    I was very anticipated to this game since day 1 teaser trailer and was in love with the first part and after all this time this is what we get,, like I ignored the spoilers because I thought they're fake but it's just unbelievable the game is good it has Alot of visuals and graphics and Alot of stuff that is just amazing maybe stealth killing is a bit repetitive but it's fun but the storyI was very anticipated to this game since day 1 teaser trailer and was in love with the first part and after all this time this is what we get,, like I ignored the spoilers because I thought they're fake but it's just unbelievable the game is good it has Alot of visuals and graphics and Alot of stuff that is just amazing maybe stealth killing is a bit repetitive but it's fun but the story is just awful just very awful how they treat the main characters and how awful the ending is to tease a third part just bad very bad writing and the game is just shoving down LGBT and politics down your throat with the bad writing and the kill of of a amazing character and parts that have Been cut from the game is bad like maybe new people to the game will love it but for players like me who loved the first game this is just a no no… Expand

    Nothing about the game was fun after Joel’s death, especially playing as Abby for the majority of this game was probably the worst thing they could have done . I ask hate the fact that Ellie just lets her go and we can’t even do anything to get revenge on her

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Don’t trust the paid for critics. As usual it’s the real people playing the games that give the honest opinions. If you loved the original characters you will be seriously disappointed with this sequel. So called creative director Neil Druckmann has trolled loyal fans by delivering the complete opposite of what they wanted. Joel and Ellie might as well not be in this game. If you really cared about those characters (like I did) then give this a hard pass. The level of narcissism shown by Druckmann is unfathomable. I cannot imagine how he was allowed to derail what could have become a billion dollar franchise. This game will be bought by many loyal fans and like me they will feel betrayed by the false advertising and the blatant lies that tricked them into parting with their money. Sure the game has pretty graphics and smooth game play but beyond that it is soulless. It desperately attempts to be clever by forcing you to commit acts of atrocity and then preaches to you about how awful this is... it’s moronic, patronising and simply fails on every level. The female writer that delivered the brilliant original had no hand in this utter garbage and it shows. I will never buy anything remotely connected to Neil Druckmann ever again. I sincerely hope that his career is over. Don’t waste your time or money, Ghost of Tsushima is coming out soon and then CyberPunk is following later on this year. My advice is to save your money for what are much more likely to be quality entertaining titles. Or if you really need an apocalypse fix and haven’t yet played Days Gone, it’s definitely worth a look, it’s the entertaining sequel that this game should of been.… Expand

    This make all the players who play 1 before, who know/like/understand the character of 1, like a f* idiot. I totally have no idea what the screenwriter is thinking.     Si bien por muchos años fue esperada la entrega, parece que no fue de total agrado para quienes ven morir a uno de los personajes de la manera más "más estúpida" posible, que según merecía una mejor muerte, igualmente, no es motivo para que cuando sucede eso digan "–¡Qué porquería de juego!". Por cierto, la mayoría de jugadores pone la excusa de "inclusión forzada" también como motivo de que fue una burla, pues bien, se respeta el hecho de que no todos apoyen el movimiento LGBT, pero se nota a leguas su intolerancia haciendo comentarios que ya ofenden, y eso es lo molesto.

    I love the first part and the only thing I like about the second part is that it makes me love the first part even more.

    It's all about hope and it's all about finding something to fight for.
    I'm devastated after playing this you just destroyed my favorite video game of all time. And for those who say that it's the right thing or that it's his perspective understand this that majority of the people don't want this so yes these ratings are well deserved.    … Expand

The direction of this game is extremely ambitious and just goes to show how impactful and innovative video games continue to be from a storytelling perspective. Nothing groundbreaking but it worked and was smooth for the most part. As expected, Naughty Dog have excelled in the visual and performance capture department offering a diverse world of highly detailed locations with a unique cast who have the same amount of complexity and character development you might find in the Red Dead Redemption series. Was overall an immersive and emotional gameplay experience that I highly recommend to anyone. 9 out of 10… Expand

    i liked the game for its graphics and motion design but it's still not revolution if i will compare it with the previous part.The plot is extremely weak.I guess it was ruined by liberal ideas at some point.It is more like a hidden propahanda at gameplay part..This is an obvious opression of some froup of people in a game.Unfortunatelly bad result for naughty dog.

    Graphics are nice but I can only recommend this game if you really hated the characters in the first game. I can't believe Naughty Dog managed to screw up one of the greatest Playstation exclusives, Sony must be furious.

