There are flashbacks within flashbacks and the overall plot is a bit of a confusing mess, seems like they tried to do a Pulp Fiction but didn't know when to stop.

So the gameplay it's good, it's basically the first game with extra and the plot after all said and done is a solid okay, I did sympathise with the main antagonist by the end of the game.
The problem is it takes a good while to get there and can get tedious waiting for the next bit of plot that has anything to do with the overall story.

Hopefully they'll do a better job with The Last Of Us Part 3

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is pretty bleak, but I think the message it wants to get across is successful. At the end of the first game Joel did something pretty bad to do something good, but this game deals with its consequences. I think they did a good job with Abby - first I hated her, then I understood her. Abby and Ellie are two sides of the same coin. Yes I kinda wish we had gotten a nicer story with more feel good moments and maybe even a happy ending, but the world they made isn’t nice and actions have consequences. What we were given is what makes sense after Joel’s drastic actions at the end of the first game. This sequel doesn’t beat the first in terms of its compelling story, but it’s solid and I liked it Expand

My review, no spoilers, no story plot points revealed.

The Last of Us Part 2 isn’t just an important story about revenge, it’s a story about the cyclical nature of revenge itself. Naughty Dog does something that most companies would be scared to do. It removes choice, and for better or for worse, you are there for a ride and you can’t change what happens and to whom, no matter if you want to or not. This is bold move in the day and age of freedom, choice and selection.

Ellie’s journey isn’t one for the faint of heart, her journey is gruesome, vile and heartbreaking. She is a one woman wrecking crew and she wants to stop at nothing to get back a piece of what was stolen from her. Traveling from the safety of their hometown in Jackson to Seattle, all the way to Santa Barbara she will face off against new and inspired threats, like the WLF (Washington Liberation Front) who use modern weapons and explosives, and the Seraphites who are a primitivist cult that use Bows and Melee weapons for the most part. These two are at war, and unfortunately you are in the middle of it as you make your way through Seattle’s downtown. Both of these factions have ideas that conflict throughout the game, and it’s shown beautifully through optional dialogue that the characters have with one another. Even the collection of some very interesting artifacts, adds detail to an already very well developed world.

It showcases the best visuals of any game to date on the PS4 alongside probably the best sound design of any game, of any generation, period. Gun shots are so ferocious, footsteps so crisp, the wind and rain so intense, that you forget this is all game. Gustavo Santaolalla returns to score again, and it hits all of the right marks. The soundtrack just builds up tension in all of the right moments, making those hairs rise and your skin crawls when you hear the clickers in the distance.

It also shows sometimes a little ingenuity goes a long way, especially with the controls and their (ND) decision to add a jump and prone button giving more layers to some of the best and most enjoyable level designs in recent memory. Nothing seems like its cut and paste, where every new area feels different and original throughout the game. It lasts for around 20 – 25 hours, depending on how much exploration you do and I recommend exploring everything. This is a game that rewards it. There are Safes that have lots of ammo/upgrades where you need to find the passcode to access it. The notes that are scattered throughout the area sometimes hint or give those passcodes and it’s a small but very rewarding minor objective to do.

This is a game that should be played, regardless if you agree with the story decisions or not because it’s something that won’t be forgotten soon. Controversy is what made The Last of Us’ ending so remarkable and this game is no different.

