First game was a masterpiece story that evolved with characters we came to love throughout game, feeling genuine emotions when Ellie was in danger As a fatherly figure trying to protect her it gave us beautiful experience.     Classic example of a game based on movie and character design and great graphics over gameplay. Its designed more as movie than a game. If this had solid , fundamental gameplay mechanics, then if the story is bad, the game can still be plausible. Stories should be to enhance gameplay..not take over it. Your fundamentals are flawed. If you Make movie games and pamper to a causal audience, your going to go down the walking simulator telltale route. Start making proper games again or go to the film industry.     If you wonder if the game really is that bad to be deserving a 0/10 (if you can even call it that, really tries to be more of a movie / walking simulator / interactive storytelling experience) - yeah, it is. The story is abysmal and illogical holy schmokes. Gameplay has been simplified compared to part 1, and there is less action of that simplified gameplay, too.

    I was initially hating on the negative reviewers and planned to redeem this game with the expectation of a stellar 5/5 review. Some critic reviews talked about how this is not supposed to be fun, well it’s a game it should at least be interesting, which it is not. It is neither fun or interesting. It is the first game re-skinned and thoroughly deserves a score of ZERO. This game is just a really long bad movie that doesn’t seem to end. You keep watching because you paid and made it this far, hoping something great happens, but it never does. Reminds me of Seinfeld, the game about nothing. Only difference is, I liked Seinfeld. One could imagine Naughty Dog has been trolling us all along, to build up their brand and our confidence, just to trick us in the end. It wouldn’t surprise me if this were their last game ever because there’s no way they bombed on accident, this was planned, like Jack in Fun with Dick and Jane. I swore never to pre-order gain but this is was supposed to be a safe title. Instead, they did me like Call of Duty before I swore off that franchise. The term that comes to mind is poor, this is just a very poor game. Instructions, sneak, murder, scavenge sneak, murder scavenge. It felt a bit like a home walkthrough, something may catch your attention here and there but uneventful for the most part. Getting away from the story is one thing but this story took zero effort. They could’ve made this game about revenge and still had it be good if they gave two sh!ts about the story writing. It’s as if they were secretly purchased by EA or Activision to capitalize on their last hurrah. It’s as if Ferrari decided to totally destroy their brand by putting out garbage of epic proportions, mind-blowing. It took 7 years for this?!?! I would’ve wiped my a$$ with the booklet if I had purchased the physical game and sold it immediately to mitigate my losses. Never again, fuc* u Naughty Dog.… Expand

    The game is a train wreck and a a disgrace to modern story telling. How can anyone except hardcore Sony fanboys defend this mess? I usually avoid review bombing anything but years of review bombing by ps fanboys to much better games has made me immune to it.

    new monsters are copies from other much older games Story 2/10 - None lovable characters. plot holes, inconsistent character behavior. Game-play - 4/10 can be buggy, nothing new to really offer over the first. majority of the game is not game play. Graphics - 8/10 beautiful scenes. value 0/10 director 0/10 bashed    Game looks great, but that is the only thing the game has to offer.

    The biggest minus is the plot. He kills everything. Constant luck or bad luck of the main characters. Love triangles here and there. Dramatic moments that look just ridiculous. The game has the city of Santa Barbara. And the game itself is like the Santa Barbara    Improved gameplay from the first part. If you liked it in the first part, you like it here.

    They seem not to understand their own creation and why it provides such a great experience, trashing it completly half-way into it with the worst decision i've seen in a game ever.

    The worst part of it all is that, at the same time, this game brings us the very best representation of diversity in the history of the industry, and one to match the very best accounting for all forms of art. It's a feat for the history books, a gift for mankind. Also the boldness to write such a very deep story, bringing a game to a new level, honoring this form of art.

    But the fact that suspension of disbelief, the very most important fundament of this kind of art, is completly detroyed half-way into the game, transforms it into a simpleton arcady flick for half the time you will be playing it. In the end, its a game that's brilliant because of story and immersion, but that is rendered null half way into it, leaving you with the same feeling you would if you left the theater in the midlle of a movie you love.

    To clarify, the plain 0 score i gave, although i made some compliments to the game, is more about how i love TLOU and the first half of Part II than what i feel about the game itself. It makes me want to amplify my voice the most i can. Selfish, i know, but needed this time.    … Expand

    The game does not match the hype or the reviews on the website. I wonder why such a phenomenon exists. I buy games based on reviews and the reviews are not honest. Just don't raise your expectations. The first game on PS3 was much better. Really fake reviews.
    Part II just destroyed everything good about the first Last of Us.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Neil Druckmann just made a $60 SJW propaganda instead of the game we waited for 7 years. Don't get me wrong, I'm not furious about the game containing characters with various races and sexual orientations. I have absolutely no problem with that. However, I'm furious for TLOU 2's inconsistently breaking all the characters' personalities in order to make a point, characters' motivations that don't add up in order to make a point, and throw away/killing characters with no sensible explanation IN ORDER TO MAKE A **** POINT. For what? so that Mr. Druckmann could enlighten us about 'how video games should treat their female characters'.