    If you loved the first game, just forget this game was ever released.

But then Butcher one of these charaters and force us to play as the killer for half of the game. At the end Ellie doesn't get her revenge and she loses everything. While Abby get's her revenge and goes to the fireflies happyly ever after. So your message of revenge is not the anwser is not true.

    Abby takes her revenge and wins. She survives, gets a happy ending.
    While Ellie, after a long journey of pain and loss, doesn't kill Abby. And she gets the bad ending where she is, what she always feared, alone.

    Lots of the characters make stupid choices that they never would make if we look at TLOU part 1. The only reason they make these stupid choices is so that the plot can happen.

    Well. I would say combat of this game is good, really good but nothing more. Story is awful while it is a story-based game, not Call of Duty. Characters are bad and soulless. Puzzles were bad in first game(if we can call them puzzles), it is still same. Saving bucks is the best option.

    They did improve on almost all areas comparing to LoU Part I exept most important ones being storytelling, character/-deveploment and pacing of the game...so my score comes for, graphics, gamedesing/gameplay,sounds,music and flashbackscenes with Joel and Ellie.

    Amazing game! Without doubt the most atmospheric game ever. At times feels like a return to survival horror glory days of tense dark indoor environments oozing with atmosphere. Graphics are unbelievable. Story may not be as strong as the first game but unpredictable and dark like a post apocalyptic game should be! The care taken on each environment is 2nd to none. The only shame is thatAmazing game! Without doubt the most atmospheric game ever. At times feels like a return to survival horror glory days of tense dark indoor environments oozing with atmosphere. Graphics are unbelievable. Story may not be as strong as the first game but unpredictable and dark like a post apocalyptic game should be! The care taken on each environment is 2nd to none. The only shame is that someone spent so long on designing a building you may only see for 2 mins or miss out all together as it's more open than the first game with multiple paths to the same linear goal. Eg there are 2 or 3 Street options to reach a TV tower in the game.… Expand

The irony here is that the game developer is pandering to a woke mob that will never play the game and pay for it, but completely rejects its loyal fanbase.

    As for the game engine, it is amazing and breath taking. Everything is extremely detailed    It is amazing how can one of the most amazing games ever can become a flat, unbelievable, hollow experience, riddled with identity politics. The irony here is that the game developer is pandering to a woke mob that will never play the game and pay for it, but completely rejects its loyal fanbase.

    As for the game engine, it is amazing and breath taking. Everything is extremely detailed and immersive. The mechanics and physics integration is spot on. The game story on the other hand is flat, hollow and unbelievable. Characters decision are poor and suffer from a tunnel vision syndrome.
    Everything feels artificial and sanitized. You can feel it as a metallic taste in your mouth for an hour to come.

    The only thing I felt when playing the game was red hot anger, because they ruined the master piece that the original one was.    … Expand

    A história do jogo é muito bem construida, os personagens é bem inesquecíveis ,os gráficos muito bons ,a jogabilidade muito melhor que o do primeiro jogo e tudo isso justifica minha nota (eu já zerei o jogo , coisa que a maioria deveria fazer antes de comentar alguma coisa)

    I think the people who create games like these have chosen the wrong medium. They want to be directors and therefore fail to deliver what I call a true Game. If I want to watch a great drama I start Netflix and not my console...

    The point why these games get insanely high critic scores is that the people who do nothing else but play video games each day, all year round as a job become more and more like art critics who are bored by the art. The yearn for something freaky ,fancy, unexpected and games like last of us are a welcoming change in their routine. But like art critics who go nuts about a painting that shows little less then black stripes on white canvas they lost their connection to the casual guy next door and what he likes.
    The last of us part II is more a video then a game and instead of being fun to play it needs to shock you to get your attention, in my opinion, a cheap tactic.
    Test it for an hour before you buy this, probably it will help you to save money that you can spent on a real video GAME.    … Expand

    Forced narrative and awful divisive content and the story was terrible - half of the game was playing with some character you absolutely detest.

    This piece of software was designed to cause outrage and massive dislike. This is unfair to all those who bought this thinking they were getting a Joel and Ellie sequal (just like the trailers alluded to).

    The game play began to get very repetitive and didn't need to be 20 hours long. Naughty Dog have obviously dropped the ball on this one. Such a shame a this was almost guaranteed to print money.

