The production value (motion campture, animation, voice acting and face expressions) and technical fidelity is great, but the overall game design is starting to feel obsolete and some places contradicts the story instead of working in favor of narration. For example, there is a scene when companion suggests to run, but the game isn't allowing to progress until all enemies on a level are cleared. Whether the story is good or bad is highly subjective, but there are many story beats that seem to exists only for the plot convenience and are out of character. I don't have a problem with writers wanted to introduce new characters, but many of them feel forced. Many cutscenes, while technically impressive, are poorly directed and written and are ridden with cliches, for example there is recurring cliche of bad guys wanting to kill some characte but suddenly they are starting to argue which gives time to some surprisingly deus-ex-machina event to happen and to impose plot armor on such character. Also, there seem to be thin line between deceiving audience via trailers for more satisfying pay off and false advertising. II think Naughty Dog crossed the line with clever editing and model swapping to bait audience, hence the outrage, and I agree. This is not the game that was advertised. Imagine if it was other way around and authors marketed this game honestly, focusing on a new playable character only for gamers to find out we are playing Ellie for the 50% of the game - everyone would be in awe.… Expand

He did deserve a honorable death but that's not reality there are alot of good people that are murdered that didn't deserve it but that's life. So I dont understand why everyone is so angry bad things happen to good people not playing cause what you are reading. Do yourself a favor and play it for yourself and don't miss out on a great game.I don't want to spoil the game for anyone but the characters that you love are still in the game… Expand

    Mi chiedo se la gente che ha messo 0 abbia giocato the last of us 2 oppure si sia basata sul sentito dire, recensioni fatte il 19 giorno dell uscita? Ci si impiega almeno 25/30ore per finirlo. Mi chiedo perche per andare controcorrente non si riesca ad essere un minimo corretti e coerenti

    Il gioco è disarmante dall inizio alla fine , diverso dal primo capitolo ma incredibilmente bello e ugualmente commovente.. forse anche più del primo.. molto più triste e cupo. Si ripercorre il duro rapporto che si è venuto a creare fra ellie e joel... gli attriti i rancori ... è un gioco che tratta una moltitudine di temi e che che ti fa provare una moltitudine di sentimenti, spesso diversi fra loro, questo è un capolavoro dalla grafica alle musiche dalla recitazione alla giocabilita’.
    Incredibile leggere alcune recensioni stupide fatte apposta per abbassare i voti.
    Un gioco deve lasciare sempre qualcosa e the last of us 2 lo fa in una maniera che definirei arte pura.....ti lascia pensare , riflettere sognare. Insomma non ascoltate personaggi che nemmeno hanno provato il gioco o che si sono lasciati travisare da leak passati senza nemmeno provare a vedere se ciò che avevano letto corrispondesse a realtà.
    Complimenti a Naughty Dog siete dei creatori di sogni.

    How to sum it up: certain people hating on it for a character death really doesn't watch much tv(Red wedding, ned starks beheading) To name a few. I was shocked when I saw a 4.2 but I heard it's a reviewbombing so just giving my honest rating after I actually played it.

People who are mad, because the game isn´t fun, should remember, that the world of The Last Of Us isn´t a "fun" place and the game sticks to that. Apart from that: The graphics are out of this world. No difference to a decent movie or series.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My heart is broken. I played the first game when I was 13, and it became a very special game to me. I remember when they announced they would be making a second one, and I was so excited. And now, after the long wait, the game is finally here, except it’s so disappointing. I was so excited to play this game, a story of revenge, but naughty dog for whatever reason didn’t want to go all the way and wimped out on the revenge tale so it was never quite whole. Add in the unexplainable hours of gameplay where you are forced to play as the vapid and empty antagonist all while naughty dog attempts to make some forced redemption for her and for what? I honestly don’t know why they did this, it was such a waste. If they cut out all the parts where you play as Abby and actually tried to developer there characters a little further maybe the game wouldn’t have been such a big flop. I cried so much during this game, only once was because of the actual gameplay, all the other times was because I I realized I wasted years of my life getting so excited for a game only for it to completely bomb. My main issues with this game are as follows:
    -The way the killed off Joel
    -The way they made Tommy’s character, especially after Jessie dies
    -All the Abby “filler”
    -Ellie’s ability to kill hundreds of people to get to who she wants only to back down at the last second
    -the lack of character development Some things I did like in this game:
    -The beautiful graphics
    -The seamless transitions between cinematic and gameplay
    -The first three days in Seattle as Ellie (wish they had made the whole game more like this and fleshed it out)

    In conclusion, naughty dog, please just except this was a fail. And what I think you should do is just throw the whole thing away, pretend it never happened, and try again. Please.    … Expand

    It’s not a bad game, but it is quite a let down after the first last of us. The graph are really pretty and the gameplay isn’t the worse, but the story is quite poor.