    9/10

Originally, I had given the game an 8/10, because of the technical masterpiece that it is, but its story lacked the same oomph that the original had. After my second playthrough I have realized that every single fight with other humans is optional. You can escape and avoid everyone throughout the game (with the exception of the infected), which also changes how you view the ending, in I would say, a more positive way. This freedom of becoming the Ellie you want her to be (either a stone cold killer or a pacifist) also changes your outlook on who she was to begin with. This freedom makes this game that extra point higher, because you can look at these options as greater than the sum of its parts. I personally look forward to what I hope is next for Naughty Dog, The Last of Us: Part 3.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After 7 years of anticipation, I admit I was abit disappointed with what Naughty Dog brought to the table with TLoU II. It’s certainly not a 3.5 given by gamers, but it’s definitely not a 10/10 masterpiece, which is really sad to say because it had all the potential for a real game of the year contender. The backdrop for TLOU was refreshing, it brought so much content to the table & the characters were so relatable because they were so.. real with their personal struggles. I felt that naughty dog could have built on what happened after the ending instead of fast forwarding 5 years, dropping us randomly into Seattle. What went right: Graphics - I’m honestly impressed with what ND managed to pull off given how old the PS4 console is. Lighting was amazing especially in the forested areas, models were crisp, detailed and just a beauty to look at. Gameplay - improving upon the mechanics of TLOU, I find the combat system much more fluid and so satisfying every time I pop the head off the infected. Crafting & upgrading your character hasn’t really changed fundamentally, you’ll still be going around scrounging for supplies. Every gun feels punchy, weighty and powerful. Even playing on hard, the difficulty is just right without you feeling too over or under powered. There’s a bit more puzzles to solve now to catch a break every now and then. Character animations are extremely life like and it’s just a joy to play and appreciate the motion capture work ND has put into. Environment - Seattle is sprawling with Wild life, places to explore and new areas to discover. There’s so many more buildings, rooms & creepy alleys to explore with the power of the PS4. The city really feels alive as you can hear the environmental sounds around you as you explore it. What went wrong: Story, story, story - sadly ND seemed to have lost the whole point of TLOU franchise. The lack of a solid story made this into some generic action adventure game. What made TLOU a lasting impression even till this date wasn’t the gameplay but the story telling. Every character was real, with their history, motivations and personality. In contrast every character, even Ellie was bland, forgettable and just plain boring to look at. There’s nothing about them, why are they doing certain things, how did they get here, or what’s their part in this game. You could remove 90% of the characters’ dialogue and it will still be exactly the same action adventure game. Because everyone is just shooting and killing first and asking questions later! See someone, “oh I don’t know maybe I’ll just kill that person first and then figure out what’s going on on my own by scrounging up notes lying around everywhere” (Except the flashbacks, that was really extremely well done)
“That” scene that everyone hated was really just there for shock value, I felt that it had no purpose and meaning because nothing links up.
Even halfway through the game I still don’t know why is everyone doing what they are doing, why is everyone just killing everyone and not asking questions? Was the whole point of playing another perspective just to make us empathise and sympathetic to their cause? It was really quite badly executed. Instead of feeling for them, that segment was excruciating, and just painful to play. And I was just dragging my feet to complete it. Seriously ND, you can’t just expect us to sympathise with anyone you make us play. If your goal was to make the single most hated character in video gaming industry, this takes the cake. Social norms - there’s really no need to be an “inclusive” game by incorporating certain sexual orientation in life just to appease everyone. It’s painful to watch, full of cringe and just feels so... forced. There’s no history between them as far as I can tell so I don’t get why ND has to put it in. You don’t need to conform to society and please SJWs just because certain group calls for it. Adding it doesn’t automatically make it acceptable. Summary
I’d wish you would have focused more on the story and developed each character properly. And for the life of me, please remove all these unnecessary gameplay about another person, we really don’t care. If you bought God of War you’d expect to play as Kratos, and not some random creep right? Same logic. Without a strong story every aspect of the game no matter how strong just falls apart and becomes just another generic action game. There’s nothing to gel these pieces together. I look forward to another game in the next few years, ND.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphics are good , but was not impressed after ff7 remake appeared , it surprised me how a AAA game could be 30 gigs only. But I’m ok with that.I was able to enjoy visually Mechanics pretty much the same old naughty dog style , now you have to upgrade everything in order to be functional on your style( silent , gunsmith, bare fist, or artifact builder) 3 new fungus zombies. Which is ok .( the same model appears every time , but i can manage)

Soundtrack - master piece 10 out of ten . Good job there.

Now the story , the first game was about zombies , but was mainly about the unconditional love that a father has towards his daughter . And how this can be so strong , that a father would sacrifice the humanity’s fate. In this particular case , Joel killed 400+ (If not more ) people in order to save Ellie , and old man who is experienced and passed through storms and adversity for years. It was a brilliant character with a strong development , which caused a bond with several players. And that’s what we loved about the first game. Seems to me like a lazy approach , you have such a charismatic character, and you want to introduce the new Eli ( which lost her style, and the writers also ditched her development) and Abby which is an OP character( kills zombies with her fists WTF). And in order to these protagonists to shine , the easiest resort is to kill Joel and the beginning of the game. Instead of developing the characters correctly, so you can empathize with them. The firefly connection is magnificent , and I even understand the righteousness of killing Joel. But you decide to tear Joel apart in a very simple and stupid way, at the beginning of the game to avoid that time for writing and development, you decide that Joel has to be killed kill by some random ( not so random ) girl on steroids and prolong the game in a repetitive way , in order to introduce all diversity quota. In order for your other characters to shine( lev, Abby , Jesse )you decide to kill the pace by adding a plot twist of the plot twist of the plot twist , you are about to arrive to a place and there’s always something that interrupts you such as a fall , soldiers , clickers etc. And it’s always the same pattern.