    I hope games developers realise that trying to be relevant and SJW isn't needed in games that are supposed to be entertaining. Keep the politics out of my entertainment please.    … Expand

    I really loved this game. I waited for over seven years in order to play the sequel to the original one and it was very well worth it.     The graphics are great, borderline next-gen. The sound design is great and scary at times. The game-play is amazing and a fantastic evolution of the first game's, with many varied kinds of weapons, crafting materials and ways to approach both exploration and combat. Puzzles are ingenious and actually require thinking to solve, unlike the first game. The secrets and collectibles are very well hidden and are very rewarding to find and actually useful to your journey. The lore, the side stories and the people who live in this world are intriguing, deep and relatable. The animations are outstanding and very realistic. The artificial intelligence of the enemies and allies is impressive. The game is full of beautiful, realistic-looking landscapes, detailed models, but also very explicit gore and violent combat which I liked. The story is unique, mostly unpredictable, tense and very well told, the writers know really well how to curve your expectations and how to play with your emotions. It took me 39 hours to finish the game by playing slowly and carefully exploring every area I could, but even then I didn't find all the collectibles on my first play-through. I imagine you could finish it in 20 hours or so by only playing through the main objectives.

    The conservative snowflakes who got triggered that some characters are gay or whatever are blowing things way out of proportion. Those aspects of the characters aren't relevant to the overall plot, aren't their only defining characteristics, and the game doesn't even delve deep into those topics or into politics at all for that matter, not to mention that some of those aspects were already touched upon in the previous title's Left Behind expansion. Even if the game did push a political agenda (which it doesn't), that wouldn't necessarily, in my opinion, be a reason to negatively review the game. Let's be adults and learn to appreciate works of art for what they are, even if we disagree with the message. Most of the negative reviews I'm seeing here are from those kinds of people and from people who didn't even play the game and are just spreading hate for no logical reason.

    Some of the legitimate negative reviews I’ve read say that they didn't like the story, or the ending, or the tone of the plot, or that the actions of the characters didn't fit their established personalities, or even that they didn't like the events that happened to the characters in the game. I disagree with them but I somewhat understand where they are coming from.

    This is not an optimistic, lighthearted, cliche, money-grabbing, fan-serving sequel or a happy game at all, this is a gritty, deep, mature game with a sad, tragic, post-apocalyptic story which might not be everybody's cup of tea, I get it; but that doesn't mean that the game itself is bad or that the story is poorly written. I would even venture to assume that many of the people who didn't empathize with the motivations of the characters have yet to experience any major loss in their lives or are just not the kind of people who are prone to violence or trauma, or perhaps they simply weren't open enough to something other than what they internally expected the game to be.

    I didn't like that improved melee weapons don't work exactly as they did in the original game, where the added parts were spent first and had a separate durability than that of the main melee weapon. I liked the soundtrack a lot, especially the tracks that play during combat and tense sections but I feel like it was missing a more memorable and catchy main theme like the one the first game had. I am beyond disappointed that you don't get to visit the Space Needle, you see it at a distance and the characters even acknowledge it but you never get to go there. I've never been to Seattle but if you're going to set a game in there I feel like it is a huge missed opportunity not to include the most iconic landscape of the city in it. I am also a little disappointed that we didn't get to know more of the past of one of the main characters, perhaps that could be explored in a standalone expansion like the first game did with Left Behind. An improved multiplayer mode like on the first one would have been nice but it’s not a deal-breaker. I would also have done things differently at the very end of the game had I written the story or if I were the character but, as it is, it's still a powerful, strong closing to this amazing journey.

The gameplay is boring and slow at it's best, this game's gameplay houses no enjoyment. This game has nothing to offer outside pretty looks and is a disgrace to the series.