    Beautiful game, even more beautiful visuals. Incredible, the best thing about the game no doubt. The gameplay is more of the same but a little improved. I like the new touches in combat, not so easy to dodge like in every other game, better use of bottles and the blade etc.
    As far as the story goes Ellie takes over after Joel as the main character and it's a pretty bold move because 90% of    Beautiful game, even more beautiful visuals.     But this game is truly a masterpiece in my eyes, a beautiful world has been created with perfectly written characters who you enjoy every last second with, yeah the ending is a little bogus and stretched out, but it closes Joel’s Character in a positive way, Abbie is one of the best game characters of all time. At the start I felt hatred against her, but playing her throughout the second act completely changed my view on the character. I feel sorry for her and don’t want anything bad to happen. The confrontation of Ellie was very well done even though Tommy somehow wasn’t killed, I’ve ran out of things to say but if you don’t like the sound of jet engines taking off, don’t touch this game.    … Expand

    The LGBT inclusion is kinda good plus it looks absolutely stunning and has great attention to detail. To be fair i'd score it a 7 but cry me a river triggered white het gamers.

But it’s a strong emotional story followed my mind blowing graphics and ideas of pain, revenge and tears. The politics in this game were balanced. I did not see forced relationships and concepts.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So I have to be very honest here with this game. I was waiting for 5 years by now, its 5 years since I played remastered for the first time. And it literally gave me a reason to live. I love The Last of Us.
    And just mentioning the lesbian thing. I think Naughty Dog made the best decision on making Ellie lesbian, you know why? She grew up in a world with violence and she never really had those girl prejudices to grow up with, so it just makes sense and is very authentic if she is lesbian and, lets say, "more like a boy". First I thought Naughty Dog is doing that just for the LGBTQ Community and that would be just bad to do JUST for that. But it is actually soo authentic and well done, I love it.

    So i played it for 3-4 hours, and I am overwhelmed by the grafic and the game mechanics, even though the mechanics are quite similar to Part 1 until now, its good they kept many things from part I.
    How the hell could you guys let Joel die....??
    I cried a river, even though I hate you for doing that, I have still hope it isnt true or something. But it was sooo realistic and authentic, and Ashley Johnson did so so well oh my god... I cried a lot.

Story ist total schlecht durchdacht, sie töten den Hauptcharakter Joel, den viele liebten aus Teil 1, um nur einen blöden Schockmoment zu erschaffen. Damit hat Neil Druckman dieses großartige Franchise begraben, sowas sollte doch eigentlich NICHT im Interesse von Sony sein, die hätten da eingreifen sollen, Entwickler Freiheiten hin oder her, irgendwo muss auch mal Schluss sein.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all. ill praise the environmental visuals and the sound of the game. but the game is not worth the 7 years i waited for. TLOU to is the story about Joel and Ellie. so it makes sense to play TLOU 2 as characters Ellie AND Joel that we developed a bond with all throughout, not as a random character that has only been introduced 5 hours into the game. i mean how does N.D. expect us to get involved with the game when we are put into a random character that we have no emotional attachment to. secondly, the plot is not engaging at all, N.D. says the game is not supposed to be fun but more of an engaging story, but the plot is horribly disconnected with most of the fans, we get that the character Abby went to kill Joel for revenge, but the ending was just pure **** Joel gets killed, Ellie's group gets killed, Ellie gets revenge and kills abbey's group who were just willing witnesses to a murder, but in the end Ellie didn't get revenge for Joel by letting abbey scott free. if it was ellie who Abby killed Joel would've stopped at nothing to kill Abby for stealing his daughter figure from him, i expected Ellie would've done the same as it felt like she saw Joel as a Father Figure.… Expand

    A brave and ambitious game that sometimes falters in it's storytelling, appearing maybe a little pretentious and contradictory in it's message, but the game is nonetheless excellent, with enthralling and suspense-driven gameplay and brilliantly broken characters that show the disparity that the world has come to in the Last of Us.

Me gusto un chingo el juego, creo que recibio el hate que recibio porque no fue un fan service o la gente no lo a jugado porque me parecio una obra maestra, claro no tanto como el primero pero aun asi me gusto muchisimo, creo que el haber mostrado la muerte de Joel de una manera tan cruda te hace saber que no por ser un personaje tan importante para nosotros es indestructible y al final cuando ellie perdona a abby es para dar a entender que ella es mejor que abby, asi deja su venganza de lado para dejar vivivir a la tipa… Expand

    In short: absolutely amazing game! I have played 8 hours now and it has been simply amazing in terms of graphics, story telling, game play, details. The story has been absolutely captivating (although shocking) and the game itself super fun to play (although very tense). It is really sad to see so many pathetic insecure people hate on the game because of Ellie's sexual orientation or thatIn short: absolutely amazing game!     1) "The game is too violent" - what the hell were you expecting? The first game was also about killing humans and zombies
    2) "The game does the same thing and is boring" - the first game was also walking around, exploring and killing humans / zombies - why is it boring now?
    3) "The story is terrible" - if Ellie wasn't a lesbian and there wasn't a trans character - there would be zero story criticisms    … Expand