I don’t mind that Elli is lesbian , or Abby looks like a man , or the fact that you completely ignored tommy to avoid complexity. What I do care is about the characters development , and how they are driven. It’s not that Abby pursues for revenge( loved the love triangle ) , it is how unbelievable the character is due to bad writing. I liked the end though , Made me cry like a baby.

In books and movies it has become very typical to have a sad ending in the end, an inconclusive ending
But gamers are not ready for it, gamers are not ready for a story that questions them, that makes them think
Most of them anyway, the proof is the user score for this game
I think Naugthy Dog was too ambitious, they tried to do a biiiiig step forward and maybe they took too many risks
The way and the timing of Joel death, you having to play as the "villain" (this game shows you there are no villains in life, no "good" vs "bad"), all the "political propaganda" (which honestly i didn't find it at all in this game) and that ending ... it was too much for the casual gamer, the gamer that plays games to escape real life
I want to believe that Naughty Dog won't turn back because of these mixed reviews because I truly believe that this is the start of something very good for the gaming world
No game ever has made me feel the way this game has, no book or film for that matter
So many emotions condensed into this 25 hour (i took 21h55 on my 1st playthrough) game
You can dislike the game and especially the story, but you can't the game or the story is objectively bad
The music, the setting, the atmosphere, the gameplay and the attention to detail is all top notch
The game is not perfect and it's not 10/10, no game is
But this game deserves it only for the audacity of defying the status quo
For anyone reading this, buy the game, experience it
It's okay if you don't like it, it's not a game for everyone but it's an experience that will stay with me for a long, long time

    Masterclass in almost every way.
ND chose to be bold when they could have made full fan-service that would surely pleased more players. Instead, they decided to make us question everything and everyone, to make us do things we might not have wanted to do (not in a "the game is bad" way, you'll understand while playing).
The levels of emotions in this Part II is equal if not even superior

ND chose to be bold when they could have made full fan-service that would surely pleased more players. Instead, they decided to make us question everything and everyone, to make us do things we might not have wanted to do (not in a "the game is bad" way, you'll understand while playing).
The levels of emotions in this Part II is equal if not even superior than Part I but most of them are completely different. While Part I was about love, attachment, finding someone etc. Part II is about hatred, fear, revenge, anger... Some will like it, others won't.

The graphics are probably the best I've seen yet, it's the first time we've come so close to photo-realism, and yes, I've played RDR2 on PC 4K, GOW, Detroit... Uncharted 4 was already impressive for its time, they did it again.
Gameplay: It's clearly not a revolution. Just a good evolution from Part I. Everything is simple, fluid, fast. Effective.
The music is incredible, maybe even better overall than the first game. Gustavo Santaolalla is always masterful and moving, and Mac Quayle's action compositions serve the game perfectly.

Negative points: We can regret the absence of a duo as powerful as Joel/Ellie from the first one, a few lengths in the second part of the game, and a small passage towards the end which displeased me but it's only a really personal opinion.

I find the review-bombing on this game (and the others by the way) quite a pity. Especially when there are either no arguments, or when the person gives his opinion about the leaks and speaks as if he really played the game, like for example "Abby is trans-gender" when ABSOLUTELY NOT. And I really saw reviews talking about it as if it's a fact or as if this game is LGBT propaganda when it's not at all, and believe me I'm the first one to say it when it's the case for other games/movies. There was no forcing from the devs on that side. Unless seeing a lesbian couple shocks you that much?

To conclude, 9/10. And some people are surprised that a lot of people who loved the first one can love this one. Well let me tell you: The Last of Us is my favourite game. The Last of Us Part II is now my second favourite.

This is absolutely the darkest game I've ever played, which I love.
I appreciate that Naughty Dog created something like this, they are very brave.
I love the part how they handle your emotions and let you become the character, and I am seeing that this is the future of the industry.