The first one is the way that they killed Joel, and the second is the way that they force us to play as Abby. Firstly, I want to talk about the first problem. I think a main character that is beloved from every player shouldn't be killed like that. The progression in his character from first game has just thrown into the garbage. I would accept that death scene if he was more cautious as before the scene could be written differently. But if you still wanna go with this, at least you should show us how his character has changed over the years. Like more flashbacks that shows Joel is changing, becoming less cautious and vulnerable because of his relationship with Ellie.
    I think the second problem is bigger. After nearly 10 hours of gameplay, the only feeling that I have was to finding and killing Abby. I think most players felt that. However, after 10 hours of game play, writers decided us to play as Abby! For nearly 8 hours. That's just unacceptable. If you want us to love this new character, which killed our beloved Joel and we spend 10 hours hating her, and bond with her this is not the way. I think if the chronological order of the story has changed this problem would be overcome. Like before Abby kills Joel we could have hear her story, and "maybe" sympathize with her. Or at least, in my personal opinion at the scene where Ellie and Abby standoffs at the theatre, we should definitely play as Ellie. I HATE THAT PART. I killed Abby thousand of times in that part because I have no sympathy or love for her. She is just a new character that killed my favorite character. When we pin Ellie down to the ground and forced to hit her, I quit the game and try to keep calm.
    However, I would say that they made some parts of the story well. The flashbacks were amazing. We see the bonding between Ellie and Joel. The birthday flashback scene made me cry. Actually lot of scenes apart from Abby made me cry. I have waited 7 years to hear about what will happen to Ellie and Joel. I was expecting Joel to die but, what will happen to Ellie afterward was a thing I didn't know.
    I think if we neglect Abby's part from the story and look it on the side of just Ellie the story is sublime. The emotions that the story put me through was hard. And the ending scene, oh the ending scene got me so hard. I'm crying for two days now. The scene where Ellie tries to play guitar after her fingers are chopped is... Hard.
    Anyway, as you can read in this review I'm mad at the game but I cannot be angry and hate it. I've waited 7 years for this and the story of Ellie just hit me.

    Ps: They will probably continue with the story of Abby and Lev in the 3rd game. I think the Abby parts from the game should come as an DLC maybe? I don't know. Thanks for reading. And I hope someone feels the way I do.    … Expand

    About 14 hours in and I'm loving it. As a hardcore PC gamer, it's really disappointing there's no one making these sorts of games to this quality on that platform.

    Those who are complaining just understand non-linear events I suppose. They must hate Tarantino films.

Gameplay, graphics and etc. are pretty good, not on the top level, but good. And the main problem isn't Neil's desire to please leftists. The main problem is the story, the plot, it's so bad, so disappointing, but first of all - it's not even close to the First part. Second half of the game... It was very-very difficult to make fans feel something good to Abby, killer of Joel! And all this stuff with Dogs and Scars, with these children. Maybe this is not bad, but this is not The Last of Us, this is not Our Story, and of course this is not interesting to us, fans. I didn't feel any emotion during playing as Abby. And why we playing as Abby and trying to kill Ellie, just why??? It's awful... Next, the ending. It can't compare with the ending of the First part. Just compare your emotions... The First part is better in any aspect, the MAIN MENU, the SOUNDTRACK, the STORY, the ENDING!     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After finishing the game over the weekend, I can honestly say that I enjoyed the game quite a lot. There have been a lot of reviews bombing the game, but I would like to share why I think this game is a good one at least, if not a totally worthy sequel. I just want to warn that there will be a lot of spoilers.

    First: the gameplay. I liked it, it was familiar, easy to settle into. It got tedious after about say 16 hours but with the introduction of Stalkers a bit before then you are kept on high alert. I especially liked the additional boss fight with the monstrosity you encounter later in Seattle.
    The crafting was the same, but you have to level up Ellie and Abby's skills in a follow-up order, which was a bit annoying, since I couldn't immediately get the skill I wanted or would find useful at that moment in the game. I also loved that you could customize most settings, like companion effectiveness, enemy alertness level and even button functions on the controller.

    The character perspective switch. Through the game you play as Ellie in the first half, and go through the same timeline again, but this time as Abby. I wasn't the biggest fan of the switching, since we we're playing as Joel's killer and eventually turing us against Ellie, but I understand why it was important for us to see Abby's side of the story, get to know her, find her motivations, see that she's actually a person that lost so much and just couldn't let go. It kept her from being just another villain set on uprooting what we had established. It also brought regret on finding out you were responsible for killing her dad and eventually her friends, they get you to bond with those characters, but didn't shy from the fact that, yeah, they're already dead because of you.
    I wasn't the biggest fan, but I even started to like Abby near the end of Day 2.

    The pacing. A little drawn out, took too long to get to the point, but ultimately a good time. The flashbacks to Ellie's time with Joel were the best parts of the game. Abby's flashbacks too, great parts in understanding her character. 10/10.