    If these aspects of the game was advertised clearly from the trailers, I would have not be so angry at least, because if that was the case, I would not have bought it in the first place. Instead, Naughty Dog released a trailer deliberately deceiving customer as if the TLOU 2 is all about Joel and Ellie's story. But the reality is far harsh. Joel dies in the beginning of the game and you are forced to play as the killer Abby half of the game as if the game was forcefully educate players "See? Abby is not so bad. Joel was the bad guy in her eyes" and this take was done in very poorly paced manner.

    This piece of abomination made people realize the fact that the success of previous TLOU was accomplished by collective efforts from talented staffs once Naughty Dog had. Namely, Bruce Straley.

    Don’t buy this propaganda and don’t trust 10/10 user reviews for they are bought by Sony. ND and Sony seem very desperate. Why? because they know the game is so **** up.    … Expand

But on the other hand, when a franchise has a large fan base, it is completely dependent on the love of its fans (Star Trek, Star Wars, Mass Effect, The Witcher, etc.). And this case shows a direct example of this because you can't just take it and **** onAbout a hate - it is completely justified. Of course, there is a concept that the creator can do with his creation whatever he wants. But on the other hand, when a franchise has a large fan base, it is completely dependent on the love of its fans (Star Trek, Star Wars, Mass Effect, The Witcher, etc.). And this case shows a direct example of this because you can't just take it and **** on the opinion of your main audience - and after all, this, say: "eat it or leave it".
    The game has a lot of silver linings in it: gameplay, atmosphere, graphics, cinematography - that's all on the top level.
    But the story - is just a horrible roller coaster of not bad and complete **** moments, which you want to forget right after seeing.
    By scoring the game you just got to answer on one question to yourself - "what would you get when you marsh up together **** and honey?"    … Expand

    Hdr/4k/60 fps (on ps5). Great animations, great environments, good length without repetition, great gameplay. I imagine if they would not try to pry us with identity politics and other modern agendas what a great game could have been. All the effort and talent went to waste. I finished the game and    Played the game when became free on PS Now.
    This game is one player, story/adventure base.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It breaks my heart to write this but their is so much wrong with this game. 1. Repetitive gameplay - it’s just the same as the first, and it just ties in with the next point.

    2. The game drags on way too long - the gameplay is just fine, but the game is many hours too long and it feels like unnecessary padding, which really tests your patience.

    3. Makes experienced survivalists act dumb - Joel and Tommy have vast experience, know all the dangers, and even know Joel could be wanted because of what he did in TLOU1. Yet they give their names, relation, where they live, invite them over for tea and cupcakes, all to complete strangers who are all armed and outnumber them, in a closed off space.

    4. Joel is a beloved character and deserved better - Much like say Geralt, or Master Chief, or Lara Croft etc. They would deserve a good send off right? Yet the absolute butchering of Joel is a disservice of what he was to fans. He literally gets spat on by a **** lookalike after being golf clubbed to death until he’s mush. If you treat any beloved character this way, it’s a huge FU to any fan.

    5. They make you play as Joel’s killer for half or more of the game - Abby just isn’t likeable to me, her first moments are being saved by Joel, to then brutally annihilating him with a golf club in front of his surrogate daughter Ellie. Then later you play as her and they try and make you feel for her, implying she’s empathetic and so on. Yet she goes on this huge journey to find Joel, with the game trying to tell you she’s empathetic and nice. Yet when she reaches Joel, he saves her, but she wasn’t understanding there. And then she does what she does to him in front of Ellie despite not emphasising with why Joel did what he did, or how it will make Ellie feel. Therefore invalidating everything the game tried to tell us about nice she is, and why we should like her. You can’t say she’s nice and empathetic and then have her destroy someone with a golf club while making that person’s daughter watch. She was gonna kill pregnant Dina too, but Lev stopped her. Even if she was likeable, I don’t wanna play as the killer of a beloved character, and for half or more of the game at that.

    6. The plot is unoriginal and boring - Revenge plots have been done so many times, and done better. It’s not hard to realise violence leads to more violence. It’s you kill me, I kill you, the game. No more on Ellie’s immunity, zombies, or anything interesting.

