    Graphics: 10/10. Amazing, best looking game on the PS4.
    Music/Sound design: 8/10. The music is just okay, but the sound design is amazing. Tip: use headphones!
    Gameplay: 7/10. It works, it's not innovative, but feels a bit better than in the first game. Although I expected more from Naughty Dog. Story: 5/10. I almost gave it a 6, but the story is just too average. And there were scenes    Graphics: 10/10. Amazing, best looking game on the PS4.

    After being a fan of the first game, this instalment completely un-writes the events of the original, if the writers intention was to make the most boring hopeless and pointless sequel to a universally loved game then they succeeded, but I’m not stupid enough to be fooled into thinking that feeling bored is the whole point.     The *** are they did with The Last Of Us Part 2?

    The narrative is poor, conversations between characters are really boring, and the plot / idea looks like was taken from Metal Gear Solid 2... But worst.

    Graphics are strange, in some areas of the game are good, in other areas looks creepy, is a disaster.

    The videogames press are STRONGLY bribed putting incredibles scores to this mediocre game.

He was a beloved character from the first game, if you want to kill him off, fine, but give him a real end. Have him die like a hero sacrificing himself to protect Ellie at the very end of the game or something, not like an idiot at the start of the game.     This game is an absolute slap in the face to the previous title. Everyone at naughtydog should be ashamed. The story is completely divorced from reality, pandering to flavour of the month "woke" politics instead of progressing from the original. This game will be forgotten, unless you need an example of the fall of a once great game. I got a refund thank goodness, sorry to anyone who couldn't.

    The First TLOU had a great story and characters which felt real and relatable even. Even though the game play and combat was not great, it did not matter because we loved the characters and their development and relationships. This games abandoned all that for nothing really. A real disappointment and a shame really.

    They take this to an extremely stupid place, with Joel dying and Ellie murdering all of Abby's(child of an NPC in first game that golf clubs Joel) crew, only to suddenly realized revenge isnt worth it after Tommy is shot, she loses everything to include 2 fingers and already killed people far more innocent then Abby to just let her live. It then ends on a weird note that Joel is evil and it's better to let someone who murdered essentially you father live because revenge is bad even though you already killed like a 100 people for that revenge.    … Expand

    Update: I've played a bit more, and the game is solid. Not much story wise, other than Dina taking jabs at killing "bad guys." There was a touching guitar moment, but nothing solid story wise. Gameplay and setting are top notch though. Up to 4/10.

    Update: Joel moments are well done, but also highlight what could've been. Up to 5/10.

    Update: Playing as Aaby is fun...is. 6/10

    Update: Just finished the game. My final score is an 8/10. I hated the story, the combat drags a bit, but the story ending wasn't bad. It was just depressing and not what I wanted. .That being said, I will never pick the game up again, and it was so manipulative that I won't buy another PS4 title and I'm trading in my PS4. I'll be buying a Nintendo Switch and play actual games with the intent to have fun. Incredibly depressing experience that killed my love for the medium. So they did a good job I guess, if I feel that strongly.

    While the graphics are fantastic, the audio is polished, and “technically” this is extremely well done, this is unfortunately a case of shoe-horned political propaganda into a video game, which totally alienates players from the experience. Character’s are freakishly unrelatable for any normal person & the story is cringe levels of awful.     After the 12-15 hour mark I just wanted the game to finish, which is quite bad since that's like half way through...

    At several moments the game comes off as trying to be disruptive just for the sake of doing it

Gameplay and graphics are next-level, but the story’s central focus on hatred and gratuitous sexualization not present in the first game leaves me feeling what I just described: With a strong disdain toward whomever is responsible for this atrocity.

While gameplay received better animations and such, it mostly remained the exact same and becomes monotonous and predictable over the 25+ hour story. While it’s not bad, you'd hope for a much bigger upgrade or overhaul of crafting and other gameplay mechanics, but many remained completely untouched. But the gameplay isn’t what causes this game to be a failure in my opinion, because that’s not what people really play TLOU for anyways. People play for the characters and story, which is nothing short of disappointing and misguided in this game. The utter lack of respect toward previous or even new characters prevents the player from getting invested in them, and the game fails to utilize the one relationship the player was already invested in going into the game. Instead they demolish that relationship, and never really show it getting back to anything of what it used to be. Most other characters in this game are stagnant and replaceable, and while they have good performances, fail to make me care about them in a meaningful way. That is, until they get brutally murdered on a quest for revenge. By the end of the game I was so numb to violence nothing shocked me anymore, and I’m not sure what the game was even trying to say through all this violence and misery. What I do know is that I feel devastated for Ellie and deep hatred for another character. I truly hope Naughty Dog lets this franchise die in the pit they dug for it. I absolutely loved the first game, but this train wreck wants me to feel depressed for nothing. Some of the lessons it tries to teach seem so stupidly simple I asked myself if I was even hearing it right. All I can hear now is the ringing in my ears after listening to one of my favorite games get pillaged and massacred in the name of “Subverted Expectations”. Do not recommend.… Expand

After the first game was so great, there’s no point in reading the reviews because the 2nd is bound to be fantastic.. How wrong was I, and I hang my head in shame! You fooled me! I have just got past the Joel death and made my way to Seattle and I have turned it off, never to be turned back on again.. There is an ‘Woke’ agenda that’s been pushed into this game needlessly. . I’m all for more female characters and more diversity in my games. But not at the detriment of the stories and characters I’ve grown to love!! Make a new IP or a stand alone story for that. And that’s not me being sexist or prejudice. I’d feel the same if you swapped out Lara Croft for a **** male character! Stop trying to be so woke with our beloved games and characters!... no one is stopping you creating brand new content but please just stop this airbrushing out the ones we love!     - When Joel has his head caved in, I hated Abbey and that group. By the end I really liked her
    - Abbey and Ellie fight was so well done. I had no idea who to route for and felt uncomfortable.
    - Some of the set pieces in the game and incredible. Aquarium, football stadium, museum etc
    - Thought they did a good job of building on TLOU story
    - The tension I felt during some of the combat areas we insane.