After playing it for at least 10 hours, it seems repetitive and a bit boring, but what I don't understand is why a great game is spoiled just by putting on the badge that we are inclusive, a shame. All for a forced inclusion.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So the last of us 2 came out on the 19th and it is polarising. The game is both a visual masterpiece and a 14 year olds fan fiction of the first game with a massive budget .
Starting with a few things I love
    1. Gameplay is ‘’if its not broken don’t fix it’’ as you Charlie of the channel; Penguinz (subscribe to him) said, I completely agree with that. That is pretty much what it is. Its The last of us, in terms of gameplay and its a good game mechanically speaking.
    2. Acting is amazing and the character development in like 5 of the characters is really good and believable (until something ridiculous breaks the immersion )
    3. Crafting is pretty good, not much different to the first, not much innovation, mostly aesthetics but its still good
    4. The flashbacks are the games highlights, such as Joel and Ellies flashback parts, are the absolute peak of the game. Its like a sample of what the game could have lived up to.
    5. Level design is fantastic. Lots of places to climb, escape to, and figure out what to do. The game has a great flow in combat
    6. The art in this game is slept on. It is beautiful, stunning. If you check out the concept art it is really beautiful, so im giving massive props to the artists team, phenomenal work there. It helps an otherwise drab game to feel a little nicer when its allowed to shine
    7. The accessibility options are a really innovative idea, and is filled with specific options that make the game easier for anyone from me who is pretty bad at games despite playing them all the time since I was a kid to Stevie Wonder. Options like High contrast colouring and decoulraing of the environment make the game playable for people with vision disabilities and such, color blindness, that kind of thing. I think this is a great idea and will become more and more common in games. Theres a lot of options that are pretty silly, like prone mode makes you invisible except when enemies go right up to you for some time like 5 seconds. Its not a bad option, its just really funny and I don’t know who it is catering to. Ive never had a game with built in Action Replay before but it can be used for accessibility and also for **** and giggles.c
    Some bad things
. The writing is objectively piss poor, its like someone played the first game and then took a lot of coke, for the entire duration of the project (but maybe druckmann was just high on life, and toxic business ethics) . I went into the game optimistic, giving it a chance. As it went on I became really really annoyed by the front seat the incredibly bad story pieces take up in the game. On the back of the cover, it doesn’t say, realistic conversation simulation and some stealth gameplay mixed in. It advertised itself as a game that is like the
First game. Its an interactive Netflix movie. And a really bad one. Netflix would not green light this. Spoilers here on out> if you liked the first game, you will feel very sad and empty playing this game . You will have paid 70 euro or bucks for a game that actively wants you to feel bad constantly. There is no breathing, the game constantly cuts nice or good moments to put you back into nihilism and preachy generic revenge storylines. It feels like the game thinks you are an absolute idiot. It is a very predictable story, and the game revolves around it. The game advertised as a Ellie and Joel revenge story (it implied Joel with be there for a good portion of the game), but its all about trying to make you like Abby and her friends. Maybe she remorrselessly (she never shows any remorse at all) tortures a man, wanting to keep it going longer, having to finish him faster by her friends. She sees Ellie screaming and begging as Joel iOS in a situation the real Joel from the first game would never risk. She does not show a single expression of feeling moral ambiguity, she does not get emotional , she’s calculated. Throughout, whether its her friends dying or someone she’s getting, she immediately continues on and never mentions them again. No screen time is given to those things because the characters don’t even matter. Its all to justify her actions at the start. It was done so badly , it is appalling. Little of the game is you playing as Ellie doing all cool stuff. If it is its a walking simulator most of the time. Other times its a visually stunning sub par stealth game with fantastic voice acting performances and god awful writing .

    2. This game is very boring for most the time you play it, snail pacing to fill up the game. You’ll find yourself wishing it would end and when it doesn’t you’re like they’re still beating this dead horse? I kept playing hoping it would stop making you just walk and talk and do really dumb puzzles constantly but most 70 Europe I spent on the game was for a conversation simulator.
    3. The game makes you play as a character, anyone who likes the last of us or you know good writing, will hate. The game recons everythi

Cause playing as those characters, in those heartbreaking moments, it does have an impact on your perception. Even though there’s certain characters you would rather not play as. But makes you not necessarily empathize with that character but the situation she in and the people around.I really do like playing this game I know people didn’t like the fact that you play as one specific character but it those help see other characters around her and Ellie perception .You see two side of the coin both which is neither good or bad. It a interesting concept. And it’s a game that requires you really to look further into the point of the ending to eventually understand. Some people like games with clear answers, ending, And it’s alright if you do but you might not think it had great ending in that point. Also they wouldn’t give the effort to develop a character if they didn’t had the intention of re-using her or Ellie for future projects. But I think it’s genius ending for a dlc or potentially new game after this game. Also i should mention the mechanic of this game. It’s was so cool and amazing you get to play the guitar, growl on the floor and simply cause it was easy to manage for a ps4 imagine in ps5.The art concept is exceptional, beautiful. There are very amazing views and at one part you get to experience fear from failing hahaha.