    7. The ending - Ellie kills lots of people to reach Abby, who has killed Joel, Jesse and some others, but let’s her live. She found Abby tied up, so she cuts her down and let’s her walk to a boat, simply to attempt to kill her then. Why not just do it when she was tied up? Ridiculous. Then there’s the flashback of Joel that makes her spare Abby. Which had no words or sage advice, simply an image of Joel playing a guitar. To me, I’d think that would reignite Ellie’s anger and make her follow through with killing Abby, but no. Then she goes back to her home to find Dina gone and is alone. She lost Dina and the baby, Joel, her friends, her revenge, and her fingers. Tommy is injured and I think has lost his wife.

    8. What are zombies? - There’s barely any in the game. Clickers seem a joke, as Abby can handle 3 at once. And human characters can whistle and make noise no problem.

    9. Abby’s sex scene - it’s just tasteless and dry. Funnily it’s praised and allowed, but anime girls in bikinis, and other less risqué scenes are criticised and censored. This one is more just a hit at Sony than it is about the game itself.    … Expand

The story and characters are awful. Joel is killed after 2 hrs of gameplay. Most of the fans can live if it's done in a respectful way. But noooo, they let him be slaughtered by some character named Abby in the most disrespectful way and then they want us to play 70% of the games as her ? People care about Joel and Ellie. Nobody cares about Abby. NOBODY ! One of the strongest points of the first game was the storytelling and the relationship between Joel and Ellie. We cared about them. And after 7 years of waiting they give us this ? Shame on you, Naughty Dog...… Expand

    Gameplay was pretty much same as first one. Really hoped they would improve on it as gameplay wasn't particularly strong suit to begin with and didn't get any better with age.     The gameplay is old and stale, the story telling is all over the place. This is what happens when you have writers based on color and pink hair instead of talent.

    Neil Druckman hates the female figure but loves butch men pretending to be female, it also appears he likes making and seeing stories on young teenage lesbians.

    Pushing political agendas in such a blatant way that completely ruins the game's narrative is absolutely disgusting. If this game's strongest point was it's gameplay maybe I'd consider tolerating it to some extent but most of us wanted to experience the story. If I could give it a lower rating than zero I would gladly.

Totalmente compreensível a Ellie ser lésbica, mas todo o restante foi forçação de barra, incluindo jogar com a Abbe, algo que parece ter sido colocado apenas para extender o jogo. Decepção.

    Wow! The writers should be fired! The gameplay does nothing to innovate and stealth gets very repetitive here. The puzzles are terrible!!! The only thing it has going for it is its graphics. The game is an overrated mess! Stay far clear if you know whats good for you.

    I am personally not a fan of Naughty Dog's style when it comes to their action titles, but they do however present beautiful environments, believable worlds, and some likeable characters. The Last of Us 2 fails to present anything positive; dull gameplay, an uninteresting story, and unlikable characters, all of which make for a truly disappointing experience.

Joel being wary of strangers and even ELLIE having this treatment for a while?

    Nope Joel just goes in a place with his brother, announces that he is Joel, where Abby, just clubs him to death with a golf club while Ellie was busy getting high and scissor with her GF. You might think it'll get betterbut it doesn't. Eventually you play as Abby and get in some cringeworthy sex scene where she takes it up the ass dry.

    Then you might think, the ending couldn't be as bad as the leaks made it out to be right? It's just as bad. Ellie, killing hundreds to get to Abby, finds her on a cross, frees her, and while they're about to go their separate ways. Ellie decides "Nah I can't let you go" And thus begins the final "boss" you slash at Abby a bunch until she hits the knife away, then punch her a bunch start drowning her, her two fingers bit off. And then when Ellie has her. She could get her revenge right then and there, just holds her a few more seconds underwater? She gets a vision of Joel and suddenly decides that revenge is bad and lets Abby leave. It's really just a kick in the gut to anyone who even remotely liked the first game.    … Expand

    The only good about this game and graphic and game play improvement.

    Ruined franchise by an almost unbelievable bad story. So much stuff to discuss in a post apocalyptic world and Naughty Dog chooses to focus on an empty and stupid vengeance, sexuality and gender. For the sake of this agenda, it even killed a very loved character in a very hateful way. After finishing the game, I wish I haven't played it to preserve just TLOU1 in my memory.

    Game destroys the entire purposed of TLoU part 1. Fireflies planned to keep Ellie sedated and kill her without talking to her or Joel. He did the right thing. on part 2 they just make it out to be as wet he did was wrong. This game was so uncomfortable to play. Sick developers. This game made people feel so miserable. First time I regret spending money on a game.