I believe that the purpose of the games are far from disseminate ideology X or Y (and that includes BOTH sides, left or right), and mostly when you are making a sequence. Choosing to disrespect the gameThe Graphics and the Gameplay are great as the first game's are. But the storyline decisions are horrible in many ways, such as the forced political and ideologic propaganda in this game. I believe that the purpose of the games are far from disseminate ideology X or Y (and that includes BOTH sides, left or right), and mostly when you are making a sequence. Choosing to disrespect the game story and distort it to satisfy some ideological propaganda was the worst decision ND made, because overall, games shouldn't be used for that purpose, and the way the story was heavily distorted and characters such as Joel were completely disrespected is a spit on the game fanbase's face in order to satisfy X or Y ideological/political group, when games should never be used for that sort of purpose.

    If you want to play for the gameplay and the graphics and don't really care about the distortion made in the storyline with this sequence then you'll love TLOU Part II, but if you do care about the story and like me, don't appreciate political/ideological **** forced in your gameplay then you're better off playing some other game that did not surrender to that.

    The Game is a story, the gameplay and graphics are mere tools to tell it. If graphics were that important then minecraft wouldn't be even known by anyone and would be called trash, which is not the case. Graphics are important, but many amazing games we played in the past are still amazing even with their old graphics. So from what really matters, the story, i can give a solid zero to this game, that as i pointed many times, has chosen to inser something that don't belong to the game world: Politics and Ideology. If you want to disseminate your ideological thoughts go right ahead with a brand new game, with a official note, with a twitter post, who cares, but don't mess with my game to do that.    … Expand

    If you love first game - do not waste you time and money. The only good thing in this is music, everything else, which we loved so much from 1st game is gone and buried under empty shells of characters and stupid plot twists.

    what made the first game great is gone. it was never about game mechanics or graphics, it was the story that made TLoU one of the best games of it's generation...so , if you take away the good story, what have you got left. horrible, just horrible

    The details that everyone speak of, they are in Red Dead Redemption 2. Steaming horses, the sweat marks, living natural enviroment where animals (and there are many) hunt eachother, or fight, guns, clothes and character itself gets dirty, there are minigames and even some sort of fighting system alongside very natural animations etc. etc. there is so many things that makes this game whole, that i could write a solid book about what is going on there.

    So in terms of gameplay, and details The last of Us 2 is nothing special, and yet, they have courage to completely destroy a story, with a very cheap shocking value, and the ending... oh boy...    … Expand

There's a difference between art and propaganda, if I can gauge the entirety of the author's worldview by their work it is not a well developed piece, especially if the narrative falls within the archetypal sensibilities of an ideologue. I've gained nothing from this story, I could go to tumblr and read better fan fictions. It's just iconoclasm of the most vengeful sort, to kill a beloved character with indignity and no resolution to that, while having the villain escape scot free due to characteristics considered protected by the author.     Both Abby and Ellie do not mature or get character development and they essentially remain the same towards end of the game. Player's spend hours seeing their character get revenge by killing key characters and innocent NPC's only to spare the main target at the very last second? It felt like we wasted our time and we were left with dread and disappointment. It doesn't make sense for the main character to just walk away from their objective at the last second despite the fact said character gave up the pursuit sometime earlier in the story.

    There are some characters in the game that do not supplement character development or show qualities that make us feel sympathetic towards them. Take for instance Jesse and Manny who are only there to provide some drama to the narrative without providing memorable personal traits.

    The flashbacks were also poorly executed. Those flashbacks should have been the first playable parts of the game and then switch over to the main plot. It would have made the game's ending even more impressionable instead of making us feel like all our efforts were basically for nothing. I honestly think Naughty Dog should have created two campaign modes for the game, one focused completely from Ellie's perspective and another on Abby's story. Upon completion of Ellie's story we will have the option to complete Abby's campaign instead of having us switch between these characters.

    Overall, I don't think this game is worth $59+ and I am disappointed with it. I think Naughty Dog should remake this game or at least learn their mistakes by the time they release Last of Us III.    … Expand

    This was a let down. This is absolutely not worth the price. The only good this game has to offer is the scenery and that's about it. The first one wasnt that bad either. When you wanna make a game woke maybe start it on a newer franchise. Dont ruin one that was currently doing well.

    This is a story driven game, with a REALLY inconsistent story that looks like it’s written by a 15yo with no knowledge of how to tell a story, at all.
    The game makes puts Ellie in a quest for revenge which ends up in a **** poorly written ending basically saying “reVeNge is BaD” after a horrible antagonist kills Joel.
    Also, it pushes certain unlikeable characters down your throat, and even makes you play with the antagonist on what seems like an effort to understand “her reasons” for killing Ellie’s fatherly figure.
    Needless to say, this whole segment of a game was a damn chore.
    It’s such a pity, since TLOU1 was, arguably, one of the best if not the best story driven game available for ps3 at the time, and this one falls extremely short due to crappy storytelling and inconsistencies.
    Naughty dog deserves the not-so-good user reviews they got for this game, and it’s definitely not worth buying at all, if you’re looking for a good story driven game.

    Great technical achievement. Worst story ever, period. They made this game without purpose. All this game had to do was to give us a sequel. The search for a solution, the vaccine, or even Joel seeking for redemption, whatsoever. Not even hard to do.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