(my opinion but with some spoilers Part 2)
However i would put Abby story first then lead up to Joel death. Many seem to over look the ending but it actually very well written. Because it come back to seeing to parallel between characters. A revenge story that ends up losing themselves on the way. It shows that not everyone manage to feel relief and at peace once looking for revenge. It shows that their consequences on making the “wrong choice” henceforth Dina left. Plus on the first sneak peak at the game Ellie was sing a song. In my opinion, in those lyrics, she mentions that “ I can’t walk on the path of the right because I’m wrong” which means how she can feel satisfied ir live on with her life if she knew what she will do isn’t gonna make her be better Knowing her killing Abby wasn’t gonna removed the pain and trauma. And of course it not the same story as the first game because it a different protagonist, with different values, interests and personality. Which make total sense why she did kill Abby. Joel would kill her with no hesitation. Ellie has and always had different opinions, value and morals as Joel.

    Positives:
-one of the most beautiful games on ps4
    -gorgeous environments and animations
    -the gore is great
-fights are super fun and exhilarating -beautiful scenes and character moments throughout the game
-very emotional game, some moments made me feel the same way i felt 1st watching the red wedding. I can say that only got and this game have ever affected me so much.

    Negatives :
-the 1st game had a lot of sad moments and aspects however the beauty of joel and ellie's relationship made it all seem worth it. Last of us 2 is in need of some of these moments beacuse otherwise the game is just too sad and kinda broke me.
-while some story moments aren't what i would've envisioned or liked to see for this game I can still respect them and make sense of them. Even if I dont like them doesn't make them wrong.

Those that still hated abby at the end of the game really weren't paying attention. No one can say they didnt feel conflicted when playing as joel in the hospital during the 1st game. Playing as abby felt the same way. The entire time playing as her somehow made me somewhat care for all of the characters that were part of joel's death at the start of the game. By the end of it, i didnt want ellie to leave diana for revenge.

Overall this game took over my life for a couple of days where i could only think about playing it. I dont know how such a game could ever be a 0/10 for anyone even with its faults

Until the credits rolled the game threw so many curveballs at me and went from the highest highs to the lowest lows (literally and figuratively). I think after seeing it through the two core though that are stuck we me are 01 the game is masterclass of managing your emotions and revealing information to you that retrospectively changes the meaning of the entire narrative. 02 this feels very much like Naughty Dog moved on from making game movies and instead gave us an entire television season of the Last of Us. There is just so much going on.

I would have given this a 10/10 (good graphics, audio blablabla), but the fact that after half of the game the narrative finally clicks and goes into full swing is an amazing achievement when looking at the whole picture, but a really tough time to get through when there are just so many other games that can grab your attention away from this.

If you suffer from mental illness, this game may make your depression worse at parts, especially if you played through the first game. The staff at naughty dog really outdid themselves. With a revised combat system, making you feel both more confident and much more tense going into confrontations. The infected pose more of a threat and do not feel like you are fighting blind 100 year old dogs there is an actual feel of anxiety that you get from gauging the enemies and your own character. With breathtaking scenery and infinite possibilities for every confrontation, you will always be on your toes. Expand

Gracias Naughty Dog

I am not going to say that this game is a masterpiece, but it is almost, in technical terms this game is the maximum of the generation, the same happens with the sound effects, however in my opinion, if we analyze the first and the second, taking considering their respective times I believe that the first is better, as a fan I say that the innovation made by both in terms of graphics and history were similar, but in relation to history I believe that the first one did their homework better, although the performance of both is incredible, I will not give examples because of spoiler, but I just say that a certain character is great and well developed, however the way they want to seek our
sympathy for her was in my view ineffective and I didn't particularly like the conclusion, I believe that a certain part of it was "unnecessary", aside from these little mistakes, it's a great game if you fell in love with gameplay, play it, if you liked the story from the first, there is a risk that you will have a little stomach ache, but nothing that negates the quality of the work.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really enjoyed the first last of us game and was completely let down by this sequel and could barely finish it. The graphics are fine, and the game play is ok (nothing was wildly different from the first one), but the story just really drags this game down and makes it completely not fun to play. Characters go against established traits (Joel giving his real name to strangers... LMAO) and it took a lot to just finish it. (also with no pay off at the end).