Je me suis renseigné ensuite des leaks qu'il y avait eût (à l'instant) quel ramassis de connerie... les images sont bien réelles, ça voilà il faut pas le nier, mais alors le détournement que les gens en ont fait est magnifiquement débile... en lisant les leaks je me suis rendu compte que la plupart étaient complètement à côté de la plaque... créaient par des gens avec pour seul envie, le dégoût ou la haine ? Enfin bon ne pas se fier aux leaks... Concernant le jeu, beaucoup de nouvelles mécaniques ce qui rend le jeu très agréables, plusieurs façons également de le prendre, discrétion, bourin... les scènes qui doivent donner de l'émotion en donne... Très surpris de mon arrivé à Seatle, très surpris également du double arc narratif.

    J'hésitais en 9 et 10, cependant ce sera 10 pour équilibrer avec les 0 injustifiés de joueur n'ayant jamais joué.    … Expand

    Love this game. Granted it may some submit matter in nature not everybody will agree with but who th hell cares. From sound design to graphics to environment to voice acting SUPERB. I see a lot of whiny people review bombing but that is expected of intolerant people. Buy this game is you even touched the 1st period...

Probably should have given a few credits to the difficulty settings since that did bring a sense of freshness. I hate how SONY cancels and censors other games due to their 'sexualising content' but not this one with that **** awful sex scene that literally no one likes. I want the director to apologise to all the fans he has disappointed and stop calling homophobic, transphobic, sexist, racist or other **** because they HATE YOUR **** GAME (guess what, you didn't even include the disabled community in the game, you **** bastard). Admittedly, it was a little rushed but he died saving someone. He died after being a hero yet again and I think that’s beautiful.     It is truly a masterpiece in story telling and character design. Graphics are absolutely stunning. I am amazed. It brings some fresh wind into the gaming world full of BR's. We need more of these kind of games!

Great graphics, amazing settings, viewers glued to the story from beginning to end and curious or anxious about what is about to happen next. I understand why it would upset a lot of players, but only due to their emotional attachment to the characters. Thoroughly enjoyed the tears, the anger, the action, the adrenaline, the turn of events, the dangers of this game. Gameplay was far better and evolved from the first game. Finally, I completely agree with the developers of the game, that in order to fully enjoy and appreciate this masterpiece, you need to lose any heroic emotional attachment to the characters and have an open mind on the brutal and cruel world of The Last of Us Part 2. 10/10.… Expand

    For example Colorblind mode, Difficulty mode (You can change various things like how much loot can drop, how much damage you can retrieve, and various things related to difficulty).

    By the start of TLOU II (Part 2), you jump into the story of Joel where is he telling his brother Tommy what happened at the end of TLOU I (Part 1).

    The story jumps into body of Abby a character that most people wouldn't like after playing the game around for 2 hours in-game, and the true reason is that she killed Joel.

    Her reason to kill Joel was that he saved Fireflies from making the cure and killing the doctors. Her revenge ends with hitting Joel with golf stick in the head, it was really dramatic by seeing Joel die like that, plus Ellie was there and Tommy too..

    After this.. Ellie decides to go on her quest to take revenge on all the members that were during the death of Joel. And Tommy decides to go too but leaves without Ellie... The story is about following the lead of Tommy killing other people and engaging into this dramatic brutalistic masterpiece.

    Lastly, I would like to point out how brutalistic this game is.. Naughty Dog Developer's decided to add dog's into this masterpiece, it is truly a pain to see the dogs die to Dog lovers.

    Das Spiel ist für mich wieder ein Meilenstein in der Spielgeschichte. Die Charaktere sind so authentisch und mitfühlend gestaltet, einfach heftig. Besten Dank an die Entwickler für das Erlebnis! 1 Punkt Abzug für die Zwischenpasagen, das hat God of War etwas besser hinbekommen.

This is what happens, horrible story telling. Not only that, naughty dog tried to cover up the same old gameplay mechanics from the first game by creating a “great” story, Which they failed to do. I get that Joel had to die, I accepted that as soon as I heard a sequel would be released but his death not two hours into the game was horribly unearned and poorly written. We didn’t even get to play as him at all basically. On top of the fact that we are forced to play as a character who is horribly written... this game is a mess and a waste of $60. But we can’t say we were not warned with the leaks. I read a review on Metacritic that described this game as a fan fiction-type story. They are 100% correct. People, you must listen to your peers and not these huge video game review companies. We know what you want as fans of this series. Skip this game.… Expand

    all this review bombing from kids bitter that they can't afford the game are laughable. the game is a masterpiece in storytelling and a benchmark in graphics - do yourself a favour and play this on an oled tv, your jaw will drop at the first sequence of the game. superb story, superb gameplay, don't listen to all these call of duty / play for free geniuses.