    The "agenda". Ellie's gay and her girlfriend accompanies her through the first half of the game. Beginning features homophobic comment. There is a trans boy later on that Abby helps out when the crazy cult wants to kill him. The story would be exactly the same if Dina was a guy (except maybe for the pregnant part but that can be changed) and Lev was a girl that broke the rules of the cult, it has 0 influence on your life or the story. I really enjoyd these aspects. It was nice to have more diverse set of characters, you don't notice how bland stories are without diversity until you get a story with a lot of it. 10/10.

    Now: the story. I can honestly say that this is the main reson why it didn't get 10/10 from me. As a standalone game, it is beautiful in every way, but as a sequel to a dearly beloved first game, it klings too much on shock value. I liked that the first game felt organic and had more highs than lows. If I could associate it with a colour, The Last Of Us would be deep forest green. Part II would be the colour of rust. It got old and started to collapse under its own weight. The game would've benefited from it so much if they decided to end it in the theatre in Seattle. To kill Abby aswell. I understood Joel's death, Ellie losing her fingers and the abundance of other deaths and tragedies throughout, but letting Abby go made the whole game's story moot point.
    The whole part in Santa Barbara was useless to me and felt like they were milking that damm revenge cow till it ran dry.

    Throughout the game we see many similarities between Abby and Ellie, they're pretty much two sides of the same coin. Ellie is no better than Abby and the game should've gave Ellie the horrid realisation of this. Instead they have tried to make Ellie the better person, which she is not and never will be.

    I actually liked Abby's story more than Ellie's, Ellie felt flat and narrow minded. The part where she showed up at the theatre after killing Mel and Owen, that was the first time I felt like Ellie was an actual person in the story, not just an object that progressed the game. I would actually contribute 3 out of the 7 score I gave to Abby's storyline.

    I also noticed people said Joel and Tommy were reckless and out of character about telling the group where they lived and trusting them (eventually leading to Joel's death), but lets face it, it's been four years in Jackson, they got soft and trusting and slipped, especially since the group didn't show signs of being a threat in the beginning. Joel was also overpowered, approaching or over 50 and vulnerable.

    In conclusion: I had a great time. Not the best game of the year, but the best one I've played this year so far. You can see that Naughty Dog put a lot of heart and effort into this game, sometimes it just missed the mark a bit, but still on the board at least.    … Expand

    I can’t believe how terrible this game is, don’t buy it! The story is very very terrible, the developer put too much bias on the story. Neil Druckmann says on hıs video on ND youtube channel he was cryıng ın the end of hıs playtrough now ı can see why

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don't understand all this hate. The game is amazing! The graphics are perfect and everything that i loved from the first game is here. I miss Joel too but i was sure he was going to die... Sure i would change some things from the story like giving Joel more time with Ellie. But still some bad choices in writing doesn't make a game that bad. There are far worst games that got better user reviews than this. Wake up!… Expand

    Story: 1/10 if you played the game you feel like hey this is cool. After 2 hrs of the game 1st big dead happened and you are not surprised. Don't take me wrong but he got what he deserves. As you progress through the game characters starting to do totally stupid decisions. Lots of totally stupid stuff in the screenplay.
    CONCLUSION: if is your game based on the story every other aspect is minor. if graphic gameplay... will be 5/10 no one will be sad, but the story must be totally awesome. And this is why I giving it 4/10.
    If someone wrote this little bit different and without prominent political agenda, this game could be 9/10.

Likeable central cast of well developed characters. Cons: Larger environments can stall the pacing of the story. Narrative disrupts the pacing through time jumps, flashbacks and changing perspectives. Melee combat feels clunky at times.Pros: Great looking environments. Gameplay is smooth, stealth mechanics work well for the most part. Great music and voice acting. Compelling story. Likeable central cast of well developed characters. Cons: Larger environments can stall the pacing of the story. Narrative disrupts the pacing through time jumps, flashbacks and changing perspectives. Melee combat feels clunky at times. Sometimes you can be blocked off from exploring an area too soon by triggering a set piece too early.     Really good game, it shows how cruel the world can be, and for the people that says it’s bad cuz Ellie is lesbian, you’re all clowns, cuz it’s a fact from the dlc of the first game, it’s not for social inclussion

    Give this game a 6. Story is ass, everything else is alright. Graphics are superb! Neil really thinks he's some philosophical or godlike director. Kojima worked his ass off to get where he is at now. You will never be a Kojima or a Cory Barlog. Also has the Most pointless death to a main character in history of video games.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