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting the game to be all sunshine and rainbows, but to turn this into a simple revenge plot with no revenge payoff in the end just really doesn't sit well with me. Ellie was so angry and revenge-driven, the fact she didn't kill Abby in the end is just f'ing ridiculous. She has no problem killing EVERYONE else without batting an eye, but she stops at the main person who killed the closest person to her... OK game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Joel was treated like a random NPC the way he got killed and then spat on, was very disrespectful after all that had happened in the first game. Felt like the manner in which he got killed and spat on was purposely a slap in the face for us, as if to say "forget this garbage and let's focus on a political agenda now". Especially because it was done so early in the game too. Worst part is, it was advertised in trailers as if joel would have some good focus in this sequal, and it's obvious they did that incase people found out joel gets treated like **** and then not buy the game. Not against main characters dying either but it's the way in which they die that needs to be carefully crafted. Red dead series is a very good example. Joel's death was lazy writing to focus on an agenda. Don't think I need to say anymore. Not against any form of group or community but these days it feels like developers of games and movies alike are forcefully making these decisions when it simply doesn't fit into the narrative it just feels out of place. They're are so many ways to make everyone feel involved without sacrificing the story. Mass effect series, dragon age and even assassins creed odyssey are all prime examples. The options are there for the player to choose but it does not sacrifice story or feel forced. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Right.....Well naughtydog devs have done a bad job playing as the person that kills Joel is an awful idea I understand playing Abby up until they get to the cabin where Joel dies but after that are we supposed to feel sorry for Abby and what's shes gone through if so I don't think many people will if even any, I heavily disliked the ending they could have done so much better Yes having them fight at the end is good but it should have been very different For instance Instead of showing Joel beaten and dead they should have showed him playing the guitar and that is what should have made Ellie fight and every so often a quick little flash of Joel beaten and dead would have been much better it would have driven Ellie into fighting harder and eventually killing Abby and letting Ellie finally be at rest. Then it should have shown Ellie going back to Jackson and telling Tommy what she has done and them reminiscing there times with Joel. I also don't care for the fact they make Ellie a lesbian it makes no difference to me I couldn't care less about it but I don't think they should have highlighted it they way they did to get on the good side of the media Wich clearly didn't work and it's totally out of character Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don’t get the hate with this game. Sure Joel, the most beloved character in the original Last of Us, gets killed savagely in the first two hours, but that gives Ellie the motive to get revenge for his killers. Without this brutal death scene, there wouldn’t be a Last of Us Part II.

Also, playing as Abby gives us the opportunity to play as both opposing forces to see their struggles and losses, see that Joel’s death had meaning, and potentially learn enough about the character to play her in a part 3.

The graphics, gameplay, and story is very well crafted and I can’t wait to play it again. I really hope there’s a part 3 so we can see another master work done by Naughty Dog.

Геймплей - отлично работающая схема первого Last of Us стала ещё лучше.

This game will make you angry. Why wouldn't it? Playing the role of the one person who you hate the most is utterly infuriating.

I don't forgive Abby for what she's done, but I can understand it. I can understand and sympathize with every character in this game. No one is perfect, including us. I believe that the people rating this poorly are not (yet) willing to see how it's telling a story of loss and despair, something that will make you look at yourself and see how an eye for an eye blinds the world. It's a sickening thing to see your greatest adversary as something more than what you want them to be. It's sickening to see them smile, laugh, and crack jokes. You don't want them to pet dogs, you don't want them to have friends and goals, you don't even want them to pet dogs. Along with everyone, I absolutely hated Abby and playing with her. However, after meeting Lev and Yara, I had a change of heart- as did Abby. There's no way to be alright with the entire situation. I didn't like her but I respected her actions with everything that's happened. Mel already said it; "You were always an **** (to Abby)." It's only through the journey with Lev and Yara that she redeemed herself in my eyes.

Everyone is just living their own life. I hope you, dear reader, can see it this way too. If TLOU was reversed with Ellie in Abby's shoes, I believe everyone would be okay with her murdering the **** out of whoever killed Joel in the first game. Everyone wants revenge in this game, and it's proven to be futile.

Ellie's struggle with Joel's death deals with loss and forgiveness. Forgiving Joel isn't hard to do after the events of Part I. Forgiving herself for not being able to reconcile with Joel is another layer on top of her guilt... what fuels her in a quest of vengeance. It ultimately consumed everything.

I won't give it a 10 because of how stressing the story was; it's going to be hard to replay this, not gonna lie.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
